00:00:00.000 All right, everybody, welcome to the Charlie Kirk Show.
00:00:02.000 Andrew Colvett filling in for Charlie.
00:00:04.000 He is on assignment at Cal Poly today.
00:00:06.000 He's going to have a lot of stories.
00:00:08.000 So stay tuned for that.
00:00:10.000 We talk about the state of the union, and I think we do a very good job in this episode of breaking down what Biden is facing, how he is attacking this speech tonight, what Democrats are looking for, the different factions within his own party that he's going to be playing to and playing against, as well as Speaker Johnson.
00:00:27.000 We're going to be looking at Speaker Johnson.
00:00:29.000 When does he stand up?
00:00:30.000 When does he sit down?
00:00:31.000 When does he avoid it?
00:00:32.000 When does he applaud?
00:00:33.000 What are the dynamics within the Republican conference that are at play as well?
00:00:38.000 We break it all down and more.
00:00:39.000 You're not going to want to miss it right here on the Charlie Kirk show.
00:00:42.000 Buckle up.
00:00:43.000 Here we go.
00:00:44.000 Charlie, what you've done is incredible here.
00:00:45.000 Maybe Charlie Kirk is on the college campus.
00:00:48.000 I want you to know we are lucky to have Charlie Kirk.
00:00:51.000 Charlie Kirk's running the White House, folks.
00:00:54.000 I want to thank Charlie.
00:00:55.000 He's an incredible guy.
00:00:56.000 His spirit, his love of this country.
00:00:58.000 He's done an amazing job building one of the most powerful youth organizations ever created.
00:01:03.000 Turning point USA.
00:01:05.000 We will not embrace the ideas that have destroyed countries, destroyed lives, and we are going to fight for freedom on campuses across the country.
00:01:13.000 That's why we are here.

00:01:42.000 So tonight is the big state of the union.
00:01:46.000 This will be Joe Biden's third state of the union and definitely his most consequential, his most controversial.
00:01:57.000 And they're not getting off to a good start, folks.
00:01:59.000 His staff on social media posted that it was actually the State of the Union 2023, February 7th.
00:02:06.000 So they don't even have the right year.
00:02:09.000 It's a mess.
00:02:10.000 Everybody's commenting on how incompetent everybody is at the White House.
00:02:14.000 And boy, does it seem true.
00:02:17.000 And there's so many storylines this year, being an election year, 2024, everything's hinging on November.
00:02:26.000 But what's really interesting is how Joe Biden is actually really at a he's facing off not just against rock-ribbed, hard-right Republicans, MAGA extremists.
00:02:37.000 He's facing off against parties or factions within his own party.
00:02:43.000 This is perhaps one of the more interesting storylines.
00:02:47.000 Joe Biden is so terrible at his job.
00:02:51.000 Not only does he have historic disapproval ratings, but he has managed to alienate big factions within the Democrat coalition.
00:03:02.000 And all of that is at play tonight.
00:03:04.000 All of that is at play tonight.
00:03:06.000 So I want to walk through some of these factions with you.
00:03:10.000 So we know that in Michigan, for example, we had a hundred thousand in the Democrat primary, we had a hundred thousand voters mark their ballots as uncommitted.
00:03:24.000 100,000.
00:03:25.000 Now, remember, Trump lost Michigan, and I'll use the air quotes for you, lost Michigan by 154,000 votes in 2020.
00:03:34.000 He's got 100,000 Middle East or North African dissent voters in Michigan that marked uncommitted.
00:03:45.000 What is that about?
00:03:46.000 It's obviously about his handling of the Israeli-Hamas conflict that's raging in the Middle East.
00:03:53.000 So now they're saying they want to ceasefire.
00:03:55.000 You've even got Corey Bush, who is invited a victim from the conflict, but it's not the victim that you might assume.
00:04:08.000 Corey Bush is bringing Intima Salama, a dentist who claims to have lost 35 family members in the Israeli-Gaza offensive.
00:04:18.000 So Corey Bush is loud and proud out against Joe Biden.
00:04:22.000 Now, we also know that Joe Biden is losing.
00:04:25.000 young voters.
00:04:27.000 This is something near and dear to our hearts here at the Charlie Kirk show.
00:04:31.000 I am not exactly sure what to do to make of these poll numbers.
