00:01:18.340 Hello, everybody. I'm Lou Dobbs and welcome to The Great America Show. It is great to have
00:01:27.060 you with us. Thanks for joining us. We're only halfway through the week and it's already been
00:01:31.380 an eventful week on Capitol Hill. Yesterday, our friend Congressman Tim Burchett was giving
00:01:36.620 an interview to NPR when the neighborhood wannabe gangster and former Speaker of the House,
00:01:41.720 Kevin McCarthy, walked by with his security detail and then elbowed Burchett from behind,
00:01:47.260 a blow to his kidney. Here's Tim telling us how it happened. Well, I was doing an interview with
00:01:54.200 Claudia from NPR, a lovely lady, and she was asking me a question and at that time I got elbowed in the
00:02:03.040 back and it kind of caught me off guard because it was a clean shot to the kidneys and I turned back
00:02:07.700 and there was Kevin. And for a minute, I was kind of, what the heck just happened? And then I chased
00:02:16.460 after him. Of course, he's, as I've stated many times, he's a bully with $17 million in a security
00:02:23.060 detail. He's the type of guy that when you're a kid would throw a rock over the fence and run home
00:02:28.080 and hide behind his mama's skirt. And he just, you know, he, he, uh, from behind that kind of stuff.
00:02:34.660 It, you know, that's not the way we handle things in East Tennessee. We, we, if we have a problem
00:02:38.460 with somebody, I'm going to look them in the eye and talk to him. That's Tim Burchett on CNN.
00:02:43.720 Burchett is a class act and a gentleman. McCarthy, obviously a pencil neck thuggish cretin with a
00:02:49.040 security detail. Congressman Burchett joins us here in just moments to give us the full story.
00:02:54.660 Across the street on the Senate side, Senator Mark Wayne Mullen getting into it with a Teamster
00:02:59.880 union boss, Sean O'Brien, during a hearing. Mullen was reading a tweet from O'Brien that made threats
00:03:06.260 toward the Senator. Mullen, a former MMA fighter, was ready to take up the issue with O'Brien.
00:03:12.620 He offered to fight and here is Senator Mullen in that hearing.
00:03:15.860 It's like he's self-made. Sir, I wish he was in the truck with me when I was building my plumbing
00:03:20.980 company myself and my wife was running the office because I sure remember working pretty hard in long
00:03:28.040 hours. Pretends like he's self-made. What a clown. Fraud. Always has been. Always will be. Quit the
00:03:38.260 tough guy act and these Senate hearings. You know where to find me. Any place, any time, cowboy.
00:03:44.600 Sir, this is a time. This is a place. You want to run your mouth. We can be two consenting adults.
00:03:51.400 We can finish it here. Okay, that's fine. Perfect. You want to do it now? I'd love to do it right now.
00:03:55.800 Well, stand your butt up then. You stand your butt up. Oh, hold on. Oh, stop it. Is that your
00:04:00.100 solution? No, no, sit down. Sit down. Okay. You know, you're a United States senator.
00:04:05.160 Sit down. Sit down. Okay. Sit down, please. All right. Can I respond? Hold it. Hold it.
00:04:11.400 If we can't. No, I have the mic. I'm sorry. This is what he said. Hold it. You'll have your time.
00:04:16.200 Okay. Can I respond? Oh, no, you can't. This is a hearing. Senator Bernie Sanders, by the way,
00:04:22.420 was that mediator you heard there briefly at the end. Folks, Capitol Hill is starting to sound a lot
00:04:27.680 like Dodge City in the day. After 11 months of having a rhino speaker of the House, we finally have an
00:04:33.480 America First speaker, Speaker Mike Johnson. Johnson yesterday did what Kevin McCarthy just
00:04:38.780 couldn't bring himself to do, endorse the only proven America First candidate in the race for
00:04:44.360 president. I have endorsed him wholeheartedly. Look, I was one of the closest allies that President
00:04:50.180 Trump had in Congress. He had a phenomenal first term. Those first two years, as you all know,
00:04:54.660 we brought about the greatest economic numbers in the history of the world, not just the country,
00:04:58.660 because his policies worked. And I'm all in for President Trump. I expect he'll be our nominee.
