00:01:14.920 Hello, everybody. I'm Lou Dobbs. Thanks for being with us. Welcome to the Great America

00:01:22.220 Show. A new mystery disease in China. Plaguing children across China, a mystery child pneumonia

00:01:29.280 outbreak is how it's been described. It's swept through the schools in China, overwhelming 0.55

00:01:34.380 hospitals with sick children. A number of schools in China have reported an increase in the number

00:01:40.400 of children presenting with severe symptoms. Those symptoms include high fever and lung

00:01:45.780 inflammation. This, I might mention, is just about the same time that the China virus broke

00:01:51.580 out just three years ago, just in time for election season. I think we should always be suspicious of the

00:01:58.900 Biden regime's seemingly endless public health alerts, especially on new viruses. There always seems to be

00:02:06.620 an immediate round of fear-mongering from the administration, and none of their alarms, thank

00:02:12.560 goodness, this year have stuck. A Marxist-Dem New York Times editorial has finally acknowledged after

00:02:18.980 three years that the Marxist-Dem school closures and the China virus pandemic hurt students and hurt

00:02:25.100 them badly. After a study, the editorial board concluded that COVID school closures set student

00:02:31.220 progress in math and reading in particular back by as much as two decades. The Times editorial board

00:02:38.340 said the classroom closures from the China virus, quote, may prove to be the most damaging disruption in

00:02:45.080 the history of American education, end quote. Not a word from the Times on how the two major teachers

00:02:52.840 unions who were behind the closures should be held to account. I think they should be decertified on

00:02:59.120 that basis alone. A new poll out from Harvard-Harris shows 60 percent of Americans believe Joe Biden

00:03:05.900 participated in his son's business dealings. Republicans were more likely than Democrats to

00:03:11.680 think so, but still almost 40 percent of Dems believe the president is compromised. This is only the latest

00:03:18.580 poll to show Biden in deep political trouble with no signs of recovery. And what about President Trump?

00:03:25.560 Well, President Trump has widened his lead nationally over President Biden to four points in the latest

00:03:31.900 Emerson poll. The poll shows Trump holding on to his 47 percent support while Biden's support fell from 45 to

00:03:39.580 43 percent. About 10 percent of voters say they're undecided. The poll also found Biden lost support among voters

00:03:47.340 among voters of color. Among black voters, Biden down 15 points among Hispanics, down 11 points. The president

00:03:56.120 also lost 13 points from voters under the age of 50. He's down 16 points among four-year college graduates,

00:04:05.180 and there is absolutely zero good news in the polling for President Biden. Our guest today is looking strong in

00:04:13.320 his three-way primary race in the great state of Ohio, running for the U.S. Senate. And he's running to unseat

00:04:19.900 one of the Senate's longest-serving Marxist Dems, Sherrod Brown. Our guest is Bernie Moreno. He is a

00:04:26.940 successful businessman, an America First candidate, running for the Senate. And Bernie, first of all,

00:04:32.800 welcome to The Great America Show. Thank you for being with us. How do you feel about the state of

00:04:37.600 your campaign right now? Tell us how it's going. Oh, thank you, Lou. Thank you for having me. It's

00:04:42.780 going really well. So here are the metrics that matter right now. We're 90 days before voting,

00:04:48.200 starting four months. This primary is over. The metric that really matters right now is fundraising

00:04:52.900 because you need to have the money to get your message out. Ohio is a big state, seven media markets,

00:04:58.980 very expensive to advertise here. So we've been the number one fundraiser in the country on the GOP side

00:05:05.060 two quarters in a row. That's not an incumbent. So we've raised $3.5 million from individual

00:05:11.840 contributors. My next nearest opponent raised half of that. And the other is a distant third

00:05:18.040 with five times less than I've raised. So fundraising going really well. I've put in my own resources

00:05:23.580 to make certain that we're competitive with Sherrod Brown. And then the other piece is grassroots.

00:05:28.740 We have about 500 endorsements. There's 88 counties in Ohio. We have captains in all 88 counties.

00:05:35.040 We have contributors in all 88 counties. So we've got a great grassroots network built up.

00:05:40.640 My opponents don't even have 400 between the two of them. And they've been in elected office

00:05:45.200 combined of 30 years. So we're doing really well. For certain, there's no doubt that people are sick

00:05:52.740 of career politicians. We were never intended to have a political class in this country.

