00:01:32.000 Thank you.
00:01:32.000 Welcome, guys.
00:01:33.000 Great to be here.
00:01:34.000 Been so blessed throughout the years to call you both friends, and we've done some really fun stuff together.
00:01:39.000 And it turns out we're just getting started.
00:01:41.000 We have something really exciting coming up in just a couple weeks.
00:01:44.000 Yeah, Dream Conference 2024.
00:01:47.000 And man, we have a great lineup this year.
00:01:50.000 It's a conference really that is about standing strong in all the cultural issues at the same time, how to show love and compassion to your city.
00:01:58.000 And I think that's the great balance we're looking for is, you know, being a pastor these days is really kind of walking a tightrope a little bit.
00:02:06.000 It's balancing the love and compassion of Jesus with holding strong to the justice and the truth of the Bible.
00:02:15.000 So we talked about that this past Sunday in church and we're talking about the Dream Conference as well.
00:02:20.000 And we just keep saying we can walk and shoot gum at the same time.
00:02:23.000 We can be strong in values and strong in compassion.
00:02:26.000 So just kind of tell us, by the way, anyone on the audience, there's lots of different URLs they could check out.
00:02:31.000 Tpfaith.com knows one way to get there and you know this is this is an exciting time to do it.
00:02:38.000 It's in Phoenix Arizona, in a couple weeks.
00:02:41.000 Talk about the original vision, how this all came to be.
00:02:44.000 Years ago in Davenport, Iowa that's where our first pastored our church exploded.
00:02:51.000 I went there and we had a 76 in attendance and we started reaching out to people and nobody wanted.
00:02:58.000 We reached the children and I bought a no bus and began to bring them in, and then I bought another and then I bought 10 and then I bought 20 out of 47 buses bringing, Bringing in people that a lot of people wouldn't even want to their church.
00:03:16.000 And it created a firestorm.
00:03:19.000 It literally captured the city.
00:03:21.000 We grew from 76 in eight years to 4,000 people average every single week.
00:03:29.000 And it got so big that I invited a friend that we had a part in his spiritual life, Johnny Cash.
00:03:36.000 And we filled the John O'Donnell Baseball Stadium about 30 plus thousand people.
00:03:43.000 And it was quite a story because he came by himself out.
00:03:48.000 He brought his entire entourage.
00:03:51.000 He charged at that time $100,000 for an appearance, which was about 45 years ago.
00:03:58.000 Oh, wow.
00:03:59.000 Which would be $200,000 or $300,000.
00:04:01.000 It would be now.
00:04:03.000 And you really didn't charge me a penny.
00:04:06.000 And he brought his entire entourage.
00:04:08.000 He brought his family.
00:04:10.000 And it really shook the nation up because Jerry Falwell at that time had the world's biggest Sunday school.
00:04:17.000 And I said to Mr. Cash, I want you to come and we're going to beat Jerry Falwell.
00:04:23.000 I loved him very much.
00:04:24.000 He was a dear friend of ours.
00:04:26.000 And we beat the Baptists that day.
00:04:28.000 Oh, is that right?
00:04:29.000 And I always say that.
00:04:29.000 How many people did you have?
00:04:31.000 We had over 30,000 people.
00:04:33.000 And at the invitation, we had over 6,000 people come forward like a Billy Graham crusade and accept Christ as their personal savior.
00:04:42.000 Was this in Iowa or is this in Phoenix?
00:04:44.000 Down in Port Iowa.
00:04:46.000 And so then your story is amazing.
00:04:48.000 So you had 30,000 people come and 6,000 people give their life to the Lord.
00:04:52.000 Think about that.
00:04:52.000 Yes.
00:04:53.000 That's generations of believers now, right?
00:04:56.000 So they might have had three kids and four kids.
00:04:59.000 So we're talking about tens of thousands of people and their grandkids.
00:05:03.000 Then how did you end up in Phoenix, Arizona?
00:05:05.000 Well, that story gets better.
00:05:06.000 I mean, Johnny Cash, he came and sang to the concert, and then my dad, you know, he gave the message and people responded.
00:05:12.000 He came back again.
00:05:14.000 Came back two years later.
00:05:15.000 And by the way, he never charged me one penny.
00:05:19.000 He brought six of those big trucks with the PA system.
00:05:19.000 That's incredible.
00:05:24.000 And we didn't even think about the PA system, but he brought it.
00:05:30.000 And just a wonderful, I tell you, a wonderful man.
00:05:33.000 He truly was a great man.
00:05:36.000 Wow.
00:05:37.000 And a kind man.
00:05:38.000 Generous man.
00:05:38.000 Wow.
00:05:39.000 Yeah, that's a side of Johnny Cash we don't always hear.
00:05:43.000 And so, but so then you, God calls you to the desert.
00:05:43.000 That's right.
00:05:47.000 Is that right?
00:05:48.000 That's right.
00:05:49.000 Yeah.
00:05:50.000 I always wanted to go to a city that you could reach everybody and never reach everybody.
00:05:58.000 I wanted to go to a city where you'd never fish it out.
00:06:03.000 And when I heard about this city, everybody thought I was crazy because I was going from a church of 4,000 people to a church of 200 that had been...
00:06:14.000 So you were in the quad cities, major church.
