00:00:00.000 After the audience with Pope Francis, Nancy Pelosi received communion at a mass in St. Peter's over which Pope Francis presided, causing scandal to Catholics all over the world.
00:00:12.340 And when asked about her illegal reception of Holy Communion, Pope Francis expressed no disapproval of it.
00:00:19.580 Instead, he responded by saying, quote, when the church loses its pastoral nature, when a bishop loses his pastoral nature, it causes a political problem.
00:00:32.080 That's all I can say, end quote.
00:00:35.420 There's very important breaking news for you here at LifeSite News.
00:00:38.360 On this special episode of the John Henry Weston Show, we're breaking the news that Tyler, Texas Bishop Joseph Strickland has joined with three other bishops to condemn the latest official document of Pope Francis
00:00:49.020 as containing heresy.
00:00:51.180 You're going to want to stay tuned for this one.
00:01:19.020 Before we begin, let me remind you that LifeSite has launched our fall fundraising drive.

00:01:34.500 Let's begin as we always do with the sign of the cross.
00:01:37.160 In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost. Amen.
00:01:41.740 So, Bishop Joseph Strickland of Tyler, Texas, has joined with Auxiliary Bishops Athanasius Schneider of Kazakhstan, that's where the Pope was just visiting,
00:01:52.340 as well as Auxiliary Bishop Robert Musterts from the Netherlands.
00:01:56.640 They've all joined retired Texas Bishop René Grissida in pointing out that Pope Francis' recent apostolic exhortation called Desiderio Desideravi contains heresy.
00:02:08.740 It was released on the very day that Nancy Pelosi visited the Pope and scandalously received Holy Communion at a papal mass.
00:02:19.820 And guess what?
00:02:21.200 The document contains a heresy, and the heresy contains in it pertains to, well, you guessed it, to Holy Communion.
00:02:30.700 So, imagine this.
00:02:34.040 On the very day that the most extreme pro-abortion-promoting politician in the United States visits Pope Francis and scandalously receives Holy Communion at a papal mass, no less,
00:02:47.860 Pope Francis releases a document concerning Holy Communion,
00:02:51.880 which teaches falsely that the only thing that is required to receive Holy Communion is faith.
00:03:00.440 I'll quote it for you.
00:03:01.960 In Desiderio Desideravi, issued on June 29th, Pope Francis writes, and I quote,
00:03:07.800 Everyone is invited to the supper of the wedding of the Lamb, and it continues,
00:03:16.040 To be admitted to the feast, and he's talking about Holy Communion, look at the document in context,
00:03:21.960 To be admitted to the feast, all that is required is the wedding garment of faith which comes from the hearing of his word, end quote.
00:03:30.900 In addition to the four bishops, many priests and scholars have signed on to the document as well,
00:03:37.220 and these bishops, priests, and scholars point out that Pope Francis' statement directly contravenes the documents of the Council of Trent,
00:03:47.680 which condemns what Pope Francis says in his apostolic letter as, and I quote, heresy.
00:03:53.140 If you read Canon 11 of the Council of Trent, it says this, and I quote,
00:03:58.020 If anyone says that faith alone is sufficient preparation for receiving the sacrament of the Most Holy Eucharist,
00:04:06.360 let him be anathema.
00:04:08.420 Anathema means excommunicated.
00:04:11.180 So, you've got to check out the whole document for yourself at lifesitenews.com,
00:04:16.400 beautifully written document from the four bishops, from many priests, and also from some laity as well, some scholars.
00:04:22.300 But get this, the very insightful analysis that you can read over at LifeSite News on this document,
00:04:30.660 it's done by Dr. Micah Hickson, and she points out that in this new statement by the Pope,
00:04:37.460 Desiderio Desideravi, Pope Francis, there's actually like a linchpin of Pope Francis' entire papacy.
00:04:46.160 Pope Francis writes on faith being the only condition to receive Holy Communion.
00:04:51.380 It's sort of a summary statement of an entire pontificate.
00:05:16.160 Or monthly donation at give.lifesitenews.com.
00:05:20.000 And now, back to the video.
00:05:23.820 Dr. Hickson points out, and I'll quote it for you,
00:05:26.400 Early on, from 2014 on, he promoted the idea of giving Holy Communion to unrepentant, remarried divorcees.
00:05:36.320 Then, he opened up the idea of Protestants following on their own conscience to receive Holy Communion.
00:05:42.840 In addition, the Pope has been encouraging pro-abortion Catholics to receive Holy Communion
00:05:48.560 and even called pro-LGBT advocate Fr. James Martin, of course a Jesuit, as a Vatican consulter.
00:05:58.220 And in all of these cases, the Pope allows Catholics to receive Holy Communion
00:06:02.720 who are objectively violating the Church's laws and teachings, thus promoting moral relativism, end quote.
00:06:11.760 So, really, that's a brilliant summation, and really just a very insightful idea of what's happening here with this document.
00:06:22.040 It does seem to be a linchpin, really, in the Pope's entire pontificate,
00:06:26.800 all about fighting the idea of the proper, worthy reception of Holy Communion,
00:06:31.900 which was such a big part of the papacies of both Pope John Paul II and Pope Benedict.
00:06:37.160 But, let's get back to the document itself, the bishop's document, I mean, and let's read from it.
00:06:45.840 But for the whole thing, of course, go to LifeSiteNews.com.
00:06:49.140 However, I want to read you these passages.
00:06:50.980 The grounds for this measure were her consistent political support
00:07:04.980 to receive Holy Communion under Canon 915 by her ordinary Archbishop Salvatore Corleone.
00:07:12.200 The grounds for this measure were her consistent political support for the complete legalization of abortion up to birth.
00:07:22.020 After the audience with Pope Francis, Nancy Pelosi received communion at a mass in St. Peter's,
00:07:27.840 over which Pope Francis presided, causing scandal to Catholics all over the world.
00:07:33.980 And when asked about her illegal reception of Holy Communion,
00:07:37.720 Pope Francis expressed no disapproval of it.
00:07:41.540 Instead, he responded by saying,
00:07:44.600 quote,
00:07:44.900 And this response rebukes Archbishop Corleone for his justified application of Canon 915, end quote.
00:08:02.520 That whole thing is right in the bishop's letter.
00:08:06.380 And that's why this is so explosive.
00:08:08.100 This is undoubtedly the most important correction by bishops of Pope Francis in his entire scandal-ridden pontificate.
00:08:19.640 It calls him out for heresy and urges Catholics to reject this teaching of Pope Francis.
00:08:27.160 The document, that is the bishop's document, notes that the Council of Trent's teachings are infallible,
00:08:34.440 while Pope Francis' apostolic letter is not.
00:08:38.100 They say this, and I quote,
00:08:40.120 No Catholic can believe or act upon a papal pronouncement if it contradicts the divinely revealed Catholic faith, end quote.
00:08:51.400 So, the signatory bishops urge all bishops and priests of the Church to hold to the true teaching of the Church
00:09:01.200 on the matter of reception of Holy Communion,
00:09:03.640 Namely, that, quote,
00:09:05.660 Faith alone is not a sufficient preparation for receiving the sacrament of the Most Holy Eucharist, end quote.
00:09:13.600 So, please do go check out the whole statement at lifesitenews.com,
00:09:18.760 And let's pray in thanksgiving, and especially pray for bishops Joseph Strickland, Rene Henry Grisida, Robert Musterts, and Athanasius Schneider.
00:09:31.320 They are upholding the true faith in the most difficult circumstances,
00:09:36.540 and hopefully other bishops will step up and stand with Christ.
