00:00:04.920 On Demand.
00:00:05.940 Hey, it's Stu. Welcome to the podcast.
00:00:07.680 Glenn Beck also joining me here.
00:00:09.900 Can we get a President Spartacus?
00:00:11.760 Is where we start the show today.
00:00:13.140 I hope we can.
00:00:13.640 I need one. I need a President Spartacus.
00:00:16.680 It's very, very important.
00:00:18.580 We go through
00:00:19.520 Cory Booker's potential run for president.
00:00:23.200 He's going to Iowa.
00:00:24.120 No way. He's just going to hell.
00:00:27.060 I'd say he has no chance, but I've learned not to say that.
00:00:30.440 That's something.
00:00:31.840 Over a million ordered to evacuate
00:00:34.060 as North Carolina looks like it's getting really hard.
00:00:38.020 The models have worsened significantly
00:00:40.120 in the last 24 hours.
00:00:41.900 We'll see how that goes.
00:00:43.760 Also, this is September 12th.
00:00:45.600 This is the day we all came together.
00:00:47.380 And I ask you to come together and help us.
00:00:49.940 We already have over 200 semi-trucks
00:00:52.160 on the road headed towards the Carolinas
00:00:54.140 loaded with food and water
00:00:56.000 and supplies, shovels 0.61
00:00:58.120 and chainsaws.
00:01:00.000 We have
00:01:00.820 Operation Barbecue there.
00:01:03.740 We can feed 30,000 people
00:01:05.520 a day.
00:01:07.420 We have a team from
00:01:09.840 Rubicon
00:01:10.680 that is already on the ground.
00:01:12.840 Those guys are amazing
00:01:13.760 at helping people in bad situations.
00:01:15.380 But we need your help
00:01:16.060 at mercuryone.org.
00:01:17.560 We talked to Brad Meltzer today
00:01:18.740 about his new book
00:01:19.840 and also his experience
00:01:21.000 with his son's homework,
00:01:23.180 which is incredible.
00:01:24.440 Really great.
00:01:24.980 And also a professor
00:01:27.140 who is a conservative,
00:01:29.880 as he says it,
00:01:30.780 the only conservative professor
00:01:32.060 he's ever known himself.
00:01:33.840 English.
00:01:34.340 English lit professor.
00:01:36.000 Yep.
00:01:36.300 Talks about how his students
00:01:38.400 can get offended by words
00:01:40.600 and what he's done
00:01:41.340 to try to solve that
00:01:42.400 at the beginning.
00:01:43.360 A preemptive blast
00:01:45.200 against political correctness.
00:01:46.380 It's actually a very sad
00:01:47.680 but compelling story
00:01:49.780 at the same time.
00:01:50.700 Yeah.
00:01:50.980 And I felt positive afterwards.
00:01:54.320 Yeah.
00:01:54.540 I felt good.
00:01:54.940 Yeah.
00:01:55.160 And you'll hear it
00:01:55.780 from a guy who's inside
00:01:56.800 and who's dealing
00:01:57.940 with this every day.
00:01:58.540 on today's podcast.
00:02:05.920 You're listening to
00:02:07.060 The Best of the Glenn Beck Program.
00:02:12.160 It's Wednesday, September 12th.
00:02:14.640 Glenn Beck.
00:02:16.040 Well, guess who's coming to Iowa?
00:02:19.220 Everybody's favorite Spartacus,
00:02:21.740 Senator Cory Booker.
00:02:23.660 That's right.
00:02:24.740 He's coming to Iowa.
00:02:26.740 The senator from New Jersey,
00:02:28.540 is moving on
00:02:30.020 from his
00:02:30.500 I am Spartacus moment
00:02:32.460 during the Kavanaugh hearing
00:02:34.100 just last week.
00:02:35.460 A moment, by the way,
00:02:36.860 that was more heroic
00:02:38.140 than anything I think
00:02:40.420 most Americans have ever seen.
00:02:43.480 According to Cory Booker.
00:02:45.460 Now he's preparing
00:02:46.740 to dazzle Iowa Democrats
00:02:48.660 as the featured speaker
00:02:50.280 at their fall gala
00:02:51.560 in October.
00:02:54.140 Is it too early for me
00:02:55.820 to start printing Spartacus
00:02:57.880 for President Bumper stickers?
00:02:59.440 I don't think so.
00:03:01.360 It's never too early
00:03:02.520 because potential Democratic candidates
00:03:05.100 are already jockeying for position.
00:03:08.060 Seven other Democrats,
00:03:09.560 plus Bernie Sanders,
00:03:10.940 have made appearances in Iowa
00:03:13.160 just recently,
00:03:15.040 each one nurturing
00:03:16.440 their own Oval Office dream.
00:03:19.620 Iowa Democratic Party Chairman
00:03:21.000 Troy Price says,
00:03:22.080 we welcome anybody
00:03:22.860 who wants to help us
00:03:23.700 get Democrats elected in 2018
00:03:25.400 and we're sure happy
00:03:27.160 to have Senator Cory Booker's help.
00:03:30.260 This dinner is only about
00:03:32.200 the great opportunities ahead of us
00:03:33.880 in this election this fall.
00:03:35.900 I'm sure it is.
00:03:38.360 Now there's two schools of thought here
00:03:40.460 when you show up in Iowa.
00:03:42.660 You know, it's kind of like,
00:03:44.020 you know,
00:03:44.400 asking the most popular girl
00:03:45.700 in school to the prom.
00:03:46.880 You can either come out,
00:03:48.400 right out and ask her
00:03:49.280 early and often,
00:03:51.200 hey,
00:03:51.840 whoa,
00:03:52.160 what do you think about
00:03:53.320 me and me going to the prom?
00:03:56.440 You know,
00:03:57.260 that's what,
00:03:58.020 you know,
00:03:59.840 Bernie Sanders did.
00:04:01.320 And the other one is to go,
00:04:03.700 so,
00:04:04.680 how you doing?
00:04:07.300 Fine.
00:04:08.360 Yeah.
00:04:09.920 Just wanted to say hi.
00:04:12.660 Hey,
00:04:13.520 I know we just saw each other yesterday,
00:04:15.680 but I'm back.
00:04:16.520 Could I carry your books
00:04:19.060 or something like that
00:04:20.800 that would maybe make you notice me?
00:04:23.580 Because then I will ask around,
00:04:25.680 my friends will ask around
00:04:27.060 to see if you like me
00:04:28.200 after you notice me.
00:04:29.240 That is what Cory Booker
00:04:31.520 and so many people do in Iowa.
00:04:33.480 They're just hanging out,
00:04:34.880 trying to see.
00:04:36.380 They don't want to ask.
00:04:37.860 No, no, no.
00:04:38.580 I don't want to be president.
00:04:39.960 I just,
00:04:40.520 hey,
00:04:40.980 Iowa,
00:04:41.500 I'm just here.
00:04:42.500 Could I carry your books
00:04:43.680 home from school?
00:04:45.740 Uh-huh.
00:04:47.920 Booker has placed
00:04:48.660 four staffers in Iowa
00:04:50.180 to work on the campaigns
00:04:51.740 of state Democratic candidates.
00:04:53.680 That's usually an indicator
00:04:55.780 that you want to do something
00:04:57.380 with the White House.
00:05:00.040 But we're talking Spartacus.
00:05:03.380 Over the next couple of weeks,
00:05:05.840 if Booker is photographed
00:05:08.020 wearing a hard hat,
00:05:09.420 kissing a baby,
00:05:10.300 eating pancakes
00:05:11.200 in a small town diner,
00:05:12.740 or doing all three
00:05:14.480 of those things at once,
00:05:16.680 well,
00:05:17.480 you'll know Spartacus
00:05:19.440 2020 is a done deal.
00:05:21.860 But why spend time
00:05:24.580 talking about that
00:05:26.140 when there's something
00:05:28.420 more important
00:05:29.340 that actually matters?
00:05:32.640 And even Spartacus
00:05:35.260 cannot help us.
00:05:37.380 I want to begin the show
00:05:41.100 there.
00:05:42.840 Let me take a quick
00:05:43.980 just 20 seconds
00:05:45.320 break,
00:05:46.220 and then I want to
00:05:47.160 come back with
00:05:48.020 some audio
00:05:49.300 and another piece
00:05:51.720 of a story
00:05:52.260 that you have not
00:05:53.500 heard.
00:05:54.060 So we got Spartacus,
00:05:56.200 and that's the news
00:05:57.020 that everybody wants
00:05:57.820 to know, right?
00:05:58.580 Who's running
00:05:59.320 for president
00:06:00.460 in 2020?
00:06:02.320 Does that really
00:06:03.160 affect you
00:06:03.720 at all?
00:06:04.920 Is that
00:06:05.160 is that
00:06:06.040 as important
00:06:06.920 to you
00:06:07.600 now
00:06:08.200 to strategize
00:06:09.300 2020?
00:06:10.600 Or is it
00:06:11.600 better to look
00:06:12.700 at
00:06:13.060 what the hell
00:06:14.860 is happening
00:06:15.400 to us right now?
00:06:17.360 Because you can
00:06:18.080 have all the
00:06:18.540 slick ad campaigns
00:06:19.600 you want,
00:06:21.640 but
00:06:21.800 who are
00:06:23.600 the Democrats
00:06:24.560 really appealing
00:06:26.240 to?
00:06:28.220 Let me
00:06:28.860 play something
00:06:29.720 that came out
00:06:30.160 yesterday.
00:06:30.820 Carol Cook,
00:06:31.960 she's a
00:06:32.540 she's an old 0.98
00:06:33.660 Jamie,
00:06:34.460 Broadway,
00:06:35.160 actress.
00:06:36.020 I remember
00:06:36.900 her in 1956
00:06:38.500 when she was
00:06:39.840 Hello Dolly.
00:06:42.100 And
00:06:42.700 she was
00:06:44.300 she was coming
00:06:44.960 out of
00:06:45.360 some restaurant
00:06:46.800 or a show
00:06:47.340 or something
00:06:47.860 with her husband
00:06:49.320 who was a
00:06:50.280 spry 90
00:06:51.340 himself.
00:06:52.740 And
00:06:53.120 she was asked,
00:06:55.620 hey,
00:06:55.740 what do you think
00:06:56.420 about those people
00:06:57.060 that brought the
00:06:57.580 Trump 2020
00:06:58.840 banner
00:06:59.520 to the
00:07:01.260 Frozen
00:07:01.740 show?
00:07:03.800 Now,
00:07:04.000 why would you
00:07:04.420 do that?
00:07:05.160 Why would you
00:07:06.500 do that?
00:07:07.200 What is the
00:07:07.940 point?
00:07:09.340 So,
00:07:09.860 they brought
00:07:10.360 this big
00:07:10.740 banner,
00:07:11.520 they unfurled
00:07:12.720 it right in
00:07:13.640 the front row,
00:07:14.780 one of the
00:07:15.320 actors broke
00:07:16.240 character and
00:07:17.220 took the
00:07:17.820 thing away
00:07:18.660 and put it
00:07:20.080 backstage.
00:07:21.520 Appropriate.
00:07:23.520 Well,
00:07:24.740 they had to
00:07:25.420 ask,
00:07:25.680 TMZ had to
00:07:26.520 ask,
00:07:27.340 legend,
00:07:31.300 Carol Cook,
00:07:32.380 talk about
00:07:32.800 what she
00:07:33.220 thought.
00:07:33.760 And here's
00:07:34.320 what she
00:07:34.560 said.
00:07:35.140 Is that
00:07:35.540 a proper
00:07:35.940 venue for,
00:07:36.860 you know,
00:07:37.540 a Trumper 0.97
00:07:38.640 to bring
00:07:39.440 a banner
00:07:41.420 to?
00:07:41.820 Well, my answer
00:07:41.980 to that is,
00:07:43.120 oh, this is
00:07:43.740 good.
00:07:44.480 Where was it?
00:07:45.540 Okay, stop.
00:07:46.220 Stop it right
00:07:46.940 there.
00:07:47.220 Stop it right
00:07:47.780 there.
00:07:48.720 Her husband
00:07:49.540 says,
00:07:50.220 oh, this
00:07:51.320 is good.
00:07:52.960 Where would
00:07:53.520 you say it?
00:07:55.920 Her husband,
00:07:56.740 they've already
00:07:57.200 said this
00:07:57.860 multiple times,
00:08:00.620 apparently,
00:08:01.420 because it
00:08:03.020 always gets
00:08:03.600 a big laugh.
00:08:08.280 It gets a
00:08:10.660 huge laugh.
00:08:13.700 So, he
00:08:14.460 interrupts and
00:08:14.960 he's going to
00:08:15.360 say, but no,
00:08:15.820 no, no,
00:08:16.040 no, you
00:08:16.960 say it.
00:08:17.640 Because
00:08:17.860 you're going
00:08:19.440 to be so
00:08:20.180 funny when
00:08:20.800 you say it.
00:08:21.920 Here's what
00:08:22.300 she says.
00:08:23.200 No, you
00:08:23.760 just, no.
00:08:24.740 Where is
00:08:25.480 John Wilkes
00:08:26.360 Booth when
00:08:27.060 you need
00:08:27.500 him?
00:08:29.100 Right?
00:08:30.640 Yes, that's
00:08:31.620 what she
00:08:31.940 said.
00:08:32.220 You're going
00:08:32.760 to ask me
00:08:33.200 who the
00:08:33.540 hell John
00:08:34.120 Wilkes Booth
00:08:34.260 is.
00:08:34.280 No, I
00:08:34.620 know who
00:08:34.960 John Wilkes
00:08:35.380 Booth is.