00:04:35.000 I'll be really honest with you.
00:04:36.000 But Joe Biden is bleeding support from young voters, bleeding support.
00:04:41.000 He cannot afford to have any slippage in this block, but he is getting massive slippage.
00:04:47.000 He's got RFK to contend with.
00:04:49.000 But also, according to a lot of polls, Trump is winning the youth vote right now.
00:04:54.000 Trump is winning the youth vote against Joe Biden.
00:04:57.000 Multiple factors.
00:04:59.000 This is why you see Joe Biden attempting, even though the Supreme Court slapped him down in his first attempt to cancel student loan debt.
00:05:10.000 He's using plan B's and plan C's.
00:05:12.000 He's trying to chip away at it.
00:05:14.000 It's not enough.
00:05:14.000 He's trying to buy the votes of younger voters, and it's not enough.
00:05:18.000 They are more fixated on how he's handling Israel.
00:05:22.000 And by the way, just one quick note.
00:05:24.000 I don't want to hear anybody complain anymore about how Trump is threatening these age-old alliances with NATO, and he's a Putin puppet.
00:05:32.000 You've got Kamala Harris saying Hamas needs to do what Hamas needs to do.
00:05:37.000 Hamas needs to do what Hamas needs to do.
00:05:39.000 So Trump is trying to put pressure on NATO.
00:05:43.000 He's talking a little crap.
00:05:44.000 I get it.
00:05:45.000 It's not the custom that we've grown used to in American politics where you issue all these public platitudes and you try and say nice things, but then behind closed door, you negotiate.
00:05:57.000 No, Trump comes out and he says NATO better pay its bills.
00:06:00.000 And it works.
00:06:02.000 And yet he gets labeled as, oh, he's trying to get, he's trying to encourage people to, or Putin to invade our NATO allies.
00:06:08.000 Meanwhile, you've got Kamala Harris saying that Hamas needs to do what it needs to do against Israel.
00:06:16.000 Why?
00:06:17.000 Because they have a coalition that includes places like Dearborn, Michigan, which are going to factor in heavily in this election.
00:06:26.000 And they are really, really putting the screws to Israel to get this ceasefire done, even though Israel doesn't want a ceasefire.
00:06:34.000 It's just a fascinating, fascinating dynamic.
00:06:36.000 And yet Trump is the one that's threatening alliances.
00:06:39.000 We have probably no closer alliance than Israel.
00:06:43.000 We could talk about that at another time, but here she is out there.
00:06:48.000 So you've got young people.
00:06:49.000 You've got this Dearborn, Michigan crowd that's voting uncommitted.
00:06:56.000 By the way, there's 300,000 voters in Michigan alone that are either Muslim or of North African and Middle Eastern descent.
00:07:05.000 It's your immigration working for you there, America.
00:07:12.000 But you also have, interestingly enough, the border crisis that's spilling over for Joe Biden.
00:07:19.000 John Fetterman, John Fetterman, is this the weirdest redemption arc of all time?
00:07:25.000 I'm not going to go that far.
00:07:26.000 I think he's a died-in-the-wool Democrat.
00:07:29.000 He's basically, from an economic standpoint, he's a Marxist.
00:07:32.000 But this is where you're seeing this come to fruition here, come to the fore.
00:07:37.000 The old school Democrats, the old school libs did not want unfettered mass immigration.
00:07:42.000 Why?
00:07:42.000 Bernie Sanders doesn't like it.
00:07:44.000 Why?
00:07:45.000 Because it drives down the wages of Native workers.
00:07:48.000 This is something that has now become a central plank of the conservative and the Republican Party.
00:07:53.000 But John Fetterman's looking at it and saying, I want HR2.
00:07:56.000 If you throw in an exception for DACA, I want HR2.
00:07:59.000 Now, HR2 is a very tough border bill passed by the Republican House.
00:08:05.000 You have John Fetterman saying that.
00:08:07.000 So you've got sort of Joe Biden facing these headwinds to the center, the center left from the John Fettermans of the world.
00:08:15.000 And then you also have the Hispanic caucus, the Congressional Hispanic Caucus, that's outraged administration and other Democrats failed to engage them in the border talk.
00:08:26.000 Now they're mad that the now dead, thankfully, bipartisan, and I'm going to use air quotes on that too, border bill went too far in modifying asylum claims.
