00:01:00.240 So today's podcast, we've got a couple of things. First of all, I wanted to take on
00:01:04.660 why are we bombing these boats, you know, off of Venezuela? Everybody says it's a drug war. I have a
00:01:11.380 different theory and I think it's the new Monroe Doctrine and I'll explain that which leads me also
00:01:17.960 to what is happening with gold. Are we being reborn? Are we watching it burn to the ground?
00:01:26.940 I'll explain. And again, a different theory you're not going to hear anyplace else. And we also talk a
00:01:33.340 little bit about what's happening at the White House. Everybody's, oh, Abraham Lincoln, they're
00:01:37.280 taking his bones and they're throwing him outside in the fountain out front. No, they're not. No,
00:01:44.220 they're not. He's making changes to the White House. Why and what that means. All of that and
00:01:50.020 so much more on today's Best Up podcast. First, every front door you pass tells a story. Some
00:01:56.480 belong to people who just moved in. They're still living out of boxes and, you know, making plans.
00:02:01.100 Other families like mine are packing up years of memories and trying to figure out, okay,
00:02:05.260 what comes next? How do we, how do we live without the kids in the house? You know, buying or selling

00:03:37.960 big tech's algorithm to reach more Americans who need to hear the truth. This isn't a podcast.

00:03:53.780 Together, we'll make a difference. And thanks for standing with us. Now let's get to work.
00:04:03.060 You're listening to the best of the Glenn Beck program. Before I start this on gold, I want to
00:04:12.560 ask you, what is Donald Trump? Is Donald Trump a guy who likes to cut the spending? No. He believes
00:04:22.460 in debt, right? But what he believes in more than debt is growing the bottom line. So you grow your way
00:04:31.220 out of things. So keep that in mind as I'm trying to make sense of gold. And what I'm going to share
00:04:39.220 with you is just a theory. I think I might be right on this, but I don't know. Okay. Gold is
00:04:47.340 rocketing. You know, it's now almost, what is it? 43 or $4,400 an ounce today. And I've always told
00:04:56.280 you, you don't want to see a world with $5,000 an ounce gold. That is when $5,000 an ounce happens.
00:05:03.340 That means the trust is going away for the financial system and the financial markets.
00:05:09.160 The dollar is starting to weaken and the world is sending a signal. We don't trust any of this
00:05:18.360 anymore. Now that may be true. That may be true. But let me take you to another place because maybe
00:05:27.840 something that is happening that doesn't fit that script because you're dealing with something new.
00:05:34.960 You're dealing with Donald Trump. So I think behind all of it, there is a new strategy that is taking
00:05:44.560 shape in Washington. Congress, you know, doesn't have the stomach to cut any of the spending.
00:05:52.620 And Donald Trump believes the opposite. Grow your way out. Okay. So that's a recipe for deficit that
00:05:59.540 is really quite frightening. But there is someone, and I think it's Besson, who is finding a way to
00:06:07.700 pull down the deficit without the usual political bloodshed. One of the misunderstood tools in that
00:06:16.780 strategy is something that you're going to be amazed that it hasn't happened before. It is
00:06:23.300 the revaluation of gold. Right now, the government values its gold reserves. We have 260 million Troy
00:06:32.960 ounces. And that's what they say. Officially, we might have none, but we have 260 million Troy ounces,
00:06:40.520 but we only value it at $35 an ounce. Why? Because that's the price FDR in the 1930s set gold at and
00:06:52.500 said it's worth $35 an ounce. That hasn't changed. So on paper, that means the government, all of our gold
00:07:00.520 gold that we have on paper, the whole gold hoard is only worth $9 billion. So, okay, so wait a minute,
00:07:08.940 but the market price today is almost $4,500, which would make that $9 billion actually worth $1.1 trillion.
00:07:17.520 Now think about that. The United States is sitting on a trillion dollar asset, and we don't even count it.
00:07:23.940 Why does this matter? I want you to think of your home. Imagine you're going into a bank,
00:07:33.580 and you want to go buy a car, okay? And you have your salary, and you're in debt, and you're just
00:07:39.520 barely making it. But your home on paper has only been valued at $5,000, because when your parents
00:07:47.840 bought it all those years ago, it was $5,000, you know, and now you're sitting here, and it hasn't changed
00:07:54.860 in value. It has in reality, but you're still counting it as the bank and saying, yeah, well, my grandfather
00:08:01.080 and my father paid $5,000 for this, and so it's worth $5,000. You know, the bank would know, no, it's not.
00:08:08.820 It's worth a million dollars today. What changes if this is called mark-to-market? This is a usual thing.
00:08:18.240 You mark the price to what the market value is. Your price of your house goes down. You are poorer
00:08:25.880 on paper because the value of your house has gone down, and it's marked-to-market.