00:05:05.120 Yeah. And he's going to win it. And we have to make Biden a one-term president. We have to do that.
00:05:10.040 Speaker Johnson making it crystal clear his enthusiastic endorsement of President Trump
00:05:14.740 and the urgency of ending the Biden regime's destructive policies and direction. President
00:05:20.980 Trump remains under assault from every direction by the Marxist Dems. His biggest fanboy being,
00:05:26.940 of course, junkyard jackal special counsel, Jack Smith. Smith caught once again, letting his
00:05:32.560 aggressive nature get the best of him. The unhinged special counsel lashed out at President Trump in
00:05:38.480 another motion, opposing cameras in the courtroom for Trump's January 6th trial. Smith went so far as
00:05:45.520 to compare President Trump's case to the Boston Marathon bombers case. Smith's team also claimed Trump
00:05:52.040 wants to create a carnival atmosphere, hoping, Smith says, to distract from the charges against
00:05:58.420 him. Smith is the only one who's created a carnival atmosphere with his phony sham indictments that he
00:06:04.460 brought trying to interfere with President Trump and the outcome of the 2024 election. Smith is terrified
00:06:11.260 of having cameras in the courtroom because he's seen firsthand the effect it had on his poll numbers so far.
00:06:17.880 Smith is an awful coward and the American people have the right to know what's happening to their
00:06:23.620 president in a courtroom filled with Marxist Dems operatives and activists. And my guess is
00:06:30.520 the federal government understands that courtroom better be open. And the rhinos in the House of
00:06:36.900 Reps are hard at work protecting the Marxist Dems and the Biden administration who, well, they mean to
00:06:42.900 destroy America. On Monday, eight Republicans joined with the Marxist Dems to kill the impeachment of
00:06:49.000 DHS Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas. The eight, rather a symbolic number. It just so happens to be the same
00:06:57.300 number the Republicans who voted to oust McCarthy as Speaker. Was this retaliation by the Kevin McCarthy
00:07:03.740 supporters? Is that a conspiracy theory? Well, perhaps. But you can't help but notice the symmetry and the
00:07:10.560 symbolism that make it possible. Here are those eight rhinos who voted to save Mayorkas instead of
00:07:17.340 impeach him for what he has done to this country. They are Patrick McHenry of North Carolina, Tom
00:07:24.200 McClintock of California, Virginia Fox of North Carolina, Daryl Issa of California, Clint Bentz, Oregon,
00:07:32.060 Ken Buck, Colorado, Mike Turner, Ohio, and yes, John Duarte of California. A conspiracy? Maybe.
00:07:40.100 Maybe not. But when you see Ken Buck, Mike Turner, Tom McClintock, and McCarthy's best pal Patrick
00:07:47.580 McHenry and Virginia Fox all on the same list, it makes you wonder. I suspect those names will be on
00:07:54.740 the obstructionist list for a very long time. I want to bring in now our guest today, as promised,
00:08:00.380 Congressman Tim Burchett. Congressman, great to have you back with us on The Great America Show.
00:08:04.780 Kevin McCarthy, the government wannabe gangster. Tell us, if you will, in your words,
00:08:10.580 what went on between you and the fired Speaker of the House?
00:08:15.220 Well, we were leaving our conference meeting, and I'm always trying to do interviews with reporters,
00:08:22.620 especially those that maybe don't always get, you know, the first line of deal. And it was NPR,
00:08:28.660 a lady, her name's Claudia, and she tweeted it out. I've never, I haven't touched it on the internet
00:08:34.040 or anything. And she tweeted it out, but she was standing there, and we were talking about the
00:08:38.700 budget. And she's a very kind lady, and, you know, about what was going on in our conference meeting.
00:08:44.080 And somebody hit me in my, you know, in the kidneys from behind, elbowed me or what have you.
