The John-Henry Westen Show - Engaging Satan in Spiritual Warfare ｜ Exorcist Assistant Dr. Dan Schneider

00:00:00.000 You know, and I've been in sessions where the demon will call out and say,

00:00:03.980 hey, nobody in this room is fasting.

00:00:05.880 You guys aren't fasting. I'm not going anywhere.

00:00:08.180 Or there's lust. Somebody in this room is dealing with lust.

00:00:10.520 I'm not going to say who it is.

00:00:12.320 So you learn to really grind out the spiritual life, fasting, weekly confession.

00:00:20.040 It's very, very critical because those stories do happen on occasion.

00:00:30.000 Hey there, my friends.

00:00:32.620 I had a fascinating interview with one of the guys who helps out at exorcisms.

00:00:37.300 You know, they get people when they're having an exorcism to hold down the victim of possession

00:00:43.240 so that the priest can pray the exorcism prayers and stuff like that.

00:00:47.040 But what a fascinating experience that would be to be in the room when all sorts of weird stuff happens.

00:00:51.980 People we know levitate, things fly across the room, it gets really cold.

00:00:55.860 All sorts of weird stuff.

00:00:57.300 Talking to this person who participates in this way was truly fascinating.

00:01:02.600 He's a Gulf War veteran.

00:01:04.740 He's a former boxer.

00:01:06.620 In the army, he flew helicopters.

00:01:10.220 Fascinating guy and really tough guy.

00:01:12.520 His name is Dr. Dan Schneider.

00:01:13.980 He's an adjunct professor of theology at the Franciscan University of Steubenville.

00:01:19.540 You know, his book is called The Liber Cristo Method,

00:01:24.400 a field manual for spiritual combat.

00:01:27.300 And it makes a lot of sense.

00:01:28.780 You're going to really enjoy this interview.

00:01:30.340 One of the things that I like the most, actually,

00:01:32.180 is it answers the question about why do we need to pray specifically for this, for things?

00:01:39.340 God knows everything.

00:01:40.640 He knows exactly what we need.

00:01:42.380 Why do we have to ask specifically for little things?

00:01:46.000 Why?

00:01:46.800 Well, that's going to be answered right now on The John Henry Weston Show.

00:01:50.600 Stay tuned.

00:01:53.260 Take a look at this.

00:01:54.140 This is Cardinal Burke talking in 2017 about demonic forces entering the church at that time in 2017.

00:02:01.880 Hard to believe that's so long ago.

00:02:03.200 This was given at Rome Life Forum, a conference that LifeSite has been running since 2014, actually.

00:02:09.700 Do you know that we're running another one this year, October 31st and November 1st?

00:02:14.660 That is right at the end of this horrific synod on synodality.

00:02:20.220 October 31st, November 1st, 2023.

00:02:23.040 Come join us in Rome.

00:02:24.380 Go to RomeLifeForum.com for more information.

00:02:28.360 Watch Cardinal Burke give this snippet on demonic forces entering into the Vatican

00:02:33.580 from his talk at Rome Life Forum in 2017.

00:02:38.800 It seems clear from the most respected studies of the apparitions of Our Lady of Fatima

00:02:43.900 that it has to do with the diabolical forces unleashed upon the world in our time

00:02:50.300 and entering into the very life of the church.

00:02:53.440 For the recovery of peace will be a gift from heaven.

00:02:57.080 But it is not, properly speaking, the triumph of the Immaculate Heart of Mary.

00:03:03.120 Her victory is of another order, supernatural, and then temporal by addition.

00:03:09.320 It will first be the victory of the faith, which will put an end to the time of apostasy 0.95

00:03:17.300 and the great shortcomings of the church's pastors.

00:03:22.740 Professor Dan Schneider, welcome to the program.

00:03:24.380 Thank you, John Henry.

00:03:26.700 I sure appreciate you having me on.

00:03:28.760 Let's begin as you always do, with the sign of the cross. 0.56

00:03:31.760 In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost.

00:03:36.640 Amen.

00:03:38.340 So, very interesting.

00:03:40.400 A book.

00:03:41.520 Now, you're a layman, is that not correct?

00:03:43.700 Yes.

00:03:44.100 So, you've written a book as a layman on exorcism and the whole spiritual combat.

00:03:54.440 First of all, the book, as we said in the intro, is called the Liber Christo Method,

00:03:58.800 a field manual for spiritual combat.

