00:00:00.000 Hello, everybody. I'm Lou Dobbs. President Biden has to be wondering just how low his approval
00:00:06.400 ratings can go because nothing seems to be going his way. He's mistake prone. He's truth averse
00:00:13.920 and a committed leftist neoliberal who also appears to be trying to take America to war
00:00:19.960 with Russia. How else do we explain his pre-war remark about a, quote, minor incursion into
00:00:27.200 Ukraine in a news conference and his provocative statements in his trip to Belgium and Poland
00:00:32.960 saying the United States would, quote, respond in kind if Putin used chemical weapons. And finally,
00:00:40.480 he declared, quote, Putin cannot remain in power, end quote. What is the man thinking? The White
00:00:48.580 House tried to explain away the president's words, but they couldn't be unheard. And his statements
00:00:54.040 were provocative and revelatory of his state of mind, both before and during Russia's war on
00:01:01.240 Ukraine. Biden further personalized the conflict, calling Putin, quote, a butcher. No wonder some
00:01:08.460 Republican leaders are tempted to say as little as possible in this all-important midterm election
00:01:14.760 campaign, trying to stay out of Biden's way as he's cast himself as a warmonger and a hapless helper of
00:01:23.080 the wealthy and the left, spending trillions of dollars, returning inflation to 40-year highs,
00:01:29.320 almost doubling the price of gasoline with his anti-energy policies and decisions. And now he has 70% of
00:01:37.720 those surveyed saying Joe Biden is taking America in the wrong direction. And more than half say he's not
00:01:45.000 fit for the high office he holds. The House Republicans have just held their annual strategy summit,
00:01:51.920 planning the direction of the GOP into the elections this November. The big questions were all about
00:01:58.440 unity, leadership, and agenda. And of course, how the Republicans will run the House after they win
00:02:05.240 back control. With us now is Congressman Troy Nels, who served in the Army Reserve for 21 years.
00:02:12.780 He deployed on combat tours to both Afghanistan and Iraq, the recipient of two Bronze Stars. He served more
00:02:19.820 than a quarter century in law enforcement, most recently as the sheriff of Fort Bend County, Texas.
00:02:26.720 Welcome to the Great America Show, Congressman Nels. I want to start by talking about the GOP strategy
00:02:33.220 session and what is going to be the direction of the party. Is there anything really new about what
00:02:41.620 your conference is doing in the House? Well, I think, you know, what we're trying to do,
00:02:46.700 what Leader McCarthy is trying to do is bring the conference together, the 212 of us, to talk about
00:02:53.160 next year when we take over the majority. And Leader McCarthy will be the speaker. There's no
00:02:58.520 question about it. So I think he's just trying to get ahead of this. He's trying to plan. He's trying
00:03:03.160 to do everything he can to bring the 212 of us together. Because you know, when you get that party
00:03:10.980 in majority, when the Republicans become part of the majority, he's going to want to make sure that
00:03:16.100 we can get legislation across, get it through the House of Representatives. So I think he's just
00:03:22.720 trying to bring us all together. But I have a lot of questions, and I'm sure there are other members
00:03:27.600 that have questions as well. And it's not a conference that is famous for its unity and
00:03:33.540 solidarity. The number of rhinos in the conference has grown over the last 10 years, rather than
00:03:41.460 decline. And rhinos are looked upon in poll after poll, as a part of the problem, and not the solution.
00:03:48.660 What are your thoughts? Now, I can't disagree with that. I'm, I'm one of those guys that I'm,
00:03:55.420 I'm that America first patriot. So I, if you want to start going into the new year, you know,
00:04:01.440 with us in the majority, and we want to start raising debt ceilings and deficits and this and
00:04:06.320 that, I'm going to be a no. I mean, when the American people give us the house back, it's for
00:04:12.800 a reason. Because what we've seen over the past several months with the Democrats are inflation,
00:04:18.400 you know, obviously, gas prices, our poor southern border, Afghanistan, Ukraine. So the American people
00:04:25.420 are going to give us the house back. When they give us the house back, we need to take care of it.
00:04:29.260 And we need to reverse some of this irresponsible spending. I just hope that we have a leader
00:04:34.640 and a conference that's willing to make tough decisions, because it's going to require tough
00:04:40.080 decisions. But if you want to start raising the debt and doing all that other, I'm telling you,
00:04:44.700 I'm an America first patriot, and I'll be against it, without question.