00:06:18.000 And they say, hey, come to this place.
00:06:18.000 Yes.
00:06:20.000 We're still, you know, air conditioning is still being introduced.
00:06:23.000 True.
00:06:24.000 Did they have it yet?
00:06:25.000 No, just had, just got it.
00:06:27.000 And the city was booming.
00:06:29.000 Because of the, yeah, obviously.
00:06:30.000 Yes.
00:06:31.000 And I decided, I want to go to a city like that.
00:06:34.000 The future is ahead of it.
00:06:36.000 We can reach everybody and still not reach everybody because the city was just growing 100,000 sometime a year.
00:06:45.000 And so 44 years ago, we came with 200 people.
00:06:50.000 And it was Phoenix first at the time, is that right?
00:06:50.000 Wow.
00:06:52.000 Yeah, that was on 3rd Street in about Osborne, 3rd Street in Monte Vista.
00:06:57.000 Yes.
00:06:58.000 And it started just with the community, and now it's, I mean, it's the behemoth of the valley.
00:07:05.000 Well, he did the same thing here that he did in Davenport.
00:07:08.000 They said you couldn't run a bus ministry here.
00:07:11.000 Nobody would do it.
00:07:12.000 It's more of a white-collar city.
00:07:14.000 But what did you do?
00:07:15.000 Well, I looked around and I saw a lot of little children running in the street.
00:07:19.000 Nobody was reaching them.
00:07:22.000 So I thought, you know what, somebody's got to reach them.
00:07:25.000 I decided when I came that I wasn't going to do bus ministry because it was very expensive.
00:07:31.000 And it took about 500 people to really run a bus route the way it should be.
00:07:38.000 And it was very expensive, taxing and everything.
00:07:43.000 But I saw the need.
00:07:45.000 And we've always built a church upon finding a need and filling it.
00:07:50.000 You can build the greatest church in the world by systems, and I believe in systems.
00:07:55.000 But you can build a greatest church on just looking for needs in your community.
00:08:00.000 So one day I got a phone call from a little lady.
00:08:03.000 She said, I want to come to your church.
00:08:06.000 But I said, well, okay.
00:08:08.000 She said, I have no way to get there.
00:08:09.000 And I said, look, where do you live?
00:08:11.000 And she told me.
00:08:13.000 And I said, we got a bus route that runs right by there.
00:08:16.000 You get on that bus.
00:08:18.000 And she said, I can't do that, Pastor.
00:08:21.000 Oh, I said, sure, you can, Mama.
00:08:23.000 Get on that bus.
00:08:24.000 And she began to cry.
00:08:26.000 She said, you see, I'm in a wheelchair.
00:08:29.000 I have no legs.
00:08:31.000 And it really touched me.
00:08:33.000 I'd found a need that nobody was fulfilling it.
00:08:36.000 And every time I find a need, I get excited because it's an opportunity to do something for God and go someplace that nobody's ever gone before.
00:08:47.000 So I said, you know what?
00:08:50.000 I'm going to find a way to get you to church.
00:08:53.000 And one day I was driving down the road and I saw a bus.
00:08:56.000 It was a different kind of bus.
00:08:57.000 The driver jumped out, ran around, opened up a door, pushed a button, and a lift went up, and they rolled out a little lady in a wheelchair.
00:09:07.000 And she looked like Queen Elizabeth on her throne.
00:09:11.000 And they pushed the button and down it came.
00:09:14.000 And I said, you know what?
00:09:16.000 I'm going to get me one of those.
00:09:18.000 I love that.
00:09:19.000 I went to the board and they agreed to get one.
00:09:21.000 And we ended up with eight of them.
00:09:24.000 And every Sunday morning we brought them and we didn't put them in the back of the church.
00:09:29.000 The Bible said when you have the needy, you put them on the front.
00:09:33.000 And we filled the whole front with the people that were in the wheelchairs.
00:09:37.000 And I noticed when I spoke that morning, a lot of people were sobbing.
00:09:43.000 And after service is over, I said, you know, these wheelchair people make a lot of noise.
00:09:47.000 They're crying.
00:09:49.000 And those who said, no, it's not them.
00:09:51.000 It's your church that was very class conscious, who was so touched and they were weeping.
00:09:57.000 Wow.
00:09:58.000 And it revolutioned our church.
00:09:59.000 And we built a church on finding needs and filling them.
00:10:05.000 That led us to the human trafficking ministry and over 250 ministries that we reached out by finding needs and finding hurts.
00:10:15.000 And that is Christ's intent for the church, to be the ecclesia.
00:10:19.000 So let's talk just more about the event.
00:10:21.000 It's a really great opportunity for believers across the country.
00:10:26.000 Do you have to be a pastor to attend this event?
00:10:28.000 No.
00:10:28.000 Pastors are encouraged to come and bring their teams, really.
00:10:31.000 That's the value of this conference.
00:10:32.000 It's very inexpensive to come.
00:10:34.000 And honestly, it's a big show and tell.
00:10:37.000 It's so practical that we want to show you exactly how to find needs in your community and fill those needs, find the hurts and heal those hurts.
00:10:48.000 So every session is very practical.
00:10:50.000 We also have breakout sessions that are taught by the people in our church who are not on staff, but they're just leaders.
