The Blaze Radio Network, on demand, love, courage, truth, glad.
00:00:42.920
This happened overnight around and near the Mandalay Bay Hotel.
00:00:49.000
According to the Clark County Sheriff, more than 356 people have been injured,
00:00:55.020
transported to Las Vegas area hospitals, including trauma centers,
00:01:03.600
Now making this the most deadly shooting in American history.
00:01:09.580
This was at the close of a three-day music festival, the Route 91 Harvest Festival.
00:01:16.980
Jason Aldean was performing when the gunfire broke out.
00:01:24.580
But I want to play some of the sounds of how most people became aware that there was a shooting at all.
00:01:30.760
In the middle of the concert, which was across the street diagonally from the Mandalay Bay Hotel.
00:01:38.180
People were just enjoying it as Jason Aldean was singing.
00:01:41.940
And you can hear the gunshots from across the street diagonally.
00:01:51.560
They're not even sure what's happened until the concert comes to a stop.
00:01:57.520
Listen to their confusion as they start saying, wait a minute, is that gunshots?
00:02:07.600
Once they realize it, while he's theoretically reloading or before he begins to shoot again,
00:02:14.980
they start to get down and then it becomes clear and then all hell breaks loose.
00:02:25.680
We have the Jason Aldean music where he starts.
00:03:10.520
Here's the confusion before he begins to shoot again.
00:03:42.140
The suspect has been identified as 64-year-old Steven Paddock.
00:03:47.520
He had a room at the Mandalay Bay Hotel on the 32nd floor and began shooting around midnight
00:03:55.480
He fired hundreds of rounds before people even knew where it was coming from.
00:04:02.040
People that were in rooms several floors below said it sounded like a jackhammer as he let loose with his automatic
00:04:10.420
Eventually, police figured out what room he was in.
00:04:17.880
He is 64-year-old, again, Steven Paddock, from a local, lives in a local retirement community in the Las Vegas area.
00:04:26.820
Police believe for a while that maybe there were other shooters in Las Vegas or even in the area.
00:04:33.800
For the longest time, they were searching for a female companion of Steven Paddock's.
00:04:38.580
She has been taken into custody for questioning.
00:04:41.000
They have also tracked down two vehicles that were seen in the area that they were concerned about as well.
00:04:47.320
More details of that will likely come out over the next couple of hours or so.
00:04:52.980
I'm Doc Thompson, pinch-hitting for Glenn Beck today.
00:04:56.760
Joining me also, Chris Cruz from the Morning Blaze and our buddy Cal, who's spinning the dials radio style,
00:05:02.600
also part of the Morning Blaze crew on the Blaze Radio Network.
00:05:06.840
We're on the air before Glenn every day on the Blaze Radio Network, theblaze.com slash radio,
00:05:15.480
As soon as I got up early, early this morning before the program, and we're on 6 to 9, so I get up about 3 o'clock,
00:05:25.060
At first, it was just two people reported dead.
00:05:30.360
And that seemed pretty low, given the circumstances.
00:05:33.520
And then within minutes, they said, no, no, 20.
00:05:36.140
Now it's up to 50 and likely will climb higher.
00:05:38.240
However, the Strip is still completely closed off as sun begins to come up over the Las Vegas Strip.
00:05:44.660
They'll likely get more information in the darkness.
00:05:47.160
It's hard to, you know, get all the little details of who was shot and where.
00:05:51.500
But we do know Las Vegas McCarran Airport is now reopened for a while.
00:05:56.160
They had stopped flights, and they're going to try to piece everything together.
00:06:01.220
We know there were some police officers at the concert from Bakersfield, California.
00:06:05.700
One of them was shot. His condition is unknown to me at this point.
00:06:11.400
If you want to join the program, 727-BECK, 888-727-BECK.
00:06:19.620
You can also follow me on Twitter, at DocThompsonShow.
00:06:27.480
If you want to use the hashtag, What I Learned Today, we use that.
00:06:30.040
If you want to tweet at my buddy Chris Cruz, it's at RealChrisCruz.
00:06:32.700
One of the facts, actually, we just got Kyle just told him over the ear that they found that the shooter shot himself before the police officer got to him.
00:06:44.960
We knew that they had stormed the room, and we thought police had shot him, but he shot himself.
00:06:54.680
Why was something like this possible in this man's head?
00:06:59.580
Obviously, if you can do something like this, there is some sort of mental instability.
00:07:05.940
I don't know how you could do something like this without being mentally unstable.
00:07:10.460
Well, isn't that like the question of, like a million-dollar question?
00:07:13.600
Why do people just snap and grab a gun and just start shooting down little kids, you know, right this?
00:07:21.000
You got also the same one that happened in, you know, Orlando, and I was over there.
00:07:27.140
So, you can't figure out what it is, but at the same time, it is this, incidents like this should unite us that, you know, it doesn't matter where we are or who do we vote for or what we believe in, that we're Americans and we're humans.
00:07:41.620
It's, and we just start coming together, even, we just saw earlier today, a hashtag is trending, gun control now, not even, the bodies are not even counted up yet.
00:07:53.680
The bodies aren't even cold, and they start with politicizing the issue.
00:07:58.480
I understand the natural reaction is when we, is to, is to try to find somebody or something to blame.
00:08:08.640
Well, we know we can blame Steven Paddock, but beyond that, people, how could, like I said, how do you, how are you able to do something like this?
00:08:20.800
But if you are going to a political issue this quickly, you are wrong.
00:08:25.420
I was planning already on this program this morning to talk about priorities and perspective, because I think that's important.
00:08:36.060
Over the weekend, the big story prior to this was the NFL players kneeling down still that crazy situation, the divide between the people that said, hey, you know, maybe you shouldn't be protesting during the national anthem.
00:08:50.800
Some people want to show respect and other people saying, hey, there's a big issue here we want to discuss.
00:09:01.740
How simple, how small, how ridiculous does some players kneeling during the national anthem seem in the midst of 50 plus people dead?
00:09:15.180
Some of them likely to succumb to their wounds.
00:09:17.160
While simply out at a concert in Las Vegas, just enjoying an open air concert on a, on a nice September, October, now October night in Las Vegas.
00:09:39.640
And I was planning on discussing that anyways, given the NFL story.
00:09:43.500
I was planning on saying, hey, this is the big story everyone's talking about.
00:09:49.260
And they're saying they're doing this because people are being shot by police officers.
00:09:52.660
But when you look at the numbers, it is small, so small by comparison to what they would have you believe.
00:10:00.460
The number of people shot by police officers and killed, and certainly those with any type of racial makeup.
00:10:08.720
By the number of other crimes, by people who die in war, or other problems we face.
00:10:35.220
You wrongly believe that police are indiscriminately killing people because of their race.
00:10:44.100
So you take a knee during the National Anthem with little regard for your fellow man and the passions they feel when the National Anthem is played.
00:11:01.400
Now, obviously they hadn't been shot during the games yesterday.
00:11:09.160
Other people are systematically tortured around the world.
00:11:12.600
We've got millions of people who've died at the hands of various regimes in North Korea.
00:11:19.820
People are systematically tortured and killed all over the Middle East.
00:11:23.840
People are sex trafficked, human trafficked here, even in America.
00:11:29.820
We face these really serious problems all the time.
00:11:34.640
And you jackass NFL players and NBA players take a knee.
00:11:49.480
Is there any NFL player or NBA player going, wait a minute, next week I'm out now.
00:11:54.760
I realized after the shooting in Las Vegas that, you know, maybe there's more priorities in America.
00:12:01.160
Within moments of this tragedy, people like Piers Morgan began politicizing it and making it a gun issue.
00:12:10.280
Piers Morgan tweeting out all kinds of gun statistics in Nevada and America, even though he's not an American.
00:12:17.240
How about cleaning up your own dirtbag country first, Piers?
00:12:26.460
Is Britain taking care of every problem, every homeless, every stabbing, every murder, every crime?
00:12:35.180
The fact that somebody was stupid enough to hire you to cover media in America does not make you an American or an expert.
00:12:42.840
And stop politicizing our tragedies for your own political and personal gain.
00:12:57.420
I get that it's natural for you to want to try to come up with some buddy or something to blame.
00:13:10.700
We'll get to solutions this morning on the program.
00:13:15.140
But I don't want this about political issues this morning.
00:13:26.900
You've got speculation, comments, a message of support for people, the victims, the family members in Vegas.
00:13:39.600
You want to discuss this later on and get to the bottom of it?
00:13:43.040
You want to talk about gun control tomorrow, later on tonight?
00:13:47.280
How about we wait till the family members are notified?
00:13:50.580
You got people waking up that have no idea that this happened, yet they have relatives that were at that concert.
00:14:02.600
This is Doc Thompson, Pinch Hitting for Glenn Beck on the Glenn Beck Program.
00:14:17.720
Doc Thompson, Chris Cruz, and Cal from the Morning Blaze Pinch Hitting for Glenn Beck today.
00:14:25.240
Sorry it couldn't be under happier circumstances, but unfortunately the most deadly shooting in American history happened just hours ago in Las Vegas.
00:14:34.020
Quick update, the number dead now at 50, and the number injured taken to local Las Vegas hospitals, including trauma centers, now at 406 and counting.