00:04:48.680 Well, good for you. And I deeply respect your position. And I think the most of the American
00:04:54.100 people do as well. I've been one of those that have called and asked for Adam Kinzinger and Liz
00:04:59.600 Cheney to be thrown out. Well, fortunate we have about another eight months left of Adam Kinzinger,
00:05:05.120 because he's not seeking re-election, and hopefully Liz Cheney. And from what I hear,
00:05:09.120 she's going to get clobbered. And so I'm not going to miss her, quite honestly. But we have too many
00:05:15.480 people up here that tell the American people, tell their constituents specifically, what they want
00:05:21.400 to do. They want to reduce taxes. They want less regulation, less government, and they want all that.
00:05:26.780 But then when they get up here, they seem to do just the opposite. And we should all be concerned
00:05:31.140 about those. Without question. And it's interesting. Liz Cheney and Kinzinger, there was a lot of
00:05:39.720 discussion and a lot of debate within the party itself about what to do with them. But that debate
00:05:45.640 seems to have been resolved, and not in the favor of, by the way, Senator Mitch McConnell, who has been,
00:05:52.740 I think, one of the weakest leaders I could have ever imagined. You know, he speaks with that
00:05:58.380 stentorian tone. You expect there to be a significant mind behind those words that he utters. He is an
00:06:07.380 absolute problem for the Republican Party and for the country, frankly, because he is so weak and
00:06:17.820 confused about his own values, in my opinion. How does that get resolved, in your opinion?
00:06:26.000 Well, I do know that, you know, I don't get over to the Senate side very often. And I think Mitch
00:06:31.500 McConnell has failed the American people. And I do believe that former President Trump, who I
00:06:37.300 think, did one hell of a job for the American people. And in my humble opinion, he's coming
00:06:41.620 back, and he will be the 47th President of the United States. I think that individuals like
00:06:47.600 Mitch McConnell, Trump understands that he's a problem for the Republican Party. And there are
00:06:52.820 others. There are others out there that seem to just, you know, Joe Biden confuses the American
00:06:59.080 people. He's confused the American people just on his comments, his gaffes in Europe. And we have to
00:07:06.460 make sure that when the Republicans speak, we speak with clarity, and we speak with confidence and
00:07:12.220 conviction. But we have those that are just just as wishy-washy as Joe Biden is and Dr. Fauci, quite
00:07:18.640 honestly, wishy-washy. There are a lot of reasons for you, having been selected by your district to
00:07:25.980 serve in Congress, the 22nd district in Texas. You are direct, you're plain spoken. The leadership of
00:07:36.600 the party hasn't been that. Kevin McCarthy and whoever you all select is, I'm sure, going to be fine with
00:07:44.060 me, as long as they are an America first speaker and leader. I just can't understand quite how Kevin
00:07:55.840 McCarthy could attack the President of the United States. He sold out early on January 6th. He has
00:08:01.840 done very little. He's talking about doing a great deal. And I applaud him for what he's talking about
00:08:07.780 doing, his aspirations. But his record is very difficult. And I know that the conference has
00:08:14.300 got to come together. But don't you all have still a lot of airing out to do with the with the minority
00:08:20.900 leader? I think what you've seen, you know, Texas, we had our primary here on March, first couple days
00:08:29.760 of March, and I was very successful in my primary got 89% of the vote. So I think what I'm doing,
00:08:36.060 I think what I'm doing, the people in my district support me. And I've been one of those guys. I've,
00:08:41.800 you know, the Texas hammer, Tom DeLay was our member of Congress for for 22 years in Texas 22nd
00:08:47.340 district. I spoke to him about, you know, what, what does this require to be a member of Congress
00:08:52.060 with travel back and forth? And he pretty much made it very clear to me says, Troy, this is how it works
00:08:56.960 up there. There are a handful of people up there that make all the decisions, everybody else's
00:09:01.640 furniture. Well, I'm not going to be part of that furniture. I am. I'm going to stay true to myself.
00:09:06.940 When the voters elected me, I told them this is what I would like to do. And I'm staying true to
00:09:11.980 myself because I go to bed with a clear conscience. And we must hold our leadership accountable. It is
00:09:19.160 so very important. And I'm going to give letter leader McCarthy the benefit of the doubt that when he
00:09:23.720 takes the gavel, that we put the American people first, we are the one of the most generous countries
00:09:29.660 anywhere. I mean, we do more for foreign countries and providing them financial support when they're
00:09:35.780 in dire need, but we need to take care of the American people first. And that's, that's how I
00:09:41.440 hope he leads. I hope he leads the house by saying, let's take care of the American people first. You
00:09:46.880 want to go out there and help Ukraine and, and do all that other stuff. I think that's fine. Okay,
00:09:51.140 let's do that. But how about our Southern border first? If we would place as much emphasis on our
00:09:56.440 Southern border, as we have with Ukraine, we shouldn't have any problems at our Southern
00:10:00.620 border. I just hope we take care of the house when we get it back. It's, and I, and I love your
00:10:06.560 expression, take care of the house first, because so much needs to be done. A lot of, a lot of repair
00:10:14.720 and, and redirection on the part of the leadership. And I'm hopeful because I've been covering
00:10:20.640 our Congress and our Senate and our white house for a very long time. And to see the, what has
00:10:29.460 become a rickety institution when it should be at its most powerful. I mean, more money is being
00:10:35.680 spent than ever before. The debt is bigger than ever before. The challenges are greater than ever
00:10:42.160 before. And it seems that the house of representatives is really buckling under the pressure. And it is
00:10:48.860 an absolute delight to my ears, Congressman, to hear you talk about not wanting to be part of the
00:10:55.580 furniture and insisting on being the individual you are. But you are, if you will, a man's man.