00:05:57.000 They want outsiders. They want people with business experience. And that's why I think my campaign

00:06:01.280 is resonating so much. Well, I think you're right. There is a certain malaise associated with

00:06:08.540 quote unquote professional politicians. And when you look at Capitol Hill right now,

00:06:14.740 you see a lot of professional. They're almost institutionalized. A guy like Mitch McConnell,

00:06:22.440 a guy like Kevin McCarthy, the former speaker.

00:06:25.120 I mean, these people are examples of just sheer inertia. They're not doing anything new. They're

00:06:32.900 not thinking anything new. And I'm picking on two Republicans. Then if I move to the Democrats and

00:06:39.800 Chuck Schumer, we're talking about a group of Marxists that have now taken over the Democrat Party.

00:06:46.640 And, you know, no one fits the bill better than Sherrod Brown. I've known him for a long time

00:06:54.480 as over the course of my, you know, professionally. I just do not understand, frankly, why he has

00:07:04.340 gotten away with the ultra liberal left wing Marxist values that he espouses and acts upon.

00:07:13.780 Yeah, he doesn't represent Ohio at all. When I go to D.C., I'm sure like you,

00:07:19.340 they talk about Sherrod Brown. They say, well, wait a second. How is he from Ohio?

00:07:23.520 Like if he was from Massachusetts, Vermont, California, New York, it would make a little

00:07:27.520 bit more sense, although he's more liberal than those senators. But he's married to the media,

00:07:32.660 not figuratively, literally. His wife works for Gannett, the largest newspaper owner in Ohio.

00:07:37.820 So she's on the phone and makes certain that stories are written about him in a very positive light.

00:07:42.700 They keep him away from any negative articles. He comes across kind of like a nice guy. Talk about

00:07:48.380 baseball. He'll lie to business people right in their face. Well, of course, I would never vote

00:07:54.080 against those types of things. And of course, he does. This is his time's up. He's tired. He's been

00:08:01.660 in public office for almost 50 years, 30 of those years in Washington, D.C. You'll appreciate this.

00:08:08.480 In the 90s, when he first ran for Congress, he said, anybody who's been in D.C. for more than 0.82

00:08:13.800 10 years is a crook. He's been there 30 years. So it's time to retire him. We're going to make

00:08:20.460 that happen. We're not going to let him beat us on fundraising. We're not going to let him take

00:08:24.480 us off message. His policies, the things that he espouses hurt the very people that he pretends to help.

00:08:31.220 Well, I think you have just put out a pretty good list of issues to take on, the good senator.

00:08:42.580 He is, as I said, is a left winger. He has had remarkable staying power in a Midwestern state.

00:08:49.700 Lots of reasons for that. The economy has, over the course of his career, been

00:08:55.640 shifting and changing and a lot of pain felt by a lot of good Americans in your state, as you well

00:09:03.180 know. It's something of a model, I think, template, if you will, for the rest of the country, because

00:09:10.320 once fully industrial, it has shifted. It has changed. And the Republican Party is also having

00:09:21.180 trouble changing with it. What I'm hearing from you makes me, gives me hope that the Republican Party

00:09:27.820 has some new blood that is thinking, thinking right and thinking forward and thinking for themselves.

00:09:35.640 No, you're exactly right. The reality is the old Republicans dead. I think one of the things

00:09:40.200 that history will judge President Trump on is that he actually saved the Republican Party.

00:09:45.300 I think if it hadn't been for him, the Republican Party would be obsolete.

00:09:49.260 He's brought the middle class back to the American center. That's what the Republican Party is about.

00:09:55.280 We want to re-industrialize this country. We want good, high-paying jobs for Americans.

00:10:00.320 We want to be able to have a mom or a dad be able to have one job and provide for their family,

00:10:06.000 being able to live the American dream. That's what the Republican Party is about.

00:10:09.780 I think for too long, our party was about endless wars, about taxation, about helping businesses get

00:10:16.900 that last dollar of profit, all to the detriment of the middle class. Look, here in Ohio, Lou,

00:10:22.540 in 1949, six of the wealthiest 14 cities in America were in Ohio. Places like Dayton, Youngstown,

00:10:30.500 Cleveland, Toledo. We're not even barely in the top 50 now. That's what we're seeing here in Ohio.

00:10:36.840 And that's why the message of President Trump makes so much sense to so many people here in Ohio.

