01:50:35.620 It has been a problem that I've been trying to rectify with the city for over a year.

01:50:43.160 I did everything I could to try to avoid bringing a lawsuit.

01:50:48.780 I basically went to city council and begged them to work with me, and they refused.

01:50:55.540 But the mayor has made clear that he will favor Islam, that he has a disregard for people

01:51:05.760 who disagree with Islam, who hold other beliefs.

01:51:14.080 The rhetoric that has come from him is extremely disturbing.

01:51:32.760 So one of the classic examples, and this is him in public knowing he's on tape, a Christian pastor who regularly reaches out to the city and tries to work with the city on issues that he has complained about the renaming of a street in Dearborn after a man named Sablani.

01:51:57.400 Sablani has called Hezbollah and Hamas freedom fighters. He has also spoken in many ways that

01:52:10.040 were quoted by the pastor and the mayor went and celebrated the street being renamed in Sablani's

01:52:18.720 name. After the pastor complained about it, the mayor, again, on video, knowing he's on video,

01:52:29.440 said, as mayor, I want you to know you are not welcome here. He spoke of this individual saying

01:52:38.540 horrible things about Islam. He didn't say what the pastor said. He just said that and said,

01:52:46.720 you are not welcome here. That is extremely disturbing. But you also had the mayor

01:52:55.160 blaming Israel on October 7th for what happened on October 7th. It's extremely disturbing.

01:53:07.280 So this is, I mean, I think we've lost Dearborn. It's an Islamic city. And it is, 1.00

01:53:16.960 So you took, I think they were doing Ramadan celebrations, and they will not do Christian celebrations. 0.55

01:53:39.380 It started when I was downtown Dearborn picking up pizza, and down, up and down the boulevard were Ramadan Kareem banners.

01:53:51.680 And I was frankly shocked because for 50 years, we've seen the courts say you can't have a crush when it's out by itself.

01:54:03.220 So I reached out and said to the city, you know, I'm actually glad that you're not looking at the Establishment Clause under this warped idea that you can't celebrate religious views of citizens as long as you treat everybody equally.

01:54:22.620 I got an attorney who had sued and won three times against Dearborn to send a letter thinking, okay, maybe this will get their attention.

01:54:35.820 I went to city council and I said, look, I went to the mayor.

01:54:44.400 And in fact, do it because people from the outside do see Dearborn in one light that

01:57:27.000 If it gets to the Supreme Court, the reason will be is the Supreme Court has kind of pulled

01:57:33.480 back on its Establishment Clause jurisprudence when they struck the Lemon Test, which was

01:57:40.740 kind of this three-pronged test that nobody liked. And it's gone back to more of a historic

01:57:47.780 perspective. And when you come to religious displays, this case is probably one of the first

01:57:58.020 sense the Supreme Court has pulled back where the court would have to say, okay, what is actually

01:58:05.940 the standard. Frankly, it doesn't matter what the standard is. There is no history and tradition

01:58:12.000 of celebrating Ramadan as a holiday and the only holiday in this country. So it could eventually 1.00

01:58:20.480 go to the Supreme Court. There's one more thing, Glenn, I really want to stress here because

01:58:26.840 the city has put out this kind of talking point that, oh, we treat everyone equally,

01:58:32.820 which is false. And oh, we're welcoming, which is false. The mayor said, you're not welcome here.

01:58:39.360 But there's a third part that we're starting to see where it's people talking on behalf of the

01:58:46.020 city who the city is not saying, but oh, we spend all this money celebrating Christmas.

01:58:51.820 No, the city has been fastidious in not recognizing Christmas and religious holidays.
