Transcript

00:00:00.000 In development of the film, have you shown it to any young people yourself, and what was their reaction?
00:00:05.040 We've had very good reactions from young people, and for older mothers with young children.
00:00:12.240 Mothers love to bring children to see this movie, and they get a very positive reaction.
00:00:17.740 Children love the movie.
00:00:21.320 Finding films to watch these days can be extremely difficult, and now with most of us at home,
00:00:26.380 that's one of the things we look forward to, finding a good film, especially for the kids as they're wanting to watch something.
00:00:32.040 Doing that is extremely difficult, but we have been given a gift.
00:00:36.180 There's a gift, in fact you might say a miracle, in a new film that's out by a producer who, believe it or not,
00:00:44.000 is a World War II veteran and 98 years of age.
00:00:48.500 You're going to want to stay tuned for this one.
00:00:56.380 Larry Jaffe, welcome to the program.
00:01:11.940 Hi John, pleased to meet you.
00:01:14.200 Let's begin as we always do with the sign of the cross.
00:01:16.860 In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost. Amen.
00:01:21.360 Let's get this straight. You are 98 years of age.
00:01:25.220 That is correct.
00:01:26.900 That's amazing. Okay, so, what is your film, and what's the inspiration behind the film?
00:01:33.960 The original script was written by the grandfather of a young lady who had a terrible heart condition
00:01:40.560 that the doctor said was not curable, and she only had her three months to live.
00:01:46.760 Family prayed. My partner, who's a script writer, prayed.
00:01:51.240 And miracle of all miracles, she recovered without any medical help.
00:01:58.760 And my partner promised God that if God saved her life, which he did, that he would write a movie about it.
00:02:08.200 And so he did, and we took it, and then we had Rich Corral, who was a marvelous writer, director, and producer,
00:02:19.520 actually took a good plot and brought it alive.
00:02:24.140 And we ended up with this movie called The Girl Who Believes in Miracles.
00:02:29.840 Awesome. Awesome. Awesome. So, this is sort of partially based on a true story, is it, then?
00:02:36.100 It's all fiction, actually. A fulfillment of a promise. That was a true story.
00:02:42.940 But the actual plot itself is fiction.
00:02:46.580 Beautiful. We're just going to play a little clip,
00:02:49.020 which basically demonstrates the power of this film in inculcating,
00:02:57.480 or in terms of inspiring faith in people, young people as well.
00:03:02.520 Let's have a look.
00:03:06.360 Is Sarah Hopkins a miracle worker?
00:03:09.040 It's about to turn her world upside down.
00:03:12.760 I don't think I can take this much excitement.
00:03:15.000 Yeah, and hold on to your hat. There's going to be a lot more of it.
00:03:19.020 Dad, I think these people want to see Sarah.
00:03:32.100 Thank you.
00:03:32.960 I know that I was seeing God.
00:03:34.940 Everything Sarah told us was true.
00:03:36.920 I'm just a lucky girl who God decided to build.
00:03:42.020 The truth is, all you have to do is believe in God and pray to Him.
00:03:46.740 He's listening.
00:03:47.320 This one is just sweeter than chocolate.
00:03:58.000 Truly beautiful, what you've done with this film, Larry.
00:04:02.280 Now, it's very, very moving.
00:04:05.820 Let me ask you a little bit about your own faith life,
00:04:08.920 because obviously this kind of film comes from a place of faith.
00:04:12.740 If you would, tell us a little bit about your own journey.
00:04:16.200 I'm a person of faith.
00:04:18.160 Surprisingly, I'm Jewish, and I got involved with a Christian-oriented film,
00:04:23.480 because there is so much in the Christian religion that comes from the Jewish religion.
00:04:30.820 Let me tell you about the various messages that this film delivers and show you how it's Christian and Jewish at the same time.
00:04:40.040 It delivers a message about miracles.
00:04:43.600 Christians, and we Jews believe in the miracle of the creation of this world in six days with a seventh day for rest.
00:04:54.620 Christians, you know, Christians, you know, Christians believe in the miracle of Jesus Christ and his restoration.
