01:27:11.420 presence of the government in the area and who are putting up armed resistance now in the past uh rounds

01:27:16.940 of violence it ended with negotiated settlements and the government agreed to pull out and to give the

01:27:22.860 jews fighters some level of uh of autonomy this time around they have managed to secure much of sweda

01:27:29.660 city and you know this advance really coincided with these strikes so israel is really giving that

01:27:35.580 message uh to uh to the government to pull back if indeed uh the government pushes in they're going to

01:27:42.300 have to reach some sort of local agreement with with the people of this area so you know a lot of

01:27:48.300 challenges ahead security challenges uh you know making sure that the different communities in syria

01:27:54.940 because this is really a divided country feel that they are safe and they have their rights and there's

01:28:00.380 many different like groups guys you got the sunni muslims you got shia muslims there you got bedouins

01:28:04.220 you got um druz like there's so many different um and this is why syria has had so many problems

01:28:09.180 and so many civil wars because there's so many different sects of um of groups of people

01:28:13.740 that has created conflict and all this plus facing now uh an external actor which has directly

01:28:21.740 involved itself aka israel in in what was a local conflict and uh zayna have we heard anything and

01:28:29.100 that's by design they're not coming in to save the jews they're coming in to further uh create chaos

01:28:35.340 from the syrian uh government over the course of the last uh few hours because we've had these strikes

01:38:36.620 before but it seems like uh israel has been adamant to um put its dominance over internal politics in

01:38:45.020 syria and especially the southern front uh not only security but now from what i understand guys

01:38:51.340 just so you know this all started from a robbery that went down where i think a druz owned

01:38:59.660 business or market was robbed by some um sunni muslims out in uh syria or shiites one of the two

01:39:07.340 and that's kind of how this all erupted from what i've been told who knows but that's what that's what

01:39:12.620 that's what the story that i've heard for many it attempts to uh it continued to uh cause uh havoc

01:39:22.380 and chaos uh as as it pertains to domestic politics in syria uh so it refuses the uh right of the central

01:39:29.980 and just so you guys know the syrian conflict by far is probably one of the most complex uh

01:39:35.580 complex conflicts in the middle east because there's so many different sects that have different

01:39:40.060 motives and um allegiances and alliances with different countries in different areas so uh this

01:39:47.580 is by far one of the most complex conflicts in the middle east and this is good for israel

01:39:53.500 we'll talk about that in a little bit as well government to control all uh pockets all areas

01:39:59.820 geographies and it continues to want to impose its own rule uh and and you know there are rumors

01:40:05.660 obviously now of a land encouraging an additional land encouraging more conditions uh placed on damascus

01:40:13.820 when its uh only aim was to actually separate between the bedouins that have attacked people of

01:40:20.380 sweda and to protect civilians uh that has been at least the announced uh declaration by the ministry

01:40:26.380 of interior and the ministry of defense and am i why do you think they're doing this i mean to what

01:40:32.300 end uh okay so yeah so i i just fact checked myself i'm correct guys so basically one of the key

01:40:39.100 trigger events was on july 11 2025 when a druz merchant was robbed and humiliated at a bedouin run

01:40:44.220 checkpoint leading to a tit-for-tat kidnapping and attacks between the two groups these local disputes

01:40:49.500 escalated into broader sectarian violence with the syrian observer for human rights uh reporting

01:40:54.140 over 200 deaths including jews fighters civilians but doing in syrian security forces so it did go

01:40:59.740 uh it was it was a robbery and an embarrassment so that led to um problems and then uh obviously

01:41:06.460 the jews this don't trust ahmed al-shara the new leader of syria uh the guy that was former

01:41:10.780 al-qaeda remember that dude jolani um yeah they don't trust him either so this this is uh one of

01:41:16.220 the things that precipitated this conflict as i've been discussing with previous guests uh there were

01:41:21.900 attempts at back channel talks uh going on being pushed by the uae and others between israel and

01:41:28.140 syria to come to some sort of uh normalization agreement so why why put that behind them

01:41:37.580 i mean as president trump said israelis are not acting out of any rational thinking and they are not

01:41:43.820 acting based on any logic of an end game or an end result uh no one really knows what their end

01:41:50.460 result there is no logic to this uh there is no clear objectives of uh the the objective is to keep

01:41:57.180 the middle east destabilized and weak that is that is the objective this operation uh signals to

01:42:03.340 damascus don't come to uh don't don't touch the druz in sweda okay what then uh what's the end result

01:42:10.140 really this is uh the puzzling part is that the syrian government has shown tremendous amount of

01:42:15.980 self-restraint uh during the past nine months uh on all the encouragements and the occupation and

01:42:22.860 the additional attacks by the israelis while the israelis have shown no absolutely not even a rational

01:42:29.820 position uh on at least respecting uh sovereignty of of the state or the ability of the state the right of

01:42:37.340 the state to uh protect all civilians to include all civilians to uh you know make sure that uh security

01:42:45.980 is controlled uh all over the territory um this is really unexplainable and i mean there are many

01:42:53.260 theories on this but um the end result doesn't seem to be clear um the same like all of their uh you know

01:43:00.940 adventurous uh wars uh in the region uh had no specific objective or an end result to it so what

01:43:08.540 do you make of the timing then of these recent attacks uh particularly the ones that we've seen

01:43:13.100 today on the presidential palace uh and the the military yeah guys this literally was going down

01:43:20.380 just a couple hours ago this is all fresh news like uh as of today i mean it's a clear message to

01:43:25.980 the syrian government that the israelis are not going to be silent the israelis will not allow

02:12:15.820 ground campaign in gaza okay they begin the invasion of lebanon uh into southern lebanon all right and

02:12:22.860 what ends up happening is there were weeks of fighting between the israelis and hezbollah okay and

02:12:28.860 the purpose for this invasion for the israelis perspective the objective was to get rid of the um hezbollah

02:12:35.340 strength and power in southern lebanon because from southern lebanon they were shooting rockets

02:12:39.660 into israel and this is creating a lot of problems for uh israel because um haifa and always other

02:12:45.580 areas were being evacuated something like 60 000 israelis were displaced because after october 7th

02:12:50.540 happened every day after october 7th hezbollah would launch rockets into northern israel and they did

02:12:55.260 this from a military strategic perspective because they wanted to draw idf forces out of gaza to force

02:13:01.580 them on their northern front okay and we all know well some of you might know this anyone that's in

02:13:07.260 the military understands that fighting a war on two fronts is very bad okay so this was a strategic move

02:13:13.260 by hezbollah to weaken idf forces as they went into gaza so they couldn't send the full force and

02:13:18.780 full might of the idf into gaza so once um and it slowed down their operations so once um the idea

02:13:27.100 finished up in rafa right and killed uh a guy named yaya senwar this dude right here

02:13:49.820 kind of the um as the marker because shortly after killing him they began the invasion of lebanon this

02:19:49.020 back here to um going back here israel needed to be able to get into iran or close to it to be able to

02:20:02.140 hit the targets that they wanted to when syria was fell this allowed it where the israeli air

02:20:08.060 force would be able to utilize syrian airspace to get in now obviously they're not this isn't publicly

02:21:13.900 whole other conversation but regardless sticking to syria so jolani basically was trying to make

02:21:20.220 good with the israelis right and this was a big part of the reason why he was able to get the

02:21:24.060 sanctions lifted against him but now we see that israel is taking this um this niceness

02:21:34.540 for weakness and they're attacking syria and they're saying hey look we don't want you guys

02:21:39.580 in southern syria which obviously is is wildly invasive to them and uh disrupts their sovereignty
