00:00:00.000 a good evening everybody it's a beautiful 5th of april 2025 on this saturday oh my goodness
00:00:10.500 mark carney just keeps putting his foot in his mouth that's right teachable moments episode 359
00:00:16.700 he wants to give more money away if elected typical liberal response hey god just me to
00:00:23.220 think think you won't get any stupider here comes a man who wants to give more money away
00:00:28.580 for subpar television all that more coming to the show ladies and gentlemen listener discretion
00:00:33.740 listener discretion is advised because i will swear smoke cigarettes and make fun of the leaders as i
00:00:38.660 see fit see you in a bit hit it sweetheart because i am hard you will not like me
00:00:48.660 from western canada this is the crusty connect podcast a canadian veterans point of view
00:01:07.900 on political social economic issues and life he is crusty
00:01:13.180 that's right ladies and gentlemen welcome to so 359 the crusty connect podcast i'm your host
00:01:20.120 crusty knuck this podcast is also brought to you in part by and supported by veterans freedom that's
00:01:25.100 right stand two and coming soon ladies and gentlemen veterans for freedom tv hi everybody i'm your host
00:01:30.480 crusty knuck hope all is well in your world today as we speak i know it's been an interesting couple
00:01:36.260 days interesting soft bumpy ride when it comes to the world of justice and politics in this country
00:01:41.800 oh my just reminding people i can hear you see click like subscribe share this podcast
00:01:46.260 all over your social media platforms do not be shy ladies and gentlemen give me a thumbs up give me a
00:01:51.080 comment tell me where you're writing from all that good stuff i don't care where you're from in the
00:01:54.220 world just let me know you're there and you're watching all that good stuff so as the title card said
00:01:58.600 so mr mark carney wants to give more money to the cbc because you know they're a national institution
00:02:05.640 and they're great for our defense and it explores canadiana at its finest now i don't know about you
00:02:11.880 but when i look at the cbc i haven't really sat down and watched any proper programs on cbc for a very
00:02:18.300 very long time and i'll tell you why because i remember around 2007 they had a couple of decent
00:02:25.880 shows that were worth watching uh george stromulopoulos had a great talk show he talked to everybody
00:02:31.480 celebrities singers it was just a great all-around talk show and the guy had personality and there
00:02:36.720 used to be a tv show on called the border it was basically about canadian security and american
00:02:41.120 security working together on keeping the border secure in a fictional office in toronto and american
00:02:46.600 and canadian actors back and forth would be entering on about security and stuff it was actually a pretty
00:02:50.780 decent drama but after that when they canceled that show and they changed the format for strombo and
00:02:56.560 they changed the theme song for hockey night in canada i just kind of lost interest because
00:03:01.760 there wasn't really anything much to look forward on when you looked at the broadcasting you know
00:03:08.060 regardless of how much money they're making every year you have to admit regardless of the elections
00:03:13.660 regardless of the politics or not they they just gone to shit honestly it's kind of hard to really
00:03:19.300 trust the cbc because they have proven biased and biased and biased time and time again especially
00:03:24.780 during the convoy now i got into it with an old high school chum of mine there today in regards to
00:03:29.380 the convoy and he was telling me that there was an occupation all this shit and i said firstly bud you
00:03:33.740 don't know what an occupation is secondly i've seen some occupations throughout my military career
00:03:38.040 and firstly that was not an occupation that was a protest based on the protests we have seen the
00:03:43.560 past couple years since the 27th or correction the 7th of october i believe 2024 uh we are 2023
00:03:50.520 um the convoy has nothing against people smashing property toppling statues throwing bricks taking
00:03:58.340 shots at schools and uh just being all around dicks okay so whether you believe in the convoy or not
00:04:05.420 or you believe in what justin trudeau did and he's the fine fine leader you can thank the cbc for some of
00:04:12.340 that bullshit ladies and gentlemen honestly you can thank them for some of their tongue-in-cheek
00:04:16.960 uh basically bag licking and boot licking uh for the almighty dollar they also get a few bucks every
00:04:23.780 year when it comes to programming okay now what gets me is the cbc last year had to lay off so many
00:04:30.680 people it was like 800 people and yet all these executives got bonuses interesting right and now
00:04:36.820 here comes mr carney with his infinite wisdom saying what he's going to do with the cbc now i got a little
00:04:41.660 video here from uh lorne gunter uh writer extraordinaire for sun media and he's got a pretty good
00:04:46.840 five minute spiel on the whole thing about cbc now as a kid and i'm sure some of you gen extras out