00:08:38.000 So Joe Biden is in a very, very precarious position.
00:08:43.000 And a lot of that is going to come to the fore tonight at the State of the Union.
00:08:47.000 Interesting to see how he's going to try and bring those coalitions together or if he's going to pick one over the other.
00:08:56.000 We're watching for all of that.
00:08:58.000 Now, the main takeaway here is that you have a historically unpopular president.
00:09:06.000 Polling is cataclysmic for the Biden administration, the Biden regime.
00:09:12.000 Now, all of this, I'm assuming this Democrat coalition that's pieced together with duct tape and bubblegum would forgive Joe Biden for a lot of these sins if he was popular, if he was over 50%.
00:09:26.000 But he is not.
00:09:26.000 He's in the tank right now.
00:09:29.000 So what are they going to do?
00:09:31.000 They're going to make tonight all about abortion.
00:09:35.000 Abortion, health care, IVF, these are going to be the things.
00:09:38.000 Even though the vast majority of conservatives, probably in Congress as well, support things like IVF as the Alabama brought this to the fore.
00:09:47.000 The problem is they are very strategic.
00:09:51.000 They're putting these referendums on the ballot in a lot of key swing states heading into November.
00:09:58.000 They're going to make this all about Republicans want to take away your freedom to abort your child.
00:10:08.000 Who can you trust?
00:10:09.000 Government leaders repeatedly fail us.
00:10:10.000 Self-appointed experts have led us astray.
00:10:13.000 Distrust in sold authorities is spreading like a bad cold, and we can't quite shake it.
00:10:17.000 But you're not as powerless as they'd like you to believe.
00:10:20.000 When there's no one to depend on, it's time to rely on yourself.
00:10:23.000 Not sure where to start?

00:11:01.000 Let's just remember for a second, shall we?
00:11:05.000 Joe Biden turned down the Super Bowl interview.
00:11:09.000 100 million people, edited, clean, tight, very narrow window of time that he has to perform.
00:11:16.000 They shoot a bunch of something into him.
00:11:19.000 It's all he's got to do.
00:11:20.000 100 million people.
00:11:21.000 He could have got his message out to 100 million people, chose to forego that opportunity.
00:11:27.000 And instead, now we're doing this state of the union.
00:11:30.000 So if you're Biden's team, not only do you have this civil war brewing within the Democrat coalition that's fracturing massively, and some of the polling will show you just how bad it's fracturing.
00:11:41.000 I want you to think about this.
00:11:42.000 You've got 11, I mentioned Michigan, but in Minnesota, these protest votes against Joe Biden, you've got 11 uncommitted delegates.
00:11:51.000 In Hawaii, you've got seven uncommitted delegates.
00:11:56.000 This is starting to become a real movement.
00:11:58.000 Now, these are protest votes.
00:12:00.000 We don't know if these people are going to eventually come home to the Democrats or if they're going to vote for Jill Stein or they're going to vote for RFK.
00:12:08.000 I could see a lot, and I mean a lot of the younger voters going for RFK.
00:12:13.000 So, that is one of the dynamics to see how much he's going to try and make up the ground with abortion.
00:12:19.000 Now, as a pro-lifer, for the life of me, I will never get my head around why people like to kill babies so much.
00:12:27.000 I don't get it.
00:12:28.000 I think it's this psychological security blanket that if something were to happen, if they were to get pregnant with an unwanted pregnancy, that they would have an outcard.
00:12:38.000 They would have an exit clause.
00:12:40.000 And that is so important, especially to young women, which I find appalling.
00:12:45.000 It's simply the fact.
00:12:47.000 I think we need to, as a conservative movement, get so much better at messaging about abortion, the beauty of life.
00:12:54.000 Honestly, this is why faith is so important.
00:12:56.000 As we lose our faith in this country, abortion becomes more and more of a normalized thing that people can use as a get out of jail card, as they see it.
00:13:06.000 It's really appalling to me.
00:13:08.000 It genuinely is.
00:13:09.000 And the psychology behind it is incredible, but it is a powerful, powerful voting incentive.
00:13:15.000 When we talk about voting incentives for people, this is something we always talk about behind the scenes on the show: is that when you, as a political movement or force, or party, are attempting to take something from somebody or write, that it becomes very visceral.
