00:11:33.660 And I mean, does what it was doing, but I need to see that thing over 30, between 30 and 40.

00:11:39.900 When that, when the stock market starts to race up to the top, then I think we are in for a melt-up as opposed to a melt-down, which this would kind of be, where the stocks just start to plummet and melt down and lose, you know, half their value.

00:11:59.720 So, I don't think we're there.

00:12:02.840 I think this is a natural correction.

00:12:06.800 I think it's a needed correction, but I think there's some other things that are happening.

00:12:10.680 So let me give you the three or four things that I think are happening.

00:12:14.520 First of all, the idea that the economy is doing really well is scary to some, okay?

00:12:30.240 The economy is starting to move.

00:12:34.080 We've pumped enough cash into the system.

00:12:36.660 Now you have the tax cuts, and so the tax cuts are helping companies invest.

00:12:44.400 They're going to spend.

00:12:45.620 They're going to employ more people, which will drive salaries up because there will be more jobs.

00:12:54.240 And so the companies know, I'm going to have to pay more for the workers.

00:12:58.640 I'm going to have to make more products, but I'm going to probably have to cut the price of the products because there's going to be more competition.

00:13:06.660 And so my profit margin is going down.

00:13:09.340 Well, we've just come off of Wall Street and these corporations having gigantic profit margins because they were making the same crap, and they were selling it, and they were making it with fewer people.

00:13:20.820 And so they were just keeping all of that money, and most of that money was kept offshore.

00:13:26.140 So now that money is coming back.

00:13:28.660 Now they're paying people more.

00:13:30.440 People are going to spend more.

00:13:31.820 They're going to have to make more products.

00:13:33.000 They're going to have to expand.

00:13:34.040 And so the profit margin goes down.

00:13:36.780 So that is completely understandable.

00:13:39.460 That is normal and a good thing.

00:13:42.780 If they were hiring and Wall Street didn't go down and ignored that their profit margin was going to shrink, that would be a problem.

00:13:53.320 This is a natural correction.

00:13:55.880 That's the first thing that is going on.

00:13:58.180 The next thing that is going on involves the Fed and inflation.

00:14:03.540 Because money is going to start moving, remember, it is the amount of money plus velocity of that money, how many times that dollar is being circulated and how many people are spending that same dollar.

00:14:16.260 The velocity of money, which has been worse in the last 10 years than in the Great Depression, it's supply of money plus velocity equals inflation.

00:14:30.000 So we have plenty of money for the average person now that's going to start flowing around.

00:14:35.540 People are going to start feeling like I can spend money.

00:14:37.580 That will increase the velocity.

00:14:40.140 That's too much money chasing too few goods.

00:14:43.200 Inflation will go up.

00:14:45.300 Inflation is bad for this reason.

00:14:49.300 Inflation means the Fed has to come in and reduce the interest rates.

00:14:55.760 I mean, sorry, expand the interest rates to raise them up because that's the way the Fed sucks excess money out of the market.

00:15:06.000 So they'll raise the interest rates.

00:15:08.920 Well, raising the interest rates in a good economy, one that is starting to just start to move, can be really damaging.

00:15:17.040 Because when you raise the interest rates, that means small businesses, people who want to buy houses, they're like, oh my gosh, it's a lot more expensive now because the interest rate is up five points or two points.

00:15:28.820 God forbid, eight points, ten points.

00:15:31.140 If you raise interest rates, which we're going to have to at some point raise interest rates the way we did in the 1970s or 1980s with the early Ronald Reagan, that's at 19%.

00:15:44.140 No business is going to be able to get a loan and run their business with 19%.

00:15:58.320 Who's going to buy a house at 19%?

00:16:00.360 I mean, that is cataclysmic to an economy.

00:16:03.780 I mean, that was what was, you know, the only time we've really seen that is right at the beginning of Reagan post-Carter as they exploded right before that election and then really exploded before the Reagan policies took hold.

00:16:17.300 And then he turned the whole thing around and that's when you had that great expansion.

00:16:20.200 Now remember that, here's another part of this.

00:16:24.980 So you have the rising interest rates, which will tighten the economy.

00:16:29.840 It will tighten the money that is flowing for people who need to take a loan out, okay?

00:16:34.420 Not the average person who's spending it at the store, but the companies and the people who want to buy houses, it will tighten that money.

00:16:40.280 There's also a concern from some that the Fed really doesn't like Donald Trump and his policies.

00:16:49.940 And there is history to show that this has happened before.

00:16:53.960 And I want to give that to you and the rest of the reasons why the stock market had a bad day and it's probably going to have another bad day today.

00:17:03.440 Okay, so what you're seeing in the market is interest rates going to go up another rate hike possibly in March and then another one in June.

00:17:19.860 And they're talking about a third one in December.

00:17:22.140 Now, the market correction, that is coming from inflation concerns, which means it is really important to organize your finances so you can complete your new home purchase or your mortgage refinance sooner rather than later.

00:19:27.300 The next thing, the rising interest rates, we are looking at four Fed hikes this year, plus the velocity of money, the amount of money that is going to be spent because you're getting a raise, you have a tax cut, the companies are repatriating about $2 trillion that they had offshore and bringing it back in.

00:19:49.700 The Fed is going to want to raise the interest rates because they'll have to because that much money, especially in the hands of the average working person where they're spending it, it's going to be too much cash chasing too few goods, inflation.

00:23:16.040 And it is, I think it was yesterday or this morning, it is at one of the highest peaks ever, meaning people are saying, this is unstable.

00:23:46.540 So what will happen is as things become unstable, people move their money over to bonds, which are stable.

00:23:53.160 Bonds have gone from 4% to now 6% in profit, and we're pretty much guaranteed we're going to get 6%.

00:24:03.480 As opposed to, geez, I don't know, I might lose 10% here in this.

00:24:09.960 The other thing about the Fed and interest rates is, you're probably too young to remember this, Stu, but when Ronald Reagan got in, he had a real problem with the Fed.

00:24:19.480 And he was talking about, you know, auditing the Fed and breaking up the Fed, and lo and behold, the Fed said, oh, 19% interest rates, okay?

00:24:30.340 As soon as Ronald Reagan, now, there are people on both sides that say that was coincidence.

00:24:38.600 I don't know what the truth is, but the Fed has the power to make a presidency or break a presidency.

00:24:46.200 And when Ronald Reagan stopped talking about the Fed, the interest rates came down.

00:24:52.020 So theory being that they disliked Reagan so much that they actually jacked them up higher than they needed to be?

00:24:57.360 Yeah, they disliked what Ronald Reagan was saying about the Fed.