00:08:35.500 Thank you,
00:08:36.120 darling.
00:08:36.720 He killed
00:08:37.560 President.
00:08:38.420 Where is
00:08:39.000 he when
00:08:39.320 you need
00:08:39.760 him?
00:08:41.280 He has
00:08:42.020 to know.
00:08:43.620 So, we
00:08:43.940 need to
00:08:44.180 kill
00:08:44.380 President
00:08:44.740 now.
00:08:45.580 He
00:08:45.980 did.
00:08:46.400 No.
00:08:47.860 Why not?
00:08:49.000 Okay, stop.
00:08:50.220 Stop for a
00:08:51.020 second.
00:08:52.300 So, she's
00:08:53.340 like,
00:08:53.840 you don't
00:08:55.120 ask me
00:08:55.660 about
00:08:56.060 John Wilkes
00:08:56.980 Booth.
00:08:58.300 I dated
00:08:59.300 him back
00:09:00.700 in the
00:09:01.040 40s,
00:09:01.660 the 1840s.
00:09:04.080 So, she's,
00:09:05.820 she is,
00:09:06.880 the thing
00:09:07.620 that she
00:09:08.540 has said
00:09:09.080 it so
00:09:09.360 many times,
00:09:10.680 apparently
00:09:11.080 somebody said
00:09:11.860 to her,
00:09:12.200 who's John
00:09:12.640 Wilkes
00:09:12.880 Booth?
00:09:13.160 You're
00:09:15.420 not going
00:09:15.680 to ask
00:09:15.980 me?
00:09:16.160 Oh, thank
00:09:16.780 you, darling.
00:09:17.420 I'm so
00:09:17.940 sick of
00:09:18.540 the stupid
00:09:19.100 people who
00:09:20.200 don't remember
00:09:21.280 or don't
00:09:21.800 know their
00:09:22.620 history of
00:09:23.320 John Wilkes
00:09:23.940 Booth.
00:09:25.240 I live on
00:09:26.520 the Upper
00:09:27.060 West Side,
00:09:28.100 and there
00:09:29.260 are so many
00:09:29.860 cretins that
00:09:30.920 just don't
00:09:31.360 know their
00:09:31.780 history.
00:09:32.280 So, she
00:09:35.800 is, she
00:09:37.260 is taking
00:09:37.840 this to,
00:09:39.420 thank you
00:09:40.220 for at
00:09:40.620 least knowing
00:09:41.080 your history,
00:09:42.000 instead of,
00:09:43.520 oh, am I
00:09:44.340 going to be
00:09:44.800 in real
00:09:45.180 trouble?
00:09:45.920 Then the
00:09:46.520 press says,
00:09:47.480 so you
00:09:47.900 think we
00:09:48.300 should kill
00:09:48.860 Donald Trump?
00:09:50.380 And she's,
00:09:51.240 you have to
00:09:51.700 see the
00:09:51.980 video, she
00:09:52.620 stands there
00:09:53.820 slyly.
00:09:56.780 Her
00:09:57.040 husband tries
00:09:57.980 to laugh
00:09:58.620 it off.
00:09:59.320 You know,
00:10:00.100 I didn't,
00:10:00.860 oh, no,
00:10:01.380 this joke
00:10:02.540 means something
00:10:03.380 entirely
00:10:04.020 different.
00:10:05.560 I'm sorry,
00:10:06.400 what were we
00:10:06.840 talking about?
00:10:07.540 We're both
00:10:07.940 senile.
00:10:11.060 She says,
00:10:12.540 yeah, why
00:10:14.360 not?
00:10:15.520 Well, I
00:10:15.920 don't know,
00:10:16.340 other than it
00:10:16.840 being an
00:10:17.220 assassination of
00:10:18.000 a president,
00:10:18.840 you know,
00:10:19.540 it's usually a
00:10:20.520 bad thing,
00:10:21.560 other than,
00:10:22.180 you know,
00:10:22.360 even making
00:10:23.100 that joke
00:10:23.680 is really
00:10:25.220 dangerous.
00:10:26.520 Even though,
00:10:27.840 if I would
00:10:28.560 have said
00:10:28.860 anything like
00:10:29.760 that about
00:10:30.360 President Obama,
00:10:31.380 you would
00:10:32.460 have led
00:10:32.880 a team
00:10:33.480 of senior
00:10:34.060 citizens to
00:10:34.920 try to beat
00:10:35.520 me with
00:10:35.940 their Broadway
00:10:36.520 canes.
00:10:40.760 I don't
00:10:41.380 know,
00:10:41.620 maybe that's
00:10:42.160 why not.
00:10:44.440 So that's
00:10:45.240 the outrage
00:10:45.880 today.
00:10:47.680 But I'm not
00:10:48.500 really outraged
00:10:49.140 by it.
00:10:50.060 Because I
00:10:50.560 know who
00:10:50.800 she is.
00:10:52.900 And she
00:10:53.520 doesn't affect
00:10:54.020 my life
00:10:54.540 at all.
00:10:57.020 None of
00:10:57.320 those Broadway
00:10:57.820 people do.
00:10:59.500 I don't
00:10:59.840 really care.
00:11:01.380 it should
00:11:04.240 concern the
00:11:04.900 Secret Service.
00:11:06.520 Not that
00:11:07.140 she said
00:11:07.760 it.
00:11:07.920 Not like
00:11:08.240 she's going
00:11:09.020 to be
00:11:09.800 John Wilkes
00:11:10.380 but.
00:11:13.460 But that
00:11:14.280 she has
00:11:14.940 said this
00:11:15.560 so much
00:11:16.240 and people
00:11:17.300 have laughed
00:11:18.160 about it
00:11:18.720 so much.
00:11:19.760 I mean,
00:11:20.200 is the
00:11:21.200 press
00:11:21.660 concerned?
00:11:22.520 Because words
00:11:23.300 do have
00:11:23.740 consequences.
00:11:24.720 You never
00:11:25.200 know.
00:11:25.580 Even in a
00:11:26.180 joke,
00:11:26.520 I learned
00:11:27.160 this from
00:11:27.700 them between
00:11:28.420 2008 and
00:11:29.760 2016.
00:11:31.460 They taught
00:11:31.940 me very,
00:11:32.700 very well
00:11:33.280 that words
00:11:34.060 have consequences
00:11:34.900 and even
00:11:35.440 when you're
00:11:35.880 joking,
00:11:36.440 you don't
00:11:37.060 know who
00:11:37.640 might be
00:11:38.200 hearing that
00:11:38.900 and what
00:11:39.540 it might
00:11:39.960 cause them
00:11:40.640 to do.
00:11:41.380 They might
00:11:41.980 think you're
00:11:42.540 serious.
00:11:44.160 Well,
00:11:44.860 yes,
00:11:45.420 they might
00:11:45.820 think you're
00:11:46.180 serious.
00:11:46.620 Of course,
00:11:47.160 when she
00:11:47.680 said it
00:11:48.320 and she
00:11:49.260 said,
00:11:50.040 seriously,
00:11:51.940 well,
00:11:52.380 why not?
00:11:53.840 I kind
00:11:54.540 of took
00:11:54.860 her
00:11:55.000 seriously,
00:11:55.940 you know?
00:11:57.080 I think
00:11:57.880 she meant
00:11:58.380 that.
00:12:02.160 But let's
00:12:02.940 go for
00:12:03.500 today's
00:12:04.700 outrage.
00:12:05.000 That was
00:12:05.280 yesterday's
00:12:05.900 outrage.
00:12:07.060 And if
00:12:07.440 anybody,
00:12:07.900 do we have
00:12:08.160 the jingle?
00:12:08.760 If anybody
00:12:09.240 is addicted
00:12:09.840 to outrage,
00:12:10.820 today's your
00:12:11.320 lucky day.
00:12:12.620 Addicted
00:12:13.060 to outrage.
00:12:15.360 Yes.
00:12:17.160 Here's
00:12:17.640 today's
00:12:18.400 outrage.
00:12:21.960 Um,
00:12:23.180 on
00:12:27.520 Facebook.
00:12:32.560 No,
00:12:33.000 it's got
00:12:33.180 the blue
00:12:33.440 checkmark,
00:12:33.920 so this
00:12:34.200 is Twitter.
00:12:36.360 On
00:12:36.760 Twitter,
00:12:37.800 a woman 0.57
00:12:38.780 just,
00:12:40.560 I don't
00:12:40.780 even want,
00:12:41.120 just give
00:12:41.480 her first
00:12:41.800 name,
00:12:42.020 Cassandra,
00:12:42.860 wrote,
00:12:43.580 who's going
00:12:44.000 to the
00:12:44.420 MAGA
00:12:44.680 meetup
00:12:45.060 tonight?
00:12:46.060 So there's
00:12:46.460 a meetup,
00:12:47.280 you know,
00:12:47.520 where she's
00:12:47.920 at,
00:12:48.120 who's
00:12:48.300 going?
00:12:49.640 Okay.
00:12:51.000 Dream
00:12:51.520 Star
00:12:51.880 Justice.
00:12:54.160 Um,
00:12:55.480 he or
00:12:55.920 she wrote
00:12:56.420 in,
00:12:57.120 I'm coming,
00:12:58.340 but I'm
00:12:58.940 coming with
00:12:59.400 a gun,
00:13:00.140 and I
00:13:00.480 expect to
00:13:01.140 get numerous
00:13:01.940 blood-stained
00:13:02.800 MAGA hats
00:13:03.660 as trophies.
00:13:06.220 Oh.
00:13:08.400 Okay.
00:13:09.840 All right.
00:13:11.520 Okay,
00:13:12.040 well,
00:13:12.200 that's okay.
00:13:13.520 We can say
00:13:14.320 things like
00:13:14.880 that on
00:13:15.420 Twitter.
00:13:15.740 that's okay.
00:13:18.920 We can,
00:13:19.620 we can,
00:13:20.320 we can say
00:13:21.140 that,
00:13:22.140 and the
00:13:22.860 press
00:13:23.260 won't even
00:13:24.200 notice it.
00:13:29.500 Now,
00:13:30.160 here's the
00:13:30.480 thing.
00:13:32.480 Why has,
00:13:35.240 why did,
00:13:36.200 why did
00:13:36.520 this fail
00:13:37.280 in 1968?
00:13:38.880 Why did
00:13:39.580 this fail?
00:13:40.060 For a
00:13:42.520 couple of
00:13:42.820 reasons.
00:13:44.280 The,
00:13:44.800 the
00:13:45.400 communist
00:13:46.880 revolution,
00:13:47.980 and Democrats,
00:13:49.000 if you are
00:13:49.680 not awake
00:13:50.500 yet,
00:13:51.040 to see
00:13:52.660 that you
00:13:53.380 are in
00:13:53.920 bed with
00:13:54.660 people who
00:13:55.440 want to
00:13:56.240 shut down
00:13:57.080 capitalism,
00:13:57.960 they want
00:13:59.740 to destroy
00:14:00.880 the Constitution,
00:14:02.280 all you have
00:14:03.120 to do
00:14:03.600 is listen
00:14:04.940 to them.
00:14:05.760 not all
00:14:07.260 Democrats are
00:14:07.920 saying that,
00:14:08.780 but the
00:14:09.600 social Democrats
00:14:10.420 are,
00:14:11.460 and that's
00:14:12.600 who's running
00:14:13.140 your party
00:14:13.860 right now.
00:14:15.320 You are a,
00:14:17.060 you're a host
00:14:18.240 for a virus
00:14:19.800 that is trying
00:14:20.780 to destroy
00:14:21.480 the Western
00:14:22.300 way of life.
00:14:23.200 Now,
00:14:23.720 you can either
00:14:24.340 start taking
00:14:25.040 medicine,
00:14:25.800 and I'm not
00:14:26.380 suggesting that
00:14:27.000 you,
00:14:27.320 that you take
00:14:27.920 my medicine
00:14:28.460 and you turn
00:14:29.060 into a
00:14:29.580 Republican.
00:14:30.280 I'm not
00:14:30.660 suggesting that.
00:14:31.880 I'm saying
00:14:32.560 you take some
00:14:33.140 medicine and
00:14:33.700 turn into a
00:14:34.600 decent American,
00:14:35.600 you separate
00:14:37.620 yourself from
00:14:39.140 people like
00:14:39.900 this.
00:14:41.280 You separate
00:14:42.440 yourself from
00:14:43.280 people who
00:14:43.760 say, you
00:14:44.160 know what,
00:14:44.660 capitalism
00:14:45.040 doesn't work.
00:14:46.260 If you don't
00:14:47.360 think capitalism
00:14:48.240 works, that's
00:14:49.480 fine.
00:14:50.080 Then state
00:14:50.940 that loudly
00:14:52.020 and clearly.
00:14:53.700 But if you
00:14:54.320 do, you need
00:14:55.820 to state that
00:14:56.960 just as loudly
00:14:58.020 and clearly
00:14:58.680 in your own
00:14:59.780 circles and
00:15:00.720 outside of
00:15:01.620 your own
00:15:02.020 circles.
00:15:03.280 There are
00:15:04.120 people on
00:15:05.020 the far
00:15:05.560 left that
00:15:06.500 are now
00:15:06.960 leaving the
00:15:07.820 far left
00:15:08.700 because they
00:15:09.560 realize how
00:15:10.520 dangerous these
00:15:11.640 people are
00:15:12.120 becoming.
00:15:13.080 Not me
00:15:13.840 saying this,
00:15:14.960 people in
00:15:15.780 the far
00:15:16.320 left.
00:15:17.480 They're
00:15:17.860 saying it.