00:14:44.460
The gunman was on the 32nd floor of the Mandalay Bay Hotel, firing across an intersection diagonally.
00:14:51.160
Now, as he hung outside the window, he could fire from a 180 degree distance.
00:14:59.260
So he could go from left side to right side and spray all the way across, which he did.
00:15:04.060
He fired down onto the crowd below, people on the street, cars, but there were thousands of people diagonally across the intersection at this music concert.
00:15:19.320
And then the amount of people that weren't killed instantly is a miracle as well.
00:15:24.520
Because if you hear the audience, it's about a minute of just rapid fire.
00:15:30.120
And also we find out that he had about eight guns, eight weapons on his hotel bed as well.
00:15:41.080
He managed to get off probably thousands of rounds.
00:15:44.000
We know he fired for up to 15 minutes before they got into the hotel room.
00:15:51.420
And the Mandalay Bay Hotel is at the south end of the Strip.
00:15:56.760
McCarran Airport is across the street and beyond some other buildings.
00:16:03.200
There's some other things across the street, but it's very close.
00:16:06.240
At the north end of the Strip, you get toward downtown, so the south end.
00:16:14.500
Likely, if it hadn't been for the concert and those thousands, maybe 40,000 across, the damage would have been less significant.
00:16:32.860
You pretty much said everything I wanted to say earlier in the intro to your show.
00:16:37.740
So I live in central Massachusetts, and I'm completely surrounded by people that, you know, just, you know,
00:16:44.940
it's first thing in the morning over here, and already people are putting the political speculation on the shooting,
00:16:56.400
Whether, you know, whether the guy was doing it because he was a Trump supporter or some right-wing conspiracy theorist, whatever, you know,
00:17:03.160
it's, I'm going to this open mic tonight that my friend runs, and it's Slam Poets.
00:17:10.060
If you know anything about Slam Poets and the social justice crowd,
00:17:15.860
and I know that I'm anticipating that there's going to be a lot of people talking about gun control, and...
00:17:25.460
Well, they have a no-hate-speech policy, and...
00:17:29.980
Which, you know, I'm sure that doesn't surprise you, but...
00:17:32.960
But, you know, that would not be hate speech, because they're, you know,
00:17:37.120
they're talking against things that people on the right believe in, so...
00:17:43.320
Well, they, you know, I feel like that's, you know, when there's people that, you know,
00:17:49.800
They haven't even heard the news yet, that, you know, might have known someone or were close to somebody that was at this concert.
00:17:57.080
And, you know, I feel like that's more damaging than the so-called hate speech.
00:18:04.440
Well, I've always maintained this belief that, you know, people who are racist or sexist,
00:18:11.480
all these xenophobias that they're, you know, all these labels they're throwing out there,
00:18:18.940
that those people, you know, it's socially frowned upon to think that way.
00:18:23.780
It's, if you're a racist, you're not going to make many friends.
00:18:26.080
You know, I just don't understand why, you know, why exacerbate what is essentially a non-issue.
00:18:35.560
So, that's why, you know, Morgan Freeman always says the best way to fight racism is to just stop talking about it.
00:18:45.220
And, by the way, thank you so much for the call.
00:18:46.640
I really appreciate you joining us today in Massachusetts.
00:18:49.000
That's the key is knowing what it means to politicize an issue.
00:19:03.280
And, we'll lay out how you know if it's being politicized.
00:19:20.200
May sound simple, but how do you know if something is being politicized?
00:19:28.520
I mean, you may say, well, it's pretty obvious or whatever.
00:19:31.860
But, is it okay to discuss a tragedy after the tragedy?
00:19:42.620
Can you discuss it and assign some blame when there is blame?
00:19:46.940
Mistakes, let's say there were failures that led to it.
00:19:50.280
Like you're saying, like, maybe there was a note left by the police officers and they forgot to follow up?
00:19:58.000
And in an effort to assign blame, not just for vengeance, but to try to stop failures in the future.
00:20:07.720
I think you know when it's being politicized, if the criticisms happen, like they have already this morning, before we know all of the details.
00:20:19.320
We don't know all of the details about the shooting in Las Vegas.
00:20:36.180
Number two, if blame is being assigned without all of the facts being displayed.
00:20:44.620
Maybe a week from now, somebody points to this tragedy and blames whoever.
00:20:48.740
I don't care if they blame somebody on the left, the right, the president, past presidents.
00:20:54.000
However, if they're doing it without telling you all of the facts, without full disclosure, only letting you see a little bit of it, what that's doing is showing you they are crafting a message for you or anybody else who's viewing it, reading it, whatever, that they only want you to know a little bit in order to drive the narrative in a political direction.
00:21:19.020
That's what's been happening with Puerto Rico over the weekend.
00:21:21.700
That's what's been happening between the mayor of San Juan and the president.
00:21:26.060
We'll get to that coming up later on in the program.
00:21:29.060
But let me share with you what Piers Morgan tweeted out.
00:21:48.360
Now, worst ever U.S. mass shooting has happened in his watch.
00:21:54.500
So the worst mass shooting has happened on Donald Trump's watch.
00:22:03.240
The second now most deadly mass shooting was the Pulse nightclub.
00:22:15.980
Prior to that, the most deadly mass shooting in American history was Sandy Hook.
00:22:51.180
There could be significant facts to come out that Piers doesn't know.
00:22:57.220
But he's happy to jump to that political arena.
00:23:01.500
And then if you go down that rabbit hole of let's blame President Trump, it is his fault.
00:23:07.240
Like, seriously, why can you blame any president when a mass shooting happens like this?
00:23:13.620
It's not like Donald Trump was right there sitting next to the guy or President Obama was sitting to the other guy saying, hey, hey, are you going to push the trigger?
00:23:30.000
I think today I have made a realization about the politicizing of these issues.
00:23:34.560
That needs to be something that we discuss all the time.
00:23:38.040
We need to start calling out the politicizing of tragedy.
00:23:41.640
And I just shared with you some of the ways you know it's being politicized.
00:23:46.200
If they're not sharing all of the facts, if they're discussing and pointing the finger of who's responsible, who's to blame before we know any of the details.
00:24:06.580
On Facebook, it's Facebook.com slash DocThompsonShow.
00:24:09.380
And I'll take some messages from there as well coming up.
00:24:12.600
But first, I want to share with you some more of the sounds.
00:24:15.020
I have an audio clip of the SWAT team being called to the scene as they were trying to track down this shooter in Las Vegas on the 32nd floor of the Mandalay Bay Hotel.
00:24:27.160
The first 30 seconds or so is the audio of them trying to track him down.
00:24:31.580
And then the second immediate audio clip is them busting in.
00:24:57.040
Fully automatic fire from an elevated position.
00:25:13.920
I need everybody in that hallway to be aware of it and get back.
00:25:17.160
We need to pop this and see if we can get any type of response from this guy.
00:25:20.420
See if he's in here or if he's actually moved out somewhere else.
00:25:36.280
It's funny because I might not look like it, but I was a police officer in the military
00:25:40.420
and nothing, even hear them, you can hear them, they're nice and calm, you know, some
00:25:50.980
One thing that always, all of my trainers told me is you can never prepare yourself for
00:26:01.300
Because if you think about it right now, they were about to breach this hotel room.
00:26:04.460
What if when they breached this hotel room, there was an explosion on the other side?
00:26:14.240
What if the whole plan was to get the police officers to that side and there was other
00:26:21.320
And the best, and one of the things I always, I will never forget is at that moment is either
00:26:34.460
And those police officers already made the decisions that they were, you know, they were
00:26:37.600
going to go home at the end of the day and they would take off those boots that we call
00:26:41.900
And it's really interesting because it's all tense.
00:26:44.840
But at the same time, you know, mad props to all the SWAT team and all the first responders
00:26:50.820
And it's just fascinating that, you know, even today's world where, you know, people are
00:26:55.440
starting hitting on cops who could still look at the good things when it comes to police
00:27:01.880
There were two on-duty officers that were injured.
00:27:04.540
One of them is in stable condition after surgery.
00:27:10.580
And as I said, there was a, uh, some officers from the Bakersfield, California, that's about
00:27:15.360
four or five hours away through the desert, uh, that were just at the concert and they
00:27:20.100
ended up, uh, at least one of them ended up being shot.
00:27:22.380
So, all right, let me get some, uh, calls coming up.
00:27:31.720
Uh, what I want to say about this is I think politicians need to understand that when they try
00:27:38.740
to make political hay out of a disaster and a tragedy like this, every word that they
00:27:44.720
utter is drip is dripping and dipped in the blood of those who have fallen out there.
00:27:50.360
And it has absolutely no place in our discourse today.
00:27:54.840
And people like Chuck Schumer, who as far as I'm concerned is a dead ringer for snidely
00:28:00.700
whiplash with only without the mustache, uh, needs to stop.
00:28:06.600
Nancy Pelosi needs to stop and they're not helping.
00:28:10.920
And when they try to take advantage of something like this for their own benefit and the, and
00:28:16.380
the perceived benefit of their party, those are blood words and it needs to stop now.
00:28:23.800
I will even give some of them the benefit of the doubt.
00:28:25.940
Clearly some of them are trying to be political with this.
00:28:30.580
But there may be some that are so emotional and they just go to this in their mind, guns
00:28:34.820
are the problem or, you know, whatever political issue is out there at the time.
