00:07:35.300I mean, I look at bad people in the world, and, you know, I sit here as an ex-cop, and I'm thinking, well, everybody's got something going on.
00:07:42.860But I want bad people arrested, and I want them prosecuted, and I want them convicted, and I want them to go to prison.
00:07:49.600And I look at this lady, and I'm thinking, yeah.
00:29:31.980You know, two years ago, the the shooters were brought over, were extradited and charged and and sentenced to two consecutive life sentences.
00:29:42.440But two years ago, they appealed that sentence and to the D.C. Circuit Court of Appeals,
00:29:47.740which granted their appeal, saying that the murder statute used against them was invalid because the murder happened extraterritorially,
00:29:56.260meaning happened outside outside of the United States.
00:29:58.740And two years ago, Jeff, I could not sit here and do nothing about this.
00:30:02.720And so as I've done in my career, as I will do as a land commissioner, is continue to fight.
00:30:08.960And I did that. And I got on the phone with our with our legislators, with our senators and congressmen.
00:30:14.700And I always mentioned the Federal Law Enforcement Office Association, who were extremely helpful in helping pass this bill.
00:30:21.180So we drafted a brand new bill, the Jaime Zapata and Victor Avila Federal Officer and Employee Protection Act.
00:30:31.460You know, it's kind of weird how this happens, but it was signed by Biden just last month.
00:30:36.200And very proud of that accomplishment, because now it protects our officers that serve and the family members abroad, protecting our homeland.
00:30:47.120Wow. So I hear that and I'm thinking to myself, well, it's going to be a cool event for Victor, right?
00:30:53.680They're probably going to fly into the White House.
00:30:55.260You're going to stand next to the president.
00:30:56.680You'll get one of the pens used to sign that that legislation, making it law, because that's what they do with all of these bills.
00:31:04.420But did your invitation kind of get lost in the mail or something?
00:31:10.600I was on standby, literally on standby to get the call from the White House.
00:31:14.800Senator Cornyn's office had sent all the information in, not just mine, but the Zapata family as well.
00:31:19.740And literally was waiting until but the call that I got was from someone else saying, by the way, the signing ceremony is tomorrow at the White House.
00:35:42.960And when you and I lose the ability to communicate, when you and I lose the ability to just stand up and say, hey, I don't agree with this or I do agree with this, we really are in a world of hurt.
00:35:57.700And that's going to be very dangerous.
00:36:08.660She's the vice president of the United States, right?
00:36:12.320Most famous at this point, I think, because not of her accomplishments, because let's be honest, there really are no accomplishments, but just the way she dismisses every question.
00:36:27.760So there was, I guess, like a little puff piece that they were doing on Kamala Harris.
00:38:08.560Morgan was the chief of the United States Border Patrol under President Obama, the commissioner of customs and border protection for President Trump.
00:38:17.460So nobody can accuse him of being part of the vast right wing conspiracy.
00:38:21.420He's just an honest, straight shooter.
00:38:23.600And he said, listen, this is outrageous what's going on.
00:38:26.920So when the vice president, Kamala Harris left, I should have gotten out of D.C. more.
00:38:37.540Yeah, there are a lot of us that wish you would get out of D.C.
00:38:40.360I mean, but you got three more years to go.
00:40:31.300On top of that, Biden is now trying to throw another $1.7 trillion into their social and climate plan, which could potentially accelerate inflation even more.
00:40:41.600At this point, it's just a matter of when and how bad.
00:45:35.860There's nothing more Jeff Katz than buying the Hanukkah candy while it's on closeout, and then giving it to the boys, and going, hey, happy Hanukkah.
00:45:45.900But there were a few other things we were supposed to get, and this is where I get back to the interwebs.
00:45:49.860Joe gave me a couple of links for t-shirts.
00:45:56.100Now, they're t-shirts related to certain games that he enjoys online.
00:46:00.880And I said, okay, well, you know, that's fair.
00:52:31.180If you're looking for a New Year's resolution that is easy to keep, I have just the thing.
00:52:36.500It's time to do something that will help protect your identity and your personal information.
00:52:40.880It's time to get LifeLock Identity Theft Protection.
00:52:43.880LifeLock will alert you to any potential threats to your identity online because you're going to miss certain ID threats if you're only monitoring your credit.
00:52:53.080And they pay attention to more and will not only notify you if they find threats, things like your information being for sale on the dark web, but also if you do become a victim of ID theft, a U.S.-based restoration specialist is going to help you take the necessary steps to help resolve your case.
00:53:12.480No one can prevent all identity theft, monitor all transactions at all businesses, but LifeLock is the New Year's resolution that's easy to keep.
00:53:20.000Keep you and your family safe and save up to 25% off your first year.
00:53:24.160Call 1-800-LIFELOCK or go to lifelock.com.
