00:00:06.280 remembrance day yes come on the podcast this episode 192 remembering awakening and standing
00:00:12.860 my take on remembrance day and the politics that have been plaguing us as of recent all that more
00:00:20.580 the show please stick around listener and viewer discretion is advised i do smoke cigarettes and
00:00:26.080 say a lot of bad words please stick around
00:00:29.960 hit it sweetheart because i am hard you will not like me
00:00:39.600 there is no racial bigotry here
00:00:45.600 from western canada this is the crusty
00:00:55.540 canuck podcast a canadian veteran's point of view on political social economic issues and life
00:01:02.740 here's crusty
00:01:04.140 that's right ladies and gentlemen welcome to episode 192 crusty canuck podcast
00:01:09.480 remembering awakening and standing how i remember how i have been awoken or awakening and how i'm
00:01:18.220 still standing that's right ladies and gentlemen i'm your host crusty canuck on this beautiful 12th
00:01:23.920 of november 2022 now this is not an episode where i'm just going to sit and rant and rave as always
00:01:30.860 i'm going to reflect on some personal experiences and share with you some of my inner how do you say
00:01:37.820 nightmares and stuff when it comes to my experiences overseas now a lot of experiences have varied over
00:01:45.540 the years uh no way am i in comparison to some korean vets or world war ii vets they were in
00:01:52.280 country for a matter of years um i was in theater my first tour uh about four months
00:01:58.820 didn't see much uh it was more of a uh you know uh presence if anything uh my second tour
00:02:07.580 uh yeah i saw action i was the radio guy and i was with a team called the omelet
00:02:11.900 operating uh operating and mentoring liaison team basically we showed some of the afghan
00:02:18.020 military guys how to do things from a canadian perspective uh needless to say we did see some
00:02:23.540 action uh we lost a lad and uh we had our share of drama and turmoil and chaos and the results of that
00:02:31.780 tour uh led me into some very very dark places needless to say i'm still here i'm still alive
00:02:39.440 and well i'm employed there's food in my fridge i'm married to a great lady i've got a great family
00:02:44.160 i got great friends so the support is there per se um but yesterday it gave me some time to reflect
00:02:53.800 and hang out with some fellow vets uh some british vets uh from their own experiences uh some other
00:03:01.400 vets from other operations on the tours and just the camaraderie was fantastic it's it's always good
00:03:08.740 to reflect and remember uh what we are and what we have in this country and what people before us
00:03:16.000 have stood for and what we should still stand for regardless of how you personally feel about this
00:03:22.560 situation or that situation or this party or that party uh we should be thankful there's people that
00:03:29.160 come before us that paid the ultimate price and sacrificed more than you can ever imagine
00:03:35.820 some of us uh from my tours sacrificed quite a bit too there's a few lads i think of from time to
00:03:44.160 time they're not with us today because of their ultimate sacrifice and there's a few lads i know
00:03:48.960 personally that ended their lives because of some of the demons and the trauma they've had to deal with
00:03:56.200 and it's it does sometimes get hard to explain that ladies and gentlemen but the more i talk about
00:04:03.740 the easier it gets um i've had a great support network in regards to getting my words out there
00:04:11.780 and expressing how i feel and what's going on in my mind and all that good stuff and you my wonderful
00:04:18.880 audience out there too ironically enough i've been a big pillar of support as well
00:04:23.520 one of the reasons i do this podcast is to get information out there to speak my mind
00:04:29.480 and i'm grateful that i have some listeners and some subscribers such as yourselves out there that
00:04:35.460 take the time to listen to what i have to say and appreciate what i have to say with some of the kind
00:04:40.140 comments and and emails i've been receiving the past little while but let's get the meat and potatoes
00:04:48.280 of this episode uh remembering i do remember a lot of things uh things i wish to share things i wish
00:04:55.240 not to share there's a few people in my life in my life that i've shared with um that been there and
00:05:04.360 there's some other people in my life that have not been there um i'm not going to point fingers or
00:05:10.460 play the blame game or anything like that but remember stay gives you a time to reflect on the
00:05:17.240 people that just don't really care too and david the menzoid menzies at a rebel media uh put together
00:05:24.600 a pretty interesting video he was on the streets of toronto talking to people about poppies and all that
00:05:31.580 and i'll just say that there was one person who had the audacity of saying oh no i don't believe in
00:05:38.460 it because if canada's colonial past okay well you know you're entitled to your belief lady