00:04:55.080 there along with me even even the boomers too remember watching cbc when they actually had a
00:05:00.220 decent lineup of programming when i was a kid sunday nights were a big deal because you'd watch disney
00:05:06.140 then you either watch wayne and schuster seeing things that was one show i used to really really
00:05:11.120 like and then they used to watch danger bay and then they usually had uh beachcombers on right
00:05:17.160 and then as we got older formats kind of changed they actually had a couple of sitcoms you know a
00:05:22.760 couple of variety shows um i remember when this hour has 22 minutes actually came on the air and it was
00:05:28.680 actually pretty good it was up there with the air farce you know so there was actually some decent
00:05:33.360 comedy and some decent entertainment that came out of the cbc and decent news programs too
00:05:38.380 not just the national and the cbc news network where people want to accuse uh russian uh interference
00:05:44.880 and uh uh misogyny and racism uh all that other bs okay it was actually fun to watch cbc you know you
00:05:54.960 watch the local station then you watch the national okay you'd watch uh i think cblt out of toronto
00:06:00.760 that used to be what my parents and i would watch when i was growing up and he used to watch uh cfto
00:06:06.760 out of the ctv affiliate out of toronto too so there's a contrast and then when i moved closer
00:06:12.840 to toronto i used to watch city tv quite a bit because they usually had better programming
00:06:16.260 okay just off the wall stuff uh they were affiliated with much music at the time too so they're in the
00:06:22.820 same studio i think that studio now is used by ctv if i'm not mistaken anyhow i'm going off the
00:06:28.200 tangent here cbc is a shit show okay especially during the convoy uh how many reporters from the
00:06:37.540 cbc canada wide were actually saturated in with the truckers during that convoy that three weeks
00:06:42.760 in february 2022 how many of them were there saturated with the truckers okay
00:06:48.080 how many of the ctv and global too just reporting outside of it and just talking here and there
00:06:59.640 whatever you know i mean so a lot of it was bs so i'm going to queue up the lauren gunter video here
00:07:05.780 shortly ladies and gentlemen for your listening pleasure okay and just a reminder too if you like

00:08:18.660 and that's right ladies and gentlemen welcome back to the podcast you're watching teachable moments
00:08:26.540 episode 359 of the christian podcast that's right teachable moments because mr carney said that peter
00:08:33.340 uh you know was just joking but it's a teachable moment that you know he learned something and
00:08:38.360 ironically enough mr ching stepped down right and it seems like the conservatives are kicking people
00:08:43.020 out left and right too now aaron gunn i watch his channel he's quite the informative lad he's got a lot
00:08:48.440 of respect for our troops for our veterans in canada galore and they're trying to ride his butt
00:08:53.820 because of uh apparent residential school denialism i'm not going to get into that because i don't deny
00:09:01.420 what happened but i'm a firm believer in truth and reconciliation and it starts with the truth
00:09:05.740 and i'll just leave it at that ladies and gentlemen anyhow here's this video from lauren gunter
00:09:09.960 when he talks about carney and the say-by-say it's interesting because i i just like his style
00:09:15.940 ladies and gentlemen no i like what he has to say i just like what mr gunter's approach is when it comes
00:09:21.940 to uh getting the words out there for everyone and i'll keep the captions up for you uh folks so
00:09:28.680 you can read along in case you can hear i'll make sure the volume's adjusted accordingly and uh we'll
00:09:32.720 just go from there ladies and gentlemen well self-explanatory like even that shitting grin on his face look at
00:09:38.740 his face he can't even tell the truth if you paid him to all right you decide elected my government
00:09:44.180 will take action to enshrine and protect and strengthen cbc radio canada for generations
00:09:51.720 to come during week two of the current federal election prime minister mark carney was in
00:09:57.540 montreal while he was there he announced that if the liberals are re-elected they will immediately
00:10:03.180 increase the cbc's budget by 150 million dollars a year it's already at 1.4 billion dollars he's going
00:10:12.280 to add 150 million to that and he said maybe we'll even increase it more but not only that carney said
00:10:20.780 they would make the cbc's budget statutory we will not only increase cbc radio canada's funding by
00:10:29.600 150 million dollars but we will also make this funding statutory meaning that parliament as a
00:10:36.280 whole will need to approve any future changes to its funding not just the cabinet that means it would
00:10:43.260 be entrenched in law it couldn't be changed without an act of parliament what they're really trying to do
00:10:51.900 is entrench the cbc's one-sided pro-liberal propaganda forever the cbc works in favor of the
00:11:02.340 liberals not as though the prime minister phones up to president of cbc and says hey we need you to do say
