00:02:36.560 recall the school board san francisco schools are out of control and have been out of control
00:02:43.700 all during this pandemic uh it doesn't seem like they're trying to reopen their schools just rename
00:02:50.440 many of their schools uh two parents decided to uh go and listen to what the school board was doing
00:02:58.120 and they didn't like what they saw and we have them both on the phone shiva raj and uh autumn loyan

00:03:19.940 what was why did you do this why did you get involved what was the first thing that you saw
00:03:25.480 that you were like we gotta stop just sitting on our hands we moved here in december from other
00:03:32.060 school districts and i think for me it was the contrast between the way the school board behaved
00:03:38.400 in my kids school district and the way um the school board here behaves the way it treats parents
00:03:44.980 and the way it communicates with parents is totally different and it really bugs me when the people
00:03:51.280 in charge don't take care of and listen to the people who are their constituents so raj they
00:03:57.660 actually they humiliate uh people who question anything they they're doing don't they yeah it's been
00:04:06.540 really kind of stunning to see them treat parents um push parents away literally i mean i worked on
00:04:13.640 school side councils i volunteered in schools uh and usually schools are like desperate for parents
00:04:19.220 to help out and you know in san francisco parents have been really really eager to roll up our
00:04:23.240 sleeves and help out in every shape possible you know we are happy to kind of you know move into
00:04:27.400 the schools clean them up you know do up the windows etc we know that there is a lot of change
00:04:31.940 that's required for the pandemic uh for safety and we are happy to kind of get involved but they've
00:04:37.880 been pushing us away they've treated parents who volunteered for example there was a gay parent
00:04:42.020 uh who volunteered to be on the parent advisory council which is 50 empty um and they spent two
00:04:48.340 hours just criticizing him in public without even giving him a chance to speak it was just stunning
00:04:53.660 they also and this one drives me nuts because i hear this from all kinds of um quote-unquote experts
00:05:02.520 that the mental health issues are not a problem i know i'm dealing with mental health issues with my
00:05:10.780 kids who have not not been in school up until recently and you can't do that to children you
00:05:19.800 can't really do that to people we are we are social by nature uh and in san francisco they completely
00:05:27.820 deny this right i think it's you know my oldest son is is a freshman in high school and his school
00:05:34.560 experience is just very different he stares into a blank screen all his uh classmates have the
00:05:40.820 cameras turned off right right and so i've seen him actually borderline depressed um he does his
00:05:46.980 entire school from his bed and it's just you know for a parent it's just shattering to see that and he
00:05:52.640 just seems to have lost entirely his desire to learn and he's a good student i mean he used to play
00:05:57.280 football um he was very active and extroverted so you know it's just like a complete change in him
00:06:02.800 and yeah we're seeing you know the for example one of the commissioners in the school board just as
00:06:07.720 recently as february was quoted in you know san francisco chronicle saying you know men the school
00:06:13.340 closures don't cause mental health issues they don't cause learning loss and it's just stunning to see
00:06:18.480 again that there's no recognition it's one thing to say that hey you know we have a pandemic we have
00:06:23.740 to like account for the safety and we have to do get this right to get kids back uh we recognize that
00:06:28.780 there are real challenges that both parents and students and teachers are facing and we want to do
00:06:32.440 the right thing for everyone it's one thing to say that and you know all of us would have totally
00:06:36.160 supported the school board if that was the kind of attitude we saw but the it's been the exact
00:06:41.060 opposite they seem to be completely blind to and unwilling to recognize the real challenges that
00:06:46.380 students and parents are facing in the school district so autumn what is that what is the why i mean
00:06:52.220 there's there's zero public schools in san francisco that were approved free for reopening
00:06:58.820 as of uh february 26th zero yeah yeah i believe as of today they have got six out of 108
00:07:07.480 so what what was the motivation why were they i mean you charged that they they never had any
00:07:14.720 intention at all to open schools this year why i think it just honestly i think it just looks like
00:07:22.600 such a big problem they threw up their hands and they're like let's just pretend it doesn't exist
00:07:26.460 i don't know why else you would do that when it's your responsibility to take care of so many
00:07:30.580 children and get them back to school so they can learn i don't know why else you would not have
