Wasted cash for your safety? Yes. The Arrive Can app scandal, the gun freeze, and higher inflation. All that and more from The Krusty Canuck Podcast! Stay tuned. I do swear and I smoke cigarettes.
00:01:08.82054 million bucks it cost to produce this app to tell people what to do, when to do it, and how to do it.
00:01:14.100All in the name of the whole cold beer bug that we've all experienced the past two and a half years.
00:01:18.880All in the name of the Krusty Canuck podcast, I'll have links in my description, all that good stuff for you to follow in regards to where I got my information based on this week's episode.
00:01:28.040Needless to say, it is just a real poop show.
00:01:30.800It cost a Canadian taxpayer $54 million to put an app that you had to download on your phone every time you left the country or entered the country.
00:01:41.800Just for the sake of your safety and your whereabouts.
00:01:44.680Now, in the links I'll be sending, discussing, there were a few companies that were hired to put this program together.
00:01:54.520GC Strategies, I believe, is one of them.
00:01:59.620What I read in the article here, it basically says that they were consulted and they have five employees and they were given something like $1.2 million.
00:02:10.100Anyhow, to make a long story short, I'll read along here too.
00:02:15.200So, according to the report from the Global Mail, Conservative and Bloc Québécois, NDP members of Parliament can launch and committee and investigate in the Liberal government's $54 million spending on the Arrive Can app.
00:02:26.480As the opposition parties have majority votes to proceed, Ottawa built the now optional Arrive Can app so that travellers could submit their vaccination status and other mandatory health information online before crossing the Canadian borders.
00:03:38.460Both GC Strategies and government have refused to identify any of these subcontractors, arguing that their identities constitute confidential third-party information.
00:03:49.700Conservative MP Kelly McCauley on Wednesday served formal notice as a motion urging the Government Operations Committee to launch his study into the Rive Can's cost.
00:04:02.50075 subcontractors getting a piece of the pie of your money and my money?
00:04:08.080McCauley's motion proposes a minimum of six days of hearings and a witness list that includes Public Safety Minister Marco Medicino, the wanker,
00:04:15.840Health Minister Jean-Live Duclos, the gangster, and the other Cabinet Ministers, has also urged the Operations Committee to hear from several tech leaders who have spoken out about the app's cost.
00:04:30.120Many of Canada's top tech companies were outraged when they learned that the government paid $54 million to develop, deploy, and maintain the Rive Can app.
00:04:37.920Two companies held in internal hackathons to replicate the Rive Can and demonstrate that it should not have cost the Canadian taxpayers $54 million.
00:04:46.140Laser Technologies built an Rive Can clone over the Thanksgiving weekend, as did Toronto-based Tribal Scale.
00:04:52.320Now, apparently, those two companies put it together, and it would have cost the Canadian taxpayer $250,000.
00:04:59.940$250,000, ladies and gentlemen, not $54 million.
00:05:03.860This is an absolute waste of taxpayers' money with absolutely no oversight, no accountability, and no sense of caring from the government that this money could have been used better elsewhere.
00:05:11.640Of course, we all can agree with that, but this is not a government of common sense, remember?
00:05:16.600Also, McCauley said in the statement Wednesday, a Conservative MP also wants the Operations Committee to obtain and examine contracts and other documents pertaining to the Rive Can app.
00:05:26.100McCauley's motion could be put to a committee vote as soon as Monday.
00:05:29.780Of course, Liberal MP Anthony Housefather, a member of the Operations Committee, said he would review the motion before deciding how he will vote.
00:05:35.840Housefather believes that there has been a lot of misunderstanding regarding a Rive Can's price.
00:05:40.520Now, he also swore, too, that it saved thousands of lives, this app, monitoring your whereabouts to and from, entering the country, leaving the country, et cetera, et cetera, which is a joke.
00:06:37.120How many people were actually fined $6,500 for not using it?
00:06:40.580Now, if you go to Rebel Media, the fine people there will probably show you a story or two or a few on exactly what was done to people who didn't use the Rivecam app.
00:06:50.100There were a few individuals that received fines for $6,500 for not sharing that information.
00:06:57.780Now, when someone says we're doing this for your safety or we're doing this for your benefit to help people, to help you, to help this, to help that, and threaten you with a fine, I don't think it's a real safety tool.

