The Glenn Beck Program - Best of the Program ｜ Guest： Dr. Peter Boghossian ｜ 1⧸23⧸19

00:00:00.000 Hey, podcasters. It's Wednesday. Got a great podcast for you. Dr. Peter Boghossian was with

00:00:06.480 us today. He's an amazingly brave man. He's up at Portland State University, and they are coming

00:00:13.700 after him because he tried to out the scientific community and saying, your religion, your peer

00:00:21.940 reviewed system is broken. He and a couple of other colleagues, now he's under attack,

00:00:27.380 had a fascinating conversation with him coming in just a few minutes. Also, who are the black

00:00:32.120 Hebrew Israelites? Who are the people that were actually up there and at the Lincoln Memorial

00:00:39.860 talking to the Covington school kids? And I want to say talking, I mean, basically screaming

00:00:46.040 epithets at them. Yes. And this is a part of the kind of research we've been working on this week.

00:00:50.340 And again, thank you for making it possible. When you subscribe to blazedv.com slash Beck,

00:00:55.000 you can use the promo code Beck, by the way, to save some money. And when you do that,

00:00:58.400 you're helping fund that research and make that research possible so we can take people off of

00:01:02.840 other projects and do all sorts of things to make sure we dig to the bottom of stories just like

00:01:06.720 this. And you've heard the research this week going through the entire timeline of what happened

00:01:11.640 at Covington, the people who were behind it, the research behind the Native American activists who no

00:01:16.560 one was looking into, the research into the group, the black Israelites who were insulting the kids.

00:01:23.400 All that's come this week. And again, thank you for making it possible.

00:01:26.880 So here is today's podcast.

00:01:36.600 You're listening to the best of the Glenn Beck program.

00:01:40.540 Let me tell you about home title lock. Home title lock is something that I didn't even know you had

00:01:50.180 to protect. You know, you think the bank has your title. No, it's actually kept in a vault,

00:01:55.400 really one digital vault in the in the whole country has has all of the titles. And when they're

00:02:01.600 called for, they come out of the digital vault, and they go out and then they are changed and then

00:02:06.280 they come back in. Well, home title lock is the company that is standing at that vault door.

00:02:11.760 They're the guards. They're the only ones that have access at that point. So if they're watching

00:02:17.640 your title, nobody can come in and steal it. Because once it leaves the vault to be changed,

00:02:22.940 they say, wait a minute, hang on. They call you. Did you sell your house? You changing the title?

00:02:28.800 Nope. They hold that title and say, there's fraud going on. Nobody else does this. Get your

00:02:34.520 hundred dollars search for free to see if somebody has already taken advantage of your title at

00:02:39.680 home title lock.com. I have it. Stu has it. We all do. We believe in it. Home title lock.com.

00:02:44.940 I felt this was an important story on the Covington Catholic School since the moment I saw it.

00:02:54.940 But there are things about this that stand out. First, I think we're all disappointed at how fast

00:03:02.880 everybody jumped on the bandwagon to bash this kid. But in a society of virtue signaling, you can kind

00:03:12.700 of understand. But I was disappointed with how fast moderates and conservatives and the Catholic 0.92

00:03:19.580 Church itself jumped immediately to attack this kid. That's a really bad sign. And I think it's a

00:03:28.940 result of an entire generation of virtue signaling. It's not good. We collectively have no chance against

00:03:38.180 future mobs if our own will turn on their own just to virtue signal. You have no chance. If no one

00:03:50.300 will give you the benefit of the doubt without hearing the evidence, we have no chance. I also think

00:03:58.360 what sets this apart, this is the first time, not really evident to the average person.

00:04:12.420 This is the first time that the media has full on, knowingly, lied to perpetuate a story.

00:04:20.780 And I don't mean knowingly, they knowing, us. Usually, there's some shadow of a doubt. Usually,

00:04:28.620 there's some reason. Usually, there's something. We've all heard stories. And there's always something

00:04:34.280 you're like, there's this nagging feeling. Well, yeah, but maybe. I'm not really sure. So you stand up

00:04:41.900 and support what you think. But you could be pushed down. Because there's always some piece that seems to be

00:04:50.480 missing. This is the first time I have seen one, that the facts of the story were always there. The evidence that the

00:04:58.740 story was wrong was out about as early as the story itself. And the media knew on this one. They knew. They saw this as an

00:05:09.560 opportunity. Whether it happened like that or not, didn't matter.

00:05:18.820 But something's changing.

00:05:22.200 This is, this is the Kavanaugh story. We asked ourselves, are we going to learn from this? Nope. We

00:05:29.560 said, what happens when this is your son or daughter? Remember? What happens when this, well, this is

00:05:35.860 someone's son. This is a minor. This isn't Kavanaugh, who did something 40 years ago that none of us

00:05:46.020 could prove. See, with Kavanaugh, we still had to go with our gut and our common sense. And some people's

00:05:53.340 gut went the other way. Some people said, no, you know what? I just believe her. And it kind of fell

00:06:00.260 down on party lines, but not universally so. Anyone honest could come to a different conclusion.

00:06:10.720 On this one? No. There's no way. So this is Kavanaugh on steroids.

00:06:18.720 Yeah, because you think if we happen to have 40 different viewpoints of the entire party that

00:06:24.780 supposedly happened that Kavanaugh was at, it would have been easy to decipher what actually

00:06:29.080 occurred. Right? Here, we have 40 cameras, and they still can't seem to figure it out. It almost

00:06:35.160 hints at some dishonesty. Almost. I just, I know I'm reaching there. Right. But it almost seems like

00:06:41.800 they're just fitting this to their narrative, no matter the cost to this poor 16-year-old kid.