00:28:39.300
There's a tragedy, they may really believe that's the problem and they're so overcome
00:28:46.380
But when it's consistent from some of these people, then you realize it is planned that
00:29:04.160
I, uh, I guess I'm calling up with some more questions than, you know, I have talking
00:29:12.140
So I woke up this morning to this is most of the country that I'm sure.
00:29:15.640
Um, and I have, I'm, I'm part of this group on Facebook.
00:29:19.480
I know Facebook isn't the place to get news from.
00:29:23.040
And one of them is a, he works with the Las Vegas police department.
00:29:26.740
And I heard you, first thing I heard this morning was that, you know, it was confirmed
00:29:32.260
So there's a lot of things he can't disclose, but that there was multiple shooters, one dead,
00:29:39.180
I was just curious, is that something that's still developing or has that been set in stone?
00:29:45.640
And I'll, I'll give you Dave, what information has been confirmed.
00:29:48.620
I mean, hell, they could have 400 suspects in custody without telling us.
00:29:52.420
I mean, there could be all kinds of stuff, but from what is being reported by the Clark
00:29:55.940
County Sheriff and other local law enforcement in the area, um, is that there was one sole
00:30:02.500
perpetrator, Steven Paddock, he is 64 years of age.
00:30:05.960
He was a resident of a local retirement community.
00:30:12.120
We don't know if she was around before the shooting during, but she was not there.
00:30:17.400
And at large for a short period of time, they have since taken her into custody for
00:30:21.760
questioning, but even early on police termed it this way.
00:30:25.780
They said they believe the shooter was the sole aggressor, meaning that even if she is
00:30:30.320
somehow culpable in this, that she was not somebody who pulled the trigger.
00:30:35.280
They also had two vehicles that they were trying to track down because they thought they
00:30:39.880
Remember in the early moments of this, you start trying to gather any information and
00:30:45.740
They have since, uh, discovered, located those two vehicles and they're investigating.
00:30:52.300
If one was hers, one was his, um, or anybody else.
00:30:55.720
But so far from local law enforcement, one perpetrator, 64 year old Steven Paddock.
00:31:05.020
Um, you know, I'm, I haven't seen much so far about the, uh, everyone screaming for gun
00:31:11.040
control, which I'm sure is going to be coming any minute now.
00:31:15.180
But yeah, I'm sure I, I'm at work, so I don't pay attention to most of that crap.
00:31:21.260
So I figured I'd call, um, it, the thing is with this guy at fully automatic weapons,
00:31:26.900
um, you know, gun controls, I'm going to stop that.
00:31:29.460
You're either going to buy an automatic weapon illegally on the street, or you're going to
00:31:33.280
They don't give class three permits to anybody.
00:31:35.820
Like it's not something you can get with just the simple pack stamp.
00:31:38.300
It's not, it's not something, you know, especially like where I am in New York, you
00:31:44.780
You're not getting, you know, Dave, the best way you're right.
00:31:47.400
But the best way I think to say that this morning, and thank you so much for the
00:31:50.360
call, the best way to say that this morning is when I talked about people
00:31:53.280
politicizing things, when they don't know, or they don't share all of the
00:31:57.840
information, all of the facts, what you're sharing is fact.
00:32:01.280
Granted, it's a one perspective, but it is truly facts that they will not share.
00:32:06.380
All of those things can be discussed later today, tomorrow.
00:32:09.440
Let's make sure the families know what's going on first have been notified.
00:32:12.700
And by the way, let's get this all, um, taken care of.
00:32:20.580
Uh, one of the things you just said, uh, Donald Trump will address the nation at
00:32:29.100
And we will try to carry some of that here on the Glenn Beck program.
00:32:31.980
Quick, uh, quick break and back with more doc Thompson in for Glenn on the
00:32:47.560
Doc Thompson, Chris Cruz and Cal spinning the dials radio style in for Glenn Beck today.
00:32:57.940
Just go to the blaze radio.com the blaze radio.com.
00:33:02.680
Triple eight, 900, actually triple eight, seven, two, seven, Beck, eight, eight, eight, seven,
00:33:07.200
Just taking calls on the situation in Las Vegas.
00:33:25.200
It's kind of a heck of a way to wake up over your coffee and realize that, you know, here's
00:33:30.880
going to be another storm of controversy in the midst of a tragedy.
00:33:36.560
But I think we need to remember that no matter how a person ends up doing something like this,
00:33:45.900
I don't care whether it's the kids at the high school, this guy in the tower, you've got
00:33:52.540
people who are basically angry and on the edge of breaking because of one common factor.
00:33:59.340
We live in a high intensity, very negatively polarized society.
00:34:07.600
There, it, this has been the most nervous period in human history.
00:34:13.840
There is so much going on, so much everywhere going on, so much taken in.
00:34:21.440
And if you're living on the close of the edge, you know, it's real easy to snap.
00:34:29.500
I wanted to go up a tower with a rifle, but weren't for the love of God.
00:34:38.300
We are, we're living in a time where everybody is just so at their wits end.
00:34:48.860
I mean, some of them got Trump derangement syndrome, right?
00:34:52.060
I mean, all we know is that we all know something is very, very wrong in America.
00:34:58.180
We have different ideas on how to fix it, but we know what we're doing is not working.
00:35:23.400
I'm regularly heard on the blaze radio network, the blaze.com, the blaze radio.com.
00:35:27.600
You want to find out more, follow me on Twitter.
00:35:29.180
It's at Doc Thompson show, my buddy and cohort from the morning blaze.
00:35:32.460
Chris Cruz joining me as well as Cal is spinning the dials radio style for us as well.
00:35:36.660
Last night, just hours ago on the strip in Las Vegas, a gunman on the 32nd floor of the
00:35:42.560
Mandalay Bay hotel fired countless rounds into the crowd below, including a concert across
00:35:52.240
That number is likely to grow over 400 injured.
00:35:55.300
Just to give you the quick update, one suspect killed himself as police broke into his room.
00:36:07.520
We're not sure of their relationship was taken into custody.
00:36:11.640
We don't know if, if she's actually a suspect, if she was a part of this, if she was complicit
00:36:16.240
in this or not, but I'm sure those details will come out.
00:36:23.460
We know how awful it was for the people that were running, uh, had no idea where the bullets
00:36:29.620
They didn't know which direction to flee to get to safety.
00:36:34.780
This is now officially the deadliest shooting in American history.
00:36:38.080
It is not the deadliest attack in American history.
00:36:44.280
Obviously 9-11 after 9-11, there was of course the Oklahoma city bombing, which killed around
00:36:52.240
And 30 some kids were killed in an explosion at a school in Bath, Bath, Michigan in 1927
00:37:01.940
Just to put it all into perspective prior to today, the deadliest mass shooting in America
00:37:13.280
Our friend, John DiDomenico is a Trump supporter and entertainer who lives in Las Vegas.
00:37:18.860
We've had him on this program and our program in the past and, uh, has a little bit of perspective
00:37:23.560
what with living just, uh, I don't know, 10, 15 minutes from the Mandalay Bay.
00:37:39.680
Um, I moved here six years ago and, um, was very lucky to be part of the entertainment
00:37:49.960
And, uh, two women, uh, particularly, uh, one is a singer, one's a country singer.
00:37:59.840
I was checking Instagram yesterday and Facebook and they were having a great time and posting
00:38:05.000
And then, uh, right before I went to bed, I checked again and they said they were being
00:38:11.580
And, um, uh, the one woman, I don't want to give any names, um, for privacy, but the
00:38:27.480
Um, the woman next to them was grazed in the neck.
00:38:37.160
Uh, they went there to have a great time and they were almost killed.
00:38:43.160
So it's just a, it's just a horrible, horrible situation.
00:38:46.840
Well, John, let's look at a different perspective there.
00:38:50.580
And obviously we never want this to happen and we certainly don't want it to happen again.
00:38:55.000
But let's look at some of the, albeit small by comparison, but positive stories, the,
00:39:04.500
the stories of self-sacrifice like that, people pushing each other, pushing others out of the
00:39:08.960
way, sacrificing themselves, covering people and ended up taking a bullet and dying themselves.
00:39:15.920
And I just want to read you the line, what he, what she wrote, um, uh, a man that we did
00:39:21.660
not know laid on top of us and come covered Amy's head.
00:39:25.960
He was shot from behind the lady right next to us was grazed in the neck.
00:39:32.420
We have amazing first responders here, incredible police, ambulances.
00:39:39.520
Um, I also had, you know, I, like I said, I had multiple friends there and it's, it's,
00:39:44.640
it's beyond the fact that it's hard to believe.
00:39:48.560
Um, yeah, a lot of people rose to the occasion, uh, uh, were able to kind of be clear, move
00:39:56.740
people out, get people behind the stage, get people to safety.
00:40:00.820
So, yeah, there's, um, in these, in these moments, in these tragedies, people, uh, really
00:40:07.180
dig down and figure out a way to focus and help others.
00:40:12.720
Um, when I lived in Vegas, it was in the early nineties, uh, the Mandalay Bay wasn't
00:40:19.300
And then that end of the strip ended up developing quite a bit after I left.
00:40:27.780
So, um, Mandalay Bay is at the Southern end of the Las Vegas strip.