00:08:53.080 And I felt, I kind of fell forward into her. And she said, she said, Oh my gosh, she said,
00:09:00.340 I've never seen that happen up here before or something like that. And, and I turned. And of
00:09:06.400 course, I saw it was Kevin McCarthy, as he was walking by with his security detail. And I,
00:09:13.200 I just, I didn't know what to do. I mean, it's kind of, I was a little bit in shock, you know,
00:09:19.060 and then, and then I, and then I, honestly, I got ticked off about it. Maybe it wasn't the right
00:09:25.040 thing to do, but I hollered at him. And then he kind of rushed me off. And I, so I ran down the hall,
00:09:31.980 said, Hey, what the heck was that about? You know, and it's just a gutless move. I thought it was a,
00:09:37.460 a sad asterisk on, on the end of his career. And he could have gone out on a high note,
00:09:42.680 but he chose to do that. You know, he's, he's sitting on $17 million, which he'll use to play
00:09:47.980 in all eight of our campaigns, I'm sure. And he's, you know, it's just, I think it shows the
00:09:56.600 character of the person. I think that shows a very good reason why he should not be the third in line
00:10:02.800 to the president of the United States. Yeah. At the, at the, at the least he should not be that
00:10:09.060 at the most he should have had the guts to talk to you straight up as a man. I just, I, I, I haven't
00:10:18.180 got a very high opinion of Kevin McCarthy and I haven't from the very beginning. I'm not a newcomer
00:10:24.080 to that position, but, uh, and I'll admit that I have some, uh, sometimes base instincts, but this
00:10:31.400 man, uh, is asking for somebody to whip his butt. Uh, I just can't believe he would behave like that.
00:10:39.120 Well, I don't know what to tell you. It was an unfortunate situation. Um, you know, it's just
00:10:45.060 unfortunate. First he said he didn't, it didn't, it didn't happen. Now he's saying he told somebody,
00:10:50.440 he brushed, he's trying to brush me out of the way. And now he's told somebody that he was, um,
00:10:57.520 he doesn't even remember having any contact with me. So, you know, he kind of needs to make up his
00:11:01.700 mind and it's just, it's just a pitiful situation. Well, this from a speaker, the only speaker in
00:11:08.440 history to go into a negotiation with the president of the United States on the death ceiling limits and
00:11:14.180 walk out having not only lost the argument about what the death ceiling would be or when, uh, he,
00:11:19.560 he, he lost even the limits. I mean, we've got a debt ceiling, but no limit. I mean, it's the most
00:11:25.740 outrageous thing I've ever seen. Uh, so what has been the reaction of your colleagues in the,
00:11:31.800 in the conference? Surprisingly, even his supporters have been very supportive of me.
00:11:39.340 Some joke around about it, but others see the seriousness of it and just see just how pitiful it is.
00:11:45.140 Um, I'm not, I'm honestly not a confrontational person. I don't, I'm not looking for a fight
00:11:52.040 with him or anybody else. I just, I got to do what I've sworn to do. And, um, you know, and I've had
00:11:59.420 numerous people reach out to me, of course, all over the country. Um, but even people in his own
00:12:07.000 district. So it's just a very unfortunate situation and it just seems to get more, more, more and more so
00:12:13.880 in that direction. And I, people are asking, is this a indication of where the Republican party
00:12:18.820 is? And I say, heck no, it's an indication where Kevin McCarthy is. Yeah. Yeah. It's just unfortunate.
00:12:25.280 You know, it's interesting. You say that because, uh, there will be those who like to expand the
00:12:31.060 issue too. Well, it's all about the Republican party in a, in a glorious way. I hope it is.
00:12:37.100 And by that, I mean, this Kevin McCarthy, so frustrated at being held accountable for breaking
00:12:43.100 his promises, uh, to you and the rest of the Republican conference, never dreamed that he
00:12:48.420 would be held accountable and lose his job because he lied, uh, cheated and stole from you, uh, which is
00:12:54.140 what I, I consider a lie to be, uh, particularly when you're talking about the numbers of dollars that
00:13:00.080 he's responsible for wasting, uh, through his, uh, ignorance, uh, it's that's and weakness. Uh, so I think
00:13:07.560 it's, it's great. I think it shows how right you all were to, uh, to reject him as the speaker. Uh, and,
00:13:14.600 and he is now known to all for what he is and that there's no getting back from that, no matter who he
00:13:22.900 aligns himself with going forward, no matter if he tries to primary you all. Uh, but that raises another
00:13:29.200 question, uh, if I may, Tim, and that is how does he have control of $17 million? He's no longer the
00:13:36.700 speaker of the house. Yeah. Well, that's money that was given to him, um, to go after candidates.