00:05:44.460 whoever you may be whatever hustle and bustle you promote and what you do
00:05:51.180 but it's not just about canada's colonial past
00:05:56.780 it's about people that sacrifice their lives for what they believed in people that gave you the freedom
00:06:04.620 to say that to somebody and regardless of how you feel about this or about our history or about
00:06:11.580 this country you're still living in this country and you're getting paid canadian dollars and someone
00:06:17.100 had to sacrifice something in order for you to walk around in that city to say those things
00:06:24.700 so regardless of how you feel about it or not someone paid the price for your freedom to say that
00:06:36.140 with your growth or not that's just the reality we live in here too and i had a few conversations
00:06:42.300 over the past few days in regards to canada's colonial past and i'll remind you my listeners too that
00:06:49.100 north america and south america were colonies one way or the other at one time so we can't keep using
00:06:58.380 that as an excuse uh not to look further and to embrace our history and embrace all of our cultures
00:07:07.020 you know like it's i still shake my head when people are talking about colonialism and it's like well
00:07:12.620 we could have been french we could have been spanish we could have been dutch we could have been belgian
00:07:15.980 we could have been any one of the big empires that thrived back in those days what if england went
00:07:23.660 broke and france got rich what if spain kicked france's butt what if uh spain kicked france and
00:07:30.620 england's butt then what would be spanish would be much like south america what if portugal just sat
00:07:37.980 quietly and watched for a long time and then attacked and took over everything who knows right who
00:07:43.820 knows but that's history that's our part as canadians and to my american listeners too and british
00:07:51.500 listeners and listeners from all over the world to embrace our history and to learn from it regardless
00:07:57.500 of who the bad guys were whether it be the english the french the spanish the dutch the belgians
00:08:03.900 in some cases the germans any empire for that matter now when i look at our country's history
00:08:10.060 we still lack real leadership our own prime minister is over in asia right now he'd rather be in asia
00:08:17.820 and take part in remembrance day ceremonies even though he swore to look after veterans
00:08:22.380 right which we you know you and i both know he's full of shit it doesn't really matter he doesn't really
00:08:28.460 care and he explains that that he does care but his actions speak louder than words in fact you look at
00:08:34.860 all these leaders in our country their actions have spoken louder than the words so when we reflect
00:08:43.100 about the people that have sacrificed uh their lives for this country really really sit and just look
00:08:50.780 at what the leaders are really doing about it some have said some kind words some have just sat in
00:08:56.220 their hands some just don't care stay updated and follow crusty canuck on facebook twitter

00:09:23.340 more the algorithm goes and the more my podcast gets out there and people get to see it and decide
00:09:28.380 for themselves if they want to subscribe or not so please share this content all over certain
00:09:33.260 platforms and please comment like and subscribe in the meantime like i said this is episode 192
00:09:39.820 remembering awakening and standing yes i do remember all the time every day in a way is kind of like
00:09:45.660 remember state of me certain thoughts certain gestures certain actions you know it's true they
00:09:52.940 say you hear a loud thump your reaction is the duck i get that sometimes a few of my friends still get
00:09:58.860 that and not because we're scared it's just the way things go right there's still a lot of stigma out
00:10:06.700 there too with ptsd you know and i'd like to reiterate uh too ladies and gentlemen you don't get ptsd from
00:10:13.580 reading bad paragraphs or reading news stories that you disagree with or reading some kind of slander about
00:10:21.180 yourself you know or slander about this person or slander about this situation you can get mad you can
00:10:27.980 disagree and you might want to throw a table over or something but you're not going to get ptsd from that
00:10:34.940 you get ptsd from actual experiences not reading words okay because that's the case that everyone who read a
00:10:42.940 horror novel would have ptsd or everyone who wrote uh who read a terrible story would get ptsd
00:10:49.340 so when you hear a writer or a so-called quote-unquote journalist claim that he or she gets ptsd from
00:10:57.260 bad words and they're full of shit and they've got no guts and they got no gumption and they got no
00:11:01.980 integrity and they've got a weak character so that being said so uh later on in the show i'm going to play a
00:11:10.620 a little video of some combat footage from 2006 and uh just to give some of my listeners and viewers
00:11:17.500 to some insight on what canadians have done in afghanistan and the camaraderie and the excellence