00:06:45.740 So here's the thing. The media knew on this one. They saw this as just an opportunity.

00:06:53.760 Whether it happened like the way they said or not, it didn't matter. There's more disturbing

00:06:59.160 stuff about that I'll get to in a second. This is also the first time the mob of millions has gone

00:07:05.200 after a child. Now, let me say this. Do you remember just last week, there was this picture

00:07:11.440 of a naked trans man standing next to a trans child that has been performing in strip clubs.

00:07:21.800 No one in the media had anything to say about that behavior or their parents. No one said anything.

00:07:32.080 But a kid smiling. Apparently, we can read the mind of that kid. The kid smiling, even though

00:07:40.580 the, all of the two hours of video evidence show that's not what was happening there.

00:07:48.820 That was unacceptable to the media. That they had to preach.

00:07:55.220 We've never gone after some kid. Especially, we've never, the mob never attacked some kid,

00:08:01.500 especially just for smiling. If I give the left the grace of trying to frame their point of view

00:08:09.300 in my mind, the most harsh charge I can come up with is that he smiled at someone. And then the rest of

00:08:16.740 it, you just have to fill in the blanks. Even if you did smile at someone, is that enough to destroy

00:08:24.980 him? To say you wanted to push him into a wood chipper? To offer free oral sex to anyone who will 0.99

00:08:33.580 punch him in the face? To offer signed copies of my, all of my albums? If somebody will just beat 1.00

00:08:41.980 him up? Is it enough? That's smiling? Are you comfortable with your child smiling? Could be innocent.

00:08:51.900 Might not be. For the millions of Americans to take a picture of your child, interpret it any way they

00:09:01.220 wanted, true or not, and then target your child for death? This is an attempt to destroy an innocent

00:09:12.260 person. This is an attempt to destroy an innocent child and intimidate anyone who won't go along with

00:09:24.900 the mob. This isn't the first time. But it's, it's recent then, even after the evidence, the hard left

00:09:35.720 Hollywood and others aren't budging. They will not accept the fact this is new. In my opinion on this,

00:09:43.560 this is new. Usually the hard, hard left will not accept the fact, but they cannot convince half of the

00:09:51.980 country. When the evidence is clear and people have made a mistake, usually they say, oh, I'm sorry,

00:09:58.760 made a mistake. That's not what's happening here. What's happening here is really disturbing.

00:10:05.340 Is the media and social media jumped on it. Just like, just like they did with the Obama picture,

00:10:12.600 I'm sorry, of the, uh, the jail pictures of the kids. Okay. They jumped on that. Then they immediately

00:10:19.640 apologized, but what did they learn from that? Wait, don't apologize. Let's, we're wrong about this,

00:10:28.080 but we're actually right about it because it's still going on. So here the media and social media

00:10:36.500 and the left have said, he's a horrible monster. Oh, the evidence shows he's not a horrible monster. 0.81

00:10:44.000 Well, I'm sure he's a horrible monster some way or another. Let's get them. And so now they're going

00:10:52.360 to find any way they can to prove that they may have, they weren't wrong on Friday. They just weren't

00:10:59.860 right about it. In that instance, he is a horrible monster. This school is a horrible place. 1.00

00:11:08.100 We know it. And how do we know it? He was wearing a hat.

00:11:11.540 Yeah.

00:11:14.000 You know, Martin Luther King on, on, on last Monday was the anniversary of Martin Luther King

00:11:19.780 saying, don't judge me by the color of my skin, but by the content of my character. Now it's not

00:11:27.820 even skin color. It's a hat color. Don't judge me by the color of my hat, but by the content of my

00:11:37.060 character. On the same day, Martin Luther King, Martin Luther King day, just a few steps

00:11:43.940 away from where he made that dream, where he proclaimed that dream and spoke it into possibility

00:11:51.720 possibility of existence. They're not even judging on skin color.

00:11:56.920 At best, this is the best example of widespread hate speech and active threats of harm delivered

00:12:08.960 over Twitter and Facebook, where the companies refuse to police people I've seen. You could

00:12:16.200 say whatever you want about these kids, Facebook and Twitter, they don't care. How many people

00:12:21.880 would they have to ban if they had to enforce this? I believe they realize that if they actually

00:12:29.080 police the left, the left would rise up and strike them back hard. They're not going to take on the

00:12:34.620 left. Look at how much hate, how much vitriol has been preached.

00:12:41.060 One journalist finally got fired. But look what he had to say to get fired, although he also still

00:12:51.060 has a Twitter account. Here it is. I don't know what it says about me, but I've truly lost the ability

00:12:58.460 to articulate the hysterical rage, nausea and heartache this makes me feel. I just want these

00:13:04.440 people to die. Simple as that. Every single one of them die and their parents. Now this guy lost his 1.00

00:13:12.960 job, but the Twitter account remains. We saw something else with this story. It's like if you took the

00:13:25.200 intersectionality foundation being built over the last decade and put it in a Petri dish, this story is

00:13:31.300 what it would grow. If you're a woman's march protester, you frame this kid as just another 1.00

00:13:36.880 Kavanaugh, just another rapist in the making. I have seen these hundreds of times online. 0.97

00:13:45.500 The 20-year challenge.

00:13:49.740 Putting that kid side by side with Kavanaugh. If you're a Black Lives Matter supporter,

00:13:55.200 you saw him as a KKK member. Here's Alyssa Milano. The red MAGA hat is the new white hood.

