00:00:03.000 My name is Charlie Kirk.
00:00:05.000 I run the largest pro American student organization in the country fighting for the future of our republic.
00:00:11.000 My call is to fight evil and to proclaim truth.
00:00:14.000 If the most important thing for you is just feeling good, you're going to end up miserable.
00:00:19.000 But if the most important thing is doing good, you will end up purposeful.
00:00:24.000 College is a scam, everybody.
00:00:26.000 You got to stop sending your kids to college.
00:00:27.000 You should get married as young as possible and have as many kids as possible.

00:00:33.000 Go start a Turning Point USA High School chapter.

00:00:37.000 Sign up and become an activist.
00:00:39.000 I gave my life to the Lord in fifth grade.
00:00:41.000 Most important decision I ever made in my life.
00:00:43.000 And I encourage you to do the same.
00:00:45.000 Here I am.
00:00:46.000 Lord, use me.
00:00:48.000 Buckle up, everybody.
00:00:49.000 Here we go.

00:01:13.000 That is Noble Gold Investments.com.
00:01:17.000 All right.
00:01:18.000 Welcome back, everybody.
00:01:20.000 We are monitoring the first day of the preliminary hearing in the State versus Tyler Robinson.
00:01:28.000 And there was a lot of back and forth going on about exhibits.
00:01:32.000 I saw some reports saying that, you know, they weren't going to show any of the evidence, but actually that was a motion or that was a move made by.
00:01:41.000 The defense, not the state.
00:01:43.000 The state is moving to show them all, but the defense has a concern about those being displayed or published, quote unquote, published before they've been admitted as evidence.
00:01:54.000 So that's the back and forth going on there, which is interesting.
00:02:00.000 I do have some notes on that.
00:02:04.000 The hearing started with arguments over publishing of evidence beyond the courtroom per the defense request, per the defense.
00:02:13.000 The state wants evidence published.
00:02:15.000 Defense doesn't want anything to be public, especially prior to the judge admitting his evidence.
00:02:19.000 So that's the central tension there.
00:02:22.000 We've got Jay Town, former prosecutor, that is going to be joining us in just a second.
00:02:29.000 And we also have, which I think is a very important guest, we have Austin Metcalf's father, and that's Jeff Metcalf.
00:02:39.000 He's going to be joining us.
00:02:40.000 I just reached out to him because there's very few people that can understand.
00:02:46.000 The torment that Erica Kirk and Rob and Catherine Charlie's parents are experiencing right now, just having to be in the courtroom with Tyler Robinson.
00:02:59.000 I can only imagine the agony that they are currently experiencing.
00:03:03.000 So please pray for Erica, pray for Rob and Catherine, pray for the whole team, the larger team that's in Utah today.
00:03:13.000 And it is true, Don Jr. is in the courtroom by Erica, Rob, and Catherine's side.
00:03:20.000 Standing in solidarity with them.
00:03:21.000 So we appreciate Don for doing that.
00:03:26.000 Blake, any thoughts?
00:03:27.000 I'm going to pull something together here.
00:03:29.000 I mean, we told you last week we're committed to seeing this process through from beginning to end.
00:03:36.000 So we know this is a little unusual from our normal show, but it's exactly what we want to be doing in this moment.
00:03:42.000 We want to.
00:03:44.000 There's been so many false claims about this process online.
00:03:48.000 There's been so much, I think, agitation because people have been waiting for this.
00:03:52.000 They want to see the process of justice.
00:03:54.000 Play out.
00:03:55.000 And because there were so many delays, a lot of other stuff intruded.
00:03:59.000 And we're so glad we're finally at this point where we're seeing witnesses come up.
00:04:02.000 We're seeing people talk about it.
00:04:05.000 And we're committed to showing every minute of it that we're able to.
00:04:09.000 Yeah.
00:04:11.000 So, like I said, we've got Jay Town and we've got Austin Metcalf's father.
00:04:19.000 Yeah, so this is interesting, too.
00:04:20.000 So, there was a, you just heard the last witness before they took the break is actually a UVU police officer.
00:04:28.000 I'm not sure his name presently, but essentially, he said he heard a shot.
00:04:34.000 And then he was asked what kind of shot.
00:04:36.000 He said it sounded like a rifle because it was louder.
00:04:40.000 He seemed to be familiar with the type of shot.
00:04:43.000 So, you know, the internet's going to be full of all these alternate theories.
00:04:46.000 Here's the police officer that was on duty that day saying, I heard a rifle shot.
00:04:52.000 Okay.
00:04:53.000 So that's a key piece of evidence there.
00:04:58.000 Here we go.
00:05:00.000 The defense attempted to object to entering the first exhibit, a photo of the courtyard, in for publication.
00:05:06.000 The state of Utah.
00:05:08.000 So, in this photograph, is this photograph a fair and accurate depiction of the area of UVU campus on September 10, 2025?
00:05:15.000 Defense, Your Honor, we would object to inability to inauthenticate.
00:05:20.000 There's not been a foundation laid that this officer took this photo, can verify when it was taken or by whom it was taken.
00:05:26.000 So, we would object.
00:05:27.000 So, this is the sort of back and forth that is going to play out over the next couple of days.
00:05:35.000 We are being sort of warned that this is going to be typical.
00:05:38.000 That, you know, they're going to present evidence.
00:05:41.000 There's going to be objections.
00:05:43.000 It all is very procedural.
00:05:46.000 And I mean, I don't know.
00:05:48.000 There hasn't been a whole heck of a lot presented yet.
00:05:50.000 There hasn't.
00:05:51.000 There was a mention of meth that I'm trying to get clarity on.
00:05:56.000 Oh, also, Judge Graff has entered in a picture for evidence of the screwdriver found by Officer Bagley.
00:06:03.000 So that's his name into the record.
00:06:06.000 I will go ahead and admit.
00:06:08.000 So that was a direct quote from Judge Graff.
00:06:10.000 So that was the.
00:06:11.000 The officer that heard the rifle shot, Officer Bagley, he apparently was the one that discovered the screwdriver on top of the building.
00:06:22.000 Building allegedly used for assembling, disassembling the rifle.
00:06:26.000 Yeah.
00:06:30.000 And I know there's some controversy over assembling or disassembling, so we'll hold on that and not make any judgments until the evidence is presented in court.
00:06:40.000 So that's about where we're at right now.
00:06:44.000 You know, we weren't expecting.
00:06:46.000 Oh, we have Jay on the phone right now.
00:06:49.000 All right.
00:06:50.000 Jay Town, are you there?
00:06:54.000 I'm here.
00:06:54.000 I am here.
00:06:55.000 So sorry we weren't able to do video today, but that's okay.
00:07:00.000 It's better they're staring at you anyway.
00:07:02.000 No, no, that's great.
00:07:03.000 I appreciate it, Jay.
00:07:04.000 I know we've been, it's very difficult to kind of predict the clock for this hearing.
00:07:10.000 They keep kind of suggesting they're going to have a break at one time, and then it either goes long or they get delayed on the first.
00:07:18.000 You know, the first marker, and so then everything, the timeline is shifting, but I guess that's what we have to expect this week.
00:07:23.000 All right.
00:07:23.000 So, Jay, you have been monitoring this hearing, right?
