00:00:00.000 Hello America, my name is James T. Harris and I am a unicorn.

00:00:17.780 According to the Urban Dictionary, a unicorn is a mythical creature, someone amazing who is hard to catch or simply a very hard find.

00:00:28.080 The term is often describing someone who is remarkably attractive, but not at all crazy and has a great personality.

00:00:36.880 That's me. I am a husband to a smoking hot wife, a father to three perfect kids.

00:00:43.140 They never do anything wrong ever, but that's not what makes me mythical.

00:00:47.080 No. What makes me a very rare find is the fact that I am a radio talk show host who is an American of African descent, conservative and has a great face for television.

00:01:01.000 Yes, I am a beautiful man. My show was called The Conservative Circus.

00:01:05.300 I am the ringmaster and the big top is News Talk 550 KFYI out of Phoenix, Arizona. 0.96

00:01:12.680 Now, if you would have told me any time in my life up to a few weeks ago that this day would happen, I'd say you're crazy.

00:01:22.080 But here I am sitting in Fort Glenn Beck.

00:01:26.380 I'm honored. I'm also very, very frightened, but that's OK because you're right here with me.

00:01:31.980 Millions of you. Before I was in radio, I was a professional speaker.

00:01:38.720 Before I was a speaker, I was a high school teacher for for 10 years.

00:01:43.120 But I have always been the child of Randolph and Desi Harris.

00:01:47.240 And the one thing they demanded of my sister and me was that we respected our elders.

00:01:55.720 An adult is never wrong. Even when they are wrong, you will show respect.

00:02:00.580 That's what my father said. I have a childhood memory of my father walking into my elementary school class.

00:02:09.500 Looking to see where I was. We had eye contact.

00:02:13.160 Then he went over to the teacher. The teacher's name was Mr. Fritchie.

00:02:16.600 I remember it because this was a traumatic experience that I had.

00:02:20.440 The teacher was surprised. Mr. Fritchie was like, Mr. Harris, why are you here?

00:02:24.200 They had met during parent teacher conferences. And my father told Mr. Fritchie, if my son ever gives you any problems, if my son ever disrespects you, you have my permission to whoop his assets.

00:02:41.680 That's what he said. He didn't say assets, but, you know.

00:02:44.340 And my eyes went wide and I sat straight up. And Mr. Fritchie said to my father, Mr. Harris, I'm sure things won't come to that.

00:02:52.620 I mean, James, he's a very disciplined young man.

00:02:55.620 And my father said, just in case, I want you to know.

00:02:59.400 I want him to know. I want the class to know.

00:03:02.480 You have my permission.

00:03:05.720 My parents were very, very serious about respecting authority.

00:03:12.420 I tried to pass that on to my kids.

00:03:14.800 Now, you have that first kid and you're that first kid is wonderful.

00:03:17.980 That first kid is perfect.

00:03:19.080 And you think that, you know what?

00:03:20.540 You are the greatest parents on the planet.

00:03:24.800 Then God gives you that second child to let you know you had nothing to do with it.

00:03:30.640 My number two wild child.

00:03:33.640 My number two, you know, number one would say, Mom, can I cross the line?

00:03:37.740 And Mom would say, no.

00:03:39.420 And so he would stay four feet from it.

00:03:42.620 My number two, Mom, can I cross the line?

00:03:44.980 No.

00:03:45.620 He would get his toes right on the other side of the line.

00:03:49.840 And then when you weren't looking, he put his foot all the way over and then bring it back.

00:03:54.560 Number two, when we go to parent-teacher conferences, obviously he was very, very bright.

00:03:59.740 But, you know, he acted out.

00:04:02.120 My solution, well, I pulled it from my father.

00:04:05.780 I said, look, put my name on the board and put my telephone number, my cell number right next to it.

00:04:13.100 If you ever have a problem, just point to that number.

00:04:16.840 And number two, whenever he did have a problem, the teacher pointed to the number and he just sat down.

00:04:22.980 Eyes wide.

00:04:24.600 Back straight.

00:04:25.200 We respect authority.

00:04:28.880 Never had a real problem out of my number three, my daughter, until she grew up and turned into a teenager. 1.00

00:04:34.000 But that's a different story for a different day.

00:04:38.080 Respecting authority.