00:08:30.940 If your price, if the price has gone from $35 an ounce to $4,500 an ounce, then you mark-to-market
00:08:42.320 and everything changes. Suddenly, if that's your house, $5,000 to a million dollars, now you can buy
00:08:47.920 that new car. You walk into the bank, and you're like, I'm going to buy a $50,000 car, and they're
00:08:52.500 like, well, let me see your assets, and you're like, oh, well, you have a house that's been paid off,
00:08:55.960 and it's worth a million dollars. Where yesterday, it was worth $5,000. Today, it's worth a million dollars,
00:09:00.940 because it's actually worth that if you sold it, and so the bank goes like, oh, you're
00:09:05.880 fine. You're fine. Yeah, sure. Here's $50,000. Go buy that car. Suddenly, your profile looks
00:09:11.620 different overnight, okay? That is what I believe is coming in America. I believe they're going
00:09:19.640 to revalue gold, that without raising taxes, without cutting a single program, it would instantly
00:09:27.400 improve the nation's balance sheet. Our debt-to-asset ratio would shift dramatically. Have you noticed
00:09:33.720 in the last year, everybody's like, their debt-to-asset ratio is way out of whack, and they're
00:09:41.600 now 125%, whatever it is, okay? That would change. The dollar would legitimately appear to be stronger,
00:09:50.780 and the deficit, at least on paper, would shrink. Now, add to that, again, what Donald Trump believes,
00:09:59.960 and you may not agree with it, but he believes, I can grow the economy. So, you combine that with
00:10:06.360 the H-1B visa fees, you do the tariffs expected, you know, to bring in money, and then also the expected
00:10:15.920 $8 to $12 trillion in foreign capital investments that are flowing into the United States, if all of
00:10:23.380 that is real, suddenly, the picture doesn't look quite so desperate, because it looks like we are
00:10:31.600 growing again, and we actually would be growing again. The debt doesn't shrink by cutting, it shrinks
00:10:38.400 by growing. It shrinks by growing the economy and expanding the economy beneath it. That's Trump's
00:10:48.220 mark. That's always what he's believed in. So, while I've been sitting here going, you don't want $5,000
00:10:54.580 of gold, you don't, but it also might be a good thing. Let me give you this. There's more.
00:11:02.240 Washington is floating the idea, and Mike Lee got hammered for this, but this is a Besant idea.
00:11:11.940 Mike Lee is floating the idea of selling off portions of vast federal portfolio. We have all
00:11:18.820 this land. These are not national parks. We have millions of acres of unproductive and unused territory.
00:11:27.280 I have known this from central bankers for 20 years, that they actually have said,
00:11:35.400 we should sell the national parks. You know, I don't want you selling the national parks. What are you
00:11:39.560 talking about? No, we're not selling the national parks. But that's not what they're talking about.
00:11:44.700 They're talking about cutting the inefficiency out of every department and taking land that is
00:11:53.060 unusable and sellable, that the government is holding and doesn't need to hold, selling that
00:11:59.860 land, okay, which would allow us to build more houses, expand, etc., etc., and increase the bottom
00:12:09.220 line on the ballot sheet. Suddenly, with all of this, the pressure valves are opened up, okay?
00:12:18.520 Also put in here, nobody seems to be panicking about the government shutdown. And what is the
00:12:25.980 government shutdown doing? What is Besant hoping he gets an opportunity to do? Cut.
00:12:34.260 So now you're expanding with gold, the possibility of selling federal land at some point. You're bringing
00:12:41.680 in $12 trillion of investment. You're getting the raw earth minerals from Venezuela and from South
00:12:50.240 America and elsewhere in the world. You've solved our military peace problem. We're no longer the
00:12:56.340 world's policemen, so we're not having to do all of that stuff, which is a drain on blood and treasure.
00:13:01.500 All of a sudden, you're starting to see that America is actually shoring itself up.
00:13:10.440 So what looks like chaos right now may actually be a controlled implosion of a broken system.
00:13:19.100 Because remember, this is exactly what the left was going to do. The left through the WEF and the
00:13:24.600 Great Reset, they wanted to implode the system, but they had a safety net that we were going to fall
00:13:30.360 into. And that was a global world order. Donald Trump doesn't believe in the global world order,
00:13:35.140 but he does believe we are in trouble. He knows that. He has a different idea. I think we might be
00:13:44.360 seeing a re-anchoring of America's finances in hard assets, real productivity. And if Besant and the
00:13:55.320 president can pull this off, we may be watching the birth of a building of a new foundation of a new
00:14:03.360 financial order, one where we're re-grounding ourself in value that's actually real. It's dangerous
00:14:15.100 if confidence breaks, if the terrorists who are already here, thank you Joe Biden,
00:14:21.840 manage to disrupt the perception of reality. If we start having real trouble on our streets
00:14:30.260 and we go unstable, then the illusion flips. The revaluation becomes a revelation that even gold
00:14:39.260 cannot cover the sins of a government that has just not paid attention for this long. And there's
00:14:45.960 no pretending that. But if we can hold together this fragile unity in our country long enough
00:14:53.700 and they can revalue the system and rejigger the system, keep your eye on gold. It may be the canary
00:15:02.360 in the coal mine. It may be this is real trouble. But remember, not every alarm means disaster. It's how
00:15:10.240 you react to it. I would have told you four years ago, and I did when we said we're gonna we're gonna
00:15:17.360 kick Russia and China off the swift system. That's a really bad idea. Because you have no plan, you have
00:15:23.960 no replacement for the swift system. You're now taking the assets of a sovereign country and saying,
00:15:29.780 yeah, we can do that. That will drive the price of the dollar down. People will sell our reserve
00:15:34.960 currencies. And the only thing they had as backup was a global new financial order that none of us
00:15:43.240 wanted. Notice we're not talking about CBDCs. We're talking about gold. This government is talking,
00:15:53.180 Donald Trump is talking about rebalancing and growing, not a global world order.
