00:00:30.800 This is the Glenn Beck Program.
00:00:35.900 Hello America, Michael Pelka in for my friend Glenn Beck on the Glenn Beck Program.
00:00:42.660 I am thrilled to be here. I am excited to be here.
00:00:46.700 I'm angry about the day, but I'm also very happy about the day.
00:00:52.540 And how can I be both?
00:00:54.360 Well, it's probably because I'm reflecting much of the sentiment that is felt all around the country.
00:01:01.800 First, I should address who I am and why I'm here.
00:01:04.620 I know, I sound like Ross Perot's running mate, the late Admiral Stockdale.
00:01:09.800 Who am I? Why am I here?
00:01:12.340 You're probably wondering.
00:01:13.640 Well, I'm an old friend of Glenn's.
00:01:15.560 We go way back from our early days in wacky morning radio when Glenn used to describe himself as a drunken rodeo clown.
00:01:23.860 He's sobered up. He's still funny.
00:01:25.720 I, of course, am still drinking, but not now, not this morning.
00:01:30.900 I also worked at The Blaze and have written close to 3,000 pieces that you can find on TheBlaze.com.
00:01:38.540 And for the past three years, have been working on The Blaze Radio with a little program called Pure Opelka that follows this show on The Blaze Radio Network.
00:01:50.100 So I'm happy to be here, thrilled to be here, kicking off the first hour of what will be a marathon day for me,
00:01:56.420 and probably a marathon day for you if you are interested in the politics.
00:02:02.460 But you should know, today and tomorrow, my fill-ins here on the Glenn Beck program,
00:02:08.300 will not be just dedicated to or completely covering politics, because there's more to life.
00:02:15.220 There's a whole lot more to life.
00:02:16.560 We were talking about this this morning in the production room before the show.
00:02:22.740 Everybody's enamored of the Wonder Woman movie.
00:02:25.320 I haven't seen it yet.
00:02:26.660 I'm not a comic book movie guy.
00:02:29.280 But after hearing everybody talk about it, now I feel like I have to get out and see it.
00:02:34.300 And there's a whole lot more to life than politics if you just open your eyes and turn off the news channels.
00:02:41.000 I'm just stunned at how much coverage is wrapped up in this testimony that's going to happen.
00:02:50.440 And the way that the country has, and now I say the country,
00:02:54.520 because there are people that don't know anything about this event going on today.
00:02:58.900 But it's being force-fed to them.
00:03:00.720 But the way the news media is just totally enamored of Jim Comey going to testify.
00:03:08.280 And honestly, do we know anything more today than we knew three weeks ago, four weeks ago,
00:03:15.220 when Comey talked about the fact he had memorialized his meeting with Donald Trump
00:03:20.600 and that Trump then tweeted out that there might be tapes,
00:03:25.160 so Comey should be careful about what he might leak?
00:03:28.560 Do we know anything else?
00:03:29.740 No, we don't.
00:03:31.000 We really don't.
00:03:31.880 And last night, when Jim Comey released the seven pages of his opening statement
00:03:37.680 that is going to be read, although the whole world has read it, right?
00:03:42.740 The mainstream media has read it.
00:03:45.200 They've read it to you.
00:03:46.760 If you haven't read it, and seven pages.
00:03:51.420 Can everybody stop congratulating themselves for reading seven pages?
00:03:57.240 I heard Mika say it.
00:03:59.080 I heard people on CNN say it.
00:04:01.280 I heard people on Fox say it.
00:04:03.200 Oh, I read the whole thing.
00:04:04.460 It was seven pages.
00:04:06.820 Pick up the Iliad.
00:04:08.900 Why don't you read some Shakespeare?
00:04:10.760 Seven pages does not a massive epic make.
00:04:15.740 So just everybody calm down a little bit.
00:04:18.940 Do you think we're going to learn anything new today, as I said, that we haven't already heard?
00:04:23.820 No, probably not.
00:04:25.780 If you think I'm wrong, I want you to join the conversation.
00:04:29.460 888-727-BECK.
00:04:32.240 888-727-2325 is the number.
00:04:36.240 Phone lines are going to be open throughout the show.
00:04:38.240 You can also tweet at me.
00:04:39.980 My Twitter handle is at StuntBrain.
00:04:44.000 All one word.
00:04:45.120 S-T-U-N-T-B-R-A-I-N.
00:04:48.540 And you're probably saying, wait.
00:04:50.540 StuntBrain?
00:04:51.380 What?
00:04:52.000 Stunted brain?
00:04:52.980 No.
00:04:53.700 StuntBrain.
00:04:54.440 Think of a stuntman.
00:04:55.860 It's from a consulting company I had years ago.
00:04:58.960 And that's how I met Glenn.
00:05:00.800 Consulting him as a spare brain.
00:05:03.800 All right.
00:05:04.500 So that's the opening.
00:05:05.940 That's the welcome.
00:05:07.240 What are we going to do today?
00:05:09.700 I have actually asked a neighbor of mine in Delaware, where we live most of the year,
00:05:15.980 to give us a call and tell us what might happen today.
00:05:19.500 His name is Chris Coons.
00:05:20.840 He's a senator.
00:05:22.200 And yes, he's a Democrat.
00:05:25.680 He's a really, really liberal Democrat.
00:05:30.380 But he's a good guy, and he's a dad.
00:05:33.240 And like I said, he's a neighbor, and I like him a lot.
00:05:37.100 If Chris Coons will call us before, we might be able to get a little insight to what's going on.
00:05:43.380 Coons is like many Democrats.
00:05:45.620 They don't see any actual smoking gun.
00:05:48.840 They don't see any evidence of collusion.
00:05:51.900 But as they like to say, we don't know until we ask.
00:05:55.380 And I look at him and say, until we ask again and again and again and again.
00:06:03.760 It just keeps going.
00:06:05.600 So we will try and talk to Chris Coons before the testimony happens.
00:06:10.220 One of President Trump's most ardent supporters all throughout the campaign happens to be a friend of mine.
00:06:17.500 Her name is Scotty Nell Hughes.
00:06:19.280 We're going to try and get to Scotty just before the testimony starts and see what she's up to.
00:06:25.740 She doesn't work for the campaign.
00:06:27.560 She doesn't work for the president.
00:06:29.100 But she is involved in a group that is supporting Donald Trump.
00:06:33.240 Full disclosure, I voted for Donald Trump.
00:06:37.060 He was not my first choice.
00:06:39.320 I, like many of you, voted for Donald Trump in hopes of keeping the Supreme Court conservative.
00:06:45.040 And I think that's really an important issue for all of us to remember, that at the end of the day, we want the Supreme Court to survive.
00:06:54.220 Now, there will be some discussions today and some examples of craziness in the mainstream media, some examples of pure insanity.
00:07:04.100 This very morning, Mika Brzezinski over at that Morning Joe thing, soon to be Mrs. Scarborough.
00:07:12.360 Total sidebar.
00:07:13.000 Will, do you think she'll hyphenate?
00:07:15.900 Do you think she'll be Mika Brzezinski Scarborough?
00:07:19.000 And if she is, will she make Joe add her name and hyphenate?
00:07:22.900 Will he be Joe Scarborough Brzezinski?
00:07:26.240 That's going to be a really gigantic welcome mat, isn't it?
00:07:29.580 If you have to put that, the Scarborough Brzezinskis, the Brzezinski Scarboroughs.
00:07:34.740 But there was craziness this morning on Morning Joe.
00:07:38.400 And I've clipped it.
00:07:39.380 We'll play it for you.
00:07:40.320 We are also going to talk outside of the politics, as I mentioned, about a couple of situations going on in the country that I can't believe.
00:07:52.000 Are you a parent who has a kid in school sports?
00:07:55.740 Can you imagine being told that you cannot watch your child compete?
00:08:03.640 Can you imagine that?
00:08:04.960 If your child's playing a sport, whether it's football, soccer, baseball, basketball,
00:08:09.980 Can you imagine the school, the athletic department, telling you there will be no parents allowed to watch?
00:08:18.080 What would your first question be?
00:08:20.220 What are you doing?
00:08:21.220 What are you hiding?
00:08:22.560 What's going on here?
00:08:24.740 Well, that's happening.
00:08:26.220 And it's happening in a red state.
00:08:29.020 So why?
00:08:30.800 Why?
00:08:31.460 We'll get into that.
00:08:32.420 I've got a mountain of stuff here, a mountain of paper and things I want to talk about all morning.
00:08:39.960 I've also gotten just gotten a notification that we will be talking with one of the bars in Washington that has opened early today.
00:08:49.980 And it's a bar that has decided that every time Donald Trump tweets during Comey's testimony that they're going to give a free drink.
00:08:59.300 So it could be very expensive, could be very costly.
00:09:03.800 But if if Donald Trump would not tweet, I think it would be a terrific thing.
00:09:08.720 I think that would be surprising to many people.
00:09:12.280 And I think it would throw the left off their game.
00:09:15.320 They're expecting Donald Trump to tweet.
00:09:17.180 They're expecting Donald Trump to troll James Comey.
00:09:20.860 And I believe that if if he were to remain silent, it would be a massive distraction to so many on the left who are just waiting.
00:09:29.340 They're standing by their by their desks in their offices, in their liberal media offices with a lighter ready to light their hair on fire and run around the office.
00:09:40.800 The first time Donald Trump tweets something during Jim Comey's testimony.
00:09:44.560 And each time it happens, Shaw's bar in Washington, D.C. has promised to give a free drink for each tweet up up to 20 drinks, because we all know at 20 drinks, that's where D.C. cuts you off.
00:10:00.100 You know, you might in every other state in the union, you might say the bartender might say three or four drinks.
00:10:06.480 Hey, you need to calm down, especially if you're driving in D.C.
00:10:09.900 Only in D.C. do they set that bar at 20.
00:10:14.400 And I believe that's known as the Kennedy limit, the Kennedy line.
00:10:18.700 Senator, I think you may have had enough.
00:10:21.100 Can I get your car for you?
00:10:23.240 Just just a little sidebar.
00:10:25.020 So we're going to check in with them.
00:10:26.520 There's also a bar in San Francisco that opened at six o'clock this morning, which is just about the same time this show started.
00:10:34.500 And they are reportedly experiencing a packed house already.
00:10:38.580 And so we we hope to get our hands on some of the merriment, some of the revelry, some of the the people who look at politics as sport on a day they like to look at as their Super Bowl.
00:10:51.180 I wonder where Maxine Waters is today.
00:10:53.780 Is she somewhere yelling impeach 45?
00:10:57.040 Impeach 45.
00:10:58.040 Maybe, maybe not.
00:10:59.200 Before we get into all the hyper political madness that's going on in D.C. today, there are some international events that we have to cover.
00:11:10.480 So right at the bottom of the hour, we're going to welcome in Jason Betrill, who will tell us what's going on.
00:11:16.760 There was a massive terror attack in Iran yesterday.
00:11:21.240 Nobody's talking about it.
00:11:22.600 There have been almost daily attacks during Ramadan that have taken lives all over the globe.
00:11:28.480 You know about London, you know about Paris, but do you know about the rest of the world?
00:11:34.160 An American embassy was hit with an explosive device before dawn this morning.
00:11:39.020 Have you heard it mentioned anywhere?
00:11:41.600 Anybody?
00:11:42.520 Do we care that an embassy where Americans work and represent us and are employed by the State Department was under attack this morning?
00:11:51.220 We'll talk to Jason about that.
00:11:52.960 But when we get back from break, I want to kick off the day and some of the fun here with one of the most magical moments that appeared on the Internet yesterday.
00:12:05.520 No, I'm not talking about Jerry Seinfeld not recognizing Kesha and refusing to hug her.
00:12:11.520 I'm talking about a moment that shows that there's hope, a moment that shows that there's possibly a good group of kids growing up in this country.
00:12:22.000 I'll do that next when the Glenn Beck Program returns.
00:12:25.780 That is the number to call into the Glenn Beck Program.
00:12:46.180 My name is Mike Opelka, filling in for my friend Glenn, who's vacationing.
00:12:50.140 He'll be back Monday, so don't worry.
00:12:53.440 He'll be back.
00:12:54.740 And if you're following Glenn on Facebook, you know he's not disengaged.
00:12:58.520 He's very engaged.
00:13:00.280 As a matter of fact, there have been some stories on glennbeck.com that I will get to later today that have enraged me as well.
00:13:07.240 Speaking of the phone number, Dan in New York has called in.
00:13:10.660 Dan, good morning.
00:13:11.660 Welcome to the Glenn Beck Show.
00:13:13.700 Good morning, Mike.
00:13:14.340 Thanks for having me.
00:13:15.780 You're more than welcome.
00:13:17.160 What part of New York, sir?
00:13:19.020 I'm in Syracuse, central New York.
00:13:20.800 Oh, so sort of normal New York, not New York City.
00:13:24.740 Yeah, no, nowhere near that zoo.
00:13:28.100 Well, what's going on in Syracuse today?
00:13:30.580 What do you want to discuss this morning?
00:13:32.820 Well, I'd just like to say, you know, first thank you to you guys and Jeff and Rush and all you guys for being on the radio and bringing us the news that you do and keeping us informed of the real news.
00:13:43.940 Well, thank you.
00:13:44.840 I'm just sick of all these politicians.
00:13:47.600 I'm 57 years old.
00:13:50.320 I'm a registered independent.
00:13:53.580 I voted for Trump.
00:13:54.740 I'm a union carpenter.
00:13:55.860 They wanted us to vote for Hillary, and there was no way I was going to give her my vote.
00:14:00.360 Wow.
00:14:00.560 Or Bernie.
00:14:02.380 And I'm just sick of politicians and thought we needed some new blood in there, and I think he's a good businessman.
00:14:08.260 I think people just got to calm down and give him some time.
00:14:11.940 You know, they're just so hyper.