00:04:39.300 When I was a high school teacher, I was the first American of African descent working in that high school.

00:04:45.460 And there were there were black students there.

00:04:49.180 They tried me.

00:04:50.620 I'm at the board and I'm putting up the lesson.

00:04:52.880 And all of a sudden, boom, I get hit in the back of the head with an eraser. 0.99

00:04:57.960 From two black kids. 0.99

00:04:59.400 Again, I'm the only black teacher in the school.

00:05:01.160 How are you going to treat me like this?

00:05:02.260 What?

00:05:03.160 What?

00:05:03.980 You know, I turned around to them and said the same thing Don Lemon said to me years later when I was on his show, you know, during the presidential debate with Obama.

00:05:13.320 I said, brother, really?

00:05:16.200 Really?

00:05:17.440 Seriously?

00:05:18.440 I shut the class down.

00:05:20.900 I took off some paper and put some tape over the window.

00:05:24.380 And the students were like, what are you doing, Mr. Harris?

00:05:26.300 I'm like, you know what?

00:05:26.860 Class is over.

00:05:28.060 When the bell rings, I want everybody out of the class except for you two.

00:05:32.260 I said in the front row, the ones who threw the eraser at my head.

00:05:37.400 The kids left the classroom.

00:05:39.140 I locked the door.

00:05:40.100 They couldn't see in because that's why I put the paper up.

00:05:42.800 And then I did something very unprofessional.

00:05:45.240 I took off my suit coat.

00:05:47.860 I wore a suit and tie every day as a teacher.

00:05:49.860 You know, I think that that would sort of command more respect.

00:05:53.380 I loosened up my tie.

00:05:54.900 I rolled up my shirt.

00:05:55.960 And then I went over and I engaged the two young men.

00:06:00.080 And then I opened a door and I threw their books and their coats out.

00:06:04.480 It was the last class of the day.

00:06:05.760 And then I packed up all of my stuff because I knew that I was going to be fired.

00:06:11.400 I knew it.

00:06:13.480 You just can't engage people like that.

00:06:16.340 You can't do that.

00:06:17.540 So I was expecting to be called down to the principal's office just like students do.

00:06:22.440 And I was expecting to be dismissed.

00:06:24.640 It didn't happen.

00:06:26.900 The day after that, it didn't happen.

00:06:28.780 The day after that, it didn't happen.

00:06:30.260 So I went to the students.

00:06:31.840 They came to the class.

00:06:32.560 They were perfectly well behaved.

00:06:34.680 They were respectful.

00:06:35.960 And I kept them after class.

00:06:38.320 One day, I'm like, hey, you know what?

00:06:40.720 What happened?

00:06:41.940 They're like, what do you mean?

00:06:42.980 I said, didn't you go home and tell your parents what happened?

00:06:45.600 And they said, no.

00:06:46.940 I'm like, why? 1.00

00:06:48.540 They said, because they would have whooped our ass heads too. 1.00

00:06:52.000 Oh, your parents demanded respect. 0.99

00:06:57.480 Your parents would have been embarrassed if they knew how you treated a teacher, someone in authority.

00:07:06.000 Yes, Mr. Harris.

00:07:06.900 Okay.

00:07:07.820 Well, I'm glad we have this understanding.

00:07:11.120 Funny sidebar story.

00:07:12.440 Years later, I was driving to church.

00:07:14.020 Had the whole family, all three kids.

00:07:15.680 And we were driving to church.

00:07:16.880 And I noticed that a car did a U-turn and started following me.

00:07:19.260 And it kind of freaked me out.

00:07:20.120 I turned left.

00:07:20.740 He turned left.

00:07:21.260 I turned right.

00:07:21.760 He turned right.

00:07:22.820 Followed me right into the parking lot of the church.

00:07:27.040 And I'm like, okay, this is serious business.

00:07:29.240 Honey, let's get the kids out. 1.00

00:07:30.540 Get in church.

00:07:31.020 Somebody get somebody out here.

00:07:32.720 You know, I'm being stalked.

00:07:35.720 Well, it turns out that the stalker was one of the kids that I had the engagement with years ago.

00:07:41.060 He saw me driving in the minivan, recognized me, and just wanted to talk to me.

00:07:46.440 He had his wife in the car, and he had two kids.

