00:00:00.000 a good afternoon ladies and gentlemen it's a beautiful 18th of june 2024 coming up this

00:00:08.500 episode of the crossing act podcast episode 293 that's right it's pride poverty and persecution

00:00:15.200 all the help about pride this month and the poverty report that was on national news

00:00:20.060 and some personal friends of mine that are being persecuted as we speak all that more

00:00:25.840 from the podcast ladies and gentlemen listener view discretion is advised because i will swear

00:00:29.820 i will smoke a cigarette and i'll make some unkind gestures to the powers that be see you in a bit

00:00:35.240 hit it sweetheart because i am hard you will not like me

00:00:43.860 there is no racial bigotry here

00:00:49.880 from western canada this is the crusty

00:00:59.800 canuck podcast a canadian veteran's point of view on political social economic issues and life

00:01:07.000 here's crusty

00:01:08.380 that's right ladies and gentlemen your episode 293 of the crusty podcast pride poverty and persecution

00:01:15.580 hello everybody i'm your host crusty canuck hope you're enjoying yourselves thus far

00:01:19.300 and this podcast is also brought to you in part by and supported by the veterans for freedom network

00:01:35.140 great programming coming from veterans and other canadians like-minded in the name of freedom freedom

00:01:40.240 of speech and all that other good stuff hi everybody i'm your host crusty canuck i tried a new title card

00:01:45.440 thing there too uh download another uh free uh thumbnail maker didn't work out as well as i

00:01:51.740 planned needless to say it was kind of frustrating but you know i had to put a thumbnail up just for

00:01:55.560 shits and giggles and if you like and hear what you see please click like and subscribe share this content 0.56

00:01:59.940 over your social media platforms do not be shy ladies and gentlemen please get the algorithm out there 0.90

00:02:04.620 help us canucks get our words out there and a special thank you to alex who gave me a wonderful

00:02:09.600 donation the other day especially individuals that gave me donations on my last video thank you very

00:02:13.900 much thank you thank you thank you very very i think her name is carol thank you carol and thank

00:02:20.000 you alex for your lovely lovely donations much appreciate it it will help me this week when it comes

00:02:25.000 to gasoline for my truck getting to work but thank you thank you all so much like the title card says

00:02:30.620 the gentleman episode 293 pride poverty and persecution so we'll start with pride it's pride

00:02:38.300 season ladies and gentlemen that's great do we need a season there are people in my in my life

00:02:45.440 in my circle that are gay and it took them some time to come out took them bravery and real courage

00:02:51.940 because they're in positions where they might have been prosecuted and or persecuted needless to say

00:02:57.000 i love those people dearly but we've had conversations where we don't really have to

00:03:01.440 worry about a season because as a canadian forces veteran as somebody who's actually seen combat and

00:03:06.640 experienced warfare we get one day and maybe a few days throughout the week that some channels put

00:03:11.640 some memory and some remembrance ceremonies on television for us but we don't get the likes of

00:03:16.620 a whole month or three months to remember the sacrifice of the people of this country that

00:03:22.580 paid the ultimate price and i tell you this right now from one veteran to you to other civilians out

00:03:29.340 there it never fazed me who is gay or straight what fazed me is they wore the uniform and they did

00:03:35.220 their job to the best of their ability that simple okay so when you talk about pride this time of year

00:03:41.300 when you talk about have to love yourself yeah you should love yourself every day ladies and gentlemen

00:03:45.800 you should love yourself to the best of your ability every day every minute of this life

00:03:52.760 okay and of course there's always news rumblings every year now the past five years where someone

00:03:58.240 would do skid marks on a sidewalk or someone would drop a pride flag or someone would rip up a pride flag

00:04:04.180 or whatever get over it because i was really offended during the convoy when i'd see people tearing up

00:04:11.160 the maple leaf when i would see people deface our flag too now it's not a crime in canada to burn your

00:04:16.900 flag in some cases it should be in other cases it shouldn't but i'm also a firm believer in freedom

00:04:22.840 of speech and expression okay that goes all the way not just for one group over here or one group over

00:04:30.060 there or this group or that group and everybody group group you know old mcdonald had a farm right

