00:01:14.940 Hello, everybody. I'm Lou Dobbs. Welcome to The Great America Show. Great of you to be with us.
00:01:23.280 The Supreme Court responding to Special Counsel Jack Smith's request for a ruling
00:01:27.660 on President Trump's immunity plea. It took the Supreme Court less than two days to respond to the
00:01:34.320 junkyard jackal's request. It seems almost too good to be true, doesn't it? Where was that
00:01:39.920 expedition at the court when it came to the 2020 election and all the irregularities?
00:01:46.040 In a brief order, the Supreme Court signaled it would grant Jack Smith's request for an expedited
00:01:52.120 consideration, giving Trump's attorneys until December 20th to respond to arguments on the
00:01:59.020 President's immunity. Legal scholar Jonathan Turley says Smith is going outside the regular order
00:02:05.240 because he is clearly obsessed with convicting Trump before the 2024 election.
00:02:12.260 It is not the regular order of things. Smith had just filed, or this matter was just filed before
00:02:18.840 the D.C. Circuit. And then he decided that he wanted to leapfrog over the Court of Appeals and go
00:02:25.860 directly to the Supreme Court. The only reason for that is that he is really focused entirely on
00:02:32.600 trying Trump during this campaign and trying to convict him before the election. The question
00:02:38.960 is whether the Supreme Court's going to feel that that is such an urgent priority that you actually
00:02:45.100 bring this case before Super Tuesday. Usually the Supreme Court likes to hear from multiple court
00:02:52.160 of appeals. They certainly want normally to hear from at least one on these issues. And so they may not
00:02:58.220 have the same sense of priority as Smith, who seems almost obsessed with trying Trump before the
00:03:05.600 election. Turley also brought up another interesting reason for Smith to try the case and to do so
00:03:11.640 expeditiously. It's interesting. The possibility that Trump might grant himself a presidential pardon.
00:03:19.360 Here's Turley. If Trump wins, he can pardon himself and then Smith will never see a jury in this case.
00:03:25.880 I mean, so if Trump does prevail in the election, if he's not convicted at that point, he can give
00:03:32.700 himself a preemptory pardon. He doesn't have to wait for the trial. To me, this is nothing more than
00:03:39.020 election interference, an attempt by the special counsel to jail the leading political opponent of
00:03:45.400 the president of the United States, Joe Biden. This is un-American. It's inhumane. And I have to say,
00:03:52.460 if the court supports the special counsel on this, it is absolutely a disaster.
00:03:58.500 Speaker Mike Johnson, failing another major test of his speakership, he caved on the FISA 702
00:04:05.580 surveillance bill. We told you about that yesterday. This week, there would be a bid to end warrantless
00:04:12.500 surveillance of American citizens. Andy Biggs, the sponsor, and it looks like a major blowback is on
00:04:19.620 its way from members of both parties because Speaker Johnson decided to withdraw both FISA bills,
00:04:26.220 not to have a vote, and to insert an extended 702 authorization for another four months.
00:04:35.680 The speaker is now bound to FBI Director Christopher Wray and others in the deep state
00:04:41.580 to not put forward any reforms on the FISA bill and to simply put it within the NDAA,
00:04:49.360 which is exactly what Speaker Johnson has agreed to do. We urge you to call your members of Congress,
00:04:55.960 your senators, and tell them you want reform to the FISA program and that you're against the NDAA
00:05:02.600 being coupled with a 702 extension. The number to get a hold of your representative or your senator,
00:05:08.360 again, is the Capitol switchboard. That number is 202-224-3121. That's 202-224-3121.
00:05:20.860 Please make your voice heard. Our guest today is Congressman Matt Rosendale of the great state
00:05:26.720 of Montana. And Congressman, great to have you back with us here on The Great America Show. I have to say,
00:05:32.540 I'm watching your conference, your colleagues in the Republican Party, and I don't think there's any
00:05:38.600 hyperbole here to say things look a little out of control. Your thoughts? I don't think we're
00:05:44.560 really devolving to chaos, but I will tell you this, Lil. You are starting to see, those who haven't
00:05:51.460 watched it over the years, very clearly this stark line between those who keep their campaign
00:05:58.040 promises and those who walk around and make a lot of promises to get elected and then never abide by
00:06:05.020 them. And whether we're discussing the crazy spending that takes place up here or the commitment
00:06:12.820 to put America's needs first, that's where we're seeing these very stark lines drawn. And there's a
00:06:19.820 small group of conservatives that continue to try to bring the conference, the Republican
00:06:27.280 conference over to the right, over to the side that they campaigned on, and we're having a difficult
00:06:33.800 time doing so. And then what you see is this continual effort by leadership, instead of just
00:06:40.800 bringing votes to the floor, allowing people to show exactly what they believe in or allowing people
00:06:48.640 to demonstrate what they truly believe in, to basically give them cover by utilizing tools like
00:06:56.900 continuing resolutions and just extending authorities out instead of trying to make the changes that
00:07:03.800 are necessary to preserve our republic. I don't know who Mike Johnson is, and I don't know about,
00:07:10.360 I don't know how reliable he is as a leader. Can you give me some reason for hope?