00:14:02.360 Just saw somebody on CNN say, I'm just, I just am triggered by those hats. It's the new hood.

00:14:11.420 Without white boys being able to empathize with other people, humanity will continue to destroy 0.93

00:14:16.240 itself. If you're one of the idiots that think some secret patriarchal cabal is keeping people down, 1.00

00:14:24.840 you see him just as part of the patriarchy. Here's another one. Racism is in boomer death 1.00

00:14:30.560 throws. It will die out with this younger generation. Look at the crap eating grins on all those young

00:14:36.080 white slugs. Faces just perverse pleasure at wielding a false dominion that they've been taught their whole 1.00

00:14:44.120 life was their divine right. Just effing die. If you think millennials don't respect war vets, 0.99

00:14:52.260 and by that I mean leftists who masquerade as if they care about such thing,

00:14:58.140 you had an angle too. If you just hate Trump, the kid was the embodiment of what Trump has done to

00:15:09.160 the country. So the kid doesn't get to just defend himself. He doesn't get to defend what he actually

00:15:18.380 did. I mean, how do you, how do you defend smiling? He has to defend against being a rapist,

00:15:27.180 a Klan member, a conservative, a Trump supporter, a patriarchy member, being a male, being white, 0.99

00:15:34.400 whatever, whatever the hell they want to say.

00:15:36.760 I want to give you a show warning. Some of the stuff that you're going to hear

00:15:50.600 is quite offensive. Listener discretion is advised. I'll tell you when we get into that. It'll be at

00:15:58.300 about five minutes from now. But I want to talk to you a little bit about the Black Hebrew Israelites.

00:16:03.440 The Black Hebrew Israelites are the story. If you are just watching the mainstream media,

00:16:08.160 you have no idea why I'm talking about it. But if you've watched this show, if you've listened to

00:16:12.920 anybody or you've actually watched the video, the long form video of what happened in the mall on

00:16:18.080 Washington, you know who the Black Israelites are. These are just vile, vile people that really were 1.00

00:16:27.000 the cause of most of the problems on Friday. It's like having, um, you know, uh, what's his name?

00:16:34.220 Uh, Reverend, uh, Philips or Phillips, uh, from the, uh, Westboro Baptist church helps at Phelps.

00:16:41.000 That's right. Um, it's like that. It's that bad. Nobody in the media is talking about them.

00:16:47.500 I want to tell you who they are. The path from the founders of the Black Hebrew Israelite movement 0.82

00:16:54.360 in the late 19, uh, late, late 1800s to the group that is verbally abusing people, including the

00:17:02.200 Covington Catholic high school students in Washington last Friday is very complex. There are many different

00:17:07.920 groups and subgroups and offshoots. It would take a week to untangle all of these. I'm going to try to

00:17:13.760 boil them down, but no, I just got a letter from somebody who is a fan of this show and says,

00:17:18.200 look, Glenn, I am part of Black Israelites. That's not our group. And I understand that. And I understand 0.98

00:17:24.020 that religion is a very tangled thing, but I'm going to speak generally here and give you the,

00:17:28.540 the roots of it. And then I'm going to speak specifically about this group that we saw.

00:17:33.820 It all started in 1886 in Chattanooga, Tennessee. Uh, it was started by a former railroad, uh, railroad

00:17:39.840 worker named Frank cherry, and he established the church of the living God, the pillar and ground

00:17:46.720 of truth for all nations. That was the official name of the church. He mixed together all the

00:17:52.520 elements of, um, uh, Judaism and Christianity. And he believed that African Americans were descendants

00:17:59.600 of the original tribes of Israel. He preached that these Israelite ancestors were chased out of

00:18:06.640 Babylon into central and Western Africa, where they were eventually sold into slavery by the

00:18:11.420 Romans. He also preached that Adam and Eve and Jesus were black personally. I don't care. I don't

00:18:18.440 care. I'm going to look for the character of Jesus, not the color of his skin. Cherry also preached that

00:18:23.720 whites were inherently evil and hated by God. Cherry's church formed the template for a ton of 0.99

00:18:32.340 offshoots. Throughout the 1900s, the offshoots developed into three main tracks. There were the

00:18:38.660 black Jews who adopt Jewish rituals, but also believe in Jesus as the Messiah. There are the black 0.99

00:18:45.200 Hebrews who strictly practice traditional Judaism. And then there are the black Israelites. These guys 0.87

00:18:52.320 are nationalistic and the furthest from traditional Judaism and Christianity. This is the group that 0.97

00:18:59.480 harassed the Covington students in DC, um, just last week. Now the group calls itself house of Israel

00:19:08.340 and it evolved from the black nationalist movement in the 1960s and 1970s, which branded Christianity as 0.89

00:19:15.700 a foreign religion imposed by white slave masters on blacks. Now this group is on the extreme edge and 0.77

00:19:24.740 fringe of the black Hebrew Israelite movement, but they see themselves as the radical reformers of

00:19:31.820 Hebrew Israelites across the spectrum who have just all gone astray. Even the notorious Southern 1.00

00:19:38.820 Poverty Law Center characterizes this group as a black supremacist group, placing it on the same level as

00:19:46.480 the Nazis and the white supremacy groups. Why is the press not worried about this group, but they are worried

00:19:54.760 about white nationalists. The current high priest of this wing of the black Hebrew Israelites has

00:20:01.940 prophesied that a vengeful black Jesus is going to come back to earth and he's going to kill all the white 1.00

00:20:11.800 people. That'll be interesting to see. Interesting premise for a movie as well. 1.00