00:07:30.000 Very, very closely.
00:07:32.000 You're a career prosecutor, you're a former U.S. attorney.
00:07:35.000 Tell us what you have observed from this hearing thus far.
00:07:39.000 Well, a couple of things.
00:07:40.000 One, from the prosecution perspective, they've been very meticulous.
00:07:44.000 You know, anytime you put a witness on, especially a professional like a police officer, which my understanding is there's going to be four police officers to testify to probably 40 or 50 different exhibits.
00:07:58.000 And you're going to go through their experience.
00:07:59.000 You're going to go through, you know, where they were on that day.
00:08:04.000 And then they're going to start to really, really narrow the focus about everything that they saw that is relative to the crime.
00:08:10.000 You mentioned I heard a rifle shot.
00:08:14.000 Why do you say that?
00:08:15.000 Well, because a pistol, a firearm, they make different noises.
00:08:20.000 And you can tell a pistol shot from a 30 odd six.
00:08:24.000 And so that was, I think, pretty interesting considering some of the tinfoil hat crowd out there, right?
00:08:33.000 But at the same time, the defense counsel is going to make this as laborious as possible.
00:08:40.000 There are no rules of evidence in a preliminary hearing, yet they've objected to every single objection.
00:08:47.000 Exhibit thus far based on foundation.
00:08:50.000 Now, let me just say for everybody if your daughter or a friend takes a picture of your backyard, just because you didn't take the picture on that day, and maybe you weren't even in the country on the day that picture was taken, you can still authenticate a picture of your backyard as a fair and accurate depiction of your backyard.
00:09:11.000 And that's all he was asking the officers to do.
00:09:13.000 Frankly, I've had Google Earth images authenticated by police officers or by the owner of the wherever.
00:09:21.000 That the Google Earth was depicting.
00:09:23.000 So, defense is going to make this laborious.
00:09:27.000 The thing about that is, if they do that in front of a jury, a jury will hate them because they are just dragging it on, just making it hard unnecessarily because all the objections are overruled and then the evidence comes anyway.
00:09:42.000 So, we would just waste another 20 minutes because you guys wanted to jump up for some preservation of the record objection that was meaningless.
00:09:52.000 Yeah, and so you think that this is just a preliminary trial tactic, then, Jay?
00:09:58.000 That they will, do you think that?
00:09:59.000 I mean, it could be, you know, but typically you just wouldn't, you know, your prelim hearing tactic and your trial tactic, they're about the same thing.
00:10:09.000 And if we're, you know, if history is any indicator, they've objected to everything.
00:10:15.000 They've been a very litigious defense group.
00:10:18.000 And so I don't know that they're not going to object to everything on the record, build a record, because they know.
00:10:25.000 Here's the thing the reason you do that, the reason why you look scared is because you are scared because you know there's overwhelming evidence against your client.
00:10:35.000 And the only way to save his life is to hope for an appeal, an appellate court somewhere that says, you know what, that judge shouldn't have overruled that.
00:10:44.000 It should have been sustained and yada, yada.
00:10:47.000 And therefore, you got to have a new trial.
00:10:50.000 Well, okay, well, we're just going to take a plea deal now because it's 15 years from now and some of the witnesses are dead or.
00:10:57.000 Or don't remember, it's just an old case.
00:11:01.000 And that's the hope.
00:11:03.000 That's the tactic.
00:11:04.000 I've seen it done over and over again.
00:11:07.000 There's nothing new here.
00:11:08.000 The evidence is overwhelming against Tyler Robinson, it's in the indictment, right?
00:11:15.000 I mean, just the, but the evidence itself, and we haven't even heard from, you know, the lover and the parents from Tyler Robinson where admissions were likely made by Tyler Robinson.
00:11:31.000 Yeah, that's interesting.
00:11:32.000 I mean, we've got an exhibit.
00:11:35.000 I mean, they've got a list, right, of exhibits that they're planning on, right?
00:11:43.000 So we've got a drone image of UBU, photo of the screwdriver, daytime photo of sniper perch, photo of sniper perch, video of mother with children in crowd, written statement, video of shooting from behind the questioner, written statement, video of shooting from behind Charlie Kirk, written statement, video of shooting from behind the booth, written statement.
00:12:07.000 Photo of the rifle in the bushes, photo of the rifle in the bushes, photo of rifle in box, medical examiner report, UVU surveillance, doorbell camera.
00:12:17.000 And then they've got a recorded statement from Lance Twiggs.
00:12:22.000 So, I mean, there's a ton here.
00:12:26.000 I want to talk to you about an issue so many Americans face, and that's health insurance.
00:12:32.000 There's an organization I really, really appreciate called Christian Healthcare Ministries.
00:12:37.000 CHM is a faith based alternative to health insurance.
00:12:41.000 And this is real stuff, folks.
00:12:43.000 Like, you got to listen in.
00:12:44.000 With CHM, you're not paying into a company's profit margin.
00:12:47.000 You're investing in a community with less overhead than the competition.
00:12:52.000 You get reliable support through the giving and prayer of fellow members.
00:12:56.000 Members contribute every month to help pay for each other's medical bills, allowing believers to afford the care they need.
00:13:02.000 Because they're not insurance, you get access to your preferred doctor or hospital without network restrictions.
00:13:08.000 You heard that right.
00:13:09.000 If you want to see massive savings in your healthcare budget, CHM. Has four low cost programs for every stage of life, starting at just a hundred and fifteen dollars a month.
00:13:18.000 Plus, you can enroll or switch your program at any time.
00:13:22.000 See why so many believers are taking a leap of faith.
00:13:26.000 Start today by visiting chministries.orgslash Charlie and use promo code Charlie for a fifty percent credit towards your first month.
00:13:34.000 That's chministries.orgslash Charlie and use promo code Charlie.
00:13:41.000 You know, Jay, it begs the question because I saw some people mentioning this on social media.
00:13:48.000 You know, other lawyers kind of chiming in.
00:13:49.000 And I don't know if this is specific to Utah law, but there were some people that were sort of saying, I'm surprised they didn't waive the preliminary, the defense didn't waive the preliminary hearing.
00:14:01.000 What do you make of that?
00:14:03.000 Is that even an option in the state of Utah, first of all?
00:14:05.000 And assuming that they had a choice one way or the other, can you surmise tactics from either decision?
00:14:14.000 Well, I am surprised, frankly, that they didn't.
00:14:18.000 Waive the preliminary hearing.
00:14:21.000 The prosecutor said that they have received, that the defense counsel has received every piece of evidence.
00:14:26.000 So it's not like they're just wondering, is there any evidence against Tyler Robinson?
00:14:31.000 They've received it all.
00:14:32.000 They know that the evidence is overwhelming.
00:14:35.000 So why air it all this week when there's not even any rules of evidence, right?
00:14:40.000 So anything that might be inadmissible is not inadmissible this week.
00:14:44.000 And what's happening is the world is watching, people are hearing the evidence against Tyler Robinson.
00:14:50.000 No longer will defense counsel be able to hide against the tinfoil hat crowd and hope that they can draw some of those jurors for the actual jury trial because there won't be any legs for the tinfoil hat crowd to stand on because it will be so overwhelming.