00:10:42.680 I think there's some people listening to us, and this audience is very bright, very tuned in,

00:10:48.640 and very knowledgeable when it comes to certainly politics in this country. I think that they have to

00:10:57.040 be somewhat surprised to be hearing a senatorial candidate talking America first, because there

00:11:04.540 are not many, as you know, out there who are owning America first as their political philosophy,

00:11:11.000 their motto. And I think that I think it is the best ever invented personally. And I salute you for it,

00:11:18.840 not only because you're aligned with President Trump, but because when you say America first,

00:11:24.280 to me, that is the ultimate and premature of intelligence and loyalty and patriotism.

00:11:30.460 If you're not putting, as the question always follows to me, at least,

00:11:34.100 if you're not America first, just what is first? I would love to know that from every candidate in

00:11:39.880 the country. We're talking with Bernie Moreno. We appreciate you being here. We're going to be

00:11:45.120 right back. Be patient with us. Just a momentary pause. We'll be right back.

00:11:56.040 We're back now with Bernie Moreno running for the United States Senate from the great state of Ohio.

00:12:02.040 Bernie, the America first and President Trump, and you mentioned this earlier when you talked about

00:12:09.940 what he did for the Republican Party. He is the man who has given animation and energy to the

00:12:17.600 Republican Party over the course of the past decade, one way or another. And it is, I think,

00:12:25.880 critically, and I will just say it this way, I think it's absolutely urgent and existential that

00:12:31.720 he be reelected if we're going to save this republic.

00:12:34.280 I want to get your thoughts on that issue. That he gets reelected. There's no question in

00:12:40.640 my mind that he will, Lou. I mean, it's objectively easy. We knew what life was like under the four

00:12:46.740 years of President Trump, including one year of COVID. We now know what life is under three years

00:12:51.360 of Joe Biden. I can't even imagine what the last year is going to be like. I don't want to imagine

00:12:56.720 the last year of Joe Biden. But when people go to the polls next November, they're going to vote just

00:13:01.400 on that. I think too many political pundits like to put a lot of other noise in the system,

00:13:05.880 but there could not be more of a contrast. Listen, if you go to the grocery store, you go to the gas

00:13:11.100 station, you turn on the news, you see what's going on in Israel, in Eastern Asia, in Eastern Europe,

00:13:16.560 in the Pacific Ocean, on our southern border, crime in our cities, our schools that are failing,

00:13:23.160 police officers that are getting abused, don't even want to do the job, our major American cities

00:13:29.740 failing. This is a track record of total and complete failure. I don't think that you could

00:13:34.800 actually plan a worse destructive presidency than what Joe Biden has done in America in the last

00:13:42.080 three years. I concur entirely. There's everything that is, every policy, every initiative that is taken

00:13:49.540 and undertaken is antithetical to the interest of the United States and to the idea even of America.

00:13:58.180 And I really cannot think of an exception to that anywhere on his agenda. There's no item that

00:14:05.340 screams out, this is about the American middle class, a working man and woman and his and her family,

00:14:12.040 their children, their education. You immigrated to this country with your family. You've made an

00:14:20.360 extraordinary success of your life and opportunity. And we're in a nation right now where the left has

00:14:26.960 seized the narrative. It's all about being dependent, being dependent on the federal government,

00:14:32.120 being dependent on whichever level of government has the greater aid, rather than saying we're going to

00:14:41.360 go seize the moment and make of ourselves what we can and putting it on ourselves, not anyone else.

00:14:47.660 We have seen this country taken over by the Marxist Dems. And again, there are very few

00:14:55.160 exceptions to that. Our public school systems used to be the greatest equalizer in our society.

00:15:01.900 We can talk about the war on poverty, any of that. Nothing is more important than our public

00:15:06.920 education system for the opportunities it's created for millions and millions of Americans over the years.

00:15:13.300 What are your thoughts about education, its importance and your policy views toward public

00:15:21.780 education? No, Lou, you're exactly right. This all started in my mind, you can trace it back to 1979

00:15:28.120 when Jimmy Carter created the Department of Education. Ronald Reagan, as you remember,

00:15:33.200 ran on getting rid of that department that had been only basically a year old. Didn't do it.

