00:00:00.000 Hello everybody, I'm John Fossett with this Great America Show midday update for Thursday, January 9th.
00:00:05.400 Those California wildfires that are rip-roaring through LA and the greater county area,
00:00:10.460 showing no signs of relenting.
00:00:12.580 Here's what we know so far about those wildfires.
00:00:15.800 They're out of control in the greater Los Angeles area,
00:00:18.680 and they've killed at least five people and forced nearly 180,000 people from their homes.
00:00:23.400 Folks, it's not just one fire burning.
00:00:25.520 At least five fires are burning covering more than 45 square miles.
00:00:30.000 Sparked by dry conditions and powerful winds, causing unprecedented scenes in areas not known for fires.
00:00:36.740 What the Marxist mainstream media is leaving out is that there's something called wildfire management and forest management
00:00:43.240 and wildfire prevention management,
00:00:45.760 where the governor and the mayors and the local municipalities are supposed to take care of their areas
00:00:52.460 to ensure that things like this don't happen.
00:00:54.880 This is something President Trump has been speaking about in his first term,
00:00:58.440 and then as recent as just a few months ago when he was in California,
00:01:02.040 blaming Governor Gavin Newsom for failing to get his act together.
00:01:06.740 I mean, the fire hydrants are literally dry.
00:01:09.680 They have many issues in the counties with fire staffing, budgets.
00:01:15.180 The list goes on about things that are wrong in California and specifically in LA.
00:01:20.580 The Palisades Fire, the one that started, has burned through more than 17,000 acres,
00:01:25.480 almost 27 square miles.
00:01:27.220 It's destroyed 1,000 structures, and it's entirely uncontained,
00:01:31.820 making it the most destructive in LA history.
00:01:34.600 The latest blaze, the Sunset Fire, started yesterday shortly before 6 p.m. in the Hollywood Hills.
00:01:40.340 Folks, this latest fire has grown to 60 acres and it's threatening iconic landmarks.
00:01:44.760 More than 350,000 energy customers were out power early today,
00:01:49.220 including 200,000 in LA County, the most populous county in the country.
00:01:55.040 The intense Santa Ana winds have eased compared to the past two days,
00:01:58.400 but wind gusts are still forecast to be 40 to 50 miles per hour today
00:02:01.680 and 50 to 70 tonight into tomorrow morning.
00:02:05.160 Folks, that's bad news because the wind is what is fueling these fires
00:02:08.420 and pushing it further off into areas that are, like I said,
00:02:12.440 not generally known to be in conditions that they're in right now
00:02:17.160 with these wildfires happening.
00:02:18.580 So we pray for all those folks out there.
00:02:20.760 Folks, not to make this political, but elections have consequences.
00:02:24.600 We need to start electing people in these Marxist blue areas.
00:02:28.560 And we did a good job here in 2024,
00:02:30.920 but we need to continue to go on into the new year and to the next year in 2026
00:02:35.000 and get these people out of office.
00:02:37.100 Their priorities are all over the place, you know,
00:02:41.520 and they're not good for our counties, for our societies.
00:02:44.780 You look and see this, folks are turning on the fire hydrants
00:02:47.880 and there's no water coming out of them in some of these places in LA
00:02:52.500 and surrounding areas.
00:02:54.440 Folks, that's unacceptable, especially for LA and California
00:02:58.740 who are prone to things like this happening.
00:03:02.160 The reason and part of the reason I believe this is happening
00:03:05.040 is because the LA Fire Department has used their precious time and funds
00:03:08.920 to attend LGBTQ pride events
00:03:11.760 and to hold Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, also known as DEI, training seminars
00:03:15.480 under the leadership of its first female chief,
00:03:18.980 promoting backlash as the department struggles to fight these devastating wildfires.
00:03:22.800 As I said, the fire hydrants in the Pacific Palisades areas ran dry
00:03:26.820 as firefighters attempted to put out the raging flames,
00:03:29.980 while the LA Times is reporting that scores of them had little to no water flowing for them
00:03:34.880 on Wednesday morning, throughout Wednesday afternoon, and now into Thursday morning.
00:03:39.600 Folks, this is no joke.
00:03:41.400 These folks in California really needed to get it together.
00:03:44.780 When you have DEI overtaking your departments, your fire departments,
00:03:51.340 when people's lives are in danger, people died, houses gone, pets killed,
00:03:56.620 I mean, burned alive, it's truly sickening.
00:04:00.920 As these fires continue to burn, folks, we still don't know how the fire started.
00:04:04.980 There's some people reporting that it was arsonists lighting a garden on fire somewhere
00:04:09.000 that's unconfirmed.