00:07:49.440 And he said, Mr. Harris, I thought that was you.

00:07:52.620 Mr. Harris, do you remember that day?

00:07:55.400 I'm like, of course I remember that day.

00:07:58.100 He said, Mr. Harris, I just want you to know I graduated from high school.

00:08:01.000 I went to the Navy.

00:08:03.180 I've had so much success.

00:08:05.220 I told my wife about you.

00:08:06.980 I told my friends about you.

00:08:08.540 I told them about that day and how that day really just changed things for me and how important respect is.

00:08:15.620 I was relieved that it wasn't something serious, but I was also very much humbled.

00:08:25.440 Respect.

00:08:25.840 All of this floods into my mind as I face the fact that the First Lady of the United States of America goes to an opiate summit.

00:08:41.900 And there's Americans of African descent, kids, really middle schoolers.

00:08:49.500 She walks in.

00:08:51.860 Here's a woman who is learned. 0.98

00:08:54.000 Here's a woman who speaks multiple languages.

00:08:56.680 Here's a woman who has dedicated her time and her resources to address a problem that is plaguing America, that is plaguing this neighborhood.

00:09:09.440 And she is greeted with a course of booze.

00:09:19.360 Booze.

00:09:21.520 See, the headlines say that the First Lady was booed at an opiate summit.

00:09:27.300 But if it were reversed, they would introduce race to the equation.

00:09:32.760 See, see, see, see, see, it should read black students boo first lady. 1.00

00:09:41.020 But the media is not going to do that, are they? 0.60

00:09:44.920 No, they're not.

00:09:47.900 So we have to we have to break this down because I think there are two factors.

00:09:54.260 There are two things that are at work here.

00:09:56.680 One of them is the absolute breakdown of the family.

00:10:04.140 But the other is how the media is manipulating, how the media is spinning.

00:10:14.580 How the media is causing people to to turn against one another, how they're continuing to foment racism.

00:10:25.240 I believe that we are way past the time, way past the time where we can blame race for anything.

00:10:36.780 And yet that is the chief weapon.

00:10:39.800 That is the tool that the left uses.

00:10:44.840 We're going to get into.

00:10:48.180 How the media has responded to this.

00:10:51.620 If you paid attention to my earlier stories, you know where I'm coming from.

00:10:57.700 I say that this is a complete breakdown of the family.

00:11:01.600 It is not just the black community.

00:11:06.160 Do you remember Cameron Casey?

00:11:09.340 He's from the park, the one of the Parkland survivors.

00:11:11.940 And you had Senator Marco Rubio go down and to meet with the survivors.

00:11:18.440 Remember that town hall meeting?

00:11:20.460 Do you remember the disrespect that those kids showed a sitting senator of the United States of America?

00:11:32.200 Disrespect.

00:11:33.720 I absolutely, you know, shut off everything he was saying afterwards.

00:11:37.200 I couldn't hear it because of the lack of respect.

00:11:41.440 Meanwhile, you've got Nick Sandman.

00:11:44.620 Remember him from one of the coveted Catholic kids that were in Washington, D.C.

00:11:48.160 And he was approached by a Native American.

00:11:54.200 And yes, and yes.

00:11:55.520 Remember how the media treated that story, treated that young man.

00:12:01.760 I'm telling you, we've got things to talk about.

00:12:05.940 James T. Harris sitting in for Glenn Beck.

00:12:09.720 This is the Glenn Beck program.

00:12:11.940 This is the best of the Glenn Beck program.

00:12:32.140 Hi, it's Glenn.

00:12:33.340 If you're a subscriber to the podcast, can you do us a favor and rate us on iTunes?

00:12:37.880 If you're not a subscriber, become one today and listen on your own time.

00:12:41.940 You can subscribe on iTunes.

00:12:43.560 Thanks.

00:12:44.360 If you are a fan of impeachment, if you are a fan of the of the drama of the of the show, you are having the time of your life.

00:12:54.440 I mean, when is the last time we were able to really enjoy a good impeachment?

00:12:59.320 We got to go all the way back to Bill Clinton.

00:13:02.140 And that was fun.

00:13:03.620 I mean, that was salacious.

00:13:05.680 Right.

00:13:05.880 I was a high school teacher during that period of time and a miracle happened.