00:11:02.040 You've served in the military. You've served in law enforcement. You are a Texan through and through.
00:11:09.040 And if we're honest with the American people, as we should be, we look at our Southern border. And
00:11:16.040 what we do today is we blame the Democrats for all of the problems that are Southern border.
00:11:20.960 And sometimes I have to remind my Republican friends that we had both chambers of Congress,
00:11:26.780 as well as the white house under Donald Trump. And Paul Ryan and them didn't do a damn thing to
00:11:32.460 secure the Southern border. They didn't support Trump's wall. Trump had to do it all on his own
00:11:37.280 through executive order. So sometimes I kind of believe like, you know, we have to be truthful
00:11:41.940 and honest with the American people to think that all the problems and all the ills across our
00:11:46.840 country, specifically the Southern border, are the Democrats' fault. That's just not accurate.
00:11:52.020 That would not be accurate because we could have done something to secure our nation's borders
00:11:57.060 and support President Trump with a wall. And we failed to do so. And that is so discouraging
00:12:03.920 that we had an opportunity to support President Trump and what he did in our Southern border
00:12:10.140 through executive order. We've had the most secure border in four decades, but he didn't
00:12:14.100 get the support of the establishment up here, did he? He didn't have the support of Speaker
00:12:17.800 Ryan. So I just, I got to hope that Leader McCarthy is going to be a different leader,
00:12:22.340 a different speaker. And I got to give him the benefit of the doubt right now.
00:12:25.340 Yeah. Never, I'm going to say this as an aside, never has there been some mediocre speakers,
00:12:31.300 but mediocrity personified as Paul Ryan, how he was elevated, how he was allowed to take the
00:12:40.280 conference in the direction he did, because that's exactly what he did do. He maneuvered that
00:12:44.560 conference through the strength of all of the rhinos that surrounded him and drove the Republican
00:12:51.980 Party into absolutely the antithetical position to everything Donald Trump was doing.
00:12:57.260 And the only reason that they were there to begin with is the 2016 election, the presence of Donald
00:13:03.960 Trump, who disrupted the Democratic machine and showed Republicans how to win and how to act
00:13:13.040 and how to fight. And Paul Ryan, meanwhile, was trying to let their blood. He was attaching leeches
00:13:22.240 everywhere he could to the body politic, draining them of their strength and their direction.
00:13:28.760 I really hold him immensely responsible for the failure of the party over the course of that time.
00:13:35.080 And I always think, and I'm sure you do as well, what Trump could have achieved, what the Republican
00:13:41.740 Party could have achieved, it could have. It had the opportunity to put the Democratic Party and the
00:13:48.780 Marxist left in the rearview mirror in this country and chose instead to play, you know, as supplicants
00:13:57.820 to the Chamber of Commerce and the Business Roundtable and the milquetoast that is Ryan McConnell and the
00:14:05.060 bunch. I want to talk about that border because you obviously have great experience there and
00:14:12.240 dealing with the issue and the aftermath of illegal immigration. We have two million people. That's the last
00:14:22.200 estimate I've seen. It seems reasonable. It's unreasonable, but it seems like a real number. Two million
00:14:28.900 illegal immigrants across that border this year, over the past year. I'm just stunned. And there is no outrage. There is
00:14:38.400 no cry. We now hear for the first time that DHS has finally asked for military help at the border.
