00:58:19.700 out of situations where they're really where they've really been oppressed they hear marxism talk about

00:58:26.500 this idea of the world being simplistically oppressors versus oppressed god is on the side of the

00:58:32.520 oppressed he is against oppression and the oppressor it's it's very attractive when you have people who

00:58:39.060 you know don't have many resources and they see other people in the world like america for example

00:58:44.220 where there's a lot of resources and you know it's really easy to to latch on to something that explains

00:58:52.420 your deficit uh through a worldview that says no no they have that because they are oppressors

00:58:58.400 but that's okay they're going to get there because god is on the side of the oppressed and so liberation

00:59:03.420 theology thrives in that kind of environment and so this idea of collectivism this idea of the group

00:59:11.260 versus the individual is something that finds its roots in that worldview which is why again we've been

00:59:18.120 talking about critical theory right the us versus them seeing people as part of these constituent groups

00:59:23.420 and not as individuals who i am is my blackness it's not who i am as an individual right um and even

00:59:30.260 if i start talking in a way that rejects critical theory then people are going to say i'm not really

00:59:35.860 black something has happened to me so that we're negating individualism altogether this all comes out of