00:15:07.000 The admissions, the ballistics reports, the fingerprints, the DNA, some of the other evidence that likely exists that hasn't even been commented on yet.
00:15:19.000 And so.
00:15:22.000 Waive it.
00:15:23.000 I mean, that's not like, that's the other thing is that it's not like this is going to be sworn testimony from eyewitnesses where they said they saw a small dog one day and then on the stand they say they saw a puppy and they try to make reasonable doubt out of that.
00:15:40.000 The hearsay is admissible.
00:15:42.000 So, you know, the officers, when they're having these conversations with other people and they testify about those conversations, that would be hearsay at trial.
00:15:51.000 So there's really no ability to impeach on that hearsay because it won't even be admissible at trial.
00:15:56.000 You have to actually call the witness.
00:15:57.000 So, again, I don't know that this defense team is the dream team.
00:16:03.000 That's kind of the conclusion I'm reaching at the moment.
00:16:08.000 Any thoughts?
00:16:11.000 I've been expressing all this bafflement to people that it seems every time there's a famous trial, the rules are totally different.
00:16:16.000 We obviously have 50 states, but it's all just very overwhelming.
00:16:20.000 So, we're very grateful to have you here, someone who's experienced, to walk us through this.
00:16:27.000 A thought I've had, I know they say they plan for this to take about the week.
00:16:32.000 It's going to be full days other than Wednesday.
00:16:34.000 They have a half day.
00:16:36.000 Is there any chance this ends surprisingly early or goes surprisingly long?
00:16:39.000 Could this go into the next week?
00:16:41.000 With this defense team, it's possible.
00:16:44.000 I mean, the prosecution really, if the judge allows things to move along, the prosecution really should be done today.
00:16:53.000 Most of the stuff is just being entered, like the medical exam.
00:16:57.000 I mean, they have to prove that Charlie Kirk did, in fact, Died and that he died from a gunshot wound, and that it was deemed a homicide by the ME.
00:17:07.000 So, those I mean, those are all just sort of admitted pro forma.
00:17:12.000 A lot of these exhibits will be admitted pro forma.
00:17:14.000 So, they should be done today, maybe first thing in the morning.
00:17:19.000 But this defense team, for some reason, they want to drag their client through and let the whole world see just how guilty he is.
00:17:30.000 You know, maybe poison the jury pool.
00:17:31.000 Maybe that's the only tactic that makes sense here is that they're trying to make Bois Deer so hard because everybody has seen such overwhelming evidence of Tyler Robinson's guilt.
00:17:43.000 Well, so you say they could get it all done today.
00:17:45.000 So, for example, the Lance Twiggs statement that they have that they can't cross examine, but are we going to hear the whole statement?
00:17:53.000 Are they going to give a summary of the statement?
00:17:56.000 Are they just going to state, show the video?
00:17:57.000 We have this and, you know, we'll get into it.
00:18:01.000 It's a video interview that they did with them.
00:18:02.000 So I would presume, Jay, that they're going to show the whole thing.
00:18:05.000 Thing, right?
00:18:06.000 Or at least they're going to show the video.
00:18:08.000 They are, or at least play the audio of it if the judge doesn't want to show it, which is that's fine.
00:18:15.000 If I'm the state at this point, every piece of evidence I'm putting in because you guys are making me go through this ridiculous process.
00:18:24.000 You know what your client did, so does he, but you want to go through it?
00:18:28.000 I am going to paint the most guilty person that ever lived for the whole world to see and behold.
00:18:28.000 Fine.
00:18:36.000 So, I'm not pulling punches if I'm the prosecution at this point.
00:18:39.000 You're going to make me waste a week on this?
00:18:41.000 Fine.
00:18:42.000 Guess what?
00:18:43.000 Your guy is going to look like the most guilty person that ever lived.
00:18:46.000 And he is.
00:18:47.000 So, go ahead, state of Utah.
00:18:49.000 Yeah, interesting.
00:18:50.000 So, you think the tactics here then, and maybe I'm reading into what you said, Jay, is that they're going to make this laborious.
00:18:58.000 They're going to make it as painful as possible.
00:19:02.000 Maybe either just to keep pushing the psychology, maybe taint a jury pool.
00:19:10.000 Do you think that there's a tactic here where they're trying to get the evidence out so that because the internet does what the internet does with this stuff and the tinfoil hot crowd, as you call them, are they banking on that, do you think?
00:19:23.000 It could be.
00:19:24.000 I mean, they could just be banking on breaking the will of the prosecution that they just don't have it in them, the energy to fight for the Kirk family, for Charlie Kirk.
00:19:35.000 And that very well could be that they think that maybe they'll just give up and.
00:19:42.000 Give them life without parole.
00:19:44.000 I don't think that's going to happen.
00:19:45.000 Yeah.
00:19:47.000 It better not happen.
00:19:48.000 But that, I mean, look, all these strategies are losers, guys.
00:19:48.000 Yeah.
00:19:52.000 That's the thing you got to remember from the defense perspective, the defense lawyer's perspective, everything they do is going to cause a loss, right?
00:20:00.000 Their guy is going to be found guilty and likely sentenced to death.
00:20:05.000 So if that's the case, then, I mean, what strategy isn't worth trying, right?
00:20:13.000 I think that's a really interesting point.
00:20:15.000 Yeah.
00:20:16.000 When you sort of like don't have the evidence on your side and there's not a whole lot of outs, you're just kind of throwing stuff at the wall to see if you could get the judge to do something that could trigger a trial or get it reversible on appeal.
00:20:16.000 Yeah.
00:20:33.000 I find that like a really interesting psychology for the defense, to be honest.
00:20:36.000 People keep speculating that the defense might be hoping on can we get a weirdo on the jury who's just going to.
00:20:46.000 Who'd be open to thinking Israel did this, the Trump administration did this?
00:20:51.000 I imagine it's basically malpractice for the lawyer to openly play to that and they don't want to end up getting disbarred.
00:20:58.000 But would that be in the back of their heads that the longer we drag this out, the more crazy people there will be and that could improve our odds of a mistrial?
00:21:07.000 Well, perhaps.
00:21:08.000 I mean, you do broaden the pool.
00:21:09.000 The longer the crazies get to run around on the internet, then the more crazies there might be.
00:21:16.000 The prosecution is going to have a team of people scrubbing social media, scrubbing chat rooms, everything they can get their hands on to be looking for anything as it relates to Charlie Kirk.
00:21:30.000 And there are 12 people in the state of Utah that haven't formed an opinion about Tyler Robinson's guilt, but also don't subscribe to the tinfoil hat crowd, I guess, as I'm going to continue to call them.
00:21:44.000 Because, you know, I mean, they can be fair minded, open minded.
00:21:48.000 They have to be able to subscribe to the death penalty.
00:21:51.000 That'll be difficult in the state of Utah as well.
00:21:54.000 Very conservative, very religious state.
00:21:56.000 But here in great state Alabama, you know, we do it on the regulars.
00:22:01.000 And, you know, some people can get past it because justice is important.
00:22:07.000 So, again, the defense counsel, they're going to try every single tactic.
00:22:11.000 They're going to try to break the will of the prosecution.
00:22:14.000 And that ain't going to happen.
00:22:15.000 Yeah, I don't really see.