00:14:13.680 They're just spending too much time on him.
00:14:15.520 How about just get together and run the country?
00:14:17.940 Do what's right.
00:14:18.680 They know in their hearts of hearts what's supposed to be done, but for whatever reason, they can't do it because it's not their idea.
00:14:25.960 Dan, you—
00:14:26.620 You know, we've got to quit.
00:14:26.860 This partisan shit is just—I'm sorry.
00:14:29.080 It's just ridiculous.
00:14:30.100 Okay.
00:14:31.180 That's one.
00:14:32.460 That's the first one.
00:14:33.340 It didn't take me a half hour, Glenn, to get one through, but hopefully they caught that.
00:14:37.780 Dan, you bring up a really good point, and one of the big problems that we have as a nation is we don't recognize that we have the power to change it,
00:14:49.320 that we have the responsibility and the obligation to change it, and we need to do it by trying to force politicians to really make term limits happen.
00:14:58.280 And we've term-limited the president.
00:15:01.100 Why don't we term-limit the House and the Senate?
00:15:03.860 We term-limit governors in many states.
00:15:06.560 Why don't we do it for the national representatives?
00:15:09.260 And the answer is they won't let it happen, and unless and until we as voters take that power back from them
00:15:16.660 and remove this entitled royal class from really controlling our wallets.
00:15:22.560 They set the taxation.
00:15:24.240 They write the regulations.
00:15:25.580 They're the ones who have their foot on our throats, and unless we change it, and it really is our job, it's never going to change.
00:15:34.480 Now, every time you bring up term limits, somebody who's against term limits says,
00:15:39.680 well, your vote is term limits.
00:15:41.300 You vote every time you vote, you express term limits.
00:15:45.080 No.
00:15:45.840 No, that's not true because there's such an advantage to an incumbent, and you'll see that.
00:15:50.900 So we need to start pressuring guys like Ted Cruz, like Ben Sasse, Mike Lee, to speak up four-term limits.
00:16:00.980 And you hope that Washington doesn't corrupt them.
00:16:03.680 But if we can't move those guys out, if we can't rotate that government every few years,
00:16:11.640 we're going to be doing the same thing over and over again.
00:16:13.660 There are seats that are called family seats.
00:16:16.000 For example, Michigan has a seat in Congress that's basically known as the Dingle seat
00:16:21.660 because somebody with the last name Dingle has been in that seat for decades.
00:16:27.560 I think they're close to seven decades with a Dingle in that seat.
00:16:33.060 Now, I know nobody in their right mind wants to say, I'm taking the Dingle seat because it sounds filthy.
00:16:38.460 But we need to replace those people, left and right, who believe that they should be there for the rest of their lives.
00:16:46.860 And there are as many Republicans as there are Democrats, but we need to make that change.
00:16:52.460 So, Dan, I appreciate you for being out there.
00:16:54.640 I support you on this.
00:16:56.880 I got a little message during the break because I said I had to play a clip from yesterday that made me feel good,
00:17:04.300 that made me happy, and somebody said, you're not going to play the Seinfeld clip?
00:17:10.840 And then I thought, well, maybe not everybody has heard or seen the Seinfeld clip.
00:17:16.600 So before we get to the one that elevated my spirits, I'm going to share the Seinfeld clip with you.
00:17:22.940 Jerry Seinfeld was at a red carpet event.
00:17:26.060 And if you've ever been to one of these, you know what it is.
00:17:29.680 It's a gauntlet lined with different press people, and the celebs walk down the line,
00:17:35.980 and their PR people stop and say, you need to talk to this guy.
00:17:38.900 He's Bill from such and such radio station or TV station.
00:17:42.780 Well, Jerry Seinfeld was being interviewed by a guy named Tommy McFly.
00:17:47.640 And in the middle of this little interview, a pop star, yes, wait, I'm sorry, pop star,
00:17:55.160 I had to put in the air quotes, named Kesha, shows up.
00:17:59.200 And she's all dressed up in her red carpet outfit.
00:18:02.920 She looks like a celebrity, but Seinfeld doesn't recognize her,
00:18:06.700 and it produced one of the more wonderful, uncomfortable moments of yesterday.
00:18:11.420 It's hard to just sleep when you're tired, because people are tired most of the time.
00:18:14.760 I love you so much.
00:18:15.940 Oh, thanks.
00:18:16.580 Can I give you a hug?
00:18:17.160 No, thanks.
00:18:17.940 Please?
00:18:18.280 No, thanks.
00:18:18.880 A little one.
00:18:19.400 Yeah, no, thanks.
00:18:20.440 Oh!
00:18:20.840 Oh!
00:18:21.160 I don't know who that was.
00:18:28.020 It was Kesha.
00:18:29.100 Okay, well, I wish you the best.
00:18:31.940 He still doesn't know who that was.
00:18:34.300 He still has no idea who that was.
00:18:37.260 But it's a wonderful moment, and Jerry Seinfeld does what everybody should do
00:18:41.080 when they're in an uncomfortable moment.
00:18:43.140 At least try and laugh it off.
00:18:45.400 So if you missed it, there it is.
00:18:46.680 But now, the moment I'm talking about happened yesterday, and it went viral.
00:18:52.920 I have these ring doorbells at our house.
00:18:56.320 They're all over the property.
00:18:58.360 So if you get anywhere within 25 feet of the house, I'm going to get an alert on my phone
00:19:03.260 and be able to talk to you.
00:19:04.940 And you know what?
00:19:05.820 I've blathered on so long, I have to drag it over the bottom of the hour.
00:19:11.960 I'll play it for you.
00:19:13.380 You know, it's just such a magical moment, and it'll make you feel better.
00:19:18.200 Plus, Jason Batrell is going to join us, and we're going to talk about the world
00:19:22.720 and what you need to know next on the Glenn Beck Program.
00:19:25.900 Come on back.
00:19:33.940 This is the Glenn Beck Program.
00:19:37.580 Mercury.
00:19:38.180 The Glenn Beck Program.
00:19:45.640 Welcome back to the Glenn Beck Program.
00:19:47.680 Mike Opelka sitting in for my friend Glenn.
00:19:49.600 Back today and tomorrow, and immediately following this show on the Blaze Radio Network
00:19:55.020 is my own radio program, Pure Opelka.
00:19:58.420 You're welcome to stick around, tell your friends.
00:20:00.540 You're also welcome to go to theblaze.com, and the section that says Channels, you can
00:20:07.120 click on my face, which, you know, you can click as hard as you want, it won't hurt me,
00:20:11.660 and follow me.
00:20:12.820 And that means every time we release a special story, you will get a copy of it.
00:20:17.420 Like, a little later today, I'm going to play you something that is going to blow your mind.
00:20:23.760 Hillary Clinton had slaves, and she admits it.
00:20:29.700 Not parsing any words here.
00:20:32.500 I'm not screwing around.
00:20:33.820 Hillary and Bill had slaves, and she talked about it.
00:20:40.080 I know.
00:20:40.800 Why didn't we know this?
00:20:42.280 How did she become senator?
00:20:43.720 How did she become secretary of state?
00:20:45.520 How did she almost become president?
00:20:48.520 Yeah, you're going to like this.
00:20:50.420 Before we went away, I was teasing something.
00:20:52.340 I've been teasing all day, and it's a clip that made me feel good, because there's a
00:20:58.260 whole lot to feel nervous about.
00:21:00.640 This inaction in D.C., the way that the Democrats have managed to wrangle this investigation into
00:21:07.320 Jim Comey and the alleged Russian collusion with the Trump campaign, has frozen Washington.
00:21:14.680 You know, for eight years, the Democrats screamed about the obstructionist Republicans, and now
00:21:20.460 in less than 200 days, they have frozen the Republican administration in place, so nothing is getting
00:21:27.620 done.
00:21:28.300 And it just feels like we were so hopeful.
00:21:32.180 We were so positive after the election, and now it's all stopped.
00:21:36.320 So, you know, we'll hopefully break through that.
00:21:41.340 We'll get through this when we realize this is a nothing burger.
00:21:44.460 But in order to lighten the load a little bit, I have to share with you this clip.
00:21:49.980 And I mentioned the Ring doorbell.
00:21:52.020 And there's a hundred different kinds of these doorbells now, but I have the Ring doorbell.
00:21:57.460 You put it up, you charge it, the charge lasts a month, and it connects to your Wi-Fi, etc.
00:22:03.220 But somebody shows up, and the minute they get, the second they get 25 feet from your house,
00:22:09.680 the camera goes on, and it starts streaming to your phone.
00:22:14.600 So this happened a day or two ago, and a little kid was riding a bike over to his friend's house,
00:22:22.400 probably wanted to go play ball in the park, and as he gets off the bike, well, he stops
00:22:30.780 because he notices the American flag is flying in front of the house.
00:22:36.620 Nobody's around.
00:22:38.440 Remember, Glenn always says you want to know about somebody, you pay attention to what they're
00:22:44.280 doing when nobody's watching.
00:22:46.400 You want to know someone's character, how do they act when they're not being observed?
00:22:50.720 Well, in this case, this little guy stops, sees the American flag, and without any prompting,
00:23:01.040 he starts saying the Pledge of Allegiance.
00:23:03.580 Listen.
00:23:09.100 The Pledge of Allegiance is the flag of the United States of America,
00:23:14.280 and to the Republic of which it stands, one station under God,
00:23:18.760 ends up his role with liberty and school, liberty and justice for all.
00:23:26.500 Then he gets off his bike, and he goes up to ring the doorbell,
00:23:31.100 and he pushes the button that rings the doorbell.
00:23:35.320 You hear it ring, and while he's waiting, he steps back, and what does he do?
00:23:40.720 He stares at the flag.
00:23:43.960 It's just one of the greatest moments.
00:23:47.160 Nobody's watching this kid, and yet he did the right thing.
00:23:51.820 I saw it yesterday, and I thought, we're going to be okay.
00:23:56.860 We're going to be all right if this is what the kids do, if the kids know this.
00:24:01.620 And to whomever that child's parents are, thank you.
00:24:06.700 Thank you for making the rest of us realize that there's hope, that there are good folks out there.
00:24:12.360 Just a wonderful video.
00:24:13.820 I may have to play that every hour today.
00:24:16.080 I stand and say the pledge in my head as the kid's doing it.
00:24:19.780 But I love that he also corrected himself.
00:24:22.080 Did you hear what he said?
00:24:22.920 With liberty and school, liberty and justice for all.
00:24:28.920 Smart kid.
00:24:30.260 Yeah, I hope that's a kid that ends up in government in the near future.
00:24:34.500 We talked about term limits.
00:24:36.700 We'll get back to that.
00:24:38.220 But I have a guest here who's been dragged away from his work here at The Blaze.
00:24:43.700 Jason Buttrell is here.
00:24:46.060 Or Buttrell.
00:24:47.360 I keep saying it wrong.
00:24:48.500 Glenn says Buttrell, doesn't he?
00:24:50.200 He does, he does.
00:24:50.720 Glenn, if you're listening, it's Buttrell, not Buttrell.
00:24:55.280 But Jason is a head writer and a guy who understands global security because you were in the intelligence business.
00:25:02.200 You serve this country and you're a guy who gets it.
00:25:05.940 And as the whole nation is wrapped up and obsessed with the Comey testimony, we're checking things out.
00:25:12.520 And I'm looking online and in Iran, in Tehran, the UN just announced we're flying our flag at half-mast in honor of the victims of the terror attacks from two days ago.
00:25:24.240 The world's still on fire.
00:25:26.360 And as a matter of fact, the flames seem to be getting bigger.
00:25:29.780 What are we missing in the Middle East, Jason?
00:25:32.000 What is this Sunni-Shia split for somebody like me who doesn't understand it?
00:25:37.200 How can we grasp it?
00:25:38.960 This is what we're missing.
00:25:39.960 And it's actually, it's amazingly historical.
00:25:43.060 Because I would say the first time the lines of the map in the Middle East were redrawn in modern history was just after World War I.
00:25:50.520 The English and the French got together, the famous Sykes-Picot Agreement, and they redrew the lines in the Middle East.
00:25:56.580 So that was basically the first time in modern history.
00:25:58.740 We are seeing on pretty much the same exact scale, same thing happening right now.
00:26:05.000 Only the difference is, before it was foreign countries, even Russia was involved, France, England, all these foreign countries.
00:26:11.880 They were taking control of the Middle East.
00:26:13.780 Now we have the people that actually live there are doing it by violent means, redrawing it themselves.
00:26:21.080 So basically, Syria doesn't even exist as a country anymore.
00:26:23.680 I mean, it's basically like a statelet in Damascus being propped up by Russia.
00:26:27.580 It probably wouldn't even be there today if it wasn't for Russia.
00:26:30.700 You have the Kurds, who we have just signed on to arm them.
00:26:35.220 And it's actually, there's a big distinction between the Kurds that are in Syria and the Kurds that are in Iraq.
00:26:40.600 The Kurds in Iraq are democratically based.
00:26:44.080 They're completely different.
00:26:45.160 They have a different language.
00:26:46.380 The language difference between the Kurds in Iraq and Syria is the difference between German and English.
00:26:50.260 Really?
00:26:50.620 They're different.
00:26:51.120 It's that different.
00:26:51.920 But they're both called Kurds.
00:26:53.100 But they're all ethnically Kurds.
00:26:55.720 But their leader, the Syrian Kurds, their leader is a Marxist-Leninist.
00:26:59.760 He's a Marxist-Leninist trying to set up a Marxist-Leninist state in northern Syria.
00:27:04.560 That's who we're supporting.
00:27:05.900 That's who we're backing to take Raqqa right now.
00:27:07.700 That's the guy we're arming.
00:27:09.200 Exactly.
00:27:09.620 So if this surge proves successful, the guy in charge is a Marxist-Leninist who now has the weapons that we've given him.