00:10:56.000 They're leading these ministries.
00:10:58.000 So the real value for your church is bringing lots of people because they'll get a hold of a ministry and start it.
00:11:05.000 So walk through what is the schedule without too much detail.
00:11:09.000 What does it look like?
00:11:10.000 What can people expect if they come to strong church?
00:11:12.000 Yeah, it all begins at 6:30 on Monday night.
00:11:15.000 Pastor Jensen Franklin is our guest speaker.
00:11:18.000 But before it even begins, we have what we call the parade of ministries.
00:11:22.000 And we have about 175 ministries of our church represented by 3,000 workers in our church who will parade across the stage, you know, carrying their sign with all their workers.
00:11:36.000 And it takes 30 minutes to get all the people across the stage.
00:11:39.000 And it's just a real visual of what can happen in a church when every member becomes a minister.
00:11:46.000 And, you know, we always say that's our job as pastors to equip the people and send them out to do the ministry so they get to do the fun stuff.
00:11:53.000 You said 175 ministries?
00:11:55.000 Different ministries.
00:11:57.000 And you will love it because those thousands of people that come across while we're worshiping, the worship team, and some of them will be in wheelchairs, some of them will be in motorcycles.
00:12:09.000 And they must be so excited to have the chance to be honored, right?
00:12:11.000 That's right.
00:12:12.000 They're waving.
00:12:14.000 They're throwing stuff in the audience that relates to their ministry.
00:12:19.000 I mean, it's fun.
00:12:20.000 The people are laughing.
00:12:21.000 Let me tell you, pastors, they have the notebook and they're writing down all the different ministries that make up this church.
00:12:28.000 And many of them say that after the prayer ministry, they could go home and it'd be worth it all when they write down 175 ministries.
00:12:38.000 Because when someone comes to us in the church and says, here's a need, then we say, why don't you develop a ministry on that need?
00:12:47.000 And so when they do, we make it a part of our church.
00:12:51.000 Wow.
00:12:51.000 So everybody is a minister.
00:12:53.000 We teach that to them.
00:12:55.000 So give me a taste of you have the anti-child sex trafficking ministry, right?
00:12:59.000 We do.
00:13:00.000 You have the homeless recovery ministry.
00:13:02.000 I'm just going off the top of my head, but 175.
00:13:05.000 We have Thrive Ministry, which is the state's largest ministry for kids who are aged out of foster care.
00:13:12.000 We have a whole campus for them now.
00:13:14.000 We have ministries, the basic ministries like men's ministry and women's ministry.
00:13:20.000 We have a ministry up in Colorado City where the infamous Warren Jeffs, you know, false prophets decimated a city there.
00:13:27.000 Well, that city is being revived now.
00:13:28.000 It's coming back because of the gospel there.
00:13:32.000 So really, you can get trained in the basic ministries of the church, but there's new ideas and new ways to reach your city that some people have never thought about before.
00:13:43.000 I'm going to just list off some of the speakers, obviously.
00:13:46.000 Luke Barnett, I'll be there.
00:13:47.000 Jensen Franklin, Jack Gibbs is coming, which we're excited about.
00:13:49.000 Tommy Barnett, John Amanchukwu.
00:13:52.000 We have Riley Gaines attending.
00:13:54.000 Jürgen, Seth Gruber, Frank Turek, and Angel, and many more soon to be announced.
00:13:58.000 So we're looking forward to that.
00:14:00.000 Tpfaith.com.
00:14:01.000 You guys could check it out.
00:14:07.000 Hi, i'm Adriana, a politics major at Hillsdale College.
00:14:11.000 Here's Hillsdale president, dr Larry Arn, with a constitution minute.
00:14:14.000 America's founders recognized an obvious fact of life, human beings differ in terms of physical attributes and talents.
00:14:20.000 Because of this, some people will be better at some things than they are at others.
00:14:24.000 But they also recognize that the tall and the short among us, the swift and the slow among us are still human beings if we are recognizable as human beings and therefore we are equal in terms of the rights that pertain to human beings, rights attached to human nature, rights that come from God.
00:14:40.000 Declaration Of Independence names three of the big ones, life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness.
00:14:45.000 Exercising these rights is necessary if we are to be truly free in our own time.
00:14:50.000 Many influential people believe that only government can decide what our rights should be.
00:14:54.000 This is dangerous.
00:14:55.000 Understanding our rights and how the constitution protects them is vital to our freedom.
00:15:00.000 To learn more and get a free pocket constitution, visit constitutionminute.com.
00:15:07.000 We just had an email here from Deborah.
00:15:09.000 Charlie, this really touched my heart so much because I haven't been able to go to church for almost three years because I'm in a wheelchair.
00:15:14.000 I call churches and they say I can watch online.
00:15:16.000 That is not the same.
00:15:17.000 God bless the Barnetts.
00:15:18.000 Oh, that's awesome.
00:15:19.000 Isn't that beautiful?
00:15:20.000 Yeah.
00:15:21.000 So we'll pick her up if she's lost.
00:15:22.000 I don't know if she's in Phoenix.
00:15:23.000 Maybe she's local.
00:15:24.000 But hey, we actually might be able to connect.
00:15:26.000 I'm going to respond and ask where she is because we have a network of pastors, so maybe we'll be able to find someone that could pick her up.