00:54:24.280And in Florida, where life is, you know, normal, like with real people, and people go out in public, and they're not hiding under their bed or wrapped in hazmat suits.
00:54:36.080Well, we have our, we have the development I live in.
00:54:38.760We have our token few that still are afraid to come out of their homes.
00:54:43.420But having moved here from Ohio a year ago, I am so thankful I made the move.
01:08:22.800But I am telling you seriously, if you go into the store and you cannot find food and you don't live somewhere where you can grow some of your own food.
01:21:26.240I love my kids all the time, and there are moments where I'm not particularly crazy about something they've done or said, so maybe I don't like them all the time.
01:23:13.940But as a parent, I'm supposed to be involved in my kid's education, right?
01:23:20.160Isn't that how you and I were instructed over the years?
01:23:24.880I mean, haven't we heard about parents?
01:23:26.760Oh, you know, that mom over there, man, she never comes to the PTA meetings.
01:23:31.260Or that dad, he doesn't even know what grade his kid's in.
01:23:34.360So we want, or at least I was told we wanted, parents involved with education.
01:23:39.720And then, as critical race theory was being jammed down children's throats, as sexual attacks were taking place inside schools here in Virginia, there were a whole slew of parents that said, nope, not interested.
01:24:56.420When politicians will say, well, we don't teach critical race theory in high school or in middle school or in elementary, that's a college level thing.
01:25:04.220And you take a deep breath and say, okay, all of your teachers in the classroom now have been schooled in the school of critical race theory.
01:25:15.060And their instructional methods for every subject embrace critical race theory.
01:25:22.920So you would be right if you said there's not a high school course entitled critical race theory because there doesn't have to be.
01:25:34.240Because every other course embraces critical race theory.
01:25:39.200And then the issue up in Loudoun County, which is a D.C. suburb.
01:25:46.200And I got to tell you something about Loudoun County.
01:25:47.920It's a reliably Democrat, left of center county.
01:26:56.880He would be most noteworthy in the other states across America because you'd be saying, hey, were you the guy in blackface or under the Klan hood?
01:27:06.460Remember that photo a couple of years back?
01:27:08.000Well, anyway, he told us, oh, there's no problem in schools and parents, you know, just leave it up to the professionals.
01:27:13.000And then Terry McAuliffe, who was running to be governor, said over and over and over again, no, parents shouldn't be involved.
01:27:23.060Parents should have no role in the schools.
01:27:24.640They shouldn't be telling teachers anything.
01:27:26.600And then he said again, parents shouldn't tell teachers.
01:27:32.320And then he said again, no, you shouldn't be involved.
01:27:34.080No, you shouldn't have any input on this on the books either.
01:27:47.220He's just somebody who's also a father who said we can do better.
01:27:53.820But I want you to take a listen to Nicole Hannah-Jones.
01:28:00.000Nicole Hannah-Jones is the woman who invented the 1619 Project.
01:28:06.520You remember 1619 Project telling us that you're a terrible person, you're a racist, this country is built strictly on slavery and will never make, you remember that.
01:28:29.520Nicole Hannah-Jones on why parents should not be involved in education.
01:28:36.060Well, I would say the governor's race in Virginia was decided based on the success of a right wing propaganda campaign that told white parents that they needed to fight against.
01:28:46.740And I don't know if they were children being indoctrinated as race as being called racist.
01:28:52.760And there are a lot of black parents in Virginia.
01:28:55.280There are a lot of Latino parents in Virginia.
01:28:57.340And they were not being featured in that coverage.
01:28:59.440And what they wanted for their kids education, which is more teaching about race, more teaching about the history of racism, seemed to have fallen on deaf ears.
01:29:07.940So I think we should frame that question properly.
01:29:10.020And I don't really understand this idea that parents should decide what's being taught.
01:29:26.880When the governor or the candidate said that he didn't think parents should be deciding what's being taught in school, he was panned for that.
01:29:36.960But but that's just the fact this is why we send our children to school and don't homeschool, because these are the professional educators who have the expertise to teach social studies, to teach history, to do science, to teach literature.
01:29:50.740OK, I know she didn't quite get Terry McAuliffe's quote spot on there, but listen, I'll give her a pass on that one.
01:30:00.800But this idea, well, we don't homeschool.
01:31:05.320I can read history and I could share that with my kids if I were homeschooling.
01:31:11.400What she was attempting to do, what the left continually attempts to do is demonize certain segments of America for whom they have great contempt.
01:31:22.300And it's a shame and it's ugly and it's sad.
01:31:26.560And there's a reason that we, the parents in Virginia, we, the parents everywhere are standing up and saying we, we, the parents have not just a role.
01:31:41.380We have an obligation to our children to know what's being taught and to be involved.
01:31:46.680And anything less than full involvement is not doing right by your kids.