00:07:16.480 Because you have a small group of conservatives that are still out here fighting for the people,
00:07:21.600 though. But I'll tell you that that that is what the state of our republic lies in right now. It truly
00:07:27.860 does. When I see that the Intel Committee and the Judiciary Committee cannot come to terms on a reform of
00:07:36.900 the FISA legislation, what they're calling 702, in order to make sure that we can protect our country,
00:07:43.600 but primarily make sure that we protect the civil liberties of every citizen across this country.
00:07:51.160 And they were going to try and utilize some tool that they call Queen of the Hill, so that we decide as a
00:07:58.740 Congress which one of these pieces of legislation we like better. And they couldn't even come to terms with that.
00:08:05.320 We cannot be silent, okay? I was not sent here to try to accommodate the status quo, try to accommodate
00:08:16.520 leadership, and try to get legislation passed without ruffling feathers. I was sent up here
00:08:23.280 to make changes, to preserve our republic. And like you say, that is what it's going to take between the
00:08:30.840 fiscal issues that we are facing right now, and the invasion that's taking place on our southern border.
00:08:37.680 Everything else, to me, honestly, falls well below that in terms of importance. But FISA is one of the
00:08:47.460 important things, because I will tell you, that's what they used to spy on President Trump. That's what
00:08:52.140 they have used to spy on Catholics who decided to attend Latin masses. That's what they have used
00:08:58.120 to spy on parents who wanted to attend school board meetings to advocate for their children. And we
00:09:04.780 must have reforms, or quite frankly, I say, terminate FISA if you're not going to have those reforms put in
00:09:11.120 place. I don't understand how the Intelligence Committee of either the House or the Senate could
00:09:19.080 approve 702 again without substantial reform. Personally, I would prefer it be absolutely removed.
00:09:26.300 But without reform, because these agencies, the very same agencies, and plus a few, spied on the Senate
00:09:37.100 and House Intelligence Committees. And they've done it over the course of, what, the past 15 years.
00:09:43.300 What ignorance drives a man who is the chairman of that committee to reauthorize any tool that has been
00:09:52.100 abused so profoundly by the intelligence agencies, the FBI, and the Department of Justice?
00:09:59.380 I have to think, okay, that his intentions are pure. I will give him the benefit of the doubt. And I think
00:10:07.860 that what is happening is that he is so immersed in the intelligence community that they have convinced
00:10:16.100 him that this is an absolute necessity in order to protect our nation. I think his intentions are pure.
00:10:22.740 The problem is that for those of us that are on the outside looking in, we fall back to Benjamin
00:10:29.220 Franklin, I think is the one that paraphrase, and I'll paraphrase, he who is willing to compromise some
00:10:35.220 of his liberty for some perceived security deserves neither. And so I think that that's what these guys are
00:10:43.540 stuck on that they really believe that they're trying to preserve our liberties by, you know,
00:10:50.980 compromising this or preserve our security by compromising our liberties. And they are taking
00:10:56.740 away both. And the intel community, of course, wants to have as many tools to investigate as many people
00:11:06.580 as they possibly can, with the promise that they would never turn these tools against American
00:11:13.460 citizens or folks that they perceive as being innocent. I do not believe that our Constitution
00:11:21.220 gives them the ability to even have that choice.
00:11:24.500 And again, I agree with you and I applaud your position on it. We're talking with Congressman Matt
00:11:30.660 Rosendale, great American. We're coming right back with him right after these words. Stay with us.
00:11:36.580 We're back. We're talking with Congressman Matt Rosendale. And Congressman, again, we have a
00:11:46.580 conference that is showing itself to be divided, and particularly over issues that should, it seems,
00:11:53.060 at least to me, and I certainly can't speak to the American people. But these are issues that run to the
00:11:58.740 heart of principle for patriots and certainly for those who represent the American people, I would think.
00:12:05.220 And that is authorizing a tool to spy on the American people for whatever reason.
00:12:14.820 There seems to be a contest of will in the conference over that. It seems straightforward.
00:12:21.700 How complicated could it be? And why would the Speaker of the House make commitment after commitment
00:12:28.420 after commitment break that commitment completely, in some instances, frankly, inflame a number of
00:12:36.100 committees that were involved in the NDAA? They thought they were negotiating for it. And the next thing
00:12:43.300 they know, they've been treated just like servants with a new master. Your thoughts?
