00:00:21.700 On today's program, I start with poll numbers, election poll numbers, but it's more than that.
00:00:27.840 I started really digging in to try to find out what direction are we going?
00:00:31.720 Who are we?
00:00:32.280 And boy, there are two Americas and it's not what you think.
00:00:36.180 This is actually a good story.
00:00:38.460 Also, Pastor Rick Bick, he's from Otumwa, Iowa.
00:00:42.280 I told you a story last week where a guy walks in to the city council meeting and he's supposed
00:00:46.880 to give the opening prayer and he prays to Satan.
00:00:49.840 Well, I didn't know the end of that story.
00:00:52.260 There was a pastor sitting there and he's like, okay, that's not going to stand.
00:00:55.420 And my question to you is, after you hear the story, what would you have done?
00:01:00.380 And the Cornell 7 case, what is everyone missing on that?
00:01:06.200 Completely different view on the Cornell 7, all on today's podcast.
00:01:20.060 You're listening to the best of the Glenn Beck program.
00:01:25.420 Hello, America. Welcome to the Glenn Beck program.
00:01:31.380 We've got a lot to talk about today.
00:01:32.980 I want to get right to it because I want to go to some election polls and some good news.
00:01:37.000 And the thing that would change everything is the price of diesel and the price of gas.
00:01:43.660 And I've got four suggestions for the president that I would really like to see him do.
00:01:48.220 Will he do it? I don't know.
00:01:50.000 But we'll see because that would actually change things.
00:01:55.160 And even if it wasn't an election, I would be saying the same thing because we've got to get the American people some relief on what they're feeling every day.
00:02:05.940 But I have some really great news beyond politics on polls, and we're going to start there here in just a second.
00:02:11.100 First, let me tell you about relief factor.
00:02:13.380 You've got to love it when somebody decides to conduct their own little science experiment, especially when they're the guinea pig.
00:02:20.900 There's a man named William.
00:02:22.200 He's 65 years old.
00:02:23.460 He decided to find out whether Relief Factor was really making a difference in his life, so he did something about it.
00:02:29.020 He stopped taking it completely, and for a while, I imagine he was pretty pleased with himself until something happened that he wasn't particularly happy about.
00:02:37.260 His everyday aches and pains started coming back, and he realized Relief Factor had been helping him more than he knew.
00:02:42.800 This is exactly my story.
00:02:44.100 Today, William says he can't be without it.
00:02:46.720 William, same experience.
00:02:48.160 Drug-free supplement designed to support your body's natural inflammatory response.
00:02:52.500 Take it.
00:02:52.880 And then if you don't think, oh, it's not making that big difference, stop taking it, and you'll see the difference.
00:02:57.700 Two-thirds of people that take it go on to order more month after month.
00:03:01.340 I want you to go to relieffactor.com.
00:03:03.180 Relieffactor.com, get the three-week quick start.
00:03:05.600 $17.76 is the price.
00:03:07.080 Relieffactor.com, 1-800-4-RELIEF.
00:03:09.340 1-800-4-RELIEF.
00:03:12.600 Okay, so I started looking at the polls.
00:03:15.180 I started looking at the political polls.
00:03:20.480 And there's a couple of things that stuck out to me.
00:03:22.300 And I want to get to that in here a second.
00:03:23.620 But as I was going through the polls, I started to go deeper and looking at some of the other polls that are out there.
00:03:28.760 There are polls out now that show that we are two Americas, but not in the way everybody thinks.
00:03:38.180 Pollsters have taken America's temperature.
00:03:43.320 And the headlines really wrote themselves, but you have to go deeper than the headlines.
00:03:48.740 Pride in becoming or being American hit the lowest level Gallup has ever recorded.
00:03:54.220 We've heard that, okay?
00:03:55.760 Only one in three of us say we're extremely proud of this country.
00:04:00.320 Among adults under 35, it's 14%.
00:04:04.220 Here's another one that wrote itself.
00:04:08.060 78% of us say the American dream is harder to reach than it was a generation ago.
00:04:13.020 78%.
00:04:13.540 A Pew study of 25 nations found Americans are especially likely to believe that their fellow citizens are morally bad.
00:04:25.380 Okay, so that's those stories you heard.
00:04:30.120 That's where the headlines stopped.
00:04:32.020 That's where the reporters stopped.
00:04:33.300 But that's not where the data stopped.
00:04:36.320 Gallup also asked whether you personally can still achieve the American dream.
00:04:41.760 remember we're very pessimistic you can't make the american dream is over it's over
00:04:47.220 68 of us said yeah i can still make it 68 it's everybody else that you're worried about
00:04:57.360 we haven't lost faith in the promise at least for ourselves we've lost sight of the people
00:05:04.720 around us who are still chasing it the same way we are most americans still believe in themselves
00:05:12.580 what we've misplaced is our belief in one another and that is honestly the most fixable problem in
00:05:19.580 the country because it doesn't require congress it requires a driveway now nbc saw poll this
00:05:28.260 weekend i'm looking at all of these trying to put them all together and figure out who we are where
00:05:32.300 we are, where we're headed. NBC came out with a poll headed in the other direction. They looked
00:05:36.340 at it from another angle. 54% of Americans say most of us share the same core values and simply
00:05:43.500 disagree on policy. Okay, so the majority believes we're basically alike while we tell our pollsters
00:05:52.240 that our neighbors are morally bad. Both of those things cannot be true.
00:06:02.300 Here's my answer to it.
00:06:04.100 One comes from your street, and the other one comes from your screen.
00:06:12.500 While we may be busy doubting each other, millions of Americans were quietly raising the bar.
00:06:19.660 For 25 years, Gallup has asked Americans whether a list of behaviors is morally acceptable or morally wrong.
00:06:27.700 for most of the time acceptance has moved in one direction and you know what direction that is
00:06:34.740 this year it fell on 17 of the 20 three years ago 70 said having a baby outside of marriage
00:06:44.680 was morally acceptable 70 today that number is 58 gambling was 71 in 2022 is morally acceptable
00:06:56.160 Today, it's 57.
00:06:59.500 How did that change happen?