00:22:16.000 I mean, when you've got this much evidence, right, Jay, you would think that the prosecution is sort of willing to.
00:22:22.000 Go through brick walls if they have to, you know, all these objections, all this procedural stuff.
00:22:28.000 I mean, I can't imagine that they would be cowed by that.
00:22:35.000 So we're going to go back to the hearing.
00:22:35.000 All right.
00:22:36.000 Jay Town, thank you so much for joining.
00:22:39.000 We're going to be in close contact this week, my friend.
00:22:41.000 Thank you so much.
00:22:42.000 I appreciate it.
00:22:43.000 You got it.
00:22:44.000 Thank you.
00:22:47.000 Hi, folks.
00:22:48.000 Andrew Colvett here.

00:23:46.000 All right, welcome back.
00:23:49.000 Lots of information there that was just gone through.
00:23:53.000 And we see the defense cross examining Officer Bagley.
00:24:00.000 You know, we hear about the sniper's nest, the impressions on the ground, how Officer Bagley.
00:24:08.000 You know, first experience the noises, the sound of the shot, what he put in his police report.
00:24:17.000 Very procedural, very by the book.
00:24:20.000 Everything feels very deliberate.
00:24:22.000 These are my general takeaways here.
00:24:26.000 I don't see anything that's surprising yet, but noteworthy, certainly.
00:24:31.000 I mean, you see it.
00:24:33.000 I was messaging a friend of mine.
00:24:34.000 It's a little remarkable.
00:24:36.000 Obviously, it's such a high profile case than when you see these police officers being asked, What were you on campus for?
00:24:42.000 Oh, there was a guest speaker that day.
00:24:44.000 Do you know the name of that guest speaker?
00:24:46.000 Yes, I do.
00:24:48.000 And they are really laying that all out, but this gets back to you want to make sure everything is entirely by the book as this goes through, precisely because it's so high profile, precisely because there are people who will seize on literally anything they possibly can to, we believe, help the person we believe is guilty escape.
00:25:11.000 Yeah.
00:25:12.000 Full culpability.
00:25:13.000 Yeah, you're right.
00:25:13.000 It's the sort of procedural nature of it is fascinating to watch, actually.
00:25:19.000 So you've got Officer Bagley.
00:25:21.000 So he says, Yeah, I signed up for an overtime shift for this event.
00:25:27.000 And the way that they have the exhibits so that they're not displayed publicly.
00:25:33.000 I think this is an interesting clip to show, just to kind of go through the way that, you know, the step by step process that has to be followed here based on Judge Graff's instructions.
00:25:44.000 So he actually has to get.
00:25:45.000 Off the witness stand to go and point where he found the screwdriver.
00:25:48.000 So you don't actually get to see it, but he's off camera pointing to it.
00:25:51.000 Let's go ahead and play it just as a good example.
00:25:53.000 Sot 23.
00:25:54.000 Go ahead and publish Exhibit 3.1.
00:25:57.000 Officer Bagley, so you testified that this is the screwdriver as you saw it on September 10th, 2025, correct?
00:26:03.000 Yes.
00:26:04.000 I'm going to, and this was on top of which roof?
00:26:09.000 The Lowell City building.
00:26:10.000 And in relationship to the entrance, the stairway, and when you hopped over the rail to get there, where was it located?
00:26:17.000 About 10 or 15 feet in.
00:26:18.000 Okay.
00:26:19.000 If I could, Your Honor, bring up state's exhibit number two that was previously admitted.
00:26:26.000 I would like to have Officer Bagley come down from the witness stand and point on that exhibit where, approximately where the screwdriver was located.
00:26:37.000 So if you can describe where you saw that screwdriver, point to that.
00:26:41.000 Yeah, so this is the Lossie building right here with the light gray.
00:26:44.000 Here's the guardrail in the center of the picture with the red brick.
00:26:47.000 Just over that, about 10, 15 feet in, about right there.
00:26:51.000 You can take your seat again.
00:26:51.000 Thank you.
00:26:54.000 So that was interesting.
00:26:56.000 I think that's just a good example of how we have to navigate these exhibits so that they're not published.
00:27:03.000 Just a quick programming note for anybody watching on the stream.
00:27:08.000 We have Jet Metcalf, Austin Metcalf's dad, just about to join us.
00:27:13.000 And I know he's got some words of encouragement for Erica.
00:27:17.000 You know, speaking of which, there's an interesting report here.
00:27:22.000 I'll try and get the graphic for everybody here.
00:27:25.000 I've confirmed that this is actually a reporter inside the courtroom.
00:27:32.000 Here, I guess this is, let me get the name of this reporter.
00:27:36.000 Senior national correspondent for News Nation, Brian Enton.
00:27:41.000 If you could throw that graphic up when you get it, just like a screen grab of the tweet, but he said, seen from inside the Tyler Robinson courtroom, Erica Kirk was crying before the hearing started.
00:27:50.000 Donald Trump Jr. is in the front row with his wife.
00:27:53.000 Tyler Robinson was laughing with his attorney before the hearing started.
00:27:57.000 Erica left during the description of the shooting.
00:28:02.000 So, I mean, I just think it's like important just to kind of understand that this is.
00:28:08.000 You know, there's a lot of noise, there's a lot of attention on this, there's a lot of you know, back and forth.
00:28:15.000 I'm sure some of you have seen my uh, my Twitter back and forth with Candace or Blake's.
00:28:21.000 All that's noise because actually, what is really important here is the fact that these are human beings that are dealing with this awful experience, and I just can't imagine um, being in that courtroom right now, and the fact that Erica has to do that and be in front of all those people for something she She's a victim here, and Rob and Catherine, Kirk, Charlie's parents as well.
00:28:50.000 And we should note we've seen Erica has never seen a video of the shooting.
00:28:56.000 She's never really listened closely to a description of it.
00:29:00.000 She does avoid doing that.
00:29:02.000 And so when he says she walked out, she's walking out because the officer is describing what he saw and what happened.
00:29:10.000 And that's still very challenging for her.
00:29:13.000 Yeah, absolutely.
00:29:15.000 And I believe we have our guest is just about ready, Jeff Metcalf.
00:29:21.000 Again, I reached out to Jeff because there's very few people, especially in sort of the more recent days and weeks and months, that could relate to what Eric is going through and Rob and Catherine, of course, Charlie's parents, more than Jeff.
00:29:39.000 And so Jeff Metcalf, Austin Metcalf's father, joins us now.
00:29:45.000 Jeff, welcome to the show and thank you so much for making the time.
00:29:50.000 I see you're wearing a beautiful shirt there, sir.
00:29:52.000 Thank you.
00:29:54.000 Thank you for having me on.
00:29:56.000 Yeah.
00:29:58.000 You know, with you, it's kind of easy because I'm not talking about details of the case.
00:30:03.000 I'm not talking about procedural elements that the lawyers are throwing out there.
00:30:09.000 I just want to hear from you.
00:30:11.000 And I'm sure Erica and Rob and Catherine, Charlie's parents, would love to hear from you too because.
00:30:17.000 You've been through something terrible and tragic and awful, and you've experienced the crazy media attention and the social media of it all.
00:30:28.000 And you were a victim because you lost your son, and you had to go through hell to get justice for him.