00:20:17.940 That's a movie. It is actually a movie I would like to see. It would be fun. It may be a little

00:20:22.440 sacrilegious, but it would be a fascinating watch. Um, but with that cheery message in mind, small groups

00:20:29.660 of black Hebrew Israelite street preachers called camps station themselves at busy intersections and busy

00:20:36.120 cities like Philadelphia, New York, Baltimore, and Washington DC. And all they do is rail against the

00:20:41.200 white devils, which they believe are descended from a race of beasts spawned, uh, early in the Bible. 0.88

00:20:48.560 In fact, one of the twin brothers of Jacob later called Israel in the old Testament, they also rail 0.97

00:20:54.620 against promiscuous women, uh, African Americans, uh, because, uh, native Africans sold black Israelites 0.98

00:21:03.620 into slavery. Uh, they also rail against Asians. They call for the death of Jews and the death of 0.99

00:21:10.880 homosexuals. You're going to hear a sampling of pretty much all of this here that from a video 1.00

00:21:16.800 taken Friday at the Lincoln Memorial. Now, former member of the black Hebrew Israelites say that they

00:21:22.920 use fear tactics to break down new recruits and brainwash them. Recruits are urged to join camps and

00:21:29.700 verbally assault pedestrians. Now it's easier to go through airport security than it is to visit one of

00:21:36.880 the groups, places of worship. White people cannot go. If you're a person of color, you have to explain 1.00

00:21:44.860 to security why you're visiting and how you heard about the church. You have to square that you're

00:21:49.800 not a cop. You're not a spy. You're not a member of a rival black Israelite group. You then have to

00:21:55.840 swear before the security guards that you're clean, including not have had eaten pork or had sex for the

00:22:01.740 previous 24 hours. They take your phone and photo ID during the service. Then they pat you down. Once

00:22:09.500 you're inside the first door, you have to register your name, address, and phone number. Then you're

00:22:14.600 handed a Bible. If you make it that far, a disciple then pours olive oil on your head as a final cleansing

00:22:21.740 ritual. Now you can go to church. Good times. So there's their history. But what is it they believe

00:22:30.400 and stand for? What do they preach on American street corners? Were the things caught on tape

00:22:36.140 during the Covington controversy an aberration or the norm? You be the judge. But I want to warn you

00:22:43.900 what you're about to hear is highly offensive. The vast majority of their stuff cannot even be

00:22:50.580 broadcast on public airwaves. But I get that in one minute.

00:23:00.400 Again, I want to warn you that what you're about to hear is highly offensive. But let me give you

00:23:10.980 a montage of what these guys actually say on the street corners, how, how much they are like,

00:23:20.200 uh, the, um, Westboro Baptist church and they get no press. Listen, they think it's a joke, man. It's not

00:23:30.680 going to be a joke when we got a, we got a sword and it's going across your neck, man. You're going to 0.98

00:23:36.120 get tortured too, man. And by the way, all you so-called white women, you're going to get 1.00

00:23:39.320 brutally raped down here. That's right. You little ugly cave beast. Have your last days of enjoying 1.00

00:23:47.240 America. The Mosas is about to put your ass in slavery. You're going to use us to do it. That's 1.00

00:23:50.920 right. You little red punks. All right. That's according to the Bible. It's about to be, it's about to be 1.00

00:23:56.600 144,000 Nat Turners rose, risen up. All right. That's right. Just going to be, uh, killing so-called white 1.00

00:24:03.540 people, babies included. Okay. That's what they preach. That's who they are. That's what they 1.00

00:24:11.320 were saying in front of the Lincoln Memorial and God bless America. They have a right to say that

00:24:16.480 it's hard, but they've got a right to say that man. They have a right to believe that they do not

00:24:23.140 have a right to do that. It's some of the most racist and bigoted language you will ever hear.

00:24:31.880 However, no one in the press seems to care. Now this, this is not what the anti-fascists and the rest

00:24:41.440 of the militant left has risen up in mass to fight against, is it? If that was a white man saying that,

00:24:50.760 that would be a Nazi. And I know how the press treats Nazis.

00:24:57.580 Please. Where is the, where is the crowd of black clad millennials standing against these guys?

00:25:07.060 And I'm not encouraging them because I think those guys are radicals as well. But the reason why

00:25:11.620 they're not there is because they agree with tear down the system. They agree with a lot of what is

00:25:18.680 being said here. They'll show up to Berkeley. They'll protest Ben Shapiro, but not somebody saying

00:25:26.940 these things. Okay. Well, they're saying this all about white people, right? So it has to be okay. 1.00

00:25:33.040 In today's culture of, of relativism, we can just let it slide. You know, as long as it's directed to

00:25:39.220 white people, I'm sure they're perfectly fine with everyone else.

00:25:46.180 That's right.

00:25:49.600 Dunei. Dunei Kai.

00:25:52.920 That was incorporated into those civil rights acts.

00:25:55.200 Yeah, I'm deaf to you gooks. 1.00

00:25:56.380 Yeah, that's right. 0.96

00:25:57.140 I'm deaf to gooks. 1.00

00:25:57.860 Now I hate, I hate Moabites. 1.00

00:25:59.580 These gooks, these gooks and you damn East Indians. 1.00

00:26:02.040 These gooks and these damn East Indians, they hate every race and creed. 1.00

00:26:09.960 Now, this is the only footage that we could find that didn't have profanity. 1.00

00:26:14.160 I can't include the audio of them slamming other African Americans. 0.93

00:26:18.200 I can't include the video of them slamming Jews or Mexicans because it is so vile and laced with 1.00

00:26:24.880 profanity that I cannot air it on public airwaves.