00:07:02.240 No law changed that.
00:07:03.540 No politician has been campaigning.
00:07:05.120 There's been no television crusade.
00:07:07.200 There's nobody telling us what to think about gambling and having babies.
00:07:10.960 It's just millions of ordinary people looking at their own lives, their own kids, their own bank accounts, their own neighborhoods, and deciding, you know, some things matter more than we've been pretending they matter.
00:07:24.140 This is the really good news.
00:07:25.900 nobody has organized this. Nobody has funded this. It's happening one kitchen table at a time,
00:07:32.960 which means it can keep happening the exact same way.
00:07:40.100 Did you know that in 2024, weekly Bible reading in America hit a 15-year low,
00:07:46.020 we're at 30%. One year later, according to Barna, it jumps 12 points.
00:07:54.420 Now, who led the way?
00:07:57.660 Not grandma and grandpa.
00:08:00.300 They didn't lead that climb. 0.80
00:08:02.340 You know, boomers now read scriptures less than any other generation. 0.68
00:08:08.660 So who led it? 0.96
00:08:11.960 Men.
00:08:14.280 54% of Gen Z men and 57% of millennial men say they open their Bible every week. 0.55
00:08:21.500 excuse me 57 percent for generations women outread men
00:08:29.000 among the young that's flipped
00:08:32.960 now pew has a poll out says this revival talk is overblown and maybe it is i don't know but for
00:08:41.800 years we were told the young men were lost the young men were angry the young men were gone
00:08:48.120 Well, these are the same young men.
00:08:51.340 Some of them are sitting at their kitchen table every night or at least one night a week looking at an old book, looking for something true.
00:08:59.520 That's not a lost generation.
00:09:01.680 That's a searching generation.
00:09:05.120 That's really good news.
00:09:08.640 They're also the young people who told Gallup that they aren't proud.
00:09:13.140 Wait, what?
00:09:13.860 now you can hear contempt in that if you want but remember this is a searching group i hear a
00:09:22.300 generation that hasn't given hasn't been given much to be proud of up close what have we given
00:09:27.660 them to be proud of they've been handing handed a country through a phone and the phone only shows
00:09:35.100 the fights difference between the driveway and the screen you don't learn to love a country from a feed
00:09:43.100 how do you learn to love a country
00:09:49.960 is it through school
00:09:52.260 I think you learn to love your neighborhood
00:09:56.700 your neighbors and your country
00:09:58.040 through a coach that shows up
00:09:59.700 through a neighbor that plows your driveway
00:10:02.540 a church that brought dinner
00:10:05.060 when you and your dad were sick
00:10:06.700 love of country
00:10:13.040 is built out of gratitude for people.
00:10:16.760 We lack gratitude
00:10:18.320 because we're so busy on our screens.
00:10:23.480 You know, Pew asked,
00:10:24.440 what does it take, America,
00:10:26.720 to live a fulfilling life?
00:10:29.460 61% said close friends are essential.
00:10:34.120 61.
00:10:35.320 More than marriage.
00:10:37.520 More than children.
00:10:39.900 More than said money.
00:10:43.040 we know the need.
00:10:46.700 Yet one in six of us feels lonely or isolated
00:10:50.100 all or most of the time.
00:10:54.780 So Pew went farther.
00:10:56.700 What cuts that loneliness?
00:11:00.800 Well, it's not a pill,
00:11:02.800 and it's not a program.
00:11:06.220 Among Americans who don't know any of their neighbors,
00:11:09.600 one in five feels lonely all or most of the time.
00:11:13.800 Among those who know most or all of their neighbors,
00:11:16.780 it's 6%.
00:11:17.960 Less than a third as many.
00:11:24.200 You know the loneliest place in America
00:11:26.060 is New York City.
00:11:28.500 Surrounded by people, but you don't know anybody.
00:11:32.660 So let's lay the polls side by side here for a second.
00:11:36.020 We think our fellow citizens are morally bad
00:11:39.200 and yet we feel alone.
00:11:43.080 Now, hang on just a second.
00:11:44.720 How does that work?
00:11:46.560 We don't know anybody,
00:11:48.500 but we think our neighbors are bad.
00:11:52.880 Again, one is reality, one is a screen.
00:11:57.700 We doubt the dream is open to anyone except us.
00:12:03.860 And the most powerful things that moves those numbers
00:12:06.580 cost nothing.
00:12:07.500 Just know your neighbor.
00:12:11.120 Most of what we fear about people disappears the moment you learn your neighbor's name.
00:12:15.740 You know, the guy with the wrong yard sign becomes Dave, who just lost his mom.
00:12:22.720 The family that never waves becomes the Martinez family, whose boy deploys next month. 0.54
00:12:31.820 The woman who seems cold is a widow who hasn't had a real conversation since August. 0.98
00:12:38.240 The kid with that annoying loud truck is saving for a ring.
00:12:42.700 The screen never introduces you to Dave or the kid or the widow.
00:12:46.940 It introduces us to categories.
00:12:50.180 And it's easy to hate a category.
00:12:56.260 It's kind of hard to hate a guy who just returned your ladder.
00:13:00.820 This week, I want to challenge all of us.
00:13:06.760 Don't try to save the republic.
00:13:09.000 Take back your corner of it.
00:13:11.700 Learn one name you don't know on your street.
00:13:14.240 Knock.
00:13:14.860 Bring something.
00:13:15.760 Or don't.
00:13:16.940 Just say, you know, I've lived here for four years and I've never introduced myself.
00:13:21.180 You're going to feel awkward for about nine seconds.
00:13:24.020 And then your neighbor's going to go, you know what?
00:13:26.080 We've been trying to come over to your place as well.
00:13:28.600 Call a friend.
00:13:29.340 Call a friend you've let drift
00:13:31.960 Not a text, a call, call them
00:13:33.660 You already told the pollsters
00:13:36.100 Friendship is what makes life worth living
00:13:38.620 Let's start acting like we mean that
00:13:41.900 If there's a young man in your life
00:13:45.720 Your son, your grandson 0.99
00:13:47.540 A kid who bags your groceries
00:13:49.060 While you're standing there
00:13:50.560 And they're bagging the groceries
00:13:51.740 Ask him, what are you reading?