00:14:46.480 I'm stunned that Alejandro Mayorkas, a radical leftist, he's like putting an arsonist in charge of the
00:14:54.480 fire department. He has let that go through. He must know that somehow the deal's been baked that the
00:15:02.440 Pentagon won't provide the troops. What do you think? Well, I think I've heard Mayorkas speak
00:15:09.180 months prior and he would look at the American people in the eyeball and tell them that the
00:15:16.180 southern border is closed. I'm down there with Griff Jenkins, you know, down in Laredo and McAllen
00:15:21.800 and watching people just come across the Rio Grande, just walk across the knee high water. So you can't
00:15:27.620 believe what that man says. And when you look at the position of Mayorkas in this administration,
00:15:33.140 Joe Biden, he didn't have to say a word about the southern border. It shouldn't even have came out
00:15:37.800 of his mouth. And we'd be much better off today than we are. Because under Trump's policies, we had
00:15:43.500 the most secure border in four decades. And now you look at the number of encounters in February of
00:15:48.960 2022, like 164,000 encounters. That's a 350% increase in 2020 under Donald Trump. But when you
00:15:58.480 get a president of the United States out on camera, inviting people from around the world to just come
00:16:05.060 into our nation, come through our southern border, we are a very welcoming country and we will open our
00:16:10.680 arms for you. What the hell did you think was going to happen? So this is by design. This isn't by
00:16:16.800 accident, Lou. This is exactly what the administration wants. He has created this
00:16:21.900 crisis. It's all by design. It's self-induced. It certainly is with his policies. And this is where
00:16:28.960 we are today. But you look at his approval ratings and the American people, border states such as Texas
00:16:35.040 and others, they're very, very concerned about the numbers of people coming through our southern
00:16:39.640 border. We have to take care of ourselves first, take care of ourselves first, secure that southern
00:16:45.280 border. But this administration isn't going to do it. Hopefully, you know, we can stop some of this
00:16:50.860 madness when we take over the House here next year. But I just have to hope and pray that that people
00:16:57.360 that are reasonable, that understand just how dangerous this is, because if you're concerned
00:17:02.160 about fentanyl deaths, and Lou, we lose 100,000 people a year to fentanyl. I mean, there's people being
00:17:07.960 killed in Ukraine. Don't get me wrong. It's horrible. But we have people being killed here every month
00:17:13.420 by fentanyl, drug overdoses, human trafficking, rising crime and everything. And what are we doing
00:17:20.300 about it? Very little, quite honestly. We're doing very little. And let's start taking care of
00:17:27.160 ourselves first. I can't even imagine why every American doesn't applaud your words. But right now,
00:17:39.100 we accept 100,000 fentanyl deaths as collateral damage every year. It's just collateral damage.
00:17:45.660 Those aren't, those people aren't, had no potential. They had no lives. They had no families. No one cared
00:17:53.840 about them. Of course they did. Their families grieving all over this country. But we don't have a
00:17:59.120 politician standing up and saying, by God, I'm not going to put up with any more of this. The Republican
00:18:04.160 Party has been quiet throughout, Congressman. There has been no outrage from Kevin McCarthy,
00:18:11.520 Mitch McConnell. They haven't stood up. One man stood up. And that man was Donald Trump when he
00:18:17.240 declared war on the cartels. We have never had an American president before or since say the drug
00:18:24.740 cartels are the enemy of this country and we're going after them. And do you know what kind of response
00:18:30.820 he got from the left? He was hooted. And he was insensitive. And he was a racist because he was
00:18:37.900 taking on the drug cartels that are killing hundreds of thousands of people. It's just insane what is
00:18:43.920 going on in this country. And I put much of the blame at corporate America and the corporate news
00:18:49.980 media. You know, ABC News owned by Disney, CBS News, CBS Viacom, NBC by Comcast, Washington Post by Jeff
00:19:00.340 Bezos and other oligarchs, all controlling big tech, social media, you name it. We have become an
00:19:07.640 un-American America. And we really have to write that. There's no question about it. And, you know,
00:19:13.960 when I was the sheriff of Fort Bend County for eight years, I would have to look into the eyes of
00:19:18.760 of family members, of an individual that killed one of our senior citizens in Fort Bend County.
00:19:24.540 And to only find out, Luke, the guy was deported eight, eight previous times. How do you look at
00:19:33.000 anyone as a sheriff, as a law enforcement professional, and try to explain that and say,
00:19:38.540 well, this is the policy of the American people. This is the policy of administrations in the past,
00:19:45.200 Democrat and Republican, by the way, that individuals can be deported from our country,
00:19:50.880 and they can just seem to just come back within 12 months, because we've interviewed a lot of them.
00:19:55.780 A lot of them that are parts of gangs and just very, very organized in crime. And then a sheriff
00:20:02.840 and law enforcement throughout Texas, quite honestly, throughout the entire country, have to explain
00:20:08.040 to the victims and the victims' families as to how did this person ever get back here. I don't have
00:20:14.620 an answer other than we haven't had a president like Donald Trump before. A guy that said, we're
00:20:21.040 going to build a wall. Donald Trump said the southern border needs to be secured. And he followed through
00:20:28.080 on his commitment to the American people. And you're right, he was ridiculed. The left said that he has
00:20:33.180 cages. And this man is a barbarian. And he just doesn't care about human life. It could be furthest
00:20:39.080 thing from the truth. Because I don't know of too many people that love this country more than Donald
00:20:45.920 Trump. He's just been an amazing president. And he's going to come back and be the 47th.