00:13:32.000 So, it's a very challenging political thing to accomplish.
00:13:37.000 It doesn't mean it's not the right thing for us to do and pursue and to keep messaging and educating, but it's very, very challenging.
00:13:44.000 This is why gun rights have been such a pesky thorn in the left sides.
00:13:49.000 Not only is it enshrined in our Constitution, but you're also taking a right away from gun-owning Americans.
00:13:56.000 They don't like that, they will vote against that.
00:13:59.000 So, we have our single-issue voters on our side as well.
00:14:02.000 I think it's a huge opportunity, especially in the when you look at Michigan, when you look at Wisconsin, when you look at Pennsylvania, there are large swaths of voters that are hunters, that are gun owners.
00:14:15.000 They tend to be the types that want to stay off the grid, they don't want to necessarily get involved in the civic process and vote, and they are not registered.
00:14:23.000 So, at Turning Point Action, working with guys like Scott Pressler and other groups, we're working actively to register these voters and to make sure they understand that that side of the aisle, the Democrats, want to take your vote, your right away to own these guns, to hunt, to exercise the freedoms that your father and your grandfather passed down to you.
00:14:41.000 So, these are very important deals.
00:14:43.000 So, basically, what this is going to be, if I had to predict what's going to happen tonight, you are going to have Joe Biden lean on abortion, abortion, abortion.
00:14:53.000 You're going to have all of this.
00:14:54.000 And this is sort of, and you know, and you're going to see all the infighting on their side, certainly, but that is going to be their main thing.
00:15:02.000 They're going to talk about health care, women.
00:15:05.000 They know they're making gains with women while men are becoming more and more conservative at the younger level, especially.
00:15:11.000 But across the board, that's true.
00:15:14.000 So, look at the Democrat guests.
00:15:16.000 Rep Judy Chu invited Caitlin Bernard, the abortionist, who did an abortion on a 10-year-old after Roe got overturned.
00:15:24.000 I mean, that's pretty incredible.
00:15:26.000 Tim Kaine is bringing Elizabeth Carr, the first U.S. IVF baby, as if conservatives want to end IVF.
00:15:33.000 The Alabama thing was just what it is, right?
00:15:37.000 And there is a legitimate sort of debate that the right will engage in about when does life begin.
00:15:44.000 But this is why Trump came out in favor of IVF so forcefully so that it wouldn't become a cudgel on the left that we're against.
00:15:57.000 Hey, this is Charlie Kirk, and I know a lot of you have been suffering under the Biden economy.
00:16:02.000 Recently, school loan payments have been reinstated, and for many, it's adding thousands to their monthly expenses.
00:16:07.000 My friends, Andrew Delray and Todd of Akien, they're amazing.
00:16:10.000 They really helped me through a tough, tough situation recently.
00:16:12.000 They've been excellent.
00:16:14.000 They're ethical.
00:16:15.000 They're just really great people.
00:16:17.000 They're followers of Jesus Christ, and our worldviews are the same.
00:16:20.000 I love them.
00:16:21.000 And so please go to AndrewNTodd.com.
00:16:23.000 Interest rates are coming down, and they may be able to lower your overall payment.
00:16:26.000 In fact, one of our team members said, Charlie, is it time to me to own a home?
00:16:29.000 I sat down.
00:16:29.000 I went through the numbers.
00:16:30.000 I said, get in the owner game.
00:16:31.000 Honestly, enough renting.
00:16:32.000 You are burning your money renting.
00:16:33.000 It might be a little bit more to own, but you're building equity.
00:16:36.000 That's money you'll have for the rest of your life.
00:16:38.000 Perhaps a reverse mortgage is a perfect solution.
00:16:40.000 It's about expertise you could trust in times like this.
00:16:43.000 I can't tell you how helpful they've been for me personally.
00:16:45.000 They've just been excellent.
00:16:46.000 Andrew and Todd, I'm honored to call them friends.
00:16:48.000 We hang out when I go to Orange County together.
00:16:50.000 They're really great.
00:16:51.000 So say, Charlie sent me 888-888-1172.
00:16:53.000 That's 888-888-1172.
00:16:55.000 They helped me through a mortgage situation recently that was super complex and moving pieces, and it was really, really tough.