00:15:59.440 So it could be that the price of gold is, you know, just a fire that could burn out of control,
00:16:09.000 as it would have just a few years ago. And it still may. But it also may be that the rise in gold and
00:16:19.540 what's happening with Donald Trump is a backfire is a, you know, when you when you set fire in a forest fire,
00:16:28.480 and you burn back into it to put it out. This may be a fire that we are setting that could put all of this
00:16:36.400 out. It may, this heat may actually forge something new. Because I think there's real strategy here. When you
00:16:46.340 look at what I talked to you about a minute ago, why are we bombing those boats? That's strategy for
00:16:53.120 something bigger. That's not, that's not a war on drugs. It's not. That's strategy for something
00:16:59.640 bigger. Knowing that he's resetting the entire world. Knowing that he likes the revaluation of
00:17:07.760 things. And he likes to grow the asset sheet. Knowing he's not a dummy. Knowing that he wants to keep
00:17:19.860 America's sovereignty true. Gold will tell the story, whether it's collapse, or America's rebirth.
00:17:29.840 One way or another. We're going to know soon. We're going to know soon. Watch gold.
00:17:40.600 Let me tell you about American financing, your hard work. You know, every day you come out,
00:17:45.060 you come home after a hard day's work, you get paid, you pay your bills. And sometimes the number
00:17:48.800 just never seems to moon. It's like it's like you're, it's like you're running on a treadmill,
00:17:52.920 nothing moves. And that treadmill is built by the banks and you're exhausted, but you haven't gone
00:17:57.420 anywhere. American financing is there to change that. They're a family owned company that works
00:18:02.780 for you, not off you. They look at your mortgage, your credit cards, your loans. They help build a
00:18:08.380 plan that will help you get, you know, get free faster from all of those chains, sometimes years
00:18:14.040 faster. So what makes them different is the mission. They believe homeowners deserve more of
00:18:19.360 their homes and less of the stress. And when you call them, you're talking to real people who listen,
00:18:24.360 uh, who, who want to help you and they've helped people all over the country, find breathing room
00:18:30.480 again. Imagine what life would be like if your money actually worked for you. If every payment
00:18:35.160 moved you closer to owning your future instead of just paying for your past, that's what American
00:18:40.780 financing does. They turn someday into right now because you don't have to live in fear of debt
00:18:45.720 forever. Not when freedom has a phone number. And here it is 800-906-2440, 800-906-2440.
00:18:55.020 It's Americanfinancing.net. Now back to the podcast. This is the best of the Glenn Beck
00:19:00.480 program. And we really want to thank you for listening.
00:19:05.220 Okay. So when we talk about the war on drugs, most people just kind of roll their eyes. Okay.
00:19:09.700 We've been talking about the war on drugs forever and it doesn't make any difference at all.
00:19:13.100 So another failed campaign, another round of speeches, another generation is caught in the
00:19:17.460 crossfire. But what if I told you that the drug war that you're actually watching today
00:19:22.340 has almost nothing to do with cocaine or fentanyl? I think the average person would go,
00:19:30.560 yep, that sounds true. And I believe it is. It has everything to do with oil and minerals and the
00:19:39.040 rebirth of American sovereignty. What you have to understand about Donald Trump is he is reshaping
00:19:45.580 everything. Just as the WEF said, we're going to go for the great reset. We're going to reshape the
00:19:51.820 world. He's doing that single-handedly. He is taking on everything and reshaping the world
00:19:59.920 to have a stronger America and one that is protected, not mired in endless wars and strong
00:20:11.020 financially and militarily so we can protect ourself with American sovereignty. So what's taking place
00:20:18.620 right now in South America is not a narcotics operation. Again, this is my opinion. You know, I was
00:20:25.920 talking about it yesterday and I'm like, it's like the Monroe Doctrine. This may be as important as the
00:20:30.980 Monroe Doctrine, which the Monroe Doctrine was in this hemisphere, don't screw with any of our allies.
00:20:38.620 You're not going to put, you know, you're not going to put enemy ships and you're not going to play
00:20:44.800 around with countries in our hemisphere. This is our hemisphere. America is supreme in this hemisphere.
00:20:51.140 You do your own thing. But then we kind of got weak on that and now China is all over.
00:20:57.620 Russia was all over the southern part of the western hemisphere. So what he's doing is he's
00:21:06.400 putting a new Monroe Doctrine together. That's Donald Trump. Now look at the map. You really have to
00:21:16.240 look at it because I could say imagine the map and nobody can imagine them. Venezuela, Guyana,
00:21:21.860 Colombia. Okay. Three names you almost never heard anything about on cable news five years ago. And
00:21:29.240 suddenly they're the front page priorities for Washington, D.C. and our military. What?
00:21:35.800 Well, they're smuggling drugs. Well, yeah, they might be. But they're also doing a lot of other
00:21:41.160 things, including, as we told you, terrorist island in Venezuela. They have Hamas and Iran
00:21:46.460 in Venezuela. But whoever controls this little triangle controls the western hemisphere and
00:21:54.620 controls the western hemisphere's future. It's energy, it's minerals, and it's manufacturing
00:22:02.360 independence. And Venezuela is the fulcrum. Okay. It holds the largest crude reserves on earth
00:22:10.260 and it's oil that is perfectly suited for America's Gulf Coast refineries. But China and Russia have
00:22:18.440 been moving in. They're like vultures sitting there offering loans and sweetheart deals to Venezuela.
