Summary

In this episode of the podcast, I sit down with my good friend and long time supporter, John, to talk about his involvement with the "Big 4" event in 2019 in Ottawa, Canada, and what it's like to be a part of a convoy. We talk about the importance of being involved in a " convoy" and how it can be used as a tool to spread the word about a cause or cause cause and how important it is to be involved in one.

00:00:00.000 so i was part of organizing a bit of a convoy to sylvan lake the other day from red deer to
00:00:08.960 sylvan lake we had 50 vehicles show up 50 okay and uh it was a bit of a gong show i kind of got
00:00:18.040 lost you can go watch the youtube video but they're planning another one okay so it's going
00:00:23.600 to be february 28th from gasoline alley the cineplex uh parking lot right by costco at 10 a.m and then
00:00:32.560 they're going to drive to calgary and they're going to disembark when they get to their around the zoo
00:00:37.260 area but they're going to go right down deer foot and then turn and then everybody's going to kind
00:00:41.700 of spread out presumably at that point go their own way i like it i'm all for it we were covet brought
00:00:48.580 out a lot of um a lot of big feelings in us john and uh and we watched the live streams of the of
00:00:55.900 the convoy in in 2022 in ottawa from basically from day one and and watching watching the live streams
00:01:03.420 from a few key streamers and seeing what things were truly like on the ground there and then
00:01:09.140 contrasting that with how the the news media was reporting it how the corporate press was recording
00:01:14.720 it and you can see instantly like it's just there's not even a so i have a i have a very small
00:01:22.600 philosophy book on that back shelf there and it's called on bullshit and it's a real philosophy book
00:01:28.120 by a real philosopher and his his central thesis on what bullshit is from a philosophical standpoint is
00:01:35.000 that if you're lying to somebody like bullshit is different from lies because if you're lying to
00:01:40.020 somebody you're actively trying to conceal the truth from them so you know what the truth is
00:01:44.700 and you're presenting an opposite to that and bullshit just doesn't even have any regard whatsoever
00:01:49.860 for the truth it's just sound it's noise and so to to witness the amount of bullshit that was thrown
00:01:56.520 out by the news media about what was actually happening there they weren't even trying to lie
00:02:00.420 about it they were just they were just throwing noise out to try and confuse and distract from the
00:02:05.400 from the real messaging of the event and so seeing that um yeah man i'm i i wish them the best
00:02:13.260 because that's that showed how actually easy it is to get people behind a cause and how angry it makes
00:02:21.060 people who are trying to distract and distort what that cause really is yeah and i love the visual
00:02:28.640 of a convoy um first of all the amount of traffic that goes by like it's you have a couple things you
00:02:37.040 have the visibility to people so it sparks conversation you have on photos it's hard to
00:02:43.720 lie about they'll still lie about numbers it'll be like a dozen vehicles showed up and you're like
00:02:48.060 see if you can connect with somebody with a drone that would maybe be i got one this guy okay perfect yeah
00:02:56.040 but just from a standpoint of like when we do these things and this is why like we wanted to go to the
00:03:04.660 big four event in calgary and we filmed it and we wanted to like capture it and also we're realizing that
00:03:12.080 there's going to be so much out there downplaying either the size of the movement um either misrepresenting
00:03:20.700 speeches or trying to paint a message in a certain way um and this is where individuals obviously like
00:03:28.480 collecting signatures is one thing but if you go to an event and you have photos and video and you
00:03:36.000 participate in that anybody can add to the like they're helping to correct some of the noise by
00:03:44.080 providing evidence it's hard to say like oh this convoy only had 12 vehicles when you have
00:03:50.880 however many dozens of independent people with either footage or photos or like you can't argue with that
00:04:14.080 you