00:27:19.160 That's who we're looking at taking charge of northern Syria after ISIS is being expelled.
00:27:24.080 So that's one of the lines that's going to, there's going to be a Marxist-Leninist state in northern Syria.
00:27:29.220 It's probably going to happen.
00:27:30.580 Turkey's going to have something to say about it.
00:27:32.380 But that's another line, a brand new country that might exist.
00:27:35.540 Now, in the meantime, ISIS has carved their own territory out.
00:27:40.160 Right.
00:27:40.800 Now, ISIS, and this goes towards the terror attack that just happened in Iran.
00:27:45.800 ISIS is the problem that everybody has to deal with.
00:27:48.640 The Arabs have to deal with them.
00:27:50.180 Everyone has to deal with them.
00:27:51.200 Iran now has to deal with them.
00:27:52.740 But nobody wants to deal with them.
00:27:54.080 What they want to do is use them as an excuse to help carve out their own territory in the Middle East.
00:27:59.240 So ISIS, their back is against the wall.
00:28:01.820 Everyone pretty much knows that eventually they're probably going to be gone.
00:28:04.880 Their caliphate's going to be gone.
00:28:06.100 But what they're doing right now is they're using this Sunni-Shia split to carve their own areas out of the Middle East.
00:28:12.600 Now, for the longest time, Iran has not had to deal with Sunni terrorism.
00:28:16.740 Now, why is that?
00:28:17.620 I don't know.
00:28:18.360 They never get hit.
00:28:19.600 They have never gotten hit.
00:28:20.580 The reason is, is because the U.S. Treasury released a report right after 9-11, after the 9-11 Commission,
00:28:26.700 that said, we have evidence that there is a pact between Tehran and al-Qaeda, Osama bin Laden himself,
00:28:34.020 that they will not mess with each other.
00:28:36.800 What Iran will do, so al-Qaeda will not attack Iran.
00:28:41.440 What they get in turn for that is Tehran will allow them safe haven in Iran.
00:28:46.560 Iran, their intelligence services allows, gives them a pipeline to travel through Iran
00:28:51.340 as long as they go and hit Western interests or other interests within the Middle East.
00:28:57.100 So, it truly is the enemy of my enemy is my friend.
00:29:00.020 Exactly.
00:29:00.720 And never mind that they're enemies at the end of the day.
00:29:04.540 Nobody realizes once the friend or the enemy you have in common is eliminated,
00:29:11.000 that you're just going to go back to fighting each other.
00:29:13.500 Right.
00:29:13.680 And that's what we have here.
00:29:15.500 And so, it came from Hussein himself.
00:29:17.960 Saddam Hussein himself inks this deal to give al-Qaeda a free pass.
00:29:22.540 In other words, you guys can come and go as you please, use our transportation, get in and out of here,
00:29:27.340 as long as you're hitting Western influences.
00:29:30.240 Osama bin Laden.
00:29:31.160 Osama bin Laden.
00:29:31.920 He inks that deal with Tehran.
00:29:33.940 Yeah.
00:29:34.320 And that deal is still alive today.
00:29:36.380 Well, now it begs the question is, so this is historical because now, this deal was struck,
00:29:41.560 basically the predecessor, before ISIS was ISIS, they were al-Qaeda in Iraq.
00:29:46.340 They had to abide by those rules.
00:29:48.060 They didn't want to.
00:29:48.840 They had a very, very harsh rhetoric and Osama bin Laden had to put them in check.
00:29:52.420 We actually have speeches, like actual transcripts of Osama bin Laden saying,
00:29:55.660 hey guys, do not attack Iran.
00:29:58.580 We have a deal with them.
00:29:59.700 Do not mess with them.
00:30:00.460 And ISIS has abided by that up until this past weekend.
00:30:04.380 Is it because ISIS has been steadily, it's borders, and I use borders very loosely,
00:30:11.480 but the territory that ISIS had claimed, which was pretty substantial at one point,
00:30:16.020 is now shrinking and getting smaller and smaller.
00:30:19.020 So it's as if the ISIS forces are being shoved down towards Iran,
00:30:23.920 and they're claiming territory that Iran is deciding maybe they don't want to cede?
00:30:28.660 Yes, so ISIS has had a problem with supporters, recruits.
00:30:33.220 They're losing people by the thousands.
00:30:35.640 They need more people.
00:30:36.780 So you'll see, as they're losing the territory,
00:30:39.500 we've seen an increase, an uptick in all their foreign attacks.
00:30:42.660 What this is doing is it's galvanizing all of the Sunni jihadists out there.
00:30:46.700 Now, one of the things that they all agreed on was they could not stand the agreement
00:30:50.480 that al-Qaeda made with Iran because they want to attack Iran.
00:30:54.600 The Shiites are just as much as infidels as the rest of us are.
00:30:57.640 They want to.
00:30:59.040 So what this does is this, for ISIS, they just got a lot more street cred
00:31:02.780 with a lot more Sunni jihadists that were not willing to take that next leap
00:31:06.680 and join ISIS and join the caliphate.
00:31:08.760 Now they're sitting back thinking, okay, there's a little bit, you know,
00:31:11.800 there's a big, now they're on the real jihad that we were on.
00:31:16.500 Now they're willing to take it to the untouchables, which Iran has been for so long.
00:31:20.740 So now they're going to get a whole lot more support.
00:31:23.000 I tell you what, Mike, I was in Iraq just a few months ago, not too long ago,
00:31:27.860 and I was hanging out with some Peshmerga soldiers on their front lines,
00:31:30.820 and I was like, what is the next ISIS?
00:31:32.740 What are you guys worried about next?
00:31:34.060 And they said the thing we're worried about the most is the Iranian Shia crescent
00:31:38.260 that is about to go from Iran through Iraq, through our territory, through Syria to Lebanon.
00:31:44.040 That is their main geopolitical goal right now.
00:31:46.820 Destroying ISIS is not.
00:31:48.000 But taking advantage of the Sunni-Shia split, that is what they're worried about.
00:31:52.960 It's gone so far.
00:31:54.200 They're actually building, they built this, I think, 10-foot tall berm
00:31:58.120 to separate the Peshmerga lines from the Shia militias that are trained and funded in Iran
00:32:03.460 because they know that the Shia militias in Iran, they're taking their territory next.
00:32:07.400 That is the next ISIS.
00:32:08.840 That's what's going to happen.
00:32:09.500 And those are the new borders that are about to be drawn
00:32:11.860 after ISIS is pushed out permanently.
00:32:14.960 So the borders that came out in the late 40s when the rest of the world got drunk one night
00:32:21.860 and drew the map of the Middle East and said, okay, you're going to get this, you're going to get that.
00:32:25.760 Israel, you're going to get this little quarter over here.
00:32:28.820 Those are already just kind of wiped out.
00:32:31.000 And we should basically, a couple of years from now,
00:32:34.000 be ready for a completely remapped Middle East,
00:32:36.820 maybe with countries we've never seen before, theocracies we've never seen before,
00:32:41.320 and just be ready because everything's changing.
00:32:46.000 Everything is changing, and then everyone is trying to be the leader of this new redraw.
00:32:52.460 It's insane.
00:32:52.960 Turkey just now positioned troops down in Qatar
00:32:55.840 because the Qataris and the other Gulf states don't like each other.
00:32:59.540 They just radically pushed through legislation to station troops.
00:33:02.460 So Turkey is trying to, their Muslim brotherhood, they're trying to align with Qatar.
00:33:06.280 They're all turning against Saudi Arabia and the rest of the Gulf nations.
00:33:08.880 Everyone right now is trying to jump on and be the leader of this.
00:33:12.040 Iran, the Turkey, Qatar, everyone is ahead right now.
00:33:15.960 And we're about to see some of the amazing things.
00:33:17.620 Hang on one second.
00:33:18.620 Can you stick around for one more break?
00:33:20.100 Because I want to, there was an explosive device thrown at an American embassy overnight.
00:33:24.460 I want to talk about that and wrap up everything before we get into crazy cominess.
00:33:30.280 And we'll deal with that next on the Glenn Beck Program.
00:33:35.000 Glenn Beck Program.
00:33:36.300 888-727-BECK.
00:33:38.120 The Glenn Beck Program.
00:33:45.200 We have just a few precious moments left in this first hour.
00:33:51.120 Michael Pelka substituting for my friend Glenn Beck.
00:33:53.940 And joined by our friend and colleague Jason Buttrell.
00:33:58.100 And Jason, we were talking about international stuff.
00:34:01.400 And in this little window of time, our embassy in Ukraine was hit with an explosive device,
00:34:07.460 but apparently not a big deal.
00:34:09.100 Yeah, someone lobbed over.
00:34:10.920 It seems like a small explosive device.
00:34:12.780 But this comes on the back of a huge escalation in the fighting in eastern Ukraine.
00:34:18.500 Now, at this point, because Islamic extremism is so bad at this point, no one's claimed responsibility.
00:34:23.360 That, to me, says that it probably wasn't Islamic extremism.
00:34:26.340 It was probably part of this ramped up new wave of fighting in eastern Ukraine,
00:34:30.540 which is going to get a lot worse.
00:34:33.440 Well, we'll have to keep an eye on that.
00:34:35.360 No injuries, no real damage.
00:34:37.380 The embassy's still open.
00:34:38.960 The other one in about 35, 40 seconds.
00:34:41.720 North Korea lobbed a bunch of short-range missiles.
00:34:44.360 They traveled 120-plus miles.
00:34:47.760 We've got to be worried, but nobody's talking about it.
00:34:50.440 A direct response, in my opinion, to the third carrier that's about to show up.
00:34:54.780 They're displaying that they have a counter to ships that are showing up.
00:34:58.780 We haven't seen three carriers show up since the Balkan War,
00:35:02.000 or since both of the Desert Storm and then Enduring Freedom, something like that.
00:35:06.620 Something is about to go down pretty fast.
00:35:08.660 So we should be keeping an eye on North Korea, on the whole Sea of Japan area.
00:35:13.100 Pray for our people in the Ukraine and everywhere.
00:35:16.960 And we'll then focus on the, what is it, Komi-Fei-Fei 2017.
00:35:23.280 Is that what we're going to call it?
00:35:24.200 Komi-Fei-Fei, coming up next on the Glenn Beck Program.
00:35:31.940 This is the Glenn Beck Program.
00:35:36.120 Mercury.
00:35:43.100 The Blaze Radio Network.
00:35:55.580 On Demand.
00:36:00.820 I will make a stand.
00:36:03.300 I will raise my voice.
00:36:05.600 I will hold your hand.
00:36:08.020 Because we are one.
00:36:09.880 I will beat my drum.
00:36:11.840 I have made my choice.
00:36:14.320 We will overcome.
00:36:16.600 Because we are one.
00:36:18.720 The fusion of entertainment and enlightenment.
00:36:22.500 This is the Glenn Beck Program.
00:36:27.280 It is the Glenn Beck Program.
00:36:29.200 My name is Mike Opelka, host of Pure Opelka on the Blaze Radio Network.
00:36:35.280 And you can also hear me on an iHeart station in Wilmington, Delaware, if you're around there.
00:36:40.660 But today I'm in for my friend Glenn Beck here on his program.
00:36:45.200 And I will stick around and host mine after this.
00:36:47.920 It's sort of a pure Opelka-thon that's happening here today.
00:36:52.260 Six hours, non-stop.
00:36:54.460 I bet I talk longer than Jim Comey does today.
00:36:57.820 And we are obsessed, sort of.
00:37:01.320 We, I mean the nation.
00:37:02.900 With Jim Comey and his testimony today.
00:37:05.500 Comey has arrived.
00:37:06.820 They're covering it.
00:37:07.600 All the news nets are covering it.
00:37:09.960 And the people I think who should be really angry today, C-SPAN.
00:37:14.180 Because this is their turf.
00:37:16.260 And if C-SPAN were a real gang, they'd be going over to all the networks and cutting their cables going,
00:37:22.100 You're in our turf today, man.
00:37:24.060 You need to back it down.
00:37:26.100 Get off my land.
00:37:27.740 We're C-SPAN.
00:37:29.300 We were the kings of boring stuff coming out of D.C.
00:37:32.780 Not you guys.
00:37:34.660 Go take your opinion journalism elsewhere.
00:37:37.580 We're giving you unfiltered access.
00:37:40.520 So after decades of being the channel of nerds, guess what?
00:37:44.720 Now C-SPAN invited to the cool kids table.
00:37:48.140 As CNN and MSNBC and Fox and everybody's there.
00:37:52.660 It's too much.
00:37:54.460 It really is too much.
00:37:56.720 Help me understand this as a friend of mine.
00:37:58.620 Again, full disclosure, on this show, I like to tell you all the inside stuff.
00:38:05.760 And I do this on my show too.
00:38:07.940 Scotty Nell Hughes is someone you saw during the entire Trump campaign.
00:38:12.200 She's been a friend of mine for six years, going on seven.
00:38:15.860 Somebody who's been a leader not only among women but among conservatives.
00:38:21.200 Somebody who understands the benefits, the values of holding up the principles that the founders gave us.
00:38:27.180 And she's also been, as I said, someone who's been a spokesperson and out there supporting Donald Trump.
00:38:33.580 Well, now she's part of a new group that is supporting and defending the president.
00:38:38.620 And I wanted to get her before we got knee deep into the Comey testimony.
00:38:42.560 Because let's face it, even if he starts talking now, he's still got to read seven pages that have been read to us for the last 14 hours.
00:38:50.900 So nothing new is happening.
00:38:52.540 Good morning, my friend.
00:38:53.460 How are you?
00:38:55.080 Good morning, Mike.
00:38:56.060 And thank you.
00:38:56.860 You went right down the path that I was hoping you would go because you hit the nail on the head.
