00:00:00.000 When did you realize that Alberta would be better off as an independent country?
00:00:08.720 I've always considered myself an Albertan before Canadian. That does not mean I've always been a
00:00:16.120 separatist. Is that the word we're using tonight?
00:00:19.500 I feel like independent supporter. I've been leaning towards that.
00:00:22.760 Independent supporter?
00:00:23.300 We've used a sovereigntist before that has just kind of more sophisticated connotation.
00:00:28.140 But it's really probably the last two years that really made me think if the people of Alberta choose
00:00:34.520 to stay in Canada, there will be no solutions to the problems we have. In fact, I believe things
00:00:40.640 are going to get worse if we stay in Canada. We've got the federal government pushing in there,
00:00:44.980 increased censorship. We've got the RCMP changing a rule that makes legal gun owners now criminals.
00:00:53.520 I made a list of questions. I put this on my sub stack and it was questions to ask over
00:01:00.080 Thanksgiving a month ago. Just if the conversation gets dull, just ask your Canadian supporter friend
00:01:07.880 these questions. And the first one was, do you support having your vote in Alberta be worth only
00:01:15.300 66% of what a vote in the Maritimes is worth? I asked, what do you think about Senate? Your vote,
00:01:23.780 your Senate seat here in Alberta is worth less than a Senate seat in Ontario, Quebec, or the Maritimes.
00:01:33.620 What about the Supreme Court? There are three Supreme Court justices from Ontario, three from Quebec,
00:01:39.860 and then three spread out the rest of the country. So do you have any pride, any dignity in your heart
00:01:47.220 to stand up for yourself and say, hey, at a bare minimum, my vote, my say should be equal to everyone
00:01:54.200 across this country. And right now it's not. And I don't believe there's a way to change that.
00:02:02.140 There's no benefit to the people of Ontario or Quebec or the Maritimes to give up any of the power
00:02:08.260 they have so we can take what's equally ours. The biggest problem we have right now for the
00:02:15.280 independence movement is that things are okay. Things are okay. You know, I can go to the grocery
00:02:21.500 store. I can get financing for the new car. I might not be able to afford a house, but you know, I'm sure
00:02:28.440 Carney will fix that in the future. Things are okay. And I look into the future and I think things are not
00:02:35.500 going to be okay. Every day we go farther down the same path, things are steadily going to get worse
00:02:42.000 and worse. I said, I've got, I've got eight kids. Well, for my sons to look at getting a good enough
00:02:47.980 job that they can afford to save a down payment so they can have a house by the time they're 40 is just
00:02:53.720 about impossible. And that's the same for millions of people across this country. And unless someone has
00:03:03.160 the courage to stand up and say, we need to change some of these things so that we can all have a
00:03:08.220 better future, things are just going to get worse. We have to choose either to have the courage to change
00:03:14.680 or just sit back home and watch Netflix until the end of the world. And I'm not comfortable sitting
00:03:21.360 back and watching Netflix. I've, I've got a lot of invested in my family, in my province, and we have to
00:03:29.580 act like the future is important to us. We actually have to care about the future. So we act on it.