00:13:10.200 They may be the current events to teacher right in the middle of the Clinton Lewinsky scandal.

00:13:16.900 Oh, yes.

00:13:17.860 I have my students read the star report for extra credit.

00:13:20.820 Yeah. 0.79

00:13:21.160 Then I got called down to the principal's office because the star report really is soft porn. 0.64

00:13:24.840 I'm serious. 0.70

00:13:25.360 The things that Bill Clinton did in the Oval Office is terrible.

00:13:31.160 But, you know, it was just it was just relations between consenting adults.

00:13:37.220 That's what we were told.

00:13:38.300 And that was the impact on the kids.

00:13:39.980 You know, it depends on what the meaning of is is that became very popular.

00:13:44.760 And also that oral relations really isn't relations.

00:13:48.880 Thank you, Bill Clinton.

00:13:53.860 You know, when I was first married, my wife was on the left.

00:13:57.640 She's a she was a she's liberal.

00:13:59.380 She's liberal.

00:14:00.060 But she's so beautiful that I kind of overlooked that.

00:14:03.980 People credit me for flipping her.

00:14:05.700 I didn't flip her.

00:14:06.800 It was the impeachment hearings that flipped her.

00:14:09.720 Yes.

00:14:09.980 But our number one son, you know, he was old enough to pay attention and ask questions.

00:14:14.560 And he was he kept asking, mommy, did the president do something wrong?

00:14:18.660 Is he in trouble?

00:14:19.620 And mom wouldn't answer the question. 0.96

00:14:21.240 So I would.

00:14:22.080 Yes, son, he's in trouble.

00:14:24.200 Well, well, why is he lying?

00:14:26.100 Well, son, you see what he did was that my wife was like, no, stop, stop talking.

00:14:32.660 And I there was one incident.

00:14:34.600 And I remember my wife diving across the living room to turn off the TV so my son would not have to hear about all that Lewinsky stuff.

00:14:44.680 And I said, look at you trying to protect yourself from trying to protect your son.

00:14:52.560 From the man you voted for.

00:14:55.300 Twice.

00:14:58.580 My son said, when I grow up, I don't want to be the president because the president's always lying and getting in trouble.

00:15:04.600 That's what flipped my wife. 1.00

00:15:06.640 That's what flipped her.

00:15:09.020 That's what moved her from being on the left side of the aisle over into the promised land.

00:15:15.800 And you know what?

00:15:17.380 The same thing is happening right now with this impeachment hearing.

00:15:20.320 You have many Democrats who are watching these these Democrat representatives.

00:15:26.020 They're watching their behavior.

00:15:27.420 We're seeing that the left never has accepted President President Trump's 2016 election win.

00:15:34.600 They have been in resistant mode from the very beginning before he was even sworn in.

00:15:42.580 We've had marches.

00:15:44.760 We've had just the left, the Hollywood left lose their mind.

00:15:50.240 Robert De Niro, they're losing their mind.

00:15:52.580 Then we had the fake Mueller investigation.

00:16:01.380 We had the he's colluding with the Russians. 0.85

00:16:05.480 And they dug deep.

00:16:07.020 And the deeper they dug, more of the deep state was exposed.

00:16:12.060 More of the fact that we had operatives.

00:16:14.560 Ladies and gentlemen, we had elected officials.

00:16:18.600 We had our police force.

00:16:21.240 We had the FBI.

00:16:22.980 We had the intelligence community trying to conduct a coup.

00:16:30.060 That's crazy.

00:16:33.460 That's banana republic stuff.

00:16:35.840 It's happening right here.

00:16:37.060 We actually are watching men in uniform lying, testifying on lies about a president of the United States trying to overturn him because they don't like him.

00:16:53.440 He's not part of the club.

00:16:55.120 I had an opportunity to read the plot against the president by Lee Smith.

00:17:01.420 It is an excellent book.

00:17:04.020 And the fact that I read that book before these impeachment hearings started, I'm sitting there able to connect the dots.

00:17:11.260 I could read the stitches on the fastball.

00:17:13.800 Then I sat down and I watched the Democrats' Hydra.

00:17:20.140 Yeah.

00:17:20.840 The Glenn Beck piece.

00:17:22.040 That's right.

00:17:22.860 Sat down and watched it.