00:04:01.540 Maybe you can start there.

00:04:03.200 Tell us a little bit about yourself and what that is all about.

00:04:06.380 What does it even mean to have, what is a Liber Christo method?

00:04:10.020 Yeah, the Liber Christo is kind of a crassus of Latin that's kind of a catch-all, the way it was set up.

00:04:16.260 It means the free man in Christ, you know, finding your freedom in, through, by, with Jesus Christ.

00:04:24.460 So, it has to do with how we find liberation through Christ.

00:04:29.320 So, it gears us towards Jesus Christ.

00:04:31.820 And I think that's one of the points of the whole system, is focusing on Christ,

00:04:36.240 and not on what the devil is doing, but let's focus on what Christ is doing with the soul.

00:04:39.780 My own background, I'm originally from Ohio.

00:04:43.960 I grew up Catholic schools my whole life.

00:04:46.580 I went into the military, went to my undergraduate at the University of Notre Dame,

00:04:49.580 the U.S. military, paid for that, the U.S. Army.

00:04:51.920 I went into, I was a helicopter pilot.

00:04:55.040 I flew Hueys and Cobra helicopters in Desert Storm.

00:04:59.280 And for the last 10 years, eight years, I've been working with Father Ripperger,

00:05:05.640 as well as a local team, working with cases of diabolic affliction.

00:05:09.840 And the Liber Christo protocol is something developed by Father Ripperger and his right-hand assistant.

00:05:15.760 And we rolled it out here very, you know, in the early years.

00:05:20.320 And it's a process that took time to develop on how to handle cases of diabolic affliction,

00:05:27.840 how to put some objectivity to an otherwise subjective area.

00:05:34.800 At the same time I was working in this, I had a priest that was asked by a previous bishop to start an exorcism team in our diocese.

00:05:44.060 He asked me, he said, look, you're a combat veteran.

00:05:46.000 Would you be interested in this?

00:05:46.840 You've got good formation.

00:05:48.320 And I said, sure, I'll go hear you out.

00:05:50.440 I'll go listen to what the guy has to say.

00:05:51.820 But I had just started my doctoral research at the time.

00:05:56.560 And then after that first experience, I realized that this is not scary.

00:06:01.340 It's beautiful in many ways.

00:06:03.000 It can be scary.

00:06:04.120 But I began to see this as just an extension, a natural extension of what the church should be doing,

00:06:11.780 helping the most afflicted of the afflicted.

00:06:13.660 So I would do my background as biblical studies.

00:06:17.600 And so I would do this highly rationalistic biblical research in the morning, working on a doctoral thesis.

00:06:22.860 And then in the afternoons and evenings, I would be doing case management, assisting, lay assisting with cases, etc.,

00:06:30.500 which could be very subjective.

00:06:32.380 And so with the Libra Cristo Protocol established by Father Ripperger,

00:06:36.820 this brings back the field of exorcism and deliverance back into Catholic norms.

00:06:43.900 And that's what this book tries to do, is bring some norms.

00:06:46.620 This is not a book about, you know, what's the devil did and what the devil did here.

00:06:50.120 And this is not that.

00:06:51.440 This is a practical manual to help people, not just those with, you know, that come with diabolic affliction,

00:07:00.160 but anybody that wants to go deeper in their spiritual life and get closer to God and start to see,

00:07:05.380 well, what does the devil do and how do I overcome this or that?

00:07:09.600 I'm going to get into that in a minute.

00:07:11.320 But I did want to ask you about that because you're one of those folks that goes into an exorcism with the priest,

00:07:20.620 stands there, sometimes has to hold the victim, say prayers yourself, can be attacked by the demon yourself.

00:07:28.520 If you can, tell us about one of those experiences, perhaps one that, you know, your first one or something like that,

00:07:35.860 because that sounds really remarkable to experience and witness.

00:07:42.740 And it overcomes what might be an initial doubt because, you know, you think to yourself, well, what's possession really?

00:07:51.720 It's, you know, it's something, it's a spiritual thing.

00:07:54.060 And we've seen a lot of movies about all this stuff that happens, but nah, who really believes that?

00:08:00.380 What's it been like for you?

00:08:02.120 Yeah, it's, you know, sometimes you focus so much on the devil, you lose sight of what God is actually doing.

