00:01:09.000 All right, welcome to the Charlie Kirk Show.

00:01:11.000 It is January 9th, 2026.

00:01:13.000 We are here in studio.

00:01:15.000 Lots to go over.

00:01:16.000 Blake Neff, good morning.

00:01:18.000 Howdy.

00:01:19.000 We are going to be covering all the developments with ICE that are happening in Minneapolis, in Portland, in Philadelphia.

00:01:27.000 There's a new wrinkle there.

00:01:28.000 We're also going to be covering the voter ID developments out of the state of California.

00:01:33.000 Yes, I said that right.

00:01:34.000 The state of California is making progress.

00:01:37.000 Grassroots movement on voter ID.

00:01:40.000 They just crossed a million signatures.

00:01:41.000 We're going to have Representative Calvert there, the highest-ranking congressman out of the state of California, joining us next.

00:01:47.000 He's been behind the scenes pushing that boulder up a hill.

00:01:50.000 He's doing great work there.

00:01:52.000 We are now at the precipice of a very, very sticky, tricky situation.

00:01:58.000 And we talked about it yesterday on our thought crime show with Jack Pasobic.

00:02:02.000 But we are now seeing local jurisdictions threatening federal law enforcement.

00:02:08.000 Blake, give us the lowdown.

00:02:10.000 Well, so it's exactly what it is.

00:02:12.000 So we had the shooting in Minneapolis, and we've seen them sort of build up to this.

00:02:17.000 There have been a few false starts because their rhetoric is like they'll use aggressive rhetoric, but they don't quite cross the line of taking action.

00:02:27.000 But what they keep doing is they keep delegitimizing ICE.

00:02:29.000 They're calling them masked thugs.

00:02:30.000 They say they're kidnapping people.

00:02:32.000 Gestapo.

00:02:33.000 Yeah, Gestapo.

00:02:34.000 They say that they are committing crimes.

00:02:35.000 And increasingly, the goal is to basically say that ICE is a criminal organization and they will treat them as a criminal organization.

00:02:47.000 And I think what we're building up to is they want to engineer a constitutional crisis where they can just overtly defy the enforcement of federal law, which is what ICE does.

00:02:58.000 ICE is enforcing federal immigration law by arresting and deporting people who are illegally in the country.

00:03:05.000 That is what they are doing.

00:03:06.000 And it started with, I've seen this play out over basically decades of my life because it was originally just, oh, that it causes harm to communities if you arrest people.

00:03:19.000 If you go to their church or if you arrest them in certain contexts, then they won't go to hospitals or they won't call the police for other crimes. 0.90

00:03:28.000 But increasingly, just the attitude is actually, these people, everyone in the world has the right to be in America, especially if they're a foreign rapist, gangster criminal, especially. 0.79

00:03:37.000 And any attempt to deport them or arrest them, they will not collaborate with that. 0.60

00:03:42.000 We already see that with the Sanctuary City stuff.

00:03:44.000 They won't keep anyone locked up so that ICE can detain them.

00:03:48.000 And now they just say, well, actually, ICE just can't detain them at all.

00:03:51.000 And where we're getting closer to this We have them now just basically saying they're going to arrest ICE agents possibly.

00:04:02.000 And this is Philadelphia Sheriff Rochelle Bilal, DEI hire out of Philadelphia.

00:04:09.000 And by the way, in this clip, she's praising the DA, who's a Soros-funded DA, absolutely lawless head of this city.

00:04:17.000 It's incredible to the extent to which these municipalities have been radicalized.

00:04:23.000 It's a longer clip, but she says to ICE, you don't want this smoke.

00:04:27.000 So she's like talking like a thug.

00:04:29.000 Well, let's just show the clip.

00:04:30.000 She's behaving like one, and she is forcing, as you said, a constitutional crisis. 1.00

00:04:34.000 371.

00:04:35.000 Let know that law enforcement professionals, real ones, not the fake made-up ICE, probably Trump's a new army to attack citizens of the United States.

00:04:48.000 Did you hear what I said?

00:04:50.000 No law enforcement professional wears a mask.

00:04:53.000 Those that come into our communities wearing a mask to commit crime.

00:04:58.000 Thank God for our district attorney, Larry Krasner, who say he's going to lock him up.

00:05:04.000 And I'm saying now, we are not going to whisk you away for them to hide your identity because when you do it there, you're getting arrested there.

00:05:15.000 If any of them want to come in this city and commit a crime, you will not be able to hide.

00:05:21.000 Nobody will whist you off.

00:05:23.000 You don't want this smoke because we will bring it to you.

00:05:30.000 You don't want this smoke.

00:05:31.000 So she's basically threatening an armed standoff with federal law enforcement.

00:05:36.000 That, I mean, that is insane.

00:05:38.000 It is deranged.

00:05:39.000 And it is channeling Larry Krasner, who we haven't talked about as much lately, but he was a big thing during peak Biden, peak woke era.

00:05:47.000 He's one of the worst pro-crime DAs, purged his Department of Prosecutors.

00:05:53.000 He basically pro-crime.

