00:00:52.700 President Trump previously had filed a motion to dismiss Jack Smith's classified documents prosecution based on the, quote,

00:01:06.180 And over in Georgia, Fannie Willis, well, her charges against President Trump don't look like they're going to go to trial.
00:01:13.900 Before the 2024 election, the Georgia Court of Appeals Wednesday decided to halt all proceedings in the Trump-RICO case
00:01:23.380 until that court rules on the effort to disqualify Fannie Willis from the case altogether.
00:01:30.140 The disqualification hearing is not set until October 4th, which would give them a month to try the case before the election.

00:03:27.920 I think the first quick way to get a grasp on just what a huge force Arabella is,

00:03:34.840 In the 2020 cycle, 19 and 20, their nonprofit, they run a whole network of nonprofits and for-profit.
00:03:42.760 The nonprofits took in $2.4 billion in the 2020 cycle.
00:03:48.740 That was a billion dollars more than the Republican National Committee and Democrat National Committee combined.
00:03:55.440 And then in 22, an off year, we think, well, surely it goes down.

00:03:59.600 Went up to $3 billion.
00:04:01.400 Again, more than the DNC, the RNC, and both parties, Senate and House committees, by half a billion.

00:04:22.240 The name Arabella goes to the for-profit consulting company or Beltway Bandit, they would say, in D.C.

00:04:35.940 And then the nonprofits, in turn, create hundreds of little fake groups like Keep Iowans Healthy and Floridians for a Fair Shake.
00:04:43.380 And so you have a handful of people in D.C.
00:04:46.880 And the founder, by the way, of course, was a trust fund baby and a Clinton administration worker.
00:04:52.240 They set up the for-profit consulting company that, legally speaking, it gets hired by the nonprofits.
00:05:00.580 But, of course, it created the nonprofits that the money goes into.
00:05:04.680 So it's quite the complicated web.

00:05:09.220 And I think most people would be surprised to hear that nonprofits are spawned by profit companies.
00:05:18.900 And, boy, do the profit companies profit from it.
00:05:22.380 Well, at this point, it's hundreds of millions that the for-profit company has taken in in fees from those nonprofits.
00:05:33.120 So, yes, they do well by themselves.
00:05:35.820 It employs hundreds of people.
00:05:38.360 And it's created, as far as those, you know, the only thing your viewers are going to see are the fake groups, right?

00:05:46.360 And there are over 500 of those that it's created.

00:05:56.760 I mean, this is a lot of money, as you've documented, a huge amount of money to push across the board.

00:06:11.540 So, first of all, if you wondered, like, is it really a partisan operation?
00:06:16.240 I have two words for you.
00:06:17.300 Mark Elias.
00:06:19.180 He is their lawyer.
00:06:22.300 And his law firm gets paid significantly, too, because he runs a couple of those fake groups, Democracy Docket, Democracy Docket Action Fund.
00:06:32.560 Those are run through the Arabella nonprofits.
00:06:34.920 So, that money goes to the Arabella and then they hire Elias to do work for them.
00:06:41.780 So, that pretty much answers the question, is this a serious partisan operation?

00:06:47.560 But the other things that it does, besides helping Elias sue to degrade election integrity, keep people off the ballot that they don't like,
00:06:58.420 it also is active on virtually every issue area in America.
00:07:02.420 Warren Buffett uses it to put tons of money into abortion advocacy.
00:07:08.440 Bill Gates uses it for all kinds of health policy fights that he's in.
00:07:12.940 Mark Zuckerberg uses it to fight for soft on crime prosecutors.
00:07:18.640 They do all kinds of work in the environmental space, Medicaid expansion, on and on and on.
00:07:25.000 It's, when you say partisan, I mean, this is just not partisanship.
00:07:31.460 This is a full driving force in our body politic.
00:07:36.320 And it's all but irresistible to think that you can somehow get out of their way, because they are.
00:07:48.380 On every issue, as you say, it seems they have a role.
00:07:52.460 On every candidacy, not every candidacy, but certainly every party, in a significant way, they push what they want.
00:08:00.020 And there's never been, to my knowledge, a counter to your point about Mark Elias.
00:08:06.300 I said some time ago that the Republicans ought to put aside half a billion dollars and hire Mark Elias,
00:08:13.720 because there really is no counterpart to him in the Republican Party.
00:08:19.520 And the devastation that he has done to the Republicans is significant.
00:08:24.160 And that price tag that I put on it, a half a billion, I think that would be simply tip money for what it's cost, the Republicans and the economy.
00:08:35.180 Now, that's quite reasonable.
00:08:37.000 And I'll throw, by the way, yet another thing on the pile about the way they mess with our elections.
00:08:43.660 The main nonprofit charity, legally speaking, that got 350 of the 420 million Zuck bucks, Arabella Group's work with its newest version.
00:08:57.480 It rebranded to something called the Alliance for Election Excellence.
00:09:01.820 Arabella works with that group.
00:09:03.380 And, by the way, all the way back in 2020, Arabella threw $25 million of its nonprofit money on top of the 350 million that Zuckerberg gave to that main pass-through of his.
00:09:18.360 So Arabella was also involved in the Zuck bucks scam in 2020 and now in the latest, you know, reimagination of Zuck bucks that's going on now.