00:04:35.220 it doesn't it doesn't effing matter to me ladies and gentlemen okay nothing wrong being proud of

00:04:42.420 your accomplishments but enjoying your own sexuality living in your own skin to me is not really an

00:04:48.180 accomplishment it just it's it's a way of life you either like the steak or you don't okay great

00:04:53.300 doesn't faze me i don't look at coming out of the closet or changing your identity as an accomplishment

00:04:59.240 it's a step in bravery it does take some courage but the truth will prevail one way or the other

00:05:05.360 so regardless of how you decide you want to live your life you go ahead and do you do the best of

00:05:10.920 your ability do what you can do i don't care who you love i don't care who you sleep with as long as

00:05:16.020 it's consensual and two people get along and you're not hitting each other and taking your stuff

00:05:19.740 then we're fine doesn't matter if you like it this way doesn't matter if you like it that way 0.99

00:05:24.500 or here or there or up there i don't give a shit right as long as you're not screwing with other 0.94

00:05:31.580 people's liberty and their freedom to choose and explore on their own terms everything's just gym 0.89

00:05:37.140 effing dandy but of course this time of year we can't say this we can't say that we can't express

00:05:43.200 this we can't express that why because someone might get offended and cry in their cereal and what

00:05:49.120 do we have to do about it tiptoe uh-uh not this time not this guy and neither should you ladies and

00:05:55.540 gentlemen you shouldn't have to tiptoe around anything now if you go to your way to hurt let's

00:06:00.740 say a young man who is obviously homosexual or who admits to you these homosexual and you give that 1.00

00:06:06.960 young man a hard time for being gay then you're a dick or a bitch or whatever if you don't then fine 1.00

00:06:14.080 nothing wrong with that but in turn if that young homosexual comes up to you and gives you a hard 1.00

00:06:18.740 time for being straight or for being white or for being black or for being whitewashed or brainwashed 0.96

00:06:24.900 or an apple or whatever abbreviation they come up with to counterculture reality then you basically 0.95

00:06:31.520 got to tune in a man that simple i'm not saying use violence but i am saying use your head use your

00:06:38.280 noggin okay i personally don't believe if you belong to a certain category of people you deserve special

00:06:43.980 rights i don't care you deserve the right to go to school you deserve the right to get a job

00:06:47.900 deserve the right to live in this capitalist society know what i said capitalist because we

00:06:53.360 all want to make some money even though the government wants to take you know at least 60

00:06:56.360 percent of it we deserve to care with our lives doesn't matter if bill and steve get married or 0.98

00:07:02.280 june and n get married or june and bill get married and they want to play with june and i you know it 0.96

00:07:06.500 doesn't matter i don't care it's none of my fucking concern what you do in your bedroom is your 0.99

00:07:10.940 business so be proud of yourself and your accomplishments and that goes for everybody 0.98

00:07:15.760 here not just uh this group of people or that group of people for everybody and that should

00:07:21.000 be done every day and if someone puts a skid mark on a certain flag get over it i get offended when

00:07:28.600 people deface this but i'm not going to go online and constantly scream to the heavens oh my god i'm so

00:07:33.960 oppressed because i know what i fought for i know what i signed up for and what my brethren signed

00:07:40.380 up for what my grandparents signed up for meaning you can say what you want about this and say and do

00:07:46.260 what you want about that freedom to do so that is paramount and it's that simple but unfortunately

00:07:53.620 we have individuals in this country people that are in the bureaucracy of things in the administration

00:07:58.300 of things who just don't see it that way i want to keep prosecuting the hate speech

00:08:02.920 well you do that then you have really nothing to be proud of other than being a tyrant that you're

00:08:09.000 fighting against stay updated and follow crusty canuck on facebook twitter gap telegram youtube and pod

00:09:42.360 consider that too donating three or five dollars a month too there's applications and descriptions in

00:09:53.180 consistency here and once again thank you to the people who've donated the past couple days you guys

00:09:56.840 are awesome anyway before i you know blow a gasket here in regards to the whole pride thing i'll just

00:10:02.540 say again nobody that i can think of in my life nobody in my circle is going to go the way to harm

00:10:08.280 somebody who's gay or straight or bi right a lot of people have just grown to accept it

