00:00:00.000 Hello, everybody. I'm John Fawcett with this Great America Show midday update for Sunday, April 26th.
00:00:04.780 Happy Sunday, folks. Well, it was an eventful night last night over in Washington, D.C.
00:00:10.060 for the annual White House Correspondents Association dinner where President Trump was expected to speak.
00:00:16.120 But just shortly before he was getting up there to speak, a man decided to breach the perimeter outside,
00:00:23.740 firing multiple shots at a Secret Service agent in an attempt to get into the ballroom where President Trump was at.
00:00:30.000 The suspected shooter at the White House Correspondence Center has been identified as now 31-year-old Cole Thomas Allen of Terrance, California.
00:00:37.940 Allen is in custody despite initial reports that he was fatally shot and was taken alive after Secret Service agents neutralized him in the lobby area near the security screening.
00:00:47.240 Acting Attorney General Todd Blanche had this to say this morning about the suspect who appears to not be cooperating with the authorities.
00:00:56.000 Is he talking to law enforcement, or is this information that you got through other means?
00:01:03.420 It's information we primarily got from other means.
00:01:06.400 So we've already started talking to folks who knew him.
00:01:09.880 We've already started going through the evidence that we collected.
00:01:13.240 It's been 12 hours, so this is not something that is over.
00:01:17.020 It's just starting, but that's where we are this morning.
00:01:19.840 Is he talking?
00:01:21.700 No.
00:01:22.180 I mean, he's not, I expect he'll be charged tomorrow morning in federal court with two counts in a complaint.
00:01:27.720 We are not viewing him as cooperating necessarily right now, although we'll see what happens going forward.
00:01:34.420 But as of now, he is, I expect he's a defendant and he will be charged tomorrow morning with two counts,
00:01:41.780 assault of a federal officer and using a firearm during a crime of violence, which is an underlying assault.
00:01:47.360 Whether there will be more charges when he's indicted in the coming days and weeks is left to be seen,
00:01:53.540 depending on what we learned from the evidence that we gathered last night
00:01:57.760 and that we'll continue to gather over the next couple days and weeks.
00:02:01.640 And there you have it, folks, another deranged Marxist Dan,
00:02:05.860 who probably had been planning this for months, if not years, and people around him knew about it.
00:02:10.700 Now, this fellow, Cole Anthony, allegedly mocked the, quote,
00:02:14.860 incompetence of secret service in a manifesto that was sent to family members 10 minutes before the
00:02:19.760 attack according to reports by the new york post in addition to president trump the washington 0.99
00:02:25.420 hilton ballroom of course was filled with many high-ranking officials the first lady to the
00:02:29.900 vice president to the speaker of the house to secretary of state secretary of war attorney
00:02:34.740 general todd blanche fbi director cash patel and dni tulsi gabbard along with the many other
00:02:40.600 high-ranking officials. President Trump had some words to say last night about the shooter. Take
00:02:46.300 a listen. The man has been captured. They're going to his apartment. I guess he lives in
00:02:53.040 California. And he's a sick person, a very sick person. And we don't want things like this to 1.00
00:02:59.280 happen. I think it's very important that I say, though, and I told the representatives of the
00:03:03.880 evening, they did such a beautiful job with such a beautiful evening. And again, they're talking
00:03:08.360 about free speech in our constitution that's what it's all about not just uh white house
00:03:13.480 correspondence it's really it was really based on free speech in our constitution but i said
00:03:18.740 very importantly that we'll do it again within the next 30 days and we'll make it bigger and better
00:03:25.360 and even nicer so i just want to thank everybody that was involved i also want to thank the press
00:03:31.660 the media uh you've been very responsible in your coverage i will say i've been seeing what's been
00:03:36.820 out you've been very responsible president trump sitting down for some interviews this morning
00:03:42.200 uh talking about the need for that white house ballroom which the trump deranged marxist leftists
00:03:47.480 have done everything to stop even though it's not being funded by the federal government take a
00:03:52.820 listen to president trump well it's always tough when you have a thousand rooms it's a large hotel
00:03:57.660 right on top and so people come down in elevators and they're right over the top of where you're
00:04:02.060 speaking not very far away and it's pretty tough and you know as you know we're building a big
00:04:08.720 beautiful very very secure ballroom in every way with massive bulletproof glass it's almost four
00:04:15.140 inches thick it's pretty amazing stuff and all of the different elements that you need like drone
00:04:20.820 proof you know you need drone proofing you need everything but we also need a location and the
00:04:26.040 Locations on the White House grounds, which is the most secure ground probably in the world, including the fencing, including everything else.