00:17:02.000 And other banks, by the way, wanted nothing to do with it, and they crushed it for me.
00:17:05.000 10 out of 10.
00:17:06.000 AndrewNTodd.com.
00:17:07.000 So check it out right now, AndrewandTodd.com.
00:17:11.000 Let's get into this.
00:17:13.000 I'm just going to take you down memory lane, and we're going to go back to 1995.
00:17:19.000 My, how the Democrat Party has changed.
00:17:22.000 Cut 76.
00:17:23.000 This is Bill Clinton on illegal immigration.
00:17:26.000 All Americans, not only in the states most heavily affected, but in every place in this country, are rightly disturbed by the large numbers of illegal aliens entering our country.
00:17:38.000 The jobs they hold might otherwise be held by citizens or legal immigrants.
00:17:42.000 The public service they use impose burdens on our taxpayers.
00:17:46.000 That's why our administration has moved aggressively to secure our borders more by hiring a record number of new border guards, by deporting twice as many criminal aliens as ever before, by cracking down on illegal hiring, by barring welfare benefits to illegal aliens.
00:18:02.000 In the budget I will present to you, we will try to do more.
00:18:06.000 Man, Bill Clinton sounds like a Republican.
00:18:09.000 You listen back.
00:18:10.000 1995, that was not that long ago.
00:18:13.000 29 years ago, and the Democrat Party has completely lost its mind.
00:18:19.000 Well, we can't forget this moment from Trump's State of the Union speech, Cut 75.
00:18:25.000 And my fellow Americans, the best is yet to come.
00:18:30.000 Thank you.
00:18:31.000 God bless you.
00:18:32.000 And God bless America.
00:18:34.000 Thank you very much.
00:18:40.000 Unreal.
00:18:41.000 I actually didn't remember that she did three separate, deliberate tears of the speech.
00:18:49.000 And for those listening on radio, that was Nancy Pelosi behind President Trump ripping up the speech.
00:18:56.000 It went viral around the world.
00:18:57.000 That was quite the moment.
00:18:59.000 Let's play Cut 77.
00:19:01.000 This is Biden when he says Iranian instead of Ukrainian in one of his mini gaffes, 77.
00:19:08.000 In the battle between democracy and autocracies, democracies are rising to the moment, and the world is clearly choosing the side of peace and security.
00:19:17.000 We stand with you.
00:19:19.000 We stand with you.
00:19:20.000 Putin may circle Kyiv with tanks, but he'll never gain the hearts and souls of the Iranian people.
00:19:28.000 He'll never extinguish their love of freedom, and he will never, never weaken the resolve of the free world.
00:19:36.000 Oh, I love that.
00:19:36.000 The sort of like, wait, that was an applause line, but you flubbed it, Joe.
00:19:41.000 And that is actually a real concern.
00:19:43.000 So Democrats are worried tonight whether or not Joe Biden could get pumped full of enough, you know, B-12 shots and then some, whatever drugs they're pumping into that.
00:19:53.000 But yeah, he never corrected himself, totally ruined the applause line.
00:19:57.000 I mean, the guy is really old.
00:20:00.000 And you talk about this.
00:20:02.000 He's 80, 81.
00:20:03.000 President Trump is 77.
00:20:05.000 But man, do they just present so differently?
00:20:10.000 It's pretty incredible, actually, just how feeble he really looks.
00:20:14.000 His trip to the border, Brownsville, that didn't have any illegal crossings, total PR stunt.
00:20:21.000 He looked doddering.
00:20:23.000 He looked, I mean, he was shuffling.
00:20:24.000 He just looked skinny.
00:20:26.000 And anyways, so that's going to be a real something to watch here.
00:20:30.000 But another thing to watch is going to be Speaker Johnson.
00:20:34.000 So there's going to be a lot of pressure.
00:20:37.000 So I know what our friends Steve Bannon have been saying.
00:20:41.000 Charlie's been extremely critical of Speaker Johnson in a lot of ways, especially extending some of these funding packages.
00:20:54.000 But we have to remember: ask yourself this: could we get better than Speaker Johnson in our current dynamic, in our current context?
00:21:03.000 I mean, send us emails, freedom at charliekirk.com.
00:21:06.000 I want to hear your thoughts.