00:10:13.580 and have other things to worry about right that's the thing so there's nothing wrong with who you are

00:10:23.180 there's nothing wrong with discovering that you like this or you want this and you express yourself

00:10:27.360 that way not a damn thing wrong with it right but let's stop worrying about the identity and start

00:10:33.400 worrying about longevity okay it's that simple anyway carrying on this episode pride poverty and

00:10:40.800 persecution episode 293 of the crusty heart podcast so poverty i saw a disturbing thing in the news

00:10:48.400 today in regards to what the food banks of canada have discovered uh based on how many people have

00:10:53.720 uh had to get to some groceries from the food bank association and they say 25 percent of canadians

00:11:01.320 are experiencing poverty as we speak 25 percent okay

00:11:07.580 that's quite scary and can every time you watch question period and you watch the prime minister

00:11:14.960 and the deputy prime minister miss freeland and every other backer every environmental junkie out there 1.00

00:11:21.400 saying that eight out of ten canadians are better off because of the carbon tax or the price on carbon

00:11:28.380 or the price on pollution is it effective well if the price on pollution is saving us stopping from

00:11:36.220 the country burning why is a quarter of these people assessed experiencing poverty so when i look at the

00:11:43.800 whole eight out of ten canadians are better off and yet 25 percent uh is experiencing something

00:11:49.100 devastating how does the liberal math work now honestly think about that 1.00

00:11:55.480 it doesn't because it's a goddamn scam it's a con it's a tax just like this capital gains bullshit 0.99

00:12:10.480 they keep promoting and you look at the the twitter uh the x feed formerly known as twitter 1.00

00:12:15.440 how they're lighting up all the time you get people backing up these clowns oh it's been people

00:12:20.240 paying their fair share what are those 343 politicians paying their fair share as i mentioned in the last

00:12:28.480 episode nikki ashton member of parliament with the ndp got her pp slapped for spending 17 000

00:12:36.320 of taxpayers money to go on a fucking holiday 17 000 the average canadian that's about a third of their

00:12:46.640 salary think about that that's about a third of average canadian salaries that's that's that's a tax 0.98

00:12:54.080 bill for for the majority of canadians okay over a period of a couple years right 17th and she just

00:13:01.360 takes it because her family like she's making 202 000 a year and she can't afford to take her kids 1.00

00:13:09.280 someplace else she can't afford this can't afford that yet she's got to bill the taxpayers 17 000 0.54

00:13:16.560 dollars right so when i hear about the math of people uh you know uh having it better than we do

00:13:23.200 do you mean the canadian people or do you mean yourselves because you sure as hell don't mean the

00:13:28.460 taxpayers stay updated and follow crusty canuck on facebook twitter gab telegram youtube and pod bean

00:13:37.340 subscribe today and donate at crustycanuck.ca

00:13:43.980 and you're back ladies and gentlemen episode 293 of the crusty podcast pride poverty and persecution

00:13:49.980 hello i'm your host crusty uh hope you're enjoying yourselves hope you had a good weekend i know it's

00:13:54.860 tuesday i've had some extra work to do excuse me i have to go buy some lumber today i gotta fix the

00:14:00.860 staircase uh but i'll be getting that sorted out as soon as i'm done recording this beautiful episode

00:14:05.660 for all you beautiful people out there so as i was saying nikki ashton member of the ndp you know

00:14:11.500 on the hook for 17 grand because she wanted to take her family on a holiday last year what's funny

00:14:17.980 though this happened last year now it's just coming to surface now so it shows you who is in cahoots

00:14:22.860 with parliament to scratch each other's backs or do other favors to keep things closed and keep things

00:14:28.140 hush hush until something devastating happens we've all heard that the persecution and the prosecution

00:14:34.860 of the so-called individuals that might have colluded either with china you know the communist side of

00:14:40.060 china india or maybe iran or other influences who knows but when you look at this whole thing about

00:14:46.460 poverty coming in this country we can blame the inflation and we can also blame the government spending and

00:14:52.220 we can blame this ridiculous carbon tax not to mention extra taxes that are coming our way like

00:14:57.100 the capital gains you know they sit there and tell us that oh it's not going to affect your primary

