00:00:00.000 Hello everybody, I'm John Fawcett with this Great America Show Midday Update for Monday, August 17th.
00:00:05.040 Happy Monday, folks.
00:00:06.520 Well, a former disgraced congressman who left, and I mean disgrace,
00:00:11.680 Eric Swalwell, as some like to call him, Fang Fang Swalwell,
00:00:15.740 well, his problems may not be going away and they may be accelerating.
00:00:21.740 Newly declassified documents out this afternoon reveal salacious details
00:00:25.720 about Eric Swalwell's relationship with that Chinese spy in Honeypot
00:00:29.960 Fang Fang. It was previously reported that the intel community had a classified report
00:00:35.020 detailing Eric Swalwell's intimate relationship with Fang Fang. According to Axios, Fang Fang was
00:00:40.960 a bundler for Eric Swalwell and other Democratic candidates, but it was also reported that the
00:00:46.620 Chinese spy had an intimate relationship with Swalwell. A source on Capitol Hill previously
00:00:50.720 confirmed that the Swalwell did indeed have sexual relationships with Fang Fang, but the troubles get
00:00:56.680 a little bit more interesting today. Despite the Chinese spy scandal, Swalwell remained on the
00:01:02.580 House Intel Committee, thanks to Pelosi, and had access to some of the nation's most highly
00:01:07.520 classified information. It was revealed this afternoon that the Chinese spy Fang Fang reportedly
00:01:12.020 went over Swalwell's apartment multiple times, although of course he didn't remember it. But
00:01:17.220 they're also releasing today that the FBI wanted to initially investigate Swalwell for a bribery
00:01:23.700 scheme in which he exchanged donations from Fang for her planting interns in his office,
00:01:29.260 but eventually decided to narrow the case to seek criminal charges only against Fang for making
00:01:34.100 illegal donations to the California Democrat through different conduits, which is, of course,
00:01:40.060 highly illegal. Make that make sense, folks. Eric Swalwell and the Democrats getting away
00:01:47.240 with yet another issue and the esteemed Supreme Court once again not doing their job the Supreme
00:01:54.400 Court has rejected President Trump's petition asking for them to reconsider their early refusal
00:01:59.380 to review a five million dollar civil verdict in the case of writer E. Jean Carroll and her wild
00:02:05.500 wild wild allegation the unsigned order issued in part by a broader list of actions from the court
00:02:11.820 on Monday's docket ends President Trump's efforts to overturn the 2023 jury finding that he was
00:02:18.460 liable for sexually abusing Carol in the mid-1990s and later defaming her. No dissidents were noted
00:02:25.020 and the court provided no explanation. It's the second court that the Supreme Court snubbed
00:02:29.180 President Trump on this case. In late June, justices decided that they weren't going to
00:02:33.980 take up his appeal of the verdict after the second U.S. Court of Appeals had upheld it.
00:02:39.240 Trump's legal team had filed petitions for rehearing, arguing, among other points,
00:02:42.460 that issues of presidential immunity, raised in a way larger case, could bear on this one as well.
00:02:49.620 That request has now been denied, finalizing the judgment.
00:02:53.160 Remember E. Jean Carroll, the lady who said President Trump was in a dressing room with her,
00:02:57.800 and Bergdorf Goodman, couldn't remember the day, couldn't remember what happened,
00:03:01.520 but they get a New York court and New York corrupt, corrupt judge to just go ahead and agree with her.
00:03:10.400 That's how it works, folks.
00:03:12.180 A.G. Todd Blanche was making his media rounds this Sunday.
00:03:16.500 And boy, was he not caving to the woke Marxist mainstream media, asked many different questions.
00:03:23.200 Because perhaps one of the most hilarious questions was when Kristen Welker, from the Marxist rogue network that we're not going to give credit to, Kristen Welker asked him if he will ever consider President Trump's opinion on anything.
00:03:40.400 Take a listen to Blanche absolutely taking her to task.
00:03:43.360 Here he is.
00:03:44.180 Fair.
00:03:44.460 Should the president have a voice in individual prosecution decisions at all?
00:03:48.480 Every American has a voice in prosecutions.
00:03:50.620 I mean, we hear from Americans all the time.
00:03:53.040 As a matter of fact, many of our investigations start with an American citizen coming forward and saying they saw something.
00:03:59.520 And so whether President Trump should have a, quote, voice, it depends.
00:04:02.980 Would you take his opinions into consideration when he says, I think this case should be revived?
00:04:07.640 Will you take that into consideration?
00:04:09.740 So hold on.
00:04:11.360 Will I take the president of the United States' view on something into consideration?
00:04:17.520 Yes, of course.
00:04:18.940 And I hope every attorney general in history would not answer that question differently.
00:04:24.120 Just let's play that out.
00:04:26.260 The president of the United States, the elected president of the United States, says something to me.
00:04:31.240 And I'm supposed to say to you, I would say, nope.
00:04:34.700 I mean, that's not the way it works.
00:04:36.000 Now, the president is extraordinarily, every day he wakes up with one mission, which is making this country better.
00:04:44.880 And as it relates to me, making this country safer.
00:04:47.960 So if he has a view on that, he talks about it on social media.
00:04:51.180 He talks about it when he speaks to the American people.
00:04:53.460 That's certainly something that I listen to.
00:04:55.320 I'm asking in part because we did see this clash play out in his first term.
00:04:59.600 Bill Barr, the attorney general during President Trump's first term, did push back against
00:05:04.800 President Trump in 2020.
00:05:06.160 As you recall, he told him his election claims were detached from reality.
00:05:10.740 If you were faced with a similar situation, something that you did not think actually
00:05:15.640 met the standard, the legal standard in your mind. Would you stand up to the president?
00:05:21.980 I mean, so I will always stand up for what's right. And I do not, the president does not
00:05:27.440 expect any of his leaders, including me, to just say yes to him no matter what he says. And so,
00:05:32.340 of course, there's vigorous back and forth with every cabinet member in the president of the
00:05:37.600 United States, which is exactly what President Trump expects. And there again, there is this
00:05:41.260 extraordinarily false narrative that the president wakes up in the morning and calls me and says,
00:05:45.340 Todd go prosecute X or Y
00:05:47.460 he does not do that
00:05:48.700 he has never done that
00:05:49.780 he will never do that
00:05:50.840 and so if there's something
00:05:52.160 that he wants to do
00:05:53.260 but he needs to know
00:05:54.380 that there's a challenge
00:05:55.240 or that we can't do it
00:05:56.220 of course I will tell him
00:05:57.420 it happens all the time
00:05:59.020 with all of his leaders
00:05:59.960 and that's what he expects
00:06:01.020 embarrassing as heck
00:06:02.180 if you ask me folks
00:06:03.260 Todd Blanche
00:06:04.380 I think he's going to do