00:15:38.480 First Bush didn't do it. Second Bush didn't do it. President Trump had so much on the agenda that

00:15:44.140 just quite frankly, didn't get to it. When we take over in 2025, and we will, we will keep the

00:15:49.740 House. We'll win the Senate. President Trump will be our 47th president. We will get rid of that

00:15:54.160 Department of Education. What that allows us to do is collapse and eliminate this union,

00:15:59.460 Democrat Party, political money laundering operation that's been going on for decades.

00:16:04.440 Put local schools in the hands of parents of the kids that go to those community schools.

00:16:10.900 That's what should be happening. The reality is, Lou, we have to be teaching our kids math,

00:16:16.180 science, critical thinking, real history. Those are the things that we should be teaching instead

00:16:21.200 of this woke ideology, this victimhood, this idea that you're entitled to something,

00:16:26.420 that America's fundamentally flawed. This is the greatest country on earth. We have to put those

00:16:31.660 values back in our school systems. And when parents get control back of their public schools

00:16:36.660 and not union schools, that's what's going to happen.

00:16:39.120 I want to continue with Bernie Moreno's views on public education. When we come back right after

00:16:47.120 this quick message, stay with us. We'll be right back.

00:16:49.920 We're back now. We're talking with Bernie Moreno, and we're talking about his campaign to be the U.S.

00:17:02.440 senator from the great state of Ohio. We're talking about public education and how important it is.

00:17:08.660 As I mentioned, you came to this country as an immigrant. You have made an extraordinary success

00:17:15.300 of your life. Give us your thoughts about what has changed in this culture over the course of your

00:17:21.980 lifetime, and unfortunately, to the detriment of this nation.

00:17:28.680 When my family came here, there's myself, my five brothers, my sister, my mom and dad, nine of us,

00:17:33.680 moved into a two-bedroom apartment. My dad got a job making five bucks an hour, raising seven kids.

00:17:39.240 My mom became a realtor. What they talk about almost every single day was the importance of learning

00:17:45.300 language, learning the history of this country, and assimilating into American culture. The idea

00:17:50.620 that we left behind Colombia, and now we're here as Americans. My mom would be the person that would

00:17:56.780 be the most ardent America first supporter you could ever have met. She loved this country, Lou,

00:18:03.900 loved America. And the reality is today, Biden, the Democrats, they're letting people come into our

00:18:10.600 border completely illegally, with no ramifications. It's demeaning to those of us who follow the process

00:18:16.760 the right way. And then worst of all, they're encouraging people not to assimilate. They're

00:18:23.160 trying to create a multicultural America. We want to have a multi-ethnic country, but we need to

00:18:28.540 ultimately all understand that at the end of the day, we are all Americans. That's who we are. That's

00:18:33.860 what brings us together. English should be our official language. We shouldn't be having a country 0.99

00:18:39.980 where there's 17 different languages spoken. It's English. That's what binds us, the culture,

00:18:45.400 the language, the history. That's what coming here is all about. And that should be a prerequisite

00:18:50.080 for somebody who wants to come to America, that they take that as a given that they're going to

00:18:55.600 follow those rules. And to follow the rules. We have people talking about establishment Sharia law 0.95

00:19:03.180 in this country, talking about having a, there is so much of an impulse, if you will, in this country

00:19:12.200 right now toward division, toward segregation. I mean, it's mind boggling, all of the issues that

00:19:19.080 we fought so hard to rid this country of. One people is what this country is all about. All Americans,

00:19:29.000 irrespective of race or ethnicity, creed, or it's just amazing that we have let the Marxist

00:19:36.500 stems get this far in our schools, in our universities. And frankly, they're inculcating

00:19:43.120 young people in every fashion, whether it's through the federal government where they have

00:19:47.420 immense influence, public education, and two teachers unions that drive nearly everything that

00:19:54.720 happens, as well as our colleges and universities, which have become indoctrination centers. Your

00:20:01.340 thoughts?

00:20:02.420 I'll give you a quick story. When I went to college, I went to the same college that my son, my youngest

00:20:07.260 son went to. I'll make the story quick. The professor was an amazing guy. I walked with Martin Luther

00:20:13.300 King across the Selma Bridge. I took the class. I sat in the front row and him and I, Lou, argued.