00:13:00.620 And it's a fascinating, I think, subject for everyone to look at.
00:13:04.720 We were talking about the counterpoint, that there is no Mark Elias as there is in the Democratic Party, in the Republican Party.

00:13:16.900 Why is there such a dominance in the Democrat Party personalities, if you will, talents that are so directed at simply driving the ideology and the partisan purpose of the Democrat Party?
00:13:33.880 Well, that's a that's a tricky question.
00:13:37.320 And it is certainly the case that part of the thing that helps the left out is they're the party of the rich.
00:13:45.200 Right. So your high powered lawyers, which really exists to do the bidding of the rich, are more likely to be with the party of the rich.
00:13:52.840 I think that's one thing. The other thing, too, is that, you know, leftism in its deeper forms, that's a substitute for religion.
00:14:01.600 It's a fake religion. Right.
00:14:03.500 And people on the other side of the spectrum are more likely to have real religion.
00:14:08.320 And so they don't look for their salvation in politics.
00:14:11.480 They just don't have the same kind of fierce passion and desperation in politics that the left does.
00:14:18.760 That's an interesting point. I hadn't thought about it that way.
00:14:22.920 The rise of left wing nonprofit journalism in this country.
00:14:27.120 It's crazy. It's crazy. ProPublica, then partisan activists like Media Matters, any number of groups.
00:14:36.600 What in the world? I don't see a counterpoint again in that to the in the Republican Party.
00:14:43.160 Why not?
00:14:45.280 Well, for one thing, the Republicans don't have something that's the equal of Arabella,
00:14:49.860 because two of the biggest of the fake news networks on the left,
00:14:54.360 the one set up Courier newsroom and then the state's newsroom, which together are active in the vast majority of states.
00:15:01.800 The number is like pushing 40 states where they have little fake local news outlets and the rest.
00:15:07.600 Arabella was part of that.
00:15:09.760 So having the machinery of Arabella helps the left to create all kinds of things like that in very effective ways.
00:15:20.320 And Arabella, what is its future?
00:15:22.020 What is there? Is there any dark cloud on the horizon?
00:15:26.480 Any threat from any quarter against all that concentrated economic as well as political power?
00:15:35.620 Well, I am happy to say that they you know, they've had a little bit of struggle financially recently.
00:15:41.900 They did lay off 10 percent of their very large workforce.
00:15:46.040 And maybe the more really dangerous thing is there is a very serious lawsuit that was brought by a black woman who was previously employed by them.
00:15:54.940 And she alleges, among other things, not only that she was racially discriminated against,
00:16:01.400 but also that she was retaliated against because she went to her bosses saying,
00:16:08.680 hey, you're not following all the complicated nonprofit laws that you need to be following to get away with the stuff you're doing.
00:16:16.640 Now, that lawsuit, you know, lawsuits take years to grind through and that's still grinding.
00:16:22.000 But a lot of documents have come out on the record already from that lawsuit.
00:16:27.100 And they are, as somebody who knows nonprofit law, they're pretty damning.
00:16:32.780 There definitely appear to have been serious misdeeds with some of the largest nonprofits in the Arabella network.
00:16:40.140 Well, what would be so egregious that a nonprofit, again, nonprofit sounds benign.
00:16:46.400 They're not greedy, obviously.
00:16:47.920 They they're just moving a little money around to where they can get, you know, gets a few quarters in their cups.
00:16:56.300 What is so egregious and alarming about their conduct?
00:17:01.400 Well, you know, there are two kinds of main nonprofits, the so-called 501c3s.
00:17:07.560 That's the charities that you get the tax deduction for writing a check to.
00:17:10.780 And then the 501c4s, those are the political nonprofits like the NRA or League of Conservation Voters.
00:17:17.880 Now, one of the many things that that the documents seem to suggest in that lawsuit is that a C3 charity that Arabella runs
00:17:28.500 was, in fact, controlling and operating a political C4 nonprofit that's theoretically was outside the Arabella network.
00:17:38.540 Now, a charity is not supposed to be running a C4 political nonprofit.
00:17:44.160 Charities are supposed to stay nonpartisan.
00:17:47.120 And that appears to be the case.
00:17:49.780 And the other thing that appears to be in the record is that once she blew the whistle on this, first of all, they immediately shut down that political nonprofit.
00:17:59.140 Right. They literally just closed its doors and then reopened it with almost the same name a couple of weeks later.
00:18:04.560 But the other thing they seem to have done is they had one of the Arabella C4 political nonprofits backdate the last 18 months or so of people's timesheets
00:18:16.620 because, apparently, they wanted to make it look like the Arabella C4 was operating this other C4, which would be kosher.
00:18:27.060 Which would be kosher, but it's also kosher that a for-profit corporation can sit there and working with what they've spawned, a nonprofit.