00:05:55.000 Yeah, he's pro-crime.

00:05:56.000 He stopped bail.

00:05:57.000 He's like, I'm not going to prosecute minor thefts, all these other offenses.

00:06:02.000 He's a pro-crime individual.

00:06:03.000 And suddenly he's saying, oh, I'm going to arrest ICE agents.

00:06:06.000 Yeah.

00:06:06.000 That's anarcho-tyranny as well, right?

00:06:08.000 Where you're enforcing the law selectively against your preferred targets.

00:06:13.000 You're refusing to enforce a lot of the law if it's your preferred people groups, special groups, whether that's immigrants, minorities, whatever.

00:06:24.000 And so this is, so we talked about this last night.

00:06:26.000 I think it's worth reiterating because you're seeing the same thing in Hennepin County in Minnesota.

00:06:32.000 You're seeing it in Portland, where we are looking down the barrel of a standoff between state or local law enforcement and federal law enforcement.

00:06:42.000 And so the Trump administration now has to be zeroed in, laser focused on what do they do when this standoff occurs.

00:06:51.000 And you have some thoughts.

00:06:52.000 Yeah, so we talked about this last night that the left is headed for this confrontation.

00:06:58.000 The left is, they want this showdown over ICE.

00:07:02.000 And we can see how we discussed this yesterday.

00:07:05.000 They were basically thrilled at what happened to Renee Goode because that is their plan.

00:07:09.000 They engineered this.

00:07:10.000 They want these confrontations between ICE and protesters because they want someone to get shot so they can condemn ICE.

00:07:17.000 So what they want, what these people are dying to have happen is they want to have a confrontation between police and ICE where there's some sort of conflict and like a cop gets shot by ICE.

00:07:28.000 That is what they want to have happen.

00:07:29.000 Yeah, I totally agree.

00:07:31.000 And I actually think they wanted Renee Goode to be killed.

00:07:34.000 But they celebrate that.

00:07:36.000 Yeah, they did.

00:07:36.000 Because now she gets to be a martyr.

00:07:39.000 You got this white 37-year-old woman that was basically a citizen vigilante. 1.00

00:07:44.000 She was taking it upon herself to meddle in the business of law enforcement, obstruct the ICE operation that was going on. 0.93

00:07:52.000 Apparently, she was doing it throughout the day.

00:07:54.000 She's obviously been trained.

00:07:55.000 She's obviously coordinating with other people.

00:07:57.000 And then she messed around. 0.92

00:07:58.000 That's what caused an unfortunate incident.

00:08:01.000 I don't think she was a vigilante.

00:08:02.000 Well, I guess she actually.

00:08:03.000 Yeah, she was a vigilante.

00:08:04.000 Whatever.

00:08:05.000 But the point is, is that, yeah, as you said, they wanted her to get shot.

00:08:10.000 And now they want another situation to happen.

00:08:12.000 They want a cop to get shot.

00:08:14.000 Or, and this is the thing, they want the administration to be so fearful of that that they'll give up on enforcing the law.

00:08:21.000 And they can just say, oh, it's a dead letter.

00:08:23.000 We successfully beat them.

00:08:25.000 And so the administration has to have a plan to make sure neither of these things happen.

00:08:30.000 They have to do two things.

00:08:32.000 They have to do one thing above all. 0.84

00:08:33.000 They have to make sure that they assert ISIS legitimate authority to enforce immigration law in this country. 0.70

00:08:42.000 They cannot back off on that.

00:08:44.000 Now, if that means some lunatic in a blue city is going to try to forcibly stop them, you can't let them stop you.

00:08:53.000 But I would also say you should make sure that the left is the first one who uses force to try to.

00:08:59.000 If someone's going to shoot a gun, it has to be the left first, frankly.

00:09:03.000 But you can push their cars out of the way.

00:09:05.000 You can shove them out of the way.

00:09:07.000 But make sure that they are the ones who try to shoot somebody first.

00:09:10.000 I think this is genuinely important.

00:09:12.000 That is how you ultimately, this is a test of wills.

00:09:15.000 This is a test of PR.

00:09:18.000 And you have to make sure that you win that battle.

00:09:19.000 This is possibly the most important test this administration.

00:09:22.000 So Philly is a standout because you've got this crazy sheriff who's saying, you don't want this smoke, which is a direct threat.

00:09:29.000 I will say in the instance of Minnesota 344, this is the statement by Minnesota police and peace officers.

00:09:37.000 They're asking, they're basically condemning some of the statements, the rhetoric that are coming out of officials.

00:09:44.000 They're asking leaders to stop inflammatory language and respect the legal investigative process.

00:09:50.000 And they're saying that they stand behind law enforcement, i.e., ICE agents, and irresponsible, reckless rhetoric from political leaders attacking law enforcement has real and dangerous consequences.

00:10:01.000 So at least in the instance of Minnesota, it looks like the police are siding with law enforcement and ICE.

00:10:07.000 So that's a good sign there.

00:10:11.000 Candles were lit on Bondi Beach by families, by children, by people of faith to celebrate a festival of light, a festival from Bible times, one that Jesus himself celebrated.