00:11:25.740 and the teamwork
00:11:29.740 and the coherence that our troops have promoted regardless of what the political situation was
00:11:37.100 at the time or what political situation is now i can verify and validate there are a lot of canucks
00:11:42.220 out there that are willing to stand on guard for the regardless of what politicians say or what the
00:11:48.860 social media platforms say or what the mainstream media says because when i look at our politicians
00:11:54.700 as i mentioned earlier i'm not seeing a lot of a lot of strength there might be some leaders out there
00:11:59.260 in the woodwork hiding in the corner haven't come out yet but i'm not seeing a lot of strength and
00:12:05.100 this remembrance day proved it now regardless of who you agree with or who you want to vote for who
00:12:11.980 you think is going to come to surface uh come the next federal election if we do have one or if
00:12:18.460 someone steps down hint hint wink wink justin you know what i mean um i'm not seeing real integrity
00:12:28.700 i'm seeing a healthy opposition and i'm seeing the bantering in parliament but what are these
00:12:35.020 individuals going to do for you and me i'm still a firm believer in not filing for certain politicians
00:12:42.540 because i won't and i highly recommend you my wonderful audience out there that you don't file either
00:12:48.860 and not because of roads or schools or the projected health crisis they keep talking about
00:12:57.100 i'm talking about principle because i know for a fact that every blue collar worker in this country
00:13:01.500 gets a lot taken off his or her check every two weeks yours truly gets a lot taken off his check
00:13:07.900 every two weeks plus i get a lot taken off my pension too for my 20 years of service and why should we file
00:13:18.140 more papers come april for an ungrateful government that just wants to spend and piss the money away
00:13:24.860 when there are things that need to be done in this country things that need to be looked after
00:13:28.380 right so i'll propose that to you submitted for your approval my wonderful audience not to file i'll
00:13:37.900 leave the links in my description and you decide what you want to do now i've had numerous debates with
00:13:44.220 people in the twitter world and out in public in regards to filing one's taxes
00:13:51.820 and what you must do and civic duties and all that good stuff and my awakening is this
00:13:57.980 why should i be giving money to something that's going to be giving it away to somebody else later
00:14:02.540 on right and that somebody else is somebody outside of canada or some other group outside of canada or
00:14:10.860 some virtue of some sort to make a handful of politicians look like they really care
00:14:17.740 when they're doing nothing but squandering our resources and wasting our effing time
00:14:22.620 stay updated and follow crusty canuck on facebook twitter gab telegram youtube and podbean

00:14:39.660 yeah really wasting our effing time and for what because the past couple of weeks there's been uh
00:14:45.420 loops here about uh strike here and a strike there and people complaining about their human rights and
00:14:51.420 yet we still fail to realize that there are a lot of human rights violations over the past
00:14:56.700 two and a half years in this country in regards to the jibby jab and the pandemic and everything else
00:15:03.420 people have lost their jobs lost their businesses been fined ridiculous amounts of money
00:15:08.620 for what now whether they went to court and prove their innocence or not
00:15:14.380 they still had to go to court to prove their innocence spent a lot of money doing so
00:15:18.620 a lot of businesses went bankrupt a lot of people lost their jobs a lot of people lost hope lost
00:15:25.340 their minds hit drugs hit each other and some took their own lives is this the canada i fought for
00:15:36.700 is this the canada i put 20 years of my life into is this the canada that my comrades and my brothers in
00:15:42.940 arms put their lives into even the ones that didn't return from my tour from other tours
00:15:51.500 from other operations is that what they sacrificed their lives for
00:15:56.540 puts things in perspective now doesn't it ladies and gentlemen
00:16:00.700 it's like the old adage why should i give 110 to you and you can't even fathom 20 for me
00:16:05.740 and from what i've gathered and what i've seen and what i've witnessed and the people i've talked to
00:16:12.780 over the past couple of months there's a lot of people that feel that way why should i give 100 to
00:16:17.660 you you can't give 20 back to me something to think about anyhow i'll put this video up here for you
00:16:25.420 all to uh to uh watch and then uh inside amongst yourselves now this is it's not gory there's no
00:16:34.540 blood and guts in this but there's combat and uh to my listeners listen carefully to my listeners
00:16:42.540 and viewers alike watch and listen carefully please uh gives gives you a pretty good perspective
00:16:48.700 of what our men and women went through in that country
00:17:04.540 uh
00:17:07.260 Let's go Bravo!

