01:31:51.120 so christopher you know when we were hit by um al qaeda the country was asking what do they

01:31:58.880 hate us why do they hate us so much and people say well because of our freedom i i didn't think that

01:32:04.800 was it i think it's because we engaged in uh some really dark stuff all around the world and we are

01:32:11.360 not who we say we are um many times especially in the middle east but why do these people hate us so much

01:32:20.080 you know i think that in the immediate term they view can the average conservative family or conservative

01:32:26.400 citizen as an impediment to their utopia and so what i found so fascinating in the book is that

01:32:33.600 all of these revolutionary figures from the 60s who've really laid out the the the groundwork for

01:32:39.120 what we see today were genuine believers in the utopia they had an idealistic uh temperament in most

01:32:45.440 cases but in all cases it grew sour they grew disillusioned they grew angry they grew resentful and so

01:32:52.160 you can see this emotional arc and i think that's where really the modern lapse begins it's it's a

01:32:57.920 it's a group of people who oftentimes are very smart they're very idealistic but they're very frustrated

01:33:03.520 at what they see around them and it turns into a kind of resentment towards people who are viewed as

01:33:08.560 as either successful but also people who are viewed simply as average middle class content with their lives

01:33:15.520 occupied with their local communities um these are uh barriers to their revolution and so they they

01:33:22.720 want to um first and foremost change the system of government to to take power over them but also

01:33:29.200 even take power over their kids by changing how kids learn and and really because fomenting revolt of

01:33:35.360 the child against the parent and that's what we see as the key symbol throughout this revolution i mean

01:33:41.760 this is truly a a revolt of of children against their parents symbolically archetypally and then also in

01:33:48.080 many cases quite literally

01:33:51.920 yeah but if you were sitting in a map room and you came in and we were losing the war and i'm

01:34:06.720 what what do we need to do and what are the odds that it works at this point i think that there are

01:34:16.160 really a few key strategies that i would recommend first i would recommend reforming american civil

01:34:22.080 rights law which is often used to force these left-wing ideologies well beyond the bounds of colorblind

01:34:27.920 equality and so i would go in i would have executive orders lined up legislation trying to get some cases

01:34:34.240 before the supreme court to to restrain the civil rights bureaucracy so that it can't

01:34:39.840 force you know diversity trainings and crt trainings but actually just ensures that americans are treated

01:34:45.200 equally second i would get as we've done now in seven states universal school choice so that parents can

01:34:51.440 take their taxpayer dollars out of the public school system and into any other school of their choice

01:34:56.320 that's going to shift you know billions of dollars and resources towards creating alternative schools

01:35:02.960 religious schools private schools other kinds of schools home schools where conservatives can

01:35:07.920 start to have institutions that reflect their values they can invest and then third i think we need strong

01:35:12.800 action from state legislatures just governor de santis has started this in florida of retaking some some

01:35:19.840 of the administration in public universities and and i have a personal goal glenn of of reforming

01:35:26.480 uh state a higher education policy to recruit 1 000 conservative professors in the next 10 years and i think

01:35:33.920 even a a thousand uh a thousand academics that are aligned with us that create materials uh and and research

01:35:40.960 and scholarship that's going to be enough of a counterbalance at the beginning to reshape the dynamics within

01:35:47.840 academia how are you going to get that through i mean especially i mean just just talk about school

01:35:54.880 choice universal school choice even in texas they refuse that because the republicans in many states that

01:36:04.080 are wildly red they are still beholden to the teachers unions and they are those teachers unions are so powerful

01:36:14.720 well there's a way to do it and i think arizona governor doug ducey um who actually had the first

01:36:21.280 universal school choice bill passed through his state legislature the first one in the country

01:36:26.240 you know he he he told me something quite interesting he said hey we had the same problem

01:36:30.160 in arizona rural republicans uh were hesitant to do this they didn't want the their friday night lights

01:36:36.400 football um impacted so he made a deal where he essentially horse traded he said hey look we'll

01:36:43.360 increase public school funding by a billion dollars you're going to get a ton of money from the legislature to

01:36:48.640 invest in your public schools your athletic programs but in exchange we want to give everyone a way out

01:36:53.680 and now a billion dollars a year approximately has been taken by parents and then invested into school

01:36:59.920 alternatives this is within just two two years of this program and so um you have to go and do the

01:37:05.840 old school backroom uh political you know cigars in the backroom horse trading and sometimes you have to

01:37:12.400 write a big check to get those few republicans that are beholden to the teachers union overwhelm them

01:37:19.120 sweeten the deal do whatever it takes because long term um this is more important than any short-term

01:37:25.280 budgetary outlay so our institutions have been so overtaken by um uh the esg culprits that

01:38:39.360 simply say in the united states the law is that corporations that are chartered by the state you

01:38:45.120 know you actually the companies are chartered um they have to be uh uh prioritize the return on

01:38:51.920 investment uh the goal of a capitalist economy is to maximize profits um and then these specific facts

01:38:59.680 facets of esg style investing are political ideology political activism um and and and it is restricted

01:39:07.680 for uh public publicly traded companies if you want to have a small business and you want to have a

01:39:12.960 you know communist bake shop and and not charge anyone any money that's fine but if you are a multinational