00:10:21.000 People gathered with hope, seeking unity and comfort in tradition.

00:10:25.000 But instead of light, there was darkness, violence, fear, hatred showing itself at a time meant for prayer and rejoicing.

00:10:33.000 Times like this remind us that even with the ceasefire in Israel, Jewish people are being targeted simply because of their faith.

00:10:40.000 And times like this remind us why the International Fellowship of Christians and Jews exists to stand in the gap, providing safety and security to God's people.

00:10:49.000 The fellowship brings together Christians and Jews to be a light to suffering Jews in Israel, the former Soviet Union, or wherever the needs are greatest.

00:10:57.000 Together, we can make a real difference in the lives of those who need hope the most.

00:11:01.000 Your gift today will help provide the security that God's people so desperately need.

00:11:05.000 Visit urgentifcj.org.

00:11:07.000 That's one word, urgentifcj.org, or call now at 866-338-IFCJ.

00:11:13.000 That's 866-338-4325.

00:11:20.000 All right, so there is another ICE encounter that was exploding on the news last night, and it was involving a CPB, Customs Border Patrol, CBP agent in the city of Portland.

00:11:33.000 And it turns out it was another ramming incident, according to DHS.

00:11:38.000 And the individual that tried to ram the CBP agent was a Trende Aragua gangbanger who runs a prostitution ring.

00:11:47.000 And the initial reports were fascinating because they said it was a husband and wife.

00:11:51.000 And then there was pictures of the woman scantily clad, and we do not think that that would be his wife.

00:11:57.000 Oh, actually, I wouldn't put that beyond that.

00:11:59.000 I mean, maybe it is, maybe it's not, but it would be surprising.

00:12:03.000 So there are the suspects, and without fail, on call, on queue, Portland mayor and Oregon governor Kodak are coming to the defense of the Trende Aragua gang banger and calling ICE to leave their city.

00:12:19.000 Because it's ICE's fault that these gangbangers are in the country in the first place.

00:12:24.000 I mean, just, for example, you need to check this out.

00:12:29.000 Let's just, a little trip down memory lane, go up and throw up 379.

00:12:33.000 This is the B-roll.

00:12:35.000 This is how we got here, folks.

00:12:38.000 This is why all of these conversations are happening.

00:12:40.000 Because under four years of Joe Biden, this was your southern border.

00:12:44.000 Thousands upon thousands of God knows who just streaming over the border, coming into your country, coming into cities like Portland and Minneapolis and Philadelphia and everywhere else.

00:12:59.000 Often government payments often paid for by the taxpayers to relocate them in the interior.

00:13:06.000 And we're trying to set things right.

00:13:08.000 They don't like it.

00:13:09.000 That was both of these.

00:13:10.000 Both of these.

00:13:10.000 That was super important with these guys.

00:13:13.000 They were both, they came here in 2022, released into the country.

00:13:16.000 Final order, have both done crimes. 0.91

00:13:16.000 Of course. 0.91

00:13:19.000 Final order of removal, not removed.

00:13:21.000 That is, in a nutshell, what we're doing over and over.

00:13:24.000 And that's the sort of operation the left is fanatical about.

00:13:28.000 They are fanatical about preventing these people from leaving the country.

00:13:32.000 Even if they assault people, even if they rob people, even if they kill people, especially if they kill people.

00:13:36.000 So they are coming down on the side.

00:13:38.000 The political leaders in Oregon are coming down on the side of the gangbangers.

00:13:42.000 376.

00:13:44.000 When a president endorses tearing families apart and attempts to govern through fear and hate rather than shared values, you foster an environment of lawlessness and recklessness.

00:13:57.000 Ah, I literally, I can't know.

00:14:02.000 You are the political movement ideology that is fostering lawlessness.

00:14:07.000 You're literally coming down on the side of a dude who runs a prostitution ring.

00:14:11.000 And somehow it's ICE's fault that they're trying to arrest these bad people and get them out of the country for the safety and lawfulness of your community.

00:14:20.000 This is the same thing.

00:14:22.000 They call Trump a dictator or a tyrant or whatever, and they think that that just completely absolves them of actually enforcing the law in their communities.

00:14:29.000 380.

00:14:30.000 This is Keith Ellison echoing the same.

00:14:32.000 You hear a similarity in the tone?

00:14:34.000 380.

00:14:36.000 This is an aspiring fascist dictator tyrant trying to impose by force will and dominance on the population.

00:14:47.000 That's what's happening.

00:14:48.000 And the sooner we all wake up to it, the sooner we'll be able to be free of it.

00:14:53.000 Blake, what the heck has gotten into these people? 0.98

00:14:55.000 It's a freaking brainworm or something, a brain virus. 0.99

00:14:59.000 Well, I don't think it's a brain. 0.99

00:15:00.000 I think this is a clever.

00:15:02.000 Well, it's just a manifestation of the left's values.

00:15:06.000 The left is a force of entropy.

00:15:07.000 The left is an anti-civilization force.

00:15:09.000 The chaos force.

00:15:10.000 They want to, ultimately, they want to bring down the United States.