00:15:31.000 Everyone deserves the right to be able to go to church if they want to go to church.
00:15:35.000 I believe that if we can't accomplish that very basic, it's not the same watching it online.
00:15:39.000 That's right.
00:15:40.000 So you have 175 ministries.
00:15:43.000 Either one of you, talk about Freedom Night.
00:15:45.000 This has been a really fun thing we've been doing together.
00:15:48.000 I think we have one.
00:15:48.000 Is it tomorrow?
00:15:49.000 Tomorrow night.
00:15:50.000 Oh, wow.
00:15:50.000 I lose track of time.
00:15:51.000 Special guest.
00:15:52.000 Yeah, that's Miles Rutherford.
00:15:55.000 So, Luke, would you consider that a ministry?
00:15:57.000 It's almost kind of a ministry, but absolutely.
00:15:59.000 Okay, so yeah, talk about that because I think it's a great model.
00:16:01.000 So, was it three years ago that you and I met?
00:16:03.000 Isn't that amazing?
00:16:04.000 We were just coming out of a big event where President Trump came to our church, and I called you and said, This is what's on my heart.
00:16:09.000 And you immediately knew what to do.
00:16:11.000 It was on your heart as well.
00:16:13.000 So, we collaborated, and we launched Freedom Night in America.
00:16:17.000 And every month, the first Wednesday of the month, we have one of the great, outspoken Christian or at least conservative.
00:16:27.000 I think everyone except Dennis Prager has been Christian, if I'm not mistaken.
00:16:30.000 Well, James Lindsay, we had two, but I'd say almost everyone's been Christian.
00:16:33.000 Yeah, but they're speaking to the issues of our day.
00:16:36.000 And what it has done for our church is it's brought into our church, first of all, people that would have never come.
00:16:42.000 And a lot of these people aren't even church-going people, but they have conservative values.
00:16:46.000 And they're like, hey, there's a church here that's standing up for what I believe in.
00:16:50.000 So it's really helped to grow our church.
00:16:52.000 And what it does for our young people is it gives them ammunition to go into their schools, into their communities, and just talk with great relevance about what the subject is and what they're dealing with.
00:17:04.000 Yeah, and do you have a thought on that, Tommy?
00:17:06.000 I'm just saying when I first met you and I heard you, you really touched me because for years we did a lot of what you're talking about.
00:17:16.000 I remember when we were having the Vietnam War and people were calling policemen pigs and everything else.
00:17:24.000 We had what we call Stand Up for America Sunday.
00:17:27.000 Wow.
00:17:27.000 We brought the United States Army Band in.
00:17:30.000 Oh, I love that.
00:17:31.000 We actually recruited people.
00:17:33.000 We had a recruiting right on for the military.
00:17:36.000 And nobody.
00:17:37.000 Now, that's courage.
00:17:38.000 Yes, sir.
00:17:39.000 And people were not even registering people to vote.
00:17:42.000 And we did that.
00:17:43.000 And I think we were the first one in the nation to do that.
00:17:47.000 And I even brought military tanks.
00:17:51.000 Tanks and everything.
00:17:53.000 And the next day, we were on the front page with kids climbing all over the tanks in our church.
00:18:00.000 So we've all another Sunday, we had Policeman Sunday.
00:18:04.000 And we invited all the police to come and dress in their uniforms that day.
00:18:09.000 And we preached on honoring the law of the land.
00:18:12.000 And by the way, I never did get a ticket from that day forward in the city.
00:18:16.000 A speeding ticket.
00:18:17.000 Oh, that's funny.
00:18:19.000 So let's dive into that, and this will be a deeper conversation because Dream City Church, you have 175 ministries.
00:18:26.000 The first thing is Jesus, Jesus, Jesus.
00:18:28.000 And you've done such a great job.
00:18:30.000 And, you know, some people will criticize Dream City, but it falls it flat because you guys do such great work.
00:18:36.000 But they say, why do you guys have to be political?
00:18:39.000 I'm sure you've heard this.
00:18:41.000 Either one of you, I mean, going all the way back to the Vietnam War, that's more courageous than anything we've done together, by the way, bringing up tanks in the midst of the anti-war protests.
00:18:49.000 Luke, start the conversation.
00:18:51.000 How do you begin to respond to that when people level that objection?
00:18:54.000 Micah 6:8 is a very important verse.
00:18:57.000 Micah 6:8 simply says, The Lord asked the question, What should we do I request of you?
00:19:04.000 And the Lord said, I want you to do justly.
00:19:08.000 I want you to love mercy and walk humbly with your God.
00:19:12.000 Three things.
00:19:13.000 That's what he wants of the church today, to do justice.
00:19:18.000 There's only one voice when it comes to justice and fairness in the world today, and that is God and God's Word.
00:19:23.000 So all that we are doing is we are trying to be the thermostat for the culture.
00:19:29.000 The culture is supposed to read the thermostat.
00:19:31.000 So if there's chaos in the culture, it's because the church has set the thermostat way too low.
00:19:36.000 Okay, and so we're saying that we're not going to compromise on the word of God, and the word of God speaks to every issue in our culture today, and we're going to stand on that.