00:21:35.260 Yeah, another 200!
00:21:46.260 Her fucking car is taking fire too.
00:21:50.260 Fucking Wayne was throwing grenades into the corner.
00:21:52.260 Nice!
00:21:55.260 Yeah!

00:22:01.260 Yeah!
00:22:02.260 Yeah!
00:22:03.260 Yeah!
00:22:04.260 Yeah!
00:22:05.260 Yeah!
00:22:06.260 He's gotta be getting low on ammo.
00:22:09.260 He's fucking too late.
00:22:10.260 Okay, get behind something now!
00:22:11.260 We got air burst 200 meters!
00:22:13.260 Shut up!
00:22:14.260 Here it comes!
00:22:16.260 Oh!
00:22:17.260 Beautiful!
00:22:18.260 Yeah!
00:22:21.260 Beautiful!
00:22:24.260 That little...
00:22:48.260 that's a reality ladies and gentlemen pardon the pause there but that was the reality that
00:22:57.960 some of the companies and some of the battle groups went through over there
00:23:02.000 now that's just a small taste of what some lads have seen what a lot of lads have seen
00:23:11.460 on a bigger scale too on a daily basis now if men and women are willing to volunteer and fight
00:23:19.320 in a foreign nation for this country why can't our leaders step up and fight just a little bit
00:23:26.840 more for us for you and me okay why can't they promote liberty why can't they promote
00:23:33.440 proper freedom why can't they promote democracy they've all said oh you know democracy at stake
00:23:39.600 if we do this or democracy is at stake if we don't let this protest happen or allow this
00:23:44.340 protest to happen democracy is at stake when you stifle anybody who has something to say in this
00:23:51.360 country regardless if you agree with it or not now i'm guilty of disagreeing with people and
00:23:56.480 bantering online too okay but that's the freedom to do it that's the freedom to choose that's the
00:24:03.520 freedom of expression freedom of speech regardless of how you feel about hate speech or not people
00:24:09.440 are going to say hateful things regardless people are going to say some stupid things that's just life
00:24:14.180 right in the schoolyards kids used to say stupid things some of the teachers used to say stupid
00:24:19.820 things you go to a hockey game you hear stupid things any soccer games baseball games any kind of
00:24:25.480 conglomerate of people you're going to hear stupid things we're adults we're supposed to handle it
00:24:31.480 unfortunately we have adults in power that don't want to handle it because they have some virtue
00:24:37.240 those men in that footage their virtue is this standing on guard doing their job fighting the
00:24:44.500 enemy winning the firefight so they can go home go home to their loved ones remember their loved ones
00:24:50.480 remember the fallen too unfortunately we have a lot of people in this country that forget that
00:24:57.960 or they just don't want to pay attention to it and that's fine you don't have to nobody in their
00:25:05.040 right mind agrees with warfare as far as i'm concerned but there are necessary evils in our
00:25:10.240 history that proved they had it had to be done world war one world war two korea peace support
00:25:20.020 operations peacekeeping operations peace enforcement operations vietnam regards of how some of my american
00:25:29.400 friends disagree or or not there are a lot of people that stepped up the plate and thought they're doing
00:25:35.300 the right thing because they thought it was their duty they're people that served in capacities that
00:25:44.220 needed the adventure that needed the job and wanted to do it because they believed in it
00:25:48.040 and you can't condemn people for doing that so to me every day is remembrance day because of what i did
00:25:56.180 what i saw what my friends did what they saw to our fallen brothers and sisters did
00:26:02.440 service and that should be respected regardless of what decade you're in what generation you're in
00:26:10.380 you can sit there and call soldiers murderers people don't join the military for the sake of killing
00:26:16.200 people join the military because they want the job they have an aptitude for it and they like what
00:26:21.620 they do some people join the military because they need adventure they need something else they want to
00:26:27.500 try something else on and during that time while they're trying something else on they're called to