00:15:20.380 They are
00:15:21.380 separating
00:15:21.920 themselves because
00:15:22.720 they realize
00:15:23.380 these guys
00:15:24.640 will kill
00:15:26.160 people.
00:15:26.640 You give
00:15:27.040 them power
00:15:27.780 and they
00:15:28.600 will kill
00:15:29.420 people who
00:15:30.460 disagree with
00:15:31.100 them because
00:15:31.860 they're already
00:15:32.420 trying to
00:15:33.040 silence them on
00:15:34.060 the fringes.
00:15:35.300 But they've
00:15:35.800 already also
00:15:36.900 started to
00:15:37.440 take off the
00:15:38.040 masks and
00:15:38.800 say, yeah,
00:15:39.640 we don't
00:15:40.140 believe in
00:15:40.580 capitalism.
00:15:41.080 We don't
00:15:41.960 believe in
00:15:42.720 the Constitution.
00:15:44.100 We believe
00:15:44.600 this is a
00:15:45.200 failure.
00:15:46.280 We've got to
00:15:46.700 try something
00:15:47.400 new.
00:15:48.340 Great.
00:15:49.680 But is
00:15:50.100 that you
00:15:50.860 as a
00:15:51.700 Democrat?
00:15:52.740 Is that
00:15:53.360 who you
00:15:53.960 want in
00:15:54.620 your party?
00:15:55.340 Because
00:15:55.760 anybody who
00:15:56.460 is saying
00:15:56.980 that on
00:15:57.860 my side,
00:15:58.540 I reject.
00:15:59.980 anybody who
00:16:01.940 says, yeah,
00:16:02.760 I'm going
00:16:03.520 to the
00:16:04.140 pussy ad 1.00
00:16:05.240 party and
00:16:06.020 I'm going
00:16:06.460 to collect
00:16:07.560 a lot of
00:16:08.240 blood-stained
00:16:09.080 pink hats,
00:16:10.220 I reject.
00:16:11.880 I call
00:16:12.640 out and
00:16:13.700 if I think
00:16:14.320 they're serious,
00:16:15.440 I report
00:16:16.100 them.
00:16:17.380 If that
00:16:17.700 was on
00:16:18.820 Twitter and
00:16:19.780 it was
00:16:20.680 somebody on
00:16:22.420 the right,
00:16:23.080 I would
00:16:24.040 notify
00:16:25.440 Twitter.
00:16:25.940 Oh, that
00:16:27.940 hurts your
00:16:28.480 side.
00:16:28.900 No, it
00:16:29.140 doesn't.
00:16:29.660 It helps
00:16:30.460 my side.
00:16:32.780 Because the
00:16:33.540 reason why
00:16:34.000 things failed
00:16:34.700 in the
00:16:35.060 1960s is
00:16:36.360 the violence.
00:16:38.940 Americans,
00:16:39.820 I don't
00:16:40.180 care who
00:16:40.700 you are,
00:16:42.120 but the
00:16:43.380 majority
00:16:44.200 of Americans,
00:16:45.680 and it
00:16:45.960 might be
00:16:46.560 52%,
00:16:48.000 but the
00:16:48.880 majority
00:16:49.560 of Americans
00:16:50.640 do not
00:16:53.240 want to
00:16:53.920 overturn the
00:16:54.980 Constitution
00:16:55.700 and the
00:16:56.300 Bill of
00:16:56.640 Rights,
00:16:57.700 even if
00:16:58.180 they don't
00:16:58.520 even know
00:16:58.960 really what
00:16:59.520 it means.
00:17:01.080 But they
00:17:01.800 certainly do
00:17:03.100 not want to
00:17:03.940 be a part
00:17:04.420 of violence
00:17:05.380 in the
00:17:05.900 streets.
00:17:06.900 They do
00:17:07.300 not want to
00:17:07.940 be a part
00:17:08.460 of killing
00:17:09.180 people.
00:17:10.460 They don't
00:17:11.120 want to be
00:17:11.460 a part of
00:17:11.980 assassinations.
00:17:13.060 Here we are
00:17:13.780 with the same
00:17:14.520 atmosphere of
00:17:15.500 1968.
00:17:16.980 We have been
00:17:17.440 so blessed
00:17:18.460 not to have
00:17:19.720 assassinations,
00:17:20.900 and you
00:17:21.480 have Broadway
00:17:24.100 stars jokingly
00:17:25.680 about it.
00:17:28.940 Anybody
00:17:29.580 who's
00:17:30.000 serious
00:17:30.500 is not
00:17:32.180 joking about
00:17:32.760 that.
00:17:33.920 Anybody who
00:17:34.800 really knows
00:17:35.520 what time
00:17:36.100 we're living
00:17:36.660 in,
00:17:37.900 we're not
00:17:40.500 joking about
00:17:41.120 that.
00:17:42.120 We want
00:17:42.940 no part
00:17:43.580 of that,
00:17:44.560 and that
00:17:45.680 includes many,
00:17:46.760 I believe,
00:17:47.360 Democrats.
00:17:47.940 I could be
00:17:51.040 wrong,
00:17:51.320 but I don't
00:17:53.100 think so.
00:17:54.340 I think there
00:17:55.260 is a different
00:17:56.160 kind of Tea
00:17:57.200 Party coming
00:17:58.380 for the
00:17:59.120 Democrats.
00:18:00.660 I think they
00:18:01.860 are exposing
00:18:02.640 themselves now
00:18:03.900 for who they
00:18:04.440 really are,
00:18:05.680 anti-capitalist
00:18:06.960 communists,
00:18:08.280 people who
00:18:10.120 will come
00:18:11.060 and eat
00:18:11.840 their own
00:18:12.940 because they're
00:18:15.280 already doing
00:18:16.040 it, and
00:18:17.560 the intellectual
00:18:18.400 leaders of
00:18:20.200 the left
00:18:21.260 are beginning
00:18:22.620 to leave
00:18:23.620 and say,
00:18:25.700 I want no
00:18:26.220 part of this.
00:18:27.080 I am more
00:18:27.920 afraid of the
00:18:29.000 left than I
00:18:30.080 am of the
00:18:30.920 right, and I'm
00:18:31.780 really pretty
00:18:32.540 afraid of the
00:18:33.260 right.
00:18:35.080 The wise
00:18:36.280 people have
00:18:37.280 already caught
00:18:38.600 on, and they're
00:18:39.260 getting out.
00:18:39.980 I don't
00:18:42.140 think it
00:18:42.500 will take
00:18:42.940 much longer
00:18:43.660 for the
00:18:44.160 Democrats,
00:18:44.920 the people
00:18:45.620 that are
00:18:45.940 your neighbors
00:18:46.620 in the
00:18:46.960 center of
00:18:47.400 the country,
00:18:48.640 I don't
00:18:49.440 think it's
00:18:49.840 going to
00:18:50.060 take much
00:18:50.580 more for
00:18:52.060 them to
00:18:52.460 say, I
00:18:52.980 can't be a
00:18:53.460 part of
00:18:53.720 this at
00:18:54.040 all.
00:18:55.420 But they
00:18:56.060 have to
00:18:56.820 know that
00:18:57.920 they're not
00:18:58.560 just going
00:18:59.240 to be an
00:18:59.780 orphan.
00:19:01.260 We don't
00:19:01.920 have to
00:19:02.280 agree with
00:19:02.760 each other,
00:19:03.420 but as long
00:19:04.340 as we agree
00:19:05.020 on decency,
00:19:06.240 the Bill
00:19:07.100 of Rights,
00:19:07.700 and the
00:19:07.920 Constitution,
00:19:08.400 we can
00:19:09.580 be friends
00:19:10.140 forever.
00:19:13.040 The best
00:19:13.840 of the
00:19:14.080 Glenn Beck
00:19:14.480 program.
00:19:21.540 So, you
00:19:22.340 know, I
00:19:23.380 worked really
00:19:27.180 a long time
00:19:28.200 on this
00:19:28.500 book, and
00:19:28.820 it's a
00:19:34.500 book that I
00:19:35.100 feel passionately
00:19:36.220 about, and
00:19:38.240 in the
00:19:38.720 same way
00:19:39.320 that I
00:19:39.620 did about
00:19:40.620 common
00:19:41.340 sense, when
00:19:42.660 I wrote
00:19:43.220 that, I
00:19:44.600 felt that I
00:19:45.400 was alone,
00:19:46.720 and I
00:19:48.180 considered
00:19:48.980 just releasing
00:19:50.440 it on the
00:19:51.340 internet as
00:19:53.240 anonymous.
00:19:55.260 And then
00:19:55.800 Simon &
00:19:56.220 Schuster
00:19:56.460 reminded me
00:19:57.040 about contracts
00:19:57.980 and the
00:19:58.580 written word,
00:19:59.540 so I
00:20:00.200 couldn't do
00:20:00.640 that.
00:20:01.500 But I
00:20:03.780 felt as
00:20:04.440 strongly about
00:20:05.620 that.
00:20:05.800 In fact,
00:20:06.280 I went to
00:20:07.020 Simon &
00:20:07.400 Schuster and
00:20:07.820 I said,
00:20:08.140 please don't
00:20:08.600 publish this
00:20:09.120 in hardbound.
00:20:10.540 Please.
00:20:10.920 I want to
00:20:11.520 make this as
00:20:13.240 cheap as
00:20:14.100 possible.
00:20:15.300 I want this
00:20:16.120 to be $8,
00:20:17.540 so people
00:20:18.520 could buy two
00:20:19.340 of them as
00:20:20.060 opposed to
00:20:20.560 one and
00:20:21.380 give it to
00:20:22.160 a friend.
00:20:24.140 So I
00:20:24.840 have been
00:20:25.060 giving it to
00:20:25.520 some friends,
00:20:26.180 and I
00:20:28.580 just got
00:20:29.460 an email
00:20:30.600 back from
00:20:31.460 a guy who
00:20:31.960 shall remain
00:20:32.620 nameless
00:20:33.160 because he
00:20:34.900 lives in a
00:20:35.500 dicey part of
00:20:36.200 the country
00:20:36.640 where he
00:20:37.100 cannot say
00:20:37.900 who he
00:20:38.360 is, but
00:20:39.840 he is,
00:20:40.560 you know who
00:20:40.980 I'm talking
00:20:41.400 about,
00:20:41.800 Stu.
00:20:42.060 He's a
00:20:42.560 brilliant guy.
00:20:44.360 Brilliant guy.
00:20:45.560 And doesn't
00:20:46.200 always agree with
00:20:46.900 me.
00:20:48.080 He said,
00:20:48.920 Glenn, I
00:20:49.740 want you to
00:20:50.140 know I
00:20:50.580 finished the
00:20:51.200 book today.
00:20:52.300 Then I
00:20:53.000 deleted my
00:20:53.720 Twitter account.
00:20:54.600 not that I
00:20:55.840 used it that
00:20:56.460 much, and
00:20:57.500 Facebook.
00:20:59.560 Let me lead
00:21:00.580 with my
00:21:01.040 conclusion and
00:21:02.200 then walk
00:21:02.680 through my
00:21:03.080 notes because
00:21:03.560 I asked him,
00:21:04.100 I said,
00:21:04.460 tell me what
00:21:04.920 you like,
00:21:05.560 what you
00:21:05.800 didn't
00:21:06.040 understand,
00:21:07.440 yada,
00:21:07.700 yada,
00:21:07.960 yada.
00:21:08.740 He said,
00:21:09.560 in the
00:21:09.840 beginning of
00:21:10.300 the book,
00:21:11.380 which is so
00:21:11.920 interesting because
00:21:12.620 I knew it
00:21:13.600 because I
00:21:14.400 hadn't heard
00:21:15.040 from him for
00:21:16.000 a while and
00:21:16.820 I knew,
00:21:17.520 uh-oh,
00:21:18.180 he's having
00:21:19.120 a problem with
00:21:19.680 this.
00:21:20.500 Let me lead
00:21:20.960 with my
00:21:21.220 conclusion and
00:21:21.700 then walk
00:21:21.940 through my
00:21:22.260 notes.
00:21:22.880 In the
00:21:23.120 beginning of
00:21:23.560 the book,
00:21:24.020 I felt like
00:21:24.600 I was just
00:21:25.160 reading three
00:21:25.840 different books
00:21:26.660 in one.
00:21:27.980 But about
00:21:28.700 two-thirds of
00:21:29.600 the way
00:21:29.900 through,
00:21:30.440 I realized,
00:21:31.580 one,
00:21:32.260 you can't
00:21:32.980 ask or
00:21:33.440 expect someone
00:21:34.060 to read
00:21:34.600 three books,
00:21:35.660 and two,
00:21:36.660 all of the
00:21:37.640 information had
00:21:39.120 to be in a
00:21:40.000 single book,
00:21:40.840 and it was
00:21:41.620 actually exactly
00:21:42.780 the right way
00:21:43.720 to do it.
00:21:44.720 For a lot of
00:21:45.600 the book,
00:21:46.100 I felt like I
00:21:46.920 know what
00:21:47.340 you're saying,
00:21:48.120 but I mean,
00:21:48.640 you're not
00:21:49.160 talking to me
00:21:50.000 because I
00:21:50.480 don't have an
00:21:51.040 outrage addiction
00:21:51.840 problem.
00:21:53.180 But at
00:21:53.520 some point,
00:21:54.340 I got the
00:21:54.940 sense of
00:21:55.600 what it
00:21:55.960 must feel
00:21:56.560 like to
00:21:56.980 realize you're
00:21:57.820 in denial
00:21:58.360 and actually
00:21:59.080 have a
00:21:59.480 problem.