00:13:54.980 He may be waiting for somebody older to talk about it
00:13:57.960 be that person
00:14:00.000 and while you're at it
00:14:02.580 tell him one thing about the country
00:14:04.540 you're grateful for
00:14:05.660 not that he should be grateful for
00:14:07.300 that you're grateful for
00:14:08.600 he may never have heard a grown up
00:14:10.920 say anything like that out loud
00:14:12.480 here's the thing I wanted to start
00:14:17.240 before we get into the election polls
00:14:18.860 I wanted to start with this
00:14:20.620 experts will continue to poll
00:14:22.380 that's good, good
00:14:23.520 but every one of those numbers
00:14:25.660 is a head count of choices
00:14:27.260 people like you made last month.
00:14:30.760 Change the choices and you change the numbers.
00:14:34.860 No one in Washington can do that for you.
00:14:36.940 Nobody in Washington can stop you.
00:14:39.960 The polls say Americans doubt each other.
00:14:42.200 The same polls say we're wrong about each other,
00:14:45.440 that we still believe in ourselves,
00:14:47.240 that we're quietly raising the bar on how we live.
00:14:50.320 How can we be raising the bar dramatically
00:14:53.500 and yet more and more of us are becoming immoral?
00:14:56.460 That doesn't make sense.
00:14:57.660 We don't know each other.
00:15:01.160 Our young men are lost, and yet our young men are opening the Bible.
00:15:07.600 And we know deep down that a good life is measured in friends.
00:15:11.880 That's not a nation in decline.
00:15:13.540 That's a nation homesick for itself.
00:15:20.600 America is not a pole.
00:15:23.000 America has always been a porch light. 0.74
00:15:28.520 Turn yours on.
00:15:34.800 This is the best of the Glenn Beck Program.
00:15:48.180 High prices are here to stay.
00:15:50.220 Gas, groceries, insurance.
00:15:51.580 And if you're a homeowner, you've probably thought, should I call American Financing to refinance and pay off this credit card debt?
00:15:57.460 And then you second guess yourself because of your current low mortgage rate.
00:16:01.040 Listen, that low rate, it's not saving you if you're drowning in credit card interest at 25% or more.
00:16:06.300 That's the math nobody wants to face.
00:16:08.400 But it's costing you thousands.
00:16:10.020 And here's the truth.
00:16:10.920 If you're only making minimum payments, that debt will follow you for years.
00:16:14.760 That's why people are calling American Financing because they're saving customers an average of $800 a month
00:16:19.920 by using their equity to finally break free from credit card debt.
00:16:23.800 You owe it to your family to see what's possible.
00:16:26.440 No upfront fees, no pressure, and it costs you nothing to find out if you could save something big every month.
00:16:31.380 And if you start today, you may be able to delay up to two mortgage payments.
00:16:34.960 So call American Financing, 800-906-2440.
00:16:38.400 That's 800-906-2440 or visit AmericanFinancing.net.
00:16:42.960 NMLS 182334 NMLSConsumerAccess.org
00:16:45.980 APR for rates in the 5 starts at 6.327% for well-qualified borrowers
00:16:49.380 Call 800-906-2440 for details about credit costs and terms
00:16:52.520 Visit AmericanFinancing.net
00:16:53.940 Average savings based on borrowers who save over $200
00:16:55.960 This is the best of the Glenn Beck Program
00:17:02.780 okay do we happen to have the audio from last week when in ottawa iowa uh there was a city council
00:17:19.140 meeting and a a guy steps up don't play the audio of it please just just the video a guy steps up
00:17:25.760 the city council is getting ready to you know do the thing and they're like okay we got to start
00:17:29.340 with a word of prayer and also the Pledge of Allegiance.
00:17:34.400 And a guy stands up and he's giving the prayer
00:17:37.440 and he begins with Hail Satan.
00:17:40.180 And he gives a satanic prayer
00:17:42.180 and we're not gonna play it on the air 0.58
00:17:43.580 and we're not gonna repeat any of it.
00:17:46.180 But it was bad.
00:17:48.520 And then everybody just kind of got up
00:17:50.780 and said the Pledge of Allegiance.
00:17:52.220 And I thought that was the end of it.
00:17:53.640 It was not the end of it.
00:17:54.940 But Rick Bick is a pastor for the New Life Center Church, and he happened to be there and stepped up right after.
00:18:06.500 And we didn't capture that, but Rick is on with us now.
00:18:09.240 Hi, Rick.
00:18:10.500 Hi, Glenn.
00:18:11.020 How are you?
00:18:11.540 Thanks for having me.
00:18:13.680 You bet.
00:18:14.500 I got to tell you, Otomo, Iowa, that's a small town in Iowa, right?
00:18:20.380 Yes.
00:18:21.700 Yeah, we're in the heart of the country.
00:18:24.940 Yeah, the heartland.
00:18:28.100 Yeah, I mean, my mom and grandparent was from Cedar Rapids, Iowa,
00:18:34.280 the small little Iowa towns that, you know, I think of the music man, for the love of Pete.
00:18:40.540 And then to see somebody come out with a satanic prayer, and the way we saw it,
00:18:47.320 the way it was clipped, was there wasn't really any reaction to that.
00:18:51.120 But that's not what happened.
00:18:53.120 Can you tell me what happened?
00:18:54.940 Well, yeah, he gave the prayer. And I think everybody just went into shock and that they like, what just happened here? And so the mayor went to the Pledge of Allegiance. And I just like, wow, he just inside me, I wasn't saying this vocally or anything, but inside me, what was going on?
00:19:19.620 this guy just cursed our city and we're not going to do that because the mayor is a good friend of
00:19:24.000 mine. We pray every morning for our city, for blessing, for good stuff. And this guy just
00:19:28.080 cursed it. And I just told myself, he's no, we're not going to, he's not going to get away with that.
00:19:33.720 So you stood up and what, what'd you do? I just, I just stood up and challenged everything. And
00:19:40.660 because I thought I broke some of the protocol and rules and that, but then the mayor called
00:19:45.940 me. And I said, that guy with what he said, you know, starting out the prayer with the old dark
00:19:50.560 father and some of the things that were in it. And then he said, you know, ended with hail Satan.