00:26:28.860 We are editing some of those things down for today's five o'clock and it will come with

00:26:36.520 a very strong warning, but I believe these people need to be exposed and America needs

00:26:43.340 to wake up.

00:26:45.420 You're demonizing the Covington Catholic school kids who were standing up, not against four

00:26:52.700 black men.

00:26:53.860 They were standing up against these guys.

00:27:00.520 In the climate of Me Too, you would think the anti-women stuff would be the final straw, 0.69

00:27:07.160 but I'm sure they've never been hostile to women because otherwise we'd see the women's 1.00

00:27:12.360 march people led by Linda Sarsour, no doubt, holding an anti-black Israelite rally in Washington,

00:27:19.840 D.C., so they must not be anti-women, right? 1.00

00:27:23.720 One of the top three fantasies of women is to get raped. 1.00

00:27:27.080 Who are you? 1.00

00:27:29.000 Who do you think you are?

00:27:31.140 Oh my God, I've done research.

00:27:33.500 You know, I've taken causes.

00:27:34.980 Okay, look it up right now.

00:27:36.320 Those are your daughters? 0.99

00:27:37.420 My daughters, yeah.

00:27:38.320 We're going to take your daughters, right? 0.99

00:27:39.740 They're going to be our concubines. 1.00

00:27:40.920 That's right.

00:27:41.640 Hey, somebody might pick you up too.

00:27:43.220 And the women laugh.

00:27:46.180 And the women laugh. 0.99

00:27:49.780 Okay, I'm not going to play any more of this vile crap, but imagine just for a second that 0.99

00:27:55.080 everything you heard was said by a group of white men on the steps of the Capitol wearing 0.99

00:28:01.420 MAGA hats.

00:28:02.820 They wouldn't last five seconds.

00:28:04.960 They wouldn't last ten seconds before Antifa had targeted them.

00:28:14.020 And hundreds of people forced the police to arrest them.

00:28:18.520 Hundreds of videos would begin to pop up on both social media and blasted all over CNN and

00:28:23.440 MSNBC and the New York Times.

00:28:25.420 Take your pick.

00:28:26.460 It would be everywhere.

00:28:28.900 Everywhere.

00:28:31.280 They say they are for justice.

00:28:33.780 The left is not for justice.

00:28:37.460 They are for vengeance.

00:28:39.600 And vengeance is mine, saith the Lord.

00:28:43.680 They are for vengeance.

00:28:47.160 Because they have no problem with these things being said by Louis Farrakhan, by Antifa, by

00:28:55.820 Hollywood celebrities, even in their own ranks as journalists sometimes.

00:29:01.300 I want to put that boy in a wood chipper. 1.00

00:29:04.680 I'd just like to see all of them dead. 1.00

00:29:07.920 That's not justice. 1.00

00:29:10.300 That's rage.

00:29:13.440 We must not engage in rage.

00:29:17.240 It doesn't mean we can't be passionate.

00:29:21.680 But we cannot be filled with rage and anger and want to just shut them up because that's

00:29:28.160 what they want to do.

00:29:29.680 How would you react hearing this on your local street corner?

00:29:37.280 With anger?

00:29:38.340 With fear?

00:29:39.360 Anxiety?

00:29:40.360 Maybe even rage?

00:29:42.860 Nathan Phillips, the professional Native American activist, reacted by using the vile language

00:29:50.100 that was directed at his own Native American people to make a statement, not at those speaking

00:29:56.860 the words, but a bunch of kids who were white, who were wearing a hat that represented a wall

00:30:04.780 that that particular Native American, who his particular tribe say, you know, he oftentimes

00:30:13.240 does things that we don't agree with.

00:30:15.480 He uses tactics that we don't agree with.

00:30:20.380 He instead wanted to direct his rage to those kids who were caught in the middle.

00:30:27.620 The Covington kids reacted with a pep rally.

00:30:30.820 Who do you think were the bigger adults that day?

00:30:35.800 Is there anyone?

00:30:37.560 Is there anyone anymore that has the courage to stand?

00:30:43.360 And the courage to stand with peace?

00:30:45.820 Did you see that teen?

00:30:48.320 Did you see him?

00:30:50.420 Stand up.

00:30:51.540 And appear on the Today Show.

00:30:56.120 You want to talk about courage?

00:30:58.060 I think a little bit of insanity.

00:31:00.400 Show up on the Today Show.

00:31:02.320 Watch the video.

00:31:03.760 He was terrified.

00:31:06.320 Why?

00:31:06.920 Because just like your son, if you don't toe the line, you're not going to college.

00:31:12.900 That kid's not going to college.

00:31:14.620 He's not going to go to college of his choice.

00:31:16.560 He could be a straight A student.

00:31:18.220 He could have perfect, perfect SAT scores.

00:31:24.080 He could be the smartest kid in the world.

00:31:26.920 He's not going to get in the college of his choice if it happens to be an Ivy League school

00:31:32.840 or any of those run by any kind of liberals.

00:31:36.560 Because look at what he did.

00:31:40.000 He smirked.

00:31:42.340 He smirked. 0.97

00:31:44.340 He and his friends were standing against the black Israelites. 0.95

00:31:53.420 And he smirked. 0.96

00:31:55.700 Oh, my gosh.

00:32:02.560 I'm wearing a Covington Catholic School shirt today. 0.91

00:32:07.100 And I'm doing it for solidarity, not for the school or the archdiocese, who I think are cowards.

00:32:15.640 Jesus was nailed to a cross for the truth.