00:22:23.560 And Venezuela has become more and more communist and more and more hostile to America. And they are
00:22:30.080 trying to mortgage that entire system to Beijing's state-run oil giants. So what are we doing? Well,
00:22:37.760 we haven't done anything about it. We've just let them go in. Now, all of a sudden, we're doing Navy
00:22:44.920 drills in the Caribbean. And we're doing sanctions. We are moving more ships and more naval assets.
00:22:54.040 I mean, it is a full-fledged onslaught. We are sending a message. And I don't know we're sending a
00:23:01.100 message just to the drug lords. Okay. This is a pressure campaign that kind of looks like the old
00:23:07.820 drug war, but is really, I believe, designed to crowd out the Chinese influence. This is about
00:23:16.160 keeping Venezuela's energy in the western family, not letting it become another victim of the Belt and
00:23:23.920 Road initiative and a pawn of China. Then there's Guyana, which I thought was in the other hemisphere.
00:23:32.680 I had no idea it was on this continent that's, you know, just below us, apparently called South
00:23:38.500 America. It's tiny. It is quiet and suddenly a gold rush of oil. Now, an American company,
00:23:49.880 ExxonMobil, leads the charge there. And Washington isn't just helping fight traffickers. It's defending
00:23:57.880 America's offshore platforms. They're building radar networks. They're locking down the entire coast
00:24:05.080 because it's not just about barrels. It's about cables. It's about information. It's about pipelines.
00:24:13.080 It's about rare earth minerals. All of those things are going to power the next century.
00:24:19.880 And then Columbia, we know, because that was the first thing that all of a sudden Donald Trump
00:24:23.860 started talking about the, about Columbia and then the Panama Canal. And everybody's like,
00:24:28.000 what are we talking about? Where are we back in 1958? No, nobody had talked about, nobody had paid
00:24:32.160 attention to it. This guy is so far ahead of the curve. He is so far over the horizon. I don't think
00:24:39.100 people really understand what he's doing. Columbia is the hinge between the Caribbean and the Pacific.
00:24:45.880 So we were told for decades that the U.S. military presence there was about fighting the cartels.
00:24:52.860 Maybe. But I think the truth is that Columbia is the geographic and logistical bridge between
00:25:00.780 the hemispheres. Okay. It guards both oceans. It buffers the Panama Canal. It sits atop minerals
00:25:09.880 every modern economy needs now. Lithium, rare earth, all of this stuff. You control Columbia
00:25:17.400 and you control the Western Hemisphere's arteries. Now that's not drug interdiction.
00:25:25.140 That's grand strategy. This hour, I kind of want to make sense of the world for you in two things.
00:25:31.700 And it all hinges around a theory that I'm peddling. A theory, and I could be wrong on this,
00:25:40.600 that when I look at all of the dots, they don't make sense. You know, this is about that submarine
00:25:47.740 with cocaine in it. Really? Is it? We're sending our entire military out to get the submarine?
00:25:53.760 I mean, I want drugs to stop. I get it. But really? Doesn't make sense to me. So the dots don't make sense.
00:26:01.020 And there's too many up on the board that just don't make sense unless you start to frame it in
00:26:05.960 another direction. And I did this last night with not only South America and what we're doing with
00:26:11.280 Venezuela and the, quote, drug war, but also gold. And so I want to finish this in a minute. And I want
00:26:18.140 to move to gold because I want to tell you, I think there is a grand strategy here that everyone
00:26:25.040 is missing. Okay. So why does all of this matter? Trump is the first president since Reagan, I think,
00:26:33.820 to understand that America's strength doesn't come from endless foreign wars. It comes from owning the
00:26:39.280 supply lines, from building the sovereign trade, the energy, the technology pipelines, all of the stuff
00:26:46.540 that runs all the way through our hemisphere, not Beijing. So he's not trying to make America the
00:26:54.560 world's policeman anymore. He's not doing that. He's making us the secure citadel. He is forcing
00:27:02.500 every region, Europe. Think about what he's done with NATO. What is he doing? We're not going to be
00:27:08.620 your policeman anymore. You got to step up to the plate. You got to do it. The Middle East, we're not
00:27:13.380 going to be policemen here anymore. All of you Arabs, you do it. You get together. You make peace.
00:27:18.980 He's brokering peace and also saying to the rest of the world, you need to step up. And he's doing it
00:27:25.120 in Latin America to the police themselves. Every move you see, sanctions, seizures, aid freezes, even visa
00:27:34.680 crackdowns. This is all I believe about locking down critical resources before China does. This is
00:27:42.080 economic warfare disguised as moral policing. Okay. And the irony is, it may be one of the smartest
00:27:49.940 uses of the drug war apparatus we've ever seen. This one actually might work and do something.
00:27:57.640 So let me tell you something that nobody else is telling. Let me give you what everybody else is
00:28:01.260 missing. This is not about ideology. This is not about drugs. This is about global architecture.