00:19:54.980 I said, he just put a curse on our city and we need to stop and just reverse it right now.
00:20:00.900 And then I got a lot of flack from, you know, one city council member. And I said, you know,
00:20:06.940 with rules and regs and all that. And I said, I don't care what the rules or regs are. We're
00:20:11.000 going to stop and reverse this right now because we're not, we're not accepting a curse on our
00:20:15.480 city what was the objection on the rules and regs there's no regulation on reversing something from
00:20:25.240 a satanic prayer is that what i don't know what regulation uh stops well i guess it may be rules
00:20:32.960 of roberts or something but after you know the pledge of allegiance they're supposed to go to
00:20:36.840 the consent agenda and some other i mean some other things in that so she was saying that you
00:20:41.460 know me being vocal should have went to the end of the meeting where you know there's citizen
00:20:46.280 comments and um but i think actually because the uh there was no vote to um um accept it or or
00:20:58.820 confirm the agenda or you know and that that didn't really yeah so it was okay for me and then
00:21:04.080 well even go ahead if you're using roberts for i think even robert would be saying no i'm i'm
00:21:10.140 cool with this let's stop the seat and stuff how did this guy how did this guy get selected to give
00:21:16.240 the prayer who is he the atumoid hasn't had a invocation prayer for many many years and our
00:21:24.740 new mayor um that's one of the first things he wanted to do is bring invocation and prayer over
00:21:28.960 a city again so he had written a nice um outline for invocation and used previous previous things
00:21:38.580 And so it was rejected.
00:21:41.320 Part of it was like, you need to be a pastor, a leader, five years experience in the community.
00:21:46.600 You know, nothing, I mean, pretty serious, you know, commitment, not just, you know, walking in off the street and doing it, which was pretty exciting.
00:21:53.560 But then it went to the council and that other favorite group, the city attorneys.
00:22:01.280 So, and so.
00:22:03.620 And they are that.
00:22:05.220 So you're talking about the Satanists or are the attorneys.
00:22:08.580 No, the city attorneys, you know, I'm not talking about the Satanists, because then they rewrote everything so that we appease everybody, and so we have to be open to everybody.
00:22:18.880 So they rewrote the guidelines, and there were certain things that were to be followed.
00:22:22.940 I'm not sure that this guy followed them, but so they had to make it open to everybody, and he was given some rules.
00:22:30.580 I think he had a meeting with the mayor a few minutes before, or the mayor had talked to him before this meeting, and that everybody was thinking everything was going to be okay.
00:22:45.480 I thought he was going to do something goofy because I know him, but not that goofy.
00:22:49.480 You know what I mean?
00:22:51.100 So is he a Satanist? 0.98
00:22:53.140 You say he's goofy. 0.97
00:22:54.120 Is he a Satanist? 0.77
00:22:55.120 I mean, he just, he's, he's, Matt's an extremely intelligent guy, opinion aided, you know, and, you know, in some ways I like him, but he gets off onto this.
00:23:06.300 Now he said he, that he goes to the satanic temple, but he doesn't worship Satan, but then he agrees with the tenants, but not a Satanist.
00:23:15.260 So I'm not sure how that works out.
00:23:18.560 Yeah.
00:23:19.140 I'm not sure Satan really sees that fine distinction that he might be looking at.
00:23:23.660 Yeah.
00:23:25.120 So was this a political statement more than anything else?
00:23:29.940 You know, I'm not sure.
00:23:31.660 I, I, I think he was just, maybe it's, you know, for attention or, you know, I'm making a statement that, you know, it may have been an under, you know, the underlining thing may have been a way to get invocation back out of the city council meetings.
00:23:49.280 you know it's it's it's so strange how we're all under attack this is as weird to me as charlie
00:23:59.540 kirk being shot in utah i see a small town in iowa and you know the satan satanic prayer is given
00:24:10.460 before it it um we are really in dark spiritual times the the enemy is um is quite busy and is
00:24:21.140 busy on every corner and especially the smallest meaning us as individuals yes yeah and i you know
00:24:29.420 no one was expecting this and quite frankly i just i reacted because i don't my whole thought
00:24:37.560 and process was, you're not getting away with cursing our city.
00:24:41.020 Nobody's cursing our city.
00:24:41.980 We're blessing our city.
00:24:43.160 I had no idea that this was going to go the way it did.
00:24:49.960 How did the people in Ottumwa react to this?
00:24:54.620 Did they just blow by it?
00:24:57.240 What's the city react?
00:24:58.760 Actually, at the meeting, if you watch it, people are in shock.