00:17:24.160 A little over an hour.

00:17:25.600 And I wanted to say, come on.

00:17:26.980 Come on, Glenn Beck.

00:17:28.160 Come on, man.

00:17:29.540 That's conspiracy.

00:17:31.160 See, I used to have a conspiracy theory button right in the studio.

00:17:35.960 And whenever people would call in and talk about deep state, I hit that button.

00:17:38.940 It's conspiracy.

00:17:40.960 You can't do that anymore.

00:17:41.960 And you especially can't do that with Glenn Beck because he has all of the I's dotted and the T's crossed.

00:17:49.800 And he has documentation of the Yang Gang.

00:17:52.900 You can't deny it.

00:17:54.440 But then you're overwhelmed.

00:17:56.840 You're overwhelmed by how deep the rabbit hole goes and how far back.

00:18:05.640 The Democrats' Hydra is going to blow your mind.

00:18:08.400 But you need to watch it.

00:18:09.600 You also need to to read the plot against the president by Lee Smith.

00:18:14.320 When you do and you look at these impeachment hearings, you see what's going on.

00:18:19.540 Now, have you noticed that since the showboat shift hearings, you got to be careful when you say that showboat shift, you know, the the shift hearings.

00:18:31.760 He's full of.

00:18:33.800 Shift.

00:18:34.480 So you got to be careful with that.

00:18:35.700 Have you noticed that there has been some movement?

00:18:40.420 Those rumbling sounds you hear are the independence feet moving to the conservative side of the aisle.

00:18:47.820 Well, check it out.

00:18:49.920 Poll after poll and and a few largely unnoticed interviews are evidence that the country in general has tired of the impeachment issue.

00:19:00.540 The people want some action on things that matter in their lives.

00:19:05.120 And it's obvious that Nancy Pelosi is not willing to do that. 0.97

00:19:12.220 Shift had his shot and he came up short.

00:19:15.780 If you notice, the mainstream media has pretty much avoided the topic now.

00:19:21.940 Instead, they and they're doing polls and they turned their attention to the upcoming inspector general's report.

00:19:28.280 Remember that?

00:19:29.820 We're not really talking about impeachment right now.

00:19:31.840 Have you noticed that?

00:19:34.100 Oh, oh, and Trump supporters.

00:19:35.820 We've been psychoanalyzed by amateurs, pundits and a sprinkling of experts and we are being called cultists.

00:19:45.480 We have been accused of having the mindset of ISIS members.

00:19:50.220 So we can we can shift shift to the side.

00:19:54.540 We've got the holiday weekend news cycle to fill.

00:20:01.080 Now we've got to get ready for the next big event on the calendar.

00:20:04.200 And what is that?

00:20:05.120 That's impeachment 2.0.

00:20:07.460 No, you thought you thought I was going to say that it was the USMCA getting passed by. 0.98

00:20:13.500 Silly. 0.90

00:20:13.900 You thought that we were going to talk about, you know, dealing with prescription drug prices. 0.98

00:20:20.660 You thought that we were going to have an actual budget instead of a continuing resolution.

00:20:26.020 Immigration reform.

00:20:27.520 No, no, no.

00:20:28.480 Health care reform.

00:20:30.400 No, no, no.

00:20:31.000 Is there any legislation coming out of the House?

00:20:36.400 The answer is no.

00:20:39.240 The House instead is focused on unseating a duly elected president who continues to gain even greater favor with the voters in this country.

00:20:52.500 It's amazing the amount of pressure that this president has been under, and he still is working on behalf of the American people.

00:21:02.040 He still is getting things done.

00:21:07.620 Not Congress.

00:21:10.020 Next week, they plan on resuming their march toward impeachment.

00:21:14.580 But, ladies and gentlemen, this time is different.

00:21:17.120 We got Nattler.

00:21:17.980 We got the penguin.

00:21:18.740 He's on stage.

00:21:19.640 He's on deck.

00:21:20.740 And according to news reports, he's invited the president and the president's attorneys to attend this.

00:21:27.100 Oh, oh, that's wonderful.

00:21:29.420 And the letter inviting the president, you know, it's been made public.

00:21:32.920 It's transparency.

00:21:36.280 They want you to believe that this time.

00:21:38.720 Unlike the Schiff affair.