00:26:33.580 go over here they're called to go over there that's life you think police officers join the police
00:26:41.420 departments canada wide because they want the adrenaline rush to arrest somebody they want the
00:26:46.760 adrenaline rush to pull out their their service pistol to shoot somebody or they want to serve
00:26:52.040 do you think firefighters join the fire department because they want to watch things burn
00:26:55.980 right do you think doctors become doctors because they want to have the power to cut somebody open
00:27:01.860 to see their innards people make the choice to do things in the name of serving humanity
00:27:08.200 and every one of those jobs we get lost along the way one way the other but i'm not saying every soldier
00:27:14.460 out there is a nut bar nor is every doctor nor is every police officer nor is every firefighter
00:27:20.160 paramedic anyone who's in public service but that's being taken for granted and this past
00:27:26.360 remembrance day that's proven to me especially when our leaders fail to show up
00:27:31.480 okay now veterans affairs apparently there's a 43 week waiting list for some guys to get their
00:27:39.220 benefits that's pitiful that's unacceptable that's not the taxpayers fault that's the government's fault
00:27:47.140 that's the leadership's fault okay
00:27:50.120 and i've said my last episode too the lackluster leadership um miss freeland talking about the whole
00:27:58.460 well maybe you should cut back on your tv shows save some money that arrogance is self-explanatory
00:28:04.520 so a lot of people just showed up to get their roundy points and a lot of people just
00:28:10.420 just don't care now i'm not expecting every canadian out there and every listener to this this podcast
00:28:17.200 they care 100 but next remembrance day do yourself a favor and just spend a minute or two
00:28:26.840 thinking about the men and women that did fall for this country
00:28:31.480 and i'm talking all canadians i'm not just talking about one group or this group or that group
00:28:37.160 i'm talking about all canadians all black all white all first nations all asian all east indian
00:28:45.220 other members of the commonwealth too
00:28:47.760 and reflect on the sacrifices that people made
00:28:52.500 and awaken to the bullshit
00:28:56.000 that they have to put up with in their memory
00:29:00.160 and stand up for this nation
00:29:03.900 yes we are imperfect that's democracy it's imperfect
00:29:09.240 but i'd rather live in an imperfect democracy
00:29:12.420 than a totalitarian state any fucking day of the week
00:29:16.660 at least we can still speak our minds in this country hopefully
00:29:21.720 without that costing more money later on
00:29:26.180 but we have to fight for that
00:29:29.020 we have to honor that and respect that
00:29:31.020 especially what our ancestors fought for
00:29:33.880 and died for
00:29:35.320 whether it be the fields of france
00:29:37.540 and holland
00:29:39.400 or in afghanistan
00:29:42.060 all i can say about my time there is that i will never ever forget
00:29:52.380 what i saw and what i did
00:29:54.840 i'll never forget the friends i made
00:29:57.560 i never forget the looks in their faces when i crack some jokes and when they crack some jokes
00:30:03.340 and never forget serving
00:30:07.460 that's my reflection on this 12th of november 2022
00:30:14.840 ladies and gentlemen i hope nothing but good things for you and yours
00:30:19.200 i hope that we can reflect on

00:30:25.220 let us pray

00:30:28.260 all right
00:30:29.380 i will be around again next saturday

00:30:42.180 but it was worth it

00:30:48.380 share some jokes
00:30:49.940 share some stories
00:30:50.840 and reflect
00:30:51.420 and remember
00:30:52.800 who came before us
00:30:54.140 and who fell before us
00:30:55.800 and who might have to fall for us again
00:30:57.420 it might be you and me
00:30:59.340 i don't know
00:31:00.000 in these trying times
00:31:02.440 who knows what's going to happen
00:31:03.500 who knows what's being planned as we speak
00:31:06.060 but the leadership in this country
00:31:09.000 is really going to change
00:31:09.940 and i'm talking totally 180
00:31:12.220 i don't care
00:31:13.500 what side of the fence they're on