00:20:51.760 I hope you're right. I believe you're right. I wish we could get there in a hurry. Because we have
00:20:58.420 got so many challenges, so many threats facing us. And amongst those threats are, I truly believe
00:21:04.820 this, despite the fact that China and Russia are the absolute enemies of this country, and no one
00:21:11.320 should think about them in any other way. We continue to make China. This is one of the great
00:21:17.060 conundrums to me in American history. We lionize. We've created communist China with our trade,
00:21:27.100 with our offshoring of production, our outsourcing of jobs, half a trillion dollars in deficits every
00:21:35.560 year. It's extraordinary. And we hate Russia. We're told we're going to hate Russia. They're both
00:21:44.900 communist regimes. They're both tyrannical. They're both totalitarian. And yet, we favor one to our
00:21:53.860 immense discredit and dependency. We depend on China now in ways that no nation should have to
00:22:02.660 depend on another. And Russia, you know, Joe Biden talks tough like some sort of neighborhood thug.
00:22:10.820 He's a joke. He's a pencil neck joke, sitting there talking tough, as long as he's got the United States
00:22:17.160 military behind him. It's unseemly. It's an ignorant way to behave as president. My God, why did I don't
00:22:24.500 hear anyone at the Washington Post talking about this president acting presidential? Presidents don't
00:22:29.300 talk like Joe Biden. They don't make stupid threats. And they don't call names. It's awful to watch. And I
00:22:37.160 don't see a way. I don't see a way to separate from the left in this country right now. And we desperately
00:22:43.820 need to do so. I think with what you see with China, what you see with Russia, under Donald Trump,
00:22:50.900 he kept his thumb on both of them. Putin never went into Ukraine under Donald Trump, did he?
00:22:56.480 And when you think about President Trump holding China accountable with more fair trade, that's
00:23:01.880 exactly what he did with some of those tariffs. He knew that there would be some immediate pain with
00:23:06.060 some of the farmers. But in the end, they all supported him because it was the right move to make
00:23:10.500 all about more fair trade with China. And now China's toying with Taiwan because this administration
00:23:17.340 and Joe Biden, he's weak. They're exploiting the weakness. We have a very weak dog in this fight.
00:23:24.060 And that is Joe Biden and, quite honestly, his entire administration. Everything that this guy says
00:23:30.240 or fails to say is just putting our country in a very more dangerous position. His speaking ability
00:23:37.340 and certainly look at his assistant, Vice President Harris, you can't get her. You can't
00:23:42.980 believe her. And she's an absolute failure to whether it's our southern border, just her walking
00:23:48.620 across other going to other countries and some of her gaffes as well. Quite honestly, it's embarrassing.
00:23:55.500 So you go from a very strong leader, a leader that displayed strength and confidence to a leader
00:24:03.460 we now have with Joe Biden. The adversaries are taking full advantage of it. We shouldn't be in
00:24:09.360 the Ukraine, quite honestly, or Putin shouldn't have even gone into the Ukraine. But he's exploiting
00:24:14.780 the weakness. He spits in Biden's eye each and every day. Sanctions, sanctions. That's kind of a
00:24:20.940 confusing word to me right now because sanctions are supposed to deter, but then they're not supposed
00:24:25.940 to deter. He's so confused. His administration's confused. And I think it's just a sad state of affairs,
00:24:31.560 a very dangerous time for America and the world. Indeed. And, you know, the idea that this
00:24:39.720 administration exists at all with those two personalities, those two people at the top
00:24:46.880 of the administration. The President of the United States is Joe Biden. No one believes for a moment,
00:24:54.020 I won't say no one, but a vast majority of the American people know there's something wrong with that
00:25:01.100 man. He cannot speak straightforwardly. He cannot speak cogently. He cannot put thoughts together
00:25:08.080 and finish sentences. He and Kamala Harris, she speaks in sentences, but there are no words that
00:25:15.380 mean anything. I can't believe what she did at the security conference in Munich, what she has done in
00:25:22.460 the aftermath of the invasion of Ukraine by Russia. She makes no sense. She doesn't pretend to know
00:25:29.340 anything. The Democratic Party has much to account for. And putting these two people into those two
00:25:37.900 jobs, they have risked the security of this nation as it's never been risked before, in my opinion.
00:25:46.800 There's no question about it. There's no substance with Kamala Harris. And quite honestly, when you look
00:25:51.900 at Joe Biden, I don't even know if he's really in control or if he's in charge. But I would probably
00:25:57.440 say I'm more disappointed in Jill Biden, because Jill Biden knows her husband better than anyone.
