00:47:58.760 Well, let's take it from Glenn Greenwald, because there's a couple of things that Glenn Greenwald pointed out on this report that came out from the Revolver News.

00:48:14.380 The original report, says Glenn Greenwald, published by Revolver News and then amplified by Fox News' Tucker Carlson, documented ample evidence of FBI infiltration of the three key groups at the center of the January 6th investigation.

00:48:31.980 The Oath Keepers, the Proud Boys, and the three presenters.

00:48:36.420 Noted how many alleged riot leaders from these groups have not yet been indicted, while low-level protesters have been aggressively charged with major felonies and held without bail.

00:48:52.760 Many of the alleged plot leaders have thus far been shielded from charges.

00:48:57.180 So the first question is, why, if those three, the Oath Keepers, the Proud Boys, and the three percenters, why weren't the leaders of those groups charged?

00:49:09.320 Why were just the low-hanging fruit?

00:49:11.620 Why were they the only ones that got indicted, if it was something that was coming from these organizations officially?

00:50:32.760 What would be shocking and strange is not if the FBI had embedded informants and other infiltrators into the groups planning the January 6th Capitol riot.

00:50:49.840 is if the FBI did not have those groups under tight control.

00:50:54.540 And yet the suggestion that the FBI informants may have played some role in the planning of the January 6th riot

00:51:02.500 was instantly depicted as something akin to the 9-11 truthers, the COVID lab leak theory, which turns out to be true, 0.99

00:51:14.820 This reaction is partly confounding given how often the FBI did exactly this during the first war on terror,

00:51:23.340 and how commonplace discussions of this tactic were in the mainstream liberal circles.

00:51:34.940 on countless cases for The Guardian and The Intercept,

00:51:39.500 where the FBI targeted some young American Muslims they viewed as easily manipulated

00:51:45.740 due to financial distress, emotional problems, or both,

00:51:50.040 and then deployed informants and undercover agents to dupe them

00:51:54.120 into agreeing to join terrorist plots that had been created, designed, and funded by the FBI itself,

00:52:03.220 only then to congratulate themselves for breaking up the plot which they themselves initiated.

00:52:09.500 As asked in one headline about this particularly egregious entrapment case,

00:52:15.820 why does the FBI have to manufacture its own plots if terrorism and ISIS are such grave threats?

00:52:23.160 Mother Jones even published, he says, an outstanding lengthy investigation

00:52:28.020 by a reporter entitled The Informations, which asked,

00:52:33.420 The FBI has built a national or a massive network of spies to prevent another domestic attack,

00:52:40.500 but they are busting terrorist plots, or are they leading them?

00:52:47.440 He goes on to show story after story where the FBI was getting into groups or creating groups

00:52:55.320 and then targeting the most vulnerable, the lowest on the ladder,

00:53:01.140 and then involving them in some sort of a plot and then arresting.

00:53:06.180 If this is true, and this is a pattern, which he says it is,

00:53:11.420 then the FBI, why wouldn't they be doing that in the January 6th attack on the Capitol?

00:53:20.200 And there are several things that say that something is wrong here.

00:53:25.300 For instance, there are thousands of hours of videotape, of surveillance.

00:53:33.480 Why have the surveillance tapes not been released?

00:53:38.580 Now, you could say it's because it shows some good things,

00:53:40.980 but they would point out that it might show that the FBI or the local police

01:50:40.780 But the legal definition of homicide is the

01:50:43.260 killing of a human being due to an act or

01:50:45.660 omission of another.

01:50:47.280 Included among homicides are murder and

01:50:49.680 manslaughter.

01:50:50.360 But not all homicides are a crime,

01:50:52.960 particularly when there is a lack of

01:50:55.160 criminal intent.

01:50:56.120 So the study doesn't measure unjust uses

01:50:59.840 of police force.

01:51:01.480 It measures uses of force generally,

01:51:04.520 some of which, most of which are entirely

01:51:07.600 justified.

01:51:08.140 For example, one of the sources they use for

01:51:10.660 the study is a database on police shootings

01:51:12.520 in the Washington Post, which indicates

01:51:14.580 999 people were shot and killed by police

01:51:17.120 in 2019.

01:51:18.840 Of course, of those 999 people, it's important

01:51:21.320 to note because of this context that only 251

01:51:25.540 were black.

01:51:31.180 are David Anderson and Francine Graham, both black

01:51:35.360 and both needlessly gunned down by police,

01:51:45.200 people, which followed their murder of a police

01:51:48.780 officer who was questioning them about another

01:51:52.540 murder that occurred a week earlier.

01:52:44.100 First, they observed an increase in the use of body

01:52:46.780 cameras and different types of community policing.

01:52:48.780 It's possible that in response to BLM protests, police

01:52:51.840 departments implemented reforms like body cameras that

01:52:54.980 reduce the lethal use of force.

01:52:58.120 Look, to me, there's no one who benefits more from body

01:53:01.140 cameras than the police themselves because they actually

01:53:03.600 are able to tell the truth about what happened.

01:53:05.740 But as Vox notes, there's not really convincing data that

01:53:08.480 that would occur for the account for these differences.

01:53:11.240 So the second mechanism is that civilians are becoming more

01:53:14.560 wary of the police in the aftermath of these

01:53:16.780 protests and the publicizing of instances of police

01:53:20.400 homicides.

01:53:20.920 That could mean that people call 9-1-1 or less or engage

01:53:25.440 with police officers less on their own volition, which has

01:53:28.780 the effect of reducing civilian police interactions and

01:53:32.200 thereby fatal interactions as well.

01:54:19.320 In other words, officers stop doing their jobs as aggressively.

01:54:23.020 This can lead to reduced arrests, especially for less serious crimes

01:54:27.640 like disorderly conduct or marijuana possession.

01:54:32.100 So the police are tired of being called genocidal maniacs.

01:54:35.040 So they're just not getting involved as much.

01:54:38.740 I guess that's the third mechanism, which sounds delightful, too.

01:54:42.220 So let's take all of this at face value.

01:54:46.900 But remember, the overwhelming majority of these, quote unquote,

01:58:04.040 But according to this study, BLM protests also produce their intended effect.