00:13:46.080 And unfortunately, some of those were Republicans. And so I guess he still has control over it and
00:13:52.540 that's unfortunate. Yeah. Can, uh, I think that's something that could be contested very seriously.
00:13:59.200 And I'm talking about legally, uh, it could be contested in lots of ways, but let's start with,
00:14:04.640 uh, the court system. Have you, have you all been in conference and talked with the new speaker
00:14:11.720 about what you're to do about that? Because this is outrageous that this man removed his speaker would
00:14:18.620 be in control of money that was given to the speaker of the house, not to a, uh, a rogue member
00:14:26.360 of the conference. Yeah, I'm, I'm sure, but you're going to have to go back to where some of the money
00:14:33.380 came from. And I, I'm afraid I've heard from multiple sources that some of it came, um, um,
00:14:41.760 you know, I, I don't know. I've heard this bankman freed guy gave money. Um, and so, you know,
00:14:50.840 at some point of the court's going to request that back, they gave a, they gave a bunch to Democrats
00:14:55.260 and, and a few dollars to a few Republicans, but it'd be interesting if they're going to require
00:15:00.840 that to be returned. And, um, you know, it just was this money given for, you know, just to do what
00:15:09.740 he saw fit to do with, I don't know. I don't know. I, you know, a lot of that money I'm sure was given
00:15:14.660 to elect Republicans and, um, and that was the caveat. And so, um, I, I don't know. I just don't
00:15:23.860 know. I'm, I'm, I'm, I'm a little, I'm, I'm not the legal person. I've thought about that. Um,
00:15:29.560 especially since I've recently heard about, I've been asked about it by other media members than
00:15:35.680 yourself. And, um, and so that's a great curiosity because if he's able to, then I think that sets
00:15:43.180 a very bad precedence about where we're headed. Yeah. This is, it's truly nauseating to think that
00:15:49.840 this man was the speaker of the, uh, of the house of representatives. It just, I said, it's just,
00:15:58.020 can you hear me now? Yes, sir. I'm sorry. It's nauseating to think that this man was speaker of
00:16:05.660 the house and with his conduct, uh, it's, we're going to take a quick break here, uh, congressman,
00:16:11.900 we're going to come right back. And when we do, I'm going to ask you, uh, what do you think the
00:16:17.620 conference and the speaker should do, uh, to this man for his conduct, because he is outside every
00:16:23.640 bound of, uh, uh, of professional conduct and decency. We're coming right back. We're talking with
00:16:31.180 a great American congressman, Tim Burchett. We'll be right back.
00:16:41.040 We're back with Congressman Tim Burchett and Congressman, let me ask you this. It's, uh,
00:16:47.240 is there, is it in your mind at all to, to bring an assault charge against him for hitting you?
00:16:53.000 No, I've been asked actually, um, by several people about that. Uh, you know, and I'm not
00:16:59.740 going to file an ethics complaint. I'm about civility and governing and honestly. Um, and so
00:17:06.680 I just don't think that's going to help matters. I'm, I'm a big boy, you know, in East Tennessee
00:17:10.980 or in Tennessee in general, most of our fights are handled face to face. It's not the sucker punches.
00:17:16.860 Maybe that's the way it's done in California. I don't know, but we're going to, we're going to
00:17:21.580 take the high road on this one and just, and just do what, what we should do. And that's,
00:17:27.120 we're going to get back to running this country. I'd hope this is a, this is a terrible distraction,
00:17:32.120 Lou, as you can realize. And it's, um, we need to be focusing on what's going on in Israel right
00:17:38.960 now and then focusing on our budget and getting, getting something out of here. Um, that's,
00:17:44.040 that's acceptable.
00:17:45.720 Well, I, I would expect nothing less of you than the response you've just given us.
00:17:50.520 I want to turn to that issue on the staggered laddered, uh, CR. Are you going to support
00:17:57.440 that? The proposal of the new speaker, uh, Mike Johnson?