00:05:00.440 It's about redemption.
00:05:04.980 Redemption is so critical for many, many religions.
00:05:09.180 You know, people do wander from the path, and they're coming back to the path.
00:05:14.580 It's so, so critical, and we find that in this film, we set up an individual who we all hate initially.
00:05:25.360 He's an antagonist.
00:05:26.900 He cheats in a soccer game.
00:05:29.240 He is a bully.
00:05:31.000 And then a wonderful thing happens.
00:05:35.620 His life is saved after bullying the individual who saves him.
00:05:41.180 And the person who saves him is Danny, that's Sarah.
00:05:46.180 Sarah is a girl who believes in miracles.
00:05:49.800 He's Sarah's brother.
00:05:52.300 And without hesitation, even after this soccer cheat just bullied him minutes before,
00:06:00.720 Danny sees a vehicle heading to kill his bully.
00:06:05.500 And without hesitating, he risks his own life, goes in front of the vehicles, and pushes the bully out of the way.
00:06:15.060 That's a beautiful presentation of showing the other cheek, which is such a famous Jesus saying.
00:06:24.800 And it is so critical, from my point of view, even the fact that little Sarah brings the dog back to life.
00:06:39.220 This is a dog who she met when he growled at her and scared her.
00:06:44.220 But that didn't stop her from doing something very positive with that dog.
00:06:48.140 This is all showing the other cheek.
00:06:51.940 And it's so very important for all of us to recognize that there's the spark of God in every one of us,
00:07:01.400 even people who come to us across as being not so good.
00:07:07.760 And it pays for us to recognize that and to help them as well as others.
00:07:14.240 A beautiful portrayal of a faithful little girl, which has so often been used.
00:07:21.200 In fact, there's some allusion, seems to me anyway, in the film of Fatima and what happened there with Miracles.
00:07:30.320 Just beautiful stuff to inspire with a lot of different vignettes, like you said, promoting different virtues,
00:07:37.060 which is just really great, especially for young people.
00:07:39.640 I found this one particularly good for young people.
00:07:45.300 In development of the film, have you shown it to any young people yourself?
00:07:49.400 And what was their reaction?
00:07:50.980 We've had very good reaction from young people.
00:07:53.820 And for older mothers with young children, mothers love to bring children to see this movie.
00:08:00.900 And they get a very positive reaction.
00:08:03.640 Children love the movie.
00:08:04.860 Absolutely.
00:08:05.800 And this is, it's not only family friendly, but it's friendly for your little ones.
00:08:11.240 It's really good.
00:08:12.540 It has these life lessons in it.
00:08:14.220 Anything else, Larry, that you'd like to tell us about the film or about your journey to it?
00:08:19.580 I frankly would not be talking to you today for a miracle that occurred in my life.
00:08:25.220 I was in the Marine Corps, World War II.
00:08:28.460 And when I was in Olsen's training in Quantico, Virginia, which is a suburb of Washington,
00:08:35.880 President Roosevelt died.
00:08:37.860 I was in the senior class and they pulled us out and we participated in the ceremony that
00:08:43.520 occurred in Washington, D.C.
00:08:46.040 When that was over, our master sergeant said, okay, guys, you're going in this train, we're
00:08:51.080 going up.
00:08:52.780 President Roosevelt is going to be buried in his estate.
00:08:56.600 We had to try to sleep in a passenger train, sitting up.
00:09:02.700 And the following morning, that same sergeant said, okay, we're in this station.
00:09:08.320 You can go out and wash up.
00:09:10.260 Now, I hardly slept that night in my sleepy state.
00:09:14.660 I got out on the wrong side and I was walking up the track when something came along and
00:09:20.540 lifted me up, put me on the station platform.
00:09:24.040 Seconds later, the express train came zooming through that train track that I was walking
00:09:29.600 on.
00:09:30.180 My father, a very kind, gentle man, died just a few months before.
00:09:35.620 I feel he was the angel that saved my life.
00:09:38.060 And he actually did some very, very interesting things during my career in the Marine Corps that
00:09:46.220 helped me a lot.
00:09:47.800 I now have facts behind my faith.
