00:06:13.700 interior ministry says nearly 2,400 people were arrested. Civic buildings were targeted by

00:06:20.160 protesters in many cities, including Lille and Marseille. And in Lyon, a tourist office was set

00:06:26.400 ablaze amid multiple clashes and looting. In Limoges, the 19th century town hall was badly

00:06:33.700 damaged by fire. The biggest protests were in Paris, where more than 100,000 people took to

00:06:39.540 the streets. Police used tear gas and water cannon to disperse the crowds. Shops were damaged and

00:06:46.000 some were looted. Daylight revealing the extent of the destruction. Here's our Paris correspondent,