00:22:00.440 By the
00:22:01.080 last few
00:22:01.680 chapters,
00:22:02.160 I had a
00:22:02.900 sense that
00:22:03.380 this was
00:22:03.780 exactly the
00:22:04.840 book I
00:22:05.320 needed to
00:22:05.900 read right
00:22:06.720 now.
00:22:07.760 It's been a
00:22:08.960 rough few
00:22:09.640 months, and
00:22:10.520 he goes into
00:22:11.160 some personal
00:22:11.760 problems.
00:22:12.600 One of them
00:22:13.140 was, one of
00:22:14.200 my friends,
00:22:15.040 a buddy of
00:22:15.600 mine, I
00:22:16.100 just found
00:22:16.580 out is now
00:22:17.260 a transhumanist
00:22:18.540 who thinks
00:22:19.100 humans need
00:22:20.040 to be extinct
00:22:21.060 and animals
00:22:22.340 are more
00:22:22.760 important than
00:22:23.360 people and
00:22:24.060 religion is 0.76
00:22:24.760 just a cover
00:22:25.280 for racists
00:22:26.080 and rapists.
00:22:27.440 I also feel
00:22:28.560 like I'm
00:22:28.980 golden handcuffed
00:22:30.080 in a job
00:22:30.980 and I want
00:22:32.480 to wake up
00:22:33.200 and leave, 0.97
00:22:34.100 but I can't
00:22:34.940 and I have
00:22:35.720 to hide
00:22:36.280 who I really
00:22:37.020 am.
00:22:38.020 I don't
00:22:38.980 drink, but
00:22:40.920 I have to
00:22:41.520 admit, I do
00:22:42.920 like some
00:22:43.460 outrage when I
00:22:44.340 come home
00:22:44.900 after a hard
00:22:45.620 day.
00:22:46.820 Hi, my
00:22:47.640 name is
00:22:48.060 blank, and
00:22:49.460 I'm a
00:22:49.900 rageaholic.
00:22:51.900 By the
00:22:52.560 end of the
00:22:52.920 book, I
00:22:53.880 realized this
00:22:54.920 might be the
00:22:55.580 book you
00:22:56.020 were born to
00:22:56.740 write, even
00:22:57.540 if it's
00:22:57.960 before its
00:22:58.540 time.
00:22:59.440 I hope
00:22:59.880 people read
00:23:00.500 this cover
00:23:01.000 to cover
00:23:01.420 and don't
00:23:01.940 set it down
00:23:02.460 halfway through
00:23:03.240 and not
00:23:03.600 pick it
00:23:03.900 back up.
00:23:04.520 The ending
00:23:05.280 is the
00:23:05.840 most important
00:23:06.780 part, but
00:23:07.860 here's the
00:23:08.400 thread you
00:23:09.340 were running
00:23:09.840 throughout that
00:23:11.380 stood out to
00:23:12.080 me that I
00:23:12.940 just need to
00:23:13.680 sort out.
00:23:14.720 I've been
00:23:15.120 able to see
00:23:15.620 the clouds
00:23:16.040 on the horizon
00:23:16.700 as long as
00:23:17.220 I can
00:23:17.460 remember, and
00:23:18.000 I know
00:23:18.520 whatever is
00:23:20.460 coming is
00:23:21.260 building up
00:23:21.940 to something
00:23:22.620 that's going
00:23:23.020 to be a
00:23:23.440 very rough
00:23:24.120 go.
00:23:25.220 I worry
00:23:25.880 there's a
00:23:26.360 big step
00:23:26.900 missing that
00:23:27.960 would be
00:23:28.560 required to
00:23:29.460 make people
00:23:29.960 understand this
00:23:31.240 book, something
00:23:32.520 similar to
00:23:33.320 rock bottom in
00:23:34.460 AA.
00:23:35.400 I have
00:23:36.560 assumed that
00:23:37.300 it will be
00:23:37.700 civil war or
00:23:38.840 a world war
00:23:39.760 or both.
00:23:41.740 Can we as
00:23:43.220 humans skip 0.99
00:23:44.300 over that rock
00:23:45.420 bottom and go
00:23:46.320 right to
00:23:46.760 the healing?
00:23:48.020 That's the
00:23:48.600 part I have
00:23:49.220 to pray on
00:23:49.920 and I still
00:23:50.660 doubt I'll
00:23:51.320 have the
00:23:51.740 answer.
00:23:52.700 I think for
00:23:53.720 your audience
00:23:54.520 the answer
00:23:55.180 is yes,
00:23:56.840 but who
00:23:57.900 else?
00:23:59.360 I don't know
00:24:00.280 if you can be a
00:24:00.860 better person
00:24:01.360 without rock
00:24:01.880 bottom, but we
00:24:04.920 all have different
00:24:05.660 rock bottoms.
00:24:06.240 I have friends
00:24:10.280 who are not
00:24:11.120 going to shed
00:24:12.320 their outrage
00:24:13.060 because it
00:24:13.700 feels good
00:24:14.220 and they
00:24:17.600 like it
00:24:18.180 and they
00:24:19.080 feel that for
00:24:19.700 the first
00:24:20.100 time they're
00:24:22.160 winning and I
00:24:23.760 can't argue
00:24:24.220 with that.
00:24:25.620 You are
00:24:26.360 pushing back,
00:24:28.340 you are
00:24:28.900 opening people's
00:24:29.960 eyes to,
00:24:31.680 you are
00:24:32.280 saying the
00:24:34.480 things that
00:24:35.160 you weren't
00:24:35.760 allowed to
00:24:36.560 say to the
00:24:37.340 mainstream media
00:24:38.400 and you've
00:24:40.840 got them on
00:24:41.440 the ropes.
00:24:42.320 I agree
00:24:43.220 with you.
00:24:45.340 However,
00:24:46.660 that is a
00:24:49.140 short-term
00:24:50.060 high and
00:24:52.660 it does
00:24:53.540 feel good
00:24:54.240 and I
00:24:55.580 understand
00:24:56.140 as an
00:24:57.060 alcoholic
00:24:57.560 that
00:24:58.940 sometimes
00:24:59.440 you're in
00:25:00.100 so much
00:25:00.760 pain
00:25:01.240 that you
00:25:02.660 will pick
00:25:03.300 up the
00:25:03.740 bottle
00:25:04.100 and you
00:25:04.880 will drink
00:25:05.620 and at
00:25:06.120 the beginning
00:25:06.740 it just
00:25:08.220 feels good
00:25:08.980 and you
00:25:09.500 say to
00:25:09.920 yourself
00:25:10.420 I need
00:25:11.560 this.
00:25:12.200 I need
00:25:12.480 this to
00:25:12.820 blow off
00:25:13.320 steam.
00:25:13.880 I need
00:25:14.220 this to
00:25:14.640 be able
00:25:15.000 to cope
00:25:15.500 with the
00:25:15.820 day.
00:25:16.220 It's been
00:25:16.400 a horrible
00:25:17.020 horrible
00:25:17.440 day and
00:25:18.980 I need
00:25:19.540 it and
00:25:19.780 this just
00:25:20.160 makes me
00:25:20.560 feel better.
00:25:21.560 I even
00:25:22.020 got to a
00:25:22.480 point to
00:25:22.820 where I
00:25:23.120 was saying
00:25:23.460 to myself
00:25:23.920 I was a
00:25:24.440 better dad
00:25:25.280 as an
00:25:25.860 alcoholic.
00:25:26.300 I have
00:25:27.540 to drink
00:25:28.080 because it
00:25:29.020 slows me
00:25:29.620 down enough
00:25:30.440 to be able
00:25:31.380 to play
00:25:31.820 with the
00:25:32.100 kids and
00:25:32.600 be with
00:25:32.800 the kids
00:25:33.020 so I'm
00:25:33.460 a better
00:25:33.920 dad.
00:25:35.300 No I
00:25:35.940 really wasn't
00:25:37.160 and for
00:25:37.940 a short
00:25:38.960 period of
00:25:39.460 time maybe
00:25:40.040 it did
00:25:40.640 slow me 0.89
00:25:41.220 down enough
00:25:41.980 because I'm
00:25:42.300 riddled
00:25:42.520 with ADD
00:25:43.280 maybe it
00:25:44.180 did slow
00:25:44.660 me down
00:25:45.080 enough to
00:25:45.560 be able
00:25:45.960 to play
00:25:46.320 with the
00:25:46.580 kids but
00:25:47.220 in the
00:25:47.960 long run
00:25:48.600 it made
00:25:49.120 me a
00:25:49.580 horrible
00:25:50.360 dad because
00:25:52.360 all the
00:25:52.740 alcohol did 0.93
00:25:53.680 was let
00:25:55.640 me avoid
00:25:56.220 what the
00:25:56.560 real problem
00:25:57.160 was and
00:25:58.780 the real
00:25:59.100 problem is
00:25:59.700 not Donald
00:26:00.180 Trump that
00:26:01.020 is not
00:26:01.760 the problem
00:26:02.640 if Donald
00:26:04.020 Trump was
00:26:04.840 sucked into
00:26:06.100 space suddenly
00:26:07.360 because some
00:26:09.060 Broadway
00:26:09.500 actresses had 0.99
00:26:11.380 a portal and
00:26:12.180 they could
00:26:12.520 open up the
00:26:13.980 envelope of
00:26:14.760 space and
00:26:15.340 just suck 1.00
00:26:15.960 him out.
00:26:16.660 That wouldn't
00:26:16.920 happen because
00:26:17.420 of Space
00:26:17.880 Force but go
00:26:18.520 ahead.
00:26:18.880 Okay that's
00:26:20.180 probably why he
00:26:21.060 wants Space
00:26:21.700 Force but
00:26:22.320 our problems
00:26:24.760 wouldn't
00:26:26.600 change.
00:26:27.980 They would
00:26:28.560 just move
00:26:29.060 to Mike
00:26:29.420 Pence.
00:26:30.940 So it's
00:26:31.800 not Donald
00:26:32.540 Trump and
00:26:33.980 it's not
00:26:35.280 that they
00:26:37.680 are the
00:26:38.460 Democratic
00:26:39.100 Party.
00:26:40.200 It's not
00:26:41.200 the Democratic
00:26:42.260 Party.
00:26:43.060 The Democratic
00:26:43.940 Party is
00:26:45.880 being consumed
00:26:47.600 because they
00:26:48.840 are playing
00:26:49.360 host to a
00:26:50.860 very dangerous
00:26:51.740 virus and
00:26:53.000 that virus
00:26:53.680 is post
00:26:55.480 modernism.
00:26:57.680 And once
00:26:58.500 you understand
00:26:59.280 that you
00:27:00.040 will understand
00:27:00.680 that it
00:27:02.160 relies on
00:27:03.180 chaos.
00:27:03.820 Do you
00:27:03.980 remember when
00:27:04.540 I said
00:27:05.100 years ago
00:27:06.260 chaos is
00:27:08.280 going to be
00:27:08.780 the operative
00:27:09.380 word?
00:27:10.740 And I
00:27:11.540 remember I
00:27:12.560 remember because
00:27:13.180 I saw the
00:27:13.940 word chaos
00:27:14.880 with the
00:27:16.560 12th the
00:27:17.220 mom.
00:27:18.460 And the
00:27:18.860 ideology of
00:27:20.280 those who
00:27:20.880 are behind
00:27:22.020 the government
00:27:22.740 in Iran is
00:27:24.080 the ideology
00:27:24.800 of the
00:27:25.180 12th the
00:27:25.540 mom.
00:27:25.800 That he
00:27:25.980 will return
00:27:26.580 and he
00:27:27.320 will wash
00:27:27.840 the world
00:27:28.240 in blood.
00:27:29.000 No, I'm
00:27:29.200 sorry.
00:27:29.600 That the
00:27:30.200 world will
00:27:30.660 be washed
00:27:31.140 in blood
00:27:31.600 by his
00:27:32.100 supporters.
00:27:32.920 And when
00:27:33.680 they create
00:27:34.560 enough chaos,
00:27:36.280 that's when
00:27:37.520 the 12th the
00:27:38.140 mom will
00:27:38.880 return.
00:27:39.960 Well, that's
00:27:40.560 another way of
00:27:41.180 saying Armageddon.
00:27:42.680 But they
00:27:43.440 specifically use
00:27:44.460 the word
00:27:44.840 chaos.
00:27:45.780 And then I
00:27:46.820 noticed Russia,
00:27:48.200 the chief
00:27:49.080 advisor to
00:27:49.820 Russia, is
00:27:50.820 a guy whose
00:27:51.360 symbol is the
00:27:52.540 ancient symbol
00:27:53.460 of chaos.
00:27:54.080 And he's
00:27:55.160 trying to
00:27:55.760 destroy the
00:27:56.520 Western way
00:27:57.180 of life through
00:27:58.320 nationalism,
00:27:59.500 through chaos.
00:28:01.960 what was the
00:28:04.280 goal of
00:28:05.520 Russia? 0.61
00:28:07.640 Because we're
00:28:08.500 arguing about
00:28:09.420 Donald Trump,
00:28:10.300 we're missing
00:28:10.980 the point.
00:28:12.120 The point was
00:28:13.000 not about getting
00:28:13.980 Donald Trump
00:28:14.680 elected.
00:28:15.500 The point was
00:28:16.700 to cause
00:28:17.500 chaos.
00:28:19.000 It was to
00:28:19.660 pit us against
00:28:20.940 each other and
00:28:22.080 our institutions.