00:26:04.420 She knew that he was having issues. But it seemed like she wanted to be the first lady of the United
00:26:09.440 States. And I'm kind of disappointed in her because you know what, Jill, when you watch your husband up
00:26:16.400 there with with all these memory lapses and all these silly things that he says, you knew it before
00:26:22.360 anyone else. You lived with this guy for years. So I'm really disappointed in her that she didn't
00:26:28.800 try to protect her husband, her husband first, you know, before being president. So I'm, I'm really
00:26:35.840 kind of disappointed in Jill Biden, because she should have, she should have never allowed this to happen,
00:26:40.980 because she knows her husband better than anyone.
00:26:43.680 You make a, I think, a great point, and an absolutely correct point, I believe. Jill Biden,
00:26:52.340 by the way, he, this man can't get off most stages when he's speaking, he can't get off the stage
00:26:58.840 without getting lost. He can't leave the stage successfully, unless she is there to lead him by
00:27:05.000 the hand to navigate the stage, then the steps down from the stage, and through a crowd. It is,
00:27:12.560 it is something to behold. And then the media pretends that he's just fine. The Democratic
00:27:18.640 Party pretends he's just fine. And for crying out loud, the rhino leaders of the Republican Party
00:27:24.440 are absolutely mute, instead of looking out for the national security. Now, I don't know what the
00:27:30.320 solution is. Because if you remove him from office, if he can't pass a cognitive test, then you have
00:27:36.800 Kamala Harris. At some point, you're going to line up cognitive tests to the point that you're going to
00:27:42.080 be somewhere, you know, perhaps the junior most person in the Biden cabinet for somebody to run
00:27:50.380 the country. What are your thoughts? Well, my thoughts are this, we have to be very, very careful
00:27:55.220 what we wish for, because I know a lot of people have asked for Joe Biden to resign. And I think
00:27:59.840 he's done a horrible job and probably one of the worst almost right there with Jimmy Carter. But who
00:28:05.040 would be the second? And I think she could even be more dangerous than he. So I'm just, I'm looking
00:28:10.620 forward to the 2024 presidential election. If he's not running again, and he certainly shouldn't,
00:28:16.580 I hope the Democrats nominate Kamala Harris. I think Trump would have a lot of fun with her.
00:28:21.440 Matter of fact, if you don't like her, why don't you bring back Hillary? Trump would love to toy
00:28:24.960 with that woman all day long. So I don't care who the Democrats bring up or, you know, who they
00:28:30.240 nominate. I think Donald Trump will be able to get up on a stage and talk to the American people about
00:28:35.700 the way our country was run under his leadership. When he was president United States for those four
00:28:40.880 years, with record unemployment, with more security and stability across the world, a secure southern
00:28:47.920 border, under executive orders, of course, and just everything was rolling right along. But then we get
00:28:53.940 this little thing called COVID come out of China, manufactured out of China. And that's what took
00:28:58.460 Donald Trump down. He would have been president today if it wouldn't have been for COVID. And some of
00:29:02.920 these governors and these liberal mayors and everybody creating their own rules, bending the
00:29:07.320 election laws. And so I don't think the Democrats are going to be able to do that in 2024. When Donald
00:29:13.940 Trump gets 74 million votes in 2024, he will be the next president of the United States because you
00:29:19.580 ain't going to get all these ballots to be mailed and absentee ballots and universal mail-in ballots
00:29:25.080 because they won't have that COVID. They won't have that COVID as an excuse. And so I got to hope for
00:29:32.220 the future. I can't. I just hope that better days are ahead. And with Donald Trump, that's exactly
00:29:38.580 we need him now more than ever. Let me ask you, Congressman. 2022, the midterm election is
00:29:47.300 critically important. I don't see or hear about the Republicans doing a thing to stop mail-in ballots,
00:29:53.940 to stop the National Emergency Act by which those mail-in ballots were created and universal ballots that
00:30:01.440 are being mailed out in various states and certainly the battleground states where Donald
00:30:07.160 Trump lost by about a total of 70,000 votes. It's just amazing that the Republican Party is not more
00:30:16.680 energetic and moving to the local level to provide support and help, whether it's legal help, whether
00:30:23.540 it is templates for how to carry out a secure election. Don't you think that would be an
00:30:30.520 appropriate thing for the Republicans to be doing right now? I think so. And what I couldn't be more
00:30:36.220 proud of, Lo, you mentioned Texas and I'm obviously represent Texas 22nd District. I think our state
00:30:42.740 legislature has done a very good job as it relates to having more election integrity. I do know that there
