00:01:59.000 Hey, everybody, welcome to this episode of the Charlie Kirk Show.
00:02:02.000 I am super thrilled to be joined today by a friend of mine and a total American patriot, Harold Hamm, someone who has really been the pioneer of oil and natural gas, the oil and natural gas industry in this country.
00:02:18.000 He is the founder and chairman of Continental Resources.
00:02:22.000 Mr. Hamm, welcome to the Charlie Kirk Show.
00:02:26.000 Hey, very good to be with you.
00:02:27.000 Thanks for all the positive leadership that you've given to young people across the country.
00:02:32.000 It's nothing short of fantastic.
00:02:34.000 So you've done a wonderful job.
00:02:36.000 Appreciate you very much.
00:02:37.000 Well, thank you so much.
00:02:38.000 So, Mr. Hamm, I wanted to have you on the program because there's been a lot of chatter in the last week about fracking oil and natural gas.
00:02:48.000 Joe Biden was kind of tricked into telling the truth in the debate when Joe Biden said, Well, I'm for fracking.
00:02:55.000 And then President Trump continued to ask him questions and he said, Well, I want to phase out oil and natural gas.
00:03:02.000 What would this mean for energy production in this country, for middle-class jobs, and for this incredible industry that has seen a renaissance in the last couple of years?
00:03:12.000 Yeah, Charlie, that was really something to watch.
00:03:14.000 You know, Joe getting caught in a big, undeniable lie.
00:03:19.000 I mean, he's been lying to the American public forever and finally got caught in it.
00:03:23.000 But, you know, if you go back and look at his voting record, in 1977, he voted for the Carter Energy Plan to basically, you know, eliminate natural gas at that point.
00:03:37.000 Gas and coal of the two, he chose coal and for all the electricity generation in the U.S.
00:03:47.000 That 1977.
00:03:49.000 And basically, you could not use clean, burning natural gas for the next 10 years.
00:03:55.000 I mean, this is the same guy that did that.
00:03:58.000 You know, everybody knew that was wrong.
00:03:59.000 EIS said that you're going to put all these pollutants in the air in America, and it's going to cause all these disastrous effects to the climate.
00:04:08.000 And yet, that's where he voted.
00:04:10.000 So, he caused the same thing that now he's saying we have to eliminate.
00:04:17.000 But really, it's all political.
00:04:19.000 He wants to eliminate oil and gas because we're conservative business people in America.
00:04:25.000 We've done wonderful things.
00:04:27.000 Absolutely.
00:04:28.000 And so, when he talks about banning fracking and also banning oil and gas production, what does that mean for tax revenues?
00:04:36.000 What does that mean for the funding of our schools?
00:04:38.000 What does that mean for the middle-class way of life that people in West Texas and Oklahoma and North Dakota and Pennsylvania have been able to enjoy?
00:04:48.000 Well, actually, you know, Joe Biden doesn't even know enough about our business to know what's happened.
00:04:54.000 Really, it's all about horizontal drilling, you know, putting long laterals up in this tight rock that's full of oil and gas in America that we have so much of.
00:05:05.000 You know, that's what's made it possible to have the energy renaissance that we have.
00:05:10.000 They use the F-word because it's derogatory.
00:05:13.000 You don't want to put us down, put us out of business.
00:05:16.000 And so, that's where that comes from.
00:05:18.000 But we're talking about something that's going to touch everybody's life here in America.
00:05:26.000 First of all, the direct jobs and then the indirect jobs.
00:05:29.000 We're talking 19 million people.
00:05:32.000 This has driven the economy that we've had, you know, through the Trump administration.
00:05:38.000 It's been fantastic.
00:05:39.000 You stop that.
00:05:41.000 You're going to plunge us into a depression here in the country.
00:05:44.000 Plus, I wrote an op-ed the other day talked about $6 gas, gasoline at the pump.
00:05:51.000 And you could definitely have that.