00:08:06.960 You know, just in a session not long ago, the really fascinating thing is what seeing the mystical body unfold before your eyes,

00:08:15.320 to see the weight, the auctoritas would be the Latin word of the church,

00:08:18.800 the weight of the church through an extension of the sacramental system,

00:08:23.080 exorcism is a sacramental, an extension of the office of the munus regendi,

00:08:29.380 the ruling office of the church, to see that at play is incredible.

00:08:33.580 But you do see some pretty interesting things.

00:08:36.960 Recently, there was a case where the, it was a difficult case, and the exorcist is praying the litany of Loretto

00:08:49.920 and invoking the Virgin Mary, the Virgin Mary commands you, etc.

00:08:53.780 And the demon responds, oh, her, every time you call her, she comes, she wraps her mantle,

00:09:01.060 I hate her mantle, she wraps it around you and protects you.

00:09:03.920 And just reinforces what we know in the census, fidei, that we know that the Blessed Mother comes when we're invoked.

00:09:11.140 I've had other sessions where I'll do a, again, I was a cavalry officer before I was a scholar.

00:09:15.600 And so I would give a, I'll give a cavalry scout report.

00:09:19.880 Father, this is what we're dealing with.

00:09:21.080 This is a dossier.

00:09:21.960 This is the main player in this particular case.

00:09:25.200 This is one, this is probably going to come out.

00:09:27.300 This is his weaknesses.

00:09:28.200 This is their vulnerabilities.

00:09:29.640 And this is the, you know, I was doing some research for a second follow-up book.

00:09:34.100 And so I'm doing some research on this particular aspect of the devil, this particular title.

00:09:39.220 And during the set, and so only people that knew about it was me and father.

00:09:41.840 I gave him the research.

00:09:43.020 Father mispronounces the name and the demon corrects him and corrects my Hebrew during the session.

00:09:50.860 Looked at him, looks at me, corrects my Hebrew and goes back and focuses again on the priest.

00:09:55.120 Yeah, it was pretty fascinating.

00:09:58.260 You know, and I've, I've been in sessions where the, where the demon will call out and say, Hey, nobody in this room is fasting.

00:10:04.000 You guys aren't fasting.

00:10:05.200 I'm not going anywhere.

00:10:06.320 Or there's a lot.

00:10:07.400 Somebody in this room is dealing with lust.

00:10:08.760 I'm not going to say who it is.

00:10:10.560 So you learn, you learn to, to, to, to, to really grind out the spiritual life, fasting, weekly confession.

00:10:18.520 Very, very critical because that, that, that, those, those stories do happen on occasion.

00:10:23.380 So I guess that gives an answer to my next question, because there are a lot of people who believe, eh, you know, possession, okay, whatever.

00:10:35.000 It's not really, really real.

00:10:38.540 So your experience, seeing it, watching it firsthand, is, is it for you?

00:10:46.320 It's unquestionable.

00:10:47.320 This not only happens, there's total evidence of it being totally real.

00:10:51.820 Yeah, absolutely.

00:10:53.680 I mean, and part of the genius of the protocol of Father Ripperger is that it does bring some objectivity to it, but, but it's, it's hard to deny what your senses have seen.

00:11:02.820 Before we started the, the early, early on, we would do a more Roman model where the late, the late associates would, would hold, you know, and, and now we just, if the husband's present, the, the prayers of the laying of the hands of the husband is usually, if it's a woman, it's usually sufficient.

00:11:17.440 Or vice versa, because the authority of the husband over the wife, but one of the earlier cases, um, that really woke it up for me was, uh, I was in charge of the right arm, okay.

00:11:28.080 Or left arm, okay.

00:11:29.000 And so, and so I had learned about, you know, we're, you know, when we were training with Father Ripperger and his guys, it's, you know, St. Michael and the Blessed Mother, St. Michael and the Blessed Mother.

00:11:37.860 And so it was, it was that this particular case, it was taking a half a dozen or more men to hold this, this young lady down and it wasn't working.

00:11:46.580 And, and it was becoming disruptive.

00:11:48.680 Again, the protocol has eliminated a lot of that, but this is what we did.

00:11:52.920 And so I was holding the left arm and I said, uh, you know, I'm going to say my, I'm getting punched and scratched and trying to hit me, trying to hit the priest.

00:12:00.660 And my job is to protect the priest.

00:12:02.600 And so I, I said, St. Michael, please help me.

00:12:05.040 I'm praying quietly.

00:12:06.020 St. Michael, please.