00:39:01.840 People who are watching the Comey folks right now, they are folks that have time to take out of their day, out of their job,
00:39:08.540 and watch a wide variety of television stations that have made this into a media circus, seven pages that we've already read and dissected.
00:39:16.560 And the rest of us in the real world had to leave for work this morning.
00:39:21.300 And we're lucky if we only have to work one job at 5 a.m. wondering how our day was going to go, where Comey was something that we're thinking we're just going to read on social media because we have to deal with real-world issues.
00:39:33.400 So, Mike, I want to start this off because your listeners are very hard-working, loyal listeners because I'm one of them.
00:39:39.500 And I want to let them know that Comey is not the only thing going on today.
00:39:43.220 In fact, I love the media circus there because it's a huge distraction because this morning you have Secretary Ryan Zinke, who is on the House floor right now,
00:39:51.420 talking to balanced budgets with the House Appropriation GOP Committee about the issues going on in the interior.
00:39:57.720 You have Senator Mitch McConnell just proposed a fast-track to the House bill for the Repeal and Replace Affordable Care Act.
00:40:05.920 So, luckily, there are things going on on Capitol Hill right now which actually affect everyday Main Street Americans' lives,
00:40:14.920 other than this circus that is quite disgusting, I'm not going to lie to you, to watch.
00:40:20.200 But in the end, I think we're going to find today and the end of tomorrow, it's going to blow up on the Democrats, not the Republicans.
00:40:27.000 Hence why you've seen these leaks and these big distractions the last 48 hours because the Democrats realize the Comey interview actually has a potential chance to hurt their fundraising
00:40:38.640 and their negative connotation of the president and destroy that more than any damage it can do to the Trump administration or anyone affiliated with it.
00:40:48.980 Well, we agree on so much here, Scotty.
00:40:53.560 And the digestion isn't it for breakfast.
00:40:55.980 Well, it is, but it's also really important for us to realize that other things are going on.
00:41:01.220 I have been ranting for a few days now saying that the Democrats, by constantly opening up more hearings and more hearings,
00:41:09.260 despite the fact they have a special counselor investigating this,
00:41:12.780 all they are doing is stopping every Republican moment or push to try and get the agenda through.
00:41:19.320 It's kind of heartening to hear Mitch McConnell is actually trying to fast track that bill.
00:41:24.000 And you know what?
00:41:25.060 If he does and manages to do it because so many Democrats are not in in their offices today and not on the Senate floor,
00:41:33.380 then good for him, smart for him to push that through.
00:41:36.380 I know I know Rand Paul has been out in front of the media saying we need to get the tax program in.
00:41:43.280 We need to get the health care repeal in.
00:41:45.460 So I know there are some people trying.
00:41:47.800 But I also look at the Chuck Schumers, the Nancy Pelosi's who Nancy Pelosi would rather show up on The View to talk impeachment.
00:41:56.140 Maxine Waters would rather show up on The View to talk impeachment than deny impeachment than they would to actually do the jobs they are hired and paid to do.
00:42:06.620 So I'm glad to hear this, Scotty.
00:42:09.280 Can I ask you a question about the hearing today?
00:42:12.980 Absolutely.
00:42:13.700 OK, if you were a panelist, if you were one of the senators, I don't care, left, right, independent, Bernie Sanders, socialist, whatever.
00:42:22.060 What's the one or two things you would want to ask Jim Comey that you don't already know?
00:42:29.820 First question, why, when Trey Gowdy asked you under oath that you knew leaks were coming from your department,
00:42:37.800 did you refuse to say that you refused to investigate the leaks that's on your own department?
00:42:43.400 Why do you feel like that right there was the right answer?
00:42:46.500 Why do you refuse to investigate your own FBI?
00:42:48.600 You know, if you know there's problems within your department, wouldn't you want to take care of those first?
00:42:54.440 Well, that's that's always the stance I think we should take.
00:42:57.520 You know, before you go looking for problems in somebody else's house, you should really clean up your own house first.
00:43:03.960 And therein lies.
00:43:05.220 I see part of the problem.
00:43:06.580 I hadn't even thought about that.
00:43:07.820 What's your other question to ask, Comey?
00:43:09.160 Because, you know, if this is truly the Senate hearing, the Intelligence Committee, you get the full five minutes on the first round.
00:43:15.900 Oh, thank you.
00:43:16.680 I appreciate that.
00:43:17.420 The second question, there's lots of questions, but what I think the two questions have not been a second question is,
00:43:22.940 if you were so concerned about Russia, even though you've denied three times that President Trump was being investigated or candidate Trump was being investigated,
00:43:31.420 if you were so concerned about the Russian intervention and the Russian hacking,
00:43:35.400 especially considering the main, the main part of evidence is supposedly these DNC WikiLeaks emails.
00:43:42.820 Why did you never ask for the DNC servers to look at the emails yourself and to go through and look at the security on these servers?
00:43:50.800 Do we know that he never asked for those servers?
00:43:53.720 The DNC servers?
00:43:55.740 Well, I mean, don't you think if the director of the FBI asked for them, he would have gotten them?
00:43:59.340 But we know that they were never looked into by the by the FBI.
00:44:03.180 That's amazing.
00:44:04.620 That's and as someone who had his own phone number leaked and one of my emails leaked because of the DNC hack,
00:44:12.680 I'm not happy about that.
00:44:14.780 And I would have loved to have gotten more information.
00:44:17.500 I would have loved to known about those servers.
00:44:20.020 I'm I'm just amazed the question I would ask, and I'm betting it's going to be asked if it hasn't been,
00:44:26.320 if he's not through his first seven pages of testimony.
00:44:29.020 The question I would love to say, Director Comey, after you got out of Trump Tower,
00:44:36.040 after you got into your government provided FBI car and you started writing your notes,
00:44:41.680 your contemporaneous notes, why didn't you act on them the next day?
00:44:46.940 If you believed you were actually being squeezed in this this scene that now people are painting,
00:44:53.680 the the liberal media is painting as something out of the Godfather series that you were squeezed to do this favor for Mr.
00:45:00.920 Trump. Why didn't you act on it?
00:45:03.580 Why didn't you throw the flag and say, hold on a second, the president is trying to influence me.
00:45:09.280 And I think that lays out on the sidewalk that that he didn't really believe the president was trying to influence him.
00:45:17.640 He may have thought he was being given a little bit of a push.
00:45:22.000 But as Alan Dershowitz said, it's within the president's purview to do this.
00:45:27.260 It's part of the president's executive privilege to actually be able to say, I don't want you to investigate this guy.
00:45:34.020 I'm going to pardon him and let it go. And and yet he did nothing.
00:45:39.820 He did nothing of the sort. Doesn't anybody wonder that?
00:45:45.020 Absolutely. And if it was so much, you remember, according to the Trump Tower, the time Attorney General Jeff Sessions,
00:45:52.120 he did not recuse himself from this whole investigation for two more weeks.
00:45:55.560 So at the very least, why did you not go to the attorney general, your higher up, your hierarchy?
00:46:01.080 Why did you at least not mention to him? But, Mike, you brought up a very good point about these memos.
00:46:05.440 Once again, we are seeing this idea, these concepts, these things being thrown out there like memos.
00:46:12.860 Yet we have yet to see the actual memo.
00:46:15.720 Why has he not released the memos? Are they going?
00:46:19.120 I mean, how are we supposed to have any sort of credibility?
00:46:21.480 Are we just supposed to take their word to be truthful after time and time again?
00:46:26.800 They have lied. And we, the American people, that's the whole thing about Russia.
00:46:30.320 There is still no tangible evidence that any of this exists.
00:46:34.120 It's all he said, she said, middle school drama.
00:46:37.760 That the truth is, I have to wonder, Democrats, I know you've died more deaths than a cat since Election Day because I watch the funerals daily.
00:46:46.480 Is this like the big wedding celebration you're looking for, that I think in the end you're going to find out that the groom is left at the altar?
00:46:53.740 We're going to step aside and take a quick break.
00:46:56.060 I have some questions about what the president's doing today, and we'll follow up on that when the Glenn Beck Program returns.
00:47:05.660 This is the Glenn Beck Program.
00:47:09.260 Mercury.
00:47:13.620 This is the Glenn Beck Program.
00:47:16.480 It is the Glenn Beck Program.
00:47:18.600 Michael Pelka sitting in for my friend Glenn Beck.
00:47:21.000 By the way, Fridays on Glenn's show, Bill O'Reilly has been joining Glenn in this second hour of the show, and he will continue to do so, but he refuses to appear with me.
00:47:34.420 No, that's not true.
00:47:36.420 O'Reilly and Glenn just have a special friendship, and he's not going to appear with anybody else but Glenn.
00:47:42.700 So next Friday, a week and a day from right now, Bill O'Reilly will be on in his usual spot with Glenn.
00:47:50.960 The two of them will be sparring verbally and eventually physically, I think.
00:47:57.300 And, you know, while Glenn has the age advantage, I think O'Reilly's a wily veteran.
00:48:04.180 I think he's a wily fighter, and I think it would be one that I would, despite my friendship with Glenn, my long-time friendship with Glenn, I would have to put some money on O'Reilly.
00:48:15.280 Because I think, frankly, I think O'Reilly would be like a WWE wrestler.
00:48:20.700 He'd have like a handful of dust, and he'd throw it in Glenn's face and then take him out.
00:48:24.520 Sweep the leg.
00:48:25.760 Take him out.
00:48:26.960 Anyway, that's some sort of weird fantasy just came through.
00:48:30.780 We are here on the Glenn Beck Program.
00:48:32.560 As I've said, you can join the conversation, 888-727-BEC.
00:48:36.280 Our buddy Scotty Nell Hughes, who is someone who's been a long-time supporter of Mr. Trump and a longer friend of mine, we've known each other for quite a while, attended CPACs together and covered conventions together.
00:48:50.080 And now we're watching Comey Feifei 2017 together.
00:48:56.160 Scotty, it's beyond crazy for me what's happening here.
00:49:00.060 This is, I don't remember any Hillary hearings getting this much coverage.
00:49:04.640 I don't even remember the, what was it, the Clarence Thomas confirmation hearings getting this much coverage.
00:49:14.280 Let's go with Benghazi.
00:49:15.740 Let's go down the list of things that happened underneath President Obama.
00:49:19.400 I don't remember any of this media circus.
00:49:22.540 And I don't know where I dropped off the moment before, but here's the deal.
00:49:26.240 I get it, Democrats.
00:49:27.200 Democrats, you have more lives than cats because I've been watching the funerals on your every day when I turn on the TV.
00:49:36.180 I get it.
00:49:36.640 Today is like this wedding celebration that you have been waiting for for a very long time.
00:49:41.980 And you are wanting, but I have to tell you, I think your groom's going to be left at the altar, and you're going to be stuck with a high bill because you have put so much into these testimonies.
00:49:51.200 And when we already know the main issue is that there was no investigation into President Trump, that right there makes all of this circus look to be completely what it is.
00:50:01.920 It's a PR message for the Democrats that I think has a real great chance of being spoiled today because in the end, the American people are going to see this is why President Trump was justified in firing Comey.
00:50:14.920 Well, I hope you're right, and I hope we can get past all this instead of just inspiring more demands, more commands for more investigations, which is, I think that's what the Democratic prescription is.
00:50:31.120 Because let's face it, we have not seen smoking guns.
00:50:34.540 You had Senator Warner say we haven't seen evidence.
00:50:37.400 You had Maxine Waters, the leader of the Impeach 45 chant crew, saying we have not seen any evidence of collusion.
00:50:45.860 And now Comey, who yesterday, when he released the opening statement, actually verified what President Trump had told us weeks ago, that Jim Comey had confirmed with him three separate times that he was not being targeted by the FBI for an investigation.
00:51:03.760 And the fact that Comey verified it yesterday, I thought was a huge win for the president.
00:51:09.440 I thought it was a huge win for the for the GOP.
00:51:13.220 And yet we're going to be mired in this for a while.
00:51:15.760 If the Democrats are the big loser, who ultimately is the real winner here?
00:51:21.200 Because as an American, I don't feel like I'm winning anything today.
00:51:25.540 But today is a chance for Americans to win.
00:51:28.020 And as we start off by saying, there are some real good things that are going through right now on on the Hill, which I don't know if it's good or bad, whether they're getting press attention, because maybe without the cameras on them, we might be able to get some things accomplished that we need to do for everyday Americans.
00:51:43.460 Because what we're watching right now is Comey is truly just like a disgruntled ex-employee who has every chance he can, who has the bully pulpit to go after his former boss, who was justified in firing him because both sides at different points called for it to happen.
00:51:59.460 Well, this is true.
00:52:00.200 And I think that's what the Senate should be doing this.
00:52:02.360 I think that's how most Americans who have a logical mind are viewing this, that all they're doing is allowing this man to go on and have a free open open mic to bash this administration that he only served under for a short amount of time.
00:52:18.160 Well, here's here's the weird thing.
00:52:19.920 I don't fully understand.
00:52:21.540 It's not even a question you can answer why he's been brought back, because we we've had this dance before.
00:52:27.640 If there's anything that's really new to be revealed, I don't see it happening.
00:52:33.500 Just give us your notes.
00:52:35.540 Tell us that we're going to get how many hours of of butt kissing by the Democrats who then had originally called for his firing.
00:52:44.800 And you're going to get a few hours of butt kissing from the Republicans who are going to say thank you for your service.
00:52:51.020 You've been a good, loyal employee.
00:52:52.660 Now tell us what really happened.
00:52:54.580 And he's going to say it's confidential.
00:52:56.920 It's it's top classified stuff.
00:52:59.620 I can't talk about it on television.
00:53:02.020 I'll tell you when we go to the private session.
00:53:04.540 So I don't see us learning anything new.
00:53:07.100 I think it's a giant waste of time, which ultimately becomes a giant nothing burger in my book, to quote Hillary Clinton.