00:40:36.220
It's a, it's an MGM property and I'm a member of a club there.
00:40:42.560
Uh, what makes the Mandalay Bay such a great hotel is because it's the farthest end of the
00:40:48.280
You can look North and have this stunning view, uh, directly across the street.
00:40:53.000
There's this lot owned by, um, I'm assuming it's MGM, but which, where they have like the
00:40:58.420
I heart radio concert and you know, all the different things that come through town.
00:41:09.400
So when you're there on the ground, you have these amazing views of all the hotels.
00:41:14.360
And, um, uh, it, it looks, if you're in Mandalay Bay, it looks right down on it.
00:41:21.240
And it's something, Chris, it's something like 15 acres.
00:41:27.120
And, and like, like John said, you could fit, you could fit the I heart radio concert.
00:41:32.480
Or it's a, well, a lot of people do the different concerts.
00:41:35.040
And actually I did not know that the American Ninja warrior was that makes sense there.
00:41:42.020
And it's, it's just like Chris just said, it's just acres and acres and they build tons
00:41:45.660
of stages and you can move around and they have a lot of festivals there for that reason.
00:41:50.380
And also parking and accessibility and all those sorts of things.
00:41:53.220
And, uh, uh, this, this man obviously knew this was coming to town and he obviously asked
00:42:00.580
for a room on a high floor and then did what he did the unthinkable and, um, has shattered
00:42:10.320
We figured this morning, we speculated and it made a lot of sense that he likely did this
00:42:15.500
to time it when the concert was there because he's going to have thousands and thousands of
00:42:19.140
people that are at Target and that's, that's how it seems this morning.
00:42:23.240
It's interesting, John, we're looking at the, the pictures coming out of the Mandalay
00:42:26.760
Bay this morning and there are two windows on the hotel on the same floor that are broken
00:42:32.900
out, but it's interesting because the windows are dozens of those little squares.
00:42:42.080
So would one of those squares be a room or a couple of them would probably be a room?
00:42:46.860
Probably three, three of those would be a room.
00:42:49.800
So we're seeing one on kind of the point, the Mandalay Bay is kind of, uh, it has three
00:42:55.580
If you're looking at it, yeah, it's like, yeah, yeah, it's like that, um, is on like
00:43:00.400
kind of the, one of the points and then eight to 10 windows kind of down the side is another
00:43:14.360
Um, I, and this is, you know, it would seem to me that there were, there was another shooter
00:43:21.700
and I don't want to, I, yeah, the police have not confirmed that it could, it could, it could,
00:43:27.520
It could have been somebody else breaking out the window.
00:43:32.480
It's just, it's terrible, um, you know, so, but he, uh, was very, very calculated and
00:43:37.540
how he did this and timed it and his angle and all those things.
00:43:40.920
So John, I was thinking about it this morning and talking about priorities and how, for some
00:43:45.860
reason we do not prioritize what's really important.
00:43:50.440
It's easy to get pissed off at somebody in front of you in traffic or whatever.
00:43:56.480
I mean, that's, that's how it was, but just in the past couple of months, think of the
00:44:00.860
ridiculous stories that has consumed the news cycle that people have been angry about that.
00:44:07.340
When you put it next to this seems pretty shallow.
00:44:09.680
The most recent, the NFL people kneeling, people not standing as passionate as I am about
00:44:16.320
All of the statues being taken down the ESPN reporter, Robert Lee, who is denied the Dr.
00:44:22.520
Seuss books that are supposed to be racist over the weekend.
00:44:25.260
A couple of weeks ago, a sports talk host, Clay Travis saying boobs on CNN caused people
00:44:41.180
We all love this country and we're smart people.
00:44:44.360
And we're a lot of us are from the lot of people who are at each other are from a lot
00:44:49.460
of the same places and have the same, actually the same core values.
00:44:56.000
When stuff like this happens, those other things seem so trivial and actually would be
00:45:01.220
so easy to come to an agreement on or get around in some way.
00:45:12.400
We're, we're living in, you know, all this wonderful time as far as technology and all
00:45:18.220
And, but to, to see something like this, and then we're like, like you just said a few
00:45:25.120
Seuss book, it's so stupid, you know, I mean, yeah, it seems like our lives are so short and
00:45:33.420
so precious and we're wasting time screwing around with that stuff.
00:45:38.540
See John, I mean, there's no bringing back the 50 people that have been killed there.
00:45:45.460
We could still come to some reasonable converse or reasonable understanding about statues, right?
00:45:56.920
We can have that discussion because nobody's dead.
00:46:01.500
We're getting, um, we're getting tied up in, in things that are wasting our lives actually.
00:46:08.180
So it's time to kind of refocus and get back to things that are really important, like
00:46:21.540
And, um, thanks for, you know, all your prayers for Las Vegas.
00:46:25.560
And, uh, this is a great town and we're going to come back and, uh, be, would, this is a
00:46:34.180
And, uh, the police are amazing and the first responders, as I said.
00:46:39.980
What I'll do is I'll tweet out a link to John's account as well.
00:46:48.540
ISIS has claimed responsibility for Las Vegas shooting.
00:47:05.460
Cause according to the news, everybody's reporting on this.
00:47:07.680
Now they're saying that ISIS has now claimed something saying that he's been a long supporter
00:47:16.700
But I sent it to Cal cause Cal is our in-house Muslim.
00:47:20.080
He's a 64 year old white guy from a retirement community in Vegas.
00:47:32.020
If that's the case, this is a whole other, uh, this is, this is a whole new ball game.
00:47:38.460
Now it could just be that ISIS is like, we'll claim everything.
00:47:42.620
Cause I've often wondered that they claimed, uh, uh, there was a stabbing, uh, two women
00:47:47.180
were stabbed to death in France by another woman and ISIS took credit for it.
00:47:51.520
I mean, how genius is that if you're ISIS to just claim everything bad, people think
00:47:58.400
ISIS is saying the shooter converted to Islam months ago.
00:48:22.340
Quick break back with more on the Glenn Beck program.
00:48:38.340
This just in ISIS has now claimed responsibility for hurricane Maria.
00:48:52.300
They're not, that's not, they didn't do any damage.
00:49:00.380
So should Puerto Rico be going, you know, stand against Islamic terrorists?
00:49:06.140
Obviously those hurricanes are Islamic terrorism.
00:49:08.720
I mean, fundamentalists in ISIS creating those hurricanes.
00:49:17.100
Islam's responsibility for when you eat too much ice cream, you get brain freeze.
00:49:29.840
When you walk around the corner and you stop your toe on the coffee table.
00:49:38.420
So Kyle, you have the official translation of that tweet.
00:49:45.300
I don't know how reputable it is, but it's at Doc Thompson show.
00:49:56.880
Uh, the AMAC agency says the execution of the Las Vegas, uh, uh, people became, sorry,
00:50:06.380
the, uh, the, the, the shooter became a Muslim a few months ago.
00:50:13.000
Oh, it doesn't say anything else other than what I said.
00:50:14.920
No, the AMAC agency says the, the shooter became a Muslim a few months ago.
00:50:22.420
It seems, which seems more likely the guy did convert.
00:50:26.560
It went through all of this or ISIS is just claiming responsibility for something because
00:50:31.960
I think just ISIS is claiming responsibility because it's hot on the news right now.
00:50:40.280
I mean, I know you don't, you're hoping, please, I'm tired of this, right?
00:50:48.480
Well, the only reason I say that is, is not for the political nature.
00:50:51.600
I just, it would be the ultimate twist in, in an already bizarre and shocking story.
00:51:07.000
I'm just saying that would be just bizarrely interesting.
00:51:24.200
I don't know if they go with, uh, pudgy Puerto Ricans.
00:51:30.840
Maybe they have some sort of standard you can't reach.
00:51:42.820
You have been rejected from the ISIS university.
00:51:46.620
Just to not meet the standards that we are looking for.
00:51:58.900
Um, I know it's inevitable that this will be compared to the Pulse nightclub shooting,
00:52:08.020
In Las Vegas, you had a guy that had an extremely good vantage point and an extremely sheltered
00:52:16.100
There's really nothing anybody could have done from that music area to, you know, to stop
00:52:24.280
Whereas with Pulse, you had the shooter actually in the same room, vulnerable to the same extent
00:52:33.560
The irony here is that the gun control, um, worked against the victims because no one
00:52:40.760
was allowed to carry a gun in the building because it was an alcohol, you know, they served
00:52:48.420
Um, well, this is, although Chris, this is one of those scenarios.
00:52:51.100
And as much as I, I mean, I would still want a gun because you want to protect yourself.
00:52:54.880
It probably wouldn't have done a whole lot of good anyways, because he's, you know, barricaded
00:52:59.640
You'd have to have the average person with a weapon burst into the room and be able to
00:53:04.840
And most people do not have that, that skill level or would do that.
00:53:08.480
So it's, you know, it's different if it's at a concert and he's on the floor, then people
00:53:23.740
Um, this, an additional tragedy to this is that now people have come up with a new way
00:53:30.600
to inflict pain and suffering and death on people.
00:53:34.280
I have over the years, because I just have a twisted brain like that thought of all kinds
00:53:41.180
I think about it whenever I go to church, you know, I'm kneeling and praying.