00:30:35.000 And so the floor is yours, sir.
00:30:38.000 We'd love to hear what you want to tell Erica, what you want to tell Rob and Catherine in this moment.
00:30:43.000 Well, first, my condolences go out to them.
00:30:46.000 There aren't really words that can make you feel better, but knowing that someone has gone through and understands maybe what you're feeling gives you a little bit more comfort when it comes from them.
00:31:06.000 But I just tell them, you know, I know they're strong in their faith.
00:31:10.000 So am I.
00:31:11.000 And that's what's gotten me through so far for me.
00:31:14.000 But sitting in that courtroom for the first time, Ever facing the person that's accused of murdering, you know, either your spouse or your child?
00:31:27.000 It takes a range of emotions.
00:31:30.000 It's a roller coaster ride while you sit there.
00:31:33.000 And to be able to maintain and keep your thought process coherent is very challenging, at the least.
00:31:44.000 There's a million different emotions that pull you a hundred different ways.
00:31:48.000 Uh, you know, there's the human side of you that sits on your shoulder and whispers in your ear the things you really don't want to hear or shouldn't hear, and then there's the little guy on this side of your shoulder who whispers in your ear and tells you what you should do and what you shouldn't do and what you and who you try to be.
00:32:07.000 Um, it goes back to an old Indian story about the young lad who asked the chief, you know, what's inside of us, and he said, Well, there's two wolves that live inside you, and one lives, you know, full of hate, anger, fear.
00:32:21.000 And the other one is love, compassion, kindness.
00:32:26.000 And the young Indian said, Well, which one wins?
00:32:30.000 And he said, The ones you feed the most.
00:32:33.000 So it's the same thing with emotions when you have, like, for forgiveness.
00:32:39.000 For me, people, when, because this is what happened when Erica stood up there and said, She forgave him.
00:32:46.000 That was the same exact thing I did.
00:32:49.000 And my phone started blowing up.
00:32:52.000 Because they're like, oh my God, you know, she just forgave him just like you.
00:32:57.000 And I said, people don't understand forgiveness.
00:33:00.000 Forgiveness is for me.
00:33:02.000 So I don't carry hate, anger, revenge inside of me.
00:33:08.000 You have to let that go and rely on your faith because it says, vengeance is mine, saith the Lord.
00:33:17.000 So, I mean, you can go scriptural, but realistically, for your mental health, You really need to learn how to let that go so you don't carry it around so it won't eat you up like cancer.
00:33:30.000 And that's the reason I was able to forgive so fast because I know what I needed to do for me as a Christian.
00:33:38.000 It doesn't make me any more or better or less of a Christian because at this point, even my son cannot forgive him for what he did.
00:33:46.000 And I told him, that's fine, you don't have to.
00:33:49.000 But this is a personal choice for me and a personal choice with my faith.
00:33:54.000 That this is the path that I choose to go.
00:33:57.000 Now, I don't forgive this person for his actions.
00:34:01.000 I mean, I have to forgive him and hope to God that he can repent and find Jesus Christ as a savior.
00:34:06.000 Doesn't take the fact away that he murdered my son.
00:34:09.000 Doesn't take the fact away I'm still human and have emotions.
00:34:12.000 Don't think I'm not angry.
00:34:14.000 Don't think I'm not sad.
00:34:15.000 Don't think I don't cry.
00:34:17.000 I mean, all these things are true.
00:34:19.000 But to make it the final destination of where I know I'm going to end up right beside Austin at some point, and then he can tell me why.
00:34:28.000 The understanding, because I don't have understanding at this moment.
00:34:32.000 I just have to trust God's plan because I don't understand why He needed my son at 17.
00:34:39.000 But I'm also very aware there's evil in this world and it does exist.
00:34:46.000 And like I've always said, light always overcomes darkness.
00:34:52.000 So no matter what, I've learned to try to tell myself this is only temporary.
00:35:00.000 Whatever's happening to me is only temporary.
00:35:03.000 You will get through it because a saying I came with a long time ago is if God brought you to it, he can bring you through it.
00:35:14.000 So, I have no idea what God has planned for me.
00:35:19.000 I sure didn't see this coming at all.
00:35:23.000 But it does reshape you, it does break you down, and it does, you become someone different because you're never going to be the person you were before.
00:35:34.000 That person is gone.
00:35:36.000 And you have to learn how to live in, I don't want to say a new normal because I hate that phrase because there's nothing normal about it.
00:35:47.000 But you have to learn how.
00:35:49.000 What I chose to do is one of the things I've learned is instead of learning to learn how to live without him, I'm going to live for him.
00:35:59.000 So I'm going to keep his name out there.
00:36:03.000 I'm going to do, you know, I'll probably form a 501c3 and get some nonprofit and organization, you know, all in for the Austin Metcalf Foundation or something, because I want to keep it going.
00:36:17.000 I want to help people out there.
00:36:19.000 I want to be able to.
00:36:21.000 Keep the message alive because I think nowadays in today's society, the youth has no impulse control, de escalation skills, conflict resolution skills.
00:36:34.000 I think some of these things need to be taught early on, even in school.
00:36:39.000 I think it could be a curriculum.
00:36:41.000 I would love to go around and speak to high school and colleges and wherever they would want to hear me speak upon this.
00:36:48.000 I would love to be approached so I could spread the word and do something like that.
00:36:54.000 I mean, because right now at this point, I really don't have a clue what I'm going to do next with my life.
00:37:00.000 And I just trust God that He's going to point me in the direction.
00:37:04.000 You know, I mean, yes, I'm a big fan of Turning Point.
00:37:09.000 Yes, I was a big fan of Charlie Kirk.
00:37:11.000 I mean, so, I mean, has nothing.
00:37:14.000 A lot of people will say, well, you know, he was racist.
00:37:17.000 He was, no, he wasn't.
00:37:18.000 No, he wasn't.
00:37:20.000 If you listen to him, just like, you know, I was taken out of context, people can take snippets.
00:37:27.000 And then turn it into their narrative.
00:37:31.000 And that's totally unfair.
00:37:33.000 And to misrepresent someone like that, I mean, really, what kind of person are you and what are you trying to achieve?
00:37:40.000 Are you just out there stirring the pot, trying to get clicks, trying to make a living off social media or TikTok?
00:37:46.000 I mean, are you actually have value that you're putting out there?
00:37:52.000 Or is it really just crap?
00:37:53.000 Jeff, that's what I hear you saying you want to take this tragedy and turn it into purpose.
00:38:01.000 And we talked about speaking on campuses or at schools or whatever.
00:38:05.000 We'd love to help you do that because I do think you have a really important message to spread and to live with that purpose, live for Austin.
00:38:14.000 I find so much of what you were just saying, Blake and I lost somebody too, but not on the level of you or Erica or Rob and Catherine.
00:38:25.000 But I felt like I related to it a lot as well because you do kind of realize that the life you had before all this happened will never be the same.
00:38:33.000 And you have to live.
00:38:35.000 In our current moment, with our current reality.
00:38:37.000 I think that's something I've been reticent to accept.
00:38:40.000 So, even hearing you say that was powerful for me to hear.
00:38:46.000 If you could go back in time and buy oil before the world relied on it, would you?