00:25:03.240 Some people, after he started, like one city council member,
00:25:06.420 after he started prayer walked out, out of the meeting. And, but in the city, there's a lot,
00:25:13.160 you can't see it in what you're showing there, but in the city, um, even, you know, non-religious
00:25:19.600 people are not there. They're an up in arms. They're saying, no, who prays to Satan? Who does
00:25:24.440 that? And so it's, it's caused a lot of things on the local, local level. Well, I'm glad you were
00:25:31.620 there i i really uh i appreciate you talking to us and uh and thanks for taking quick action
00:25:37.140 because honestly i i saw the people like because i could only see the people behind him and i saw
00:25:43.240 the people uh behind him and they were standing there and they looked like they were you know
00:25:49.400 concentrating on something else weren't necessarily fully listening and i thought you know if i were
00:25:54.360 standing there i think i would have said to my wife what just what what the hell what did he
00:26:00.480 just pray to say i mean i think that would have been my initial reaction as well you know i don't
00:26:05.920 think i would have you know immediately like that that one city council person that walked out i
00:26:11.860 think he was way ahead of the crowd on that one yeah so i didn't stand up the invitation is to
00:26:18.120 stand up and and join i um i didn't stand up for it um i just because i thought this is this is
00:26:26.220 because you know right yeah i just knew it wasn't going to go right and i don't want to be in
00:26:30.300 agreement with that uh so and then when he got done what you don't see on the camera is when he
00:26:36.860 got done he turned you can't see me but if you look on that screen to to the left i'm sitting
00:26:42.900 in the first pew or row behind the the low gate so when you see over his shoulder to the left you
00:26:48.960 can't see that was you that sat down no no no no i'm i'm the other way uh i'm you can't see me
00:26:55.160 okay okay yeah okay so so which would be if you're looking at him is is his right shoulder
00:27:00.700 if you go the other i'm there and so when he came by i i stopped him and i said did you just
00:27:05.880 say hail satan and he went into this yeah and if you can say in the name of jesus i can say hail
00:27:10.980 satan and i said no you can't do that here you got to go he virtually ran out of the building
00:27:15.940 so when you see me walking up to the podium podium he's already in his truck and gone
00:27:22.040 mm-hmm rick blessings to everybody in otomwa iowa and thank you for standing up i appreciate it
00:27:30.460 god bless you thanks for having me bick new life you bet new life center church pastor who uh
00:27:36.560 who i mean you gotta watch it no no don't watch the video it's just it's crazy it's crazy and we
00:27:43.220 should all be very aware that you know these things are happening around us and what are you
00:27:48.000 prepared to do. If that happened to you and you were somewhere, what would you do? Would you have
00:27:54.120 just gone on with it and went, I don't know what the hell, okay, and then just went on with your
00:27:59.700 life? Would you have stood up, walked out? Would you have approached the podium? What would you
00:28:06.340 have done? These are the kinds of tests that I think that we all need to pass now because
00:28:12.040 it's we're in like first grade on evil tests and uh they're only going to get harder as we get
00:28:18.760 as we as we go on here so what would you have done
00:28:22.300 this is the best of the glenbeck program and don't forget rate us on itunes
00:28:31.340 okay so there's a marine in north carolina now who's never set foot on the cornell campus
00:28:42.640 but he's getting death threats now and the only connection to cornell is his name
00:28:49.360 he shares it with one of the seven young men named in a lawsuit
00:28:54.300 and the women's lawyers put out his address in a court filing by mistake oh well thank you
00:29:01.880 they corrected it but the wrong filing stayed public and the internet does what the internet
00:29:07.620 does okay his phone number went online his attorney says the threats followed at least
00:29:13.820 one other man and with the same name uh who is a defendant has been harassed as well
00:29:18.960 if you don't know what this case is about let me just take you through
00:29:22.820 what this case is about. Woman says in October 2024, one of the fraternity houses at Cornell,
00:29:29.900 she was pressured into ketamine, marijuana, and alcohol until she was incapacitated and unable to
00:29:37.380 make decisions rationally herself that seven members of the fraternity assaulted her for hours.
00:29:43.560 Her lawsuit includes a picture of a group chat. She shows them discussing the night.
00:29:50.200 She went to campus police three weeks later.
00:29:53.880 Now, the fraternity was suspended.
00:29:56.020 Cornell says it punished the students, some with expulsion.
00:30:00.140 The district attorney, however, didn't file any charges.
00:30:03.960 He says her first sworn statement didn't describe being drugged or gang raped.
00:30:09.380 Then, last month, she files a civil suit, and the country found out.
00:30:14.280 Now, so here's what's happened since then.
00:30:16.020 District Attorney's Office has been buried in insults and threats.
00:30:20.980 Prosecutors have demanded the university president's resignation.
00:30:24.440 The fraternity house has been vandalized.
00:30:26.700 A comedy writer launched a website about the Cornell 7.
00:30:30.360 New York governor appointed Letitia James as special prosecutor.
00:30:34.840 That'll clear things up.
00:30:36.460 Three days before her appointment, James had posted what the young woman had endured as horrific and unacceptable.
00:30:44.980 And one of the accused is now in court arguing that she's already made up her mind.
00:30:49.920 Okay.
00:30:50.520 The other side has its mob as well. 0.97
00:30:53.280 The accuser has been mocked for not being attractive. 1.00
00:30:56.500 Her body was picked apart, and so were her motivations.
00:31:00.020 No one has been charged with anything.
00:31:02.000 Okay?
00:31:02.200 No jury has heard one word.
00:31:04.880 Both sides have already announced the verdict.
00:31:08.700 You would think we would learn, but apparently we don't.
00:31:13.360 Does anybody remember 2006, March 2006?
00:31:17.240 An exotic dancer says she was raped at a party thrown by the Duke lacrosse team.
00:31:21.840 The district attorney was in the middle of an election.
00:31:24.460 A week after the story broke, he gave somewhere between 50 and 70 interviews.
00:31:29.220 He becomes a hero.
00:31:30.760 Within weeks, a group of Duke professors signed a full-page ad in the student paper that, you know, told everybody that they had already reached a verdict.
00:31:41.180 The court was forced out.
00:31:42.620 The season was canceled.
00:31:44.000 Three young men were indicted.
00:31:45.700 Their faces were everywhere nationwide.
00:31:49.040 A year later, the Attorney General of North Carolina, a Democrat named Roy Cooper,
00:31:53.580 stood at the microphone and did something the prosecutors never do.
00:31:56.880 He didn't say, we're dropping this because of insufficient evidence.
00:32:00.120 He came and he said the three men were innocent.
00:32:05.160 Innocent.
00:32:06.280 Called the case a tragic rush to accuse.
00:32:08.880 The district attorney was disbarred and spent a whole night in jail.
00:32:15.380 Now, happens the other way as well.
00:32:18.180 Anybody remember Larry Nassar?
00:32:20.820 He was the Olympic coach for more than a year.
00:32:25.600 People knew, and he kept on abusing girls the whole time.
00:32:29.480 Nobody rushed in that case because nobody believed the girls.
00:32:34.400 You can fall victim by refusing to listen.
00:32:37.440 You can destroy innocent men or women by refusing to wait.
00:32:43.060 A just system doesn't allow either of those.
00:32:47.300 So what's wrong here?
00:32:48.440 There are two things, and I'm going to hit the obvious one first,
00:32:51.000 and that is, what went wrong?
00:32:53.080 I don't know. 1.00
00:32:53.740 Believe all women. 1.00
00:32:56.020 And, you know, when that started, it was good.