00:32:20.220 You're not willing to stand up to the truth because you're afraid of losing parishioners?

00:32:24.020 You're afraid of losing funding?

00:32:26.640 Do we need to remind you what Jesus did as he was dying, bleeding, mocked on the cross?

00:32:37.320 Still kind of mentioning truth.

00:32:39.360 But if you want to stand with the students of Covington, get your Covington Strong shirt now.

00:32:51.320 Go to the front page of glenbeck.com or shop.theblaze.com.

00:32:57.280 You must stand with these kids.

00:33:00.000 This is a turning point in our history.

00:33:02.680 Which side are you going to choose?

00:33:05.900 This really is black and white.

00:33:08.400 It is black and white.

00:33:10.460 Get your Covington Strong shirt now.

00:33:12.060 glenbeck.com.

00:33:15.680 This is the best of the Glenn Beck program.

00:33:28.920 Hi, it's Glenn.

00:33:38.800 You can subscribe on iTunes.

00:33:40.420 Thanks.

00:33:40.720 Last fall, it was revealed that a trio of researchers had perpetrated what they viewed as an important work that needed to be done.

00:33:59.920 Work that exposed how crazy things had gotten in the peer-reviewed journals and in education to where you couldn't question authority, but you could be published, even if you had crazy ideas, as long as you spoke the right language.

00:34:20.200 It didn't really even have to make sense.

00:34:22.680 You could take things from Hitler. 0.88

00:34:24.480 And if you couch them in the right terms and you were making a point about feminism, you might pretty well get that thing published, peer-reviewed. 1.00

00:34:36.200 Well, the guy who is really responsible for this, really the mastermind behind it, who started it, is Dr. Peter Boghossian.

00:34:48.660 And Dr. Boghossian joins us now.

00:34:52.520 There's more to this story.

00:34:54.680 We covered it in the fall, but now the fallout has happened.

00:34:58.900 He's in trouble with the university, an assistant professor of philosophy at Portland State University, Dr. Peter Boghossian.

00:35:06.280 Dr., how are you?

00:35:07.300 Good to talk to you.

00:35:08.560 Just a quick correction on that.

00:35:10.400 We are all equally a team on this project.

00:35:13.280 And so there was no mastermind of this.

00:35:17.140 We all participated equally.

00:35:19.220 Okay.

00:35:19.480 But you're the only one so far that's in trouble.

00:35:22.540 That's correct.

00:35:23.320 So the university system has authority over me.

00:35:27.080 They exercise dominion over me, whereas James Lindsay does not work in the academy and Helen Pluckrose does not work in the academy.

00:35:33.680 Okay.

00:35:33.900 So I was clearly the most vulnerable of the three.

00:35:37.600 All right.

00:35:37.920 Now, look, I'm sure we don't agree on a hundred million things, but that doesn't that doesn't bother me at all.

00:35:48.020 I look for people who have intellectual integrity.

00:35:53.520 And if you have intellectual integrity and you are married to the truth and, you know, hey, come what may, if I find that to be truth and I need to adopt that, I'm cool with that person.

00:36:05.220 That doesn't go ahead.

00:36:09.000 That's sorry to interrupt you.

00:36:10.460 That's the attitude and the posture that we need to take in our universities now.

00:36:14.900 And that's not what's happening.

00:36:16.860 But isn't that what?

00:36:18.220 How is it the university system?

00:36:20.960 They don't see themselves becoming the Catholic Church and people like you as Galileo.

00:36:27.120 Well, that's a really, really pertinent question.

00:36:31.380 And we have argued in Ariel magazine, for example, that this is a new religion.

00:36:36.420 And so as you see the decline of the Abrahamic traditions, particularly Christianity, something has filled that void.

00:36:43.960 And I think that this makes sense in a lot of ways to view these folks as religious, really.

00:36:51.040 They're kind of have an evangelism for social justice.

00:36:54.820 They have political correctness, which is blasphemy.

00:36:57.720 They have privilege, which is the analog to original sin.

00:37:01.480 And so they're really operating in this quasi-religious context, although they don't consider themselves religious.

00:37:08.740 So when you look at it through that lens, their behavior makes sense.

00:37:12.260 And what's happening now is that universities are so – they're not – they've become social centers of social justice advocacy and not centers where people find the truth.

00:37:26.980 So they've placed an agenda ahead of the truth.

00:37:29.720 And we tried to shine a light on that because we think it's hurting people.

00:37:33.700 So are you in the vast minority?

00:37:37.300 Are you in the majority but the only vocal ones?

00:37:40.280 Because how prevalent is your philosophy, you know, especially because, if I'm not mistaken, you're on the left?

00:37:47.580 Yeah, I would consider – I consider myself a classical liberal.

00:37:52.560 Okay.

00:37:52.920 And what's very – well, what's very interesting is that 10, 15 years ago, I would be the guy that parents would come in to warn their kids about.

00:38:04.560 Now I'm the guy – the whole institution has swung so far to the left that I'm the guy, conservative and religious parents, and I wrote a manual for creating atheists.

00:38:14.320 So we have some – you and I have some substantive metaphysical disagreements.

00:38:19.780 But again, those can be worked out in conversation.

00:38:22.180 But parents come to me now and tell them that they want their kids to study with me, and it's just the most fascinating twist in the culture war.

00:38:30.340 The fact that you and I are having this conversation now is another fascinating twist in the culture war.

00:38:34.820 And I think the commonality there is we might disagree about interpretations of facts, but both you and I share rudimentary – just commonalities.