00:21:08.000 Could we get better than Speaker Johnson?
00:21:10.000 I do believe that Speaker Johnson is a rock rib conservative.
00:21:14.000 He is trying to keep a two-seat majority intact, which means he has to deal with the Dom Bacons of the world, which are basically, you know, Democrats, but they're in the Republican caucus.
00:21:28.000 And so we're trying to work with these to keep things together.
00:21:31.000 Now, I know a lot of people want to shut the government down.
00:21:35.000 I want that selfishly.
00:21:38.000 But there are, and we've gotten this from sources inside the conference that say that the polling is so bad on that that we would lose the House in November if we shut it down.
00:21:50.000 So I understand.
00:21:51.000 I want to shut it down.
00:21:52.000 The fact that we're spending a trillion dollars we're running trillion dollar deficits every hundred days to six months is absolutely unacceptable.
00:22:01.000 100%.
00:22:02.000 I'm with you on all those things.
00:22:04.000 We have to do it.
00:22:06.000 Can we do it now?
00:22:08.000 Can we do it now with this current composition of Congress?
00:22:11.000 It's a very, very challenging dynamic for Speaker Johnson.
00:22:15.000 He genuinely might have the hardest job in America.
00:22:17.000 Newt Gingrich, I'm told, called Speaker Johnson and said, I could not succeed in your job in its current context and dynamic.
00:22:30.000 That's Newt Gingrich, who helped balance the budget, who helped push Bill Clinton, who we just saw in that clip, to the middle.
00:22:38.000 It's a very, very challenging position.
00:22:43.000 Now, the latest offense is the House on Wednesday night passed six consolidated spending bills as one package.
00:22:54.000 We call this the minibus, which will keep about half the government funded through next fall.
00:23:00.000 The bill passed 339 to 85.
00:23:04.000 It was basically, there were two Democrats that voted against it, and the rest were conservative Republicans in the House.
00:23:12.000 So that's no shutdown.
00:23:14.000 And of course, no fix to the border.
00:23:17.000 So this is what Mike Johnson said.
00:23:19.000 He said, quote, we only control one half of one-third of the federal government.
00:23:24.000 So we have to be realistic about what we're able to achieve.
00:23:27.000 Now, again, the thing that is playing in the back of their minds is the fact that the polling is abysmal on shutting down the government.
00:23:35.000 I could care less about shutting down the government.
00:23:37.000 It's not a real shutdown.
00:23:38.000 You know, basically, the world will go on.
00:23:40.000 Nobody will notice the difference except for a very few select people in Congress or in government.
00:23:47.000 But there are a this is the real offensive thing.
00:23:51.000 So there are about 12 billion in earmarks, 12 billion in earmarks.
00:23:58.000 There's 6,000 earmarks, and there's about 100 with Diane Feinstein's name on them, even though she's dead.
00:24:04.000 This is how broken Washington is.
00:24:07.000 $3.5 million for Detroit's Thanksgiving Day parade.
00:24:11.000 Again, they're trying to buy votes in Michigan.
00:24:13.000 $2.7 million for a bike park in White Sulphur Springs, West Virginia, which is, you know, essentially giving them $1,200, $1,200 for every resident of the city.
00:24:26.000 And there's more.
00:24:27.000 I mean, they were trying to get this kinky sex thing club funded.
00:24:32.000 Anyways, Republicans did manage to remove a policy at the VA which put a flag on veterans in the federal gun background check system if they were found incompetent to handle their finances.
00:24:46.000 One of those foot-in-the-door policies that the left likes to get into to basically start a nationwide gun tracking system.
00:24:55.000 So it's, you know, there were a few wins.
00:24:58.000 You know, I guess the deal keeps domestic spending flat while slightly raising military spending.
00:25:04.000 It does have cuts to the ATF, FBI, and some environmental programs.
00:25:09.000 But Johnson's got a tough job.
00:25:11.000 That's my big takeaway: Johnson's got a tough job.
00:25:14.000 If the polling is correct, now I genuinely want to hear from the audience on this.
00:25:19.000 Freedom at CharlieKirk.com.
00:25:21.000 Would you rather, Speaker Johnson, try and thread the needle right now, avoid the government shutdown, and in so doing, regain power in November, where we can actually cut the size of government, where we can actually work with hopefully President Trump to rein in this weaponized intel agencies, weaponized justice system.