00:32:59.780 It was like, hey, let's take women seriously.
00:33:02.220 When a woman comes forward, take her seriously.
00:33:04.100 Don't laugh her out of the room.
00:33:05.360 that part is right and was long overdue take her seriously unfortunately that slid into
00:33:12.200 she's always telling the truth and then that slid into he's always guilty and anyone who
00:33:18.580 who uh questioned that answer was an accomplice or part of the problem me too me too me too
00:33:25.780 then 2020 comes and tara reed accuses joe biden and suddenly everybody wants more evidence than
00:33:35.140 she had. Wait a minute. The rule held up right until it was inconvenient. That's how you know
00:33:42.340 it's not principle, okay? It's a weapon. And weapons get picked up and used by whoever is
00:33:49.120 closest. Is that the country you want to live in? I don't. That's why we have to stop with the mob
00:33:56.740 stuff on all sides. Stop. Now, there's another layer about this, and I think this is the more 0.69
00:34:05.820 important layer. This is the layer about how the sexual revolution has made us miserable,
00:34:12.300 and I mean really miserable. You know, when we started pushing the lie that all sex is good as
00:34:20.860 long as it's consensual, we lost the language to explain how we feel when we do something degrading.
00:34:26.740 because when you do something degrading,
00:34:30.380 your body knows it, your mind knows it,
00:34:32.780 your spirit knows it, okay? 1.00
00:34:34.960 This young woman degraded herself
00:34:39.340 and so did all the other people involved.
00:34:41.420 I'm not pointing fingers to her.
00:34:43.320 It's everybody.
00:34:44.200 It's all of them, okay?
00:34:45.300 It was seemingly consensual based on her own texts
00:34:51.180 to the two young men after the event.
00:34:54.060 She used the phrase, our body, our choice, quoting, nothing was illegal, end quote.
00:35:01.880 That's her.
00:35:05.020 Now, just because something isn't illegal doesn't mean something isn't wrong.
00:35:12.660 Here's what I think happened.
00:35:14.640 what she was trying to say when she started to feel ashamed when she used when she
00:35:26.240 when she started feeling like oh my gosh we all degraded ourselves and she feels icky
00:35:35.180 sorry that's a real word that can be used in this icky she feels like this was wrong this was
00:35:41.480 She feels horrible because she's been degraded, and she degraded, okay?
00:35:49.500 But she was never taught the moral language to describe what just happened.
00:35:55.580 All she was ever taught was consent.
00:35:58.500 Was there consent?
00:35:59.940 Yes.
00:36:00.540 Then it's good.
00:36:01.580 It's okay.
00:36:03.380 No consent?
00:36:04.560 Then it's bad.
00:36:06.920 So now she's feeling bad.
00:36:09.000 She's feeling the wounds of what she engaged in and all of them engaged in.
00:36:15.700 And so she has got to come to the conclusion there must not have been really consent because it feels bad.
00:36:24.320 And from that lie, life after life after life is ruined.
00:36:30.060 And no one knows who to blame.
00:36:32.780 Now, I want you to know, I am not saying this about her.
00:36:36.220 I'm saying this about all of them involved.
00:36:39.000 All of us.
00:36:40.880 If it's just consent and then it makes it fine.
00:36:44.140 What stops us from bestiality?
00:36:46.140 Honestly, what stops?
00:36:48.900 You know, I think it's Peter Singer who says,
00:36:52.560 as long as the animal is enjoying it, it's okay.
00:36:57.860 What?
00:37:00.940 What stops us from bestiality is the idea of the animal can't consent.
00:37:09.000 what does that do to you?
00:37:16.360 You know, even though we can try,
00:37:18.980 we can try so hard to convince ourselves
00:37:21.400 that, you know, there's no such thing as right and wrong.
00:37:25.800 Our bodies know the difference. 0.99
00:37:28.820 No matter how many times you tell a young woman
00:37:31.120 that it's good to let seven men have sex with you back to back,
00:37:35.180 as long as you consent, her body, her soul,
00:37:38.240 the little spark of God that lives in her and all of us
00:37:42.340 will always tell her it's wrong.
00:37:46.220 And that same spark of God is in the men too,
00:37:49.320 who are also lost.
00:38:01.400 This is why I'm concerned about our society. 1.00
00:38:03.980 Guys can generally be piggish much more 0.99
00:38:08.040 than women can it bothers women and in our society it's seemingly no longer bothering women but i 0.99
00:38:19.860 think that's what this is actually about that it is bother they just don't know how to verbalize it
00:38:25.960 because they haven't given been given any moral language the dissonance between what our culture
00:38:33.340 teaches us about sex and what our conscience knows and creates shame in us without any
00:38:41.760 understanding. It leaves you looking for a scapegoat. I shouldn't feel this way. I did
00:38:49.480 the right thing. It's okay to do whatever I want. Who's to blame here?
00:38:54.000 so there's two sides to this story there's the me too me too me too gone wrong
00:39:03.820 both directions believe the guy believe the woman always both wrong let the system work it out don't
00:39:12.580 form a mob and then there's this and until we embrace there is such a thing as sexual morality
00:39:21.560 Again, the story is not going to stop.
00:39:23.340 It's just going to happen.
00:39:24.700 No amount of consent or on-campus workshops about sexual violence will work
00:39:31.740 because the entire model is based on a lie.
00:39:38.280 Our bodies still know it's a lie because that's how God made us.
00:39:45.800 It's time to listen.
00:39:51.560 You're listening to the best of the Glenn Beck Program.