00:28:10.360 Trump is tearing down the old corrupt order, the W.E.F. Great Reset corrupt global order,
00:28:22.560 and he is building one not on dependency and debt and endless intervention. He's chopping the trees
00:28:32.460 down. He's paving a road, and he's laying the asphalt for a new one, a hemisphere that produces its own
00:28:40.140 energy, defends its own borders, works together, and reclaims the American right to chart its own
00:28:48.060 destiny while encouraging all other countries to do exactly the same. And he's making as many allies
00:28:56.480 as he can in any way he can. That's what's really happening, I think, behind the headlines. While
00:29:02.980 everybody else is like, should we do this? Before you talk about a drug war, ask yourself, does that
00:29:10.980 make sense? Now, to everybody who is, you know, no kings, yeah, that might make sense, because you're
00:29:17.700 not thinking anyway. I invite you to look at a much bigger picture. We know the rest of the world was
00:29:26.160 way down this path of a new global world government and a global world order. We also know Donald Trump
00:29:34.460 was never for that. We know that Donald Trump doesn't like wars. So why do we have the military
00:29:41.380 Venezuela, of all places? Because this is not about chasing smugglers through jungles. This is about chasing
00:29:51.680 China and Russia out of our own backyard. It is a quiet, strategic, and I think, if I'm right on this,
00:30:01.400 a brilliant reset. Because if Trump succeeds, historians are going to look back at this time
00:30:09.840 and call it for what it truly is, the second Monroe Doctrine. The moment America stopped apologizing
00:30:17.200 for defending its own hemisphere and began rebuilding its own sovereignty.
00:30:25.440 Trump believes in a strong America, America first. That doesn't mean we're going to leave
00:30:30.220 every other country alone. It just means we have to do the things that we have to do to make sure
00:30:36.640 that we are strong enough and strengthen the countries around us as well and the countries that
00:30:42.460 we have been protecting all these years give them the impetus and also the ability to come together
00:30:52.000 in their own regions and rebuild and protect their own sovereignty, one barrel, one chip, one border
00:30:59.300 at a time. Now, I have been warning you about $5,000 gold forever.
00:31:05.860 And there are two ways this gold rush could go. Let me give you one way that it could go. And then
00:31:16.400 after spending a few days talking to some people who think differently and saying, I don't understand
00:31:25.200 what's happening here because everything would tell me that this is a flight to safety, which I believe
00:31:32.200 it is. But it is the central banks that are buying up most of this gold. And it's the West. So are they
00:31:42.700 getting away from America or is something else happening? So there's two ways the gold story goes
00:31:48.920 really, really badly. Or is it something strategic again from the Trump administration? And the reason
00:31:59.140 why I'm on this is because I, I sent an email to the office of Besson and I said, okay, I'm kind of
00:32:06.200 freaking out about $5,000 an ounce gold. What's happening? No comment. Just sent a story to me.
00:32:14.660 That's all he did. His response from somebody in his office was just a story.
00:32:19.720 At first, I didn't understand. What is he trying to tell me here? I want to share with you what I
00:32:28.560 think I'm getting on gold. And it actually, like the drug war thing, when you reframe it and you're
00:32:37.420 looking at it from a different perspective, it actually might be really, really good.
00:32:42.660 This is the best of the Glenn Beck program.
00:32:51.620 Welcome to the Glenn Beck program. I'm glad you're here.
00:32:55.240 Thank you so much for listening. You know, Stu is like freaking out about the White House.
00:32:59.720 I'm not freaking out. I just think it's an interesting,
00:33:03.540 I thought there would be a more of a process to something like this.
00:33:07.060 Nope. Because I do not think at this point, the American people understand what is about to
00:33:12.480 happen, which is like the White House is about to double in size. Just by my eyeball, look at it,
00:33:21.800 it looks like it's going to maybe be more than two times the size. It's going to be large,
00:33:28.360 but it's not the actual White House. It is part of the East Wing.
00:33:32.400 That's a totally misleading commentary.
00:33:36.700 No, it's not, because the White House is the original piece from the 1700s.
00:33:40.660 Okay, that's the center house. The East Wing and the West Wing was not done until FDR.
00:33:47.880 They were added later.
00:33:49.680 The biggest change to the White House in the last, well, since FDR,
00:33:54.600 and it happened in our lifetime, right after 9-11,
00:33:58.060 the White House became enormous, but it was all underground.
00:34:04.400 They completely changed everything underground, and we didn't have a conversation about that at all.
00:34:10.100 Well, but it's because it's underground.
00:34:12.920 I assume all sorts of things are happening underground,
00:34:16.280 our well-known monuments and buildings.
00:34:18.820 But this is a, like, it's not a, they keep saying this,
00:34:25.320 though, they're going to be changing the West Wing.
00:34:27.240 That's not what they're doing.
00:34:28.080 No, East Wing.
00:34:28.640 The East Wing, sorry.
00:34:29.280 They're going to be changing the East Wing.
00:34:30.580 That's not what they're doing.
00:34:31.560 This is like doubling the size of the White House.
00:34:33.460 Now, I'm not opposed to that idea.
00:34:36.440 I'm just sort of surprised that it wasn't like a big conversation and a bill.
00:34:43.460 Okay, all right, okay, okay, all right.
00:34:44.880 You ready?
00:34:45.300 Yes.
00:34:45.940 So was Donald Trump.
00:34:47.920 What do you mean?
00:34:48.260 So I'm in the White House with him, and I'm up in the private quarters with him,
00:34:54.200 and he's showing me some things that he is doing and talking to me about some other things
00:35:00.280 that I can't talk about because he doesn't want, I don't know why.
00:35:05.640 He didn't want to discuss it.
00:35:06.240 I didn't want to discuss it, and I don't know why, because it's all really good stuff.