00:28:23.500 To get us to
00:28:25.120 not believe in
00:28:26.780 the government,
00:28:27.580 not believe in
00:28:28.740 the FBI,
00:28:29.940 not believe in
00:28:30.960 the election,
00:28:32.040 not believe
00:28:32.720 that we can
00:28:34.480 hold fair
00:28:35.280 elections,
00:28:36.080 not believe in
00:28:37.140 the Republicans,
00:28:37.980 not believe in
00:28:39.040 the Democrats.
00:28:40.040 You'll notice
00:28:40.740 what they did
00:28:41.540 is they pitted
00:28:42.680 the Democrats
00:28:43.680 against each
00:28:45.040 other.
00:28:46.540 By the only
00:28:48.640 thing they did
00:28:49.160 was expose
00:28:50.260 them for
00:28:52.340 dividing the
00:28:53.840 party in
00:28:54.460 half.
00:28:55.560 Well, what did
00:28:56.300 that do?
00:28:56.900 That caused 0.77
00:28:57.500 chaos with
00:28:58.480 inside the
00:28:59.160 party.
00:29:00.220 Putin is
00:29:01.260 applauding.
00:29:03.300 This plan
00:29:03.940 has worked
00:29:04.400 out far
00:29:05.220 better than
00:29:06.260 he could
00:29:06.560 have ever
00:29:07.140 hoped because
00:29:09.300 we've turned
00:29:10.080 on each
00:29:10.560 other.
00:29:12.600 If Lincoln
00:29:14.100 was right,
00:29:15.800 this country
00:29:18.460 will never be
00:29:19.140 destroyed from
00:29:19.940 the outside.
00:29:21.500 It will only
00:29:22.560 be destroyed
00:29:23.200 when we turn
00:29:24.060 on each
00:29:24.840 other in
00:29:26.980 chaos.
00:29:28.380 And when
00:29:29.140 you're afraid
00:29:29.840 because things
00:29:30.600 are chaotic,
00:29:31.820 and when you
00:29:32.800 are afraid
00:29:33.700 because someone
00:29:34.940 is beating
00:29:35.620 up on you,
00:29:37.240 all reason
00:29:38.580 leaves.
00:29:41.140 You go back
00:29:42.320 to your
00:29:42.740 lizard brain.
00:29:45.200 We cannot
00:29:46.560 engage in
00:29:48.520 chaos.
00:29:49.240 We cannot
00:29:49.700 engage in
00:29:50.980 outrage.
00:29:51.580 We must
00:29:53.160 instead
00:29:54.680 re-fortify
00:29:58.460 the fort
00:30:00.040 and the
00:30:00.640 walls around
00:30:01.700 reason.
00:30:04.880 And both
00:30:05.800 sides have
00:30:06.280 to do it.
00:30:07.160 And we
00:30:07.460 have to
00:30:07.720 have
00:30:08.020 reasonable
00:30:09.180 conversations.
00:30:10.680 Somebody
00:30:11.020 said to
00:30:11.480 me last
00:30:12.560 week,
00:30:13.660 Glenn, I
00:30:14.320 think the
00:30:14.560 big difference
00:30:15.060 between us
00:30:15.820 is you
00:30:17.660 believe in
00:30:18.120 reconciliation,
00:30:18.660 and there
00:30:19.380 are people
00:30:19.740 that we
00:30:20.180 cannot
00:30:20.500 reconcile
00:30:20.980 with.
00:30:21.500 And I
00:30:21.700 said,
00:30:22.880 oh, I
00:30:23.220 understand
00:30:24.720 that.
00:30:26.280 I'm not
00:30:26.860 stupid. 0.90
00:30:27.720 Martin Luther
00:30:28.060 King did
00:30:28.520 not say,
00:30:29.340 hey, go
00:30:29.860 hug it
00:30:30.300 out at a
00:30:30.780 cross burning.
00:30:32.800 You don't
00:30:33.600 know.
00:30:34.460 They want
00:30:34.840 to kill
00:30:35.220 you.
00:30:36.400 Now, if
00:30:37.200 there is a
00:30:37.820 cross burner
00:30:38.540 who takes
00:30:39.200 off the
00:30:39.560 hood and
00:30:39.860 says, you
00:30:40.180 know what,
00:30:41.160 I see the
00:30:42.580 error of my
00:30:43.140 ways, I
00:30:43.660 can reconcile
00:30:44.120 with you.
00:30:45.020 But if you
00:30:45.360 still want to
00:30:45.820 kill me, if
00:30:46.480 you're still
00:30:46.840 trying to
00:30:47.300 destroy the
00:30:48.040 Bill of
00:30:48.360 Rights and
00:30:48.900 the Constitution,
00:30:49.540 I can't
00:30:50.740 reconcile with
00:30:51.540 you.
00:30:51.660 I can love
00:30:52.080 you, I
00:30:53.320 can despise
00:30:54.020 the things
00:30:54.380 you're doing,
00:30:55.340 and I
00:30:56.200 don't have
00:30:56.640 to hate
00:30:57.040 you, but
00:30:58.480 I'm not
00:30:58.900 going to
00:30:59.120 give you
00:30:59.440 the power
00:30:59.920 over my
00:31:00.500 life to
00:31:01.480 make me
00:31:03.920 outraged.
00:31:04.640 That power
00:31:05.200 belongs to
00:31:05.680 me.
00:31:05.980 You cannot
00:31:06.620 make me
00:31:07.240 outraged.
00:31:07.900 My outrage
00:31:08.600 comes from
00:31:09.440 me.
00:31:11.560 And I'll
00:31:12.420 decide when
00:31:13.740 I'm going to
00:31:14.200 be outraged
00:31:14.840 and how
00:31:15.360 I'm going
00:31:15.880 to react
00:31:16.400 to everything
00:31:16.860 that you're
00:31:17.220 doing.
00:31:18.380 And I
00:31:19.140 know that
00:31:20.840 if we are
00:31:21.220 going to
00:31:21.580 save the
00:31:22.300 Western way
00:31:23.000 of life,
00:31:23.900 then we
00:31:25.740 must go to
00:31:26.580 the principles
00:31:27.360 that the
00:31:27.960 Western way
00:31:28.620 of life
00:31:29.240 was founded
00:31:31.500 on.
00:31:33.000 And that
00:31:33.780 is reason
00:31:34.940 and logic
00:31:36.540 and, yes,
00:31:39.080 the teachings
00:31:39.740 of Jesus
00:31:40.400 Christ.
00:31:42.700 Love one
00:31:43.460 another.
00:31:44.420 Treat them
00:31:45.180 as you
00:31:45.960 want to be
00:31:46.640 treated
00:31:46.920 yourself,
00:31:47.820 even when
00:31:48.980 they slap
00:31:49.620 you across
00:31:50.200 the face.
00:31:51.000 That is
00:31:51.660 not a
00:31:52.580 retreat.
00:31:53.400 You never
00:31:54.200 retreat from
00:31:54.920 your principles.
00:31:57.320 There is
00:31:58.480 a time
00:31:59.060 to fight.
00:32:01.680 But this
00:32:02.520 is not the
00:32:02.940 time,
00:32:03.500 because that
00:32:04.700 is exactly
00:32:05.680 what they
00:32:06.480 need.
00:32:07.480 They need
00:32:08.680 you to
00:32:09.160 respond and
00:32:10.460 be vitriolic,
00:32:12.360 vengeful,
00:32:12.940 spiteful,
00:32:14.220 because that's
00:32:15.940 the way to
00:32:16.520 destroy
00:32:17.020 everything that
00:32:19.640 has taken
00:32:20.060 centuries to
00:32:21.040 build.
00:32:25.320 This is the
00:32:26.380 best of the
00:32:26.900 Glenn Beck
00:32:27.300 program.
00:32:27.820 Glenn Beck
00:32:31.200 is coming
00:32:47.700 live to talk
00:32:48.560 about the
00:32:48.860 right path
00:32:49.280 forward and
00:32:50.140 to make fun
00:32:50.680 of the people
00:32:51.100 standing in the
00:32:51.760 way.
00:32:52.240 He might not
00:32:52.660 be able to
00:32:53.060 save the
00:32:53.360 country,
00:32:53.900 but at least
00:32:54.320 we can all
00:32:54.800 go down
00:32:55.140 laughing.
00:32:55.800 Glenn Beck
00:32:56.320 live the
00:32:57.080 Addicted to
00:32:57.620 Outrage
00:32:58.060 tour on
00:32:59.100 tour this
00:32:59.680 fall.
00:33:01.240 I believe we
00:33:02.060 have Brad
00:33:02.380 Melter on
00:33:03.680 the phone.
00:33:04.800 He is the
00:33:05.260 author of a
00:33:05.900 new children's
00:33:06.800 book that
00:33:07.600 we'll talk
00:33:07.920 about here in
00:33:08.320 a second
00:33:08.620 called I
00:33:09.360 Am Neil
00:33:09.800 Armstrong.
00:33:11.040 But Brad,
00:33:11.980 it's the day
00:33:13.860 after 9-11.
00:33:15.700 Where were
00:33:16.460 you on 9-11?
00:33:17.360 I was in
00:33:19.380 Washington,
00:33:19.920 D.C.
00:33:20.820 My 9-month
00:33:22.120 pregnant wife 1.00
00:33:23.220 worked in
00:33:23.880 the U.S.
00:33:24.360 Capitol, and
00:33:25.880 she was
00:33:26.580 driving to
00:33:27.340 the Capitol
00:33:27.860 after the
00:33:28.760 towers were
00:33:29.280 hit.
00:33:30.220 And she
00:33:30.860 said, you
00:33:31.280 know, I
00:33:31.820 wonder if
00:33:32.180 they're going
00:33:32.340 to up
00:33:32.620 security at
00:33:33.660 the Capitol
00:33:34.280 because, and
00:33:35.380 then she
00:33:35.660 stopped on
00:33:36.280 the side of
00:33:36.740 the road, Glenn.
00:33:37.740 She pulled
00:33:38.540 over off on
00:33:39.320 the side and
00:33:39.820 said, wait a
00:33:40.200 minute, the
00:33:40.500 Capitol has
00:33:41.060 terrible, terrible
00:33:42.680 security.
00:33:43.700 I have a bad
00:33:44.600 feeling I'm not
00:33:45.360 going to go into
00:33:45.880 work today.
00:33:46.480 And we
00:33:48.320 all know now,
00:33:49.180 of course, that
00:33:49.880 the Pennsylvania
00:33:50.420 flight was
00:33:51.880 believed to be
00:33:52.440 headed to the
00:33:52.880 Capitol.
00:33:53.760 So those
00:33:54.520 people on that
00:33:55.320 flight, in a
00:33:56.860 different universe,
00:33:57.880 with a twist of
00:33:58.720 fate, it was
00:34:00.560 headed right for
00:34:01.140 my 9-month
00:34:01.660 pregnant wife. 0.97
00:34:02.640 And we owe
00:34:03.660 those people
00:34:04.080 forever.
00:34:04.760 And I came
00:34:05.800 outside because
00:34:07.180 our dear friend
00:34:08.240 Michelle Heidenberger,
00:34:09.080 our neighbor who
00:34:09.580 lived truly across
00:34:10.520 the street from
00:34:11.020 us, she was
00:34:13.060 the flight attendant
00:34:13.900 on the Pentagon
00:34:14.520 flight.
00:34:15.720 So needless
00:34:16.420 to say, when
00:34:17.380 we were
00:34:17.620 searching for
00:34:18.040 the 9-11
00:34:18.540 flag, it was
00:34:20.800 one of the
00:34:21.120 most personal
00:34:21.640 searches we've
00:34:22.300 ever undertaken.
00:34:23.520 I have to
00:34:24.240 tell you, one
00:34:25.240 of the most
00:34:25.580 incredible stories
00:34:26.300 I think I've
00:34:26.780 ever heard, I
00:34:27.600 had no idea
00:34:28.580 that your wife
00:34:29.640 was nine
00:34:30.400 months old and
00:34:31.260 pregnant.
00:34:31.760 I don't even
00:34:32.080 know how that
00:34:32.560 happens.
00:34:33.080 It's weird.
00:34:33.800 I was going
00:34:34.320 to say, it's
00:34:34.740 an amazing
00:34:35.180 time.
00:34:37.840 I want to
00:34:38.560 bring up the
00:34:39.040 flag, because
00:34:40.560 the flag, the
00:34:42.180 one that was
00:34:43.040 flown by the
00:34:45.160 firefighters, that
00:34:45.860 famous shot of
00:34:47.180 the firefighters
00:34:47.720 with the flag,
00:34:48.900 that flag went
00:34:50.460 missing quickly.
00:34:52.300 You are the
00:34:53.040 guy who found
00:34:53.940 the flag and
00:34:55.180 returned it to
00:34:57.640 ground zero.
00:34:59.460 And then, if I'm
00:35:01.080 not mistaken, your
00:35:02.360 child was just
00:35:03.680 assigned a
00:35:05.440 homework
00:35:06.540 assignment, right?
00:35:08.660 Can we, this
00:35:10.520 may be the
00:35:12.140 greatest thing
00:35:12.620 that's ever
00:35:12.980 happened to
00:35:13.420 me.
00:35:13.860 So I am
00:35:14.600 leaving for the
00:35:15.840 book tour for
00:35:16.480 I Am Neil
00:35:16.900 Armstrong yesterday.
00:35:18.000 I am an hour
00:35:18.660 away from headed
00:35:19.380 for the plane.
00:35:20.480 My son walks
00:35:21.480 in, my young
00:35:22.120 son walks in and
00:35:22.840 says, Dad, look
00:35:24.160 what our homework
00:35:24.720 assignment is.
00:35:25.460 And it's a
00:35:25.820 homework assignment
00:35:26.600 about the
00:35:27.860 person finding the
00:35:29.160 9-11 flag.