00:38:51.000 Of course you would.
00:38:51.000 Anybody would.
00:38:52.000 So, why aren't you buying silver right now?
00:38:54.000 The people who recognized oil early didn't just make money, they got ahead of one of the biggest economic shifts in history.
00:39:01.000 And today, a similar opportunity is unfolding with silver.
00:39:04.000 Silver is more than a precious metal, it's a critical resource used in solar panels, electric vehicles, defense systems.
00:39:11.000 AI infrastructure and the massive data centers powering that digital world.
00:39:15.000 While demand keeps growing, it's still affordable enough that the average American can start accumulating it right now.
00:39:21.000 That's why investors are turning to silver to protect against inflation and to own one of the world's most important strategic resources.
00:39:28.000 Don't be the person who looks back in 10 years and says, I saw it coming, I just didn't act.
00:39:32.000 Visit Noble Gold Investments.comslash Kirk and learn how easy it is to own physical silver.
00:39:38.000 That's Noble Gold Investments.comslash Kirk.
00:39:41.000 Own the metal the future depends on.
00:39:46.000 Well, I mean, I'm just a normal guy.
00:39:51.000 I'm a vessel that God chooses to use however He sees fit.
00:39:57.000 I don't always agree or like it, but I trust Him and He's putting things in front of me that I need to open my eyes and be aware of, just as this interview today.
00:40:13.000 I mean, I've always been a huge Turning Point USA fan, I was a huge Charlie Kirk fan.
00:40:18.000 Just to be able to be on the show and talk and understand, you know.
00:40:24.000 Now, I'm not going to say that my loss is the same as Erica's loss because it's not.
00:40:29.000 Hers was a spouse, mine was a child, but that doesn't take away from her loss or my loss at all because loss affects all of us differently, just like grief affects all of us differently.
00:40:40.000 And there's no timeline, there's no instruction book, there's no getting over it.
00:40:46.000 I mean, that doesn't happen.
00:40:49.000 And the worst thing someone can say to you, and I know they're always trying to be nice, is, you know, how are you doing?
00:40:55.000 Are you okay?
00:40:56.000 Okay.
00:40:58.000 To me, that's the dumbest question in the world.
00:40:59.000 Don't ever ask me that.
00:41:02.000 I'm like, seriously, just I understand you don't know what to say.
00:41:07.000 Just put your hand on my shoulder and pray.
00:41:09.000 I mean, you don't have to be, you know, sometimes it's awkward for people.
00:41:14.000 A bunch of my friends even, like, we don't know what to say to you.
00:41:18.000 I said, you don't have to say anything, just come sit down beside me.
00:41:22.000 You have to say a word.
00:41:22.000 That's all.
00:41:24.000 Just your presence tells me you're here for me.
00:41:27.000 That's all I need to know.
00:41:29.000 There's no words that are going to make me feel better.
00:41:32.000 There's no words that are going to make Erica feel better.
00:41:37.000 That healing and that feeling better happens within us, the person who suffered the tragedy.
00:41:45.000 Yes, I appreciate the condolences and the love and the support throughout the nation, the world, the community, my friends, my family.
00:41:55.000 But you still have to go through the process.
00:41:58.000 You still have to grieve.
00:42:00.000 And there are five phases, and they can raise their head at any time.
00:42:04.000 And I can be fine for a week, and then a tsunami of emotion will hit me just instantly.
00:42:11.000 It could be a trigger of a favorite song, or a favorite place, or a favorite food, or just any little memory that can be triggered will force you right back into that flow of emotions.
00:42:22.000 Well, basically, you lose it.
00:42:25.000 You start crying, and you know, hopefully, you know.
00:42:30.000 You're in somewhere, a safe space, hopefully, but the truth of the matter is, you know, you don't control this.
00:42:37.000 And it's, you try to learn how to deal with it because you never know when it actually is going to hit.
00:42:46.000 So you just try to, you know, catch your triggers, pray, and, you know, allow yourself to grieve.
00:42:55.000 Don't try to hold stuff in, let it out.
00:42:58.000 And if you don't, I'll tell you, if you keep it inside, it's going to eat you up like cancer.
00:43:04.000 And you're going to be miserable and you're going to be bitter and you're going to carry grudges.
00:43:08.000 And it's going to affect the way you raise your children, the way you talk to your spouse, your boss, everything in life.
00:43:16.000 You'll become a bitter, sour person.
00:43:21.000 And that's not who I want to become.
00:43:24.000 And yeah, I'm hurt.
00:43:26.000 Yeah, I'll never be the same.
00:43:28.000 But I think this also gives me the opportunity to become better, to be better than what I ever have been.
00:43:36.000 Now I've got the opportunity to even step up further.
00:43:38.000 Now I've got the opportunity maybe to help other people.
00:43:41.000 Maybe I can go around and speak to people that can actually make a difference.
00:43:46.000 Like, and I'm not saying I'm Charlie Kirk, but along those lines, he went around and spoke and made a difference.
00:43:54.000 You know, he was an amazing individual.
00:43:58.000 I will never compare myself to him.
00:43:59.000 I can only admire from afar and try to achieve, you know, half the person he ever was.
00:44:07.000 The man was a Just a walking chat GPT full of knowledge and had words that you couldn't go up against.
00:44:16.000 He made too much sense.
00:44:17.000 And that's what the problem is for the left.
00:44:20.000 He made common sense.
00:44:21.000 That's the best I've ever heard it, actually.
00:44:23.000 Charlie made too much sense.
00:44:24.000 He just made too much sense for them.
00:44:27.000 And I love what you're talking about, though.
00:44:29.000 And Blake, I want to get you in here, but I just feel like you're talking about this process of becoming, right?
00:44:36.000 You think about a story, whether it's a movie or a book or whatever, where.
00:44:44.000 You know, the character has to become.
00:44:47.000 They're put through this trial and they become something different.
00:44:49.000 And, you know, the character, like you think about Jonah and the whale.
00:44:53.000 Jonah didn't want to go, you know, to Nineveh.
00:44:56.000 He didn't want to, he ran from God and he became, but God forced him to sort of step into that calling.
00:45:04.000 And eventually he said yes to it.
00:45:05.000 And I think.
00:45:06.000 Out of the boat.
00:45:07.000 Yeah.
00:45:07.000 I mean, there's a ton of biblical things.
00:45:08.000 So people, I mean, there's a ton.
00:45:10.000 David and the lion, Peter and the boat, you know, Lazarus back from the dead, you know, Jesus wept.
00:45:16.000 I mean, there's so much things that.
00:45:18.000 That's in the Bible that yes, I choose to incorporate into my life.
00:45:23.000 Charlie chose to incorporate into his life.
00:45:26.000 Now, I'm not saying other religions are bad or anything.
00:45:29.000 It's just a personal belief and it's who I want to be and it's who I want to reach.
00:45:33.000 And anyone who has the same belief as me that I can reach out to, maybe I can help them or help someone in a situation where I can somehow be helpful, inspirational, guiding.
00:45:46.000 I don't want to say knowledge, but maybe that, you know, share knowledge.
00:45:51.000 Just so they maybe, if I can reach just one person, it's a success.
00:45:57.000 But obviously, Charlie reached millions of people.