00:21:41.260 The president's been given a fair shot at addressing the issue.

00:21:45.620 But, my friends, nothing could be further from the truth.

00:21:54.680 And the devil is in the details.

00:22:00.840 This is all amazing.

00:22:03.360 And I'm going to give you the skinny, skinny, skinny coming up next. 1.00

00:22:07.420 James T. Harris, sitting in for Glenn Beck.

00:22:11.960 This is the Glenn Beck Program.

00:22:14.500 James T. Harris, sitting in for Glenn Beck.

00:22:38.560 This is the Glenn Beck Program.

00:22:40.140 And I am just having a fantastic time here.

00:22:42.840 First time sitting in on a nationally syndicated talk show.

00:22:46.580 Having a great time.

00:22:47.760 But I had a call.

00:22:48.580 I had a call.

00:22:49.500 My first call took me to the woodshed.

00:22:52.740 You know, I feel like the bell saved me there.

00:22:55.560 It's like Rocky and Apollo Creed.

00:22:57.520 I was the Rocky one.

00:22:59.120 I just happened to get up before he did.

00:23:01.520 Because the bell knocked him out.

00:23:04.240 He was saying, I got it all wrong.

00:23:05.960 He was saying, you know, he'd been waiting for hours.

00:23:08.620 Everything I said was wrong.

00:23:10.740 Well, here's the deal.

00:23:12.380 Yeah, yeah.

00:23:13.240 Congress did get a lot of things passed.

00:23:15.220 But I guess I should have said they didn't get the president's agenda passed.

00:23:19.780 McConnell did not vow to impeach President Obama just to make life difficult for him.

00:23:24.840 And why shouldn't he?

00:23:26.180 That's the way politics works.

00:23:27.360 You allow Obama his term and try to defeat him the next time around.

00:23:32.220 The Republicans didn't go for impeachment even when Obama went over their heads with executive orders.

00:23:39.120 They just didn't.

00:23:41.140 Obama pretended Congress didn't exist.

00:23:44.580 And Congress didn't object because it was Obama, the first black president.

00:23:50.280 Who's going to?

00:23:51.540 Do you remember that whole thing?

00:23:52.920 Do you remember?

00:23:54.100 Remember, people were afraid to disagree with President Obama because they didn't want to be called racist.

00:24:03.960 And, of course, you know that the media was absolutely 100 sold out for Obama, even though he was spying on them.

00:24:13.560 And most of the bills passed by the House are junk legislation.

00:24:19.900 Let's just be real.

00:24:21.220 Open borders.

00:24:22.900 Climate.

00:24:23.320 I know David in Florida.

00:24:24.740 We wanted a back and forth.

00:24:26.220 But we can do that on Twitter.

00:24:28.760 You can you can follow me on Twitter at James T.

00:24:30.780 Harris, or we could do that on Facebook.

00:24:32.940 You can follow me there at James T.

00:24:35.120 Harris Media.

00:24:38.300 Let's talk about college students.

00:24:39.820 You know what?

00:24:40.460 Let's not.

00:24:41.880 I was a high school teacher for 10 years.

00:24:43.780 And I was openly conservative, although I did not try to indoctrinate my children.

00:24:50.380 My my my partner, who's also a history teacher, was a lefty.

00:24:55.380 I would even say she was she's communist.

00:24:58.200 And we balanced each other beautifully.

00:25:00.240 She had a mock legislation. 0.68

00:25:01.900 This is in Brown, Deer, Wisconsin, circa the 1990s.

00:25:06.560 And that thing was so real.

00:25:08.060 I was a Republican coach.

00:25:09.120 She was the Democrat coach.

00:25:10.520 That was so real that we had Congressman Barrett.

00:25:13.980 He's now the mayor of Milwaukee at the time.

00:25:15.520 Read that thing into the congressional record.

00:25:17.440 It was outstanding.

00:25:19.720 And my students all the time, especially my more liberal students.

00:25:24.980 They were getting angry with the social issues of the day.

00:25:28.420 This is before global warming, even though global warming was around.

00:25:32.620 This is before socialism was really hip.

00:25:35.060 But they were kind of like wanting to redistribute wealth.

00:25:39.120 They said that, you know what?

00:25:40.600 People should give up more of their money in order to in order to have poor people get off the streets. 1.00

00:25:46.200 Some of my students even empathize with the poor.