00:12:50.180 So the intelligence community in this city, across the nation, wants as much information as they can
00:12:59.460 possibly get their hands on, with the promise that they would never use it against American citizens.
00:13:06.100 And again, that's not what the Constitution, that's not what the Bill of Rights states. And so the FISA
00:13:12.900 language, which they're calling 702, keep in mind, FISA stands for Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act.
00:13:22.420 Anytime that they are utilizing any portion of that to gather information from an American citizen,
00:13:29.700 as far as I'm concerned, it is wrong and it should not be allowed. And there is a lot of people
00:13:36.580 that are continuing to try and reform FISA. It was put in place under the scare tactics of a tax on
00:13:43.780 upon our country and upon our citizens. And this goes back again to Benjamin Franklin saying that anyone
00:13:51.700 who is willing to compromise their liberty for some perceived security deserves neither. And people were
00:13:59.060 so horrified though, some of the acts, they said, well, we're willing to compromise here. We're willing to
00:14:04.260 let them peek in to our emails. We're willing to let them take a little peek into the phone records of
00:14:14.180 some individuals. Who's making these decisions? And what are they doing with that information? And what
00:14:20.500 happens when they open up that door and it opens up to another door, to another door, to another door?
00:14:25.780 It is a dangerous path that we have allowed ourselves to go down. And there's a lot of American citizens that
00:14:32.420 I'm convinced that their civil liberties have been violated as a direct result of this. And so the
00:14:39.540 the Judiciary Committee is trying to substantially rein this in. The Intel Committee is not because,
00:14:47.860 again, they're listening to the Intel community that not just wants all that information, Lou, but keep in
00:14:53.540 mind, there are people that are profiting immensely by developing more surveillance equipment and gathering
00:15:01.460 more of this information. They benefit financially from this. And we have got to stop allowing the
00:15:07.700 lobbyists, the Unistate, the Uniparty and Chuck Schumer and Mitch McConnell to get together and direct
00:15:16.980 legislation around this city. I just cannot imagine what they're doing to the American people because
00:15:22.660 it's plain as it can be that this is deleterious to the Republican, to the American way, our way of
00:15:30.500 life. And we just really have to come to terms with so much. And peculiarly, at the same time,
00:15:39.460 we're waiting for a vote to formalize, to certify the impeachment inquiry.
00:15:46.500 Right. Again, the evidence is out front of everyone. It's straightforward. It is money laundering,
00:15:54.100 and it had only one purpose. And that was to line the pockets of President Biden and the Biden family.
00:16:01.300 So why is there such consternation, such hesitation about moving straight ahead with that impeachment?
00:16:08.740 The only thing that I can imagine is that the Republican leadership and those that are making
00:16:15.700 those decisions, I don't have the authority to make that decision to bring that resolution to the floor.
00:16:21.860 And I'm thinking that they are trying to basically overcompensate. It's almost like when you hire one
00:16:27.780 of your children to come into your firm and you bear down on them harder than you do any other employee,
00:16:33.540 just to show that you're not having showing favoritism. And I think that they're trying to
00:16:37.940 show that that we are doing a much better job than the Democrats did with the faulty and failed
00:16:44.420 impeachment process that they brought forward on President Trump on both of the impeachment
00:16:50.900 resolutions that they brought forth on them, that these are truly thoughtful resolutions that are
00:16:56.820 backed by facts and the charges are substantial and that they should be honored.
00:17:03.140 That's all I can I can come up with.
00:17:05.540 And all I can come up with is that this is, again, an issue of leadership.
00:17:10.500 Mike Johnson, the new speaker, he looks like he's a tool of K Street for crying out loud.
00:17:16.820 I think that the impeachment inquiry is actually just the tip of the iceberg myself.
00:17:23.700 I personally believe that based upon the different financial transactions that have already been
00:17:30.340 shared with us because of the good work that Jamie Comer has done, that we really should witness the
00:17:36.820 Department of Justice bringing forth charges and prosecutions to Joe Biden and many of his family members.
00:17:46.740 And to your point, Chairman James Comer, Congressman from Kentucky, I think he's done a wonderful job.
00:17:53.380 He and his committee have just been outstanding.
00:17:56.820 And I think the same is true with judiciary and ways and means.
00:18:01.460 But I think Comer is so frustrated.
00:18:04.500 It is so obvious as you watch him and stand before all of that evidence that they've amassed and say,
00:18:12.020 what are you talking about?
00:18:13.700 We have to proceed to one more delay.
00:18:17.700 It's immensely frustrating, I'm sure, to all of you, frankly.