00:53:45.720
And I've thought about this scenario, somebody from a high vantage point from out of Las Vegas
00:53:50.040
I've thought about it at concerts before, and I've not spoken a lot about it because
00:53:54.280
I don't want to give anybody ideas that they haven't already come up with.
00:53:57.280
But now that this is out there, does the next knucklehead go, I can do this.
00:54:04.300
And of course the media has to cover this stuff.
00:54:06.540
I'm not chastising that, but some of these kids that have shot up schools have shot up
00:54:10.580
schools because they got the idea from other kids who've shot up schools.
00:54:47.820
Got some tweets coming in at Doc Thompson Show.
00:54:53.140
ISIS requires their American terrorists speak English.
00:54:56.140
That's very offensive because I'm actually speaking English right now.
00:55:07.160
I am Corbin tweeting hashtag what I learned today.
00:55:09.100
At Real Chris Cruz doesn't qualify for ISIS recruitment because of questionable sexuality.
00:55:15.700
There's perfectly good men out there that takes care of their hands and feet like I do.

You can tweet at the program, at Doc Thompson Show, at Real Chris Cruz, and at Cal79.
00:55:36.040
If you want to know more about us, just go to theblazeradio.com.
00:55:44.220
We'll get back to some of the information on what happened in Las Vegas in a couple of minutes.
00:55:50.140
Likely, some of our affiliates will break away and carry some of that.
00:55:54.100
We're going to monitor it and see if there's anything other than standard jargon.
00:55:58.180
You know, it's still nice to hear from a president, but usually it's pretty standard-speak and, you know, the aftermath of a tragedy.
00:56:04.120
If it's worthy, we'll carry some of it in a little while, as some of our affiliates tune away and carry some of that and then tune back in.
00:56:12.440
If you miss this next segment, you're going to want to go to iTunes and listen to this program, the Glenn Beck program, because this is a guest you definitely want to hear from.
00:56:20.620
He's one of my favorite guests over the last year that we've had on the Morning Blaze.
00:56:24.140
With history as my guide, I feel comfortable in saying that we're going to cram about three interviews worth of interviews into one.
00:56:31.680
Peter Shankman, author of Faster Than Normal, Turbocharge Your Focus, Productivity, and Success with the Secrets of the ADHD Brain.
00:56:42.440
Loved having you on our morning program, because we spend a lot of time talking about entrepreneurs and ways people can better their life,
00:56:49.340
and we're all looking for some advantage to say, what can I do to make life better for my family?
00:56:54.000
And I think you may have solved some of the problems with your book.
00:56:58.720
Yeah, the problems that I've solved and the book that I wrote basically came from me having to figure out how to survive with a sort of a different brain, as it were.
00:57:07.520
I've had ADHD all my life, and when I was growing up, it wasn't ADHD.
00:57:12.780
It didn't exist in that. It was sit down, you're disrupting the class disease.
00:57:18.460
Yeah, I wasn't intentionally terrible, but my brain was always looking for those chemicals, that dopamine, that serotonin, that adrenaline, that normal people make plenty of,
00:57:27.360
and that people with ADHD are constantly hunting for, to sort of get the same level of productivity that regular people have.
00:57:35.720
Once I realized how to do it, you know, my productivity shot through the roof, and now I'm, yeah, I've started and sold three companies.
00:57:47.460
Runner, skydiver, podcaster, Ironman triathlete.
00:57:50.620
You know, you've been added to my list of people I hate because you're too successful.
00:58:03.660
Yeah, exactly, and multiple things, despite odds.
00:58:06.840
I mean, it's incredible what you've accomplished.
00:58:10.740
I mean, you know, the book comes out tomorrow, Faster Than Normal, and I wrote it basically because I started this podcast about two years ago,
00:58:17.020
interviewing other people with ADHD who, you know, are successful celebrities, CEOs.
00:58:21.880
We've had Tony Robbins, Seth Godin, Cameron Harreld, people like that, and what we found out is that, yeah, there's this sort of, you know,
00:58:31.360
There's the people who look at it as a curse and then people who understand that it actually can be a gift,
00:58:36.380
but to get there, you sort of have to set up these life rules for yourself that I've had to do,
00:58:40.800
and what I realized, what made me write the book was I realized that the life rules that I've set up are pretty much,
00:58:50.380
Anyone can use them and gain, like, a few hours of productivity or a few hours of extra time, as it were, in their day.
00:58:55.900
You know, I love when people say, oh, I don't have enough time to do that.
00:58:58.360
I'm like, well, I'm pretty sure part of the planet you're on revolves around the sun the same speed that the part of the planet I'm on does.
00:59:09.600
So, one of the reasons I like the book is not just because you've come up with a good idea here and something that will help people,
00:59:16.880
but you did it because you found a way to not only work around a problem but use that problem to your advantage.
00:59:23.960
And this is something I tell some of my coworkers here.
00:59:27.440
You've got to find a system that will work for you.
00:59:30.620
For example, I have a little bit of the ADHD, and I know that I can't stay focused all day long.
00:59:37.600
So, I don't set a rigid schedule for myself, Peter.
00:59:43.580
So, if something's normally going to take a half an hour, you know, I schedule 45 minutes for it because I know there's going to be a transition.
00:59:59.280
And I know that when I need to get work done, I have to be in a certain zone.
01:00:04.260
And the best way for me to be in a zone of focus, like to write my books, I get in an airplane.
01:00:11.600
Faster Than Normal was written on a round trip to Asia and back.
01:00:27.680
And I hung up the phone, went to the United Airlines website, booked a round trip, business
01:00:32.420
class flight to Tokyo for the next day, got on a plane with my laptop and my backpack
01:00:39.500
And I wrote chapters one through five on the flight to Tokyo, landed, went through immigration,
01:00:44.040
came back through immigration, went back to the lounge, got back on the same plane, same
01:00:48.120
seat, two hours later, wrote chapters six through 10 on the flight home, landed 31 hours
01:00:58.000
I'm like, no, I spent $5,000 to write a book in 31 hours because that's how I do it.
01:01:02.140
By the way, last minute scheduling a flight, no luggage.
01:01:09.300
I'm definitely on a list, no question about it.
01:01:10.880
But, and it's funny because, you know, when I got back, I went through, I went through
01:01:16.240
The guy says, you know, hey, where are you coming from?
01:01:18.000
And I have the, I have the global entry card, right?
01:01:19.580
I use the machine and then they take your, they take your, that little receipt and they
01:01:23.880
look at it and the guy goes, oh, how long were you in Asia?
01:01:26.140
I'm like, oh, a couple of days, a little bit of time.
01:01:29.520
And the guy's like, he looked at me straight and he goes, okay.
01:01:34.120
That's true, but I guess it didn't look threatening, but yeah, it was funny.
01:01:37.800
And the thing about it is once you understand what works for you, right, just do that.
01:01:43.100
And, and, you know, who cares what anyone else does?
01:01:45.760
It's finding the system that works for you because we all have different, uh, triggers
01:01:58.440
I mean, there are people who, you know, I, I, I can't drink right there.
01:02:01.580
I quit drinking a couple of years ago because when you have ADHD,
01:02:15.320
I, you, people order pizza, they have two slices, they put the rest in the fridge for
01:02:24.300
And so, you know, you have to learn what triggers affect you, how to avoid them.
01:02:29.200
Um, you know, what works for you and what doesn't.
01:02:30.940
And I have, um, my, my favorite thing that I tell people, I have two sides of my closet.
01:02:37.700
One side says office and travel, and that's t-shirt and jeans.
01:02:43.660
And that's a button down shirt, jacket and jeans.
01:02:46.740
My suits, my, my vests, my sweaters, they're in another closet in another room because
01:02:51.780
if I had to look at those every day to try to figure out what to wear, oh my God, that
01:03:00.440
I'm naked in the living room on Facebook and I haven't left the house.
01:03:04.180
But you've contacted Laura or at least tried to.
01:03:07.540
But you know, it's funny because I ask people, um, I go on my Twitter account, I'm at Peter
01:03:11.500
Shank, and I go, you know, tell me what you do to, to save time and, you know, the number
01:03:17.900
one answer is, hands down, is eliminate choice.
01:03:22.080
The less you can focus on stupid things to think about, the more your brain has the ability
01:03:27.100
You know, so let's have to focus on what I have to wear or, you know, clothing.
01:03:32.720
And then the decision when I wake up in the morning, I'm in my gym clothes.
01:03:36.100
The decision to go to the gym has pretty much been made for me.
01:03:38.780
See, and that's, I mean, look at, uh, it was an Einstein, I don't know if it's true or
01:03:43.180
not, but they always said he wore the same thing every day.
01:03:48.620
Obama has, you know, three suits that he wears.
01:03:50.260
It's, they eliminate choice because there are other things that are more important to
01:03:55.780
Let's say, you know what though, Peter, um, I have to wear a variety for whatever the reason
01:04:00.840
my job requires that I can't wear only, I have to wear something different and I
01:04:04.380
have to have, I have to have at least 30 outfits.
01:04:06.700
Well, then hang 30 of them and just take the next one, right?
01:04:11.140
Either do that or, you know, what I've found fascinating is that you can mix and match,
01:04:17.080
I mean, the jeans might be the same, but I have a nice collection of quality, high,
01:04:22.000
And, and, you know, my, my blazers are very nice and I just know that I can grab, it's
01:04:28.140
One from column A, one from column B and I'm done.