00:15:15.000 They might not really fully think that out all the time, but their principles always militate towards this.

00:15:22.000 This is what ultimately caused the Biden wave.

00:15:24.000 The Biden wave was, it was almost an accident of left-wing thought that at this point, they cannot articulate any valid reason to keep any person out of the United States.

00:15:37.000 They just can't.

00:15:38.000 It doesn't work in their moral worldview.

00:15:41.000 They view the United States as illegitimate as a country, basically because it was wealthy and successful and because it was European.

00:15:49.000 And so there's no valid reason for it to exist.

00:15:51.000 Ergo, anyone can come here and they can do whatever they want.

00:15:54.000 Yeah, it's a really, like, the more you listen to this, and I've been studying, I've been spending a lot of time late at night, early in the morning, watching and reading a lot of these comments by like far-left activist groups.

00:16:06.000 These are the organizing groups that are, you know, putting on the protests, the mostly peaceful protests, and setting up their autonomous zone now in Minneapolis, just like they had in Seattle, Chaz, now it's Maz.

00:16:18.000 And they talk about a couple different themes repeatedly.

00:16:21.000 It's colonialism, it's native and indigenous people, people of color.

00:16:26.000 It's a big focus on delegitimizing white Western white people.

00:16:32.000 It is an anti-white movement.

00:16:34.000 And ultimately, it comes down to this.

00:16:37.000 They believe that the wealth, power, and influence, whether that's militarily or economically, that has been amassed by European civilization over the last two, three, 400 years is illegitimate.

00:16:50.000 They believe in a zero-sum game.

00:16:52.000 They believe that the West has become rich off the backs of people of color, slaves, indigenous people, and stolen land. 0.95

00:16:58.000 This is how life is.

00:17:00.000 And they literally want to take it back.

00:17:02.000 This is why when we talked about Sia Weaver yesterday, if you missed it, check it out.

00:17:06.000 We talked about Sia Weaver, the new tenants' rights director or whatever from Mamdani in New York City.

00:17:12.000 And she is a white woman that is vehemently, militarily opposed to property ownership. 0.84

00:17:19.000 She is going in to destroy the tenants in New York City because she thinks that rent control and shared property is somehow the panacea of all the ills that are in New York City. 1.00

00:17:29.000 This is why people like Cia Weaver are such idiots. 1.00

00:17:32.000 This is why Nancy Pelosi is an idiot. 1.00

00:17:34.000 This is why Chuck Schumer is an idiot. 1.00

00:17:37.000 This is why all of these people that think that they can bend the knee, that they can kiss the ring, and they can play along, and somehow they'll be eaten last by this mob of hateful vigilantes, this clannish tribalist movement, driven by vengeance, driven by jealousy, that they think that they're going to get ahead in this, that they can somehow make common cause with these people. 1.00

00:17:57.000 You can't.

00:17:58.000 They want you gone.

00:17:59.000 They want to destroy the United States of America.

00:18:01.000 You are standing in their way.

00:18:02.000 We are standing in their way.

00:18:04.000 And this is ultimately why the conservative movement in the United States must prevail because we are the firewall for Western civilizations.

00:18:11.000 I really believe that.

00:18:14.000 This is Lane Schoenberger, chief investment officer and founding partner of WhyReFi.

00:19:23.000 Excited about our next guest here.

00:19:26.000 Really important story that we haven't touched on yet on this show, but we have been keeping track of it since March of 2025.

00:19:34.000 And that is, of course, about California's push for voter ID.

00:19:38.000 This is a ground up, grassroots-led effort in the blue state of California, and they have just surpassed 1 million signatures on the petition.

00:19:48.000 They have surpassed the first benchmark to get it on the ballot in 2026, but they need more signatures.

00:19:56.000 Here to help us unpack that story is Representative Ken Calvert from California's 41st congressional district.

00:20:03.000 And after Prop 50, he is now going to be, he's a candidate for California's 40th district.

00:20:09.000 Welcome to the show, Representative Cowherd.

00:20:11.000 Thank you for having me.

00:20:12.000 Yeah, honored to have you.

00:20:14.000 Yeah, absolutely.

00:20:15.000 So why don't you give our audience kind of a broad view of this effort?

00:20:20.000 We know it's grassroots because let's be honest, voter ID would not be coming from the top down in California.

00:20:26.000 This is a bottom-up grassroots-led movement, and it's had tremendous success, Congressman.

00:20:31.000 Absolutely.

00:20:32.000 After this last election, we lost two of our campaigns.

00:20:37.000 One to up in Northern California, John Jorte lost by less than 200 votes, and then Michelle Steele, who lost by less than 700 votes.

00:20:49.000 And we knew that we had a problem.

00:20:51.000 You know, we're the wild west of election law here in California.

00:20:54.000 Everything goes. 0.86

00:20:55.000 Motor voter, we register everybody, including non-citizens. 0.67

00:20:59.000 And people who should not be voting are voting in our elections.

00:21:04.000 And we need to make sure that we get a voter ID law put on the ballot.