00:11:07.780 this and that for us their mindsets are so alike the cbc doesn't have to be told to do what the
00:11:14.100 liberals like they just like what the liberals like all the time and their reporting shows that bias
00:11:20.780 just earlier this year two liberal cabinet ministers pascal saint-alange who was the heritage minister at
00:11:29.320 the time and melanie jolly who was the foreign affairs minister both said the cbc is not just
00:11:35.860 important for canadian culture it's not but that's a common belief cbc is not just important for canadian
00:11:43.080 culture it's not just important in combating misinformation it's not i think the biggest sources
00:11:50.560 or one of the biggest sources of misinformation in canada is the cbc
00:11:54.520 but both saint-alange and jolly both both of them said the cbc is also essential to our national
00:12:04.420 security what are we going to send cbc okay what was that essential to national security
00:12:13.400 so what are we going to do give the enemy fucking reruns of beachcombers
00:12:17.100 oh fraggle rock oh i'm scared he reporters to the border to protect us against american intrusion
00:12:24.860 like what do they mean i mean they've become so obsessed with the cbc and how marvelous it is
00:12:32.120 and what a wonderful institution it is that it rivals parliament and the judiciary
00:12:36.980 and it rivals all sorts of other major canadian institutions they're so enamored of the cbc
00:12:45.760 that they've actually convinced themselves the cbc has a role to play in national security
00:12:51.400 it's insane i think a free press has a role to play in a democracy but the cbc has said
00:13:01.020 it's essential to canadian democracy it the cbc is essential to canadian democracy so essential
00:13:08.100 that when it was asked to divulge the salaries of its major executives it's oh no we couldn't do
00:13:14.660 that it would be a threat to canadian democracy how in heaven's name do you start to believe that
00:13:21.100 about yourself it's insane to say that the cbc needs a 10 increase in its budget which is already
00:13:29.220 1.4 billion and the cbc television is watched by fewer than five percent of canadian radio is listened
00:13:37.120 to by fewer than 10 percent of canadian the cbc is no longer as it likes to say the way canadians tell
00:13:43.780 their stories to one another because nobody's watching and almost nobody's listening it is an elite
00:13:50.940 luxury it is something that the elite in canada who run things the establishment in the liberal party
00:13:59.720 the establishment in ottawa likes to listen to it because it's an echo chamber it it reinforces their
00:14:06.860 own views and their own values it is hostile to lots of other regions and lots of other values and it
00:14:14.060 should be defunded but if you want to know how little will change between the trudeau government
00:14:21.020 and the carney government simply take a look at mark carney's announcement that he would increase the
00:14:26.220 cbc budget by 10 as soon as he became prime minister as soon as his government was re-elected another 10
00:14:33.340 for the cbc i don't want it for post media i'm lauren gunter
00:14:38.560 yeah really ladies and gentlemen like what what is the sense what is the sense of giving another 10
00:14:48.640 percent what do they produce well you heard pascal saint-aige i know she stepped down who knows she
00:14:56.080 might surprise everybody like anita arnand and freaking sean fraser and come back and try to get a seat
00:15:00.600 for the way of power that these liberals want so desperately but what i get into that was uh
00:15:06.360 mr carney's thing if you're able to buy the cbc you will watch it you will like it it's part of our
00:15:11.080 culture part of our identity you have all that it'd be mandated in parliament to fund it to the show
00:15:17.100 yes to fund all the tv for canadians to watch because it's part of our security yeah that's the way i
00:15:24.300 look at it government sanctioned television you've watched this and like it you have all
00:15:30.600 right how else do you explain it oh we have to keep this as part of our culture yeah nobody's
00:15:36.400 nobody's ever said this whole campaign pierre pauliev hasn't said scrap the cbc he says to fund
00:15:42.280 it for very good reasons okay i agree with him to fund it because they're biased they are very biased
00:15:49.160 because they dare not bite the hand that feeds them but instead of the kissing the ass the government
00:15:53.660 they should be kissing the ass of people like me like you other viewers out there they want to watch
00:15:59.520 some good fucking television no now we do have choices here in canada but the government's
00:16:05.320 trying to screw with that too netflix tax amazon tax taxes taxes taxes taxes and more taxes for
00:16:12.880 what you want to watch on television oh my what a shit show and now everybody's up in arms and
00:16:18.580 especially i'm not going to diss my parents generation my parents especially they don't
00:16:22.320 really watch a lot of cbc i have a couple uncles and aunts that watch cbc because they like
00:16:26.260 watching um murdoch mysteries that's not a bad tv series but they should get the period pieces right
00:16:32.320 you know i mean look at the source material and do a little more research uh from toronto of the
