00:00:00.000Hello lads! Welcome back to the Swedish history series. I am checking in from an Iron Age fortress.
00:00:10.000So this was in use during the 4 or 5 hundreds AD. So a bit earlier than the Viking Age.
00:00:19.000And there is a little legend about this fortress that there lived a woman here who inherited a large fortune from her father.
00:00:29.000And she had a lot of suitors who perhaps they were out for the inheritance as well. Who knows?
00:00:35.000But she spurned them all and one day there came a raiding party and sacked the castle.
00:00:43.000Might be some truth to it even though it's a legend. I don't know.
00:00:47.000But what I do know is if you look around you here it's quite far from the coast.
00:00:54.000But during that time, during the Iron Age and Viking Age, the sea level was much higher than it is today.
00:01:02.000So this was actually connected to the sea. And the next location I will show in this video was also connected to the sea.
00:01:11.000So right now this is out in the forest basically. But back in the day it was an important hub where you could go out into Viking or you could trade and stuff.
00:01:25.000So a lot more connected back then. So that is where I'm at.
00:01:32.000Iron Age fortress. So yeah, you can have a look around the common sequence of this place.
00:01:38.000And then we'll move on to another place which you might be familiar with since I've taken a lot of pictures there.