00:35:09.760 But anyway, so we're talking about it, and then he brings up the ballroom,
00:35:15.600 and we're walking down the stairs from the residence, and we're going into the ballroom,
00:35:20.860 and he says, you know, there's the ballroom that Abraham Lincoln had dinner.
00:35:23.480 And I said, you know, it's that window over there that Frederick Douglass opened up the window
00:35:28.140 and had to crawl in because they wouldn't let him in because he was black.
00:35:31.540 And Abraham Lincoln's like, let him in.
00:35:32.820 He's my friend.
00:35:33.720 Why is he coming through the window?
00:35:36.120 And we were talking about all the history of the ballroom and that it's very, very small
00:35:40.600 because it was built in the 1700s, and we keep using that ballroom.
00:35:45.460 And he's like, you've got to have a bigger ballroom.
00:35:47.460 We have it out in the wet and the cold and the rain and yada, yada, yada.
00:35:51.920 And so he said, we come over to a window, and he's like, right there.
00:35:56.920 I've got to build a big, beautiful ballroom, and it's going to be better than anybody thinks.
00:36:01.820 It's going to be the biggest, most beautiful ballroom in all.
00:36:04.320 And I'm like, you know, I'm just trying not to laugh, you know,
00:36:06.460 because that's the way he describes it.
00:36:08.660 And he said, you know, I was surprised I could do that.
00:36:12.920 And I said, I bet.
00:36:14.160 How long is that going to take?
00:36:15.940 What's that process like?
00:36:17.080 And he's like, right.
00:36:17.860 That's what I asked.
00:36:18.800 He said, I went to the, I don't know, Chief Usher or somebody,
00:36:23.080 whoever's in charge of the White House.
00:36:24.360 I think it's the Chief Usher.
00:36:25.740 He said, I think we should have a ballroom.
00:36:27.660 And he's like, what do I do?
00:36:28.820 And he said, well, you just have to talk to the architect.
00:36:32.180 So he went to the White House architect.
00:36:33.420 Now, this is the guy who makes sure the integrity of the White House stays, okay?
00:36:37.440 Like, you can't make it into a modern house, okay?
00:36:40.700 You're not going to redesign the inside and say,
00:36:42.800 you can add some gold, I guess.
00:36:44.640 You can add a lot of gold, I guess.
00:36:45.880 But you can't make it into like, you know, you can't wreck the integrity of the White House.
00:36:51.280 And he said, you know, I just put these flagpoles in.
00:36:55.040 And he's like, all I had to say was, I want to put some flagpoles in.
00:36:58.080 And they're like, yes, sir, where?
00:36:59.680 He's like, what?
00:37:02.120 And he's like, one in the front, one in the back.
00:37:04.100 And they're like, okay, just tell us where.
00:37:06.020 So he went out to the yard and was like, right here, right there.
00:37:09.480 And they put them up.
00:37:11.080 And so he's talking to the White House architect.
00:37:15.540 And he said, we've got to have a ballroom.
00:37:17.280 And I think we should have it over here.
00:37:18.840 The East Wing is big, beautiful.
00:37:21.540 And he said, but what is this going to take?
00:37:24.160 And he's like, well, it's going to be very expensive.
00:37:26.740 Are you expecting the people to pay?
00:37:28.160 And he's like, no, I'll raise the money for it.
00:37:29.880 I'll pay for it.
00:37:30.660 And I'll raise the money extra.
00:37:32.300 So American people are not going to pay for it.
00:37:34.140 And the architect said, well, then all you have to do is sign the permits.
00:37:38.840 And he's like, what?
00:37:40.220 And he said, well, you have to go through the permitting process.
00:37:43.900 And he said, how long is that going to take?
00:37:46.480 And he's like, well, the president is the one who controls the process and signs the permit.
00:37:52.960 So as short as you'd like it to be, Mr. President, he's like, are you kidding me?
00:37:58.380 And he looked at me.
00:37:59.040 He's like, I'll have this done by spring of next year.
00:38:01.580 So he can change it.
00:38:06.560 What you have to understand is the east wing and the west wing, those are FDR.
00:38:15.640 So FDR went into a works project, and he added those wings.
00:38:21.240 The east wing is where the first ladies' offices are.
00:38:25.020 The east wing is like, you know, it's just the east wing.
00:38:29.560 Are you showing shade at the east wing?
00:38:34.020 Yeah, I am.
00:38:35.500 But anyway, and so what he's doing is he's taking some of it down, and he's going to link it to the ballroom.
00:38:43.780 And the ballroom is going to be the biggest beautiful ballroom in Washington, D.C.
00:38:48.020 It's going to link from there.
00:38:49.680 So you'll walk, if you're in the White House, you'll walk from the front door through the dining room, or the east dining room.
00:38:59.520 You'll go into the east wing, and you'll go to the ballroom.
00:39:03.480 I'm looking at the renderings as we speak, and that's exactly it.
00:39:06.760 I've not even seen the renderings.
00:39:08.060 Oh, you haven't seen them?
00:39:08.680 No, I just had him describe it to me.
00:39:11.360 Can I see it?
00:39:12.600 No.
00:39:13.200 Oh.
00:39:13.360 They're mine.
00:39:14.340 It's my computer.
00:39:15.600 This is the – I can't obviously show it to the people here, but you can see it over here.
00:39:21.280 It's big, beautiful.
00:39:22.280 What a surprise.
00:39:22.940 The tables are golden.
00:39:24.600 Yeah.
00:39:24.920 By the way –
00:39:26.360 It's amazing.