00:46:01.000 If I could do just a quarter of what he ever did, I would be very happy.
00:46:06.000 But, you know, I feel parallels along with him is just wanting to be out there, spread the word, you know, and have a meaningful conversation without insults and hate and threats of violence and things like that.
00:46:22.000 Jeff, all of this has been tremendous, incredible.
00:46:25.000 I want to speak to one specific parallel that exists between you and Erica, which, besides that, you've lost a loved one, besides that, it's a very high profile case, but that it's one that unfortunately we see hateful, gleeful things posted online.
00:46:46.000 We talked about what a lot of supporters of your son's killer were saying online, posting videos, TikTok, and all of that.
00:46:53.000 And we see.
00:46:55.000 Similar things with that here.
00:46:56.000 We had our young women's leadership event, and there was a guy with a big paper mache head of Charlie reenacting his death.
00:47:04.000 We see people post about how happy they are that Charlie's dead.
00:47:09.000 They make jokes about it.
00:47:10.000 That's a threat against Erica at that women's leadership event.
00:47:12.000 And on the flip side of this, also, you don't have this as much, but the conspiracy theories about it where they say, actually, Erica's not a grieving widow.
00:47:20.000 She's a fake widow.
00:47:21.000 She conspired.
00:47:23.000 She's helping cover up the real killers.
00:47:26.000 But.
00:47:27.000 You're really the closest person we have to someone who's dealt with something of this scale.
00:47:32.000 Do you have a message for Erica how you would advise overcoming the feelings this is going to cause in her, ignoring it, getting past it?
00:47:43.000 Just any thoughts in that vein?
00:47:46.000 So for your mental health, you need to stay off social media.
00:47:46.000 Yeah.
00:47:51.000 You just need to stay away from all avenues that want to spew this vile hatred, misinformation, total lies.
00:48:01.000 Same exact, I still to this day, I still get death threats and my family still gets death threats.
00:48:09.000 Now, this is a very small percentage of a certain subculture demographic that is causing these issues.
00:48:22.000 So, realistically, if you're looking at the big picture of it, they're really a small portion of people, but they're soulless.
00:48:32.000 They have no moral compass.
00:48:35.000 They don't contribute to society in an effective way.
00:48:39.000 All they want to do is obviously they don't have enough life of their own, but they want to get involved in yours and just spew hate based on maybe the color of your skin.
00:48:49.000 And that's it.
00:48:50.000 And there was a man who said, Don't judge a man by his character, not by the color of his skin.
00:49:00.000 Pretty famous guy.
00:49:01.000 And I think that's a great statement.
00:49:03.000 Because that's the same way I look at people.
00:49:05.000 I don't judge you by color, I judge you by character.
00:49:09.000 And, you know, and for those who maybe are younger than me or didn't know who said this, Martin Luther King is the man who made that quote famous.
00:49:19.000 And so, like, again, this isn't a race thing, this is a human being thing.
00:49:26.000 Erica's husband was murdered, my son was murdered.
00:49:33.000 Those things are not going to change.
00:49:38.000 To accept the fact is hard enough because it does seem surreal the first few days it's going on, like you're in a dream and it's not really happening, but it really is.
00:49:50.000 And you have to figure out how you're going to navigate this.
00:49:54.000 One, get some professional help, find a counselor, find a grief group, something.
00:50:02.000 Just don't isolate.
00:50:04.000 That is the worst thing you can do.
00:50:06.000 Get you a support network.
00:50:10.000 Learn what you know, understand what you're going to go through.
00:50:13.000 It's not going to help the pain, but it's going to help with the understanding, and that's going to help you navigate it.
00:50:21.000 It's not going to be easy.
00:50:23.000 It's the hardest thing ever.
00:50:25.000 It's the most painful thing ever.
00:50:28.000 But you have to get through it because I tell people you never know how strong you are until you have to be.
00:50:35.000 And then you can actually surprise yourself.
00:50:40.000 Examples 10 years ago, I was diagnosed with stage four cancer.
00:50:44.000 And they told me, Jeff, if it gets below your neck, we can't save you, you're dead.
00:50:50.000 I just got faced with.
00:50:51.000 Immortality, and I have two seven year old boys hugging my legs, yelling, Daddy, Daddy, please don't die.
00:50:58.000 So I had to make my mind, it's a mindset, and I had to make a mindset of okay, I am not going to die.
00:51:08.000 And it's the same thing with this situation right now.
00:51:11.000 I am not going to let this beat me.
00:51:15.000 I am going to become something better out of this tragedy.
00:51:20.000 I'm going to create something for other people, hopefully.
00:51:24.000 To be better out of this tragedy.
00:51:27.000 And it will carry my son's name on, which is the number one thing that I really want to do carry his name on.
00:51:36.000 We already have a scholarship set up at the high school to give an athlete a scholarship, the Austin Metcalf Scholarship Board, every year.
00:51:45.000 I'd like to increase that.
00:51:46.000 I'd like to grow that.
00:51:47.000 There's other charities I'd like to be involved in also.
00:51:51.000 And I would love to speak and go around and just be able to do that with people.
00:51:58.000 And just spread my story and hopefully give people some sort of inspiration or some sort of nugget they can carry on and just improve their life with.
00:52:11.000 Because we're all here for a short period of time.
00:52:14.000 Tomorrow's never promised, as I'm very aware of that now.
00:52:19.000 So live every day with purpose.
00:52:24.000 Hi, folks.
00:52:25.000 Andrew Colvett here.
00:52:26.000 I'd like to tell you about my friends over at Y Refi.
00:52:29.000 You've probably been hearing me talk about Y Refi for some time now.

00:53:07.000 Why Refi can help, just go to whyrefi.com.
00:53:10.000 That's the letter Y then refi.com.
00:53:14.000 And remember, whyrefi doesn't care what your credit score is, just go to whyrefi.com and tell them your friend Andrew sent you.
00:53:23.000 And now I feel like I have a purpose.
00:53:25.000 I had a purpose before, and it was being a father.
00:53:28.000 I'm still a father.
00:53:29.000 I have one in heaven, I have one still here fixing to go to college.
00:53:33.000 I still have responsibilities to my other son who's lived through the most tragic event trauma I can't even imagine.
00:53:43.000 I can't.
00:53:44.000 I don't have a twin brother, and I sure can't imagine seeing him being murdered and dying in my arms.
00:53:52.000 I.
00:54:02.000 It's okay, Jeff.
00:54:08.000 Yeah, his Hunter's been put through a lot.
00:54:12.000 I mean, we all have.
00:54:14.000 But, you know, he's my son.
00:54:18.000 And as a parent, you know, you always want to protect your kids.
00:54:25.000 And, you know, the stuff online.
00:54:28.000 And let me say this up front this goes for both sides, not just my side.
00:54:32.000 I want to make this perfectly clear.
00:54:35.000 The stuff that's going on online, the memes, the pictures, the vile comments look, they come from the far right too with pictures of Carmelo saying very vile things that are going to happen to him in prison.
00:54:46.000 I don't condone that.
00:54:48.000 That is not who you need to be.
00:54:51.000 Stop it, please.
00:54:54.000 These are two kids.
00:54:56.000 One's dead, and the other one's in prison.
00:55:00.000 So there's no good outcome.