00:19:45.000 Now, if that gets into what some people call political issues, abortion and things like that, that's the culture coming into our domain and taking those issues and making them political.
00:19:55.000 But the word of God speaks to that.
00:19:58.000 At the same time, so if you're carrying a balancing bar, you got justice.
00:20:02.000 If you're all justice, you just are mean.
00:20:05.000 You're not going to have a heart.
00:20:06.000 So you've got to have mercy as well.
00:20:08.000 You have mercy as well, compassion and reaching out.
00:20:12.000 It's hard for our city to criticize our church.
00:20:15.000 You know, that's why I'm saying they look so silly when they do that because of how you go so over the top of how you help your neighbor.
00:20:23.000 Yeah, so it's hard for the city to really criticize our church.
00:20:23.000 Please continue.
00:20:26.000 We had a board meeting last night, and we gave out 1.6 million meals last year as a church.
00:20:32.000 You gave out 1.6 million people.
00:20:33.000 Through our dream center, through our outreach, through a monster.
00:20:36.000 Is that Phoenix and LA?
00:20:38.000 Only Phoenix.
00:20:39.000 1.6.
00:20:40.000 We housed free of charge 900 people throughout the year, housing for them throughout the year.
00:20:46.000 That's just one church.
00:20:48.000 We've rescued over 5,000 young ladies from human sex trafficking and young men now.
00:20:52.000 How many?
00:20:53.000 Over 5,000 since 2013.
00:20:56.000 And that's just here.
00:20:57.000 It's the largest human sex trafficking organization in North America.
00:21:00.000 So I think that if a church can have a balance of mercy and compassion and loving kindness for the community, but also holding to the truth, you know, we're not called to be parakeets just parroting what the world tells us.
00:21:16.000 We're called to speak the truth and stand by the truth and have mercy.
00:21:19.000 Yeah, our God is a God of order as well as love and forgiveness.
00:21:23.000 Tommy.
00:21:24.000 All you have to do is look at the history of the church in America.
00:21:27.000 It was the men of God, the pastors of the church, that set the thermometer.
00:21:33.000 Government leaders came to them, asked for advice.
00:21:37.000 They were the ones.
00:21:38.000 And we today have compromised.
00:21:42.000 Really, we are just like what we're doing is we're not changing.
00:21:46.000 We've always been here, and the world's been here.
00:21:50.000 Now, the world must move like this, but the tendency is for the church to move with it.
00:21:55.000 We're just as far now from it as we were.
00:21:58.000 But it just keeps on moving until there's no standard.
00:22:02.000 What we're doing is saying we haven't changed.
00:22:05.000 We're just going to stay right here for freedom.
00:22:08.000 If you come, this is what we believe in, and we're going to stand for the truth.
00:22:13.000 So I agree.
00:22:15.000 The Bible said we're the head and not the tail.
00:22:18.000 The Bible said that we are to transform our society, not to conform to it, but we are to change it by the renewing of the word of God.
00:22:28.000 So, really, we're really doing what the Bible says, what's supposed to be.
00:22:33.000 And as the church deteriorates, so does society.
00:22:38.000 We've got to stand.
00:22:39.000 And that's what we're trying to do.
00:22:42.000 There's never been a conference like this when it's going to be because we have the church and we have what we need to do is culturally, your part.
00:22:53.000 And we're coming together.
00:22:54.000 And I want to say that the pastor who is really smart is one that brings all of his staff and brings the leaders in his church to this conference because they'll go back and change their world by being here at this conference.
00:23:11.000 We've been doing it 44 years.
00:23:13.000 Talk about some of the wins you've seen in 44 years of this conference.
00:23:17.000 Yeah, well, every year churches are planted in cities all over.
00:23:24.000 Several years ago when we began to share about the Dream Center idea, we had one dream center.
00:23:29.000 Today, over 300 dream centers worldwide.
00:23:32.000 And that's a result of people coming to this conference, getting an idea, getting a dream, and saying, I can do that in my city.
00:23:38.000 So that's a big one right there.
00:23:41.000 So, Tommy, you remember a time where government wasn't as big, and the church was the social safety net.
00:23:48.000 And we could always do more, but I hear 1.5 million meals, 900 people housed.
00:23:53.000 I think that as government has grown, it's given the church, some churches, an excuse not to do their job.
00:23:59.000 Would you agree with that?
00:24:00.000 I would agree to it.
00:24:02.000 And the scripture says, when the foundations be destroyed, what can the righteous do?
00:24:08.000 So what the church has had to do now is to build a society within a society.
00:24:14.000 There was a time that we could send our kids to public school.
00:24:18.000 But when they took Bible reading and prayer out of it, it was a start of where we are right now in the mess that we're in today.
00:24:25.000 So what did we have to do?
00:24:26.000 We had to build Christian schools.
00:24:29.000 Because I can tell you right now that you send a kid to a public school, especially to a college, and it's a 70% chance that when they come back, they'll no longer be the values of the church.
00:24:44.000 And so what do we have to do?
00:24:45.000 We have to build a society.
00:24:47.000 So we have a college in our church today.
00:24:50.000 We have three different schools, and one of them which you are a great part of.
00:24:56.000 And we have to build a society.
00:24:59.000 Now, we cannot live a monastic life.
00:25:04.000 We are of the world, but we don't have to be in the world.