00:18:02.420 Uh, no, I'm not. I support Mike Johnson. I think it's just a, um, it's, it's just a
00:18:08.400 continuation. And I see that. And they're talking about, um, uh, you know, they're, it's, uh,
00:18:17.600 continued funding Pelosi's and Schumer's old, old programs, our terrible situation at the
00:18:24.400 border, all of our woke programs that we're funding all over the world. And it's just a
00:18:28.220 continuation of that Lou reality is, but Mike Johnson's had two weeks to work on it. Kevin
00:18:33.860 McCarthy had since January, and then he jammed us up against the September 30th deadline by
00:18:39.660 taking the entire month of August and two weeks into September. And he, um, you know,
00:18:46.300 it just, he, uh, uh, put us in a bad situation and that's the way they do it on purpose because
00:18:53.020 that's the way they grease the lobbyists and take care of the special interest. And then
00:18:56.900 folks like me and you never know what's in it until it's the classic Nancy Pelosi. You got
00:19:01.340 to pass it to know what's in it. So I'm, uh, you know, but I do support Mike. He's in a tough,
00:19:07.600 tough position, but he has not lied to us. So I take that as a, as a good sign.
00:19:12.540 I take it as a good sign too, but I also take it as a better sign. If the man stands up and says,
00:19:17.400 hell or high most, you're not going to, uh, get a, get a response from us that you demand.
00:19:23.300 You're going to get our response. And if it takes an extra month, it's so be it
00:19:27.020 because you put us in this position. I am so sick and tired. And I know you,
00:19:31.520 you must be as well of seeing, uh, seeing the, the good guys lose because they want to play by
00:19:37.700 the rules. Uh, this is time to win. It is not a time to stand up and, uh, uh, you know,
00:19:43.900 virtue signal. This is a time to win for the American people. And I, I know you agree with me on that.
00:19:50.420 Uh, 100% Lou. That's, that's, that's primarily the reason I won't be voting for it. I just can't
00:19:56.620 in good conscience do that. I think we've, we're rewarding bad behavior and, um, you know,
00:20:02.700 and I think the Democrats are, are holding out on this laddered CR, which is just a continuation
00:20:09.080 to me is laughable. Uh, it's exactly what they want. And they're going to, they're brayer rabbit.
00:20:14.080 Oh, don't throw me in that brayer patch, you know? And it's, it's right where they want to be.
00:20:19.560 It's the spending levels that they've requested. It's all the crazy liberal programs that they want.
00:20:24.580 And how are any, you know, it's like the, uh, the refusal, uh, to, uh, to impeach Mayorkas,
00:20:33.860 the refusal. Oh my gosh. Yeah. Send it back to committee. You know, I, you know, going back to
00:20:39.800 this budget thing, Lou, one thing that needs to be made clear, we're funding terrorists. I, I,
00:20:45.220 this morning in testimony, I got, I tweeted about it at my app in merchant Twitter site. Um, we,
00:20:51.760 we are funding the Taliban, $10 million. We found just through our United nations, which is American
00:20:59.520 tax dollars, you know, that gun, what are we even doing in the UN? All they do is fund our enemies
00:21:04.740 and spy on us and burn our flag. And then we've got $7 billion worth of armament that we know that
00:21:11.660 we've, that we've given them to this administration. So, you know, those are the kinds of things that
00:21:17.620 we continue to fund. We're, we're funding Hamas. They'll say, Oh, it's humanitarian aid, but you
00:21:22.660 know, good and well, uh, this is, you're going to give Hamas money that a group that has pulled up
00:21:28.420 the water pipes. And, um, so they can build missiles and they've jacked up their water table
00:21:35.320 and it's got all it's sewage and, and water all running together. And so they're just poisoning their
00:21:40.860 own people. And yet this is the people that they voted in. And yet this country is backdooring them
00:21:46.960 money, millions and millions of dollars. And they're saying it's, it's, we're taking care of
00:21:51.780 the kids. We're, you know, building hospitals, what have you. And then they put their hospital
00:21:55.360 on top of the largest, their largest military installation. So we've got to, we can do better.