01:31:54.540Hey, in a couple of moments, we've got to talk about this war on law enforcement.
01:32:37.240You've heard me talking about MyPillow for years and how it's changed the way I sleep.
01:32:47.520Mike Lindell, the inventor of MyPillow, fitted me personally for my own MyPillow because I told him, I said, I don't think I really like him.
01:32:54.680And he said, wait, I think you have the wrong one.
01:41:13.880If you are not visiting TheBlaze.com and GlennBeck.com multiple times a day, you are missing out.
01:41:24.120I swear, anything and everything that you need to know, and you do need to know this stuff, you're going to find it at TheBlaze.com and GlennBeck.com.
01:41:34.800Happy as well to pass along my information.
01:41:37.080A lot of folks, very kind to send a note.
01:42:27.320Let's invite members of the local constabulary to come over and enjoy the cookies.
01:42:31.440No, it's always the worst day for whoever it is that calls.
01:42:35.200And yet, we still have so many great men and women who get up in the morning, in the afternoon, in the evening, because they're working 24-7, my friends.
01:42:43.200Get up, put on a uniform, strap on a sidearm, pin on a badge, and go out there and do the job.
01:42:50.900But we see all sorts of folks attacking them, demeaning them.
01:42:54.240And I'm trying to get to the bottom of that.
01:42:56.520Now, there is nobody better when it comes to analyzing trends in law enforcement, what's going on in the law enforcement community with society than Jimmy Galliano.
01:43:07.440Jimmy is a retired supervisory special agent from the FBI, graduate of West Point, ranger-trained combat officer, working on his Ph.D.
01:43:20.660Oh, he's also the mayor of the town in which he lives.
01:43:23.860So, in other words, a slacker's slacker.
01:43:26.760Jimmy, I appreciate you being here, my friend.
01:43:30.140Jeff, couldn't think anybody else I'd rather spend a bit of the holidays with than you.
01:43:34.280And I will cop to the same thing you just did.
01:43:36.440We are both fellow washed-up law enforcement officers.
01:43:39.380But it is great to join somebody who appreciates what I do, which is being a law enforcement advocate and standing up for the men and the women in blue who, no matter what it is, they can't strike.
01:43:55.460It's the early parts of the pandemic, violence in cities, riots, no matter what.
01:44:00.420They put on the badge, the gun, the uniform, and they show up and do their job.
01:44:03.820And, Jeff, I'm proud to join you because I know how much of a law enforcement advocate you are, and thanks for what you do on their behalf.
01:45:19.300And, of course, the kid jumps back in the car, tries to drive away, dragging the officers.
01:45:23.720She pulled out what she believed was her taser.
01:45:26.620Now, for the uninitiated, you know, officers usually carry their sidearm, their weapon, on their strong side.
01:45:33.840And then they'll usually have their taser somewhere on the other side.
01:45:37.700And in just a horrific, horrific case of a bad mistake when, you know, passions are inflamed and you're operating in extremis at a case of life and death, she pulls her weapon.
01:45:51.560She shouts out, taser, taser, taser, which police officers are instructed to yell out to fellow officers when they're deploying a taser because the taser has a little barb on the end.
01:46:01.500It also has a cable that runs to that barb so you can't have anybody else in between the target of the taser and the taser itself.
01:46:09.860And she accidentally drew her firearm and shot Mr. Wright.
01:46:17.320I mean, I grieve for the family of Dante Wright as anybody would of somebody who lost their life that shouldn't have.
01:46:25.000But under the circumstances in our blown up system right now where right is wrong, left is right, up is down, it makes no sense.
01:46:34.640A jury decided to convict her of first degree manslaughter.
01:46:38.720And, Jeff, the meaning of it in Minneapolis is she improperly used such force and violence that death or great bodily harm to any person was reasonably foreseeable.
01:46:50.100And I just think that is just a horrific misinterpretation of her actions.
01:46:56.340And then to add, just to add even more fuel to the fire of how she is being mistreated here, she was held without bail while she was pending appeal.
01:47:06.480And, Jeff, mark my words, I get a lot of these right.
01:47:11.100But my prediction here is that this case will be overturned on appeal, but she is being held behind bars because, obviously, the judge here felt that she was a flight risk or a threat to the community.
01:47:28.100My understanding of Officer Potter's history, she's a longtime member or was a longtime member of that police department, was lauded by people in that community, made an absolutely terrible mistake.
01:47:44.460I don't think anybody, unless I missed it during the prosecution, I don't think anybody said, oh, yeah, she really meant to grab her gun and she was trying to cover that up by shouting, taser, taser, taser.
01:47:55.660Or I just, I don't know, I just hang my head.
01:47:59.820And as I do oftentimes with these cases, Jimmy, I wonder about men and women who still step up to the plate, if you will, and say, yep, I want to go serve.