00:15:02.220 residence but it'll affect anything else you own i.e let's say a couple of a few acres of land a cottage

00:15:08.620 a resort a getaway some sort and i'm not saying every canine owns resort but there are people in my

00:15:13.580 lives that have a secondary property they like to go to in the summertime like a cottage or a cabin or a

00:15:19.580 park where they use their trailer okay and now the government wants to dig at that too they've even

00:15:26.540 considered about digging at the equity of your own home to get more money out of you to pay their

00:15:31.660 national debt so to all those individuals on x that are holding on to your fake pearls that were either 0.98

00:15:37.660 bought or given to you by the canadian taxpayer or someone who loves you very much get a goddamn grip 0.97

00:15:44.220 and stay the fuck out of our wallets okay it's that simple that's what a tax is you're asking 0.99

00:15:51.820 the canadian citizens to pay more don't worry about the rich there's always gonna be rich people in this 0.96

00:15:56.460 country that'll come and go when they please they'll decide to invest or not to invest they'll decide to

00:16:02.380 invest here and move over there they'll put their assets here put their assets there well us regular folk

00:16:08.460 us plebs us middle class canadians that have paid more than enough of their share of taxes gets it up

00:16:15.100 the chuff that's something you guys don't see correction i think it's a lot of what some people see they

00:16:22.140 just don't effing care okay so i'm going to read a little article here well first i'm going to play a

00:16:27.340 video uh that was on ctv this morning uh about the plight of the cost of living and like i say ladies and

00:16:34.940 gentlemen take what you can out of it take what you will out of it even though it is mainstream legacy

00:16:39.660 media nonetheless ladies and gentlemen they make a valid point and uh we can sit here all day and

00:16:46.620 talk about the pros and cons it's just things are getting tough for every canuck out there and of

00:16:51.660 course some american friends too they're experiencing uh inflation and just ridiculous spending on behalf

00:16:56.540 of the government morning with a concerning new look at how many canadians are struggling with the

00:17:02.700 rising cost of living one in four people living in poverty in this country those numbers coming from

00:17:09.580 food banks canada it found the poverty rate is actually higher than the 10 estimated by stats can

00:17:16.220 using metrics out of europe the report says 25 of canadians cannot afford two or more household

00:17:23.740 essentials putting them below the poverty line that includes 30 of 18 to 30 year olds 44 of single

00:17:32.540 parent families and 42 percent of renters joining me now to discuss is richard mattern food bank

00:17:40.300 canada's director of research good morning to you richard thanks so much for taking the time to speak

00:17:46.540 with us about this report it is concerning um the 10 percent not telling the full story of what is

00:17:54.060 going on with canadians explain so yes indeed what how we currently measure poverty in canada

00:18:01.740 is known as a market basket measure which looks at a certain income level what our study did was

00:18:07.500 take a indicator a measurement that they've used in europe for decades called the material deprivation

00:18:12.540 index we updated it using canadian data and from our study we're seeing that 25 percent of canadians

00:18:20.620 cannot afford two or more household essentials and these are essentials that the majority of canadians

00:18:26.140 deem are necessary for an adequate standard of living and they include editing from being able to afford

00:18:31.500 clothes for a job interview being able to afford protein at least every other day being able to get

00:18:37.820 around your community so this is what we're seeing on the ground is actually reflective of of these numbers

00:18:46.540 what does it mean to be living at what is called a poverty level living standard

00:18:52.060 so what this means is people are uh likely likely living at a poverty level living standard if they

00:18:59.580 cannot afford two or more of the essentials on this list so uh as i mentioned they include everything

00:19:06.860 that you know items activities uh or or services that the majority of canadians and that's 50 or more

00:19:13.420 of canadians deem are essential for an adequate standard of living and uh that's aligned with other

00:19:19.980 indicators that we've been seeing lately we've seen more canadians struggling to make ends meet um

00:19:24.940 stocks can zone food insecurity data is showing uh almost a quarter of canadians experience food

00:19:30.060 insecurity um we're seeing more and more people who are living perhaps above the official poverty line

00:19:37.180 but uh are still struggling to make ends meet in the fact that they can't afford the goods and

00:19:42.460 services that people think they should be able to afford and the report says that assessing