00:21:08.000 And I'm going to tell you, the Orange County Lincoln Club, I got to give them a lot of credit.

00:21:13.000 Carl DeMayo, who's doing a grassroots operation also, the Orange County Lincoln Club raised the first $1 million.

00:21:21.000 All of us trying to raise money to do this.

00:21:25.000 It's expensive.

00:21:26.000 We've gotten a million signatures so far.

00:21:28.000 We need 873,000 signatures verified.

00:21:32.000 And there's a lot of shenanigans that are probably going to take place.

00:21:35.000 So we want to make sure we have well over that.

00:21:37.000 So we're looking to get a million to 100,000 signatures to make sure that this is on the ballot next November.

00:21:44.000 So to reiterate, you have a million.

00:21:46.000 You just crossed the million mark.

00:21:47.000 We need to get to 1.2 million signatures by March 15th, correct?

00:21:54.000 That's correct.

00:21:55.000 And we need to verify 873,000.

00:21:58.000 So we want to be way over to make sure that there's no mistake that this is on the ballot in the next November election.

00:22:08.000 Yeah.

00:22:08.000 Blake, did you have a question?

00:22:10.000 I guess I was thinking about a few things.

00:22:12.000 The first thing that came to mind is this will probably be the first time in California history they'll really aggressively go through every name to see if they're a citizen.

00:22:20.000 Correct.

00:22:21.000 This person's an illegal.

00:22:22.000 Yeah, you might see that.

00:22:24.000 The other thing I wonder about, so obviously we support this.

00:22:27.000 Obviously, it will help.

00:22:29.000 But as you mentioned, California, they have motor voter. 0.88

00:22:32.000 California gives IDs to people who are illegals. 0.68

00:22:38.000 They do a lot of bad things. 1.00

00:22:39.000 They have very generous mail voting laws, very generous ballot harvesting laws.

00:22:44.000 How much will this help as long as all those other proposals are in play?

00:22:47.000 And is there any hope of maybe overturning those through initiatives?

00:22:52.000 Or how should we look at it big picture?

00:22:54.000 Well, you're right on all of that.

00:22:56.000 This is the first step is to get this voter ID done.

00:22:59.000 That's a big step.

00:23:01.000 You're right.

00:23:01.000 That's why we want to get a million 200,000 signatures to make sure that there's no question that we can verify 873,000 signatures to make sure this is on the ballot.

00:23:11.000 It's not going to fix every problem, but it's a big step forward for the state of California.

00:23:16.000 Trust me, I've seen this thing go south for a long, long time.

00:23:19.000 So we have a chance finally to make an improvement in election law in California and clean up the voter rolls, which also is a problem.

00:23:28.000 You're right about ballot harvesting in California.

00:23:31.000 It's crazy and it's unfair.

00:23:33.000 And we know that we've lost elections we shouldn't have lost.

00:23:37.000 Probably at least two last election, probably three in my mind.

00:23:41.000 I think Mike Garcia also was subject to that.

00:23:46.000 So we need to make sure that we get this passed next November.

00:23:50.000 So we're going to try to raise the last part of it.

00:23:53.000 California's for voter ID.

00:23:56.000 The website is voteridcalifornia.org.

00:24:00.000 I would, you know, anything that people can do to help this out, get it over the finish line.

00:24:05.000 And I want to say, for anyone watching this, we have a lot of California fans of this show.

00:24:11.000 They would email in all the time to Charlie, Charlie, when will turning point save California?

00:24:16.000 Charlie, get involved in the governor's race.

00:24:17.000 Get involved in this race.

00:24:18.000 We can turn it around. 0.94

00:24:20.000 All of you people who email us had better have signed this petition.

00:24:24.000 Period.

00:24:24.000 Go sign it right now if you haven't.

00:24:27.000 I'm calling you out.

00:24:27.000 You can't sign it online, but you can go to that URL if you live in the state of California and you can request a signature form.

00:24:34.000 So do it right now.

00:24:36.000 You have till March 15th, but it's going to take time for them to send it to you, for you to fill it out, get it back.

00:24:41.000 So go to voteridca.org right now.

00:24:44.000 If you don't live in the state of California, chip in.

00:24:47.000 They need to raise, I think, another million, million and a half to get this over the finish line.

00:24:52.000 But this is really a huge, huge step in the right direction.

00:24:57.000 I was just talking with one of our mutual friends, Congressman Teresa Hernandez down at the Lincoln Club there.

00:25:04.000 She's great.

00:25:05.000 Yeah, and she owns a Mexican restaurant. 1.00

00:25:08.000 And she was saying that during when the raids were happening from ICE, she said she lost about 50% of her business.

00:25:15.000 And her theory was that the Hispanic population, even if they had green cards, were not coming out out of fear, right? 0.94

00:25:24.000 Now, you and I know that that's ridiculous.

00:25:27.000 But if you find yourself getting to November of 2026 and you haven't had any problems with ICE or Customs and Border Patrol, you think you're going to risk the voter ID portion of this to cheat an election, even if they're offering you $100 or gift cards to this or that.

00:25:45.000 I have to believe that this is going to clean up a huge, huge percentage of the problem.

