In this episode, Republican Rep. Randy Fine of Florida joins us to discuss the recent shooting of two National Guardsmen outside the White House, and the impact of immigration and the war in Afghanistan, as well as the recent decision by President Trump to temporarily suspend immigration from other countries.
00:01:56.940You can't know what's in someone's heart, and you can't know what's in someone's mind.
00:02:03.000And so we should not be importing people from countries that hate America, saying, oh, they don't have a criminal record, therefore they're going to be fine.
00:02:13.660That doesn't tell us what's in their soul.
00:02:16.260And so we need to lock down our borders.
00:02:18.040President Trump's done a great job on illegal immigration, but I've started to think the left flooded us with illegals to distract us from the real flood, which was legal immigration.
00:02:28.220We need people in this country who love America, share our values, want to assimilate, and don't want free stuff.
00:02:34.200And that is not our immigration system today.
00:02:36.240We'll tap into more on the immigration conversation in a moment.
00:02:39.240But I wanted to kind of follow up with you.
00:02:40.860How would you respond to somebody who argues that we owe some sort of debt to those who collaborated with American troops and help us fight against the Taliban and other enemies of ours?
00:02:51.880And if we don't help out these types of people, then in the future it will be more difficult to find people who are willing to collaborate with U.S. troops.
00:02:59.560But maybe we could have sent them to a Muslim country that, I mean, maybe they needed to get out of Afghanistan, but there are 56 other Muslim countries around the world.
00:03:08.040Maybe we could have asked Indonesia to take them on, the world's most populous Muslim country that's not known for massive amounts of Muslim terror.
00:03:14.380So I think there is a legitimate thought.
00:03:18.020If you helped us, maybe we have to take care of you.
00:03:20.120Does that mean we have to bring them here?
00:03:38.660And this kind of touches on the legal and illegal immigration topic that we were mentioning earlier.
00:03:43.780Well, that Truth Social post may be the most consequential of his presidency to deal with the greatest challenge facing us in our country, which is immigration.
00:04:00.200Zohar Mandami got blown out in the election by natural-born New Yorkers, people who were born here, whether they were Republican, Democrat, black, white, Asian, Hispanic.
00:04:10.740It was people who just arrived who elected him.
00:04:14.060Now, if the people showing up in your country, they should be voting the same as the people who are already here.
00:04:19.720Whether they're liberal or conservative, it should mimic that.
00:04:22.720And if you're not, it means you're bringing in people who are changing the complex of your country.
00:04:26.400That's not the purpose of immigration.
00:04:28.360Our immigration system right now is filled with people who hate America, who do not share our values and want to change it, who do not seek to assimilate.
00:04:43.460And so we need immigrants, if we're going to have them at all, who love America, share our values, want to become part of the American melting pot, and don't want anything for free.
00:04:53.800If you come here for freedom and opportunity, I'm willing to have that discussion if you say I love America.
00:04:59.500If you come here for free stuff, stay at home.
00:05:08.940I'm looking at a Wall Street Journal editorial that says,
00:05:11.600Afghan refugees shouldn't be blamed for the violent act of one man.
00:05:15.020Collective punishment of all Afghans in the U.S. won't make America safer, and it might embitter more people against the United States.
00:05:22.060What's your response to that kind of sentiment?
00:05:23.900You know, the same sort of people who write that say that it's better that 100 people go free from prison than one guilty person, than one innocent person be held in prison.
00:05:34.880How many Americans are they willing to sacrifice on the altar of suicidal empathy?
00:05:44.220Now I want to pivot to legal immigration.
00:05:46.660I feel like this is one of those issues that's actually been one of the things dividing parts of the Republican Party, particularly H-1B visas.
00:05:54.160We have roughly 700,000 active H-1B visas currently in our country.
00:05:59.140About 70% of them are Indians, and it's predominantly disproportionately in the tech industry.
00:06:05.740Some parts of the tech industry support the president.
00:06:08.800I know Vivek Ramaswamy, Elon Musk have said positive things about H-1B visas in the past.
00:06:13.700Other people in the MAGF movement have said this, undercuts American workers.
00:06:17.960What's your reaction to all this H-1B stuff?
00:06:19.920This is legal immigration that's still having unintended consequences for the American workers.
00:11:10.640If there were to be a conflict that did break out in Venezuela, do you think the Americans should accept any refugees coming out of Venezuela?
00:11:37.600And just to follow up on the strikes, the reason I really wanted to focus on that a little bit more was because there are many Democrats who are saying that if the reporting from the Washington Post is true, they're accusing the Secretary of War of potentially committing war crimes.
00:11:50.800And I believe it was Admiral Bradley, who Pete Hexth named, is doing it.
00:11:55.180So there's the senator from Connecticut, Van Hollen, who said this could potentially be viewed as war crimes.
00:12:34.760One last topic that I wanted to hit on is that, I don't know if it's everybody, but definitely people on the right feel as though it's open season on them.
00:12:43.780We're coming off the heels of Charlie Kirk being murdered in cold blood.
00:12:47.280And then there's these other two National Guardsmen.
00:12:50.540It seems as though law enforcement people are willing to say that Iser Gestapo, in the case of Tim Walz, is the common line among the Democrats.
00:12:57.420I just wanted to get, what's your reaction to those who feel as though it is open season on those on the right, and particularly on Charlie Kirk's passing recently?
00:13:06.280Can I get your reaction to that stuff?
00:13:09.660Look, there are three people who have been arrested for making threats against me.
00:13:13.080There's a meaningful percentage of the left who believes that violence is acceptable.
00:13:17.800I've filed all kinds of bills on this.
00:13:19.380I've filed a bill that will basically throw you in jail for the rest of your life if you get in the way of ICE.
00:13:23.800I mean, keep in mind, what's ICE trying to do?
00:13:25.660They're trying to deport foreign invaders, and these people want to stop it.
00:13:29.980We have—I wish I could tell you I was incredibly optimistic and bullish on the future of our country.
00:13:35.720I am not, because a meaningful percentage of the country hates it and wants to destroy it and believes in using any means necessary to do it.
00:13:42.720So those people who are concerned have every right to be, and, of course, that's why we have a Second Amendment.
00:13:47.240Absolutely. I also think it's worth mentioning that some of the loudest voices on the right suspect that there is some foul play when it comes to the killing of Charlie Kirk.
00:13:55.600I don't know if you've seen this, but what is your reaction to some of these voices?
00:13:59.100I'm reading a tweet from Candace Owens from earlier this morning that says,
00:14:02.880I can now say with full confidence that I believe Charlie Kirk was betrayed by the leadership of Turning Point USA and some of the very people who eulogized him on stage.
00:14:11.140She's a delusional idiot. I don't really pay attention to what she has to say.
00:14:15.060What do you—do you think there's a sense of these conspiracies?
00:14:20.660People—it's not on the right. Conspiracy theories are everywhere.
00:14:23.500I think people try to telegraph things onto things that aren't the case.
00:14:27.460I mean, what happened to Charlie, sort of—I mean, it's a horrible story, but someone who was radicalized into transgender stuff went nuts and shot him.
00:14:36.480I mean, the story in and of itself is terrible enough.
00:14:39.220I don't think we have to make up wacko conspiracy theories in order to do it.
00:14:43.660But I think it is justified that people feel concerned about what happened to Charlie Kirk. It was terrible.