00:55:02.000 There's nothing good about it.
00:55:03.000 And making memes and derogatory remarks.
00:55:07.000 Own dead children or imprisoned children.
00:55:10.000 I'm sorry, you need to check yourself.
00:55:14.000 You need to really look in the mirror and go, wow, who am I?
00:55:18.000 What kind of person am I?
00:55:20.000 And if you have children, what are you teaching?
00:55:24.000 What are you teaching your children with this behavior?
00:55:28.000 That's what I am so concerned about, is not just me, because I'm only here for another 20, 25 years.
00:55:34.000 I'm worried about what my kids' futures are like, what my kids' futures are like.
00:55:40.000 Where are we going to be?
00:55:40.000 What's what are we?
00:55:42.000 Are we going to be divided?
00:55:43.000 Are we going to have a race war?
00:55:44.000 Are we going to have a civil war again?
00:55:46.000 We've already had one in this country.
00:55:50.000 I'm worried about the moral decay of society and where we're taking it and what we're learning to become acceptable is not acceptable.
00:56:04.000 Well, I'm old school, as my kids tell me.
00:56:07.000 Oh, you're old school, dad.
00:56:09.000 Yeah.
00:56:10.000 I am.
00:56:11.000 I am old school.
00:56:12.000 I respected my parents.
00:56:14.000 I did not have a sense of entitlement.
00:56:16.000 I had to work for everything that was given to me.
00:56:20.000 I had rules, responsibilities, chores.
00:56:23.000 My parents instilled discipline in me.
00:56:28.000 If we were inside, we were grounded.
00:56:31.000 We hated being inside, we wanted to be outside.
00:56:34.000 Today's world, I mean, my generation was the last generation to grow up without cell phones, internet, and social media.
00:56:43.000 Greatest time in the world to grow up because now everything's recorded, everything's taped.
00:56:49.000 Everything, I mean, you have no privacy, you cannot do the same things you did when I was a kid.
00:56:58.000 But today's youth is put under such more scrutiny, more mental health issues.
00:57:07.000 I mean, I honestly believe you know, when we took God out of school, it affected our society when we started giving people voices.
00:57:17.000 And opinions and platforms to say whatever they think.
00:57:21.000 And if they say it loud enough, they think it's right.
00:57:24.000 And in their mind, it's a perceived reality.
00:57:29.000 And it's not the truth, but it is their reality.
00:57:32.000 That's what they live in.
00:57:34.000 And you can see how today has society been formed.
00:57:39.000 Just go back 50 years and see how far we've come.
00:57:42.000 Just go back 100 years and see how far we've come.
00:57:46.000 It's amazing.
00:57:47.000 I mean, America is the greatest country in the world, no doubt about it.
00:57:51.000 But we create our own problems half the time from within.
00:57:57.000 From within.
00:57:58.000 The outside factors are not, we need to deal with what's within our borders.
00:58:03.000 We need to deal with the homeless.
00:58:05.000 We need to deal with the veterans.
00:58:07.000 We need to deal with mental health.
00:58:10.000 These are issues.
00:58:11.000 But everyone wants to start, oh, it's a gun, you know, oh, guns are bad.
00:58:15.000 No, guns are good.
00:58:17.000 People are bad.
00:58:19.000 Gunners don't kill people, people kill people.
00:58:22.000 That's what I tell people.
00:58:23.000 Yes, I'm a Second Amendment person.
00:58:24.000 Yes, I believe in the right.
00:58:25.000 I believe in everything.
00:58:26.000 Do I believe in murder?
00:58:27.000 No.
00:58:28.000 Right.
00:58:29.000 It's a crime.
00:58:30.000 We have to keep our civilized, normal society actions in order.
00:58:30.000 It's a law.
00:58:36.000 You break the law, there are consequences.
00:58:38.000 I told my sons this all the time growing up you are free in life to make any decisions you want, but you are not free from the consequences.
00:58:47.000 That's right.
00:58:48.000 So remember that.
00:58:50.000 And this was a perfect example.
00:58:52.000 Unfortunately, it took it to the extreme in my case.
00:58:55.000 But there are consequences for shoving a knife in someone's chest.
00:58:58.000 Charlie's case.
00:58:59.000 Yeah.
00:59:00.000 Oh, Charlie's case is that's a slam dunk.
00:59:04.000 I mean, the man was assassinated as I watched on TV.
00:59:10.000 I mean, yeah.
00:59:13.000 There's just something wrong with people.
00:59:15.000 Yeah.
00:59:16.000 Jeff, I really appreciate you giving us so much of your time today.
00:59:20.000 And I know God's got big plans for what you're going to do next in the Purpose you're going to live with.
00:59:28.000 And honestly, I'm just, I'm really encouraged listening to you because I believe what you said, Erica needs to hear and Rob and Catherine need to hear.
00:59:37.000 And there's just very few people that could relate to what they're going through right now.
00:59:42.000 And you're one of them.
00:59:43.000 And it's a terrible club for you to be in and for us to sort of be in.
00:59:48.000 And membership dues.
00:59:51.000 Yeah.
00:59:52.000 But we so appreciate you.
00:59:53.000 And I thank you for making this a priority today.
00:59:57.000 I'm going to.
00:59:59.000 Clip this and send it right to Erica so she can watch it tonight.
01:00:03.000 And we just really appreciate you.
01:00:05.000 God bless you.
01:00:07.000 I really mean that.
01:00:08.000 God bless her family.
01:00:09.000 And you obviously know what I told you offline.
01:00:14.000 You can reach out.
01:00:16.000 Thanks.
01:00:16.000 You too, Jeff.
01:00:17.000 Just God bless them and I'll pray for them.
01:00:21.000 God bless you.
01:00:22.000 Thank you, sir.
01:00:23.000 Jeff Metcalf, Austin Metcalf's father.
01:00:26.000 So generous with his time.
01:00:27.000 And yeah, that was powerful just to sit back and listen to.
01:00:30.000 I mean, there's just something about somebody that's been through that process personally and had to face so much tragedy and heartache.
01:00:38.000 And I hate to admit, I mean, I don't hate to admit it.
01:00:42.000 I just have to confront the fact that I relate to so much of that.
01:00:46.000 And I know you do too, Blake.
01:00:47.000 And we're going to take a quick break here.
01:00:50.000 I think we're going to, the court's going to come back in session at some point.
01:00:56.000 So we're just kind of waiting for that.
01:00:58.000 Maybe if we want to take the Rav feed, guys, for the stream.
01:01:01.000 And they'll be back at, I guess, one their time.
01:01:05.000 And I think they go until five, you said.
01:01:07.000 Five Utah time.
01:01:08.000 Yeah.
01:01:09.000 So that would be four Pacific or seven Eastern.
01:01:12.000 Seven Eastern.
01:01:12.000 Yeah.
01:01:13.000 And then we've got a special, we're going to do a recap at the recap at the end of the day.
01:01:18.000 And we'll see how far they get because we were speaking with J Town earlier.
01:01:21.000 And he said, in theory, they could get through everything today, but the defense is projecting a lot.
01:01:27.000 It'll drag out.
01:01:28.000 Yeah.
01:01:29.000 So, all right.
01:01:30.000 We'll be back soon, guys.