00:25:07.000 But we have a place where young people can come, gymnadias, zims, and places, and they can gather together and be strong and go out now with a strong faith and reach others for the gospel.
00:25:20.000 I love that.
00:25:24.000 Hey, everybody, Charlie Kirk here from the New York Times best-selling author, Eric Metaxas, comes a riveting new film, Letter to the American Church.
00:25:30.000 The film explores the parallels between 1930s Nazi Germany, Mao and Stalin regimes, and the infiltration of cultural Marxism in America today.
00:25:37.000 The church's decision to stay out of politics undermines the very message of the gospel and its power to transform human existence.
00:25:43.000 Metaxas issues an urgent call to the church.
00:25:46.000 Stay silent and abandon the mission of proclaiming liberty or stand up to the forces of evil.
00:25:50.000 Join Eric and me and many others in the film as we explain how America and the church are at the precipice of destruction and the need to wake up and take action.
00:25:58.000 Do not miss this film.
00:26:00.000 Stream it February 8th on Epoch TV as part of Epoch Times.
00:26:03.000 Visit lettertoto the American Church.com.
00:26:06.000 That is lettertotheamericanchurch.com.
00:26:09.000 It's very well produced.
00:26:10.000 It's terrific.
00:26:11.000 It's letter to the American Church.
00:26:13.000 We confront wokeism, we confront critical race theory, and we talk about what you, the believer, can do.
00:26:19.000 Go to lettertotheamericanchurch.com for more information.
00:26:25.000 So Luke, some people are saying there's a growing Christian movement where they say we're not in the world, we're not of the world, we're not of the world, we just happen to be here, and we shouldn't really care about politics, is that it's just divisive, it's Christian nationalist.
00:26:42.000 How should we think about this?
00:26:43.000 Well, I completely disagree.
00:26:45.000 In fact, we have begun a brand new ministry in our church called the Civics Ministry.
00:26:49.000 And we are actively right now, we had 125 people show up night one of the ministry.
00:26:56.000 And we are doing our best to make sure that we get young people informed and middle-aged people running for school offices, school board offices.
00:27:05.000 And we had an elected official winning carefree this past year, a very important position there.
00:27:12.000 So we are doing our best to get our people on the ballots and so that we have righteous people, people who love the Lord leading our city.
00:27:22.000 So we feel completely different about that.
00:27:27.000 The reason why, you know, Paul says in Romans 13 that the rulers should be godly rulers who make their decisions on right and wrong, good and evil, based on the Bible.
00:27:39.000 Yes.
00:27:39.000 Okay, when that doesn't happen, you have chaos because everybody else has their idea of what's fair and just.
00:27:45.000 And when all those ideas collide, you have a nation of chaos.
00:27:49.000 There's only one rule maker, the Bible says, and that's God.
00:27:53.000 And people say, well, that's unrealistic to think that we could ever go back to that.
00:27:56.000 But we're going to try.
00:27:57.000 We're going to do our best to get the right people in these positions to lead our state.
00:28:02.000 And some people will say, but it will torpedo our church that people will stop coming and stop attending.
00:28:07.000 Have you found that to be true, either of you?
00:28:10.000 Well, you know, when we took this stand, and by the way, when you came to our church and began to speak into our church, it changed the city.
00:28:18.000 Well, thank you.
00:28:19.000 Our schools today are changed because you stood up at the night of freedom and say, go to the school board, stand up and be kind.
00:28:29.000 That's what we talked about.
00:28:30.000 And by the way, you, Merit, that's so good.
00:28:33.000 You're strong, but you're generous and kind to people.
00:28:37.000 I try.
00:28:37.000 It's not me.
00:28:38.000 It's the Holy Spirit.
00:28:39.000 I know it is.
00:28:40.000 But I appreciate that with all of our heart.
00:28:43.000 And so we've got to take that stand.
00:28:46.000 We've got to do it.
00:28:48.000 But I've often said people may dislike us because of our position, but they never should dislike us because of our disposition.
00:28:57.000 We can speak the truth in love, but let's speak the truth.
00:29:02.000 And it has not drawn people away from our church.
00:29:06.000 We are in the greatest growth in our church in 44 years.
00:29:11.000 We're reaching people that before we could never reach.
00:29:15.000 You know, it's easier to reach the poor than it is to reach the affluent people.
00:29:21.000 That's so interesting.
00:29:22.000 Yeah, tell me why.
00:29:23.000 The Bible says the poor you have always with you because they have needs.
00:29:28.000 Yes.
00:29:28.000 And they want help, and they're reaching out.
00:29:30.000 That's fascinating.
00:29:30.000 The rich many times think, well, as the scripture said, they said, I have need of nothing.
00:29:37.000 And there's never been a revival in a nation that was prosperous.
00:29:41.000 It's always been a revival came when they were in poverty or war or famine, but never when they were prospering.
00:29:51.000 And it's said, I wonder if what's going to take to bring America back to its knees and back to God.
00:29:58.000 That is the truth that people don't always want to hear, is that it might require a lot more suffering before we get on our knees.
00:30:04.000 I'm going to read this.
00:30:05.000 I texted this to you this morning.
00:30:07.000 One of our listeners said, Charlie, my son and I recently visited Dream City Church for the first time.