00:09:52.820 Up to the point of that miracle, I believed in God, but it was based on faith.
00:09:58.860 Now it's based on a fact.
00:10:00.680 It happened to me.
00:10:01.700 It's an incredible thing when you're touched by God.
00:10:04.320 And it's portrayed very, very well here.
00:10:09.040 So just awesome work.
00:10:11.260 And thank you for making something that for many of us is a breath of fresh air.
00:10:15.520 We can still go to the theater or at least watch it from home for those of us who can't
00:10:20.180 get there and enjoy something for the whole family.
00:10:23.780 Larry, thank you for what you've done and for your service to the country.
00:10:26.800 Thank you.
00:10:27.340 I'd like to just make one more point.
00:10:28.980 You know what Rotten Tomatoes does, you know, it questions people after they see a movie.
00:10:34.180 We have a 93% Rotten Tomatoes rating and a 4.6 out of 5 score, average score.
00:10:44.420 People love this movie.
00:10:46.340 Absolutely, they would.
00:10:47.640 It's great.
00:10:49.140 Thank you very much, Larry.
00:10:50.440 God bless you.
00:10:51.880 God bless you, John.
00:10:53.220 Good work.
00:10:54.120 Thank you.
00:10:54.800 And God bless all of you.
00:10:56.220 We'll see you next time.
00:10:58.980 Hi, this is John Henry Weston, the co-founder and editor-in-chief of LifeSite News.
00:11:03.660 I'm coming to you today because we want to be sure that we're communicating clearly with
00:11:09.640 you, our loyal followers.
00:11:11.360 Things are really heating up, as I'm sure you can see.
00:11:15.140 Christians, conservative truth-tellers are being targeted, are being banned from social
00:11:20.660 media platforms like Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, and Instagram at an alarmingly fast rate.
00:11:26.900 They are attempting to suppress any narrative that does not fit that of the mainstream media.
00:11:32.860 We knew this day would come.
00:11:35.340 We have been warning everyone who would listen and attempting to build up alternative platforms
00:11:40.680 to continue to reach you.
00:11:43.340 We have established ourselves on all sorts of platforms I'm going to explain in a minute,
00:11:47.340 but the most important thing to do is come direct to LifeSiteNews.com because there we
00:11:53.620 will always be.
00:11:54.980 But we've also established ourselves on platforms like Parler and MeWe, and our videos can be
00:12:00.540 found on Rumble as well.
00:12:02.480 We would love to see each of you on those platforms too, as they are not censoring or
00:12:07.720 suppressing the truth that we are sharing every single day.
00:12:10.860 More than these alternative social media platforms, we highly encourage you to subscribe to our
00:12:17.100 email newsletter.
00:12:18.300 We have really built up a large list of loyal readers on our email marketing platform, and
00:12:24.200 we have prepared several backup plans for, well, I want to say if, but it's really when,
00:12:30.420 we are removed from our current platform as well.
00:12:33.140 Additionally, I really encourage you, as I said before, to make it a regular habit to
00:12:39.140 go directly to LifeSiteNews.com.
00:12:41.380 Make it your homepage.
00:12:43.420 While all of these different platforms are an excellent way to curate your news, going
00:12:48.800 directly to our website means that you will never encounter any censorship or sudden loss
00:12:54.340 of LifeSiteNews reporting.
00:12:56.000 Here's the thing.
00:12:57.440 We will never stop sharing the truth.
00:13:00.340 We founded this organization with the mission to be the life, family, and culture source
00:13:06.000 for men and women who seek to know the truth.
00:13:09.460 We have established a track record of honest reports, and this will never stop, even with
00:13:15.980 censorship happening around the globe.
00:13:18.820 Again, I'm encouraging you to join us on Parler, MeWe, Rumble, and on our email list.
00:13:24.840 You can find all the direct links in the description of this video.
00:13:29.460 May God bless you and keep you, and we are so thankful that you've chosen to follow and
00:13:34.500 support LifeSiteNews.
00:13:36.560 I'm John Henry Weston, co-founder and editor-in-chief of LifeSiteNews.