00:38:47.320 Like we both agree there's an external world.

00:38:49.740 We both agree that your subjective experiences of the world don't trump any objective reality.

00:38:55.120 We both agree that we don't want to punch anybody being punched, right?

00:38:58.760 We want to work out our lowest common denominator, but unfortunately it has to be said in this cultural environment.

00:39:06.160 So we both value the truth, and we both value the fact that we can have conversations in which not only can we get to the truth, but it's okay if we disagree.

00:39:15.800 I want to know what you think.

00:39:17.180 And if I'm wrong about something, I don't want to be wrong – this is Sam Harris's.

00:39:23.080 You dedicated your book to him.

00:39:24.260 I don't want to be – quotation – I don't want to be wrong one second more than I have to be.

00:39:27.720 Exactly right.

00:39:28.300 And as long as we share that attitude, it's fine.

00:39:32.060 That's what Aristotle talked about, is the highest form of friendship between two virtuous people.

00:39:38.040 If both people love the truth, that's ultimately the only thing that matters, if they have integrity.

00:39:44.300 So, I mean, I'm a classic liberal as well.

00:39:48.460 I am very religious, but I don't – I mean, I have no – I have many atheist friends.

00:39:53.000 And I don't – I'm not trying to save them, and I'm not condemning them or whatever.

00:39:59.620 Just live your life, man, and live your life to the best that you can.

00:40:03.120 Is what – is the system that you're living under making you a better human being or a worse human being?

00:40:10.360 And I know people who are very religious who – it makes them a much worse human being. 1.00

00:40:16.000 And that's what we should all be striving for, is how can we respect each other's rights, basic human, constitutionally guarded human rights.

00:40:30.480 Leave people alone.

00:40:32.260 That is a view I share, but that is not what's coming out of these bodies of literature in what we term grievance studies, basically anything that has studies at the end of it.

00:40:44.240 One of the things that is coming out of this is the – is an overt racism in the name of non-racism.

00:40:52.360 It's an anti-male – basically, it's identifying people on the basis of their immutable characteristics. 0.69

00:40:58.680 For example, their skin color or some – right?

00:41:03.820 Martin Luther King's dream is absolutely dead right now.

00:41:07.180 That's right. That's correct.

00:41:08.060 It's not that we judge people on the content of their character, not the color of their skin.

00:41:12.300 It's the other way around.

00:41:14.040 So we – but what's worse than that is that we see from these bodies of literature – and this is really what I want people to understand.

00:41:20.020 People think, well, why does this affect me?

00:41:21.660 Well, it affects you because this stuff is being taught in school to our kids, and they don't develop robust defenses of their ideas.

00:41:30.700 They're not even – many people who have alternative opinions, for example, conservatives or libertarians or Christians, they don't feel comfortable voicing those opinions in the classroom.

00:41:41.840 So not only do students, other students, not get the benefit of learning why people believe things, right?

00:41:49.540 That's the philosopher Jürgen Habermas.

00:41:51.760 We want to speak to people so that we understand where they're coming from.

00:41:57.140 And when you understand where someone's coming from, especially in this incredibly polarized environment, it's much easier to look at them as people, to understand their points of view, and to have compassion toward them.

00:42:10.600 And if you look at the literature coming out of these fields, there's no mercy, there's no compassion, there's a weird sense of redemption if you're quote-unquote woke.

00:42:20.760 But these bodies of literature are causing contention, they're causing damage, they're hurting people.

00:42:27.820 And that's why we decided to do this project, because someone needed to shine a spotlight on this.

00:42:33.320 Okay. Let me just take a quick minute break, one minute break, and then we're going to come back.

00:42:37.940 And I want to hear what's happening to you at the university and how people can get involved in changing this.

00:42:45.540 So you did this experiment where you showed that you could pretty much get anything published.

00:42:54.020 And instead of that being a shockwave through the peer-reviewed system, you instead started receiving incoming fire from the system saying, you betrayed us.

00:43:14.360 Right. So just a small correction, or maybe a large correction, not that we could get anything published, but we could get anything that was morally fashionable published.

00:43:24.280 Correct. Correct.

00:43:25.220 So if it espouses feminist dogma, it's far more likely to be published. 0.64

00:43:31.040 Sure. I'm not going to get anything published.

00:43:32.800 If you published something that was religious or whatever and not in fashion, you couldn't get that published.

00:43:38.660 You couldn't even get some of the other stuff published until you really zeroed in on exactly the right language.

00:43:46.040 Correct?

00:43:46.680 Yeah.

00:43:47.040 We figured out what the core tenets of their belief system are.

00:43:50.180 And I can tell you this, and many listeners probably won't believe it, but the biology denialism is big, and hatred of men is big.

00:44:00.160 And in the dog park paper, the paper that received the most attention, we argued that we should train men like dogs.

00:44:08.020 And that was big.

00:44:11.240 So there's just – if you know what to write about and you know what morally resonates with them, then they'll just accept it.

00:44:20.820 Boom, hook, line, and sinker. 0.75

00:44:21.900 And that's unfortunate, again, because seven papers in seven years usually means tenure at most institutions.

00:44:28.120 And then these folks in the grievance studies complex start teaching these papers to kids.

00:44:33.440 They then use that as homework, and they study, and they test them on it, and then they come to think it's knowledge, right?

00:44:39.620 So they don't need faith in this sense.

00:44:41.980 They just, well, how do you know that?

00:44:43.140 Not because I have faith.

00:44:44.240 Well, here, it's in this piece of evidence.

00:44:46.200 Boom, and they point to it.