00:05:53.000 I mean, he wants to take you back to a Carter-like administration that scarcity versus abundance.
00:06:01.000 We have abundance today.
00:06:03.000 You know, it's brought us peace in the world, brought all these things.
00:06:07.000 And Joe Biden, he hates us.
00:06:10.000 He always has.
00:06:12.000 So, anyway, he wants to eliminate, but it's political.
00:06:16.000 He wants to knock out all the Republicans, and he thinks oil and gas is made up of Texas Republicans.
00:06:23.000 Let me tell you, there's some Democrats on this thing too, and it's going to affect a lot of Democrats, consumers out there in America.
00:06:31.000 So, the voters know better than that, and they're not going to believe a sleight of hand that Joe Biden has had, you know, because he does want to knock out our industry.
00:06:42.000 And let's see, he's going to knock out an industry that he thinks is unfriendly to him.
00:06:48.000 Let's see how that works for him.
00:06:50.000 I don't believe that the American voter is going to go for it.
00:06:53.000 Yeah, and he was so just upfront and brazen in saying, Well, we're just going to phase it out as if it's just so matter of fact that the incredible blessings that we have in this country should not be utilized for jobs, for tax revenue, for lower energy prices.
00:07:09.000 Studies show that the American family saves hundreds of dollars a year thanks to oil and natural gas advantage that we have in our country.
00:07:17.000 Not to mention that we're finally energy independent.
00:07:20.000 Can you talk about how our energy independence helps us geopolitically?
00:07:24.000 It makes us less reliant on Middle East oil, allows us to export oil, and it finally allows us to make foreign policy decisions without having to think that we need to have a stream of energy from the Middle East.
00:07:37.000 Well, heretofore, we had to kowtow to the Arab sheiks over there instead of using normal diplomacy.
00:07:47.000 We had to kowtow to them.
00:07:49.000 And today, we don't have to do that anymore.
00:07:51.000 I mean, we're free.
00:07:53.000 So he wants to trade these hard hats that we wear in oilfield for helmets again.
00:07:58.000 So we're going to have covariance start fighting again.
00:08:01.000 You know, we could never had peace break out in the Middle East, you know, under his policies.
00:08:10.000 It could never have happened.
00:08:12.000 So it's been an amazing turnaround what's happened.
00:08:17.000 Joe's wrong all across the board.
00:08:20.000 He's talking about subsidies paid to oil and gas.
00:08:23.000 Oh, come on.
00:08:24.000 There's nothing paid to oil and gas.
00:08:26.000 You know, I've drilled my share of dry holes, unfortunately, and nobody ever wrote me a check, but they do write checks for all the solar and wind, you know, all the renewables.
00:08:39.000 They get checks.
00:08:40.000 They're paid to do that.
00:08:43.000 So he's all messed up.
00:08:45.000 Then he talks about stopping permitting on federal lands.
00:08:50.000 Now, some people don't realize what that means.
00:08:53.000 That means if you bought good leases from the government, paid them for those leases on federal lands, you can't drill.
00:09:02.000 So you're going to lose all that.
00:09:04.000 Now, how fair is that?
00:09:07.000 And I mean, we're not talking about fracking.
00:09:09.000 We're talking about drilling.
00:09:11.000 And a lot of these states, Wyoming, the Powder River Basin, that's all federal lands.
00:09:18.000 Some of the Permian, New Mexico, wake up, New Mexico.
00:09:22.000 You know, pay attention here.
00:09:24.000 That's federal lands.
00:09:26.000 You know, that's going to cease.
00:09:28.000 And so, you know, it just goes on and on and on with Joe and Camel Harris.
00:09:34.000 They got caught, and the president was so good to force them out.
00:09:39.000 And the voters are listening, and he's not going to get by with it.
00:09:46.000 I want to tell you guys about Good Ranchers.
00:09:47.000 It's amazing.