00:19:47.100 now you see there ladies and gentlemen 30 of 18 to 30 year olds experiencing poverty 44 and a half

00:19:55.820 percent single parent households and 42 of renters that's that's quite the number i don't know about 0.98

00:20:02.460 you but that whole eight or ten canes are better off is a load of shit poverty goes beyond income 0.97

00:20:09.180 can you explain that statement yeah so income measures inputs so that is what's coming into a household 0.99

00:20:15.580 but outputs include what can they actually afford what can they do with the income they have

00:20:20.460 and that is many things affect people what they can afford day to day so even though their income might

00:20:27.180 be a certain level they could have high levels of debt or on the other hand assets they might be

00:20:33.580 living in a rental situation where they've been living at the same place for quite a few years and

00:20:38.220 their rent is lower or they might have just moved into an apartment where the rent is above average

00:20:45.820 what an average rent would be for the region or somebody might have a disability and even though

00:20:51.660 their income might be slightly higher than what the poverty line indicates they have a lot of

00:20:56.380 certain needs and requirements in order to accommodate that disability so we're seeing a whole range of

00:21:01.260 circumstances that can affect people's standard of living that go beyond just what's coming in in terms of

00:21:07.020 their income and when we look at who and maybe we can pop up those graphics again um 30 of 18 to 30

00:21:14.060 year olds 44 of single parent families 42 of renters is there anything about those numbers those stats

00:21:22.860 that stand out to you richard that surprise you well so nothing unfortunately surprising this is all

00:21:29.500 reflected in what we're seeing in terms of recent data among food insecurity how households

00:21:34.940 are experiencing food insecurity amongst those coming to food banks we're seeing more and more people

00:21:39.980 in that actually 18 to 30 age category who are coming to food banks many who are struggling to have

00:21:46.620 stable work and in many cases are paying very high rental costs and that also leads to the 42 percent

00:21:52.620 of renters experiencing poverty level standard of living so these numbers are indicating perhaps we need to

00:21:58.860 look at other ways to uh measure poverty that in turn will help design better poverty reduction programs

00:22:04.940 that target those groups yeah ways to get out uh richard thanks again for being with us richard

00:22:10.540 mattern is the director of research with food banks canada

00:22:18.140 well that's pretty self-explanatory ladies and gentlemen honestly that is just that is pitiful that is

00:22:24.060 extremely pitiful right so i guess that whole eight out of ten canadians are better off because

00:22:29.340 they're getting more money back more money for what more taxes perhaps they might invest some of that

00:23:01.420 and you're back ladies and gentlemen to episode 293 of the crusty canuck podcast that's right pride

00:23:06.380 poverty and persecution hello everybody i'm your host crusty in case you're just tuning in thank you

00:23:11.260 very much to those new subscribers i have on the tube and on rumble thank you very much you guys

00:23:16.700 are awesome and i want to say thank you to those people that in uh donated the other day too i believe

00:23:21.660 carol and alex thank you you two are just wonderful human beings thank you very much

00:23:26.860 excuse me now part of the persecution of this episode i just recently found out that good friends

00:23:31.420 of mine the fine people in northern perspective cypher and fox i've been on their podcast a couple

00:23:36.540 times been on my podcast uh i shared a symposium with them that they hosted uh with the

00:23:41.100 alexa vesper uh marty up north clyde do something and tamara lich uh one of the freedom organizers of

00:23:47.660 the freedom convoy who had a great talk there a few months back it's just brought to my attention

00:23:52.060 that now mr cypher i'm not gonna mention his name because he deserves his uh deserves his privacy even

00:23:58.220 though him and his wife put together a video yesterday i'll leave a link to their uh heartfelt uh video

00:24:04.140 in the description they basically just told canada that uh cypher lost his job

00:24:10.540 because of his point of view because of the videos he has made uh because of what he did in regards to

00:24:17.660 him and his wife they're beautiful people by the way just a great team of individuals and they really

00:24:22.540 care and love this country and they care about the plight of our people here and basically what they did is

00:24:29.900 they put together a great video series in regards to the arrive can app the arrive scam affectionately

00:24:35.660 known the amount of millions and millions of almost maybe a billion dollars into these uh programs to