00:08:03.380I do swear on this show, so you have sensitive ears, please don't listen.
00:08:08.860Now, my logic is this when it comes to the Rive Cam.
00:08:10.940I had no intentions of ever downloading, mind you, though, too, during the pandemic.
00:08:15.220I was too damn busy trying to find work, and then when I did find work, I didn't have any time to really go and travel anywhere.
00:08:21.320But there were friends of mine who have, and there were friends of mine who were scared to even download it because they were afraid of government tracking.
00:08:28.500And you can sit there all you want, and you can tell people, oh, you're just a conspiracy theorist, or you're just this, or you're just that.
00:08:34.660You know, but when I listen to these clowns talk about how it was important to have this application, how it was important to use it, my logic is this, and this is my rebuttal to them.
00:08:50.980And then some, with a few mild cuss words to back up my claim.
00:08:54.820But I think you see my point, ladies and gentlemen.
00:08:56.860So it's safe to assume that the Liberals have proved yet, once again, that they spent $54 million on an application that was divvied out between 75 other contractors, 75 other groups of interest.
00:09:10.920So 75 other groups to put something together.
00:09:14.460When I also read in this article, too, and I'll put my description, that two individuals over Thanksgiving weekend developed the same or cloned it, basically made the same facsimile on the smarts and the know-how they have for a fraction of the cost.
00:09:41.520And there are people who have said, yeah, anytime you put any kind of government thing on your laptop or your phone or your truck or your car or anything at all, someone is tracking you.
00:09:52.200There's probably somebody tracking me right now, speaking my mind, getting all hot and bothered because I'm promoting disinformation or misinformation.

00:10:17.200And once again, ladies and gentlemen, looking to hear what you see, please click like and subscribe and share this content all over your social media platforms.
00:10:26.540Help a young podcaster such as myself get the words out there so you, the audience, can decide and listen for yourselves and share this out.
00:10:33.360I would like to make this a full-time commitment, ladies and gentlemen.
00:10:35.840In a perfect world, I would like to make my podcasting a full-time commitment.
00:10:39.700But I need people like you out there to make it happen.
00:11:30.740The other video I'm looking for is not available at the moment.
00:11:32.980But I'll put a video up in a bit in regards to the banter that's been going in the House of Commons in regards to the wasted money and the inflation that we've all been witnessing the past six months.
00:11:45.080Now, I did an episode there last year in regards to hyperinflation.
00:11:49.940I don't have any tidbits or any clips of that, but it's in my library on YouTube and on Podbean.
00:11:55.120And you can check that out for yourselves, ladies and gentlemen, where there's projection where people were saying it's not going to happen.
00:12:01.520You know, we're borrowing money, so you don't have to borrow money.
00:12:04.020We're paying the debt, so you don't have to pay the debt.
00:12:05.760And it's like, well, how do Canadians pay the national debt?
00:12:23.140Now, I know for a fact, too, that the past 20 years, middle-class workers, anyone who's making anywhere from $30,000 to $65,000 or more, okay, a year, pays a hell of a lot of taxes.
00:12:37.440When you look at middle-class people, people that the majority of us Canucks are, people that work for a living, whether they have a mild career or a great career, or people that work in a factory, or people that work on a farm, or people that work in the trades.
00:12:51.340Yours truly works on a beef operation.
00:12:54.060So, yeah, I'm go, go, go all the time.
00:13:06.560But recently, I've received some, not really threatening letters, but some letters from the CRA stating, I didn't file here, didn't file there, or you'll pay a fine.
00:15:27.000Now, I've had some lengthy debates with some people on Twitter and in other pages discussing the whole pros and cons of the taxation system and the parliamentary democracy.
00:15:41.880Now, all the NDP aficionados out there and all the liberal aficionados out there and some of you conservatives aficionados out there, too, talking about how taxes are certain for this and taxes are important here and taxes are important there.
00:17:14.860But, see, when it comes to taxes, I'm getting sick of it.
00:17:17.020And I don't care how you feel about roads, about schools, about this or that, because we're looking at our school system.
00:17:23.340There are kids having trouble reading.
00:17:25.200And they're putting more emphasis on worrying about kids' sexual identity rather than the actual identity as being a young, able-bodied human being to get out and enjoy life as we see it.