00:09:49.000 Connor here, Charlie Kirk Show.
00:09:51.000 He is raving about Good Ranchers.
00:09:52.000 He says the marbled meats, the texture, the flavor, the depth, the juiciness.
00:09:57.000 He has not stopped talking about Good Ranchers Meat.
00:09:59.000 We've been talking about it.
00:10:00.000 We said, okay, give us some of that Good Ranchers meat.
00:10:02.000 Boom, 10 out of 10.
00:10:04.000 That's right.
00:10:04.000 He's smiling.
00:10:05.000 It's true.
00:10:06.000 Go to goodranchers.com right now.
00:10:08.000 And they began with the standard of bringing top quality meat.

00:10:42.000 Goodranchers.com promo code Charlie.
00:10:47.000 Can you talk about how unrealistic their ambitions are for a green energy plan?
00:10:54.000 They talk about solar and wind being the predominant energy source for our country.
00:11:01.000 Can you talk about how unrealistic that is when you just look at how expensive it is, the kind of subsidies it requires?
00:11:08.000 This is something a lot of young people kind of fall hypnotized to, that they think we can just have solar panels everywhere and that will be able to satisfy the energy needs of our country.
00:11:19.000 Can you talk about how there might be some role for solar and wind to operate free of subsidies, but it's going to be nowhere near the 70 or 80 percent of the energy consumption that our country currently needs to operate for business and other needs?
00:11:37.000 Well, first of all, the young people, they need not to buy into this apocalyptic terms by AOC.
00:11:48.000 The world's going to end in 12 years.
00:11:50.000 That two years ago, so 10 years from now it's gone.
00:11:53.000 Let's pay attention here, you know, and don't buy that.
00:11:59.000 You know, China is the one putting in all these coal-fired plants right now in the worst air possible.
00:12:06.000 They're putting 300 of them in this year in those areas.
00:12:10.000 The U.S. has got the cleanest air ever since 1977.
00:12:15.000 So don't pay attention to these apocalyptic terms.
00:12:21.000 The world's not ending.
00:12:22.000 So we don't need to go to these extremes that they're talking about.
00:12:28.000 And you couldn't do it.
00:12:29.000 We're going to be run on hydrocarbons the next 60, 80 years regardless.
00:12:35.000 And if we stop it here in America, guess where you're going to be buying it?
00:12:39.000 It's going to be the Middle East.
00:12:41.000 You know, we produce cleanly.
00:12:43.000 You know, we don't have the pollution that you're going to have in Russia and other parts of the world for energy production.
00:12:51.000 But that's where we're going to be getting it because people still have to have it.
00:12:56.000 And for a lot, lots of reasons.
00:12:59.000 And you just can't do it.
00:13:01.000 You don't need to do it.
00:13:02.000 And you don't need to believe them.
00:13:03.000 And $100 trillion plan AOC came up with?
00:13:09.000 Come on.
00:13:10.000 I don't blame Joe for saying, no, no, we can't do that.
00:13:14.000 But he's got one worse or just bad or worse.
00:13:17.000 So you can't buy into it.
00:13:20.000 And you're doing a great job, Charlie, talking to young people and making sure that they understand the ramifications of what he's talking about.
00:13:30.000 Well, thank you.
00:13:30.000 And we're doing everything we can to try and give a much more accurate picture of America's energy needs and the incredible assets that we have.
00:13:38.000 We are the only major country on the planet that has private ownership of minerals.
00:13:44.000 And because of that, we are more efficient.
00:13:46.000 We are more innovative.
00:13:48.000 We empower more entrepreneurs like yourself.
00:13:51.000 Actually, I would love to have you talk a little bit about that before I ask another question about politically.
00:13:55.000 Can you just tell your story very quickly?
00:13:57.000 Because I think a lot of young people would be inspired by it.
00:14:00.000 You started with nothing and you have grown your company to be one of the biggest, if not the biggest, in the entire country in oil and natural gas.
