00:11:44.460 Uh, on the morning of January 19th, the day before Trump's inauguration, Schneiderman called, uh, from a hospital emergency room to his girlfriend and said he had been drinking the night before and fell down.

00:12:01.020 But when he woke up, he was in a pool of blood and it hadn't stopped bleeding yet.

00:12:06.100 She said, I, I understand how incomprehensible may be that, that I stayed in an abusive relationship for more than a year, but I now see how independent women get stuck in one.

00:45:53.840 We got off the train after a two-day ride without any food,

00:46:04.220 We were immediately taken on trucks into the camp, into the main camp,

00:46:13.840 and we were put into what was called a Czech family camp,

00:46:20.120 because we were from Czechoslovakia originally.

00:47:52.020 that they'll put together an artificial camp

00:47:54.400 and show them at least 10,000 people that are alive and doing well.

00:48:00.040 So we were lucky because we were the only two transports

00:48:04.680 to September 1943 transport from Theresienstadt, which was the ghetto,

00:48:10.520 and the December 1943 transport also from Theresienstadt.

00:48:14.480 We got a total of roughly 10,000 people, grandparents, parents, children,

00:48:20.300 that were put into this artificial joke of a camp.

00:48:24.960 And I mean joke in a way that, not in a negative way.

00:48:29.320 I mean it was just a pretense.

00:48:31.860 And because we were put there, because I was part of it,

00:48:37.060 I somehow survived, the first 5,000, almost all of them were gassed

00:48:43.580 in the following March or April of 1944 when the SS found out

00:48:51.540 that the International Red Cross was not coming into Auschwitz.

00:48:55.720 So the first transport of almost 5,000 that came in September,

00:49:01.940 they were gassed in the March-April period of 1944.

00:49:06.620 And then our turn came up in July of 1944,

00:49:11.240 and we had to go through what was called a selection.

00:49:15.500 And a selection typically was a selection of whether you were going to end up on death row

00:49:21.440 and end up in the gas chamber or if you were going to survive.

00:49:25.840 And at that point, this was now spring of 19, summer of 1944,

00:49:31.460 at this point the SS became more selective in terms of who survives and who doesn't

00:49:38.440 in regards to using people for labor purposes.

00:49:42.760 So Germany was bombed severely by this time,

00:49:47.540 and they needed workers both in factories and in rebuilding Germany.

00:49:53.860 And they were trying to save some of the healthy people

00:49:57.140 basically for the purposes of slave labor.

00:50:01.400 So when I went through the selection and my brother went through the selection,

00:50:08.000 we were both put on death row.

00:50:09.980 We were both on the left side of the big table where Dr. Mengele

00:50:14.040 and a couple of the other SS people were choosing the children