00:25:43.000 Or would you rather he just shut it down right now to hell with the consequences?
00:25:48.000 Now, there's a lot of people that say just shut it down right now.
00:25:51.000 And I'm right in the middle with you.
00:25:53.000 It's a debate worth having.
00:25:56.000 But I'm telling you from sources in Congress that I speak with, they are all seeing the polling that they will lose the House majority, as slim as it is.
00:26:06.000 They will lose it in November if they move forward with a burn-it-all-down approach right now.
00:26:13.000 It's a conundrum.
00:26:14.000 It's tough.
00:26:15.000 And, you know, I don't know.
00:26:16.000 Maybe Republicans, you know, would have a slightly better deal if we hadn't kicked a Republican out of the House and handed his seat to a Democrat.
00:26:23.000 Maybe, maybe, maybe we should have thought about that instead of playing the left's virtue signaling game.
00:26:29.000 It's a risk-reward calculation that we need to be pragmatic about, in my opinion.
00:26:34.000 But I want to hear from you.
00:26:38.000 Hey, everybody.
00:26:38.000 There is an eagerly awaited release of Cabrini in theaters on March 8th, International Woman's Day.
00:26:43.000 It's an amazing film.
00:26:44.000 I saw it the other day.
00:26:46.000 It is incredible.
00:26:47.000 It's like the godfather, but better.
00:26:48.000 From Angel Studios in Alejandro, Monteverde, award-winning director of Sound of Freedom, comes the powerful true story of Francesca Cabrini, an Italian immigrant who arrives in New York City in 1889 and is greeted by disease, crime, and impoverished children.
00:27:02.000 Cabrini is not merely a movie.
00:27:04.000 It is a tribute to the spirit of women everywhere.
00:27:06.000 It tells the story of a trailblazer, a visionary whose tireless dedication to serving others transcends boundaries and inspire generations.
00:27:13.000 On this International Woman's Day, we can honor Cabrini's enduring legacy by celebrating the countless contributions of women throughout history.
00:27:21.000 Mark your calendars for March 8th and join me in theaters to experience the extraordinary journey of Mother Cabrini, a celebration of courage, compassion, and the triumph of the human spirit.
00:27:33.000 All right, so this whole talk about Speaker Johnson, I mean, it's, man, the emails are flooding in.
00:27:39.000 It's interesting to be in Charlie's position when the emails start flowing in and we really tap a vein of what people are thinking about.
00:27:46.000 I would say it was probably two to one, shut it down.
00:27:49.000 There was probably about 30% of the audience, 33% of the audience that wants to give Mike Johnson a little bit of leash.
00:27:56.000 But you got to remember: so when this poll comes out, it's basically like 70-30 that Republicans will be blamed and it will affect our House, the ability for us to get a House majority in November.
00:28:09.000 Now, Trump's coattails are certainly a thing.
00:28:12.000 Biden's low approval rating is going to factor into all of this.
00:28:15.000 So who knows how it will play out?
00:28:17.000 But when they take this single issue, it's very clear that it's not helpful.
00:28:22.000 Okay.
00:28:23.000 It's now a multivariate equation.
00:28:25.000 We have to be thinking on a multivariate level.
00:28:28.000 So I'm not saying it's a foregone conclusion that if you shut it down, we lose the House.
00:28:31.000 I'm saying that it seemingly contributes to a scenario where we wouldn't keep the House.
00:28:36.000 Now, what do you do if Trump gets elected and we don't have the House of Representatives?
00:28:41.000 Well, he's going to get impeached again.
00:28:43.000 They're going to throw subpoenas at everybody.
00:28:45.000 It's incredibly important that we hold the House.
00:28:48.000 So it's, you know, I'm just being real with you guys that this is what the political calculation is.
00:28:54.000 Can we stumble along with some semblance of sanity?
00:28:58.000 Now, remember, Speaker Johnson also blocked the Ukraine extortion bill for $60 billion.
00:29:04.000 So hats hit to him on that.
00:29:06.000 It is a, you know, that 30%, when I say it's about 70-30%, the people that make up this audience are in that 30%.
00:29:14.000 You know that the shutdown is garbage.