00:30:12.000 I had tears spilling down my face through the entire service.
00:30:16.000 I just want you to know that your interaction with this place found me a new home to worship our God and be with other like-minded patriots.
00:30:22.000 It's not political, but it's founded in truth.
00:30:24.000 I saw all races and economical and social barriers broken.
00:30:28.000 It's beautiful what you guys have created.
00:30:30.000 That's heaven, right?
00:30:31.000 That's what heaven's going to be like.
00:30:33.000 Non-stop worship party.
00:30:35.000 With different people from different backgrounds all worshiping together.
00:30:38.000 Let me just say this.
00:30:39.000 I have found that it's had the opposite effect in our church when we simply held our word in 2020 and Trump came out.
00:30:50.000 Tell that story, but I could tell it from my perspective.
00:30:52.000 Well, my perspective is we had just met a few weeks earlier, and your organization leased out our facility.
00:31:01.000 And you said, oh, by the way, President Trump is coming.
00:31:04.000 This is in the midst of COVID.
00:31:05.000 In the midst of COVID.
00:31:06.000 It's at the heart of COVID.
00:31:07.000 Not only that, but the summer of love.
00:31:08.000 Yep.
00:31:09.000 A lot of protesters, a lot of people.
00:31:12.000 Tension was high.
00:31:14.000 Yes.
00:31:14.000 And so you expected me to say, nah, we're not going to do it.
00:31:18.000 I got a phone call from Angel, and I was with my team, and I was so used to a pattern of behavior.
00:31:23.000 I said, I said, I bet they're canceling.
00:31:26.000 I showed up the caller ID.
00:31:27.000 I said, here's the cancellation phone call.
00:31:30.000 And Angel was like, we're so excited.
00:31:33.000 Yeah, well, let me tell you something.
00:31:35.000 The best way to get me to really stand up is to try to bully me.
00:31:39.000 I cannot stand bullies.
00:31:40.000 So I just said, we're not going to be bullied out.
00:31:42.000 I was getting all kinds of hate mail and stuff.
00:31:45.000 So we went through with that.
00:31:46.000 We just kept our word.
00:31:47.000 You know, my dad's raised us to be people of our word, so we're not going to participate in cancel culture.
00:31:53.000 So that happened.
00:31:54.000 And then we were still kind of closed down.
00:31:57.000 After the event, a lot of our stuff got COVID.
00:32:01.000 But they got better.
00:32:02.000 Natural antibodies.
00:32:03.000 Exactly.
00:32:04.000 So we closed down for a couple weeks.
00:32:07.000 When we came back, that's when I called you and said, we're going to do this.
00:32:11.000 We're going to have Freedom Night in America.
00:32:13.000 We collaborated.
00:32:14.000 So we communicated to our church.
00:32:16.000 And what we found was, yeah, there were some carnal people who just said, I don't want to be a part of this, and they left.
00:32:24.000 But they were not influencers in the church.
00:32:26.000 And they were just people who just, you know, they just want to kind of dip their toe in the gospel.
00:32:31.000 And but what we found, Charlie, was that there were people who were movers and shakers in our city who were not yet Christians, but they appreciated the stand that we took and that we wouldn't compromise and just be canceled.
00:32:44.000 So they began to come to our church and we just saw everything explode overnight at our church.
00:32:53.000 Right now we're building three buildings at the same time, you know, at three different campuses.
00:32:57.000 Wow.
00:32:58.000 And we couldn't have done that prior to COVID.
00:33:01.000 It only happened because of our strong stand.
00:33:03.000 And people want a church that will stand for something, that will stand for what's right.
00:33:08.000 And so we've gotten strong, patriotic people in the church.
00:33:12.000 And yet, you just read the email.
00:33:13.000 It's a multicultural church.
00:33:15.000 Black, white, red, yellow.
00:33:18.000 And people who have multi-millionaires sitting next to people who are still trying to get off the streets of their dream center.
00:33:25.000 Like I said, it's what heaven's going to look like.
00:33:27.000 Amen.
00:33:28.000 And please, Tommy.
00:33:29.000 Let me tell you what he did.
00:33:31.000 Luke actually stood up and punched the bully in the nose, bloodied his nose.
00:33:37.000 And you know what?
00:33:38.000 When you do that, he goes away.
00:33:41.000 Since that time, we've had nothing but peace.
00:33:44.000 Wow.
00:33:44.000 And it's wonderful to be able to stand up and preach the truth and not worry about losing people.
00:33:51.000 Because we're bigger, we're stronger, healthier than we've ever been in our life.
00:33:58.000 And right now, I want to say this to you, Charlie.
00:34:01.000 I was watching television the other day, and they were discussing the power in the Republican Party.
00:34:07.000 And they pointed out that the strongest, one of the strongest voices, the strongest, was probably Charlie Kirk.
00:34:14.000 Oh, boy.
00:34:15.000 And I tell you, we appreciate you so much.
00:34:17.000 Thank you.
00:34:18.000 You're really changing our city and our nation.
00:34:21.000 And we're behind you, and we're praying for you, too, every day, because the higher you go, the lonelier it is.
00:34:29.000 The higher you go, the colder it is.
00:34:31.000 The higher you go, the more criticism you get.
00:34:34.000 That's why you need our prayers.
