00:00:00.000 Greetings, Jordan Peterson. I have come to fact check you.
00:00:05.000 Now, for those of you who don't know what I'm talking about,
00:00:09.000 recently, Jordan Peterson, whom I like,
00:00:13.000 he has made a few tweets basically calling anonymous commentators, anonymous posters, cowards.
00:00:21.000 Now, I understand where he is coming from.
00:00:24.000 I understand that he is sick of anonymous individuals using their anonymity to insult others
00:00:32.000 or to say things that are outrageous and edgy for the sake of it.
00:00:39.000 But I would say that if you were to ask me the question,
00:00:44.000 does being anonymous make you a coward?
00:00:47.000 No, it doesn't. I think it makes you intelligent and prudent
00:00:51.000 because it's not so fun to have your life destroyed.
00:00:55.000 It's not so fun being cancelled as has happened to many individuals.
00:01:00.000 And there is a price to be paid if you stray from the moral framework,
00:01:10.000 which I have discussed at length in my podcast, which you can listen to.
00:01:16.000 And yeah, you're all familiar with cancel culture.
00:01:21.000 So it can be worth staying under the radar, living a normal life, having a normal job,
00:01:27.000 so that you can support those who are public figures who can't get a normal job because, yeah,
00:01:33.000 they have been cancelled because they say certain things, they express certain political opinions,
00:01:41.000 which aren't within the aforementioned moral framework.
00:01:47.000 Now, I've been cancelled for as long as I have been a public figure, basically.
00:01:52.000 So, yeah, and my great crime, you ask, it's always quite hard to explain why you are cancelled,
00:02:01.000 because it's such a sensible, centrist position.
00:02:08.000 So, basically, what I have said is that I believe it's wrong for Europeans to be replaced in their own countries.
00:02:15.000 Therefore, I am a right-wing extremist or whatever label they use.
00:02:21.000 So, it's not always so nice to be cancelled.
00:02:24.000 And if there isn't any need...
00:02:27.000 For me, there is actually a need to be a public figure because of my unique talents and everything like that.
00:02:33.000 But you don't need to be a public figure to do good things.
00:02:36.000 You can still be a good influence on the metapolitical struggle being anonymous,
00:02:45.000 as long as you post good things and you lay out arguments in a coherent and appealing manner.
00:02:55.000 So, I'd say it's quite unfair to label anonymous posters cowards.
00:02:59.000 I could agree with Jordan Peterson that the individuals who use their anonymity to insult others,
00:03:10.000 yeah, they could be called cowards, but to simply be prudent to stay under the radar for the sake of not being cancelled,
00:03:17.000 it's absolutely a valid course of action.
00:03:21.000 And it absolutely does not make you a coward.
00:03:24.000 Now, there is something to be said, though, about these individuals who view the very survival of European civilization.
00:03:34.000 They view it as a joke, they view it as a hobby, as a distraction.
00:03:38.000 Then, of course, they go online, post very controversial things just for the sake of it,
00:03:46.000 because it's supposed to be edgy and controversial.
00:03:49.000 They want the kick of being radical, pseudo-radical, pseudo-edgy.
00:03:54.000 You can't really be edgy if you're anonymous.
00:03:56.000 So, there is that danger, and I do believe that anonymity, it also causes a lot of damage,
00:04:04.000 but in order for us to have a free discourse, and I'm hardly the first one who says this,
00:04:11.000 in order for us to truly have freedom of speech, truly have an open and honest discourse,
00:04:17.000 we need anonymity, because otherwise there is always the risk of paying a very heavy price for criticizing the wrong individuals.
00:04:28.000 So, again, they say we have freedom of speech, which we don't in Europe, for example,
00:04:35.000 we don't have freedom of speech in the same way as you have in the US.
00:04:39.000 But even in the US, where you supposedly have freedom of speech, if you say the wrong thing,
00:04:45.000 you will be cancelled, and yeah, I mean, it's worse than a prison sentence for many.
00:04:50.000 In Sweden, you can go to prison for, you know, a thought crime for a few months,
00:04:55.000 but if you're not cancelled, that might actually be a more lenient punishment in many ways.
00:05:02.000 So, I would say that having the option to remain anonymous, it's a fundamental key to having a truly honest discussion.
00:05:13.000 So, anyway, just a short check-in from this beautiful winter landscape with my thoughts to recap.
00:05:22.000 You do absolutely not need to feel bad for staying anonymous.
00:05:26.000 I think it's a good thing. I think it's good, intelligent, prudent to be anonymous.
00:05:32.000 As long as you don't misuse that anonymity to behave in a dishonourable manner.
00:05:38.000 So, don't post things that you don't really mean, don't insult people, just try to present your opinions in a normal way,
00:05:47.000 like a normal person would, and all will be well.
00:05:51.000 And I can say the following as well, that it's quite annoying as a public figure to have to deal with anonymous posters
00:06:00.000 and posting a lot of truly, well, I will state this diplomatically, truly unintelligent things on your posts.
00:06:12.000 And they cover behind anonymity.
00:06:15.000 Again, if you can express yourself as a normal person, it's good.
00:06:20.000 If you can't handle that, then you shouldn't post at all.
00:06:23.000 So, anyway, do stay anonymous if you want. Do support the guys and girls who are out in the open.
00:06:30.000 And, yeah, view anonymity as a gift that you should use responsibly.
00:06:38.000 And now also, lastly, to Jordan Pitchum.
00:06:41.000 If you happen to watch this, you need to dominate your inner chaos.
00:06:46.000 I understand that your emotions, they run hot when you've had your fill of these guys who are anonymously criticizing you
00:06:56.000 and, you know, comment disrespectful things towards you.
00:06:59.000 I don't endorse this in the least. I think you should be respectful towards him.
00:07:05.000 But, Jordan Pitchum, you can't let your emotions dictate a good policy for freedom of speech.
00:07:12.000 Freedom of speech, you need to conquer your inner chaos.
00:07:18.000 So, yeah, that being said, thank you all for watching XXO.
00:07:21.000 Boom!
