The Great America Show - Mid-Day Update： April 14, 2026

00:00:00.000 Hello, everybody. I'm John Fawcett with this Great America Show midday update for Tuesday, April 14th.

00:00:04.680 Happy Tuesday, folks. Hope your days are off to a good start.

00:00:08.580 Where there's one, there's more.

00:00:10.080 Another Eric Swalwell accuser has come forward and spoke at a press conference in Beverly Hills earlier this morning.

00:00:15.320 This is the fifth Swalwell accuser to come forward named Lana Drews.

00:00:19.300 This alleged victim recounts how Eric Swalwell drugged her and raped her in 2018

00:00:23.640 and choked her to a point of unconsciousness in a West Hollywood hotel room.

00:00:28.880 She says in 2018, while she was working as a model in Beverly Hills and owned a fashion software company,

00:00:34.600 she had contact with Swalwell on three separate occasions.

00:00:38.160 She knew he was married at the time and that his wife was pregnant.

00:00:41.160 She says they were friends. 0.63

00:00:42.320 And on the third occasion, she says she believes that she was drugged and then violently raped by Swalwell.

00:00:49.220 Swalwell, of course, announcing yesterday that he'd resigned from Congress,

00:00:52.440 even though he said he would fight all these baseless accusations.

00:00:56.760 So I guess we're just going to have to wait and see.

00:00:59.840 Now, the ongoing sexual assault allegations surrounding him have caught the eye of FBI Director Cash Patel.

00:01:06.920 After his resignation, Patel released a statement calling for Swalwell to sit down with him and the FBI to share his story.

00:01:14.140 I guess we're going to have to find out now what's happening.

00:01:18.100 In addition now to being the FBI crosshairs,

00:01:21.400 Swalwell also faces investigations from the House Ethics Committee

00:01:24.260 and the Manhattan District Attorney.

00:01:26.460 It's nice to see the Manhattan District Attorney

00:01:28.020 deciding to go after somebody other than Trump.

00:01:31.780 And it appears there's a backroom deal going on in the Capitol

00:01:34.380 shortly after Eric Swalwell announced his resignation from Congress.

00:01:37.660 Congressman Tony Gonzalez announced his retirement.

00:01:40.780 Gonzalez also facing expulsion from Congress after it was revealed

00:01:43.720 he was having an affair with the staffer who died by suicide the poor woman lit herself on fire and

00:01:50.600 just like that tony gonzalez is going to be able to ride off into the sunset take his retirement

00:01:55.480 and leave i don't think congress should work like that and i certainly don't believe that low-life 0.95

00:02:01.460 scum like tony gonzalez should get off scot-free or eric swalwell or any of the other criminals 0.98

00:02:07.020 that are working in that building. 1.00

00:02:10.540 J.D. Vance, just back from a trip to the Middle East,

00:02:13.540 where he's trying to negotiate some sort of peace deal

00:02:15.260 with the terrorists of Iran, the mullahs of Iran,

00:02:18.600 not able to come to a deal.

00:02:20.340 J.D. Vance, in an interview earlier today,

00:02:21.920 says that he believes there was some good groundwork that was laid.

00:02:25.960 Let's take a listen.

00:02:26.940 I wouldn't just say that things went wrong.

00:02:28.820 I also think things went right.

00:02:30.180 We made a lot of progress, but we also made very clear,

00:02:32.820 and I think this is part of the progress we made,

00:02:34.700 what the terms where the United States could make some accommodation,

00:02:39.680 what terms we were flexible on,

00:02:41.600 and what things we absolutely needed to see

00:02:43.620 in order for the President of the United States to feel like he was getting a good deal.

00:02:47.680 And so we laid those things out.

00:02:49.780 We had some good conversations.

00:02:50.840 I think it was the first time that you'd ever seen the Iranian government,

00:02:56.700 the U.S. government, meet at such a high level,

00:02:58.340 maybe in the history of the current leadership of Iran.

00:03:02.460 So that's, I think, a positive.

00:03:03.720 And again, we did make some progress in the negotiation. 0.83

00:03:07.100 The big question from here on out is whether the Iranians will have enough flexibility,

00:03:12.360 whether the Iranians will accept the critical things that we need to see in order for things to get done. 0.53

00:03:17.700 Well, what are the red lines for Iran and what didn't they accept?

00:03:21.420 Why are we at the place we're at now?

00:03:23.620 Yeah, so back out just a little bit, Brett.

00:03:25.680 What the President of the United States has said is, number one, Iran can never have a nuclear weapon.

00:03:29.440 So all of our red lines flow from that fundamental premise because it is one thing for the Iranians to say that they themselves are never going to have a nuclear weapon. 0.91

00:03:38.900 They are willing to say that. And that's good. But you have to, of course, verify these things.

00:03:43.380 And there are two things in particular where the president of the United States really said we have no flexibility.

00:03:48.160 We have to get to the outcome that the president said on the first of those things.

00:03:52.760 What some people call the dust, which is the enriched uranium that the Iranians currently possess. 0.99

00:03:59.660 We have said that we want that to come out of their country and we would like to take possession of it. 0.99

00:04:05.060 Now, why does that matter?

00:04:06.100 That doesn't matter, of course, because they have access to that material now.

00:04:09.520 That access, that material is actually buried underground by Operation Midnight Hammer.

00:04:14.400 But if you think about this over the long haul, the president doesn't want to leave the next president or the president after that to be worrying about this program.

00:04:21.400 And so we would like to get that material out of the country completely so that the United States has control of it.

00:04:27.420 That's number one. 0.89

00:04:28.620 And the second thing is that, again, to this point about verification, it's one thing for the Iranians to say that they're not going to have a nuclear weapon.

00:04:36.040 It's another thing for us to put in place the mechanism to ensure that's not going to happen.

00:04:40.680 Part of that is, of course, to ensure that they don't have the ability to enrich uranium, which is how they got so close to a nuclear weapon before. 0.98

00:04:48.060 So those are really the two things where, frankly, the Iranians, I think, did make some progress. 0.94

00:04:53.900 They moved in our direction, which is why I think we would say that we had some good signs, but they didn't move far enough. 0.99

00:05:01.200 And so what we decided is, you know what, given that we don't think this current team and this current timeline is going to be able to make a deal, let them go back to Tehran.

00:05:09.860 We're going to go back to Washington. And that's where we are today.

00:05:12.620 And so we sit in this holding pattern. Well, the Iran mullahs and the terrorists over there decide what they want to do, if they want to be obliviated or if they want to assimilate into a normal society. It's going to be on them.
