00:00:00.000 Hello, everybody. I'm John Fawcett with this Great America Show midday update for Tuesday, July 28th.
00:00:05.640 Happy Tuesday, folks.
00:00:07.660 Well, Senator John Thune seems to be getting a little bit of an attitude lately,
00:00:12.680 as he has been for the last few months, because President Trump simply asked him for one thing and one thing only,
00:00:19.480 get the Save America Act passed and get it passed now,
00:00:22.940 because the midterms are right around the corner and we want to ensure that our elections are safeguarded from fraud.
00:00:28.820 But I don't think it's too much to ask for.
00:00:31.800 Well, John Thune's now doing damage control and growing calls for him to resign over his inability to simply do his job.
00:00:39.540 Thune has reiterated multiple times that Trump should be the one whipping the votes.
00:00:43.940 That's his main job, actually, as senator.
00:00:46.960 He actually has been saying it out loud.
00:00:49.560 Take a listen to John Thune on network television telling President Trump to do Thune's job.
00:00:55.600 He's got a lot on his wish list.
00:00:58.280 He does. I mean, the main thing he wants, Sean, as you know, is the Save America Act, and that is something where, like I said, we've had multiple votes on it now. Not a single Democrat has voted for it. I think we continue to put them on the record, but we've had five different votes on it already.
00:01:13.280 if we can get a chance to vote on it again, the best way to do that would be in a budget
00:01:16.920 reconciliation bill. And that would enable us not only to do, to get a vote on that in some form,
00:01:21.460 it's not going to be everything the president wants, but also do something with the military
00:01:25.540 where we desperately need to ensure that our military has everything they need to deter and
00:01:30.600 defend our country and particularly with what's going on in the Middle East right now. And there's
00:01:35.660 some stuff in there for agriculture. It's a bill the House passed and it's no easy feat in the
00:01:40.120 Senate. We don't have 50 votes for it today, but hopefully we can get there. No, there's no
00:01:43.720 hopefully or probably or maybe. It's your job to get it done. We don't know what's taking you so
00:01:52.200 long. Now, Hannity also asked Thune about the filibuster, because that's another thing that
00:01:57.040 Democrats have said. Once they take back control of the Senate, they're getting rid of it. But
00:02:02.460 apparently there's 15 or so members who are against it. Thune doesn't, of course, want to
00:02:09.180 spill the beans getting rid of the filibuster non-starter you don't have the votes well we
00:02:14.480 don't and i and i've actually told i've had this conversation with the president many times i think
00:02:17.740 as you know um and i actually suggested at one point that they his team come up and sit down
00:02:23.060 and visit with some of my colleagues so they came down came up met with about 20 republican senators
00:02:27.960 and 15 were no on on getting rid of the filibuster the votes aren't there to do it i know he thinks
00:02:33.540 he can persuade people but there are a lot of folks who are very this is a this is a hard
00:02:39.140 position for a lot of senate republicans if it's so hard that they should come out and tell us
00:02:43.680 what's so hard about it if you can't do your job you should let the american people know we all pay
00:02:49.460 your salaries you should tell us why you can't get there and put it on the record i think it's
00:02:55.640 probably the best option turning now to the war in iran president trump reiterating this morning
00:03:01.120 that the United States is once again engaged in very deep talks with Iran, but warned Washington
00:03:07.560 is prepared to resume, quote, very strong military action if diplomacy fails, saying he's agreed to
00:03:14.320 pause plans to expand the U.S. military campaign to give negotiations yet another opportunity.
00:03:21.340 I think this is probably just more of the same old, as we've continued to see, from Iran. Now,
00:03:29.900 new polling out from cnn shows that republicans and donald trump are trusted by more than two
00:03:35.340 points on iran so again and again over the course of the war republicans have been the ones who
00:03:41.840 have been gaining ground which cnn seems to be extremely uh suspect or uh concerned or surprised
00:03:50.620 to uh let's take a listen in on their uh their head guy harry enton looking at all the news
00:03:55.880 coverage you'll be looking at all the polling of president trump and you would think that
00:03:58.960 Democrats would be able to take advantage and be dominating Republicans when it comes to who is
00:04:03.340 trusted to handle the Iran war. That, simply put, is not the case at all. I mean, these numbers are
00:04:08.460 quite surprising. Trust Dems or Republicans on Iran. According to CNBC, earlier this month,
00:04:12.620 you'd think, OK, that's one poll, the Republicans trusted by two points. But then CBS News comes
00:04:16.800 out yesterday, and what do you see? You see the exact same thing. Trump and the Republicans take
00:04:22.140 the cake. They are trusted by two points on Iran. Now, one poll is one thing, but you put the two
00:04:26.540 them together and you can see that the american people simply put are not buying what democrats
00:04:31.660 are selling on iran they still trust republicans more even if you look at president trump's approval
00:04:36.780 ratings on the subject and they're negative too but yet republicans and trump still more trusted
00:04:41.820 than democrats are in iran has there been any change no and this is even more surprising right
00:04:46.620 you might think okay as the war has gone on and on and on you might think hey the democrats would
00:04:52.860 would be gaining ground in terms of trust that the American people would give them on Iran.
00:04:56.580 If anything, it's the opposite. It's the opposite.
00:04:59.480 There you have it. That's the Marxist Dems and the panic-ins who continue to panic.