00:53:14.120 And I just see the rest of the world saying, how can you be focusing on this America?
00:53:20.360 Well, well, first of all, London's trying to reelect a government or form a new government.
00:53:26.460 They're trying to deal with terrorism.
00:53:28.300 Paris has got people running around with hammers and knives trying to attack us.
00:53:32.440 And you've got stuff blowing up all over the world.
00:53:34.540 We look like we are a high school clique that is arguing over whether that new kid who has all the money is cool enough to sit at our table.
00:53:45.220 It's maddening to me.
00:53:46.720 Scotty, I appreciate you.
00:53:48.380 I hope you'll stay in touch.
00:53:50.140 And you'll if you're if you're out at a Comey Feifei party, I hope you'll tell us what you see and give us an update.
00:53:58.300 Absolutely.
00:53:59.120 Enjoy hosting the rest of the five hours, five, five hours and 45 minutes.
00:54:03.160 You're on air.
00:54:03.760 Thank you.
00:54:04.480 It's the the pure opelkathon.
00:54:07.500 Take care, my friend.
00:54:09.220 And there she goes.
00:54:09.960 You should follow Scotty on on the Twitter because she is an unabashed Trump supporter.
00:54:15.500 If you're a Trump supporter, I think she's fair, too.
00:54:19.000 And she also got parodied on SNL, something that has never happened to me.
00:54:24.440 Thank God.
00:54:25.160 When we get back, we're going to try and reach one of the Comey Feifei bars and see if we can get an update on the action.
00:54:32.080 And if anything big happens in the hearings, we'll share that, too.
00:54:36.280 Plus, Hillary had slaves.
00:54:38.880 Yeah.
00:54:39.500 And she talked about it.
00:54:41.040 We'll play that for you, too.
00:54:42.400 Welcome back to the Glenn Beck program.
00:54:56.900 The Glenn Beck program.
00:55:00.120 Mercury.
00:55:04.360 This is the Glenn Beck program.
00:55:07.000 Welcome back to the Glenn Beck program.
00:55:08.920 I'm Mike Opelka from Pure Opelka hosting for my friend Glenn Beck.
00:55:13.960 And we're trying to keep abreast on everything from Comey Feifei 2017 going on right now.
00:55:21.100 So far, nothing really breaking except that Jim Comey reportedly said the Trump administration, quote, chose to defame me.
00:55:31.160 Yeah, welcome to politics, Bunky.
00:55:34.660 That's kind of the way it goes.
00:55:36.400 We'll see if we can pull that clip from him.
00:55:38.020 But I have Sharon from Mississippi checking in this morning.
00:55:41.560 Sharon, welcome to the Glenn Beck program.
00:55:43.560 How are you?
00:55:44.840 Good morning, Mike.
00:55:45.620 I'm great.
00:55:46.360 And I'm enjoying the show.
00:55:48.160 But I have a couple of things I'd like to point out.
00:55:51.060 All right.
00:55:51.400 The other one is when he was asking Comey for, oh gosh, now I'm going to forget.
00:55:59.800 Loyalty?
00:56:00.680 Loyalty, yes.
00:56:01.680 Thank you.
00:56:03.360 Loyalty to me means two things.
00:56:05.140 Number one, you do not lie to me.
00:56:07.400 And number two, you do not lie about me.
00:56:09.620 It does not mean that you have to lie for me.
00:56:13.120 That's a great point.
00:56:14.960 I don't want you to lie to me.
00:56:16.760 I don't want you to lie about me.
00:56:19.020 And I don't want you to lie for me.
00:56:21.400 Exactly.
00:56:22.180 And they agreed honest loyalty, which to me, that sums that up.
00:56:27.260 That's what honest loyalty means to me.
00:56:29.400 Well, you know, Sharon, I think part of the issue here is there was some wiggle room on
00:56:37.380 that discussion between Trump and Comey.
00:56:41.360 Comey.
00:56:42.380 I think there was wiggle room for Trump to interpret that as Comey pledging his loyalty
00:56:48.100 to him.
00:56:48.660 And Comey had some wiggle room there thinking, well, he told him I was going to be honest.
00:56:54.880 And that's basically what he thought, which can mean different things.
00:56:59.320 You know, if you're pledging loyalty to someone, it's different than just pledging your honesty
00:57:06.240 to them.
00:57:07.980 I think what he was getting at was Comey had told him by that time, at least once, that
00:57:13.760 he was not the subject of an investigation.
00:57:15.800 And I think what he meant was, don't lie to me about that.
00:57:19.380 Don't tell me I'm not a subject and then be going around behind my back bugging the Oval
00:57:24.520 Office.
00:57:24.860 Well, I can see that.
00:57:28.260 And I want to wait to see if we hear more about that and the possible tapes that come
00:57:32.420 out.
00:57:32.800 If they do, if they exist, we should hear them.
00:57:36.040 I have to say thank you, Sharon, for checking in and holding.
00:57:39.320 If you want to join the conversation, 888-727-BEC, 727-2325.
00:57:45.320 One of the places that decided to be a great capitalist and take advantage of this situation
00:57:53.680 is Clooney's Pub in San Francisco.
00:57:57.800 And they're way out on the left coast.
00:58:00.520 They open this morning at 6 o'clock and they normally close at 2 a.m.
00:58:05.300 So, you know, the workers are there.
00:58:07.200 They're doing double duty today.
00:58:08.740 Finn is checking in with us from Clooney's Pub in San Francisco.
00:58:13.160 Good morning to you, Finn, and welcome to the Glenn Beck program.
00:58:17.200 How's business?
00:58:19.220 It's doing good today.
00:58:20.920 How are you?
00:58:21.740 I'm good.
00:58:22.920 I guess you got no sleep last night.
00:58:25.460 Very little.
00:58:26.740 Now, do you have any drink specials for today?
00:58:29.580 Is it half off on white Russians or black Russians today?
00:58:36.100 No, but we do have some specials, actually.
00:58:38.820 We made some jokingly last night and we had a good time making them.
00:58:43.800 So, what are the specials?
00:58:45.920 Are we allowed to say it on the radio?
00:58:49.380 Well, we had Kahlua, ginger ale, and brandy.
00:58:54.900 We had the Impeachment.
00:58:59.160 Oh, I see what you're saying.
00:59:01.100 Impeachment flavor drinks.
00:59:04.160 Mm-hmm.
00:59:04.600 Very good.
00:59:05.220 It was peach schnapps and creme de mints.
00:59:08.400 Peach schnapps, creme de mints.
00:59:09.880 That's the Impeachment serving at Clooney's.
00:59:12.980 And about how many folks do you normally get on a night and how many do you have right now in the bar?
00:59:19.240 It looks, well, besides daylight, it looks like the Warriors game last night.
00:59:25.720 Oh, wow.
00:59:26.320 So, you got a good full bar.
00:59:28.840 Uh, about, yeah.
00:59:31.640 I would say it's about the same, yeah.
00:59:33.200 Okay, well, very good.
00:59:34.720 Well, thank you for checking in.
00:59:36.140 I salute your capitalist spirit taking advantage of this historic moment.
00:59:40.980 That's, if you're out on the West Coast and you're anywhere near the Mission District in San Francisco, it's Clooney's.
00:59:47.520 And, uh, they've got, they still have got a few more seats, but they apparently are doing as much business right now as they did during the NBA Finals game last night when the Warriors took the three game to none advantage over LeBron.
01:00:01.960 I feel bad for LeBron.
01:00:03.360 But, you know, he's up against a super team.
01:00:06.660 Kevin Durant is just ridiculous.
01:00:09.340 It's, uh, I know.
01:00:10.460 It's not time for sports, Mike.
01:00:12.640 For those of you who are wondering, what's with the bullhorn?
01:00:16.580 I found this bullhorn in the office and I picked it up and somebody said, it doesn't work.
01:00:22.340 Don't bother with that.
01:00:24.540 Didn't have batteries.
01:00:25.660 It works now and I might be needing it today.
01:00:30.520 I'm just saying.
01:00:32.200 Uh, we were talking about Jim Comey and yes, we do have a statement from Comey talking about the Trump administration trying to defame him.
01:00:40.780 This is from seconds ago at the, at the hearing, the Senate intelligence hearing as, as it was carried live.
01:00:49.700 I was also confused by the initial explanation that was offered publicly.
01:00:53.420 That I was fired because of the decisions I had made during the election year.
01:00:58.840 That didn't make sense to me for a whole bunch of reasons, including the time and all the water that had gone under the bridge since those hard decisions that had to be made.
01:01:07.800 First of all, doesn't every employee wonder or kind of not understand fully why they are terminated?
01:01:15.680 I mean, unless you're caught stealing from the company red-handed on a security videotape, sometimes there's a little squishiness in the termination and you always wonder, well, they didn't really have to fire me.
01:01:30.060 So that's kind of a normal reaction from somebody who's been fired.
01:01:33.880 Let's let them continue.
01:01:35.580 That didn't make any sense to me.
01:01:36.900 Of course not.
01:01:37.620 And although the law required no reason at all to fire an FBI director, the administration then chose to defame me and more importantly, the FBI by saying that the organization was in disarray.
01:01:50.860 Is there any question that the fact that the Democrats called for Comey to be fired and then the Republicans were calling for Comey to be fired, is there any question that that consensus might be an indication that there was some justifiable reason for the firing of James Comey?
01:02:11.900 And maybe that's an explanation of the reason that there might be some disarray within the ranks of the FBI?
01:02:19.440 It just seems fair to me.
01:02:21.160 Let's let the former director continue.
01:02:23.880 It was poorly led that the workforce had lost confidence in its leader.
01:02:29.800 Those were lies, plain and simple.
01:02:32.820 And I am so sorry that the FBI workforce had to hear them.
01:02:36.440 And I'm so sorry that the American people were told them.
01:02:38.780 I worked every day at the FBI to help make that great organization better.
01:02:44.700 And I say help because I did nothing alone at the FBI.
01:02:48.120 There are no indispensable people at the FBI.
01:02:51.400 The organization's great strength is that its values and abilities run deep and wide.
01:02:56.880 Well, he's he's thrown some platitudes out there.
01:03:00.540 He's throwing out some great statements about the men and women.
01:03:03.080 And there are many great men and women at the FBI.
01:03:06.460 But as he mentioned, he serves at the pleasure of the president.
01:03:10.160 And the president did not need a reason to get rid of James Comey.
01:03:15.000 And yet when it happened, Comey didn't appreciate it.
01:03:19.220 Amazing.
01:03:20.640 And in terms of was there any evidence, any doubt that Russia attempted in to interfere with our election?
01:03:29.060 Comey said no doubt.
01:03:30.740 But was there any evidence that they actually actually made a difference, that they actually changed even one vote?
01:03:39.480 No, no, there's no evidence of that.
01:03:43.380 And Comey has said that this morning.
01:03:45.520 This this really is a gigantic nothing burger.
01:03:49.020 I'm going to keep saying that.
01:03:50.360 Comey, Feifei, I hope I hope you're bringing in a ton of money.
01:03:53.860 And speaking of which, there is an ad that's being run on the cable networks today that's in support of President Trump.
01:04:03.300 Somebody took the opportunity to realize that this was going to be one of the most watched news days in our recent history.
01:04:11.780 And I'll see if we can get that and play it for you.
01:04:14.620 Now, how about the obstruction of justice?
01:04:19.380 Comey was just speaking just a few minutes ago about the meddling.
01:04:24.360 But what about the obstruction of justice?
01:04:27.060 Did the did the Russians succeed in in changing our election?
01:04:32.520 No.
01:04:32.780 But did the president in his meeting with Comey, the same meeting we're talking about.
01:04:37.980 Did he ask or actually show purposeful obstruction of justice?
01:04:45.680 There might have been discrepancies between facts and his FBI testimony.
01:04:52.320 In your estimation, was General Flynn at that time in serious legal jeopardy?
01:04:57.860 And in addition to that, do you sense that the president was trying to obstruct justice or just seek for a way for Mike Flynn to save face, given he had already been fired?
01:05:10.680 Well, General Flynn at that point in time was in legal jeopardy.
01:05:13.980 There was an open FBI criminal investigation of his statements in connection with the Russian contacts and the contacts themselves.
01:05:21.860 And so that was my assessment at the time.
01:05:23.980 I don't think it's for me to say whether the conversation I had with the president was an effort to obstruct.
01:05:29.360 I took it as a very disturbing thing, very concerning.
01:05:32.560 But that's a conclusion I'm sure the special counsel will work towards to try and understand what the intention was there and whether that's an offense.
01:05:39.520 So we're going to leave this to the special counsel.
01:05:42.720 But he can't say.
01:05:44.360 Why can't you say?
01:05:45.400 You've you've opined on everything else.
01:05:47.840 You're no longer an employee.
01:05:49.420 You're no longer held to the same requirements of an FBI director.
01:05:54.340 Why can't you say?
01:05:55.720 I would love to hear.
01:05:57.200 I would absolutely love to hear.
01:05:58.740 We'll see if there's more breaking news out of this.
01:06:01.140 So far, there hasn't.
01:06:02.620 It's just kind of been bent news.
01:06:04.480 It hasn't been actual breaking news.
01:06:06.680 Nothing really big happening.
01:06:08.400 And I do have to get to Hillary Clinton and her slaves because I actually have audio.
01:06:14.600 It's not a joke.
01:06:16.140 She actually had slaves.
01:06:18.660 She and Bill and she talked about it and she knew it and she let it continue because I guess she didn't want to make waves.
01:06:27.920 I'll get that for you next when the Glenn Beck program continues.
01:06:34.720 You're listening to the Glenn Beck program.
01:06:42.580 You're listening to the Glenn Beck program.
01:06:44.920 Welcome back to the Glenn Beck program.