00:35:30.620 And my son
00:35:31.160 proudly says, Dad,
00:35:32.260 they don't mention
00:35:32.800 you in it, they
00:35:33.200 just mention that a
00:35:34.280 TV show found
00:35:35.020 it.
00:35:35.740 And I was
00:35:37.440 like, son, you
00:35:38.420 are going to
00:35:39.080 crush homework
00:35:40.120 tomorrow.
00:35:42.440 And the best
00:35:43.620 part of this is
00:35:45.900 I wake up this
00:35:46.740 morning, I just
00:35:48.260 found this, and
00:35:49.260 it has gone to
00:35:50.680 national news.
00:35:51.380 I put it on my
00:35:51.800 Twitter account.
00:35:52.400 Yahoo just
00:35:52.980 picked it up.
00:35:53.420 It's become a
00:35:53.860 national news
00:35:54.520 story that the
00:35:55.080 guy who found
00:35:55.660 the 9-11 flag
00:35:56.700 that his teacher
00:35:57.780 assigned an
00:35:59.100 assignment on him
00:35:59.780 and she didn't
00:36:00.160 even know.
00:36:00.820 So the funniest
00:36:01.520 part of the whole
00:36:02.100 thing is at 6
00:36:02.860 o'clock this
00:36:03.500 morning, I get an
00:36:04.220 email from the
00:36:04.780 teacher that's
00:36:05.160 saying, I'm
00:36:05.520 so sorry, I
00:36:06.380 didn't know it
00:36:06.800 was you.
00:36:07.260 And I'm like, it's
00:36:07.840 fine.
00:36:08.300 It was so many
00:36:09.100 of us.
00:36:09.800 It was obviously
00:36:10.420 one of the great
00:36:10.920 blessings of my
00:36:11.520 life is to play a
00:36:12.660 small role in its
00:36:13.520 return.
00:36:14.120 And the fact that
00:36:15.180 it leads to one of
00:36:16.620 the greatest, you
00:36:17.260 know, she said, I
00:36:17.900 said, you don't
00:36:18.360 understand, I need
00:36:19.500 to thank you because
00:36:20.220 this comedy bit is
00:36:21.200 going to play
00:36:21.580 forever.
00:36:22.360 Oh, and your
00:36:22.740 son, your son
00:36:24.340 sees you as a
00:36:25.360 hero.
00:36:25.860 And that's
00:36:26.560 fantastic.
00:36:27.640 I mean, anything
00:36:28.140 that will reinforce,
00:36:29.420 you know, my dad
00:36:30.820 is cool, I think
00:36:32.000 is great.
00:36:32.880 That's an
00:36:33.260 impossibility,
00:36:33.980 right?
00:36:34.100 So that's like
00:36:34.900 defying gravity is
00:36:36.000 my dad is cool.
00:36:37.160 So yes, we will
00:36:37.680 take it any day.
00:36:38.560 So did Yahoo
00:36:40.060 know that on
00:36:42.360 9-11 you were
00:36:43.840 married to a
00:36:44.620 nine-month-old who
00:36:45.820 was pregnant?
00:36:47.720 That's the bigger
00:36:48.480 story.
00:36:48.940 It really is.
00:36:49.900 It really is.
00:36:50.780 Yeah.
00:36:51.240 Okay, tell me
00:36:52.020 about the book,
00:36:53.420 Neil Armstrong.
00:36:53.960 The reason why I'm
00:36:54.460 having you on is I
00:36:55.740 love your books in
00:36:56.420 the first place.
00:36:57.000 I love your adult
00:36:58.960 books, but the
00:37:00.080 children books are
00:37:00.940 just fantastic for
00:37:02.660 children.
00:37:03.160 They teach
00:37:03.800 principles and
00:37:05.060 they teach all
00:37:06.180 about heroes.
00:37:08.220 I wanted to have
00:37:09.380 you on because
00:37:10.360 Neil Armstrong
00:37:11.340 been in the news
00:37:12.200 recently.
00:37:13.800 I mean, I
00:37:14.480 really believe,
00:37:15.520 Glenn, that,
00:37:16.220 you know, it is
00:37:16.960 no coincidence that
00:37:18.060 he's in the news.
00:37:18.800 And it's not just
00:37:19.420 because of,
00:37:20.180 obviously, the
00:37:21.220 ridiculousness that
00:37:22.160 the new movie
00:37:22.760 apparently doesn't
00:37:23.860 have him planting
00:37:24.480 the flag.
00:37:25.120 It's not just
00:37:26.120 that I wrote a
00:37:26.700 book and these
00:37:27.660 things happen for
00:37:28.600 a reason.
00:37:29.580 I really believe
00:37:30.540 that in all times
00:37:32.020 of history, you
00:37:32.700 don't get the
00:37:33.260 heroes you want.
00:37:34.380 You get the
00:37:35.000 heroes you need.
00:37:35.840 There's a need
00:37:36.460 out there.
00:37:37.600 And I think a
00:37:38.620 humble person like
00:37:40.360 Neil Armstrong is
00:37:41.800 the hero we need
00:37:42.820 right now.
00:37:43.380 And I wrote the
00:37:44.220 book purposely
00:37:44.900 because I wanted
00:37:47.160 my kids to learn
00:37:47.940 that kind of
00:37:48.500 humility.
00:37:49.140 I mean, this is a
00:37:49.620 children's book.
00:37:50.320 It teaches you
00:37:50.840 about, of course,
00:37:51.560 the space launch.
00:37:52.740 But Neil Armstrong
00:37:53.420 used to never use
00:37:54.420 the word
00:37:54.820 I.
00:37:55.700 He used the
00:37:56.160 word we.
00:37:56.700 We did this.
00:37:57.880 His quote was
00:37:58.760 when they took
00:37:59.160 the Apollo mission,
00:38:00.580 he said,
00:38:00.980 please tell everyone
00:38:01.680 who worked on
00:38:02.260 this that this
00:38:03.240 is their launch.
00:38:04.060 Tell them that
00:38:04.860 they'll be riding
00:38:05.440 with us all the
00:38:06.120 way.
00:38:06.340 And he meant
00:38:06.760 the scientists.
00:38:07.780 He meant the
00:38:08.140 mathematicians.
00:38:09.120 He meant the
00:38:09.980 people who sewed
00:38:10.980 the tailors,
00:38:11.580 who sewed the
00:38:12.260 spacesuit together.
00:38:13.780 Remember when
00:38:14.500 humility was a
00:38:15.460 great American
00:38:16.140 value?
00:38:17.220 I wrote,
00:38:17.840 I am Neil
00:38:18.200 Armstrong because I
00:38:19.400 want my sons to
00:38:20.300 learn that humility.
00:38:21.520 I want my daughter
00:38:22.420 to learn that kind
00:38:23.200 of humility again
00:38:23.780 because we've lost
00:38:24.420 it.
00:38:25.800 Was the outrage
00:38:26.840 over the flag,
00:38:28.220 was that,
00:38:29.500 what did you make
00:38:31.920 of all of that?
00:38:33.080 You know,
00:38:33.460 so here's what I
00:38:34.000 think.
00:38:34.340 I mean,
00:38:34.860 let's be very
00:38:35.540 clear.
00:38:36.200 The movie's not out
00:38:37.100 yet,
00:38:37.380 so no one's seen
00:38:38.140 it.
00:38:38.840 Apparently,
00:38:39.340 I tried,
00:38:39.940 of course,
00:38:40.260 to check it out.
00:38:41.580 Apparently,
00:38:42.080 the flag is
00:38:43.180 featured predominantly,
00:38:44.320 but let's also be
00:38:45.100 clear.
00:38:46.260 Landing on the moon
00:38:47.100 was an American
00:38:48.640 achievement,
00:38:49.580 without question,
00:38:50.880 right?
00:38:51.140 It happened
00:38:51.700 because the
00:38:52.180 president of the
00:38:52.660 United States
00:38:53.140 said,
00:38:53.560 we are going
00:38:54.020 to do this,
00:38:54.600 we're going
00:38:54.800 to do it
00:38:55.220 together,
00:38:55.660 and it was
00:38:56.440 America who
00:38:57.140 got us there.
00:38:57.760 It was a race 0.98
00:38:58.540 against the
00:38:59.160 Russians,
00:38:59.680 truly.
00:39:00.800 I think that
00:39:01.700 the big mess-up
00:39:03.320 that they made
00:39:04.100 was simply that,
00:39:05.700 you know,
00:39:06.120 the star of the
00:39:06.820 movie said,
00:39:07.440 oh,
00:39:07.640 it's a human
00:39:08.540 achievement.
00:39:09.080 It's not a human
00:39:09.740 achievement.
00:39:10.360 I mean,
00:39:10.700 certainly humans
00:39:11.340 were responsible.
00:39:11.880 It's an American
00:39:12.480 achievement.
00:39:13.700 But from what I
00:39:14.560 hear,
00:39:15.000 Neil Armstrong's
00:39:15.780 sons said the
00:39:17.560 flags featured
00:39:18.200 predominantly.
00:39:18.780 I'm going to
00:39:19.120 trust his family
00:39:19.900 that if they're
00:39:21.140 happy with it,
00:39:21.660 I'm going to
00:39:21.880 be happy with
00:39:22.360 it.
00:39:22.500 And I tend
00:39:22.960 to not want
00:39:23.540 to get in
00:39:23.840 controversies
00:39:24.460 where no one's
00:39:25.620 seen the movie
00:39:26.020 and we just
00:39:26.400 want to have
00:39:26.760 a controversy
00:39:27.220 because we're
00:39:27.620 having a
00:39:27.940 controversy.
00:39:28.140 That seems
00:39:28.660 antithetical to
00:39:29.800 what Neil Armstrong
00:39:30.500 stands for,
00:39:31.320 which is that
00:39:32.360 be humble and
00:39:33.020 let's be calm
00:39:33.660 and let's
00:39:34.060 hold it together.
00:39:35.500 What did Neil
00:39:35.880 Armstrong do
00:39:36.660 with his life
00:39:40.140 after the moon?
00:39:41.280 I had dinner
00:39:42.760 or I had
00:39:43.780 lunch with
00:39:44.580 Buzz Aldrin
00:39:47.000 and I brought
00:39:48.420 my dad because
00:39:49.260 I thought,
00:39:50.000 how cool is
00:39:51.300 this that my
00:39:51.980 dad can come
00:39:52.880 with me to
00:39:53.240 have lunch
00:39:53.760 with Buzz
00:39:54.260 Aldrin? 0.85
00:39:55.340 And we sat
00:39:56.840 there and I
00:39:57.700 have to tell
00:39:58.220 you,
00:39:58.620 it was the
00:39:59.500 saddest,
00:40:00.820 it was the
00:40:02.620 saddest thing
00:40:03.320 I've ever seen
00:40:04.540 because he
00:40:05.880 talked about,
00:40:06.480 you know,
00:40:06.700 his alcoholism
00:40:07.560 and everything
00:40:07.900 else.
00:40:08.960 He got back
00:40:11.360 and he was
00:40:13.380 just a guy
00:40:13.800 who went
00:40:14.160 on tour
00:40:14.660 to try
00:40:15.320 to raise
00:40:15.680 money and
00:40:16.160 awareness for
00:40:16.780 NASA and
00:40:17.620 keep things
00:40:18.240 going.
00:40:19.000 He's obviously
00:40:20.120 really accomplished,
00:40:21.380 very, very
00:40:22.000 bright, but how
00:40:23.600 do you beat
00:40:24.580 going to the
00:40:26.080 moon?
00:40:27.460 And he
00:40:27.840 couldn't let
00:40:29.900 that moment
00:40:30.720 go.
00:40:31.140 I don't know
00:40:31.460 if I could,
00:40:32.500 but he couldn't
00:40:33.280 let that moment
00:40:33.940 go.
00:40:35.000 He's very
00:40:36.040 different than
00:40:36.640 Neil Armstrong.
00:40:37.680 What happened
00:40:38.420 with Neil
00:40:38.860 Armstrong?
00:40:39.880 Yeah,
00:40:40.220 Neil Armstrong
00:40:40.600 was a different
00:40:41.120 guy.
00:40:41.400 You know,
00:40:41.540 they picked
00:40:41.880 Neil Armstrong
00:40:42.340 instead of
00:40:42.940 Buzz Aldrin.
00:40:43.660 They had this
00:40:44.000 moment where
00:40:44.280 they had to
00:40:44.480 pick who's
00:40:44.900 the first
00:40:45.280 one out.
00:40:46.200 That's a
00:40:46.580 choice.
00:40:47.080 It's not
00:40:47.380 just who
00:40:47.680 gets to
00:40:47.980 the door.
00:40:48.740 It was a
00:40:49.400 clearly
00:40:49.980 calculated
00:40:51.060 plan and
00:40:52.380 they picked
00:40:52.860 Neil Armstrong
00:40:53.340 to be the
00:40:53.900 first one as
00:40:54.460 opposed to
00:40:54.880 Buzz Aldrin.
00:40:55.440 Buzz obviously
00:40:56.700 campaigned and
00:40:57.340 wanted to be
00:40:57.780 out there.
00:40:58.620 He was not
00:40:59.160 chosen.
00:40:59.600 They picked
00:40:59.780 Neil Armstrong
00:41:00.100 because of
00:41:00.700 his humility,
00:41:01.880 because he
00:41:02.360 was the guy
00:41:02.820 who wasn't
00:41:03.260 going to put
00:41:03.600 his face on
00:41:04.680 a t-shirt and
00:41:08.420 go back to
00:41:09.040 Ohio and
00:41:10.420 be fine with
00:41:11.260 the achievement.