00:07:34.740 the school sites ready by you know january at the very least when the schools were originally
00:07:39.260 slated to reopen so you guys went to a school board meeting you listened to it and then you started a
00:07:45.660 i think a facebook page if i'm not mistaken and there are four or five hundred uh families now and
00:07:51.600 parents that are involved in this recall and what has happened so far what changes have you seen just
00:07:59.380 by standing up and doing the basic moves
00:08:02.360 so we have um our facebook group is actually a group for organizing our volunteers and we have over
00:08:11.260 700 people in there we have this army of volunteers who help us whenever we want to learn more about an
00:08:16.880 issue um or that sort of thing yeah and um so do you want to talk about the movement you've seen
00:08:22.260 i'm sorry go ahead what was that question did you ask me a question no no i was i was thinking if
00:08:29.920 you ever wanted to speak too much much going on since um since our recall effort started and uh
00:08:35.860 since the school board has also been sued right kind of at the same time yes um we have seen a little
00:08:41.720 bit of movement um they are talking about reopening now they are saying that reopening is their first
00:08:45.800 priority and they're kind of shelving the other issues for now um and those other those other
00:08:53.280 issues are like the renaming of schools yes okay um and that um and so we've seen um i think on april 12th
00:09:04.660 a few kids are slated to go back in a few schools so it's not all the great it's like i think at 12
00:09:12.720 schools um there's a couple grades that are going back um
00:09:15.800 so that's that's a little bit of progress so i just read a story about a couple in los angeles
00:09:23.940 or a group of parents now that we're meeting uh with barry weiss formerly of the new york times and
00:09:30.420 they were talking about you know you can't use our names you can't put us you know you know on the
00:09:36.960 record because we will lose our kids will suffer from this there will be a campaign against us did that
00:09:43.980 ever concern you or cross your mind well you know one of the things we saw very early on when we're
00:09:50.920 exploring the recall which is about you know early in feb after we kind of realized how deep the deep
00:09:56.660 the issues were with the board is that we saw a lot of parents um supportive a lot of people in the
00:10:02.620 city supportive non-parents too right but very few people were actually keen to put their names on a
00:10:08.180 recall because they were afraid and that's understandable you know i i'm afraid i have two kids in the
00:10:13.000 school district and i kind of worry about how they'll get treated if this is not successful
00:10:17.880 right isn't that i mean that should be successful it and it that shouldn't you shouldn't be afraid i
00:10:23.740 mean you shouldn't be afraid of holding elected leaders accountable right i mean i i that should
00:10:29.720 tell you everything you need to know on why you need to stand up if you're afraid now at this shift
00:10:36.940 towards this kind of rule if you will you're going to be terrified in 10 years you can't let this sit
00:10:45.560 you you have to stand up or do you think people are becoming more willing to or we've seen a lot of
00:10:53.440 support for the recall so autumn kind of talked about some of that we've seen over 8 000 people sign up
00:10:58.020 um you know we've had you know 30 people put their names on a petition that we just filed
00:11:02.840 with the uh city and that note that notice has been sent to each of the three board members who
00:11:09.020 are eligible for recall right now um you know who are kind of our focus at this point um and so so
00:11:17.180 actually so there is a growing and as people see that others are also interested there's hundreds in
00:11:21.700 the facebook group there is growing talk across the city you know we're seeing people like feeling
00:11:26.420 more comfortable um you know talking about it to their friends and to their neighbors etc so we had
00:11:31.760 a lot of enthusiasm from people saying hey you know if we have about 7 000 people sign up but if
00:11:36.120 every one of those 10 every one of those 7 000 just got 10 signatures which is essentially our ask
00:11:41.720 we will hit the 70 000 we need to you know get the recall on the ballot well i am so glad to see you
00:11:51.800 guys uh do this and to lead this and to start to lead the way courage is contagious and that's why i
00:11:59.440 wanted to have you on we may not agree on all the issues but uh right people have to yeah that's
00:12:05.380 exactly right and people have to stand up for one another and their freedom of speech and uh and stop

00:15:41.900 happened to colorado it well i mean it was a state that i would have loved to live in it is beautiful
00:15:48.240 there and it's gone crazy it it has it uh it is uh it has turned into the middle coast of the east and
00:16:00.560 west coast uh liberal bend and uh uh we're struggling here in colorado and what's happening

00:16:19.900 bill 21 132 for a digital communications division tell me what this bill actually is