00:39:54.680 earlier today i started the program uh with some polls that i was looking at beyond politics
00:40:19.700 what is happening to us and i found really really good news go back and listen to that it's how i
00:40:27.840 opened the show today and i want to i want to take this final segment here and kind of circle back to
00:40:33.440 that my sister just moved to um idaho um and for her whole life almost her whole life she lived in
00:40:40.340 the same neighborhood in a town called bellingham washington which is like marxist central it's a
00:40:45.140 beautiful town the water politically it's as far left as america can get and she wasn't far left
00:40:51.160 um she's not a marxist she's not even a democrat um and in a neighborhood where politics was kind
00:40:59.260 of the i don't know the membership card decades on the same street meant she had very few friends 0.89
00:41:06.580 nobody was ever cruel to her that i know of you know she just never fit she had no friends that
00:41:11.820 were neighbors and, you know, everybody knew it. And so she packs up and she moves to a small town
00:41:20.180 about 10 miles from mine. And it's a very religious town. She's not, you know, goes to the
00:41:26.580 same church or anything. But I mentioned this because it's a place where the shops close on
00:41:32.500 Sundays and the churches are full, you know, and without any laws, they just don't do it. Everybody's
00:41:37.320 at church. The other day I was driving through and away to a friend's house and I turned to Tanya
00:41:44.140 and we were driving through this neighborhood. And I said to Tanya, I said, I don't think I
00:41:48.080 have waved to this many people on a street in my life. And I don't know half of these people.
00:41:53.600 They're just, they look up, you know, mom's in the front yard with their three kids in a garden
00:41:56.820 hose and you drive by and they're like, hi. And you're like, hi, I don't know you, but hi.
00:42:01.640 Old couple on their knees, you know, with the tomatoes and every single person looking up and
00:42:06.620 wave at a car they don't know not my neighborhood who's fabulous who's fantastic so a couple weeks 0.98
00:42:17.140 ago my sister has a truckload of sod that's delivered she just moves in she has just dirt 0.96
00:42:21.700 in front of her yard and so this sod is delivered and comes in the morning landscapers aren't due 1.00
00:42:26.260 until about five o'clock in the afternoon so all day she had a driveway full of rolled up grass
00:42:30.500 sitting in the sun and a street full of neighbors she had known about for about a week
00:42:35.280 so i'm coming about five o'clock five o'clock the landscapers show up but so did the neighbors
00:42:42.900 nobody called them men still in their you know work boots and moms and a church youth group and
00:42:50.140 a pack of teenagers apparently had nothing better to do on a weeknight than unroll a stranger's
00:42:54.860 lawn it was bizarre one hour front yard and backyard all done by the time i get there they're
00:43:01.600 halfway done, okay? The landscapers were there, by the way, which is additionally odd. None of
00:43:09.520 the landscapers said, don't touch that. No release forms had to be signed or anything else. For a
00:43:14.880 myriad of reasons, this does not happen anywhere in America anymore, but it was great. Within an
00:43:23.280 hour, the grass was done. The sprinklers were running. The youth group was sitting on my
00:43:28.600 sister's brand new lawn
00:43:30.640 eating pizza. She had run out because
00:43:32.460 she didn't know what else to do with the feeling.
00:43:34.120 Let me go get them pizza.
00:43:37.360 And
00:43:37.800 not one of them asked,
00:43:40.740 so what church do you go to?
00:43:43.360 No one asked, how do you vote?
00:43:46.580 It was a town full of people
00:43:48.880 that take their faith
00:43:50.440 seriously, as seriously as anybody else
00:43:52.560 in America.
00:43:53.980 And the only membership they checked was,
00:43:56.920 do you belong to the human family?
00:43:59.440 She did.
00:44:00.120 That's enough.
00:44:03.940 It was amazing to watch.
00:44:05.480 I know this community, so I wasn't surprised.
00:44:07.800 She was shocked.
00:44:08.600 She pulled me aside.
00:44:09.300 She's like, what's going on?
00:44:10.500 What's the catch?
00:44:11.780 What's happening?
00:44:13.100 He said, there's no catch.
00:44:14.720 But I understood the question.
00:44:16.940 Because a lifetime of modern life teaches you that when somebody shows up unasked, they want something.
00:44:23.180 A vote, a signature, you know, whatever.
00:44:26.260 She was like, what's the angle?
00:44:28.100 What is happening?
00:44:29.020 And I'm like, there's no angle, honey.
00:44:31.320 This is the community you moved into.
00:44:34.280 I hope you like neighbors because they're going to like you.
00:44:38.560 These people are just deciding to act like Christ instead of just like talking about Christ.
00:44:46.700 And they do it so they can become a little more like Christ.
00:44:50.520 And I told her, I said, seeing you happy is what they get out of it.
00:44:55.780 Seeing you happy.
00:44:56.960 I have to tell you, I've never seen my sister happy.
00:45:03.220 My sister is so happy right now.
00:45:07.860 I can't tell you how many times we've talked about what happened with Assad. 0.97
00:45:13.320 And this is the way we used to be. 0.98
00:45:14.860 You know, when somebody needed something, you know, and, you know, no family could do it alone, the neighbors held a bee, okay?
00:45:21.120 A raising bee is what it was called when you would put up a barn.
00:45:24.820 A logging bee to clear a field.
00:45:26.660 A husking bee for the court. 1.00
00:45:28.520 Or before winter, women would do a quilting bee. 1.00
00:45:32.360 The whole countryside would come. 0.99
00:45:34.260 Barn frame would go up in a day.
00:45:35.720 Nobody was paid because we're all in it together.
00:45:41.420 The family had one job.
00:45:43.380 Just feed everybody when they're done.
00:45:48.500 Are we still in it together?
00:45:51.800 Do you live somewhere where you believe that?
00:45:58.440 My sister didn't know any of that.
00:46:01.660 She didn't know any of that.
00:46:02.980 She hadn't seen any of that.
00:46:04.680 And so then she just goes and gets pizza, 0.95
00:46:07.800 which is what the bee used to do.
00:46:09.540 I mean, I guess it's in her blood.