00:41:12.420 And, you
00:41:12.820 know, I think
00:41:13.740 the best way
00:41:14.520 you can always
00:41:14.880 show someone's
00:41:15.460 character is
00:41:15.940 look at their
00:41:16.300 childhood.
00:41:16.780 Neil Armstrong,
00:41:17.400 when he was
00:41:17.660 eight years old,
00:41:19.040 the thing he
00:41:19.520 wanted to do
00:41:19.940 more than
00:41:20.220 anything else,
00:41:21.160 he wanted to
00:41:21.600 climb this
00:41:22.080 big maple
00:41:22.680 tree in his
00:41:23.160 backyard.
00:41:24.220 And when you
00:41:24.600 climb a tree,
00:41:26.000 you've got to
00:41:26.460 make a plan.
00:41:27.240 It's a puzzle,
00:41:27.820 right?
00:41:27.960 You grab one
00:41:28.520 branch and
00:41:28.960 then you've
00:41:29.240 got to grab
00:41:29.540 this branch.
00:41:30.680 And as he's
00:41:31.420 grabbing one
00:41:32.000 of the dead
00:41:32.420 branches, the
00:41:33.360 branch snaps.
00:41:34.940 And Neil Armstrong
00:41:35.480 falls 15 feet,
00:41:37.460 lands flat on
00:41:38.240 his back, has
00:41:38.860 the wind knocked
00:41:39.400 out of him.
00:41:39.740 His sister
00:41:40.120 comes running
00:41:40.580 over, says,
00:41:41.540 are you okay?
00:41:42.120 She goes and
00:41:42.520 grabs their
00:41:42.920 mother.
00:41:44.020 The most
00:41:44.580 important thing,
00:41:45.760 and this is the
00:41:46.460 opening of I Am
00:41:47.080 Neil Armstrong,
00:41:47.620 the children's
00:41:48.060 book, is this
00:41:48.580 moment.
00:41:49.220 I teach my
00:41:49.740 kids the most
00:41:50.100 important thing
00:41:50.660 that Neil
00:41:50.980 Armstrong does
00:41:51.640 after that
00:41:52.120 moment is he
00:41:53.260 gets back up
00:41:53.860 again.
00:41:54.680 He gets a
00:41:55.240 job mowing
00:41:55.940 grass in a
00:41:56.620 cemetery because
00:41:57.340 he wants to
00:41:57.840 fly.
00:41:58.700 He buys toy
00:41:59.300 planes, saves
00:41:59.940 his money.
00:42:00.740 Then he saves
00:42:01.460 up for a
00:42:01.900 pilot's license.
00:42:02.740 He gets his
00:42:03.040 pilot's license.
00:42:03.840 He's a
00:42:04.080 teenager before he
00:42:05.100 gets his
00:42:05.400 driver's license.
00:42:06.120 He becomes a
00:42:06.640 test pilot, of
00:42:07.340 course, an
00:42:07.660 astronaut.
00:42:08.520 We all today
00:42:09.160 celebrate that
00:42:10.440 giant leap for
00:42:11.180 all mankind
00:42:11.900 that Neil Armstrong
00:42:12.880 took, but we
00:42:14.040 need to teach
00:42:14.700 our kids that
00:42:16.000 you don't get to
00:42:16.640 take the giant
00:42:17.320 leap until you
00:42:18.600 take the
00:42:19.100 thousands of
00:42:19.880 smaller steps
00:42:20.560 before.
00:42:20.960 We've got to
00:42:21.200 teach our kids
00:42:21.680 what hard work
00:42:22.280 really means
00:42:22.800 again.
00:42:23.520 That, to me,
00:42:23.960 is what this
00:42:24.300 children's book
00:42:24.780 stands for.
00:42:25.800 I think it
00:42:26.340 shows, to
00:42:26.920 answer your
00:42:27.320 question, and
00:42:29.140 how Neil
00:42:29.680 Armstrong was able
00:42:30.580 to deal with
00:42:31.100 it.
00:42:31.600 He was built
00:42:32.480 from that
00:42:33.020 solid American
00:42:34.020 value system
00:42:35.020 that let him
00:42:35.900 say, I am
00:42:36.480 not my
00:42:36.900 achievement.
00:42:37.500 I'm just a
00:42:38.080 man.
00:42:39.040 That's why he
00:42:39.720 was fine.
00:42:40.580 Brad Meltzer,
00:42:41.100 thank you so
00:42:41.600 much.
00:42:42.060 I am Neil
00:42:42.720 Armstrong.
00:42:43.240 It's available
00:42:43.680 at bookstores
00:42:44.180 everywhere.
00:42:49.460 You're
00:42:49.860 listening to
00:42:50.460 the best of
00:42:51.060 the Glenn Beck
00:42:51.580 program.
00:43:05.900 Matt Walsh is
00:43:12.640 a great, great
00:43:15.740 writer, and
00:43:17.300 somebody who
00:43:18.160 really sees
00:43:19.460 the world and
00:43:21.000 refuses to go
00:43:22.040 down the path
00:43:22.740 of insanity.
00:43:24.280 He wrote for
00:43:25.240 many years for
00:43:25.840 The Blaze.
00:43:26.360 He's now with
00:43:26.800 The Daily Wire.
00:43:28.020 I've been
00:43:28.400 following his
00:43:29.080 work on what's
00:43:30.160 happening with
00:43:30.580 the Catholic
00:43:30.980 Church because
00:43:31.660 he's Catholic,
00:43:32.640 and I'd like to
00:43:33.720 get somebody's
00:43:34.420 opinion, who
00:43:35.140 doesn't have an
00:43:35.780 axe to grind
00:43:36.500 with religion or
00:43:38.380 the Catholic
00:43:38.800 Church.
00:43:39.340 So, Matt,
00:43:39.900 welcome to the
00:43:40.340 program.
00:43:40.680 How are you?
00:43:42.160 Hey, Glenn.
00:43:42.640 Thanks for having
00:43:43.100 me.
00:43:43.580 So, can you
00:43:45.000 tell me what
00:43:46.240 the hell
00:43:46.800 happened with
00:43:47.940 the Pope
00:43:48.240 yesterday?
00:43:48.740 Well, there's
00:43:54.580 a few things
00:43:55.280 going on, but
00:43:55.960 I think the
00:43:56.740 thing that's
00:43:57.000 caught a lot
00:43:57.260 of people's
00:43:57.540 eyes here in
00:43:58.480 the United
00:43:59.280 States is
00:44:00.700 that he got
00:44:01.700 up and said
00:44:03.040 that Satan is
00:44:04.580 at work in the
00:44:05.340 Church, which I
00:44:06.100 agree with that
00:44:06.920 part of it, but
00:44:08.080 he said that
00:44:08.960 Satan is at
00:44:09.780 work amongst
00:44:10.500 the accusers.
00:44:12.100 Satan is the
00:44:12.540 great accuser,
00:44:13.940 and he is, you
00:44:15.480 know, victimizing
00:44:16.460 the poor
00:44:16.820 bishops, through
00:44:18.320 I guess, he
00:44:19.260 didn't specify
00:44:19.920 any more than
00:44:20.520 that, but I
00:44:21.400 guess he's
00:44:21.840 saying that the
00:44:23.060 people that are
00:44:23.500 accusing the
00:44:24.000 bishops are
00:44:24.540 Satan, and
00:44:25.480 also the
00:44:27.620 faithful Catholics
00:44:28.380 who are demanding
00:44:29.020 answers.
00:44:29.520 I guess we are
00:44:30.040 also in league
00:44:31.180 with Satan.
00:44:31.820 That appears to
00:44:32.440 be what the
00:44:33.020 Pope is
00:44:33.500 insinuating, and
00:44:35.000 I find it
00:44:35.480 absolutely horrific.
00:44:37.880 Tell me a
00:44:38.700 little bit about
00:44:39.280 the scandal in
00:44:41.440 Pennsylvania, because
00:44:42.800 depending on who
00:44:44.320 you're listening
00:44:44.920 to, I
00:44:46.460 I don't know
00:44:47.080 who to believe.
00:44:48.180 You know, you
00:44:48.840 listen to the
00:44:50.580 New York Times,
00:44:51.860 and their spin
00:44:52.680 is, yes, these
00:44:54.040 things happened,
00:44:55.180 but most of
00:44:56.000 them happened a
00:44:56.700 long time ago,
00:44:58.220 and while the
00:45:01.460 Pope was
00:45:02.560 involved a
00:45:03.400 little bit, it's
00:45:04.620 more on the
00:45:05.160 fringes, and
00:45:05.800 this is only
00:45:06.440 being brought
00:45:07.020 up because this
00:45:08.940 is a war between
00:45:09.940 the people who
00:45:11.160 want a more
00:45:11.920 traditional church
00:45:13.700 and the people
00:45:16.020 who agree with
00:45:16.700 Francis.
00:45:18.420 Yeah, it's a
00:45:19.100 very weird thing
00:45:20.140 for, you know,
00:45:22.160 traditional, quote
00:45:23.060 unquote, traditional
00:45:23.600 Catholics like 0.98
00:45:24.080 myself.
00:45:24.360 It's a weird
00:45:24.700 thing to see the
00:45:25.280 media all of a
00:45:26.020 sudden circling the
00:45:27.320 wagons around the
00:45:28.140 Vatican.
00:45:28.820 It's just that we've
00:45:29.600 never seen anything
00:45:30.380 like this, because
00:45:31.000 usually they're very
00:45:32.640 eager to blame the
00:45:35.340 Vatican for anything.
00:45:36.060 But, so, in
00:45:37.560 Pennsylvania, you
00:45:39.600 do have, you
00:45:40.340 know, you have
00:45:40.500 the grand jury
00:45:40.980 report from about
00:45:41.960 a month ago, I
00:45:42.480 guess now, which
00:45:43.780 talks about abuses
00:45:45.680 among priests and
00:45:47.700 also cover-ups by
00:45:48.860 bishops, and that
00:45:49.900 dates back, you
00:45:50.480 know, it goes back
00:45:51.080 I think 50 or 60
00:45:52.040 years, and a good
00:45:54.400 percentage of those
00:45:55.920 abuses were, you
00:45:58.380 know, 20 years or
00:46:00.160 more older.
00:46:02.480 And so I guess some
00:46:03.500 apologists are now
00:46:04.480 using that as a
00:46:05.420 reason to say,
00:46:05.840 well, this problem
00:46:07.080 has been contained
00:46:07.860 since then, so
00:46:09.040 this is old news.
00:46:10.600 And maybe they
00:46:11.640 could get away with
00:46:12.880 that, maybe they
00:46:13.540 could get away with
00:46:13.980 that excuse, if not
00:46:14.900 for the fact that
00:46:16.200 there has been this
00:46:16.880 problem in dioceses
00:46:18.180 across the country,
00:46:19.680 and now they're
00:46:20.100 talking about another
00:46:21.000 investigation in New
00:46:22.340 York, another one in
00:46:23.040 New Jersey.
00:46:24.100 And on top of that,
00:46:24.640 you have two other
00:46:25.220 things as well.
00:46:25.920 You've got Cardinal
00:46:26.500 McCarrick, who were
00:46:28.120 the most prominent
00:46:28.780 cardinal in the
00:46:29.980 United States, who
00:46:31.240 has been, you know,
00:46:32.860 all this information
00:46:33.400 is coming out about
00:46:33.960 him now and his
00:46:34.600 abuse, not just of
00:46:35.340 children, but of
00:46:36.280 seminarians, of
00:46:37.060 young men.
00:46:37.940 And then you've
00:46:38.320 got someone in
00:46:39.160 the Vatican, a
00:46:39.800 high-ranking, former
00:46:40.760 high-ranking
00:46:41.240 official, who wrote
00:46:42.440 an 11-page letter
00:46:43.760 indicting the Pope
00:46:45.020 himself and accusing
00:46:45.780 him personally of
00:46:47.140 covering up.
00:46:47.720 So all of these
00:46:48.740 things together just
00:46:49.580 make it impossible to
00:46:50.900 minimize this or to
00:46:52.620 claim that it's all
00:46:53.300 in the past because
00:46:53.900 it's not.
00:46:54.180 This is right now.
00:46:54.860 These are things
00:46:55.220 happening right now.
00:46:55.760 And what about the
00:46:56.320 claim that this
00:46:57.420 cardinal in the 11-page
00:46:58.720 letter, this guy has
00:46:59.960 been against Francis
00:47:00.980 the whole time and is
00:47:01.860 just using this to try
00:47:03.300 to get to Francis?
00:47:05.020 Well, number one,
00:47:05.780 it's irrelevant.
00:47:06.620 That's just a character
00:47:07.720 assassination.
00:47:08.460 Even if it's true that
00:47:09.680 he's got some kind of
00:47:10.820 axe to grind with Pope
00:47:11.760 Francis, that doesn't
00:47:12.760 mean that he's wrong
00:47:13.680 about what he's saying.
00:47:14.520 The question is, are the
00:47:16.320 accusations true or not?
00:47:18.520 And it's very relevant
00:47:19.880 that of all the men
00:47:21.080 accused by Vigano,
00:47:22.300 Archbishop Vigano,
00:47:23.080 of all the men
00:47:24.060 accused by, none of
00:47:24.940 them have actually
00:47:25.420 denied it, not a single
00:47:26.320 one, including the Pope.
00:47:27.360 But secondly, that's
00:47:28.500 actually not true.