01:06:48.220 Michael Pelka filling in for my friend Glenn Beck.
01:06:50.600 You're welcome to join the conversation.
01:06:52.460 888-727-BECK.
01:06:55.400 That's 2325 if you're not doing the alphanumeric thing.
01:07:01.200 I'm going to get to Nell in Florida in just a minute, but I have to play you something that I heard this morning.
01:07:06.800 I got up very early, combing through all the stuff ahead of Cofefe 2017, Comey Fefe 2017.
01:07:15.080 And I heard Mika Brzezinski lose her mind.
01:07:20.040 And she lost her mind by saying the president's lost his mind.
01:07:26.160 It's about 50 seconds.
01:07:28.840 But listen to the future Mr. Brzezinski Scarborough try and talk Mika in off the ledge as she really did declare the president to be mentally ill.
01:07:41.920 I don't buy it.
01:07:44.300 He knew exactly what he was doing.
01:07:46.260 Well, I think he's such a narcissist.
01:07:48.480 It is possible that he's mentally ill in a way.
01:07:51.860 And this is on the table.
01:07:53.340 I said it months ago and now everybody's starting to say it like it's new and it's okay to say.
01:07:57.340 Yeah.
01:07:57.600 He's not well.
01:07:58.560 At the very least, he's not well.
01:08:00.640 And he's so narcissistic, he does not believe the rules apply to him.
01:08:05.000 Wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait.
01:08:06.520 Wait, Mika, you're pointing a finger at the president and saying he's narcissistic and not mentally okay.
01:08:16.960 He's unwell.
01:08:18.720 Three fingers pointing back at you, Mika.
01:08:22.100 Let's let her go because she's, they're just kind of letting it roll here.
01:08:26.080 Joe and Willie and Mike Barnacle and the crew, they're just letting her go.
01:08:30.980 They're just, keep feeding her a little more rope, Mika.
01:08:33.700 Keep going.
01:08:34.360 That's where the ignorance label may apply because this is a man who says he can grab women anywhere because he's famous.
01:08:42.900 He may think he can push her.
01:08:44.680 Well, that's, I think there's an innuendo to perhaps the other sex.
01:08:48.540 But anyhow, everyone has their ideas about why he said what he said.
01:08:52.060 Joe's trying to reel her in.
01:08:54.160 The fiance is trying to say, come in off the ledge, Mika.
01:08:57.340 Come on in.
01:08:58.100 I think, I think you're a little out there on this one.
01:09:00.900 Listen to Joe.
01:09:01.640 He's trying to save her, but the Mika train can't be derailed.
01:09:06.340 But the point is that he feels he can say or do things that are different than the norm because he's famous, because he's a celebrity, because he has power.
01:09:17.440 And you know what?
01:09:17.940 I need an eject button.
01:09:19.580 I need an eject button.
01:09:21.680 I need an eject button.
01:09:25.360 Oh, poor Joe.
01:09:26.600 I think Joe needs a hug.
01:09:28.680 Mika said the president is crazy.
01:09:33.900 And she's paid millions, millions to do what she does.
01:09:38.820 Nell in Florida.
01:09:40.160 How are you this morning?
01:09:42.560 Man, I was doing good till I heard that.
01:09:45.000 Yeah, that's a little bizarre, isn't it?
01:09:47.900 It's very bizarre.
01:09:49.040 Now, I was going to ask a question, but I asked a question to Ann.
01:09:52.340 I just want to make a statement.
01:09:53.600 Okay.
01:09:54.420 With this, all with this going on, and when it's found out that there's nothing, is will there be an investigation on CNN because they conspired to instruct the election when they gave Hillary Clinton all the questions to their debate to unfairly give her an advantage on a national television audience?
01:10:14.300 That's the first thing that I would hope that we can do since we're such an objective society now and we're thinking in terms of rational and rationale.
01:10:22.760 Now, the second question is, I'm seeing a lot.
01:10:25.320 The real question is, I'm seeing a lot of people run behind.
01:10:29.620 Like, they counted down when Comey's testimony was going to be.
01:10:34.000 Yeah.
01:10:34.220 Like, seriously, you know.
01:10:36.520 I'm up against the wall now.
01:10:38.960 I'll answer your question about the possible lawsuits against CNN because I don't think it's happening, investigation.
01:10:47.380 And we'll get into Hillary's slaves next on the Glenn Beck Program.
01:10:59.200 The Glenn Beck Program.
01:11:02.200 Mercury.
01:11:02.800 Mercury.
01:11:02.920 Mercury.
01:11:08.960 The Blaze Radio Network.
01:11:21.840 On Demand.
01:11:23.280 I will make a stand.
01:11:30.300 I will raise my voice.
01:11:32.640 I will hold your hand.
01:11:34.660 Because we are one.
01:11:36.820 I will beat my drum.
01:11:39.060 I have made my choice.
01:11:41.320 We will overcome.
01:11:43.600 Because we are one.
01:11:45.700 The fusion of entertainment and enlightenment.
01:11:49.620 This is the Glenn Beck Program.
01:11:53.080 My name is Mike Opelka.
01:11:57.060 I am filling in for my friend Glenn Beck today and tomorrow on the Blaze Radio Network and here on your local radio station on the Premier Radio Networks.
01:12:07.460 I appreciate you sticking with us today.
01:12:10.020 The phone number, 888-727-BECK.
01:12:13.580 727-2325.
01:12:15.300 If you don't want to do the letters, you want to do the numbers.
01:12:19.100 Because a lot of people do that.
01:12:21.260 We used to have all kinds of funky numbers that spelled things.
01:12:25.220 I know my phone number, my personal phone number, ends in the letters that spell Mike.
01:12:31.700 And my dad always was amazed at that.
01:12:34.060 And then he went out and had his cell phone number changed to end in Greg.
01:12:39.380 The apple doesn't fall far from the tree.
01:12:42.380 Couple of geeks.
01:12:43.120 I have to give a little update.
01:12:48.180 The sports update.
01:12:49.380 Those of you who know me know I have a nephew who's a little bit of a tennis phenom.
01:12:54.400 So keep your eyes peeled for young Riley Opelka.
01:12:57.480 He won his first round match trying to get into Wimbledon.
01:13:00.700 So we're keeping on.
01:13:01.720 Keep him in your thoughts and prayers.
01:13:03.240 He's a good kid.
01:13:04.100 19 years old.
01:13:05.500 One of the rising American stars.
01:13:07.140 Of course we're watching Comey Faithy 2017.
01:13:11.760 Comey Faithy 2017 has got the nation's attention.
01:13:15.640 Or at least everybody who can avoid going to work today.
01:13:19.860 And sitting at home and watching Jim Comey tell us either nothing.
01:13:24.860 Or that he'll tell the senators in private.
01:13:27.480 Or he's rehashing things we already knew.
01:13:29.740 So gigantic waste of time for this giant nothing burger.
01:13:33.580 Except there was a moment that was just captured as Dianne Feinstein, the senator from California,
01:13:39.520 was talking to Jim Comey and mentioned the tapes.
01:13:42.860 The tapes that Donald Trump alluded to when he tweeted after Comey talked about his memo.
01:13:50.000 When Donald Trump tweeted that Jim Comey better hope I don't have tapes before he starts leaking things.
01:14:00.080 And this was the exchange.
01:14:03.580 Why didn't you stop and say, Mr. President, this is wrong.
01:14:07.720 I cannot discuss this with you.
01:14:10.960 It's a great question.
01:14:11.840 Maybe if I were stronger, I would have.
01:14:14.840 I was so stunned by the conversation that I just took it in.
01:14:22.840 And the only thing I could think to say, because I was playing in my mind,
01:14:25.680 because I remember every word he said was playing in my mind, what should my response be?
01:14:31.200 And that's why I very carefully chose the words.
01:14:33.120 And look, I've seen the tweet about tapes.
01:14:35.320 Lordy, I hope there are tapes.
01:14:37.380 I remember saying, I agree he's a good guy, as a way of saying, I'm not agreeing with what you just asked me to do.
01:14:45.060 Again, maybe other people would be stronger in that circumstance, but that's how I conducted myself.
01:14:52.140 I hope I'll never have another opportunity.
01:14:54.220 Maybe if I did it again, I would do it better.
01:14:56.820 And how long before we have T-shirts that say this?
01:15:01.460 I've seen the tweet about tapes.
01:15:04.500 Lordy, I hope there are tapes.
01:15:06.040 Lordy, I hope there are tapes.
01:15:08.900 This is getting more bizarre by the moment.
01:15:11.840 I can't even imagine this.
01:15:13.620 And I also wonder what the hell the rest of the world's thinking.
01:15:17.620 Now, one of the great legal minds in this world is a guy named Alan Dershowitz.
01:15:21.540 Alan Dershowitz is a liberal.
01:15:23.440 Alan Dershowitz is not a guy that the GOP would normally call in to say, hey, can you back us up on this?
01:15:29.900 And Alan Dershowitz was talking with Anderson Cooper last night on CNN, and they were discussing the seven-page statement that Comey put out that was his opening statement today.
01:15:42.520 So the whole world saw the opening statement already.
01:15:45.460 And in there, we have said there is no evidence of obstruction of justice, while the Democrats are all saying this is all obstruction of justice.
01:15:54.620 At least the only guy who at CNN will say that is Jeffrey Toobin.
01:15:59.900 And then every Democrat quotes Toobin, saying, Toobin says that it must be obstruction.
01:16:06.280 But Alan Dershowitz gave us some great clarity on this.
01:16:09.680 Professor Dershowitz, you said this is not obstruction of justice by the president, and that it actually strengthens his position against Director Comey.
01:16:16.640 How so?
01:16:18.080 Well, first of all, let's look at the big constitutional picture.
01:16:20.220 The president could have told Comey, you are commanded, directed to drop the prosecution against Flynn.
01:16:26.820 The president has the right to do that.
01:16:29.560 Comey acknowledges that.
01:16:31.060 He says in the statement that historically, historically, presidents have done that to the Justice Department.
01:16:38.220 So first of all, let's remember this.
01:16:40.400 Historically, presidents have been able to tell the Justice Department and actually have told the Justice Department, stop this investigation.
01:16:51.620 It's within the power of the president.
01:16:54.420 It's the president's right.
01:16:55.980 It's part of his executive powers.
01:16:58.780 Dershowitz continues.
01:16:59.820 The past few years, we've had a tradition of separation, but that tradition doesn't create crime.
01:17:05.160 Remember also what the president could have done.
01:17:07.140 He could have said to Comey, stop this investigation.
01:17:09.900 I am now pardoning Flynn.
01:17:12.560 Two important points there in what Dershowitz said.
01:17:15.600 And one that's key is saying there was a tradition of separation between the executive Branson and the Department of Justice,
01:17:22.200 even though the head of the FBI and the attorney general all serve at the behest of the president.
01:17:28.760 But he said tradition does not make a crime.
01:17:33.420 Tradition does not make a crime.
01:17:35.140 A really key point there.
01:17:36.980 And he did say that the president has the right to say, I'm pardoning Flynn.
01:17:42.140 Therefore, there's no need for an investigation.
01:17:44.580 End it here.
01:17:45.580 Donald Trump didn't do that, but he had the power.
01:17:48.880 Comey or Dershowitz continues.
01:17:51.460 That's what President Bush did.
01:17:53.780 In the beginning of the investigation of Caspar Weinberger, which could have led back to the White House,
01:17:58.780 to the first President Bush, President Bush on the eve of the trial pardoned Caspar Weinberger,
01:18:04.400 pardoned six people, and Special Counsel Walsh said this is outrageous.
01:18:09.480 He's stopping the investigation.
01:18:11.440 Nobody talked about obstruction of justice.
01:18:13.580 You cannot have obstruction of justice when the president exercises his constitutional authority to pardon,
01:18:20.360 his constitutional authority to fire the director of the FBI or his constitutional authority to tell the director of the FBI who to prosecute, who not to prosecute.
01:18:30.140 So let's get out of the weeds and let's look at the big country.
01:18:33.400 So there it is.
01:18:36.060 From one of the most respected legal minds in the country who also happens to be a liberal,
01:18:41.160 you cannot have obstruction of justice here.
01:18:44.040 And what happened in no way was anywhere near obstruction of justice.
01:18:50.180 So how will Chuck Schumer?
01:18:51.600 How will Nancy Pelosi?
01:18:52.940 How will Maxine Waters?
01:18:54.540 How will all the hand-wringing Democrats deal with this?
01:18:57.880 Well, you can bet they're going to keep hammering.
01:19:00.820 They're going to keep hammering until they get something else, something else that will slow down the process.
01:19:09.380 There was also discussion, and I've been following thanks to the crew here, the research crew here.
01:19:15.340 Keith has been digging up different quotes on this.
01:19:18.080 Jamie Dupree, who covers Congress for a couple different radio and TV outlets,
01:19:23.740 has been cherry-picking some of the most interesting moments from this hearing.
01:19:29.160 And he said, Comey wrote memos about the Trump meetings and said,
01:19:32.660 That's why he wrote it.
01:19:40.640 So if he was actually nervous about it, we have to go back to the one question I would ask Comey.
01:19:47.380 Why didn't you bring it up?
01:19:49.380 Why did you wait till after you were fired?
01:19:51.540 Why did this all happen only after you were fired?
01:19:55.880 The other statement that really, really makes me crazy is Comey saying that the Attorney General Loretta Lynch,
01:20:03.580 Bill Clinton meeting on the tarmac, that meeting that all of us realized was not about grandkids and golf,
01:20:11.140 that any thinking, sane person would say,
01:20:13.920 No, they're not talking grandkids and golf for 45 minutes.
01:20:17.320 Because even I, a golfer who obsesses about playing the game,
01:20:22.480 knows that you will bore the tar out of people if you talk about golf for longer than five minutes.
01:20:28.380 Even golfers get tired of it.