00:25:50.000 And listen, this is becoming an issue front and center.

00:25:54.000 President Trump is now true socialing about it.

00:25:56.000 He says he's personally going to be running an effort to get this across the finish line.

00:26:01.000 Here's just a smattering of some of what Elon Musk has been saying lately.

00:26:04.000 354, this is a tweet that he put up.

00:26:07.000 No ID and mail-in ballots make fraud trivial.

00:26:10.000 Both of those need to be fixed to restore democracy.

00:26:14.000 355, voter ID is essential to stop widespread fraud.

00:26:18.000 356, America should not have worse voter ID requirements than every Democratic country on earth.

00:26:24.000 California and New York actually banned use of voter ID. 0.99

00:26:28.000 People are contesting that, but it's essentially true.

00:26:30.000 It is illegal to show your ID in those states.

00:26:32.000 The only reason to do this is fraud.

00:26:35.000 I completely agree.

00:26:36.000 And I want to give a little shout out to Chef Gruhl down there, also a Huntington Beach resident, speaking at the Huntington Beach City Council.

00:26:47.000 353.

00:26:49.000 When you go to the DMV and you get a driver's license or an ID, you register to vote.

00:26:54.000 You do not need any citizenship to do that.

00:26:56.000 When you get any benefits in the state of California, they send you a voter registration card.

00:27:01.000 You do not need to show any ID or proof of citizenship to do that.

00:27:04.000 Then you're on the voter rolls.

00:27:06.000 Those voter rolls, they keep adding people on over and over and over again, and nobody's cross-referencing IDs on those voter rolls.

00:27:12.000 So when you talk to Bob Page on a local level or any local registrar of voters, they're going to say, well, yeah, we've got a really great operation on site.

00:27:21.000 We're just taking what Sacramento gives us in regards to the rules.

00:27:24.000 We can't ask for ID on site or we can't cross-reference ID.

00:27:28.000 So the problem isn't ours anymore, right?

00:27:29.000 It's that diffusion of responsibility.

00:27:31.000 It is 100% fact that you do not need to prove any citizenship to get voter registration in California.

00:27:38.000 Yeah, I mean, it's become so extreme, Congressman, that, you know, these election workers are, they won't even ask for it.

00:27:47.000 And so the next question is, what happens?

00:27:51.000 You know, first question is, is the polling showing that this would actually pass?

00:27:56.000 If it passes, what sort of enforcement mechanisms at the polling centers are in place to make sure that election workers are doing their job and checking IDs?

00:28:06.000 Right.

00:28:06.000 Well, the polling is off the charts.

00:28:09.000 Even a majority of Democrats are in favor of voter ID.

00:28:13.000 Republicans, obviously, great numbers, 90%.

00:28:16.000 The Independents, 70%.

00:28:18.000 It's like 70% overall are in favor of voter ID here in California.

00:28:24.000 So we're going to pass this.

00:28:25.000 We're going to get it on the ballot.

00:28:26.000 We'll pass it.

00:28:27.000 Secretary of State obviously is in charge of voter laws in the state of California.

00:28:32.000 We need a new Secretary of State.

00:28:34.000 We've got a gentleman named Don Wagner, Republican, running for that.

00:28:37.000 I encourage everybody to look him up and support him.

00:28:41.000 I think California is coming to a point where we're going to turn this state around.

00:28:49.000 Look, there's more Republicans in California than there is in any other state in the Union.

00:28:53.000 People forget that because of what's happened in California over the last number of years.

00:28:58.000 But we're a big state, 40 million people.

00:29:00.000 It's a wealthy state.

00:29:01.000 We're number one in many, many industries.

00:29:05.000 People who live here don't deserve to have a government we have. 0.83

00:29:08.000 And so it will be enforced. 1.00

00:29:12.000 We did this in Florida, and Florida turned the political system around.

00:29:17.000 I think a lot of it was because they have a much more efficient voter system than we do.

00:29:24.000 And we need to have the same kind of system that a state like Florida has.

00:29:28.000 Yeah, and that's what I've been told is that this law is being written to emulate Florida's voter ID law, which is the standard bearer in the country.

00:29:38.000 And it's great to know.

00:29:40.000 I'm told there's tip lines.

00:29:42.000 If local election workers are not enforcing the law, not checking IDs, part of this bill will actually include an enforcement mechanism like that where they can call in.

00:29:54.000 And I just want to give you some your just desserts here, Congressman.

00:29:59.000 You are the, I think the highest ranked, forgive me if I'm wrong, but you're now the highest ranking Republican in Congress, or maybe since we're in the majority, you're the highest ranking Congressman from California that we have in the House.

00:30:12.000 So, and you are now running for reelection after Prop 50 in now the new district of District 41, correct?

00:30:22.000 Tell us how people can support what you've been doing.

00:30:24.000 You've been in the state since 93.

00:30:26.000 People, you know, need to give you your just desserts there, sir.

00:30:30.000 Yeah, this new district is District 40.

00:30:32.000 They took the district I had and stuck it in downtown L.A.

