00:00:00.000 Hello everybody, I'm John Fossett with this Great America Show midday update for Friday, January 2nd.
00:00:05.200 Happy Friday, folks, and more importantly, Happy New Year.
00:00:08.400 I hope your New Year's are off to a great start and you got your resolutions in
00:00:11.120 and you're ready to tackle 2026 like we did in 2025.
00:00:15.820 Let's get to some news.
00:00:17.500 President Trump announcing in a message on his Truth Social
00:00:20.640 that the U.S. is ready to intervene to rescue any anti-regime protesters in Iran
00:00:25.900 should the government attempt to brutalize them.
00:00:28.900 President Trump was responding to the eruption nationwide protests
00:00:31.780 against the terrorist regime in the country that began last week.
00:00:35.100 The protests came after the real drop to $1.42 million per U.S. dollar
00:00:39.280 and the Iranian regime ousted central bank chief,
00:00:42.640 a sign that the supreme leader, the Ayatollah Khamenei, was dissatisfied with his performance.
00:00:47.400 All reports this week suggest that the Iranian regime has yet to shut down the Internet,
00:00:52.620 as it usually does during protests,
00:00:54.800 is reportedly in part by shutting down businesses and government offices
00:00:58.020 and affected provinces, including the capital of Tehran.
00:01:01.740 President Trump writing on Truth Social,
00:01:03.580 Not sure how that's going to play out with the American voters going into Iran,
00:01:19.860 but I guess we're going to have to wait and see.
00:01:22.640 It didn't bode on the favorable side when President Trump launched strikes in Iran on behalf of Israel,
00:01:28.840 but we'll just have to wait and see what the polling shows.
00:01:32.260 President Trump took about 11 months,
00:01:34.560 but President Trump has finally issued his first vetoes of his second term.
00:01:38.820 And like most things involving President Trump,
00:01:40.820 the moves aren't without their critiques,
00:01:43.520 including some you might not normally expect pushback from.
00:01:46.400 The Miccosukee Reserve Area Amendments Act is a bill aimed at expanding the land set aside
00:01:51.780 for the Miccosukee tribe inside the Everglade National Park
00:01:55.140 by officially including a section known as the Oskaloa Camp.
00:01:59.200 Trump has had a couple issues with this.
00:02:01.020 The residential community in that area was constructed in 1935 without authorization in a low area.
00:02:06.460 It was raised with filled material.
00:02:08.680 President Trump explained on Truth Social,
00:02:10.880 None of the current structures in that Oskaloa Camp area are over 50 years old,
00:02:15.420 nor do they meet the other criteria to be considered for listing as the National Register of Historic Places.
00:02:20.920 Now, President Trump getting some pushback from some on the right,
00:02:24.700 which we'll tell you about.
00:02:25.940 The second veto bill was the Finish the Arkansas Valley Conduit Act.
00:02:30.200 While it's a bill designed to make it easier for rural Colorado communities
00:02:33.440 to complete a long-planned water pipeline project
00:02:36.300 that will facilitate drinking water to people in the Arkansas River Valley,
00:02:39.780 President Trump's issue with that was the price tag and the repayment plans for this project.
00:02:46.400 It was originally authorized in a bill signed by President Kennedy in 1962,
00:02:50.120 President Trump said.
00:02:51.360 For decades, it was unbuilt largely because the ABC was economically unbuyable.
00:02:57.460 More than $250 million already spent towards that project.
00:03:01.300 As we said, some people not too happy.
00:03:03.960 The bill was backed and pushed by Colorado Rep.
00:03:06.460 Lauren Boebert, normally a staunch Trump supporter,
00:03:09.020 who seemed incensed by President Trump's veto and vowed that this fight isn't over.
00:03:14.780 We'll have to wait and watch what happens with Lauren Boebert.
00:03:17.260 Is she going to be the next Marjorie Taylor Greene?
00:03:20.800 Guess we're just going to have to wait and see.
00:03:22.920 Independent journalist Nick Shirley took over the news cycle and shamed legacy media
00:03:26.660 with his explosive 42-minute video last week,
00:03:29.600 which uncovered more than $110 million in alleged taxpayer-funded fraud
00:03:33.780 at the Somalian-run daycare centers in Minnesota.
00:03:36.460 He's already garnered over 132 million views on his work.
00:03:41.620 Now, exposing the truth has put Shirley in danger for sure.
00:03:44.900 He revealed that he's receiving many death threats and warnings that he'll be, quote,
00:03:48.260 curked.
00:03:49.360 Sinister reference being assassinated following his documentation of empty daycares,
00:03:53.660 raking millions of dollars from the government, I might add,
00:03:56.940 showing no signs of actual child care.
00:04:01.160 Shirley responded that the legacy media will go insane over what is coming next.
00:04:05.640 He says, just wait until I post part two.
00:04:08.400 They are going to go insane.
00:04:10.540 Now, it seems the legacy media is still busy trying to dig up any kind of dirt they can on Shirley
00:04:14.940 rather than covering the actual story.
00:04:17.640 Congressman Eric Swalwell, famously known for sleeping with a Chinese spy,
00:04:23.660 who's running also for governor of California as his main domicile is in Maryland.
00:04:27.900 That's a whole different story, part of his mortgage fraud scam,
00:04:30.900 announcing this week that he plans to go on the offense against federal agents in California,
00:04:35.600 charging them of crimes and preventing them from driving in the state.
00:04:39.980 He says if he's elected governor in November, quote,
00:04:41.940 what I'm going to do is make sure that they take off their masks and show their faces,
00:04:46.020 that they actually show their identification,
00:04:47.580 and if they commit crimes, they're going to be charged with crimes.
00:04:51.580 I also think that if the governor has the ability to issue driver's licenses to people in California,
00:04:56.660 if you're going to wear a mask and not identify yourself,
00:04:59.260 you're not going to be eligible to drive a vehicle in California.
00:05:02.540 Yet they still allow illegal aliens to obtain driver's license,
00:05:05.220 and anyone who wants to wear those ridiculous COVID masks can go ahead and still do so.
00:05:09.180 So, folks, if you're joining us from California,
00:05:12.060 and we do have a big, big portion of you guys in California,
00:05:15.720 you guys got to get the word out or risk losing your state any further than what you have with Gavin Newsom.