00:46:16.160 No one knows for sure where bee came from,
00:46:18.420 but the word Americans use for neighbors showing up
00:46:20.860 has a
00:46:22.820 actually started
00:46:24.720 they think
00:46:25.560 they think
00:46:26.360 for a word for prayer
00:46:28.340 which is funny
00:46:32.040 because
00:46:32.300 that's why this town
00:46:35.040 is the way it is 0.99
00:46:35.900 prayer
00:46:36.340 sincere
00:46:37.320 honest
00:46:37.960 non-judgmental
00:46:39.260 humble
00:46:40.120 prayer
00:46:41.400 nobody in this little town
00:46:54.540 is perfect
00:46:55.720 they have bad tempers
00:47:00.480 and bad knees
00:47:01.400 and teenagers
00:47:02.120 that roll their eyes
00:47:03.540 right up until somebody
00:47:05.200 rolls out the sod
00:47:06.220 what they have isn't perfection
00:47:12.200 in fact it's humility
00:47:15.460 they bowed their heads long enough
00:47:20.020 to find the one thing that actually
00:47:22.220 can make a person better
00:47:24.040 than he or she is
00:47:25.600 and then they got up
00:47:28.260 off their knees and they went to work
00:47:29.680 that's why I love little towns
00:47:34.040 i couldn't wait to get out of my little town when i was a kid
00:47:38.380 there's nothing happening here yes that's the point
00:47:41.760 this little town understands something that most of america has forgotten and everybody wants to
00:47:52.420 live in a town like that i think almost nobody wants to be the kind of person however that makes
00:47:56.980 a town like that you know these folks know that if if what they do doesn't match what they
00:48:03.820 want, then they'll never have it. Not eventually. No, no, no. Not ever. If your actions don't match
00:48:13.060 your wishes, you don't have a wish. You have a complaint. Why isn't my town like this? Well,
00:48:20.320 are you like this? Honestly, I just wish all the people who thought like me kind of lived in this
00:48:29.200 town, but I'm never going to tell you the name of this town because, well, partly because
00:48:34.700 of security, but partly because I spent a few days last winter in a town called Franklin,
00:48:41.700 Tennessee, and it felt like my town, felt like a town I'd love to live in.
00:48:47.760 But now people from all over the country, mainly California, are moving in, and there's
00:48:54.120 a clock on it.
00:48:54.760 You watch, there's a clock, because it happens.
00:48:56.900 People fall in love with a place, but not with what made it.
00:49:02.080 They love the waving and the quiet Sundays and the lawn that appears in an hour.
00:49:07.820 And they figure out, oh, and you know what?
00:49:09.620 They're very religious.
00:49:10.600 It's kind of a quaint little custom, like an accent. 1.00
00:49:13.760 It's charming, but religious people are weird. 1.00
00:49:17.120 I mean 1.00
00:49:24.060 it's just one of those little quirks
00:49:28.980 until everybody moves in and it dies out
00:49:31.180 and then you're like wait
00:49:32.320 I thought that was optional
00:49:34.000 it's not optional
00:49:34.960 it's not optional 0.99
00:49:36.860 the religious people are the ones that usually make it
00:49:39.760 like that quaint little town 1.00
00:49:41.040 it's in the water 0.96
00:49:42.080 my sister can buy a lawn by the roll
00:49:49.480 comes off the truck green and perfect 0.91
00:49:52.140 and it's grown on somebody else's farm
00:49:56.360 but if nobody waters it
00:49:58.600 it's brown within two weeks
00:49:59.900 it's dead
00:50:00.880 it only lives if it sends down the roots
00:50:05.420 into new soil
00:50:06.620 you can't move into a little town like this
00:50:11.160 and unroll it over your life.
00:50:14.800 You have to grow it.
00:50:18.820 So I'm never going to give you the address of this town.
00:50:21.960 I'm sorry.
00:50:23.200 I know there's a lot of people who love to live in a town like this,
00:50:25.620 and good for you.
00:50:27.880 Go find one.
00:50:29.300 I don't trust the Californians.
00:50:31.520 I don't trust the people who are like, 1.00
00:50:33.240 I like this, but I just don't like the religious people. 1.00
00:50:38.040 Okay. 1.00
00:50:38.480 you don't need the address anyway
00:50:42.140 you need the habit
00:50:42.920 because somewhere on your street 1.00
00:50:44.700 there's a widow with a yard full of leaves
00:50:48.780 there's an old guy
00:50:50.400 who should not be raking the leaves anymore
00:50:52.720 there's a new family that doesn't know a soul
00:50:57.380 a man whose fence blew down
00:51:00.900 in the last storm
00:51:01.920 start waving at the cars that go by
00:51:09.220 and then show up unasked
00:51:12.760 and don't check what church they go to
00:51:15.920 or what's on their bumper
00:51:17.660 leave before they can pay you
00:51:20.540 and if you're the one with the pallets in the driveway
00:51:24.140 and they do show up, buy pizza
00:51:25.960 i don't know if we can ever fix our big towns because i think this was the problem this is
00:51:35.940 when america lost itself when we moved into the big cities and we became industrialized
00:51:40.380 we stopped depending on one another we stopped i said to you earlier today the loneliest place
00:51:46.540 i've ever lived is new york city and i lived with seven million neighbors nobody knew each other
00:51:53.880 i know how this country was built in the first place and it wasn't built from the top down
00:52:02.360 it was raised one barn at a time by people who prayed and then picked up the other end of the
00:52:09.140 beam. I don't know how to fix everything. I'm convinced if we fix ourselves in faith,
00:52:25.240 it'll be the small towns that just may be where America comes back from.
00:52:31.560 my sister spent 0.94
00:52:38.520 decades on a street where 1.00
00:52:40.620 she had to earn her way in
00:52:43.940 or just by agreeing
00:52:46.200 you know
00:52:46.880 she moves 10 miles from me 1.00
00:52:50.740 and was handed a lawn for showing up
00:52:53.360 Tanya said to me as we were driving away
00:53:00.100 from visiting my sister just the other day.
00:53:04.120 She said, you know, if we would have moved here,
00:53:06.360 I wouldn't have moved anywhere else in my life.
00:53:08.980 And I'm like, are you kidding me?
00:53:10.200 Do you know what that beach house cost me?
00:53:12.000 I could have gotten it for this.
00:53:16.540 She's like, I would have left.
00:53:18.840 And I said, I know, I know.
00:53:21.140 It's the neighbors.
00:53:22.280 That's all that matters.
00:53:24.340 It's the neighbors.
00:53:25.200 I'm just grateful we live close enough
00:53:30.660 I get to wave
00:53:31.860 and to my sister
00:53:35.240 welcome home
