00:00:00.000 Greetings true friends. Today I want to elaborate first of all just give a short commentary on my
00:00:11.220 match yesterday. You didn't actually miss anything because I didn't announce anything. I didn't want
00:00:16.760 to talk about it before I've actually done it because you know in previous endeavors it's
00:00:22.240 always been the case that you've been able to see my results in the gym and you know you've seen
00:00:27.580 the results of my physique in the videos. So I didn't want to talk about any performance without
00:00:32.580 actually showing it first. So that's why I saved this video after the competition. So yeah you can
00:00:39.760 see the match and you know the performance right there. And the reason for competing was also that
00:00:45.220 I wanted to go up with the lads in my team to support them and then I thought like okay cool
00:00:49.400 going up to Dublin might as well join the fray myself and compete. Get some experience, win-lose
00:00:55.820 it would have been you know a level for me to just overcome that nervousness and everything. And I
00:01:00.580 gave everything I got and then got the gold medal and victory. But to be critical towards myself as
00:01:08.120 you need to be in order to progress I was not the most impressed with my own performance because I
00:01:14.220 know myself and you all know that I'm really strong and I used too much strength and too little technique.
00:01:20.100 Now I'm not uncomfortable with my technique. I think my technique is quite good indeed but I
00:01:25.780 since I'm more comfortable in my strength I tended to use that instead. So a mental note to myself
00:01:33.600 in coming times in order for me to progress you know win-lose it's all about progression in my book
00:01:38.860 and that is to use more technique. And I need to work a lot more on my cardio because I was quite
00:01:44.780 dead after the competition as it were as my teammates will and will tell you. So with that said
00:01:51.660 let me talk a bit about something that a video that I wanted to make since I made the prepare for war
00:01:58.020 video. Now since day one like always always even forever I said that you should lift and progress in
00:02:05.640 the gym. That's the basic you can't get away from that. And now I also added that you should have some
00:02:10.280 sort of martial arts a few times at least. Two, three times optimally or if you prefer martial arts
00:02:16.260 more martial arts and then lift at least two times a week. So you know you have to combine those two.
00:02:21.700 And to anyone, to any guys in Sweden who's watching this in and around the Stockholm area
00:02:27.020 I may or may not have a fun little thing coming up next summer and if you want to prepare for that
00:02:33.060 I suggest that you get a good you know familiarize yourself with sparring but I will announce that
00:02:40.420 and give more details in a few months because it's next summer so it's quite a long time but you know
00:02:45.820 if you want to prepare for that. Either fucking way. To the main point of this video how do you best
00:02:51.680 combine martial arts and gym? For me right now as I said in a previous video I train martial arts
00:02:57.920 you know MMA and the focus the last few weeks has been on the grappling part. So I train that three
00:03:04.420 times a week. I might add in more days as well and then I've trained you know with the weights five
00:03:10.160 times a week and the best way to do it is to do the weights before training MMA because when you go
00:03:18.940 with the weights the main priority is to progress to give everything you have physically. In MMA it's more
00:03:25.480 about speed, flexibility, technique, everything like that. So you don't really need that much power
00:03:31.820 when you're just training. Obviously I trained lightly the day before the competition for this
00:03:38.480 Brazilian Jitsunogi but when it's just the regular training week it won't affect you that much if you
00:03:45.860 lift before especially if it's only an hour of MMA training. Now our sessions are two and a half hours
00:03:52.200 so that's a different game and I'm going with just you know a lighter session some seal rows and some
00:03:58.600 dips maybe half an hour before MMA. So I still have some energy for the two and a half hours of MMA.
00:04:04.280 But if it's only like one hour of ground game or stand-up or anything you can have a longer session
00:04:09.660 of lifting before. Now if you do it the other way around if you lift afterwards that is not as good of
00:04:16.260 an idea because then you've spent a lot of energy and then you will have a really hard time progressing
00:04:22.140 with the weights. Now if that's your preferred method of doing things for whatever reason feel
00:04:29.280 free to do so but do not do never skip the gym and I'm not saying this because the weights are
00:04:36.280 necessarily more important that you should keep them first but it's the it's the same relationship
00:04:41.480 between deadlift and squats. If you do deadlifts first you can't really progress as well in the
00:04:46.960 squats if you do them the same session but if you do squats first and deadlift afterwards you can
00:04:52.020 still progress in the deadlift because deadlift is such a more heavy exercise and it's inverted when
00:04:59.160 it comes to lifting and MMA. So I suggest that you do the lifting before if you train on the same day
00:05:05.320 other than that you can try to keep them separate so you get some sort of energy in or if you have the
00:05:11.260 case that the gym is at the same place you could eat something perhaps have some sort of shake with
00:05:17.340 you some fruit eat it and then go into MMA but my main point with the video is that get the lifting
00:05:23.500 done first because that is dependent on your performance physically whereas the martial arts is
00:05:30.020 more dependent on your mind that you learn and then obviously it depends on what kind of session it is
00:05:36.820 you could do a really hard MMA session with a lot of focus on the physical part and then do a lighter
00:05:43.080 bodybuilding type session but you could not do a two and a half hours MMA session and then go in and
00:05:49.300 perform in the big heavy compound movements whereas on the other side you could perform even though you're
00:05:54.920 tired in your muscles you can still perform in the MMA training because that's more dependent on other
00:05:59.640 factors as well. So I hope that was informative if you have any questions related to this comment below
00:06:06.840 and I'll try to answer them and if there is a particularly interesting question I might make a
00:06:12.040 follow-up video on it and yes I will make more videos from my martial arts training as well you know
00:06:18.140 to keep the channel interesting because you've already seen me squat like 10 times already so I'm you know
00:06:23.780 spicing up a bit. And who am I? I'm the chosen of Kuhulan XXO. Boom!