01:20:30.620 We don't want to hear about it.
01:20:31.960 We want to play.
01:20:33.380 So sitting on the tarmac for 45 minutes just when your wife, Hillary, happens to be under investigation,
01:20:39.980 Oh, I don't know, and facing a possible breakdown in her dreams to become the president.
01:20:47.140 And you've got the Attorney General in front of you.
01:20:50.640 Gee, do you think they were talking about grandkids and golf?
01:20:54.420 No.
01:20:55.220 But Comey says the A.G.
01:20:57.260 Lynch and Bill Clinton tarmac meeting was the reason he went public with the email investigation.
01:21:03.740 Really?
01:21:06.740 Was it because that meeting actually had something else going on and you couldn't let it just slide away?
01:21:14.100 So you had to bring up the email investigation in order to maybe bring back some reality to the world?
01:21:21.680 This is amazing on so many levels.
01:21:24.760 Very amazing.
01:21:25.520 I'm going to step aside from Comey Feifei 2017 for just a few minutes and take a look into the real world out there.
01:21:35.900 I was wandering over to GlennBeck.com, and I encourage you to check out GlennBeck.com
01:21:42.280 because there are stories that are just vital to what we're dealing with in the world, but they're not all politics-based.
01:21:50.460 For example, our neighbors to the north, America's favorite suburb, or as Homer Simpson calls Canada, America's hat.
01:22:00.560 In Ontario, they pass a bill that's been called a totalitarian bill, which allows the government to take kids away from, are you ready?
01:22:12.120 Christian homes.
01:22:12.980 And if you don't think it can happen here, so much of what's going on in Canada is creeping into this country,
01:22:20.960 including what they have done to their health care system.
01:22:24.460 But the story is out of Toronto, and it's Ontario's Kathleen Wynne.
01:22:30.380 Kathleen Wynne says liberals have passed what critics describe as a totalitarian bill by a vote of 63 to 23.
01:22:39.640 63 to 23.
01:22:41.100 So this wasn't a squeaker.
01:22:43.720 Pro-family advocates warn that Bill 89 gives the state more power to seize kids from families
01:22:48.920 that oppose LGBTQ, R, S, T, U, Y, X, W, Z, and gender ideology agenda.
01:22:57.100 And the government agencies can go in and ban couples who disagree with that agenda from fostering or adopting kids.
01:23:05.560 Can you imagine?
01:23:07.120 Can you imagine the situation?
01:23:08.820 It also has now added gender identity and gender expression as factors to be considered in the best interest of the child.
01:23:18.900 The state is taking over.
01:23:22.080 It's maddening if we don't stand up now and say, no, hands off the kids.
01:23:26.860 And I'm warning you to keep an eye out for you homeschoolers.
01:23:30.800 The homeschool families, I'm guessing the government's coming for you next.
01:23:34.640 It would be a great concern for me if I was homeschooling.
01:23:39.460 We have to protect your rights to be parents.
01:23:42.660 I believe that there are so many progressives out there who actually think, as Hillary Clinton did in her book,
01:23:49.360 it takes a village, that the kids are part of all of ours.
01:23:55.600 There are responsibility.
01:23:57.600 There are property.
01:24:00.160 We must shape them and mold them.
01:24:02.360 Well, speaking of that book, I want to play you a quote from that book.
01:24:07.280 And it kind of exposes the fact that Hillary Clinton and Bill Clinton had slaves.
01:24:12.400 I'll play it for you next when the Glenn Beck Program returns.
01:24:17.360 The Glenn Beck Program.
01:24:21.960 Mercury.
01:24:26.400 888-727-BECK.
01:24:28.580 This is the Glenn Beck Program.
01:24:31.760 It is the Glenn Beck Program.
01:24:33.260 Michael Pelka hosting for my friend Glenn Beck.
01:24:35.500 I'll be here today and tomorrow.
01:24:38.180 And my program will continue on the Blaze Radio Network after this.
01:24:42.040 This is called Piero Pelka.
01:24:43.200 You're welcome to join.
01:24:44.220 You're welcome to follow me on Twitter at StuntBrain.
01:24:47.640 All one word.
01:24:48.820 S-T-U-N-T-B-R-A-I-N.
01:24:50.580 And as the announcer guy said, you're welcome to call in and discuss the day's events or anything.
01:24:57.140 888-727-BECK, which is 2325.
01:25:00.580 Beck spells 2325.
01:25:02.740 Russ from Iowa is checking in.
01:25:06.020 Russ, welcome to the program.
01:25:07.600 Sam, I see an exclamation point after your summary of what you want to talk about.
01:25:13.960 I'm guessing you're charged up about something.
01:25:17.600 Well, I'm just watching this and it's obvious this is payback.
01:25:24.580 Oh, yes.
01:25:25.140 You're going to be a rocket scientist to figure out that Comey came with one intent.
01:25:32.100 And, you know, my complaint about Comey is he could have said all these things in closed session if it was that big a deal before he was ever fired.
01:25:41.800 Yes, he could.
01:25:42.340 I'll make two predictions.
01:25:45.660 Some Republicans are going to fall away like a 60-cent pair of wet socks.
01:25:51.260 And the Democrats are going to pull together and they're not going to let this go, period.
01:26:02.200 No matter what happens, and especially with a special prosecutor, I mean, he was a protege of Comey.
01:26:11.860 He's going to do everything he can to lift Comey up and make him look as good as he can in this investigation.
01:26:18.440 And all I can say is, you know, I pray for Trump every day, but I also pray that, number one, he doesn't stick his foot in his mouth and nothing else comes up.
01:26:31.860 Because they're going to turn over every rock from Lutawisi to Russia to find something on this guy.
01:26:38.720 And you better watch out.
01:26:39.940 You're right, Russ, and I appreciate your call.
01:26:42.140 Thank you for weighing in.
01:26:43.380 People from Iowa.
01:26:44.940 Iowa is a fantastic state.
01:26:47.460 I've known people from Iowa for decades.
01:26:50.180 And at one point, Iowa tried to change the state motto to a state of minds.
01:26:55.460 And I guess they didn't make it happen, but it's true.
01:26:57.880 It's so true.
01:26:58.620 So I appreciate you, Russ.
01:27:01.140 You've come up with some great thoughts.
01:27:03.840 This thing needs to be watched.
01:27:05.600 The Democrats aren't giving up.
01:27:07.060 Russ is absolutely 100 percent right.
01:27:09.280 Trump has unified the Democrats.
01:27:11.500 We would have thought a Hillary Clinton presidency would have unified them.
01:27:15.320 No, they have they have come together in in their defeat.
01:27:19.360 And it's been one of the most interesting things I've seen politically in all my years of covering the politics.
01:27:25.700 All right.
01:27:26.560 Shifting back to my years of covering the Clintons back in the 90s.
01:27:32.080 And when it take it takes a village came out in 1996, Hillary Clinton got so many different awards.
01:27:39.060 I think she won a Grammy for her recording of It Takes a Village.
01:27:43.720 I actually believe she beat out several different people in the area of spoken word.
01:27:49.420 It should have been in the comedy category, maybe.
01:27:52.280 No, just spoken word.
01:27:53.840 But she did win the Grammy.
01:27:55.480 We know she didn't write the whole book.
01:27:57.440 She had help.
01:27:58.520 But that's what happens with these political books.
01:28:01.140 They're put out.
01:28:02.300 They try to show your your real true political roots.
01:28:07.280 And her progressivism was on display when she gave us It Takes a Village.
01:28:12.220 It's it's right there.
01:28:14.600 But also within the book was Hillary Clinton's admission of owning slaves.
01:28:20.840 And I said that this morning and half the heads in here went, what?
01:28:25.700 Hillary Clinton had slaves?
01:28:27.320 Yes, she did.
01:28:28.900 And she talked about it.
01:28:30.520 It's in the book.
01:28:31.940 You can hear.
01:28:32.760 I learned a lot as I.
01:28:34.360 Wait, go, Hillary.
01:28:35.800 We enforced the rules strictly and sent back to prison any inmate who broke one.
01:28:41.120 One unusual aspect of living in the Arkansas governor's mansion was getting to know prison
01:28:47.000 inmates who were assigned to work in the house and the yard.
01:28:50.540 When we moved in, I was told that using prison labor at the governor's mansion was a longstanding
01:28:56.020 tradition that kept down costs.
01:28:58.800 And I was assured that the inmates were carefully screened.
01:29:02.240 Now, I had defended several clients in criminal cases.
01:29:05.100 But seeing them in jail or in court was not the same as encountering a convicted murderer
01:29:12.180 in the kitchen every morning.
01:29:14.520 I was apprehensive.
01:29:16.300 But I agreed to abide by tradition until I had a chance to see for myself.
01:29:21.320 So Hillary Clinton admits that when she and Bill moved into the governor's mansion, when
01:29:30.120 Bill was governor of Arkansas, that they used labor, prison labor, for 10 years.
01:29:38.720 That they actually used unpaid labor.
01:29:42.980 People that had been screened.
01:29:44.960 They told had been, they picked the best.
01:29:47.740 Does this remind you of anything?
01:29:50.000 If you remove the word prisoner or inmate and you insert the word slave, does it change
01:29:58.160 anything?
01:29:59.280 For my money, this is Hillary Clinton.
01:30:01.880 And why this never came out before, why this woman was allowed to be a senator from New York
01:30:07.860 and the secretary of state and damn near the president astounds me.
01:30:13.620 If you don't believe me, it's all over the place now.
01:30:15.580 It came out two days ago.
01:30:16.640 Hillary Clinton, Bill Clinton, they didn't stand up and say, no, we don't want these people
01:30:23.840 unpaid prison labor, slave labor from the state.
01:30:30.000 I'm not crazy, am I?
01:30:31.840 Michael Pelka on the Glenn Beck Program.
01:30:33.820 We'll be back after the break.
01:30:35.340 Don't answer that question.
01:30:36.500 It was rhetorical.
01:30:37.380 It is the Glenn Beck Program.
01:30:59.580 Michael Pelka sitting in for my friend Glenn Beck.
01:31:02.200 And before we went away, I played a clip that's from Hillary Clinton's audio book from It Takes
01:31:11.520 a Village.
01:31:12.280 And it's where Hillary admits that she and Bill for 10 years used unpaid prison labor in
01:31:18.840 the governor's mansion because it was good for the budget.
01:31:22.780 It was money saving and that they knew these were good inmates, that these were the inmates
01:31:28.440 that had been screened, that they were safe.
01:31:30.220 And I said that they were slaves, which basically I still stand by that.
01:31:35.980 Stacey in Indiana is calling me out on this, and I welcome this kind of dialogue, Stacey.
01:31:41.320 Welcome to the Glenn Beck Program.
01:31:42.820 Nice to make your acquaintance.
01:31:44.560 You say I'm pushing it.
01:31:46.060 You think so?
01:31:47.720 Just a little bit.
01:31:49.140 Mostly because, you know, first off, if you're in prison, you're paying a debt to society.
01:31:54.720 And they have to have work release programs and all that.
01:31:58.220 I doubt that, you know, and what she said in the part that you had played of her reading,
01:32:05.460 she made the comment about having a murderer in her kitchen.
01:32:08.520 Yeah.
01:32:09.960 I'm calling that one out big time.
01:32:12.340 I seriously doubt any state prison would ever release a murderer or put a murderer
01:32:18.520 and work release in the governor's house.
01:32:20.520 Well, that's a good point.
01:32:22.200 So you're saying she may have even exaggerated that statement.
01:32:27.680 But in a sense, though, even though they're under the control of the state,
01:32:32.160 that's the state providing manpower at no cost to the governor's mansion.
01:32:37.440 These are essentially servants living or working under the roof of the governor and the first lady of Arkansas.
01:32:45.620 To me, you know, it smells like slavery.
01:32:48.620 If you're going to tell me, well, guess what?
01:32:50.880 You're going to stay here every night.
01:32:52.940 You can't leave.
01:32:54.340 You're property of the state right now.
01:32:56.520 And while you're here, you're also going to go do things for the governor.
01:33:00.140 And we're only going to take the ones we we think are worthy of being around the governor.
01:33:04.560 It sounds a little slavey to me or you're allowed to disagree all you want.
01:33:09.800 But that's what this country is about.
01:33:12.700 I think what you're saying on that.
01:33:14.540 Yeah, I exaggerate to clarify.
01:33:16.120 And that's sometimes what hyperbole is all about.
01:33:18.280 I'm just saying it's odd to me that this never came up during any of her campaigns.
01:33:23.860 I lived and worked in New York when she ran as the carpetbagging senator.
01:33:28.360 And then she was our secretary of state and almost president.
01:33:32.180 Damn near president.
01:33:33.360 It should be on her business card.
01:33:34.840 Hillary Clinton.
01:33:35.720 Damn near president.
01:33:37.160 But but, you know, I appreciate you weighing in on it, Stacey.
01:33:40.680 That's what this is about.
01:33:42.720 Well, I was thinking that I guess I was thinking the reason I said it was pushing a little bit was
01:33:47.300 because, you know, I mean, when you're if you're in prison, which I've never been.
01:33:50.980 But but work release in the governor's mansion would be a cakewalk compared to sitting in a prison.
01:33:57.660 So if you are doing work for the governor and everything, that's why I say it's it's I
01:34:02.320 I can kind of see it both ways.
01:34:04.440 I get what you're saying about it, because, yes, it is forced labor.
01:34:07.480 But then again, if you're paying your debt to society, you know,
01:34:11.320 would you rather be sitting in that cell and playing in the prison yard and maybe getting shanked?
01:34:15.980 Or would you rather be working in the governor's mansion?
01:34:18.080 I'm betting those guys got screened and maybe they didn't.
01:34:22.320 Maybe they had a choice.
01:34:23.240 Maybe they didn't.