00:30:37.000 So get rid of me once and for all, I guess, but that's not going to work.

00:30:41.000 We're running a strong campaign.

00:30:43.000 70% of this district is in what I represent now and or what I've represented just a few years ago.

00:30:49.000 So we feel good about it.

00:30:52.000 It's difficult because they combined Republicans together because of this Prop 50.

00:30:58.000 I did everything we could to defeat it, but we weren't able to for a number of reasons.

00:31:04.000 But that's why we need to change how we do business in this state.

00:31:07.000 That's why we need voter ID. 0.81

00:31:08.000 And it was mentioned some other things that we need to do in the future to clean up the voter rolls, to get this ballot harvesting fiasco behind us. 0.99

00:31:19.000 A number of things to, because we would have wanted, look, we'd have five more Republicans right now in this state if it wasn't for this crap. 0.99

00:31:27.000 Yeah. 0.72

00:31:27.000 So put up that URL one more time, guys, for where people can get involved. 0.72

00:31:32.000 Pitch in, donate, or request a petition, voteridca.org.

00:31:39.000 We need to get it over the finish line.

00:31:40.000 Congressman, everybody I talked to said you've been masterful behind the scenes.

00:31:44.000 So thank you for your contribution, your nation.

00:31:45.000 Thank you.

00:31:46.000 I'm happy to help.

00:31:46.000 And thank you for having me on your program today.

00:33:26.000 Please get involved, pitch in, help save the golden state.

00:33:29.000 And you can start clawing back some big wins in California if you get voter ID across the finish line.

00:33:34.000 I really believe that.

00:33:35.000 I think you'd see some immediate improvement, and it's the first step in the road to getting that state back.

00:33:42.000 So please pitch in voterIDCA.org. 0.51

00:33:45.000 We're going to pivot and turn our attention to Iran.

00:33:49.000 Blake, why don't you give us the update on where we're going to go?

00:33:52.000 Of course.

00:33:52.000 Well, so we haven't talked about it at all.

00:33:54.000 And I think probably the funniest thing about this is we've had major protests in Iran about a week now, and it's struggled to be above the number three story in the U.S. If that Venezuela's taken precedence, the stuff in Minneapolis has taken precedence and so on.

00:34:10.000 But we've gotten emails asking us to weigh in on it.

00:34:12.000 And I think Charlie would definitely be weighing in on it.

00:34:15.000 So there's been a spate of major demonstrations against the mullahs, as you might hear them called on TV.

00:34:25.000 Ordinary Iranians protesting in Tehran and a lot of secondary cities.

00:34:30.000 There's a lot of various reports on the ground that they've set government buildings on fire.

00:34:35.000 They've supposedly taken control of large cities.

00:34:40.000 That goes back and forth on how accurate all of that is.

00:34:43.000 But what does seem to be true is the regime is now trying to black out a lot of communications.

00:34:49.000 They're targeting the internet.

00:34:51.000 They're targeting other means of communication to limit people's ability to know what's going on and to try to keep control of the situation. 0.58

00:34:59.000 Notably, a week ago, President Trump said on Truth Social that if Iran shots and violently kills peaceful protesters, which is their custom, the United States of America will come to their rescue. 0.64

00:35:13.000 We are locked and loaded and ready to go.

00:35:16.000 Thank you for your attention to this matter.

00:35:18.000 And I'm seeing more of that.

00:35:21.000 You're seeing some of that agitation that the U.S. should be ready to get involved.

00:35:26.000 The son of the previous Shah, Reza Pahlavi, he desires to take power in the country, and he's been saying America should be ready to get involved.

00:35:35.000 Obviously, people would ask us what Charlie would make of this.

00:35:38.000 I think Charlie would still be skeptical of getting involved.

00:35:41.000 He was very, very wary of the Iran war crisis we had this past summer.

00:35:46.000 He was very happy that it was ultimately resolved with one bombing run, nothing else. 0.96

00:35:51.000 I think he very much likes it.

00:35:55.000 us not to get involved.

00:35:56.000 And if we do get involved, it's the lightest touch possible.

00:35:59.000 You know, those quick in, one strike, and it's over.

00:36:02.000 I think he would have liked the Venezuela raid for that same reason.

00:36:05.000 It was one raid and it's over.

00:36:07.000 That's what I think his impulse would have been.

00:36:09.000 Yeah.

00:36:09.000 And again, going back one step.

00:36:11.000 So this started apparently, there's been a dramatic collapse of the Iranian currency, the real.

00:36:17.000 Soaring inflation.

00:36:18.000 So 40 to 50% in recent months, which, you know, this country's still in upheaval from 20% over four years of Joe Biden.

00:36:26.000 Imagine 40 to 50% in recent months.

00:36:28.000 Rising costs of living.

00:36:30.000 This quickly devolved into a broader political movement, including calls for regime change, greater freedoms, anti-government slogans.

00:36:39.000 And this is...

00:36:40.000 How many reals do you think you need to have one United States dollar?

00:36:45.000 Oh, man.

00:36:45.000 I have like a thousand.

00:36:47.000 994,000.