00:14:08.000 Can you just talk about how you, your story in energy is uniquely American story, whereas in other countries, they have government ownership of minerals.
00:14:17.000 It's just the government owns it, no entrepreneurs, but you really found kind of a niche and you were able to succeed.
00:14:24.000 Well, land ownership here in America is unique.
00:14:26.000 And, you know, thank God the owners out there, the farmers, you know, that we deal with.
00:14:35.000 But, you know, I came from the drilling side and technical side.
00:14:40.000 I'm a geologist, you know, so find oil and gas real important to me and how we did it.
00:14:46.000 But was able to perfect horizontal drilling.
00:14:51.000 That's the ability to go down two miles, turn sideways, and go another two miles.
00:14:56.000 So was able to do that, very fortunate.
00:14:59.000 And it's people like myself that did that.
00:15:02.000 It wasn't anybody else.
00:15:03.000 It wasn't the majors.
00:15:04.000 It was the independent producers like myself that made that happen.
00:15:10.000 So we found the huge Bakken field in North Dakota.
00:15:15.000 We had a big find with Cedar Hills Field in Montana, North Dakota, South Dakota, you know, huge find up there.
00:15:24.000 And actually, those, I'll just give you an example of what that did for consumers.
00:15:30.000 At that time, diesel cost was $4.50 a gallon.
00:15:34.000 With the prolific Bakken that had all these middle distillates in that oil, it drove the price down on diesel to $225, 50% of what it had been.
00:15:47.000 So it's been a complete boon to the consumers.
00:15:52.000 Let's think about what it does for farmers with all the natural gas that we found in shale production and Marcellus, Barnett.
00:16:00.000 Had a farmer call in last week and he said, my God, if Joe gets his wishes, you know, we're not going to be able to make fertilizer out of natural gas.
00:16:11.000 And so our price is going to double.
00:16:16.000 And that's exactly right.
00:16:17.000 And so anyway, but it does.
00:16:20.000 There's a lot of wealth that's created here in America.
00:16:23.000 We've tripled crude oil production and more than triple natural gas production.
00:16:29.000 So it's tremendous.
00:16:30.000 But, you know, I did start from nothing.
00:16:33.000 Our family had energy poverty.
00:16:35.000 We didn't have electricity when I was growing up.
00:16:38.000 I remember seeing REA come over the hills, putting the poles in the ground.
00:16:44.000 So we had kerosene lanterns.
00:16:48.000 So I can appreciate having energy and what it means to everybody.
00:16:55.000 There's still a billion people in the world that doesn't have electricity, for instance.
00:17:00.000 So anyway, I'm very fortunate.
00:17:03.000 I, you know, grew up, I love the oil field.
00:17:07.000 It has been very good to me.
00:17:10.000 Fortunately, I've contributed to what we have in America today.
00:17:16.000 And with energy independence, it's been something.
00:17:20.000 But I say that this is bigger than all of us.
00:17:24.000 It's really made America a strong economy.
00:17:30.000 We're at peace in the world.
00:17:33.000 So I'm glad that I could play just a small role in Charlie.
00:17:37.000 Well, it's very inspiring.
00:17:38.000 And can you talk also about how petroleum does not just impact energy?
00:17:44.000 I got a chuckle when Joe Biden said that he wants every restaurant to have plexiglass.
00:17:50.000 Where does Plexiglax come from?
00:17:52.000 Not to mention your iPhone.
00:17:54.000 So many other things in our life actually come from our oil advantage.
00:18:00.000 Can you talk about how it's not just in energy, but in all walks of the American economy?
00:18:05.000 Yeah, if we didn't have petroleum today, we wouldn't have these clothes on.
00:18:13.000 You know, we wouldn't be able to do this on Skype.
00:18:17.000 You know, it'd be gone.
00:18:19.000 You know, everything, all the plastics, you know, would be history.
