00:00:00.000Greetings and salutations. Today I want to elaborate on what kind of martial art I recommend.
00:00:07.000Now first and foremost, I had my first MMA fight last weekend at Kampf der Nibelungen.
00:00:14.000Highly glorious in all actuality, and I won in the first round via a Kimura.
00:00:19.000Now unfortunately there will not be a video, because it's not all about me, but we got some cool pictures at least,
00:00:26.000and a tremendous experience. And yeah, I have thanked everyone on my social media,
00:00:32.000so if you follow me on Instagram and Facebook, if you don't, do it immediately below.
00:00:36.000And I just want to say thank you to everyone again, and a special thank you to my opponent,
00:00:41.000who definitely brought the pressure, and also a thank you to the German audience,
00:00:47.000who gave me a warm welcome and support, even though I wasn't the hometown fighter.
00:00:53.000Anyway, one of the reasons I fought in this MMA match was so that they could tell you all to start training martial arts as well,
00:01:01.000because I know that, and this is something I felt as well when I was younger,
00:01:05.000that you know, going into a new gym, sparring and wrestling with a lot of new people,
00:01:11.000it can be a bit daunting, but you know, I'm with you in spirit if you do that at least.
00:01:17.000Same thing obviously applies to the gym. And then the question becomes, which kind of martial arts do I recommend?
00:01:24.000The short answer is strength training and MMA. Try to combine the two, maybe three times martial arts a week,
00:01:33.000and four times in the gym. And I'd say the general guideline when choosing a martial arts,
00:01:39.000go with one which you can get into a good routine. So if you have a boxing gym, which only focuses on standard boxing,
00:01:47.000if you have that available to you 10 minutes away, definitely go with that.
00:01:53.000Because it's all about getting into the routine. It's all about getting in a lot of sessions over a very long time.
00:01:59.000It's the same thing with the gym. Like you need to have that progression over a long period of time.
00:02:04.000And if that is easier to do in a boxing gym or even a judo gym or a Brazilian jiu-jitsu gym or whatever it might be,
00:02:13.000go with that option. So even if I say now that, yeah, if you have the option, go with MMA, find an MMA gym.
00:02:20.000If that is not an option, go with what is best suited to your everyday life.
00:02:25.000So I mean, if you have a Thai boxing gym nearby, yes, sign up for that and get good at that.
00:02:30.000Something you can keep in mind also that the basics are the important thing.
00:02:35.000Just as with the strength training, the basics are the most important.
00:02:40.000So you want to get really good at bench press, military press, deadlift, squats and rows, basically.
00:02:47.000View martial arts as the same thing. You want to get really good at the basics of boxing, the basics on the ground,
00:02:54.000the basics of wrestling, etc. Now, if you train those extremely much.
00:02:59.000So if you train the left hook or the straight cross enough times,
00:03:05.000whether you do that on a boxing gym or a Thai boxing gym or an MMA gym,
00:03:09.000it doesn't really matter as long as you get really good at it.
00:03:12.000Because in a strength predicament, you won't really need all super fancy techniques.
00:03:18.000You just need the basics done. So you know how to, you know, hit with precision power.
00:03:23.000So that is the main recommendation. Learn the basics and learn them extremely good.
00:03:28.000So that when the adrenaline is kicking in and you perhaps lose control over your, you know, active thoughts.
00:03:35.000And just the, your body reacts instinctively.
00:03:38.000You need to have practiced something a great many times.
00:03:42.000So, so that it will become an instinct.
00:03:45.000Now, obviously also, the gym is extremely important if you want to get good in a predicament.
00:03:52.000No matter what predicament. And I've talked about this before.
00:03:54.000But in regards to fighting, like, if you see world breaker here, the more pressure I can put behind, the better, the more power I can have.
00:04:03.000Same thing with the kicks. The more, the more squats you've done, the stronger you are in your legs, the more power you can generate in your legs.
00:04:10.000Same thing in the clinch in Thai boxing or when you're wrestling or if you're on the ground wrestling in Jitsu.
00:04:16.000The stronger you are, the more you can do with the technique you have.
00:04:19.000Same thing with when you punch. The more mass you can put behind the technique, the better.
00:04:24.000So the best thing is if you have the technique and the physique.
00:04:27.000So if you can combine those two because then it becomes more potent.
00:04:30.000And then, obviously, we're talking about physical toughness.
00:04:33.000If you have a strong neck, for example, you can absorb punches better.
00:04:36.000If you have well-trained abs, you can withstand punches and kicks and knees to the stomach better.
00:04:42.000And now, keep in mind, I'm not saying that you should have visible abs.
00:04:45.000I'm saying that you should have strong abs.
00:04:46.000So it doesn't matter if you have fat in the way. It's just a matter of having strong abs.
00:04:50.000Same thing with the arms. Like, you can pull something better to you if you're stronger, etc.
00:04:55.000So do not underestimate strength training when it comes to the fighting game.
00:05:01.000And then some guys will say that, oh, you know, size and strength doesn't matter in a fight.
00:05:05.000But it kind of does. So don't listen to them.
00:05:08.000It's equally stupid as thinking that only strength will save you.