00:30:50.300 were many, many mail-in ballots or absentee ballots that were requested and were rejected because they
00:30:56.820 failed to meet the state law of like having an ID or social security number. So I think there are
00:31:03.180 certain states like Texas, Florida, and others that are doing everything they can to try to help make
00:31:08.540 sure that they have very secure elections. But it's unfortunate there are just other states that just
00:31:13.300 don't seem to care too damn much over that. And I just have to hope that the state legislatures that
00:31:20.480 have Republican leadership and are controlled by the Republicans take this issue very seriously,
00:31:26.340 because quite honestly, January 6th was a very difficult day. I was stuck right in the middle of
00:31:31.820 it. But I think, too, that the American people have to truly understand that January 6th was not Donald
00:31:37.660 Trump's issue. That wasn't Donald Trump. I've done a very, very in-depth study of January 6th. I have a
00:31:43.880 book coming out in the next month or so that will let the American people know that what they're hearing
00:31:49.560 from the liberal media and what they're hearing from Benny Thompson and this sham January 6th committee
00:31:54.860 is just not accurate. The Capitol Police, the National Guard, I've gone through it all and spent hundreds
00:32:02.060 of hours on it. We're going to let the American people know the truth about January 6th. And so I'm
00:32:08.360 looking forward to that as well, because I think the American people need to hear the truth. And I spoke
00:32:12.660 to Donald Trump about this, President Trump, and said, it's coming out because it's going to clear you,
00:32:17.240 sir. It really will. Well, that's exciting. And we're delighted. And congratulations on the book.
00:32:24.280 We need more information, not less. It's fascinating to see the left say, well,
00:32:31.800 don't talk about the election. Don't talk about 2020. We don't need to, we don't need to hear all of
00:32:38.220 that again. They don't want you to hear it. They wanted Donald Trump to accept defeat as if nothing
00:32:43.880 untoward had happened, that there wasn't fraud, that there wasn't a campaign that wasn't found to be
00:32:52.640 worthy of investigation by Bill Barr, the attorney general. I still can't believe that. The FBI didn't
00:32:59.900 investigate. The Justice Department didn't investigate. Bill Barr acknowledged that he knew
00:33:05.560 that the President of the United States, Joe Biden, was lying in the third debate about the laptop,
00:33:12.920 his son's laptop, which was clearly not Russian disinformation. We had 50 people in the intelligence
00:33:19.160 community put their names to a letter with five former directors of the CIA and lie through their teeth
00:33:27.960 to the American people. And there hasn't been a single, single consequence. In fact, they've got
00:33:32.320 pretty good jobs as contributors for a lot of cable networks. I mean, we're turned over cable networks to
00:33:38.180 the CIA. That was a result in large measure. And it's a cover up of the of the highest order. The
00:33:45.080 President calls it the greatest scandal in history. But right there with it is the cover up that
00:33:49.820 followed. There's no question about that. And I have faith and confidence in Representative Jim Jordan,
00:33:57.200 he's going to be the chair over judiciary, I think that he is working with Leader McCarthy to make
00:34:02.860 sure that that judiciary that we can look at some of these investigations as it relates to Hunter Biden's
00:34:09.240 laptop in January 6, all the equipment we left in Afghanistan, the southern border, COVID, Fauci. So
00:34:16.040 hopefully that we'll look at some of these, these issues, obviously, and we need to expose the truth.
00:34:21.780 Absolutely, we need to expose the truth. And when you look at what what the previous administration
00:34:27.120 did with with two impeachments of Donald Trump, Russia collusion, Obama using the FBI to spy on
00:34:34.560 Trump and his campaign. You know, I had a I had a conversation with President Trump about this a
00:34:39.900 couple weeks ago that the Capitol Police now Nancy Pelosi is using the Capitol Police's own her own
00:34:46.060 private security force, because they've been in my office, they took pictures of my whiteboard,
00:34:51.240 my legislative affairs, and ideas. And they took a picture that and shared it with the intelligence.
00:34:57.820 And so I was under criminal investigation by the Capitol Police. But the good news is, is the IG is
00:35:03.700 conducting an investigation, the inspector general is conducting an investigation, and he'll have that
00:35:09.100 investigation out to me and the in the next two weeks. So that they're spying on members of
00:35:14.180 Congress that have dissenting points of views. They spied on President Trump, they've impeached him
00:35:19.480 twice. And what we're finding out is, it was all just fake news, fake news, and lies being spread.
00:35:26.300 It just tells you how dangerous these Democrats are, and to what extreme they will go to win.