00:39:27.240 It's different.
00:39:28.660 Holy cow.
00:39:29.300 My conversation about whether this is the – you can't.
00:39:36.340 It's already zoomed in.
00:39:37.060 I mean, they're not the best images.
00:39:38.980 Here.
00:39:39.660 There's nothing wrong with that.
00:39:40.780 What's wrong with that?
00:39:41.480 It looks just like the white – it fits.
00:39:43.760 It's appropriate.
00:39:44.380 I was in the middle of saying – my conversation on this is not whether it looks good or is
00:39:51.980 appropriate or anything.
00:39:53.420 Like, I actually think his point on the ballroom is so obvious every president should have been
00:39:59.440 making it.
00:40:00.100 The fact is that we don't have a big room to have state dinners in, unless you wanted
00:40:04.560 to do them off campus somewhere else.
00:40:06.220 Right.
00:40:06.560 You have to have that, and why not have it at the White House?
00:40:09.760 It makes a lot of sense.
00:40:10.920 Except I don't want to pay for it.
00:40:12.520 I don't.
00:40:12.780 As a citizen, I don't want a dime going for it.
00:40:14.740 You know what?
00:40:15.520 Hey, all you Frenchies, you're going to eat on the lawn.
00:40:17.940 Literally on the lawn.
00:40:19.180 On the lawn.
00:40:19.480 I mean, I would just throw the food out on the lawn.
00:40:22.300 Yeah.
00:40:22.800 I mean, I'm fine with that.
00:40:24.060 But if he wants to pay for it, if he wants to get rich people to pay for it, go for it.
00:40:28.520 I don't want any of my tax dollars going to it.
00:40:31.000 Right.
00:40:32.120 So my criticism is not how it looks or that we need it.
00:40:35.140 I actually, they showed the inside of it, and it seems like the type of facility we should
00:40:38.600 have for these types of events.
00:40:41.540 We're going to have them somewhere.
00:40:43.060 Yeah.
00:40:43.860 Why not have them there?
00:40:45.140 And who better to build it than one of the best builders of all time?
00:40:50.880 We've had this conversation about how you project American power.
00:40:54.740 Yes.
00:40:55.000 And I think Trump's approach to particularly, I mean, we've seen it in the Middle East,
00:40:59.060 but I think it's been effective around the world, of these trappings actually are effective
00:41:04.340 in diplomatic relations with other nations.
00:41:07.720 It's not like just, Donald Trump has a lot of places that are lined in gold.
00:41:10.840 He can have meetings.
00:41:11.860 Yes.
00:41:12.080 It's not like that's what he wants it for.
00:41:13.960 The left tries to portray it as, oh, he just wants a big, he just, of course he does.
00:41:17.240 He wants this big, no, it means something to him, and he knows how these people think.
00:41:21.280 No, no, it, because he, I asked him, I won't tell the whole story.
00:41:29.360 I really want to, really desperately, but, you know, he's gilding everything.
00:41:36.020 And that's not necessarily my favorite look, you know?
00:41:39.360 Right.
00:41:39.580 So, and he came in, Tanya and I were alone in the Oval for a while, and we were talking
00:41:46.980 about it, and he comes in, he says, you know, I'm doing all this.
00:41:50.680 You see all the gold?
00:41:51.640 I'm like, yes, I can't miss it.
00:41:53.260 You can't miss the gold.
00:41:54.660 And he's like, you know, it's so important.
00:41:58.520 These foreign leaders, they all come from palaces, and they don't understand.
00:42:03.500 And I know, you know, the White House is different, America's different, but they understand power
00:42:08.240 in a different way.
00:42:09.740 And he said, they're coming from these old countries and these big buildings and these
00:42:13.940 palaces.
00:42:14.660 And he said, it is important for us to project power.
00:42:18.320 Yes.
00:42:18.880 And that's, and that is, that is why he's doing it.
00:42:21.600 It's not because he likes gold.
00:42:22.900 He's doing it to project power and wealth.
00:42:26.340 Notice how many prime ministers, they're all flying in all the time from all over the
00:42:31.100 world.
00:42:31.960 You know, I've never seen a president meet with so many foreign dignitaries in the White
00:42:35.540 House all the time.
00:42:37.580 Yeah.
00:42:37.720 And the media likes to say, well, that's because he's self-important and he's projecting American
00:42:43.260 power.
00:42:43.920 I think so too.
00:42:44.540 And when I say it's important to him, that's why it's important to him.
00:42:47.520 Because he believes it's an important tool in that world.
00:42:50.920 It's not him.
00:42:51.840 He knows the language they speak and not just body language or, you know, spoken language.
00:43:00.640 All of the entire, that's what protocol is all about.
00:43:04.140 It all means something.
00:43:06.600 And so my criticism, and it's not even criticism, my observation is not whether it fits or whether
00:43:13.140 we need it or whether it's appropriate or my, I don't think my observation here in the
00:43:20.180 group text that we started this with, was just that like, holy crap, I don't think the, I
00:43:24.960 don't think the American people have any idea what's about to happen.
00:43:27.220 Like every time I bring this up to Glenn and you have to understand how these, the
00:43:30.620 conversations work, I say, people are going to look at the White House and it's going
00:43:33.680 to be like totally different.
00:43:34.620 He's like, oh, President Tyler did more than that in 1914.
00:43:39.960 Shut up.
00:43:42.020 That's what I get from Glenn.