01:04:31.460
So the same thing is, even if you have to wear more things, you just set it up and say,
01:04:37.820
You get the stuff that, that, um, is otherwise, uh, you know, frustrating you or that's otherwise
01:04:47.480
It's a very nice vest that my ex-mother-in-law gave me, right?
01:04:51.800
I'm not going to throw it out because God, you know, one day she comes over, I have to
01:04:54.060
show her that I have the vest, but so I'll keep it in the other closet.
01:05:06.900
So, uh, I'm going to tweet out a link to the book or whatever.
01:05:10.400
I think you got a great message and hopefully we'll have you back, uh, in the near future on
01:05:18.340
We're still waiting words from President Trump about the shooting in Las Vegas.
01:05:22.180
Uh, we'll cut in, at least carry some of that when we come back on this, the Glenn Beck program.
01:05:42.500
Let's go right now to the president speaking on the shooting in Las Vegas.
01:05:45.920
A large crowd at a country music concert in Las Vegas, Nevada.
01:05:54.380
He brutally murdered more than 50 people and wounded hundreds more.
01:06:05.380
The FBI and the Department of Homeland Security are working closely with local authorities to
01:06:14.080
assist with the investigation and they will provide updates as to the investigation and
01:06:22.300
I want to thank the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department and all of the first responders for
01:06:31.540
their courageous efforts and for helping to save the lives of so many.
01:06:37.120
The speed with which they acted is miraculous and prevented further loss of life.
01:06:46.580
To have found the shooter so quickly after the first shots were fired is something for which
01:06:57.040
It shows what true professionalism is all about.
01:07:03.500
Hundreds of our fellow citizens are now mourning the sudden loss of a loved one, a parent, a child,
01:07:20.000
To the families of the victims, we are praying for you and we are here for you.
01:07:26.400
And we ask God to help see you through this very dark period.
01:07:33.740
Scripture teaches us the Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit.
01:07:43.200
We seek comfort in those words, for we know that God lives in the hearts of those who grieve.
01:07:50.820
To the wounded who are now recovering in hospitals, we are praying for your full and speedy recovery
01:07:58.340
and pledge to you our support from this day forward.
01:08:04.000
In memory of the fallen, I have directed that our great flag be flown at half staff.
01:08:10.560
I will be visiting Las Vegas on Wednesday to meet with law enforcement, first responders
01:08:20.560
In moments of tragedy and horror, America comes together as one.
01:08:30.800
We call upon the bonds that unite us, our faith, our family and our shared values.
01:08:37.700
We call upon the bonds of citizenship, the ties of community and the comfort of our common humanity.
01:08:53.340
And though we feel such great anger at the senseless murder of our fellow citizens, it is our love
01:09:08.140
In times such as these, I know we are searching for some kind of meaning in the chaos, some kind
01:09:21.920
But we can take solace knowing that even the darkest space can be brightened by a single
01:09:28.080
light and even the most terrible despair can be illuminated by a single ray of hope.
01:09:37.480
Melania and I are praying for every American who has been hurt, wounded or lost.
01:09:43.540
The ones they love so dearly in this terrible, terrible attack.
01:09:49.880
We pray for the entire nation to find unity and peace.
01:09:54.160
And we pray for the day when evil is banished and the innocent are safe from hatred and from
01:10:03.380
May God bless the souls of the lives that are lost.
01:10:13.840
And may God provide the grieving families with strength to carry on.
01:10:23.160
The president speaking on the tragedy that unfolded last night in Las Vegas.
01:10:27.620
We'll have more on that as well as some other news stories coming up on the Glenn Beck program.
01:10:49.600
Tragedy unfolding late last night in Las Vegas.
01:10:52.880
If you haven't heard yet, I'll give you a quick update on the details and we'll get back
01:10:56.900
We'll also cover a little bit more of the daily news in just a few minutes as well.
01:11:01.100
But if you want to join the program, best way to do it is 888-727-BECK.
01:11:12.200
Or you can just tweet at Doc Thompson Show at Real Chris Cruz.
01:11:24.700
And they're part of the morning crew on the Blaze Radio Network with me.
01:11:28.540
If you want details on that, it's at theblazeradio.com or theblazeradio.com.
01:11:32.840
So we've got new information on the suspect, Stephen Paddock.
01:11:37.640
Before we get to that, though, I'll give you the details.
01:11:39.960
Now, as it stands, 50 people dead and over 400 people injured in a shooting last night
01:11:48.860
64-year-old Stephen Paddock had a room on the 32nd floor.
01:11:54.600
New information says that he's been staying there since September 28th?
01:12:07.420
So he would have stayed Thursday night, Friday night, Saturday night, and then last night.
01:12:11.480
Which makes sense if you're kind of casing the area.
01:12:14.640
Yeah, because the event started on Friday, I believe.
01:12:19.960
Yeah, three-day music fest, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday.
01:12:22.320
So that kind of plays out on the mindset of when you're casing an area, you know, you
01:12:29.340
Interesting, though, he waited until Sunday night.
01:12:31.160
That's one of the things where we're talking about off air.
01:12:37.280
And then you say that Saturday to Sunday night, that's kind of like a very...
01:12:47.260
It takes a nap now and then in the wee hours of the morning.
01:12:53.580
But still, Saturday night is still going to be busier than Sunday night.
01:13:01.560
Obviously, he was still looking at those thousands of people.
01:13:04.480
What, 40,000, they say, may have been at the concert.
01:13:09.020
And he also shot people on the street, across the street, down in front as well.
01:13:18.380
They also have details now on some of his past.
01:13:30.720
Now, they said he had a criminal record going back to when he lived in San Francisco.
01:13:46.400
But known to law enforcement almost sounds like they're watching him.
01:13:50.220
And they also said this with the pulse shooting suspects.
01:13:59.000
They say if it's terrorism or somebody they suspect that could be a terrorist, eventually
01:14:08.720
In other words, you're likely to do something bad.
01:14:22.900
You know, he's been turned on our side for, like, months ago.
01:14:26.660
Now, you have this saying that he was known by the law enforcement.
01:14:30.680
Then that also plays out to a scenario, I'll tell you this, in the morning during our show,
01:14:35.140
was that Trump even said is that our responders, you know, they got there nice and quickly.
01:14:42.300
But then, also, in the back of my mind, it says, do they get there quickly because he
01:14:51.120
I mean, you're firing an automatic weapon in a hotel room.
01:14:55.300
I mean, if people walk across the fort loudly in a hotel room, I'm like, what the heck's
01:15:04.160
I mean, an automatic weapon, it's going to be incredibly loud.
01:15:07.060
People three, four floors down said it sounded like a jackhammer.
01:15:14.260
I mean, okay, so, you're going to know if you're at the front desk or security at the
01:15:19.420
hotel within minutes that something is going on like that, right?
01:15:22.740
But then, you know, hotel security is not going to break in.
01:15:25.840
I think they said he shot roughly 10 to 15 minutes.
01:15:30.720
I mean, it's going to take a couple minutes before the, you know, front desk is notified.
01:15:42.540
You know, because you got to make sure what you're doing is smart when you break in to
01:15:48.900
And we heard the audio from the SWAT team, you know, going from dispatch to the door.
01:15:56.860
Also, they said he had previously lived in San Francisco, Melbourne, Florida, Reno, Nevada,
01:16:05.820
And then we also know that his brother lives in Orlando, Florida.
01:16:16.420
Anybody that's not in broadcasting and moves this much is shady.
01:16:20.060
It just comes with the territory when you're a broadcaster.
01:16:25.240
They said, okay, so there was a woman that they were looking for that they now have in
01:16:31.760
And for a few hours this morning, they couldn't find her.
01:16:34.800
They just knew she was somehow related and acquainted with this guy.
01:16:44.560
They now say that she shared a residence with him.
01:16:47.700
I don't know what the status of their relationship was or how much she knew, but a woman on the
01:16:57.020
street being interviewed, and I think we have the audio of this, claimed that this woman
01:17:02.260
stopped her and told her some bad stuff's coming down, right?
01:17:07.040
We don't know if it was Mary Lou, but a woman stopped her and said, hey, you're about
01:17:13.740
This is a woman being interviewed on the street in Las Vegas.
01:17:16.160
And, I mean, were you thinking, oh my gosh, this woman told us that before we left?
01:17:22.980
Yeah, I thought it had a positive correlation to it.
01:17:25.600
Like, obviously she was telling us that, either to tell us to warn us or to tell us that we
01:17:36.920
They were probably about shorter five-footers, probably about 5'5", 5'6".
01:17:49.920
Were they escorted out because you were feeling uncomfortable about what they said?
01:17:53.100
Yes, because she had been messing with the lady in front of her and telling her that she
01:17:59.100
So, they escorted her out to make her stop messing around with all the other people in
01:18:05.000
But, none of us knew that it was going to be serious.
01:18:14.440
I've been on the street where you get street preachers that are, that seems a little crazy.
01:18:19.240
I mean, we had just a couple weeks ago, somebody claimed the world was going to end on Saturday.
01:18:26.960
I'm sure people have said crazy things on the street.
01:18:30.940
45 minutes before the first shooting, you know, started to happen.