00:18:21.940 We're talking with Congressman Matt Rosendale.
00:18:24.340 We're going to continue our conversation right after these words.
00:18:27.620 Stay with us.
00:18:34.180 We're back with Congressman Matt Rosendale.
00:18:36.340 And Congressman, I want to start with you endorse President Donald Trump.
00:18:41.780 Tell us about your decision.
00:18:43.060 So I've always been very supportive of President Trump.
00:18:46.900 He's come out to Montana and visited and supported me many times over.
00:18:50.820 And I was there when the electors were brought forward in 2020.
00:18:56.340 I saw enough credible evidence that there was fraud and voter problems in Arizona and Pennsylvania.
00:19:03.220 I voted against those electors when they brought those faulty charges against him in New York
00:19:09.940 with a zealot and a biased prosecutor.
00:19:16.180 I went down to Mar-a-Lago and I stood beside him then on indictment day.
00:19:21.300 I have signed up to join the resolutions in the House of Representatives to expunge anything
00:19:28.020 that they have tried to place upon his record.
00:19:30.980 And I certainly opposed the impeachment vote when it came before me.
00:19:36.340 I think that he did an incredible job when he was the president.
00:19:40.980 He did the best job that I have seen as far as putting our country's interests first,
00:19:47.380 whether it was trade agreements, whether it was employment, whether it was
00:19:50.340 bringing manufacturing back here to the country, whether it was building up our military and doing
00:19:55.860 it in a fashion that people were proud to join the military again instead of the weak numbers
00:20:02.020 that we have now for recruitment.
00:20:03.940 And I went down to Mar-a-Lago again this weekend.
00:20:06.740 And when I returned, I thought this is a good time to make my endorsement public.
00:20:12.900 Well, good for you and good for President Trump.
00:20:17.620 As we're looking at this continued persecution of President Trump, again, the Jack Smith,
00:20:25.220 the special counsel filing for expedited ruling by the Supreme Court on the extent of the immunity
00:20:33.700 afforded a president of the United States, an obvious effort to maintain the trial date,
00:20:41.060 March 4th, which is just the day before Super Tuesday.
00:20:45.860 This is an effort, it appears to me and to others, that is purely to create an accelerated basis
00:20:53.700 and to try to put the president in a disadvantaged position on March 4th.
00:21:02.980 Lou, this all has been an orchestrated attempt at election interference.
00:21:10.260 All of this has.
00:21:11.380 And any impartial judge, whether it be civilian or actually wearing a robe,
00:21:17.940 can look at it and see that was all put together.
00:21:21.540 Each one of these charges, each of the locations that they've been selected from,
00:21:26.980 has been set up to interfere with the election, both primary and general election of 2024,
00:21:34.100 to keep Donald J. Trump out of the White House once again, where they know that he will help us
00:21:41.860 expose the deep state and rid this country of the corruption that is taking place at the highest
00:21:49.940 levels. They also know that it's people like me that have been in their bucking leadership,
00:21:56.180 whether it's Kevin McCarthy, and certainly they don't want to see someone like me in the United
00:22:02.020 States Senate bucking Mitch McConnell because of all the power that the leadership has been able to
00:22:09.140 wield over their members. And they see that there's a few of us that are willing to buck that in the
00:22:15.300 interest of the country. And let's let's talk about your plans. Are you definitely running for
00:22:22.020 the U.S. Senate? You know, by the time we finish up with this Christmas break, Lou,
00:22:26.900 I will have been able to spend enough time with my family and back in the state of Montana having
00:22:32.100 conversations with the folks that I trust their opinion the most to be able to make a decision about
00:22:39.620 that. We still have plenty of time. You're not even eligible to register for an office in Montana until
00:22:46.980 January the 11th. And the deadline isn't until March 11th. So we still have plenty of time, but
00:22:53.540 we are going to be able to spend some quality time as a family during the holidays. And that'll give me
00:23:00.900 what I need. Well, Congressman, we appreciate it. And we wish you all the best of luck as you make that
00:23:06.420 consideration and eventual decision. Thanks so much for being with us. And Merry Christmas and
00:23:13.700 Happy Holidays, Congressman Matt Rosendale. Thanks for being with us. Merry Christmas to you. God bless
00:23:19.620 you, Lou. Thank you. Thanks, everybody, for being with us here today. Our guest here tomorrow on The
00:23:24.020 Great America Show is Cornell Law Professor William Jacobson. We'll be talking about anti-Semitism that seems
00:23:30.820 to be raging across America's campuses of colleges and universities. And what in the world are we going
00:23:37.700 to do about it? That's tomorrow. Please join us and join us each and every day on The Great America Show.
00:23:43.780 And thank you for being with us today. God bless you. And may God bless America.
