00:03:27.820 president notoriously labeling the implementation of his tariffs as Liberation Day, while others

00:03:33.860 called his reciprocal moves a huge mistake.

00:03:36.420 Many have argued that Trump did not actually implement reciprocal tariffs at all, though.

00:03:41.680 Look no further than on X, where even though even through his platform's owner, Elon Musk,

00:03:48.120 is one of Trump's top advisers.

00:03:49.940 White House post about the tariffs was slapped with community notes label that said the numbers

00:03:54.640 from the administration were not based on actual foreign tariffs at all, blah, blah,

00:03:58.820 So the story goes on to say, so what is he doing?

00:04:01.460 And I would like to, you know, they interviewed an expert that is with the president, Stephen

00:04:10.140 Moran, big time economic advisor.

00:04:13.700 He's worked at the Treasury Department and one of the top advisors now for the president.

00:04:18.740 And he talks about a couple of things.

00:04:22.880 He talks about the Mar-a-Lago Accord, which is speculation.

00:04:32.960 But there's also something that Stephen wrote about, and I'll talk about it here in a second,

00:04:36.940 that seems to be laying out the same course that the president may be on.

00:04:42.120 So let me explain this to you, because what they're claiming is that the president may

00:04:49.700 be tweaking the value of the U.S. dollar to help America out.

00:04:55.100 And let me go over this, because there's some serious risks attached to this one.

00:05:00.260 So imagine the U.S. dollar as the coolest toy on the playground, and everybody wants to

00:05:05.740 play with it because it's the best.

00:05:07.760 Nobody thought we could have a better toy than this one.

00:05:10.120 That toy is called the world's reserve currency, meaning that countries use it as gold.

00:05:18.120 It is their savings account, and they use it for trading, for savings, for buying stuff globally.

00:05:25.820 Now, the Mar-a-Lago Accord, which the blaze says might be a Trump administration plan,

00:05:32.820 wants to make that toy a little less shiny on purpose by devaluing the dollar,

00:05:38.000 basically making it worth less compared to other countries' money, in particular, the Chinese won.

00:05:48.480 Well, imagine you have a lemonade stand, and our lemonade is really pricey because it's traded in dollars,

00:05:57.520 and you've got to use dollars, and, you know, dollars are just really expensive.

00:06:01.040 Our lemonade now is much more expensive, but across the street, China is selling theirs way cheaper.

00:06:08.820 So everybody is buying their stuff from China.

00:06:12.080 Well, if we would devalue our dollar, our lemonade would get cheaper, and more people would buy from us than from China.

00:06:19.560 That's a very dangerous game we play.

00:06:24.400 The idea is to make American goods, like cars, steel, cheaper to sell overseas,

00:06:31.360 which would boost our industries and create jobs over here. 0.95

00:06:43.240 helping our massive national debt, which is now $33, $34 trillion.

00:06:47.260 If the dollar is worth less, then the debt is easier to pay off.

00:06:58.740 so it's less of a burden to repay.

00:07:01.360 But here's the catch, and it's a big one.