00:28:03.620But the world's not going to die because of cow farts.
00:28:05.560And the world's not going to die because of hamburger meat.
00:28:10.960The world's not going to die because you want to put gasoline in your car or diesel in your truck or any kind of fuel to keep your home warm during the winter months.
00:28:18.960The world's going to die because we're going to have buffoons calling the shots in Ottawa, Washington, D.C., London, Berlin, Paris, and Switzerland.
00:29:33.380And, you know, they have every right to.
00:29:35.460But when I look at the leadership in this country, they have ignored the basic principles of our democracy.
00:29:39.880And they keep talking about democracy.
00:29:41.840They keep talking about the principles of freedom.
00:29:44.360And yet, what kind of freedom have they promoted for you and I?
00:29:47.600It doesn't matter if they live in Ontario or Quebec or New Brunswick, Nova Scotia, PEI, here in Alberta, Saskatchewan, Manitoba, BC, Nunavut, Northwest Territories, Yukon.

00:31:28.040And we welcome back to the podcast, ladies and gentlemen, your host, Krusty Canuck.
00:31:31.160And like I say, if you like and hear what you see, please click like, subscribe, and share this content all around your social media platforms.
00:31:37.920Tell your friends, tell their friends, and so on, and so on, and so on.
00:31:42.140Word of mouth, probably the best way, too.
00:31:44.440Like I mentioned earlier in regards to seeing the UBI thing on a lot of Facebook feeds there, too.
00:31:50.260And I'm seeing more and more socialist pages come up into the news feed, into the mix, right?
00:31:56.380Because you know how the social media likes to manipulate people.
00:31:58.340There's constantly young girls, and they're trying to validate themselves by wearing short shorts and trying to find the perfect fella when really just selling themselves short for the sake of sex.
00:32:10.180I'm just trying to make a point, okay?
00:32:12.060And we're seeing more and more of this garbage in our feeds.
00:32:14.420Now, you as a viewer have the responsibility to either watch it and read it and go, oh, informative, or turn the page and say, fuck that, right?
00:32:23.500We've got to see more and more of that, especially when it comes to this UBI BS and this socialism garbage, okay?
00:32:30.480Now, if there's 10 people lost in the woods, socialism could work.
00:37:48.280I was worried about precisely the issue, Greg, that you've touched on.
00:37:55.460I was worried about the losses that Canada was facing every day.
00:38:00.800But even more, I was worried about the potential damage those blockades could do to Canada's reputation as a reliable trading partner, as a reliable place to invest.
00:38:16.540And frankly, I was worried about the way that had the blockades not been stopped, they could have contributed to the arguments of protectionists south of our border.
00:38:31.940And that is one of the reasons that, as finance minister, I was firmly of the view that the government needed to act, that it was a national security threat to Canada, a threat to the economic lifeblood of our country for that to go on.
00:38:59.400And I do think the fact that we acted decisively, that our action worked, shows to our trading partners that you can rely on Canada.
00:42:13.520I highly recommend you watch the Dave Rubin show there, too.
00:42:17.120He's a lefty that turned, how do you say, awakened, you know?
00:42:22.400I guess he's more libertarian, if anything, too.
00:42:24.640Yours truly is a bit more libertarian than conservative.
00:42:27.540A little more liberal than conservative.
00:42:29.280But I need to say, when it comes to politics, I want people to have freedom, and I want people to choose and think for themselves, you know, in a timely fashion.
00:43:41.100Do what we can to help each other out in these trying times.
00:43:43.620I know it's been tough, and I'm a little angrier today because of some of the buffoonery I've seen on the news in regards to the Emergency Measures Act.
00:43:49.820The gun debacle, of course, the Rive Can app.
00:43:52.300A lot of money wasted on one application in the name of control, not in the name of safety.
00:43:57.480But in the meantime, ladies and gentlemen, do what you can to help each other out in these trying times.
00:44:00.280And maybe give a little of your extra time, a little effort to people if you can.
00:44:06.820We're at that part of the year where there might be some snow falling in parts of this country.
00:44:10.840So don't hesitate to help somebody else with some snow removal.
00:44:14.420Maybe a few extra bucks for groceries to help someone out.
00:44:17.660And just do what you can to be good to people.