00:36:50.000 No, geez.

00:36:53.000 Wow.

00:36:54.000 I was off by a magnitude of a thousand.

00:36:57.000 You were off by literally, what is that?

00:36:58.000 Two, three orders of magnitude?

00:37:00.000 Yeah, that's huge.

00:37:01.000 Okay, so, you know, protesters are chanted against the ruling theocracy.

00:37:05.000 This reminds me of when you look back at those images of Iran in the 70s before the Shah was kicked out.

00:37:12.000 That, you know, it looks almost like a Western nation, right?

00:37:15.000 And, you know, I used to live in Southern California.

00:37:17.000 A lot of Iranians, Persian community down there are very, you know, enterprising people, very productive people, very almost Western.

00:37:24.000 Yes, they're Muslim, but it's a different variety, right?

00:37:31.000 It's the Shia Muslim as opposed to the Sunni.

00:37:33.000 It's a different kind of Islam that they seem culturally to practice.

00:37:38.000 But, you know, this is what's interesting.

00:37:42.000 The son of the last Shah, which is Reza Pahlavi, he's making actual, so one hour ago, he's saying, this is an urgent and immediate call for your attention.

00:37:54.000 This is image 364, if you want to put it up there.

00:37:57.000 Last night you saw millions of brave Iranians in the streets facing down live bullets.

00:38:01.000 Today they are facing not just bullets, but total communication blackout.

00:38:05.000 No internet, no landline.

00:38:06.000 So one of the struggles that we're having here, Blake, is that we can't even get communications out of Iran, really.

00:38:12.000 It's very limited, and we don't know what's AI, what's not.

00:38:15.000 There was a building burning last night.

00:38:16.000 Yeah, it's like a government building.

00:38:18.000 If there is a deep fake of a building on fire, it's not super obvious immediately if it's not true because they don't have a robust media.

00:38:25.000 Like, we could kind of tell if something is fake because we have a ton of journalists.

00:38:30.000 Everyone see it.

00:38:30.000 Iran, who knows?

00:38:32.000 Yeah, and we're going to cover this, by the way.

00:38:34.000 We're going to have a guest on on Monday.

00:38:36.000 I've been working behind the scenes to get a really good expert on this story on Monday.

00:38:40.000 But this is what he goes on.

00:38:42.000 Khomeini, fearing the end of his criminal regime at the hands of the people and with the help of your powerful promise, he's speaking to President Trump to support the protesters, has threatened the people on the streets with a brutal crackdown.

00:38:54.000 Now, there's reports of at least 50 people have been killed in the skirmishes with, you know, I suppose the regime's muscle clashing with protesters on the streets, has threatened people on the streets with brutal crackdown.

00:39:09.000 He wants to use this blackout to murder these young heroes.

00:39:12.000 So this has been a very youth-oriented movement.

00:39:14.000 A lot of students, a lot of merchants that have been struggling under this merchants.

00:39:20.000 We always say like it's the Middle Ages.

00:39:22.000 The merchant of Venice, these are business people.

00:39:24.000 Traders, their camel carrots have been probably like smaller businesses, though, right? 0.94

00:39:29.000 Like the people that are actually trying to make a living in Iran.

00:39:32.000 I've called on the people, uh, called the people to the streets to fight for their freedom and to overwhelm the security forces with sheer numbers.

00:39:38.000 Last night, they did that.

00:39:39.000 Your threat to this criminal regime has also kept the regime's thugs at bay.

00:39:42.000 But time is of the essence: the people will be on the streets again in an hour.

00:39:45.000 I'm asking you to help.

00:39:47.000 You have proven, and I know you are a man of peace and a man of your word.

00:39:50.000 Please be prepared to intervene to help the people of Iran.

00:39:53.000 Now, I don't know what he's calling for.

00:39:55.000 I mean, military intervention.

00:39:57.000 Last time we did this, it was like Libya. 0.97

00:39:59.000 And listen, if there's a way for President Trump, even morally, to support the people of Iran to rise up and take over their own country, I'm all for it. 0.97

00:40:07.000 To your point, I do not want to invite a reason for optimism.

00:40:12.000 As you say, Iran is long been a major civilization.

00:40:17.000 It's a relatively more modern Middle Eastern country before the revolution.

00:40:26.000 They have their very talented people.

00:40:28.000 This is not like intervening in Central Africa or something where it's just been backwards for a long time and it's not likely to go well.

00:40:36.000 Iran is a country that is already, in a lot of places, quite secular on the ground.

00:40:42.000 You can meet Iranians who are from that country, and they'll often say, Yeah, a lot of people don't take Islam terribly seriously.

00:40:50.000 I'd say it's a lot less, other than the regime itself, it's a lot less robust than it might be in Egypt or in Iraq or certainly in Afghanistan.

00:40:59.000 So, if you do topple the regime, I think you're very likely to get a secular-friendly government back.

00:41:04.000 But people would always ask, you know, what would Charlie make of this?

00:41:08.000 And I think I would share with him: you get talked into these interventions by being told it'll be easy and smooth, and it never is for more on many of these stories and news you can trust.