00:29:16.000 You know that it's not really a shutdown.
00:29:18.000 You know that practically speaking, it would be better for the country to stop spending trillions of dollars it doesn't have and shut it down to get concessions on the border.
00:29:26.000 Politically and pragmatically speaking, we have to deal with the reality that most Americans do not understand that.
00:29:33.000 Most Americans are uneducated about that.
00:29:35.000 We do our best on this show to educate everybody.
00:29:37.000 Now, if everybody was as smart as you are in this audience, we would shut it down immediately and you'd be hearing me be the loudest voice in the room.
00:29:44.000 I absolutely want to shut it down.
00:29:47.000 But I do concede the point that the American people are not necessarily on board with that.
00:29:51.000 It's something that's kind of the same conversation that we have with abortion.
00:29:55.000 The American people are not necessarily on the same page as you and I in this audience.
00:30:00.000 I'm pro-life as it comes.
00:30:02.000 Charlie is as pro-life as it comes.
00:30:04.000 The question is politically, how do you navigate that in an effective way?
00:30:09.000 How do you communicate that in an effective way so you don't get shellacked at the polls and have zero power to do anything that you want and make any progress that you want?
00:30:17.000 So, yeah, I mean, it's the political calculus is tricky.
00:30:22.000 Speaker Johnson might have the toughest job in the country right now.
00:30:27.000 I don't know.
00:30:28.000 I think the only one that might have a tougher job is Donald Trump's lawyers and Joe Biden.
00:30:34.000 It's incredibly tricky.
00:30:37.000 All right.
00:30:37.000 So one last thing I want to hit, okay?
00:30:40.000 Oh, and by the way, I will say this, though.
00:30:41.000 If Speaker Johnson gets up out of his chair to like clap for some spending, that's going to look terrible for him.
00:30:49.000 Terrible.
00:30:50.000 And that's one of the things I'm going to be watching for.
00:30:52.000 You know, this whole like state of the union calisthenics where you got to get up and down, you got to get up and down and clap about everything every five seconds.
00:31:00.000 That will look terrible.
00:31:02.000 So, Speaker Johnson, please do not clap for new spending.
00:31:07.000 Americans are done with it.
00:31:09.000 We're done with it.
00:31:11.000 I want to make one last note here because we're talking about who's coming tonight.
00:31:15.000 So look at the, we mentioned some of the Democrat guests.
00:31:18.000 Corey Bush bringing a, you know, a Gazin who's lost family members, the abortionist who did an abortion on a 10-year-old.
00:31:26.000 I mean, it's just their playbook is very, very obvious.
00:31:30.000 All right.
00:31:30.000 So Republican guests, House Speaker Mike Johnson is going to be bringing Chloe Cole, the D-transitioner that we've had on this show.
00:31:38.000 He's also going to be inviting the parents of Wall Street Journal reporter Evan Gerskovich, who's imprisoned in Russia.
00:31:46.000 Tucker asked Putin to release him.
00:31:48.000 I guess sort of to argue that Biden only cares about WNBA players or something.
00:31:54.000 Both parties are jointly welcoming 17 relatives of Hamas hostages held in Gaza.
00:32:00.000 Elise Stefanik is bringing a Border Patrol agent, Brandon Budlong.
00:32:04.000 Mike Collins invited Lake and Riley, and this he's from Georgia, invited Lake and Riley's parents, but they declined.
00:32:11.000 So instead, he's going to have an empty seat in honor of Lake and Riley, who was murdered at the hands of an illegal immigrant.
00:32:17.000 And Matt Gates is bringing former Green Beret John Frankman, who got pushed out of the service over the COVID-19 vaccine mandates.
00:32:29.000 So a lot to look for.
00:32:31.000 I think we did a pretty darn good job, a decent overview of what the dynamics at play are tonight and who's going to be saying what and how and what to look for.
00:32:40.000 Or you could just not watch and we'll tell you all about it tomorrow.
00:32:42.000 That's fine too.
00:32:43.000 I mean, I'm all about seeing the ratings tank for Joe Biden tonight.
00:32:47.000 So there's that.
00:32:50.000 Thanks so much for listening.
00:32:51.000 Everybody, email us as alwaysfreedom at charliekirk.com.
00:32:54.000 Thanks so much for listening and God bless.