00:04:34.280 The president doesn't have to leave the premises.
00:04:36.720 It's really very secure.
00:04:38.220 And this is mostly for future presidents.
00:04:40.320 And we're actually ahead of schedule.
00:04:42.820 And we're right on budget and ahead of schedule.
00:04:45.400 It was always scheduled to open in 28.
00:04:48.180 And probably I would have five or six months of use.
00:04:52.440 site, but other people will have many years, hopefully hundreds of years of use, but it's
00:04:57.160 going to be a magnificent building.
00:04:58.700 But it was also designed in conjunction with the military and in conjunction with Secret
00:05:04.540 Service.
00:05:04.960 It's got every single bell and whistle you can possibly have for security and safety.
00:05:09.660 And we'll have that done very much on time, even ahead of schedule.
00:05:13.700 It's ahead of schedule now.
00:05:14.780 And it's really what you need.
00:05:17.460 I mean, you can't have a thousand rooms or whatever it is, a very big hotel on top of
00:05:21.140 the ballroom.
00:05:21.600 And people come down in the elevator, and they're right next to the ballroom.
00:05:25.600 And nobody's blaming them.
00:05:27.560 They're good people.
00:05:28.280 They're very good people.
00:05:29.080 I know the people well.
00:05:30.080 I've been in that room many times.
00:05:32.320 But, you know, it's had difficulty in the past.
00:05:36.460 And the new one is set not to have that kind of thing.
00:05:39.300 You know, all of the traps are knocked out.
00:05:42.060 And this was designed at the highest level by the top military and Secret Service people.
00:05:47.920 It's a joint venture, really.
00:05:49.520 And, you know, presidents have wanted it for 150 years just because they wanted a big space.
00:05:54.920 But military and Secret Service have wanted it for many years, and I'm getting it built.
00:06:01.660 And the one good thing is that now everybody knows how badly needed it is.
00:06:05.940 Now, if only the Trump deranged Marxists can get it around their head to get the job done and stop playing games,
00:06:12.860 I think things would be far better off.
00:06:15.600 President Trump was asked about the Secret Service and the reaction time,
00:06:19.780 and if he believed that it was better this time around compared to Butler, Pennsylvania,
00:06:23.660 and some of the other instances they had, and he had this to say.
00:06:26.300 Mr. President, there's a lot.
00:06:29.420 You, as well as some of us who have covered Butler, experienced another horrific day two years ago.
00:06:35.880 Yeah.
00:06:37.000 What felt similar? 1.00
00:06:38.680 You know, you had the first lady with you today. 0.99
00:06:40.660 What felt different? 0.90
00:06:41.700 And you have another two-plus years in office.
00:06:44.640 Are you concerned about something like this happening again?
00:06:47.160 Well, I can't be concerned.
00:06:48.460 I can only get great people.
00:06:50.040 They did the job, in my opinion, a much better job than Butler.
00:06:54.120 Butler had one weak spot that we all know about.
00:06:56.860 Somebody should have been up there.
00:06:58.020 But even Butler, we had an hour sniper on our side within 4.2 seconds
00:07:06.040 from a distance of about 400 yards, one shot, and he was gone.
00:07:14.640 and if he didn't do it now you know he's david his name was david i say hello david every time
00:07:20.940 i see him david i like you very much david but think of that now if he doesn't hit him
00:07:26.340 and he hit him right between the eyes from 400 yards without any notice nobody knew he heard a
00:07:32.920 sound he looked over and there was actually a tree that was somewhat in his way you know the
00:07:37.620 very well and he aimed he fired and if he didn't do that beyond me you would have had a lot more
00:07:44.880 people killed we lost one great person and two people very badly hurt they're okay now
00:07:49.740 but uh no that was so in a sense you know they that was pretty amazing the job they did but
00:07:55.800 but uh but they did have that one weak spot as you know they should have had that covered
00:08:01.440 tonight they had everything covered very quickly and he was fast he was running full blast and
00:08:06.540 they got him uh before they got any further i was very far away you know he was he hadn't anywhere
00:08:12.320 close to breach the doors of the ballroom the ballroom was sealed and everybody in there that's
00:08:18.320 why once those doors opened they didn't want to do tonight if the doors weren't opened we could
00:08:22.940 have probably done it tonight but i think we're much better off rescheduling yeah please so there
00:08:27.500 you have it they'll uh reschedule the white house correspondence dinner and president trump uh will
00:08:32.180 give his remarks as uh he said last night he wanted to go back but the security service and
00:08:37.120 the security said it was a no-go folks please be sure to join us each and every night 6 p.m eastern