00:43:43.320 Oh, well, there was more changes underground.
00:43:47.000 You don't understand the piping.
00:43:49.640 They totally changed the piping back in 1807, you moron.
00:43:58.160 Okay.
00:43:58.740 I'm sorry.
00:43:59.800 I didn't know that.
00:44:00.620 What I think of, and you know, FDR made these changes.
00:44:04.400 My wife, it's been the same pretty much from the outside.
00:44:08.580 I know what the White House looks like.
00:44:09.980 You go up there, you look at the White House.
00:44:11.240 It looks like the White House.
00:44:13.000 It is not going to look like the White House when this is over.
00:44:15.760 It is going to look like the White House plus another White House next to it.
00:44:19.940 And it's going to be, I think, massively impressive, but like, I'm surprised there's
00:44:24.160 not more conversation about the differences.
00:44:25.160 When's the last time you were in Washington, D.C.?
00:44:27.460 The inauguration.
00:44:29.000 So you would not believe the difference in the White House grounds.
00:44:35.320 The difference from, you know, when I went with George Bush, you could stand right at
00:44:40.800 the front gate.
00:44:41.920 Right.
00:44:42.200 You can't do that anymore.
00:44:43.380 They've taken the park.
00:44:45.300 The park in the back is all gone.
00:44:48.100 The security.
00:44:48.960 Just for security reasons.
00:44:50.060 Everything.
00:44:50.320 All of the trees.
00:44:51.560 Everything that has been done to not see the White House except for that iconic front.
00:45:00.300 Yeah.
00:45:00.640 You know what I mean?
00:45:01.240 Mm-hmm.
00:45:01.500 Everything else is not really, you don't see it like you used to anymore.
00:45:08.120 You don't walk up to it anymore.
00:45:09.640 I mean, the last, I was in town for the inauguration.
00:45:12.520 The last time I actually walked by the White House has been a long time.
00:45:15.560 Oh, you would not, you won't recognize it.
00:45:18.300 I mean, just driving by and seeing it.
00:45:20.700 Now, you'll get pictures of it and everything else.
00:45:22.760 But walking by it, today you wouldn't recognize it.
00:45:26.520 It's, what has happened with security is so sad.
00:45:34.480 I mean, I have the bell from the White House front desk.
00:45:39.000 There used to be a little desk right in the front, right as you walk in, there was a desk
00:45:44.700 and a bell.
00:45:45.900 And I have it.
00:45:47.200 I think it is from Tyler's administration.
00:45:50.040 And you'd walk in and you'd hit the bell and you'd say, I want to see the president.
00:45:56.560 And somebody would say, okay, all right, sit over there.
00:45:59.100 And you would wait.
00:46:00.420 You might wait all day, but you got to, you can walk in without an appointment and see
00:46:05.140 the president of the United States.
00:46:06.800 Oh my God.
00:46:07.280 You're not getting in within two blocks of the White House now.
00:46:10.780 It's, it's sad.
00:46:12.120 It's sad what's happening.
00:46:13.360 Yeah.
00:46:13.620 I mean, and for good, again, I wouldn't disagree with that either.
00:46:16.920 It's for good reason, security wise.
00:46:19.080 Yes.
00:46:19.220 But I think of back, Glenn, the classic, I think what everyone thinks of when they think
00:46:23.260 of the White House is of course the scene from Superman 2, where, uh, try to remember
00:46:28.820 where, where they show the White House and it's supposed to be, it's a motion picture,
00:46:33.700 but they were too lazy to actually get video footage of the White House.
00:46:38.040 So it's just a still.
00:46:39.060 And you can tell because there's like, uh, you know, things that should be moving that
00:46:42.740 aren't moving.
00:46:44.100 So is that because on Independence Day, they blew it up?
00:46:48.340 It could be, it could be that.
00:46:49.800 I mean, they only had a picture.
00:46:50.880 They hadn't rebuilt it.
00:46:51.560 But the Independence Day is another good example.
00:46:52.320 Like you have those, that picture of what the White House looks like.
00:46:56.100 Uh, and you know, I guess from certain angles, it's still going to look pretty much the same,
00:47:00.580 right?
00:47:00.700 It is.
00:47:00.960 From the front, you're not going to notice it because it's kind of wrapped around the
00:47:03.280 back.
00:47:03.580 But like that, the back is pretty iconic too.
00:47:06.180 It's not going to look like that anymore.
00:47:07.880 It's going to look in some ways a lot better, more impressive, but it is a major change that
00:47:12.640 I, when you say, hey, they're redoing the West Wing and putting a little ballroom in
00:47:16.420 there.
00:47:16.640 That's not what they're doing.
00:47:17.720 East.
00:47:18.460 Sorry, East Wing.
00:47:19.520 I hate Glenn.
00:47:21.500 I'm only saying it because I know how much he hates it.
00:47:23.900 I hate you.
00:47:24.020 Did you lock the front door?
00:47:31.760 Check.
00:47:32.320 Closed the garage door?
00:47:33.480 Yep.
00:47:33.980 Installed window sensors, smoke sensors, and HD cameras with night vision?
00:47:37.480 No.
00:47:38.280 And you set up credit card transaction alerts, a secure VPN for a private connection, and
00:47:41.860 continuous monitoring for our personal info on the dark web?
00:47:44.760 Uh, I'm looking into it?
00:47:47.280 Stress less about security.