00:18:44.420 This sounds absolutely absurd.
00:18:45.940 Why would anybody not be charging ahead trying in Congress to make a name for himself or herself and go after these villainous nonprofits?
00:18:57.800 Well, Lou, from your lips to God's ears, because I've testified now seven times in Congress about Arabella and related issues,
00:19:07.140 like, for instance, their foreign billionaire who's given them a quarter billion dollars, Hans Wies.
00:19:13.960 And they've had me testify about this and talk about these bad things, but they have not done what I've urged them,
00:19:20.920 which is, why don't you have the president of the Wies Foundation next to me here at the witness table?

00:20:42.820 Well, based on what you've written, they could be very seriously sinister, and it's a great book,

00:20:52.720 Let's turn to all of this foreign money suddenly, though, that are using nonprofits to come into our electoral system.
00:21:00.620 How can that be permitted?
00:21:03.700 Well, it's slightly complicated.
00:21:06.700 Here's the thing.
00:21:08.080 Technically, they can't, as a foreign national like Hans Wies, this huge backer of the Arabella network,
00:21:14.160 they aren't supposed to write checks straight to a candidate, right?
00:21:19.040 Although Hans Wies used to do that to people like Dick Durbin,
00:21:22.520 and unfortunately nobody caught it until the statute of limitations expired.
00:21:26.100 But then he got smarter, and instead he started putting his money into the Arabella network.
00:21:30.920 Now, what could happen there, they promise that this never does,
00:21:34.520 but what could easily happen is he writes a check to one of those political nonprofits at this Arabella network,
00:21:41.180 and then that Arabella network writes a check to a super PAC, which he himself could not have done directly.
00:21:48.360 The 1630 fund that he's given a quarter billion dollars to, which is a political nonprofit run by Arabella,
00:21:57.040 is one of the biggest donators to House and Senate candidates across the country,
00:22:02.960 and also to state ballot initiatives across the country.
00:22:06.440 The 1630 fund has given $100 million over the last decade to those,
00:22:12.760 and you're starting to get a response.
00:22:16.240 Ohio, just this week, voted to forbid any foreign money going into state ballot initiatives in their state,
00:22:24.540 and I think that's something you're going to see a lot of other states do as well.
00:22:29.080 You know, that's entirely rational.
00:22:30.520 It just doesn't seem like it could be happening in this current political environment.
00:22:34.260 But doing the right thing, making it simple, straightforward.
00:22:39.080 Foreign money means it's foreign, and American politics are American politics.
00:22:45.880 It should be that simple.
00:22:46.840 There are also laws about it, as you pointed out, but those laws apparently don't have much in the way of teeth.
00:22:52.980 Let me turn to the amount of money that's being spent in Washington, D.C. right now,
00:22:59.380 because there are a lot of nonprofits.
00:23:01.240 There are a lot of those strategic firms that are working very hard to raise money always, to make money always.
00:23:12.460 Is it a healthy industry?
00:23:14.360 Is it getting richer?
00:23:16.320 Or is it on the wane in any way?
00:23:19.520 No, it's not on the wane at all.
00:23:23.380 And in fact, something that I try to stress to people is, since at least 2005, the year Arabella was founded,
00:23:32.060 the nonprofit tail has wagged the Democratic Party dog.
00:23:38.100 It is much more important who's the head of the Ford Foundation or Soros' Open Society Foundation or the Arabella Network.
00:23:46.840 Much more important who's got those jobs than whoever happens to be chairing the DNC this afternoon.