00:25:48.700 And they went and lived with them in the middle of the inner city on sewer grates and stuff like that.

00:25:53.460 In wintertime, they came back and shared their experiences.

00:25:56.540 I said that was crazy.

00:25:59.040 You know, I understand you walk in another man's shoes, but, you know, it's crazy.

00:26:03.580 They kept pushing this.

00:26:04.680 They kept pushing this.

00:26:05.400 I said, I'll tell you what.

00:26:06.460 I'll tell you what.

00:26:08.520 We're going to introduce.

00:26:10.220 I'm going to introduce to you a great tax because there are a lot of people in this class who are suffering.

00:26:15.780 They're poor in grades.

00:26:17.820 You got some kids that are flunky.

00:26:19.300 You got some kids that are, you know, D minuses.

00:26:21.240 Some kids try to put the head down on the desk. 0.94

00:26:22.860 I was famous for hitting them in the head with tennis balls.

00:26:24.880 If they went to sleep in my classroom, I'd be arrested for that today.

00:26:28.000 But I said, if you are a student and I'm going to take your A and I'm going to knock it down to a B and I'm going to give that to somebody who's getting the F.

00:26:37.160 So now they're getting a D.

00:26:38.000 If you are a B student, I'm going to knock it down to a C.

00:26:41.420 I'm going to give it to a D student and then they're going to end up getting a C.

00:26:44.500 And I did it for real.

00:26:45.980 I did that.

00:26:47.220 I did that.

00:26:48.020 It lasted for two days.

00:26:52.740 It one day longer out of my pride because I got called down to the principal's office.

00:26:56.560 Parents were livid.

00:26:57.760 Parents were livid.

00:26:59.160 Students were, girls were crying.

00:27:00.860 But I work hard.

00:27:02.380 Why does he get my grade?

00:27:04.140 And I work so hard.

00:27:05.040 I'm like, hey, it's great tax.

00:27:06.460 He's poor.

00:27:07.880 Look at him.

00:27:08.980 He's sleeping.

00:27:09.640 He's drooling.

00:27:10.660 You need to share your grade with him.

00:27:13.080 To lift all the boats in the class.

00:27:17.780 Oh, that got rejected quick.

00:27:20.140 I haven't been in the classroom in over 20 years and I still hear from former students about the grade tax.

00:27:28.260 We tie it in.

00:27:32.300 Thanksgiving.

00:27:34.420 Thanksgiving.

00:27:36.320 We have moved so far down the road.

00:27:39.640 Thanksgiving.

00:27:40.040 You know, Christmas.

00:27:41.280 Remember when we used to say where put the Christ back into Christmas.

00:27:45.280 It's about Jesus.

00:27:47.340 It's about the birth of the baby Jesus.

00:27:50.640 Not the grown man Jesus. 0.64

00:27:52.420 The baby Jesus.

00:27:54.780 Now it's about Santa Claus.

00:27:56.980 As a matter of fact, we don't even Thanksgiving right after Halloween.

00:28:00.420 They start putting out the Christmas stuff, but not about the baby Jesus.

00:28:03.260 It's about the Santa Claus because they want you to buy gifts.

00:28:08.020 We skip over.

00:28:09.400 I think, arguably, one of the most important, most significant holidays in our history.

00:28:18.480 Thanksgiving.

00:28:20.260 We don't teach what it's about anymore.

00:28:22.980 As a matter of fact, the College Fix, which is a fantastic outlet.

00:28:28.380 They, uh, they, they went and they asked students on campus what they thought about Thanksgiving.

00:28:36.120 And I want, I want you, I want you to brace yourself if you haven't heard this because it is absolutely, it's absolutely crazy.

00:28:42.300 So you think Christmas and Easter are worse than Thanksgiving?

00:28:46.120 Yeah, well, I think that, like, Thanksgiving has been misconstrued a lot.

00:28:50.560 Misconstrued?

00:28:51.060 Especially in textbooks.

00:28:52.400 And it's kind of just based off of the genocide of indigenous people.

00:28:55.800 Um, and I don't really think that we actually give thanks on Thanksgiving.

00:28:59.980 We just eat a bunch of food and it's just a bunch of capitalists.