00:22:01.580 We need to do better. We need to do our homework. And I'm with you. I'm, I'm, I'm ready to die on the
00:22:08.180 page because we're going to lose our country. If we can't get this fiscal ship in order.
00:22:12.800 No doubt about it. I strongly believe in that view. Uh, we are at an existential moment where
00:22:18.960 this is a pivotal moment in our history. And I can't, I can't, I can't express how disappointed
00:22:25.740 I think most Americans are right now who saw Mike Johnson is the great hope after Kevin McCarthy.
00:22:32.220 Uh, and I have to close with this. Why does, uh, I'm going to ask one question first. Why the heck
00:22:41.660 does Kevin McCarthy still have a security detail? He's no longer speaker.
00:22:47.160 That's a good question. That was brought up to me today as one of them kind of brushed me off.
00:22:52.440 Um, as I was getting in the middle of his little posse, I guess, so to speak.
00:22:56.940 Um, I have no idea. I don't know how that works. I wouldn't want him, I wouldn't wish, wish him any
00:23:04.060 harm, but I, you know, I live with the threats all the time and even back in Tennessee. So, um,
00:23:11.540 yeah. And then I've had security details try to follow me and, you know, I've had the, um,
00:23:17.580 air marshals in airports come up to me and, and I, you know, and so I get it that I don't know.
00:23:25.300 I'm not, I'm not, I'm just not sure. I don't know the rules. I don't know the rules on that.
00:23:29.760 Had him come up to me to say they were, I guess, assigned to me. I don't know. I, you know,
00:23:34.440 maybe something, you know, I'm a lover, not a fighter. I can't believe anybody would want to
00:23:38.560 take out Tim Burchett, but I guess at some point that was the case. I don't know. You know,
00:23:42.960 and some, something was going on up here. I wasn't really sure, but you know, they followed me out
00:23:47.300 of the plane when I, we went, we had to be, we went to, uh, Charlotte, um, um, a year ago or so.
00:23:55.240 Well, I'm glad that, uh, the right kind of people have the right kind of guy, uh, that they want to
00:24:01.580 protect. So, uh, good for you and good for all of us. In conclusion, why would, why would
00:24:09.440 Mike Johnson give in to the Dems, uh, not even a month into the job?
00:24:15.700 I think he's just trying to get his feet on the ground. Well, he needs to get a little air
00:24:19.720 and, um, he truly wants to pass a budget. And I believe that, but, um, well, you know,
00:24:26.440 everybody's worried about losing, losing the majority. I'm worried about losing the country.
00:24:30.900 Yeah. If we can't, if we can't figure out this spending, I, I go back to the night Bill Clinton
00:24:36.420 won the white house and there was my daddy and me. We'd worked the polls. We were watching the
00:24:40.940 results. We were having a, as I like to say, a traditional Italian meal of a Mr. Daddy's pizza
00:24:46.040 in front of us. And daddy said the blessing. It was one of those little portable colored TVs was on our
00:24:50.700 living room table there at 82 20 Bennington drive in West Knoxville. And daddy, he said a simple
00:24:56.100 prayer. He said, Lord, please don't let us lose our country. And I find myself saying that prayer
00:25:02.600 over and over because I really think the country that Charlie Burchett fought and killed people
00:25:09.020 for and Joyce Burchett lost her brother fighting the Nazis. My daddy was all fighting the Japanese
00:25:13.380 and she flew and my mama flew an airplane during the second world. That country is, we're closing
00:25:20.120 the door on that country. I'm afraid. Well, I know you've got your foot in the door and we thank
00:25:26.120 you for all that you're doing and all that you do, uh, for this country, uh, Congressman,
00:25:31.600 Tim Burchett. Thanks for being with us here on the great America show. Always great to talk with you
00:25:35.540 and, uh, uh, God bless America. Yes, sir. Thank you, Lou. And to keep putting out the truth,
00:25:41.980 brother, that's we're over the target. Just keep firing. And God bless Tim Burchett. Thank you.
00:25:48.420 Thank you, brother. Thanks to Congressman Burchett. Thank you everybody for being with us today.