00:16:27.580 well the interesting part is the bill is being run by the person that wants to take out congressman
00:16:35.680 bobert uh that has announced for that congressional district and what she wants to do is allow the
00:16:41.600 governor to appoint a five member commission with no requirements on political balance no requirements
00:16:49.980 on any balance whatsoever and then that commission has the ability to determine what is
00:16:57.000 uh uh uh hate speech what is fake news uh they make all of those determinations and then confine you
00:17:06.740 they can also set up fees to all social media platforms which quite frankly might even include
00:17:14.940 uh uh blogs after a news story uh from uh from a media uh whenever somebody makes a comment on social
00:17:25.180 media that would be regulated by this commission i mean is there outrage in colorado about this i mean
00:17:34.920 it seems pretty you know moscow 1962
00:17:39.840 this this does seem stall and that it absolutely uh there there is outrage from my side of the aisle
00:17:49.580 but it's interesting that it's not being condemned uh or pushed back against by our governor uh or
00:17:57.940 leadership in either chamber uh they're just kind of letting it slide i don't know if they're supportive
00:18:04.140 but they sure haven't come out and opposed it so you got to assume that they support this type of effort
00:18:10.900 of squashing our first amendment uh uh rights free speech by their silence well i i will tell you
00:18:19.140 they're serious about it in washington dc why wouldn't they be serious about it you know in colorado is
00:18:25.260 there is there any chance this passes i honestly don't think so but you know it depends yeah here's
00:18:36.320 what i'll tell you it's 2021 democrats yeah the democrats have not come out and said they oppose it
00:18:43.460 they have not come out and said that this is bad policy so i don't know if it will die or not
00:18:50.580 i the truth is i'd like to have it i hope it lives through committee and actually gets to the senate floor
00:18:57.140 so we have a discussion and we can hear all of the democrats talk about how they want to squash free

00:19:39.400 outraged uh where they have been tried to stay isolated just do their work in agriculture and
00:19:45.940 those type of things have now become outraged and and are rallying and getting involved uh so
00:19:53.700 colorado especially the rural parts of the state have been awakened and uh i want to say that they
00:20:02.380 probably have awakened the sleeping giant uh even though they're small in numbers uh they will have a
00:20:09.140 strong strong strong voice as this moves forward i will tell you it is the giant cities and the
00:20:15.620 cities with all the universities and usually the state capital that becomes so infected and they are
00:20:22.300 leaving all of the people in uh the rural areas way behind it's it's i mean you think if you listen to
00:20:31.200 the media it's that we can't talk to one another uh and i don't know if that's necessarily true
00:20:36.940 but with the policies that are being pushed now by the extreme far uh left and what's happening in
00:20:44.760 washington we don't have much left in common uh if you're in a big city and you're talking to
00:20:50.920 somebody who lives in you know rural colorado or rural wyoming or texas you just you don't understand
00:20:58.860 each other uh you're exactly right uh it wasn't that long ago that uh our urban cousins had a
00:21:06.480 generation that was still on the farm whether it was an uncle or a grandparent out in rural areas of
00:21:12.820 some state so they had some tie we don't have that anymore and interestingly enough uh the voice is
00:21:21.560 shrinking because you look at as as legislators are based on population i represent alone in my senate
00:21:29.580 district 20 percent of the entire land mass of colorado that makes it very hard to get a rural
00:21:37.120 message to my urban cousins and the urban legislators it is uh if you're if you're running you know
00:21:44.220 representing 20 percent of the land mass uh you have to be affected by what the government is doing
00:21:50.320 with blm land and and the gobbling up of of state land that they've been told twice by the supreme court
00:21:57.540 to send it back to the states it belongs to the states there's no intention of doing anything
00:22:02.860 except at what it seems to me roping that land off and not allowing the states to do anything with it
00:22:07.780 uh absolutely and what we're seeing now is uh the attempts to try and uh benefit all of the country

00:22:23.860 can see it at the gas pump uh gas now is 70 cents higher than it was in january here in colorado

00:25:24.000 journey and now you've got these these facilities packed with unaccompanied children in a whole and
00:25:29.680 in packed in there because of the policies of biden which by the way they were mocking the last two or
00:25:35.320 three years president trump's policies which he was doing to exercise to minimize the danger and
00:25:42.120 push back and work with mexico and use title 42 to stop the flow what we have right now is a hundred