00:47:29.260 This Archbishop Vigano
00:47:31.500 has had a long
00:47:32.340 reputation as someone
00:47:33.900 who is a whistleblower,
00:47:35.840 who stands against
00:47:37.180 corruption, you know,
00:47:38.140 is not afraid to root
00:47:39.360 out corruption.
00:47:39.860 That's what he has.
00:47:40.860 That's what he has a
00:47:42.280 reputation for.
00:47:43.620 He has a reputation
00:47:44.120 for trying to undermine
00:47:45.060 the Pope.
00:47:45.580 This is the first time
00:47:46.280 he's ever done this.
00:47:47.440 You know, the Pope has
00:47:48.420 been there for six or
00:47:49.260 seven years.
00:47:49.780 It's the first time
00:47:50.360 Vigano has come out
00:47:51.780 and said anything like
00:47:52.760 this against the Pope.
00:47:53.960 So I just, I think
00:47:54.640 that accusation is
00:47:55.300 just incorrect.
00:47:55.740 So what does the
00:47:56.480 average Catholic do now?
00:47:59.640 What are they thinking?
00:48:02.960 You know, that's a
00:48:03.600 million-dollar question.
00:48:04.560 And there are a lot
00:48:05.360 of Catholics who, you
00:48:06.360 know, I hear from a lot
00:48:06.960 of Catholics, and you
00:48:07.600 talk to a lot of Catholics
00:48:08.240 personally, and many of
00:48:09.680 them are on the edge of
00:48:11.380 or over the edge of
00:48:12.520 despair at this point
00:48:13.500 because they just look
00:48:15.700 at the Church and they
00:48:16.500 think, well, I think
00:48:18.300 for a lot of, especially
00:48:19.060 for a lot of devout
00:48:20.600 Catholics, I'm talking
00:48:21.280 about the ones who
00:48:21.700 really care about their
00:48:22.380 faith and go to church
00:48:23.160 and really try to live
00:48:23.880 according to it.
00:48:24.820 The thing is, it's not
00:48:25.480 easy to live according
00:48:28.100 to the teachings of
00:48:28.920 the Church.
00:48:29.580 A lot is asked of us,
00:48:30.980 and I think rightfully
00:48:31.700 so.
00:48:32.380 But then when we look
00:48:33.200 and, you know, we're
00:48:33.900 trying so hard to live
00:48:34.980 according to these
00:48:35.480 teachings and making
00:48:36.080 all the sacrifices
00:48:36.660 necessary, and then we
00:48:37.860 look and we see that
00:48:38.900 the people running the
00:48:40.000 Church don't apparently 0.76
00:48:40.700 even care about these
00:48:41.460 teachings at all, it's
00:48:43.700 very deflating.
00:48:44.580 But what I would say,
00:48:45.780 you know, as a
00:48:46.220 Catholic, you know, I'm
00:48:47.120 not leaving the Church
00:48:47.860 over this.
00:48:48.600 I think either you
00:48:50.280 believe that the
00:48:51.620 Catholic Church is the
00:48:53.240 true faith and you
00:48:54.140 believe that it has a
00:48:54.960 historical claim to
00:48:56.000 being the true Church
00:48:57.300 or not.
00:48:58.300 And if you don't
00:48:59.380 believe that, then I
00:49:00.260 guess you're not
00:49:01.000 Catholic, you shouldn't 1.00
00:49:01.480 be Catholic.
00:49:01.900 But if you do believe
00:49:02.580 that, then I think
00:49:03.880 these scandals, as awful
00:49:04.900 as they are, they
00:49:05.540 don't change that,
00:49:07.320 don't change that
00:49:08.080 simple thing.
00:49:08.580 All they mean, and we
00:49:09.560 should keep in mind as
00:49:10.220 Christians, that look, I
00:49:11.540 mean, Jesus Christ
00:49:12.780 chose twelve apostles,
00:49:14.400 one denied them, one
00:49:15.480 betrayed them, only one
00:49:16.640 was there with them at
00:49:17.580 the cross on Calvary.
00:49:19.040 So there's a long
00:49:21.200 precedent of this kind
00:49:22.660 of treachery going all
00:49:24.180 the way back to the
00:49:24.680 very beginning.
00:49:26.500 The Pope, however,
00:49:28.640 being the leader, I
00:49:29.660 mean, when I saw this
00:49:30.820 story break, we were on
00:49:32.780 the air and I said,
00:49:34.000 you know, if I'm the
00:49:35.020 Pope, I get onto the
00:49:36.660 plane today and I hold a
00:49:39.420 press conference in
00:49:40.480 Philadelphia or Pittsburgh
00:49:41.660 and I say, I am here
00:49:43.640 because we take this
00:49:44.840 seriously and the
00:49:46.360 children are the most
00:49:47.680 precious to us.
00:49:48.660 I mean, you want to be
00:49:49.200 Francis, that's what
00:49:50.820 you do, and you hit it
00:49:53.420 straight on.
00:49:54.680 For him to not answer
00:49:58.900 any of the questions
00:50:00.220 and then on top of it
00:50:03.840 to come out later and
00:50:05.280 say, you know, the
00:50:07.040 devil is making people
00:50:08.440 do this is, in my
00:50:11.100 opinion, obscene.
00:50:14.040 It is obscene.
00:50:15.400 I mean, there's, you
00:50:16.820 know, you could use a
00:50:17.400 lot of different words
00:50:17.880 to describe it.
00:50:19.080 I think that the Pope's
00:50:20.260 behavior throughout this
00:50:21.600 entire scandal and
00:50:22.860 apparently going back,
00:50:23.840 you know, through his
00:50:24.460 entire papacy, according
00:50:25.440 to Vigano, his behavior
00:50:26.800 has been cowardly. 0.88
00:50:28.520 It's been despicable.
00:50:30.760 I mean, like I said,
00:50:31.700 it's just, and it, for,
00:50:33.400 again, for a devout
00:50:34.100 Catholic to say those
00:50:35.000 kinds of things about
00:50:35.640 the Pope, I mean, I
00:50:36.540 don't say that kind of
00:50:37.140 stuff lightly.
00:50:37.840 I mean, I would say that
00:50:38.700 lightly maybe about a
00:50:39.420 politician, but I don't
00:50:40.720 say it lightly about the
00:50:41.560 Pope because I do have
00:50:43.400 so much obvious respect
00:50:44.980 for the office of the
00:50:46.620 Pope, but because of
00:50:47.920 that, and I see what this
00:50:49.420 man is doing to that
00:50:50.540 office and how, in my
00:50:52.040 opinion, he's acting in
00:50:54.000 ways that are
00:50:55.120 disgraceful.
00:50:56.280 I think we have no
00:50:56.940 choice but, as Catholics,
00:50:58.080 but to stand up and say
00:50:59.200 that.
00:50:59.660 So what does that
00:51:00.280 mean?
00:51:01.920 Is there a chance this
00:51:03.200 Pope is removed from
00:51:05.000 office or leaves office
00:51:07.540 because of this?
00:51:08.780 As far as I know, there's
00:51:10.880 not any way to actually
00:51:12.640 remove a Pope because
00:51:13.920 he's not a president and
00:51:15.100 he can't really be impeached
00:51:16.820 as far as I know.
00:51:20.020 However, I do think that
00:51:21.820 bishops and cardinals and
00:51:23.460 the laity, if they were to
00:51:25.380 stand up in essentially one
00:51:27.020 voice and say there need to
00:51:28.660 be big changes, this Pope has
00:51:30.440 failed us, he needs to step
00:51:32.500 down, I think if that pressure
00:51:34.420 was put on and there were
00:51:37.360 enough people saying that and
00:51:38.420 being consistent in their
00:51:40.000 outcry, I think maybe this
00:51:42.240 Pope could be, let's say,
00:51:43.540 encouraged to step down.
00:51:45.700 But, and I think, I hope
00:51:47.120 that will happen, I think it
00:51:48.060 should.
00:51:48.600 I don't think it will,
00:51:49.580 though, because this Pope has
00:51:51.220 obviously shown what his
00:51:52.100 strategy is going to be, and
00:51:53.060 that's going to be, number
00:51:53.680 one, to ignore the charges
00:51:55.300 that are specifically against
00:51:56.220 him, he said nothing about
00:51:57.120 them, and then number two,
00:51:58.480 to recast the entire thing
00:52:00.060 as, you know, essentially
00:52:02.040 making the bishops into
00:52:03.380 victims.
00:52:04.420 And in order to get past
00:52:05.580 that, what would be needed
00:52:06.760 is, you know, the laity,
00:52:08.420 we need to stay focused on
00:52:09.860 this issue, even as the
00:52:12.280 media forgets about it
00:52:13.900 and disregards it, and as
00:52:14.960 Pope doesn't address it, we
00:52:16.160 would have to stay focused.
00:52:17.460 But unfortunately, in, you
00:52:18.720 know, modern society, it's
00:52:20.140 hard to keep people focused
00:52:21.480 and concentrated on one
00:52:22.460 issue for very long.
00:52:23.640 So I'm afraid that, like, a 0.96
00:52:24.900 month from now, nobody's
00:52:25.960 going to be talking about
00:52:26.540 this anymore, and the
00:52:27.900 Pope will have just
00:52:28.440 essentially gotten away
00:52:29.220 with it.
00:52:29.480 That's what I'm afraid is
00:52:30.160 going to happen.
00:52:30.520 Matt, this guy has not
00:52:32.760 been, you know, traditional,
00:52:34.880 and he's, you know, he's
00:52:36.280 done a lot of things that a
00:52:37.960 lot of Catholics or 0.92
00:52:38.820 traditionalists would say.
00:52:40.500 Okay, that's really weird.
00:52:42.340 This is in a totally
00:52:43.540 different category.
00:52:44.580 Would you have ever
00:52:45.160 expected this Pope to react
00:52:47.360 this way to a scandal this
00:52:49.660 big?
00:52:51.700 No, I didn't.
00:52:52.800 Although now that I see him
00:52:54.320 acting this way, I see that
00:52:55.340 there are plenty of reasons,
00:52:56.300 there's plenty of precedent
00:52:57.180 for it, because this is
00:52:58.860 actually, there's been this
00:53:00.420 pattern, maybe not with
00:53:02.040 scandals up until now, but
00:53:04.780 where he'll say something
00:53:06.000 or issue some kind of
00:53:07.440 proclamation or write
00:53:09.180 something that's very
00:53:09.920 confusing to conservative
00:53:10.960 Catholics, and we're
00:53:11.620 thinking, wait, is he
00:53:12.300 contradicting Catholic 0.94
00:53:13.360 teaching?
00:53:13.680 What's going on here?
00:53:14.840 And then he's asked to
00:53:15.540 clarify, and he just
00:53:16.200 refuses to.
00:53:16.900 He's been doing that for
00:53:17.580 the last six years.
00:53:18.860 So now he's just taking
00:53:19.960 that strategy and applying
00:53:20.960 it to this.
00:53:21.540 But no, I didn't, when
00:53:22.380 these allegations came out
00:53:24.340 against him personally, I
00:53:25.760 really did not, I honestly
00:53:27.480 thought that he was at
00:53:28.700 least say something within
00:53:30.400 the first couple of days.
00:53:31.400 The fact that he said
00:53:32.020 nothing is to me, I mean,
00:53:33.760 it's really shocking to
00:53:34.800 me, and as I said, I find
00:53:36.680 it utterly, completely
00:53:38.500 disgraceful.
00:53:39.120 I mean, for him to take
00:53:40.300 the name of Francis, I
00:53:42.260 don't think this is the
00:53:43.260 way St. Francis would
00:53:44.320 have dealt with it.
00:53:46.400 No, certainly not.
00:53:47.460 And this is, I mean, this
00:53:48.140 is not how any, Pope or
00:53:50.460 not, this is not how any
00:53:51.480 Christian should respond.
00:53:53.700 And I, you know, there
00:53:54.420 are some people that have
00:53:55.000 made excuses for the Pope
00:53:56.040 saying, well, when Jesus
00:53:57.160 was accused, he didn't say
00:53:59.440 anything, you know, when
00:54:00.400 Herod accused, when we
00:54:01.500 were just talking to
00:54:01.960 Herod, Jesus refused to 0.98
00:54:03.240 respond.
00:54:03.920 But this is not the same
00:54:04.820 thing.
00:54:05.180 And the problem, when Jesus
00:54:07.100 refused to answer
00:54:08.160 accusations against him,
00:54:09.580 the reason why, in those
00:54:11.220 cases, why he refused, is
00:54:12.880 because the accusations
00:54:13.960 were disingenuous.
00:54:15.420 They were made in bad
00:54:16.200 faith.
00:54:16.880 The people that were
00:54:17.380 saying it didn't really
00:54:18.180 mean it, didn't really
00:54:18.780 care, they were just
00:54:19.460 looking for an excuse to
00:54:20.760 crucify him, and Jesus 0.99
00:54:21.480 knew that, so he wasn't
00:54:22.220 going to entertain it or
00:54:23.400 humor it.
00:54:24.120 That's why Jesus remained 0.85
00:54:25.120 silent.
00:54:25.460 That's not the case
00:54:26.460 here.
00:54:26.820 People are, there's
00:54:27.740 actually real scandal
00:54:28.840 going on.
00:54:29.720 People are legitimately
00:54:30.580 distressed and in despair
00:54:32.320 over it, and they want
00:54:33.700 some leadership and they
00:54:34.520 want answers.
00:54:35.640 And so for the Pope to
00:54:36.560 look at those people and
00:54:37.740 treat them like we're all
00:54:38.500 a bunch of Herods is, I
00:54:41.220 mean, it's unthinkable.
00:54:42.760 Matt Walsh, thank you