00:20:18.940 You can't even imagine. Day in and day out. I mean, we went at it with each other. At the end of the

00:20:25.440 semester, he wrote me a note that said, hey, listen, I'm never giving an A-plus to anybody. I'm

00:20:30.980 giving you an A-plus. But let me be clear. I don't agree with any of the things that you believe in,

00:20:35.300 but I appreciate your passion. 30 years later, my son goes to that same school. Two days before school

00:20:40.700 starts, he gets a note that says, hey, we see you're Hispanic. So we have special counseling and

00:20:45.100 tutoring available for you. By the way, this is an A student, great student, takes a class,

00:20:49.920 professor decides that the women were mistreated in the class based on group assignments, gives 1.00

00:20:56.080 every guy in the class a B or less, and gives every girl in the class an A. That's what's changed in

00:21:01.400 our universities over 30 years. We've allowed it to happen, quite honestly. Those of us who ran

00:21:06.620 businesses, were taking care of our families, we figured, hey, somebody else is going to run this

00:21:10.700 government. It can't be that bad. Just leave us alone. And the reality is we've got these idiotic

00:21:14.780 politicians who only care about their careers, only care about their next election, that have 1.00

00:21:19.040 let this country go into a ditch. My dad used to say, Lou, you either write the book or you read the

00:21:24.160 book. But if you're not writing it, don't complain about the ending. And that's why I'm running. We

00:21:28.060 got to change this. We got to change and get us back to our original founding principles. And when we

00:21:33.520 do, not if we do, we'll get this country back on track for the next generation. Well, I'm inspired by

00:21:39.760 you and your father, your mother and your siblings as well. It is a nation of immigrants. It is one of

00:21:49.920 the things that we all talk about. To me, that's not enough of a response to what America is, because

00:21:55.840 yes, we're a nation of immigrants. We're also a nation of hard workers. We're a nation of great people

00:22:01.400 and great potential and great opportunity. We're so many things. But most of all, we're America.

00:22:08.640 And people won't even talk about America. You don't hear people talking about America,

00:22:14.260 our potentiality, whether they're in Congress or whether they're in a pulpit,

00:22:20.040 whether they're at a Kiwanis meeting, whatever it is. I hope they're talking about this great

00:22:26.420 country. People are afraid to be patriotic. It's corny. It is cliched for some, but no more

00:22:33.620 cliched, frankly, than anything originating with the left in this country. It's a time that we've

00:22:42.280 got so many pressures on us, economic, societal, ideological, philosophical differences. How do we

00:22:49.740 get to that point where we are squaring our shoulders and working as one people toward

00:22:56.700 keeping this great republic? I think it's on all of us. I think those of us who are in the business

00:23:03.220 world who've accomplished something need to think about going to Washington, D.C. or state capitals

00:23:09.220 or local elections to serve their country. We can't just sit on the sidelines. We don't send our

00:23:15.420 breasts and brightest to Washington, D.C., Lou. I think you know that. Imagine for a second if we

00:23:20.220 took the 535 most accomplished Americans who would go to Washington, D.C. to serve their country,

00:23:26.400 not for their own personal well-being, not to build wealth, not to build fame, but truly to serve this

00:23:33.360 great country. I think what we also have to do as Republicans is we have to be unequivocal in our

00:23:38.660 beliefs. We have to stand strong and not be afraid of the mainstream media. Listen, they're going to call

00:23:44.120 us all kinds of names. They will never like us. They will never agree with us. They're never going

00:23:48.380 to write a nice story about us. Get over that. Put the ideas in place. Force them through. Get this

00:23:54.960 country back on track. And then we have success. And when we have that success, that's what's

00:24:00.860 ultimately going to bring this country back together. I think people are starting to wake up.

00:24:05.180 The reality is that we're up against a very loud minority. I think we're a 65-35 country. I think 65%

00:24:11.980 of Americans believe in constitutional conservative principles, but that 35 is so damn loud. And they

00:24:19.000 have a great huge megaphone called the media. And we just got to plow through that.

00:24:23.040 And they've already taken over the federal government. And we've got to recognize that

00:24:27.740 fact as well. Bernie, it has been great talking with you. I wish you all the best of luck in your

00:24:34.280 campaign to be the next U.S. senator from the great state of Ohio. We appreciate it. And

00:24:41.000 all best. Thank you, Lou. Thank you again for having me. Best of luck to Bernie Marino. And

00:24:46.560 thanks, everybody, for being with us. Our guest here tomorrow on The Great America Show,

00:24:51.200 Mr. New York himself, radio legend Mark Simone. Please join us for that tomorrow. Join us each

00:24:57.160 and every day. Thanks, everybody. God bless you. And may God bless America.