00:24:42.220 line the pockets of a handful of individuals rather than put together an actual application that was

00:24:47.020 supposed to help people and to sum it all up uh cypher lost his job because i guess he worked for the

00:24:55.660 federal government and the powers that be where he worked didn't like what he had to say about certain

00:25:01.660 things so when i look at the labor laws in this country when i look at um how people are being treated now

00:25:08.860 i've said a few times to myself on this show how i lost a job because someone didn't like my opinion

00:25:14.780 someone didn't like my words now if anybody is watching who happens to work for the federal government 0.85

00:25:22.460 okay and you don't like my words i double fucking dare you to come and get me 0.99

00:25:32.460 if there's anybody in administration or in the bureaucracy of this elected government 0.86

00:25:37.980 and you happen to see this show you happen to see what i'm saying and hearing me right now 0.98

00:25:43.900 i double fucking dog dare you to come and get me 0.99

00:25:46.380 i double dog dare any is out there to come and get these individuals really 0.99

00:25:56.540 i know it sounds childish but then again firing somebody because you don't like their opinion 0.97

00:26:01.900 or don't like their words i would say is even more fucking childish now cypher and fox deserve better 0.93

00:26:07.820 attention and better respect than that so to any administrator bureaucrat out there that wants to 0.87

00:26:15.100 let someone go because you don't like their political political opinion or their point of

00:26:20.460 view when it comes to money in this country or their point of view on defense or their point of

00:26:25.180 view on the poverty issue in this country don't add to the problem

00:26:33.820 don't add to it

00:26:37.260 it's it's that simple because the more you more you add to these problems the more and more you deserve

00:26:45.100 absolutely nothing exactly so to any administrator or bureaucrat out there that happens to work for

00:26:53.660 the sitting federal government right now and you happen to be watching this podcast or listening this

00:26:59.820 podcast my contact information is in my description you can find me on youtube you can find me on rumble

00:27:07.820 you can find me an apple spotify look for the crusty cannot podcast reach out and talk to me maybe we can

00:27:13.740 have a little chat or debate or healthy dialogue back and forth but i'm still going to tell you you've

00:27:21.900 got no right firing people because they may disagree with your status quo it's not like the man was working

00:27:29.740 for coca-cola and he was out handing out pepsi flyers it wasn't like the man was working for one battery

00:27:35.900 company and he's handing out flyers for another battery company it's all of our tax dollars that

00:27:43.020 go into these administrative jobs these federal jobs and if you hire someone and that person has

00:27:50.060 an exemplary performance record and shows up on time and goes above and beyond for you that is what you 0.99

00:27:56.060 should be worried about not worried about someone's opinion because you can't fucking handle it 0.92

00:28:01.340 so to cypher and fox if you're listening right now i've got your six you guys were good to me you 0.96

00:28:08.380 gave me part of your platform because of your influence because of your show you helped me gain

00:28:14.380 some subscribers and give me some traction i am forever grateful so i'm going to return the favor

00:28:20.940 to the individuals that know who cypher is and had him fired give me a call

00:28:27.020 talk to me i'm from ontario i just live in alberta

00:28:35.740 i've dealt with lots of administrators and bureaucrats and so-called quote-unquote leaders alike

00:28:42.700 and i'm still here i'm still thriving i intend to thrive because i have plans and there's people i know

00:28:50.540 and connections i'm making as i build as i sit here today to get things on the go but you disrupted a

00:28:56.700 family and you screwed up someone's life all because they did something on the side that you

00:29:02.140 just don't like everyone's allowed to have a side hustle look what i've just been talking about

00:29:08.460 poverty people need to make some money people need to be able to buy things like food like medicine and

00:29:15.740 like therapy for their children if they need it but some of you bureaucrats and admins out there who

00:29:22.060 want to tow a party line or torn ideology has just screwed the pooch on this one and you just prove 0.67

00:29:28.780 to people like myself and others out there that you're not worthy of said position and you ain't 0.99

00:29:33.980 entitled to a goddamn thing because you fail to fucking earn it and you fail to use goddamn integrity to 0.98

00:29:40.540 promote it so to the administrators and bureaucrats out there that fired my friends i dare you i 1.00