01:48:24.700Cops are not perfect, but they are required to make decisions at the speed of light in a nanosecond, low-light situations when the world is just spiraling into a dangerous situation, and they're supposed to make life-or-death situations.
01:48:41.240And look, when I say that, I understand the trumpets from the other side.
01:48:45.200Well, then you're hiring the wrong people.
01:48:47.440Well, then we need to get better cops.
01:48:49.640It's not easy when we're hiring human beings.
01:49:04.680And to your point, you know, it's one of these things.
01:49:06.960We have to look at this the same way that the Supreme Court did back in 1989.
01:49:11.240The great case, you know, where Graham v. Conor, which just basically says, we have to judge these officers under the objective reasonableness standard.
01:49:21.600Were her actions objectively reasonable?
01:49:24.240Does anybody believe that she pulled her pistol and then faked everybody out by yelling, taser, taser, taser, because she wanted to murder Dante Wright?
01:49:35.660So if that's the understanding, and because she was operating without the benefit of hindsight, without slowing things down at a speed that regular people can interpret it and make judgments on, gosh, Jeff, this was just a horrible case.
01:49:49.860And again, I'm going to give you my prediction here on The Glenn Beck Show.
01:49:53.200This case will be overturned on appeal.
01:50:06.880Jimmy also serves on the board of directors for the Law Enforcement Legal Defense Fund.
01:50:11.600And this is an organization which steps up, helps police officers, law enforcement officers who are, well, being charged or pursued or prosecuted inappropriately.
01:50:23.640And, Jimmy, if I understand correctly, Law Enforcement Legal Defense Fund now stepping up to defend some folks out in Portland, Oregon, correct?
01:50:33.000Yes, the federal officers who were at that federal courthouse that was firebombed by Antifa and some of the activists and the folks during the riots of the summer of 2020 and folks there that actually used force, not deadly force, but used force on some people that were storming the federal courthouse.
01:50:55.840Now, we're rightly agitated when people point out that, hey, there were people that tried to storm the Capitol on January 6th.
01:51:02.840But where is the same type of apoplexy, and that's the right word, from the left when it comes to firehouses and police departments and police precincts and a federal courthouse in Portland that was stormed and firebombed?
01:51:20.120And it's just not there because, you know, if they find sympathy with a certain cause, it's okay if our folks act out.
01:51:27.080But if folks on the other side act out, we want to hold them to account.
01:51:30.240In this instance, the Law Enforcement Legal Defense Fund, which folks can go online, it's www.policedefense.org, policedefense.org.
01:51:43.320It's been around since the mid-'90s, founded by Ed Meese, a former attorney general that I have great respect for, still on the board of directors.
01:51:50.020I was on a call with him last week, and I'm still so absolutely impressed by what he does at his advanced age and still trying to find ways to defend, again, cops that have been unjustly accused.
01:52:03.760We're not defending people that do bad things.
01:52:06.500We're defending people that were acting under the color of authority, trying to do their job, and caught a bad break, and now are being accused of a crime, Jeff.
01:52:14.400That's the purpose of the organization.
01:52:16.120If people go there, the wonderful thing about it is you can make a donation.
01:52:20.500You can also choose a particular case to make a donation to.
01:52:25.260So if folks do decide to do that, we'd really appreciate it.
01:53:07.820If you want to show your support for law enforcement officers, really cool place to go.
01:53:12.040And, again, we don't get, I'm on the board of directors, we certainly don't get any of the proceeds from this.
01:53:17.220This is all being put back into the pot to help out folks that, again, we help with legal fees.
01:53:23.900We help with families that when a cop is fired from a job and then has to, you know, fight for their lives, we help out with the bills for families.
01:53:32.380So it's really a great benevolent organization and also an educational organization.
01:53:38.660You know, when people say, well, a cop should shoot a gun out of the bad guy's hand or a cop should shoot to wound instead of shoot to kill,
01:53:45.760there's a lot of things there that kind of dispel some of these really just these urban myths that are out there.
01:53:51.780So if you get a chance, I hope the folks that listen to you and listen to the Glenn Beck show will check out the website.
01:54:02.080Jimmy is a retired supervisory special agent from the FBI, sits on the board of directors of the Law Enforcement Legal Defense Fund.
01:54:08.720Now, while I personally will never compete with Heidi's regular deliveries from Easy Spirit, apparently we're that's our retirement is shoes.
01:54:18.380But I got a truckload coming from Policedefense.org, the Law Enforcement Legal Defense Fund.
01:54:23.620You can go there, learn more about it, make a donation if you'd like.
01:54:27.920There is a police simulator there if you want to find out more what it's like under pressure.
01:54:32.500And, of course, there's a whole bunch of swag because that's the way it is.
01:54:36.480Jeff Katz, happy to be sitting in for Glenn today.