00:25:47.940 thousand apprehensions in february that is an extraordinary number so you have that confirmed
00:25:52.240 now because i heard that they hadn't come out with a number yet you can confirm that hundred thousand
00:25:57.440 i can confirm that both from sources that i know full well but it's probably even more than that but
00:26:03.960 also cbc put out officially yesterday the number that it was over 100 000 now here's the number that's
00:26:09.680 not public and not official but i'll tell you people in dhs sources that they have had uh about
00:26:15.840 11 000 people were caught and released in january and february because of overcrowded facilities they're
00:26:22.560 literally just catching releasing they're turning dhs into essentially a welcome center in which cartels
00:26:27.840 are empowered and people are then uh you know abused in the process and frankly uh it's it's it's
00:26:33.360 disgusting what the biden administration is doing the mexican even the mexican officials have come out
00:26:38.180 just recently and you know they were not a fan necessarily of trump and all of his policies
00:26:42.660 uh but they even said america has got to get this under control it is empowering and it's becoming a
00:26:50.980 bigger business and a bitty bigger money maker for the drug cartels than drugs well and the worst part
00:26:58.520 about it is is you're absolutely right they're moving they're profiting obscenely moving human beings
00:27:03.800 for profit like seven thousand dollars a head sometimes twenty thousand depending on where they
00:27:07.580 come from in the world and then you've got the drug problem that is now exacerbated made worse
00:27:12.660 because our border patrol are being turned into caretakers trying to figure out how to manage all
00:27:17.040 these people in these facilities and their eyes are off the the ball in terms of between ports of entry
00:27:22.160 and now they're moving vast quantities of narcotics fentanyl and now we've got an addiction problem in this
00:27:27.360 country the opioid addiction which gets worse because cartels are exploiting it and running
00:27:31.540 uh these dangerous narcotics uh through our border all because biden wants to say in the false name
00:27:36.740 of compassion that his policies are somehow pro-immigrant and it's a lie it's a dangerous lie
00:27:42.260 and and look in texas we're feeling it high speed chases uh people's homes getting broken into
00:27:48.000 the mayor of del rio you know put out a plea to the biden administration this is a hispanic democrat
00:27:53.160 in del rio saying mr president please do your job to secure the border uh henry cuellar uh vicente
00:28:00.360 gonzalez these are congressmen from texas who are you know saying to the president your
00:28:04.780 administration is failing and not doing your job to actually do what needs to be done to make the
00:28:09.180 border work so um it's it's unfortunate but i think and hopefully the american people are going to see
00:28:14.620 it but of course the mainstream media they're not going to report it like they were when uh allegory
00:28:18.900 was down there lying about kids drinking out of toilets or kids in cages so so congressman why
00:28:25.000 is is biden uh not aware is he is he plugged into enough stuff or is there something else going on
00:28:35.780 you know and this is i think 64 000 question the joe biden of a decade ago however liberal that
00:28:42.100 he is and was and he was you and i have opposed him for you know decades but i don't think the
00:28:47.420 biden of a decade ago and in fact if you look at the policies under obama biden as bad as they were
00:28:52.040 they were nothing like this i think that he is being uh bullied and frankly just steamrolled
00:28:58.600 because of frankly a certain level of either competence or engagement that isn't there at
00:29:03.600 least as it used to be and that now the policies are frankly really troubling because i don't think
00:29:08.180 an american president would ever willingly look at this border and say to the american people it's
00:29:14.320 secure there is no crisis but he's allowing his dhs secretary to say that and he's he's he's frankly
00:29:19.840 this is the guy who two days ago referred to the secretary of defense as that guy who runs that
00:29:26.620 outfit over there i mean this is extremely troubling and and i think that what we're seeing right now is
00:29:34.020 the radical lefts take advantage of a weak president and use it to jam through an unbelievably horrid
00:29:40.720 agenda for crass political purposes and the blood is on their hands for doing it so this is why people
00:29:47.000 uh have dropped listening to news they've they've uh they're just they're unplugging because the
00:29:54.000 problems are getting way too big uh and it doesn't seem like anybody is either interested in doing
00:30:01.460 something or um people like you can't can't get things can't get things rammed through because even
00:30:08.660 your own party at times doesn't support the ideas of of uh people that believe in the constitution
00:30:14.660 what is the solution here well you're not wrong about uh frankly that some of the default falls