01:18:35.460
So, this Mary Lou Danley, based on the picture, did she look Hispanic?
01:18:42.640
But, then again, the 65-year-old man or whatever.
01:19:00.600
Western Asia starts looking a little more Middle Eastern, a little darker, a little less traditional Asian.
01:19:08.300
So, it could be, I mean, it could be any number of races.
01:19:11.340
But, the one thing you wouldn't, she wouldn't likely confuse is the Hispanic man.
01:19:16.660
So, if it was this Mary Lou Danley, who's the Hispanic man with her?
01:19:24.400
If it wasn't her, but they knew about the attack, how do they know about the attack?
01:19:29.100
A lot of questions now being raised because of that one interview.
01:19:45.400
And not your traditional news sites said that this FBI source told them, again, take it at this point until it's confirmed more with a grain of salt.
01:20:03.400
That this Stephen Paddock had radical leanings when it came to politics.
01:20:15.020
You could take that he's radicalized and, you know, full-blown right wing.
01:20:18.700
Well, it could be radicalized to the left wing.
01:20:28.840
Well, you did kind of threaten a sitting president.
01:20:32.260
That was a long time ago, and we're not supposed to bring that up anymore.
01:20:39.440
I'll tell it tomorrow morning on the Blaze Radio.
01:20:43.520
I mean, I guess, I bet there's a lot of people out there that would look and go, that Doc Thompson radical leanings.
01:20:50.320
You know, oh, I'm going to speak against Trump.
01:20:59.000
She meant it as a joke, but it's still radical.
01:21:04.880
And you got the neo-Nazis, too, the wise supremacists.
01:21:13.040
And there's another phrase for that that I can't say on the air.
01:21:28.660
They say they hopefully will have some additional information on this stuff by this afternoon.
01:21:32.940
A lot of people are coming against us, standing against, you know, for example, you have people
01:21:54.000
And former presidential candidate Hillary Clinton has now chimed in.
01:22:05.880
We can and must put politics aside, stand up to the NRA, and work together to try to stop this from happening again.
01:22:14.820
Okay, earlier I started off this program saying we have to stop politicizing stuff.
01:22:28.180
When people start making it a political issue or discussing who's to blame immediately after a tragedy,
01:22:35.780
again, we're still trying to figure out if this guy truly acted alone.
01:22:41.200
We just found out where he has lived within the last 20 minutes, half hour.
01:22:49.680
Number two, she passed blame and judgment on who?
01:22:56.180
Which is also a political issue because she knows the NRA funds people on the right.
01:23:02.940
And then finally, is she telling all of the facts?
01:23:09.260
Hillary Clinton, you, my friend, are a dirtbag.
01:23:14.380
As if we didn't know that already, a dirtbag for this.
01:23:24.660
It took her three tweets to tweet out her whole point of view.
01:23:37.280
She goes, the crowd fled at the sound of gunshots.
01:23:41.560
Imagine the death if the shooter had a silencer, which the NRA wants to make easier to get.
01:24:09.800
She is speaking squarely out of her rectum there.
01:24:32.320
A silencer was not going to stop people from being injured or would cause more people to be injured.
01:24:42.440
Still, the people in the room next door would have heard it.
01:24:55.180
And by the way, you're still going to see the jumbotron they have there stop working because it was hit.
01:25:07.100
By the way, you know, when you kill someone with a knife in a movie, they make no sound.
01:25:12.780
So you just put it up and they just, that one's perfectly silent.
01:25:22.060
Hillary's getting all of her information from movies, apparently.
01:25:30.260
And if you're not helping, you're hurting in this scenario.
01:25:34.260
Because it makes everybody else that's opposed to the things you're saying politically,
01:25:38.620
even if there's a nugget of truth in what you're saying, instantly run to the other direction.
01:25:48.640
Still have some other news stories to get to this morning.
01:25:50.980
It's Doc Thompson pinch hitting for Glenn Beck.
01:26:04.600
We have new information on the shooter at the Mandalay Bay Hotel last night in Las Vegas.
01:26:18.880
We have a clip of this and then some new information as well.
01:26:27.100
Ever any indication at all that this was nothing that we're we're lost.
01:26:51.160
So, I mean, obviously, you're upset your sibling has died.
01:26:53.740
We often think of these shooters as being monsters.
01:26:57.540
And we've seen in the past where some siblings or relatives are like, okay, that guy was nuts,
01:27:04.000
But, you know, they're not as upset because obviously they're crazy.
01:27:09.220
So, imagine your sibling that you think is normal all of a sudden involved in something like this.
01:27:14.280
Yeah, his brother is he's not seeing him every day.
01:27:18.380
So, this information came out that supposedly did his brother say this.
01:27:22.720
So, according to NBC national correspondent Peter Alexander, he says that Stephen Paddock's brother says their father was also a wanted criminal.
01:27:32.720
It was on the FBI's most wanted list for bank robbery.
01:27:52.500
First of all, my prayers are with the people that were dead and their family and the loved ones and the people that are hurt in the hospitals.
01:28:06.700
I'm frequently there in Las Vegas for conferences and stuff.
01:28:16.400
I'm trying to still try to figure out how did this guy get all that firepower into the hotel?
01:28:24.540
And the other, you know, in all of this, what we're missing in all of this is that we have forsaken our belief in a, you know, in a higher being as a society.
01:28:33.880
I was really impressed when Trump referenced God three times in his, you know.
01:28:44.140
You know, as far as I read a lot, I know, I guess, you know, you guys, you know, a guy named Alexis de Tocqueville, right?
01:28:50.480
When he said the most fascinating thing about this country is freedom of religion.
01:29:01.960
And the last point I want to make is he is not a shooter.
01:29:06.800
Somebody that practices target shooting, you know, in a safe area is a shooter.
01:29:30.140
And I think we've certainly lost our humility when it comes to our higher power.
01:29:36.540
Also, I have to touch on what happened in Puerto Rico.
01:29:59.900
Hey there, it's Doc Thompson in for Glenn today.
01:30:08.220
I do have a couple more calls to get to on what happened in Las Vegas.
01:30:17.620
I have some possible insight into what type of weapon was used.
01:30:22.660
It's the cadence of the weapon and the sounds of the round, the high-pitched sound of the
01:30:27.760
It sounds like it's an M249 saw, which is a belt-fed weapon.
01:30:33.280
It fires approximately 600 to 900 rounds a minute, depending on what kind of gas gate setting you
01:30:38.540
I was actually thinking the same thing, too, because if, I don't know if you ever fired
01:30:46.780
You know, that's the one that, you know, people saw the machine gun, but that's like the baby
01:30:51.040
And the barrel, you know, I was thinking also, all the rounds going by it, the barrel can
01:30:56.480
get hot, but it won't get as hot as a, you know, 240 Bravo, you know, and you could
01:31:02.420
And it's actually easily handleable for a one-man, actually, if he has to switch barrels, he
01:31:08.500
can do that, but for that little weapon, you know, it's not little, but compared to the
01:31:12.600
240 Bravo, you know, you can actually switch back and forth and actually have the capability
01:31:21.560
And that lull, some of the audio, some of the witnesses have explained, the lull and fire
01:31:26.800
of about approximately 30 to 45 seconds, that's about the amount of time someone who's fairly
01:31:32.340
proficient with a weapon, that's about the amount of time it's going to take to change that
01:31:34.960
barrel and slap in a new, you know, a new belt-fed.
01:31:40.340
So, it sounds, it sounds a lot like a 249 saw, fairly lightweight, easy to carry.
01:31:48.740
All right, Phil, thank you so much for the call.
01:31:55.060
No, according to reports that are coming out, he had 10 long rifles on his bed.
01:32:00.180
Okay, so if he had some sort of, is that belt-fed is what he's talking about?
01:32:03.360
It really sounded like it was going to be the rounds.
01:32:05.620
Okay, it always, I mean, what do you, what do you think you're going to do with all those
01:32:10.120
Well, that's one thing, too, is when you, I mean, I guess crazy is crazy.
01:32:12.640
When you're operating those kind of, especially the 249 that he said, you know, that's very
01:32:18.600
You open, you close it back up, and it has a little carrier for you around.
01:32:21.720
And again, it's really easily to use if you know how to use it.
01:32:27.980
And changing the barrel, for example, if you're having a 240 Bravo, which one is the one that
01:32:32.380
I use in the military, to change the barrel, that's kind of like a two-man job.
01:32:49.600
First of all, well, of course, you don't expect to wake up to this tragic news, so all of
01:32:53.740
my thoughts and prayers are sent to everyone in Las Vegas that, you know, that were shot
01:33:06.000
And the whole politics that are coming into it make me sick.
01:33:10.000
My husband and I are lifetime members of the NRA, so, you know, we're used to taking these
01:33:18.440
And it's just, it's getting out of hand with that.
01:33:21.100
It's always some excuse, you know, some reason to vilify those of us who are pro-Second
01:33:31.220
And it could have been any, it could have been a car, you know, and that doesn't make
01:33:38.660
It was just a matter in which he did this horrible deed.
01:33:41.120
Uh, so, that being said, I, I, I just, I just feel really sick to my stomach about it
01:33:50.220
You guys are so funny, and today I'm not feeling funny.