00:18:26.000 So it affects everything we do in a big way.
00:18:30.000 So, you know, it takes a big part of our production goes into materials for everyday life that improves the quality of life for people.
00:18:44.000 Yeah, that's very well said.
00:18:46.000 So in closing, are you seeing on the ground people that work in the fields and people that are involved in the industry?
00:18:53.000 Are they in agreement that President Trump is the right choice for four more years?
00:18:57.000 Is there a growing sense of anxiety in your industry about what Joe Biden would do, especially after the last debate?
00:19:06.000 No, I think everybody got real serious.
00:19:10.000 You know, the facts finally come out.
00:19:13.000 This sleight of hand that they played, you know, they finally got caught.
00:19:19.000 And thank goodness I got caught.
00:19:22.000 You know, can you imagine if they hadn't, you know, and what an administration would be with them in there?
00:19:30.000 Holy cow.
00:19:32.000 America would be forever changed and it wouldn't be for the better.
00:19:35.000 It'd be for the worse.
00:19:37.000 And, you know, we've got to feed this guy and everybody's working real hard to do it.
00:19:42.000 Yeah, and I was just in Lubbock and I was in West Texas.
00:19:46.000 And right after the debate, you could see people all of a sudden far more alert and engaged.
00:19:51.000 You really could, because it's real.
00:19:53.000 I mean, you're talking about the end of Midland Odessa, you know, the end of, you know, these West Texas towns that have been incredible success stories thanks to the Permian Basin and a lot of the work that you have done.
00:20:09.000 So my final question, Mr. Ham, is what is your specific advice in the next seven days to the president or to people out there that are trying to persuade energy voters?
00:20:22.000 They might say, I don't know if I think Joe Biden might talk a good game about this, for example, in Pennsylvania.
00:20:30.000 What do you think our closing argument around energy has to be?
00:20:34.000 Well, they have to remind us people, particularly in Pennsylvania, you know, that so much depends on this.
00:20:42.000 They have to remind him of his voting record, what that has been, how he's precluded the use of natural gas in the past with the failed Carter administration.
00:20:52.000 I know a lot of you young guys don't know what that is.
00:20:56.000 All of us older guys do.
00:20:58.000 And it was horrible.
00:20:59.000 You know, you can't have that.
00:21:02.000 And also, the people that depend on us so much, the folks in Wisconsin, Minnesota, that have the white sand minds that we use their product.
00:21:16.000 There's people all over the nation, all the manufacturing jobs.
00:21:21.000 It's so much, you know, and they try to make it about personalities, you know, try to run the president down.
00:21:31.000 It's not about personalities.
00:21:33.000 It's all the things that he stands up for.
00:21:37.000 You know, and it's everything.
00:21:39.000 The economy, my goodness, how could you want a better economy than we've had?
00:21:46.000 Peace in the world?
00:21:48.000 How good is that?
00:21:50.000 Is that not something?
00:21:52.000 I mean, here's the prince of peace and prosperity.
00:21:56.000 That's what he's been.
00:21:58.000 So anyway, don't go for that kind of stuff.
00:22:02.000 I mean, the president's done a wonderful job.
00:22:06.000 And, you know, stand up for him and make sure that you go out and vote.
00:22:11.000 You know, we can't just have 137 million people vote in this election.
00:22:18.000 They've tried to rush everybody out early before they got figured out and had a vote.
00:22:25.000 So we've got to get everybody to the polls.
00:22:29.000 You know, everybody.
00:22:30.000 We need 250 million people in this country to vote to overcome this surge that they put out there.
00:22:37.000 And, you know, don't believe everything that they're telling you.
00:22:41.000 You know, American people are very smart.
00:22:44.000 The voters are very smart in this country.
00:22:47.000 Figure it out this time.
00:22:49.000 Make sure you vote for President Trump.
00:22:52.000 Well said.
00:22:53.000 Well, thank you so much, Mr. Ham.