00:35:33.040 Yeah. And when I said earlier, that the left in this country, we have to separate them from the from the
00:35:40.520 levers of power in this country. They are vicious, they are Marxist, and they are determined to tear
00:35:47.560 this country to pieces. And they're doing so by assaulting our institutions, whether it be our,
00:35:53.580 our public schools, our universities, our colleges, our courts, our law enforcement for crying out loud.
00:36:00.960 The FBI office in Los Angeles was throwing a party for Kentonji Brown Jackson with her getting through
00:36:10.480 her hearings with flying colors. Can you imagine the FBI having a party in a federal building over this
00:36:20.040 Supreme Court justice? It's just, it's just stunning to me to see what the FBI has become. You've been in
00:36:28.020 law enforcement a long time. What the FBI is today is, I mean, it is a purely frightening,
00:36:34.400 frightening institution. No question. And we worked with the FBI, I was a sheriff of a very large
00:36:41.280 county. So we had to work with the FBI on issues. And I think most of the men and women, the individuals,
00:36:48.200 the FBI agents on the ground do a great job. And it's the leadership of the FBI. In my humble opinion,
00:36:54.200 that's the problem. And then they'll convince some agents to see things their way. Same thing with the
00:36:59.600 Capitol police. They do a great job up here. These men and women that are out there standing guard at
00:37:05.000 the doors and other places, I think do a great job, but it's the leadership again of the Capitol
00:37:09.420 police that to me controlled by Nancy Pelosi. So we just have to hope that that better days are ahead.
00:37:15.760 I think about that Supreme court nominee can't even define what a woman is. And, and then we have men
00:37:21.840 that are women, you know, winning, you know, swimming events in the NCAA, quite honestly, Lou,
00:37:28.260 my dad has been gone for well over a decade now, but if he could come back for a moment, I don't think
00:37:33.240 he could even recognize this country. It has flipped so quickly. A lot of us started flipping under Obama
00:37:38.820 with all this racial stuff. And, and it's just a sad state of affairs that we as American people,
00:37:44.360 what doesn't matter what color you are, that, that we seem to just be fighting and we're being pitted
00:37:49.080 against each other, black versus white. It's just very, very sad. And I just hope that at some point
00:37:54.740 in time, we have a dynamic leader that can bring the American people back together. And I think that
00:38:00.940 person will be Donald J. Trump. I think that's a, that is a major step in the right direction to, to heal this
00:38:09.000 country. I don't know if you watch basketball, but I, my wife and I love college.
00:38:14.360 Basketball. And we saw this great little team of St. Peter's from New Jersey. They, they had a
00:38:24.120 great run. They were amazing underdog. First time a 15th seed has ever gone beyond into the,
00:38:30.960 the elite eight. They were magnificent, but they wore shirts with BLM on them. And no one told them
00:38:39.520 that BLM has been a, is a discredited organization. It was a fraud throughout. They, their leaders are
00:38:48.000 gone. They abandoned everything and took millions and millions of dollars with them. And no one told
00:38:54.900 those young, young men, don't do that because you look, you really look bad, not knowing what's
00:39:02.200 happening in your country. It isn't about Black Lives Matter. That was a fraud. And it was a fraud on
00:39:07.980 the entire country. Uh, you know, we have a tradition on this show, Congressman, we always
00:39:14.100 give our guests the last word and I'm going to turn it over to you. Uh, and I appreciate you being
00:39:19.400 with us. Uh, thank you, Lou. And thank you for having me, but you're absolutely right. As an old
00:39:23.420 law enforcement officer and what we saw take place last summer with the summer riots and the hypocrisy
00:39:30.040 that we see from the left, they want to talk about January 6th and all these insurrectionists. Nobody's
00:39:36.100 been charged with insurrection. We see what, uh, the only life that was, uh, that was taken by
00:39:41.880 gunfire was Ashley Babbitt to me that was murdered by Lieutenant Byrd. And I expose him in my book as
00:39:48.360 well. But last summer with all the rioting that you took place, $20 billion in damage, and it just
00:39:54.120 seemed to be okay. The left thought it was okay. And when you look at a number of those people that was
00:39:59.060 causing that damage was Antifa and BLM. Now they're distinct, different organizations, but they all
00:40:04.920 really talk about, it's all about socialism and communism, quite honestly, and they hate this
00:40:09.980 country. That's really what it's all about. So I think that many, many young people have been duped
00:40:15.700 thinking that BLM was actually about Black Lives Matter. Well, if you really care about lives, all lives
00:40:21.640 matter, Lou, all lives. Thank you for having me. Well, it's been a delight and I enjoyed talking with
00:40:29.000 you. We wish all the very best, Congressman. Thank you. Thank you. God bless you, Lou,
00:40:33.060 and your listeners. Congressman Troy Nels, a great American. Tomorrow here, we'll be talking with Tom