00:16:38.060 early 1900s you know when canada was still a colony yes yes they still got the british influence
00:16:43.340 oh yes of course but fucking get on with it okay ctv could smarten up global could smarten up you know
00:16:51.000 like there's a lot of channels in this country that do offer canadian content but you got to pay for it
00:16:56.260 that's where it gets difficult because not everybody can afford an extra 10 15 a month to
00:17:01.480 watch good canadian content so if these guys are serious about what they want then maybe they
00:17:07.120 should get off their asses and produce some kick-ass fucking canadian tv stay updated and follow
00:17:13.580 crusty canuck on facebook twitter gap telegram youtube and podbean subscribe today and donate at
00:17:26.260 and you're back ladies and gentlemen episode 359 teachable moments of the crusty canuck podcast
00:17:31.200 oh the elections looming all the drama oh my god hi everybody i'm your host crusty canuck welcome
00:17:35.300 back if you like and hear what you see click like subscribe share this content all over your social
00:17:39.520 media platforms do not be shy ladies and gentlemen just try to be realistic and be honest with
00:17:43.880 yourselves give me a thumbs up give me a comment let me know where you are where you're watching
00:17:47.520 from in the world today if you see this on the tube or anywhere else for that matter too
00:17:51.000 uh my host page uh gives me uh insight and where people are watching i just noticed the other day
00:17:56.760 uh france is watching switzerland denmark philippines my friends in the states and it's it's getting
00:18:02.580 bigger it's because of wonderful people like you that make this happen too so give yourselves a round
00:18:06.420 of applause
00:18:06.940 you guys are awesome keep it up you know help a guy uh help a connect like myself out
00:18:15.820 right i had a question the other day uh in regards to my headwear and i do have a variety of hats
00:18:21.420 because i am bald by the way i started shaving my head oh god back in uh 2009 it was just kind of
00:18:27.860 creeping backwards you know some people have a receding hairline you know mine was receding
00:18:32.200 backwards i got the homer simpson thing going on there so i had a few jibby jabs from friends of
00:18:36.960 mine and jabs here and i said fuck it i just started shaving it right but this hat is a keppy uh hat
00:18:42.700 uh it's based on the u.s civil war the union army i used to have crossed rifles on here but i actually
00:18:48.720 lost them while moving i packed my hats in one big box and life made it where those crossed rifles
00:18:54.240 went to but this was a gift from my father when he was in arizona and he asked me if i wanted a blue
00:18:59.080 or a gray one and i'm just like uh blue one place because of history not that i'm disenfranchising
00:19:05.380 history per se i just won't wear a gray one that's just me though uh not that it's it holds any
00:19:11.900 animosity towards anybody in particular i just prefer the blue one and i have a couple of caps
00:19:17.660 from my days in the military and of course the old-fashioned crusty connect toque which i'm
00:19:22.340 thinking about making in my merchandise eventually so once i get a few more funds get things built up
00:19:28.140 squared away squared away and paid off then i can focus more on the merchandise aspect too there is a
00:19:33.860 link in my description for crusty connect t-shirts and caps if you want to as a customized girl just click
00:19:38.940 on the link and you find yourself some crusty connect swagger i used to have a variety of items
00:19:43.280 but they canceled some of those items for some reason that they weren't selling i don't know
00:19:46.760 anyway that's my shop for now until i change stores anyway carrying on teachable moments you can see a
00:19:51.660 teachable moment right there what lauren gunter presented to you and how mark carney was talking
00:19:55.860 about how we're going to do this for the cbc and i'll pass it all we're talking about the same thing
00:20:01.580 too now teachable moment is not to trust them if you have to rely on tv network or a television station
00:20:08.240 or a broadcast unit to protect your security then you're thinking of the world totally different
00:20:13.580 than what i am okay it's not the television to do that for you you as a viewer you as a consumer
00:20:20.300 you decide what you want to watch in tv and they keep harping about the cbc being a staple in canadian
00:20:26.500 culture will then promote canadian culture not the woke isms promote canadian culture
00:20:31.820 how about go out and hire some writers look around at all the film campuses around the country
00:20:37.520 all the creative schools propose to a student or two or three or amateurs to submit some kind of
00:20:46.220 screenplay for a sitcom submit a screenplay for a drama submit a screenplay for a sci-fi show
00:20:52.940 if the cbc wants to get all this money then they should be spending it on creating and developing
00:20:58.840 great television not lining the pockets of executives who might live in the states part-time
00:21:04.700 in canada for the rest of the time huh and actually hire some journalists that can have a very very