01:34:23.960 I don't know.
01:34:24.500 But I get what you're saying, though.
01:34:26.080 I mean, I can see it from both sides.
01:34:27.440 Well, thank you, Stacey.
01:34:28.640 There are some people who would say they would prefer hard labor in the yard as opposed to
01:34:34.020 hanging out with Hillary and listening to that shrill voice.
01:34:37.500 I exaggerate again to clarify.
01:34:40.120 Susan in Rhode Island is checking in.
01:34:42.200 Susan, how are you?
01:34:43.120 What's going on?
01:34:43.920 Well, good morning, Mr. Opelka.
01:34:45.920 You're doing a great job.
01:34:47.140 Thank you for your vote of confidence.
01:34:48.720 Please be here tomorrow.
01:34:49.880 We need all of you.
01:34:51.000 Oh, of course.
01:34:52.080 I'm with the Glenn Beck program every morning.
01:34:54.600 Oh, good.
01:34:55.220 Good.
01:34:55.420 I'm here every day.
01:34:57.460 As far as the whole slave thing, look, they make license plates up here in Rhode Island.
01:35:02.340 So they're always working.
01:35:04.320 The prisoners are always working.
01:35:05.580 They're on the highway.
01:35:06.500 They're everywhere.
01:35:07.320 Well, the question would probably be, were they paid?
01:35:09.980 Because back in the day, when it went 25 cents an hour.
01:35:14.320 Yeah.
01:35:14.440 They don't get minimum wage.
01:35:16.060 You know, and if Hillary was really the advocate that she claims to be, she would have demanded
01:35:21.940 minimum wage or, you know, the fight for 15, as we're hearing today.
01:35:26.480 What's on your mind, though?
01:35:27.520 What else is happening?
01:35:28.180 What's really on my mind is this.
01:35:30.500 You're not the last caller, the caller before.
01:35:34.760 When he talked about he's afraid that the Democrats are not going to let go of this.
01:35:39.420 Of course they're not.
01:35:40.760 They're not going to let go of this thing with Trump and Comey, et cetera, until Trump resigns.
01:35:47.660 I am a devout conservative, a devout Christian.
01:35:51.500 I supported Ted Cruz even after he got out of the race.
01:35:54.640 I wanted something spectacular to happen at the convention, and it didn't.
01:35:59.820 My fear in all of this, and what a lot of people are not talking about, as they should be,
01:36:06.660 whether there is any ties to Russia or not, whether he actually asked Comey to lay off the investigation or not,
01:36:15.840 what it's doing is damaging the conservative brand.
01:36:19.780 And that's the thing we have to be most aware of, because right now he's the tittle-ahead of the party,
01:36:26.140 and a lot of people out there say he is a conservative and he's not.
01:36:29.980 We've heard this argument before.
01:36:31.660 Right.
01:36:31.980 But what it's doing is damaging the things that we wanted to see done.
01:36:37.160 Yes, we got Judge Gorsuch.
01:36:39.080 Amen.
01:36:39.840 I say prayers of thank you every night for that.
01:36:42.900 But there's been nothing since.
01:36:44.560 Now, Mitch McConnell pushing the House bill, ramming that through, that doesn't repeal Obamacare at all.
01:36:54.200 What we heard today from Scotty Nell Hughes earlier was Mitch McConnell is pushing through the Senate bill,
01:37:01.280 and we haven't seen it.
01:37:03.200 So that's what my question should have been to Scotty was, what's in the Senate bill?
01:37:08.220 Because I would love to know what the heck is in it.
01:37:10.260 And they've said they've written their own bill, but have you seen it?
01:37:14.740 No, I haven't seen it.
01:37:16.340 I would love to see it, and we'll see.
01:37:18.480 And in terms of Trump resigning, I think the only thing keeping the Democrats from going whole hog on impeachment
01:37:27.140 or trying to get Donald Trump out are the words President Pence,
01:37:32.060 because they know what a strong conservative President Pence is,
01:37:35.740 and my liberal friends are more terrified of him than they are of Donald Trump.
01:37:40.960 Thank you for your call, Susan, in Rhode Island.
01:37:43.080 Greg in Utah is checking in all over the country.
01:37:46.440 Greg, welcome to the Glenn Beck program.
01:37:49.160 Thank you, and hi.
01:37:50.860 To me, it's obvious that the Russians wanted Hillary to win, not Trump.
01:37:55.700 And it bothers me that no Republicans seem to be pointing this out.
01:37:59.800 Well, can you lay out the case for the Russians?
01:38:02.620 What would lead you to believe the Russians would want Hillary to win?
01:38:06.480 Well, here's five quick reasons.
01:38:09.140 First, missile defense taken away from Poland and the Czech Republic.
01:38:14.140 Second, 1994 treaty broken.
01:38:16.820 Russia takes over Crimea.
01:38:18.720 Third, first time since the 1970s.
01:38:21.640 Russia gets back in a dominant position in the Middle East.
01:38:24.960 Four, with defense spending, obviously Trump's going to spend a lot more on defense.
01:38:28.720 Five, obviously Trump is going to really ramp up energy production, which Hillary would never have done,
01:38:34.720 knocks down the price of oil, and hurts Russia.
01:38:37.060 And there's lots of other reasons to it.
01:38:39.900 No one seems to be pointing this out for the Republicans.
01:38:43.360 Well, you bring up some solid points, Greg,
01:38:46.560 especially the points about the fact that a Democratic administration
01:38:50.280 would pretty much let Russia and Putin and his agenda continue pushing forward.
01:38:57.400 And a guy like Trump who will push our energy agenda,
01:39:01.020 and that gives Putin problems because Putin is the guy who wants to go into the Arctic Circle
01:39:06.020 and claim the Arctic Circle and all of the energy that's underneath it,
01:39:11.160 which we understand is massive, is the property of Russia.
01:39:14.920 He wants to run a pipeline under the ice and grab all the gas and the oil that's there.
01:39:20.380 And Putin also does want to shape the Middle East.
01:39:23.180 He wants to get control of as much of the world as he can.
01:39:27.360 And you're right.
01:39:28.460 Hillary would probably have backed off.
01:39:30.340 So it does bring some interesting questions to bear on whether or not that's the case.
01:39:35.840 Thank you for your call, sir.
01:39:37.460 I just have been trying to grab a quick story from the testimony,
01:39:42.800 because it's still going on, and every network's covering it.
01:39:46.420 ABC, CBS, CNN, MSNBC, Fox News, NBC itself.
01:39:51.680 The New York Times has an army of people covering it.
01:39:54.900 PBS is there.
01:39:56.100 Twitter is live streaming it.
01:39:58.700 If you want to see the full list of who's obsessed and covering Comey Feifei 2017,
01:40:05.660 Glenn Beck.com has it posted under the headline,
01:40:08.400 Obsessed Much Media Offer nonstop streaming of the Jim Comey testifying.
01:40:14.160 And there will be endless analysis.
01:40:16.160 We will be on this.
01:40:17.580 We covered some of the bars that are opening early.
01:40:20.460 We talked to a bar in San Francisco,
01:40:23.340 and we talked to a bar in D.C.
01:40:26.240 that have all opened early today to cover this.
01:40:29.800 But here's the curious thought about the coverage.
01:40:33.300 And I try to be a little bit of a media watchdog.
01:40:36.840 That's one of the things I attempt to look at is who's bending their agenda
01:40:42.360 or bending their coverage to meet their agenda on all of this news.
01:40:47.880 And all morning long, CNN has been cutting and posting
01:40:52.020 little bits and pieces of Comey's testimony.
01:40:56.040 And one of the most interesting things is not what they're posting,
01:40:59.840 but it's what CNN is not posting that has me asking the question,
01:41:05.600 what are you really saying, CNN?
01:41:07.640 According to Jamie Dupree, a guy we monitor on Twitter,
01:41:10.900 who gives, I think, a pretty good accounting of things,
01:41:13.800 Marco Rubio, the senator from Florida,
01:41:18.620 the guy that ran a pretty reasonable campaign until he ran into Donald Trump,
01:41:24.220 Marco Rubio asked three questions or talked about the three Trump asks to Comey.
01:41:34.080 Trump asked Comey to be loyal, to let Flynn go,
01:41:38.580 and to tell public that Donald Trump is not under investigation.
01:41:43.020 But you know what's missing in that five minutes of Marco Rubio's questioning of Jim Comey?
01:41:50.620 You can't find it on CNN right now.
01:41:53.280 They decided not to put this on.
01:41:56.220 And I talked to Keith in the back during the break.
01:41:59.100 He said, if you want to know why Donald Trump will be exonerated
01:42:02.320 and will come out of this with a victory, vindicated, exonerated, free,
01:42:08.880 watch the testimony of Marco Rubio, the questioning of Marco Rubio and Jim Comey.
01:42:15.800 He said, therein lies the complete answer.
01:42:18.380 And I haven't seen it because, guess what, CNN's not running it.
01:42:23.540 When we take a break, I'm going to look over and see if Fox is posting any of it.
01:42:27.880 We'll find out if there is real, fair, and balanced reporting going on on Comey Feifei 2017.
01:42:35.140 We'll be right back on the Glenn Beck Program.
01:42:36.980 This is the Glenn Beck Program.
01:42:43.640 Mercury.
01:42:47.440 The Glenn Beck Program.
01:42:49.200 It is the Glenn Beck Program.
01:42:51.480 Michael Pelka wrapping up my first day of a two-day fill-in.
01:42:54.420 I hope you will be here tomorrow as we finish the week and finish Glenn's vacation
01:42:59.520 with another episode of the Glenn Beck Program.
01:43:03.500 We are going to break down in a more detailed fashion the best moments from today's Comey Feifei 2017.
01:43:14.380 It doesn't really roll off the tongue, does it?
01:43:16.720 Comey Feifei.
01:43:18.700 It sounds like some sort of strange language that the people on Survivor created.
01:43:23.840 Comey Feifei?
01:43:24.980 Yes, indeed, we will.
01:43:27.360 I'm going to grab a quick call before we get out of here.
01:43:29.940 Tim from South Carolina is calling.
01:43:32.180 Tim, I love your state.
01:43:34.300 I love the golf courses.
01:43:35.780 I love the food.
01:43:37.020 I love the people.
01:43:38.140 Welcome to the Glenn Beck Show.
01:43:40.000 Thanks.
01:43:40.340 Doing a great job filling in.
01:43:41.640 Thank you, except I didn't say program.
01:43:43.840 I'm going to get a demerit for not saying the Glenn Beck Program.
01:43:47.120 Oh, no.
01:43:47.740 I know.
01:43:48.560 It's tough.
01:43:50.200 I hear you.
01:43:50.900 Hey, I'm just going to give you a quick comment on the video book that you played from Hillary.
01:43:55.440 Yeah.
01:43:55.940 Maybe that murder she was referring to being in the governor's mansion kitchen would have been her,
01:44:00.580 and not a convict.
01:44:02.540 You're saying that Hillary Clinton was the murderer in the kitchen?
01:44:08.040 Just throwing it out there.
01:44:10.180 Well, here's where you're wrong on that.
01:44:13.260 That would have presumed that Hillary would then have been doing the cooking or the cleaning,
01:44:18.720 and we know that didn't happen.
01:44:20.420 So I'm shooting down your theory, but I appreciate you being here, Tim.
01:44:24.200 Thank you very much.
01:44:25.700 One of the weirdest moments that's gone on in the Jim Comey testimony today,
01:44:30.940 and I'm glad we got to cover with Jason Buttrell some of the stories happening around the world.
01:44:36.260 It wasn't all just Comey Feifei today.
01:44:38.380 I'm glad we got to cover what happened in Iran and what happened with our embassy in Ukraine.
01:44:43.840 I didn't get to Fast and Furious.
01:44:45.540 I'm going to continue on My Blaze radio program talking about the latest on Fast and Furious.
01:44:51.420 But one of the strangest moments in this marathon day just happened
01:44:57.880 when Comey explained how the meeting with Trump actually got scheduled.
01:45:04.720 He called me at my desk at lunchtime and asked me,
01:45:08.860 was I free for dinner that night?
01:45:11.460 I called himself and said, can you come over for dinner tonight?
01:45:15.180 And I said, yes, sir.
01:45:16.100 He said, well, six work.
01:45:17.560 I think he said six first.
01:45:19.100 And then he said, I was going to invite your whole family, but we'll do that next time.
01:45:21.800 I wanted you to come over.
01:45:23.180 And is that a good time?
01:45:24.340 I said, sir, whatever works for you.
01:45:26.160 And then he said, how about 630?
01:45:28.380 And I said, whatever works for you, sir.
01:45:30.200 And then I hung up and had to call my wife and break a date with her.
01:45:33.440 I was supposed to take her out to dinner that night.
01:45:36.660 That's one of the all-time great excuses for breaking a date.
01:45:40.480 In retrospect, I love spending time with my wife.
01:45:43.240 I wish I'd been there that night.
01:45:44.480 I think this is almost on par with the questioning of Clarence Thomas and the Anita Hill hearings,
01:45:57.020 where we're starting to get into really bizarro territory.
01:46:00.720 I can't wait to see what else pops up.
01:46:02.680 But I pledged to you I'm going to comb through Marco Rubio's segment since they won't show it to us.
01:46:08.160 I still maintain the greatest way to get these hearings done properly and expeditiously
01:46:15.440 would to force these Bobos to do the entire hearing standing up.
01:46:21.460 Because none of them would bloviate for the eight hours or whatever it's going to take today.
01:46:27.600 They'd ask their questions.
01:46:29.160 We'd get our answers and would all be done.
01:46:31.980 Join me again tomorrow on the Glenn Beck Program.
01:46:34.780 Testudo, my friends.
01:46:36.760 Testudo.
01:46:38.160 This is the Glenn Beck Program.
01:46:52.780 Mercury.