01:33:53.580
Yeah, and I, I, I understand that's, we usually lead with humor, but this is one of those,
01:33:59.160
Um, Julie, how do you feel as a Second Amendment supporter, like you said, and you know this
01:34:05.220
How likely are you, when you know this is being politicized, to, to be willing to sit
01:34:10.500
down and have a reasonable conversation about things like mental illness?
01:34:13.940
Because I am not, and that's part of the tragedy when people, uh, politicize something, certainly
01:34:19.440
so quickly, is that you automatically go to your corner and come out and you start fighting
01:34:27.560
Well, they, you mean, uh, when people start saying, well, if someone-
01:34:35.220
Um, well that, you know, see, I, I believe when they start saying that, that becomes
01:34:39.520
an arbitrary, uh, uh, situation because one man's crazy is another man's sane.
01:34:47.040
And, but you see what I'm saying though, about having a conversation about it.
01:34:50.200
It's like we, we all, it doesn't matter if you're conservative, libertarian, uh, liberal,
01:34:55.300
you, you automatically put your guard up and you're not willing to discuss things, even
01:35:05.260
And when you do, I'm going to tell you, you know, we don't identify with the conservative.
01:35:12.720
And when we try to talk to people, um, who tend to be on the other side of, of libertarian
01:35:18.900
to the left, right now we've got a friend from church and she's an older lady and right,
01:35:26.540
I mean, that's, that's insane, you know, you know, and, and so we deal with these things
01:35:33.720
every day and, and, you know, you, you almost have to pick, it's like you have to pick and
01:35:40.620
It's, we walk on eggshells around so many people and we, we're also hunters and, you know, people
01:35:48.120
are going, Oh my God, you, you're hunters, you know, but then they complain because they
01:35:52.180
hit their deer, hit their cars, you know, well, if there weren't hunters, there'd be more
01:35:57.400
And, uh, you know, it's just a never ending battle to, to explain to them that we're,
01:36:04.160
we're also conservationists because we hunt and it's just, it gets to the point where it's
01:36:09.880
And, and this man was obviously there's, it wasn't about, it's not to explain.
01:36:18.120
Julie, thank you so much for the comments this morning.
01:36:27.800
Um, I sent something on Doc's Facebook fan page.
01:36:32.480
It's a police audio link and it's on his page in a message from, uh, is it about the
01:36:41.240
We, yeah, we were going to, we're probably going to talk about that tomorrow.
01:36:58.560
So I just, yeah, I just wanted to, um, have you, you know, we'll check it out, Julie.
01:37:05.100
We'll check it out and we'll get to it tomorrow morning on the, uh, the blaze.com, the blaze,
01:37:11.540
I do have to share one bit of breaking news from this, uh, this tragic story out of Las
01:37:16.520
The death toll now, uh, is at least 58 and the number injured, we're seeing 500 injured.
01:37:30.480
That could be from a sprained, a sprained ankle.
01:37:35.840
So I guarantee half of those are not just sprained ankles and even a 10% being life threatening
01:37:41.940
That's 50, 40,000 people were at, were at attending this event.
01:37:45.760
And another 5,000 or a couple thousand walking the streets down there in and out of the hotels.
01:37:51.760
So when I started hearing the numbers and, you know, the sheriff's department just came
01:37:55.220
out and gave these new numbers, you know, I'm like, there has to be more numbers.
01:37:59.380
I'm not saying that I'm not wishing upon that, but there's the, you just know it's going to
01:38:03.780
Then the type of weapon that was used from, from what we heard the sound, you know, the,
01:38:08.840
all those people compacted there in one area, you know, there's going to be more.
01:38:13.640
And then those injuries are those life threatening injuries that are going to turn into death.
01:38:20.500
Well, like I said, even if, uh, even if it's only 10% of that 500 injured is a critical or
01:38:29.320
And this, this number 58 of 58 dead that we're getting now may have been only 50 truly an hour
01:38:38.940
And then it could be eight people who have just died.
01:38:41.020
It seems unlikely that they would have miscounted this far along.
01:38:45.040
It seems more likely that a couple of succumbed to those injuries.
01:38:48.340
Um, since Julie brought up Puerto Rico, we do have to touch on that.
01:38:51.460
That's probably one of the other top stories over the weekend that, um, was being covered
01:38:58.700
This ridiculous feud between the mayor of San Juan and president Trump is just that ridiculous.
01:39:05.520
And I'm putting most of this at the feet of the mayor of San Juan, and that is not politicizing
01:39:13.940
If you look at the, um, the way the federal government has handled Puerto Rico, remember
01:39:22.720
Puerto Rico is a U S territory and all Puerto Ricans are American citizens.
01:39:27.960
If they moved to the mainland, they can even run for president.
01:39:35.460
So it is the, within the scope of the federal government to take care of, you know, uh, emergency
01:39:44.400
What the president did was proper, was reasonable, was successful, right?
01:39:53.200
I mean, he did what a president, what did he do opened up emergency aid, sent FEMA, he
01:39:59.460
sent the military down to help a national guard and even, uh, the one, uh, Navy, uh, trauma
01:40:08.540
The largest mobile trauma, uh, vehicle in the world.
01:40:13.280
And he sent that he did it all in a timely fashion.
01:40:17.700
One of the things that bothers me of this entire thing is the mayor of.
01:40:25.100
He grew up in Puerto Rico, moved to Florida when he was a young man.
01:40:28.020
That when you move, when you move, I moved to the United States in right after nine 11.
01:40:32.420
So you were a kid when you moved, you moved to, uh, Florida based on what you've seen
01:40:37.740
and you follow this pretty close to this weekend because of your family.
01:40:40.960
Is there anything, is there any significant gap or failure, significant failure coming from
01:40:47.900
And again, this is coming from somebody who did not vote for Donald Trump.
01:40:53.460
I just vote on track record, like some of what Trump's done, not, so I'm not in the tank
01:41:05.240
No, I honestly haven't seen anything that a non Trump president could and can do to
01:41:13.820
Did he do anything significantly more or less than he did for Florida or Texas?
01:41:22.940
You know, one of the things was that act, the Jones act, uh, he actually maybe did a
01:41:27.180
little bit more because they had to act the Jonah.
01:41:29.240
A lot of people say, Oh, he needs to lift that.
01:41:31.560
He cannot lift the Jones act until the governor of Puerto Rico says we need the Jones act
01:41:42.920
And by the way, I did not know we had a Jones act.
01:41:45.040
We had to research it right before, you know, Friday when this whole thing started blowing
01:41:49.300
So one of the things that I seen is so far, I've not, I seen the same reaction, but you
01:41:54.740
also had to think about it too, is Puerto Rico is an Island and people that are not aware
01:41:58.400
of Puerto Rico where I lived, I call it, you know, the hillbillies of Puerto Rico, because
01:42:03.500
in order for me to go to civilization, like let's say to the city of Dallas, there's one
01:42:10.200
If you want to put it in perspective like that, that one bridge that connects, uh, where
01:42:19.020
And that happened around the other towns in Puerto Rico.
01:42:21.620
So people are saying, Oh, they're not getting aid.
01:42:33.260
And then are they, are they going to hurt themselves just to get aid?
01:42:36.560
No, they, they're waiting, assessing the situation.
01:42:39.100
One of the things about this idiot from San Juan, the mayor is that she's out there with
01:42:50.480
Now doc, um, my Island has no power, has no communication, no internet, no, no, no thing.
01:42:58.340
How the hell did she get a shirt that says, help us?
01:43:02.480
She probably has an old, uh, t-shirt, uh, printing device.
01:43:08.500
You know, cause I have many boxes that contain that.
01:43:13.160
The hand cranked t-shirt and hat logo embroidering device.
01:43:18.660
And then come to find out, you know, she's Democrat, uh, mayor.
01:43:21.600
She's went to university of Boston, I think, or Boston, uh, uh, university.
01:43:30.200
Now there have been some failures from her administration.
01:43:34.640
So here we are once again, just like Hillary and so many other people, Piers Morgan, making
01:43:40.340
this Las Vegas tragedy political, that's what she's doing here.
01:43:44.060
And why is she doing it to promote her party and to further her own career?
01:43:49.580
She's hoping to be the darling of people on the left and the Democrats because she stood
01:43:57.820
And because she dislikes Trump in general, anyway, take a break back with more on this,
01:44:20.540
Uh, the FBI is now saying the Las Vegas shooter, Steven Paddock, the murderer of now 58 people,
01:44:36.200
Um, has no connection to international terrorism.
01:44:50.820
This is, she says, okay, this is terrorism, plain and simple.
01:44:59.440
Democrats and Republican, please unite now on gun control.
01:45:09.380
You know, I was with her, I hear Lady Gaga, okay, it's going to be nutty because she's
01:45:18.860
It usually has some sort of political ideology to it, but you're right.
01:45:22.700
You know, anybody can and they target all kinds.
01:45:27.620
She has to close it with, we must unite against gun control.
01:45:30.620
So we'll have more on this, uh, tomorrow morning on, uh, the morning blaze.
01:45:38.980
It's at doc Thompson show at real Chris Cruz and at Cal 79, that's KL 79.
01:45:44.180
And we'll see you tomorrow morning until then have as good a day as possible.
01:45:48.720
Let's try to start prioritizing and pray for Vegas.
