00:00:00.000 Hello everybody, I'm John Fawcett with this Great America Show midday update for Thursday,
00:00:04.380 October 10th. Inflation rose more than expected last month, dimming hopes for yet another big
00:00:09.740 rate cut from the Fed. The consumer price index rose 2.4% versus a year ago in September above
00:00:15.760 the 2.3% increase economists had expected, this according to the Labor Department on Thursday.
00:00:22.100 Month over month, consumer price index rose 0.2%, steeper than the 0.1% increase economists had
00:00:27.960 expected, but even with the 0.2% number from August. Core inflation is a metric closely watched
00:00:33.940 by economists that excludes the volatile cost of food and energy, rose 3.3% versus a year ago.
00:00:40.340 This number also ahead of economists' predictions at a 3.2% year-over-year increase.
00:00:46.060 Inflation is a major concern for voters as they prepare to cast their ballots on November 5th.
00:00:51.040 Donald Trump has pressed his case to the public saying that he would bring prices down that
00:00:54.940 skyrocketed under President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris. Initial filings for
00:01:00.380 unemployment benefits took an unexpected higher turn, hitting a seasonally adjusted $258,000 for
00:01:06.520 the week ending October 5th, the highest total since August 5th of 2023. With Halloween approaching,
00:01:13.140 America's favorite witch, Hillary Clinton's latest book, Drastically Underperforming,
00:01:17.360 sails down more than 80% since her last book. Hillary's latest book is another memoir about how unfair 0.99
00:01:23.400 it was that she lost to Donald Trump and why you still owe her an apology for being right about
00:01:28.080 everything. Hmm, that's interesting. Released last month, the book is titled Something Lost,
00:01:33.040 Something Gained, Lessons on Life, Love and Liberty. It's a tedious long through her familiar grievances
00:01:38.760 and blatant lies about her, quote, thicker skin and stiffer spine. In this memoir, Hillary lauds 1.00
00:01:45.240 herself as the first woman to win a presidential primary, the nomination of a major party, and the
00:01:50.780 national popular vote. She remembers the good times when she flew on Air Force One, dined with
00:01:55.300 kings and queens, and was constantly surrounded by armed guards. She refuses to go away or accept 0.85
00:02:00.700 the fact that absolutely nobody cares. You're probably not going to be surprised when I tell
00:02:05.160 you that sales of her second book about losing in 2016 are much lower this time around. Something
00:02:11.000 Lost, Something Gained sold just 27,000 copies in the first week, according to industry sources.
00:02:16.600 The sales on that book, you might not be surprised to learn, are 20% less than her last book that was
00:02:22.160 out in 2016 about the same exact thing. Hillary just can't seem to get over herself, and we pray that 0.99
00:02:28.360 she gets the help she needs. And bad news for the Democrats out in Montana. Republican Tim Sheehy
00:02:34.400 walloping Democrat Senator John Tester, according to two new polls. John Tester is sinking fast against
00:02:40.520 his Republican challenger Sheehy in deep red Montana. Sheehy's summer surge has continued through the
00:02:46.300 fall, with challenger now leading safely ahead of the margin of error. The first poll out from the
00:02:51.200 New York Times-Siena, which 538 tells us is the most accurate polling you will see. Tim Sheehy is
00:02:56.820 leading Tester 52-44, an 8% lead, as I said, well ahead of the margin of error. And out in another poll from
00:03:03.800 the Montana GOP, she is leading 51-45, a 6-point lead, also outside the margin of error. Be sure to
00:03:11.600 join us for today's episode of The Great America Show. We're joined by leading pollster, chief pollster
00:03:16.480 of the Trafalgar Group, Robert Cahaley. We break down all the latest polling for President Trump
00:03:21.100 against Kamala Harris, and some of the key Senate races we see around this country. Join us for that
00:03:25.840 and much more today on The Great America Show. I'm John Fawcett with this midday update. Have a great day, folks.
