00:00:00.000 Well, first of all, in the Alberta Transition Council, you know, as Dennis noted, my co-lead, it's only one piece of the puzzle.
00:00:10.900 You know, we all know many people that have said, well, what's the monetary policy going to be?
00:00:16.240 What kind of trade agreements are you going to have?
00:00:18.140 How are you going to provide for continuity of air service?
00:00:20.440 And these are all absolutely proper questions.
00:00:22.540 and uh you know i'm a trade unionist am i still is my is my red seal uh certificate still going
00:00:29.400 to be recognized in saskatchewan or can i go on a shutdown in bc so we need to have all those
00:00:36.220 answers for those questions so that's the purpose of the alberta transition council
00:00:41.280 dennis and i have a joke when we summarize what the alberta transition
00:00:45.400 council's about it's about a bunch of old smart people just figuring out how to make it work
00:00:54.540 right no drama just very mechanical but there's an element that we have to reach that's interested
00:01:02.420 in that but let me give you an example the polling that Ezra Levant had recently had done
00:01:08.300 suggested that a lot of people who are on the fence actually didn't want those details that
00:01:14.500 completely threw me but then someone pointed out to me and it caused me to understand what they
00:01:19.260 meant so years ago FedEx did a new ad campaign on television where their commercial showed your
00:01:27.500 package being dropped off at a FedEx store following it on the truck to a sort center on
00:01:33.100 conveyors up a thing and 15 guys handling it and then onto an airplane through another sort center
00:01:38.380 and blah blah blah you know and it's it's my mom's ashes i'm sending them to my brother you know and
00:01:45.500 it's like their sales dropped by 12 overnight so they abandoned the ad campaign and they replaced
00:01:52.780 it with an ad that said we'll get your parcel where it needs to be in 24 hours in other words
00:01:58.200 people don't necessarily want to know as dennis was discussing how the sausage is made on an issue
00:02:05.500 like this there are people that want to know that and you need to show them so the person who doesn't
00:02:11.940 want to know who wants to know if their package is going to get there in 24 hours trust the guy
00:02:16.940 who looked at the system said don't worry it's going to be okay so there's that part of it um
00:02:22.440 we have to use emotion too i can imagine many different types of ads and things that we can
00:02:29.080 do because the reality is Ottawa's causing hardship they're doing some bad stuff and
00:02:37.200 you know I don't see it as my role given that whatever that is to be the emotional person
00:02:46.660 I'm trying to show and have been for the last year that there's a this is a sensible proposition
00:02:53.480 there's a legal pathway and it makes a lot of sense but that i fully support we're gonna have
00:02:59.540 to use all the tools and it is an emotional thing you know our kids are being held back
00:03:07.440 it's real cost of living you know all the things i talk about so no we absolutely the different
00:03:13.560 groups will have to to tell the emotional story as well just i just want to refer we have a lady 1.00
00:03:20.720 here, Tamara Leach. I feel emotional
00:03:22.860 having her here, a hero
00:03:24.580 of Canadians.
00:03:32.000 And I was just going to add, you can
00:03:34.160 use emotion, and I think it's important,
00:03:37.040 but also confidence
00:03:38.100 trumps fear. Tamara Leach
00:03:40.960 we're just talking about, she's a little lady, 1.00
00:03:42.780 but she's damn confident. So I think 0.94
00:03:44.640 that's what we need too, is we need to be
00:03:46.680 confident in what we're talking about, confident
00:03:48.580 and what we're advocating for because the fear will go away.
00:03:53.740 And to me, listening to a former premier of the province of Alberta
00:03:58.900 use fear is embarrassing to me.
00:04:02.880 And I think we should call it out for that.
00:04:05.320 He was governing the province and now the only response he has
00:04:09.660 is to invoke fear on his citizens.
00:04:13.280 We should be able to laugh at that, confidently laugh at that.
00:04:18.580 And this is for people that don't want to know how the sausage is made.
00:04:24.000 How I've explained it to a few people is we have kind of incompetent government now with Ottawa
00:04:32.040 and we could have possibly incompetent government in Alberta or better government in Alberta.
00:04:38.780 So perhaps let's take that chance.
00:04:40.620 Very easy answer.
00:04:48.580 Thank you.