00:12:07.460 I need help.

00:12:08.180 This is, this is, you know, it's not going well.

00:12:10.760 I'm in charge of the left arm.

00:12:12.300 Give me help.

00:12:13.180 Do this person, this child, subdue her left arm for me.

00:12:15.920 And as soon as I pray, and no one knows I'm praying.

00:12:17.900 The priest is praying.

00:12:18.520 I'm just quietly praying.

00:12:20.120 And the minute I prayed that prayer silently, only I knew the left arm completely locked.

00:12:27.040 I'm like, wow.

00:12:28.440 So, and then all of a sudden I start seeing this left, the arm is locked, but the wrist and hand are going.

00:12:34.880 So I said, St. Michael, do me a favor, subdue the wrist for me quietly.

00:12:40.780 I'm just praying this.

00:12:41.780 And all of a sudden the arms lock, the wrist locks.

00:12:44.280 I was like, oh, and then I get this.

00:12:48.720 And the fingers, I was like, you're kidding me.

00:12:52.360 I'm like, I'm a little slow on the uptake, but I get it.

00:12:55.900 St. Michael, subdue her left arm, her left wrist, her left hand, and her fingers. 0.98

00:13:01.060 And I was at the time, I was studying about the power of the mystical body, the intercession of St. Michael, the importance of specificity and prayer.

00:13:07.720 All of that was summed up in a 30-second exchange after getting punched and scratched.

00:13:13.940 And I realized I'm in way over my head.

00:13:16.220 I need help from the mystical body.

00:13:17.500 St. Michael, subdue her left arm, her left wrist, her left hand, and her fingers. 0.98

00:13:21.460 And from that point on, I just sat and just prayed quietly the rest of the time.

00:13:24.980 But that was – those are the little nuggets that you get.

00:13:27.120 But you start to see that, again, what the devil does, as Father Rupert says, it's quite boring and predictable in many ways.

00:13:35.260 What's most fascinating is to see the power of the church, the power of the mystical body, the power of the priesthood, the power of the invocation of the litany of saints, particularly the Virgin Mary, in combat.

00:13:46.520 This is what really deepens – this made my understanding – my ecclesiology has been radically purified through an existing priest in here.

00:13:56.680 Even holding up a picture of the bishop, any bishop, the bishop of that diocese, and the priest says, all right, hold that picture.

00:14:03.540 And the priest commands, I command you to look at the eyes of the Prince of the Apostles in this diocese to see a trembling, a bodily trembling from a demon just looking at the picture.

00:14:16.040 You can put your or my picture up there, and nobody would be afraid.

00:14:19.320 Nobody would react, right?

00:14:21.560 But if you put a picture of the bishop up there and his authority, and it's the office.

00:14:25.860 It isn't his merit.

00:14:27.180 It isn't – he may not be the nicest guy.

00:14:29.380 You may not get along with him.

00:14:30.360 You might not like his politics, but the demon recognizes the authority where it comes from.

00:14:34.540 These types of incidents have really purified my own understanding of the church and the beauty and glory of the church.

00:14:39.940 And I try not to get drawn into some of the negativity of the church because I see this just distracts us from the reality, how the demon sees the church and how the angels see the church, how the saints interact with us as the totus Christus, as St. Augustine calls us, the whole Christ, the head body members, the mystical body, the church militant, the church suffering, the church triumphant.

00:15:03.600 And how that comes to bear in this particular apostle, it's really fascinating for me intellectually as well experientially.

00:15:11.740 Wow.

00:15:12.140 So, I have to ask because it's confusing.

00:15:18.520 I've watched this play out in my own life too.

00:15:21.220 Why the specificity?

00:15:23.340 Like, God knows what we need, but he wants us to ask specifically, why is that?

00:15:29.780 And your example is so stunning on that.

00:15:32.840 That's what brought up.

00:15:34.200 You know, Pascal said that God instituted prayer to bestow upon man the dignity of being causes.

00:15:39.420 And so, he doesn't need us, but he invites us to participate.

00:15:44.760 This is St. Paul of Colossians 124.

00:15:46.960 I rejoice in my suffering for in my body I make up what's lacking in the suffering of Christ's body, which is the church. 0.95

00:15:52.840 So, he leaves his sight open.

00:15:55.480 If, as our Protestant friends say, it is finished, you Catholics are trying to work your way into heaven. 0.99

00:16:00.260 Well, how could it be finished if Paul says something's lacking?