00:04:10.640 We still don't know how it started.
00:04:12.160 Reports are also surfacing now that a Los Angeles County official
00:04:16.140 who's responsible for the simple task of overseeing fire hydrant maintenance
00:04:19.720 is raking in an astonishing, are you ready for this, folks?
00:04:24.080 $750,000, the highest paid position in LA, for a government official, I should say.
00:04:31.480 In April of 2024, Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass nominated Ms. Janice Quinoez
00:04:37.380 as the new head of the Department of Water and Power, also known as the DWP,
00:04:40.960 with an approved annual salary of, as I said, $750,000 a year.
00:04:46.280 Now, this is nearly double the salary of her predecessor, Marty Adams,
00:04:49.440 who only made $450,000 annually.
00:04:52.160 And I don't mean only made, but significantly lower than this $750,000
00:04:57.500 that this female is raking in.
00:05:00.960 Folks, when are we going to wake up?
00:05:02.540 When are we going to wake up that enough is enough with these Marxist Dems?
00:05:05.600 Because the people in LA had the opportunity to get Karen Bass out of there last year 0.95
00:05:10.420 to start over with the Republican and Independent, anybody but these Marxist Dems, 0.75
00:05:15.560 and they failed to do so.
00:05:16.960 So, as we so often hear, and, you know, like I said, this is not a time to play politics,
00:05:21.920 but elections have consequences, and I think a lot of these situations and scenarios
00:05:26.900 are preventable with the right people in power.
00:05:29.840 There is no reason that your fire hydrants should be running dry
00:05:33.580 in the most populated area in the country, folks.
00:05:38.100 This is no joke.
00:05:39.580 Now, on to some politics.
00:05:40.780 President-elect Donald Trump's current favorability rating
00:05:43.880 is higher than, get ready for this, folks,
00:05:46.860 Walt Disney Grooming Company.
00:05:48.920 Now, it's obviously not Walt Disney Grooming Company,
00:05:51.060 but that's what we like to call them here on The Great America Show.
00:05:53.220 An exclusive Rasmussen Reports poll for Breitbart News shows that
00:05:57.060 Disney Grooming Syndicate favorability is only 49%,
00:06:00.900 with 43% who view the company unfavorably.
00:06:05.160 Okay, Disney is plus six above water favorability,
00:06:08.080 but the incoming President Trump is plus 11 in the Real Clear Politics average poll
00:06:13.420 of Trump's favorability polls.
00:06:15.960 Huh.
00:06:16.400 Current Insider Advantage gives Trump a 50% favorability rating,
00:06:19.740 while Harvard-Harris gives Trump a 54% favorability rating.
00:06:24.140 Trump's unfavorability rating is also lower than Disney's 43%.
00:06:27.780 Insider Advantage shows Trump at 42% unfavorable,
00:06:30.900 while Harvard-Harris shows Trump with just a 40% unfavorable opinion.
00:06:35.340 Folks, the tides are starting to turn,
00:06:37.020 and President Trump's going to head into office
00:06:38.680 in just about 11 days,
00:06:41.300 with the highest approval rating of a Republican
00:06:44.100 in the history of this country.
00:06:45.560 So, you know, the Marxist Dems wanted to tell you
00:06:47.940 that Trump's hated and nobody likes this man.
00:06:50.160 Well, there was a mandate on November 5th
00:06:52.300 with over 50% of the country voting for him,
00:06:55.400 and we now see his favorability rating
00:06:57.500 taking a significant, significant hike
00:07:00.540 from any point in his first presidency
00:07:03.200 and in between now,
00:07:05.980 from 2020 to now.
00:07:07.800 So, President Trump doing a hell of a job.
00:07:10.380 Folks, please be sure to join us
00:07:11.560 for today's episode of The Great America Show.
00:07:13.280 We're joined by Mr. New York radio host,
00:07:15.340 nationally syndicated radio host, I should say,
00:07:17.960 the great Mark Simone.
00:07:20.260 You know, we break down the Marxist Dems
00:07:22.640 and what exactly they're doing to this country
00:07:24.720 and how we can save them,
00:07:26.780 how we can save them right here where we are in New York,
00:07:28.900 and how the folks out in L.A.
00:07:30.660 can save them from further destruction over there.
00:07:34.280 So, folks, please be sure to join us for that.
00:07:35.720 Today, only on The Great America Show,
00:07:37.800 I'm John Fossett with this midday update.
00:07:40.060 I hope you folks are all having a great day,
00:07:41.900 and I hope your new year is off
00:07:43.760 to a great and prosperous start, folks.
00:07:46.000 God bless.