00:34:36.000 But look, stand strong.
00:34:38.000 Thank you.
00:34:39.000 Because God's using you greatly.
00:34:41.000 And my dad always told me that he doesn't want anyone praying for him who won't fight for him.
00:34:46.000 So we're praying for you and we'll fight for you.
00:34:48.000 That's very touching.
00:34:50.000 You're right.
00:34:51.000 The higher you go, it's also sometimes harder to breathe.
00:34:54.000 So, you know, you never need.
00:34:56.000 So let me ask you guys here, and by the way, thank you for that.
00:35:00.000 That really touches me.
00:35:01.000 I want to spend our time remaining for some people in the audience that don't yet know the Lord.
00:35:06.000 And just let's talk about that.
00:35:09.000 You know, who is Jesus Christ?
00:35:10.000 Amen.
00:35:12.000 Well, Jesus Christ is everything to me.
00:35:14.000 I mean, he is the one person that changed my life, that gave me hope, that gave me vision for my future.
00:35:23.000 And, you know, knowing Jesus Christ, it is not a religion.
00:35:28.000 Religion is so boring.
00:35:29.000 Religion enslaves people.
00:35:32.000 Religion is really no fun.
00:35:35.000 It's relationship with the Lord, relationship with Jesus.
00:35:38.000 And when you meet him, when you experience his love, when you experience his forgiveness, and then you get a hold of his purpose for your future, it truly is a game changer.
00:35:50.000 And, you know, knowing Jesus is very simple.
00:35:53.000 He did all the work on the cross.
00:35:55.000 You know, the work has already been done.
00:35:58.000 That's the big difference in religion and Christianity.
00:36:02.000 All the other religions of the world have a do factor.
00:36:05.000 You got to do, do, do, do.
00:36:06.000 And still, you never know if you've done enough.
00:36:09.000 So you live with uncertainty in life.
00:36:11.000 With Christianity, of course, the work has been done by Jesus on the cross.
00:36:15.000 We put our faith and confidence in him.
00:36:17.000 Apart from our works, we gain salvation.
00:36:20.000 Apart from our works, it's all through the grace of God.
00:36:23.000 And honestly, just knowing Jesus is as simple as understanding that we are flawed, we are sinful.
00:36:32.000 We can never, ever forgive, be forgiven of our sins on our own.
00:36:36.000 We can't work at it.
00:36:38.000 It's only through the grace and the blood of Jesus Christ that was shed on the cross.
00:36:42.000 And knowing him is as simple as acknowledging that, that I'm flawed, I messed up, but there is one who loves me, and the currency of his blood can pay for my sins.
00:36:54.000 So when someone comes to that realization and comes to the end of themselves, and they ask for Jesus Christ and his work on the cross to forgive and atone for their sins, it's a new day.
00:37:06.000 Apostle Paul said the old goes away, the new comes.
00:37:09.000 It's a brand new day.
00:37:10.000 So I would hope that anyone who's listening would make that decision today because it truly is the most important, life-changing decision of your entire life.
00:37:22.000 And, you know, it's so simple.
00:37:24.000 The Bible said, if we will confess our sins, just say, I'm a sinner.
00:37:29.000 I've failed.
00:37:30.000 I need you, God.
00:37:32.000 Forgive me.
00:37:33.000 That he's faithful and just forgive.
00:37:36.000 And if somebody's watching this program today, I'd encourage them just to bow their head and say, Lord, I've sinned.
00:37:42.000 I'm a sinner.
00:37:43.000 Today I give my life to you.
00:37:45.000 It's that simple.
00:37:47.000 It costs a lot.
00:37:49.000 Luke said it.
00:37:50.000 It costs his death.
00:37:51.000 The work has been done.
00:37:53.000 It's yours by just acknowledging that Jesus died on the cross, rose from the dead, and he's alive.
00:38:01.000 And you accept him as your Savior.
00:38:03.000 And it's amen.
00:38:04.000 Thank you guys both for everything.
00:38:06.000 And God bless you.
00:38:08.000 And everyone who wants to check it out, tpfaith.com.
00:38:11.000 Final thoughts or plugs for Dream Conference.
00:38:13.000 Yeah, please come.
00:38:14.000 Please bring your team and come with great expectation.
00:38:18.000 The final night of the conference, we go on the side of the mountain on Prayer Mountain, and we write down our dreams on pieces of paper and we drop them at the prayer pavilion.
00:38:26.000 And all year long, our prayer team prays for your dreams all throughout the year.
00:38:31.000 And so many dreams have been ignited.
00:38:32.000 Jurgen Metesius had a dream for five campuses.
00:38:36.000 On the side of the mountain, God gave him a dream for 12 campuses, and they have, I think, 10 today.
00:38:40.000 So it's a place where dreams are ignited.
00:38:43.000 Well, God bless you both.
00:38:43.000 Yes, really quick.
00:38:44.000 People like Jensen Franklin.
00:38:45.000 Yes.
00:38:46.000 He was just a beginner starting, and he attributes the great church that he has to the conference.
00:38:52.000 And that story is told over and over again.
00:38:54.000 Love it.
00:38:55.000 God bless you both, guys.
00:38:56.000 You too.
00:38:56.000 Thanks so much for listening.