00:21:11.900 unbiased approach just like the old show uh the fifth estate used to have at one time
00:21:16.980 you see a show like that anymore not really ctv used to have a show called w5 is it still on i
00:21:24.140 don't know i see bits and pieces of it i thought it was going to be canceled but they bring it back
00:21:28.780 again i don't know right at global used to have a 16 by 9 which was hosted by uh oh i can't remember
00:21:35.820 her name but that used to be a decent show right you see there's got to be more to canadian broadcasting
00:21:41.680 than just the love of hockey or the love of this create something right crave tv has some good shows
00:21:50.620 but i'm not paying for it you know what i mean why should i pay for my own content why should i pay for
00:21:56.160 something that's being made in the next city over here or the next province you want to make money
00:22:01.960 it's all how you advertise it look at the american model look at the british model learn from that build
00:22:06.700 create you don't need a fucking communications degree to figure it out look at the market what
00:22:12.220 people want to watch ideally when you get home from from work or from a long day you want to turn
00:22:17.380 the tv on and shut the world off you just want to see something different you want to have some laughter
00:22:22.120 you want to see some drama you want to be entertained you want to see a monster movie you want to see a
00:22:26.900 zombie movie god that genre is being overdone for fuck's sakes but i think you know what i'm getting
00:22:32.060 here ladies and gentlemen you know what point i'm getting at here okay so when these politicians
00:22:37.820 are veying for votes to keep the cbc going they should think about what the cbc is doing and what
00:22:43.500 it's done they've proven the biased right every time they have their little panels they have experts
00:22:49.340 what's their expertise in half of them haven't been out anywhere outside of montreal or toronto for
00:22:55.920 most of their fucking lives they fail to understand the rest of the nation okay
00:23:00.780 that's something to think about a lot of them have proven their bias especially during the convoy
00:23:06.440 and it should it should have woken a lot of people up to that but what does it matter right
00:23:12.920 so when you watch these programs pay attention to what they're trying to display
00:23:18.920 you know they want to make everything inclusive but they want to include a minimal part of society
00:23:24.860 they want to include this include that but they do it to to pander they don't do it
00:23:30.440 if i want to watch a tv show i want to be entertained i don't want to be pandered to
00:23:34.720 right here's an idea write a sitcom about guys in the military that would sell that actually give
00:23:41.620 the viewers some insight and how our military operates too right because canada has never
00:23:47.600 really commercialized a lot of our history like our friends to the south now i'm not disney united states
00:23:52.840 i love you guys okay i'm getting sick and tired of this canada versus usa bullshit i really am it's
00:23:59.800 getting old really fucking quick but and another thing we can learn from that you know let's make
00:24:05.940 a sitcom about life in petawawa or life in a fictional base in some fictional town
00:24:10.500 right that's an idea why can't we have a version of uh ain't half eight half hot mum if you remember
00:24:18.460 that show the windsor davis oh dear so sad never mind right the old soldier major right an excellent
00:24:25.620 sitcom by the way but uh you know little things little ideas but we shouldn't have to mimic anything
00:24:31.020 we can create our own like i said i'm aspiring screenwriter i've got some short stories written i got
00:24:36.760 a couple of screenplays written i'm trying to submit a series for approval you know and i think
00:24:42.680 my audience would probably like it too let's just say if you're an 80s cop show fan you'll probably like
00:24:47.740 it you know it's got drama it's got sex it's got desire and violence oh my so we'll talk about that
00:24:55.560 later maybe some other episode ladies and gentlemen but needless to say it's the cbc's own fault it's ctv's
00:25:02.100 own fault every three uh every three of the major networks in this country get government funding
00:25:08.200 the cbc gets most of it to the tune of 1.4 billion dollars now mr carney wants to throw another 150
00:25:14.760 million dollars in the name of security and identity you want to throw that money away throw it into a
00:25:20.780 proper canadian identity and the lives of everybody in this country not just the lives of a handful of
00:25:25.940 journalists or people that might relate all canadians it's that simple anyhow ladies and
00:25:32.420 gentlemen i'm in crusty canuck in this beautiful fifth of april 2025 a beautiful saturday day

00:26:02.560 take time and work and effort and i'm starting to feel the sting of the inflation ladies and gentlemen
00:26:09.900 and i'm not saying you must give but if you feel like giving please do if not then i'll keep this

00:26:23.480 unless i'm offered a great deal or offered a pay per episode kind of thing we'll we'll talk about it