00:29:01.960 We're here today at Macalester College, a small Christian private school in Minnesota, asking students if it's okay to celebrate Thanksgiving.

00:29:11.180 Oh, leaning towards no.

00:29:13.060 I feel like with, you know, the historical context and, you know, kind of the really awful oppression of, you know, indigenous people, like, the holiday is really, like, praised by, I think, people more on, like, the conservative side of things to, like, uphold that sort of tradition. 0.99

00:29:31.100 Oh, so much there.

00:29:35.000 The indigenous people.

00:29:36.840 Yeah, it's only celebrated by people on the conservative side of the aisle.

00:29:40.680 Now, actually, you know what?

00:29:42.640 This young man may be on to something because the conservatives, more so than the liberals, know their history.

00:29:51.400 They know the history of Thanksgiving.

00:29:55.380 But if you thought that Thanksgiving was not under attack, I am telling you right here and right now, we got a generation of kids that want to get rid of the holiday.

00:30:10.680 The original, like, the celebrating a feast really isn't because of the notions of what the actual holiday was.

00:30:25.140 Well, I mean, the entire thing is sort of based off of indigenous peoples and the murder of indigenous peoples in history. 0.98

00:30:33.100 The murder?

00:30:34.060 Not really, but what do Americans do except for celebrate unethical holidays?

00:30:38.500 What other holidays are unethical?

00:30:40.920 Columbus Day.

00:30:42.580 I mean, Christmas break, it should be labeled as, like, winter break in general, but most schools are celebrating as Christmas break.

00:30:50.320 Sure.

00:30:50.880 Do you celebrate these holidays?

00:30:53.060 More or less. 1.00

00:30:55.080 Hypocrite! 1.00

00:30:56.600 Yeah. 1.00

00:30:57.620 And moral holiday?

00:30:58.360 I guess if Santa Claus was part of the alphabet people, if you were an LGBTQ or something like that, it would be okay. 0.99

00:31:05.720 Then it would be, you know, right.

00:31:08.340 But no, these students, they're serious.

00:31:10.340 The assault on Thanksgiving holiday is only a part of the wider war on traditional American values.

00:31:17.920 You can hear it in these students' voice.

00:31:22.280 Is it okay to celebrate Thanksgiving?

00:31:25.360 Um, no.

00:31:27.880 No.

00:31:28.720 Yeah, it's probably not as bad as Christmas or Easter, but, like, I don't know.

00:31:33.820 So you think Christmas and Easter are worse than Thanksgiving?

00:31:36.400 Yeah, definitely.

00:31:37.320 I don't celebrate Christmas and Easter.

00:31:39.860 Sure. 0.97

00:31:40.280 That sucks. 0.98

00:31:41.500 I'm pretty anti-religious, so I think that they're just like... 1.00

00:31:45.400 Why are you at a religious school, then?

00:31:47.180 There's a church right over there.

00:31:48.380 It's true.

00:31:48.820 Good question.

00:31:49.100 It's true.

00:31:49.660 It's a good point.

00:31:50.780 Is it okay to celebrate Thanksgiving?

00:31:52.500 Oh, my God.

00:31:53.580 Um, that's a good question.

00:31:55.680 Lord, help us, Jesus.

00:31:56.820 I think it's okay as long as your values are in the right place.

00:31:59.620 So the history of the holiday is obviously not the best, and it's very violent and oppressive.

00:32:05.580 But if you are celebrating, like, the value of gratefulness and friendship and love and family, then I think that's a different story.

00:32:14.980 I tell you what, this is bad.

00:32:20.040 This is bad, and we can point to one place.

00:32:23.920 Well, actually, two.

00:32:24.780 I'll take it back to the parents, and I'll also take it back to our education institutions that teach kids this stuff.

00:32:32.760 But, you know, Thanksgiving is the perfect holiday to talk about the founding of this country and to talk about the miracle of free enterprise, and we will do that.

00:32:49.120 This is James T. Harris on Black Friday, the day after Thanksgiving, sitting in for Glenn Beck.

00:32:54.360 This is the Glenn Beck Program.

00:32:56.400 Hey, it's Glenn, and I want to tell you about something that you should either end your day with or start your morning with, and that is the news and why it matters.

00:33:10.440 If you like this show, you're going to love the news and why it matters.