00:44:47.940 So what did your university say?

00:44:50.340 Well, they brought me up on charges, but I think it's really important to give some background so that people have a context for this.

00:45:01.000 First, there was an anonymous collective of Portland State University faculty who wrote really a slanderous open letter about me that you can still read it.

00:45:10.840 It's online in the Portland State University Vanguard.

00:45:13.600 They pictured me as an evil villain, and they put this nose on me, and they said, you know, snake oil, et cetera.

00:45:20.340 And the letter was really aimed at students to tell them that having me on the faculty was demeaning to their education.

00:45:28.780 But I'll let people read that for themselves.

00:45:34.540 So I think that's kind of the context that there are bullies.

00:45:39.980 These people are fundamentally bullies, and in this case, they're anonymous, so they're not just bullies. 0.95

00:45:45.180 They're cowards, and they're operating behind the scenes. 0.94

00:45:48.080 And so I'm sure that that and other things that I don't have access to put tremendous pressure on the administrators to do something to me. 0.94

00:45:57.540 So I don't necessarily blame them for an investigation.

00:46:00.120 I do understand that they're under a lot of pressure.

00:46:03.640 But do you blame them for cowardice?

00:46:06.900 I mean, truth is truth.

00:46:09.160 It's like the Covington School right now.

00:46:11.620 They're worried about losing their funding and everything else.

00:46:14.400 They don't know which side to come out on.

00:46:15.800 If you watched all of the videos, and I watched, I mean, my team watched all of it.

00:46:21.700 It's a very different story.

00:46:23.060 Now, these kids may be bad other times, but they weren't then.

00:46:27.180 And I'm sorry, but if it's the truth, not to stand is to stand.

00:46:33.140 Right.

00:46:33.580 So that's a commonality that we have.

00:46:37.000 We both defer to what's true independent of our own personal feelings.

00:46:42.180 So in this case, there were two things.

00:46:44.180 There was – I was found guilty of not going to the IRB, and the IRB is basically this human subjects board.

00:46:51.920 And any time you do experiments, quote-unquote experiments on human subjects, you need to get permission.

00:46:57.620 And so we looked at this as – and this has caused considerable controversy and debate.

00:47:04.180 We looked at investigating certain fields and certain journals and certain conclusions that the journals come to.

00:47:11.700 They viewed human subjects as the journal editors.

00:47:15.680 So I was found guilty of that, and currently that's escalated to the president and the provost of Portland State University.

00:47:24.020 So – and they may or may not impose additional sanctions on me.

00:47:30.000 We can talk about that.

00:47:31.440 The second charge of data fabrication is ongoing, and I don't – I have not received anything.

00:47:39.480 I don't know where that stands.

00:47:41.280 I know that when I decided to go public with this, that the – it was – the support that I have gotten has been unbelievable,

00:47:50.160 truly, truly humbling and amazing from all over the spectrum, political spectrum, ideological spectrum, religious spectrum.

00:48:00.020 So happy to hear this.

00:48:00.720 And those, frankly, are the most touching and satisfying to me.

00:48:05.220 They all start – we don't agree or we have many points of disagreement, but what you have done I really appreciate,

00:48:12.300 and we need alternative voices in the academy.

00:48:14.720 So people really are fed up with this, but Glenn, what's really interesting about this is that as the letters of support flood in

00:48:21.720 and they're going to the man who spearheaded the investigation and some to my boss, the chair of the philosophy department,

00:48:30.360 people are signing their names to these.

00:48:33.400 That's what's amazing to me about this, that people are no longer – they're no longer afraid to be called a racist or a homophobe or a misogynist.

00:48:42.940 So when they sign their names to this, they're doing so in a very public way.

00:48:48.340 They're giving me a very public show of support.

00:48:50.900 And people just aren't scared anymore.

00:48:53.660 So that's been an amazing sea change in this whole thing.

00:48:59.340 Courage is contagious.

00:49:01.840 And people, I truly believe, most people who are thoughtful, want to do the right thing.

00:49:09.240 They don't want to be a pariah.

00:49:11.280 They don't want to stand alone.

00:49:13.460 And it takes just a few leaders to stand up and say, guys, it's worth it because here's what it means.

00:49:21.100 You know, I'm very concerned about what our future is going to hold for my kids.

00:49:26.920 I don't care about my future at this point.

00:49:29.100 I care about the future of my kids, the future of the truth.

00:49:32.460 If we don't get a handle on this – I mean, what happened in Portland to the Weinsteins is obscene. 0.78

00:49:42.680 Evergreen, yeah.

00:49:43.520 Yes, and most people don't know what happened.

00:49:47.940 And they were holding – I mean, it was like France.

00:49:50.940 They were holding little mock trials in the library.

00:49:54.640 People, you know, professors were not allowed to leave.

00:49:57.260 It's frightening.

00:49:59.820 Exactly.

00:50:00.800 And I really want to say I think this is important.

00:50:04.520 This may be very hard for people to conceptualize or very hard for people to understand.

00:50:09.380 But once you put in the element of a kind of evangelism to this, it makes sense.

00:50:16.820 Mike Naina just released a video.

00:50:19.100 If you go to his YouTube channel, it's Mike Naina.

00:50:23.360 One of the things that he shows in this video is how these – what happened at Evergreen to Bret and Heather perfectly parallels the evangelical or a radical religious fervor.

00:50:38.640 Yes, yes.

00:50:39.240 And once you understand that, you understand why people act like that.

00:50:43.220 Yep.

00:50:43.800 The Blaze Radio Network.

00:50:48.180 On Demand.