00:16:02.920 And what's lacking is our participation in the subjective distribution of the graces of Calvary.

00:16:07.760 This is what's lacking.

00:16:09.420 According to St. Paul.

00:16:11.000 And so, our prayer and specificity is critical.

00:16:15.940 I can tell you as a gunship pilot, being specific.

00:16:20.340 If you want to hit that, you've got to keep on the target.

00:16:24.560 You have to hit the target.

00:16:26.700 You can hit close to the tank, but if you don't hit the tank, you're not going to kill the tank.

00:16:30.520 You might scare it.

00:16:31.120 You might knock dirt on it.

00:16:32.120 But you've got to be specific in where you hit that tank if you want to take the tank out.

00:16:36.480 So, specificity is critical in combat.

00:16:39.360 I mean, Jesus himself says, ask and you shall receive, right?

00:16:43.320 Prayer begets what it signifies.

00:16:45.400 The occultists and the Satanists know this.

00:16:47.640 They're very specific in their curses.

00:16:49.180 They're very specific in how they pray, how they pray in the inverse.

00:16:53.140 And so, specificity is absolutely critical.

00:16:55.600 It's part of our cooperation with the distribution of graces.

00:16:59.140 We have to be very specific without falling into scrupulosity.

00:17:03.240 What the demon wants to do is to drive us.

00:17:06.020 The demon only works in the objective, 100%.

00:17:08.500 He is bound very rigidly by the natural law under which he was created.

00:17:11.800 And so, he works in the objective, but he wants us to work in the subjective.

00:17:17.400 You know, God understands our heart.

00:17:19.000 God understands our intentions.

00:17:20.780 But when it comes to the specificity, this is where we defeat him by being specific.

00:17:26.880 So, part of the manual is teaching people to be specific in how they confess, being specific in the way they confess the sins, being specific in overcoming whatever defects that's allowing the enemy to manipulate you.

00:17:43.460 You know, if you can name it, you can tame it.

00:17:45.420 So, you have to identify the defects, identify the spirits behind the defects so that you can tame those.

00:17:49.840 But being specific is critical in combat.

00:17:51.460 And it goes back to, again, our own causality that God has given us as members of his body.

00:17:58.700 Amazing.

00:18:00.440 So, one of the things when discerning about possession or any of the range of possession, obsession, or whatever.

00:18:11.240 So, I'd like you to go through that a little bit, the range.

00:18:13.560 But also, how does that figure in when you're trying to calculate this physical illness or this mental disturbance or whatever?

00:18:22.200 Is there a demonic element to that?

00:18:24.600 Very much.

00:18:25.260 Again, I've worked under various models.

00:18:27.180 And this is why this is the only way I would do it.

00:18:29.380 Because this is the safest way.

00:18:31.660 And there's some objectivity.

00:18:34.460 You know, if somebody's dealing with mental illness, you can usher them away and pray for them all you want.

00:18:40.960 But if it's underlying mental illness until you deal with that, you know, there's usually one operant vector at work.

00:18:47.220 It's usually largely diabolic with some mental illness here or some problems, trauma, et cetera.

00:18:54.120 Or you're largely psychological.

00:18:58.440 And, you know, we perhaps unkindly say big drama, little demon, oftentimes.

00:19:04.800 And so, part of the phase one of the protocol is built in.

00:19:08.140 There's a built in.

00:19:09.820 This is why everybody does the exact same prayers before they get to the catechetical portion.

00:19:14.260 And there's a built in diagnostic to tell if this is psychological or not.

00:19:18.940 Because you just don't know.

00:19:20.560 And, you know, I've had, you know, recently I've had a case of a seminarian that, you know, they rushed in and started praying for him.

00:19:28.560 I said, well, you don't know.

00:19:29.580 What if it's psychological?

00:19:31.100 And so, you put him through the protocol and a pattern out of psychological.

00:19:33.580 He just needed to work on some elements of his, some defects in his psychology and some emotions that needed to be worked on.

00:19:41.280 I was, I gave a conference out of Paris not long ago.

00:19:44.060 And people waited two or three hours to ask questions because people are suffering so much.

00:19:47.700 This is very humbling because you see how much people are suffering.

00:19:50.240 And several came up and said, oh, Father so-and-so is the exorcist here.

00:19:53.240 And he prayed over me.

00:19:53.860 And I guess it's really bad because nothing happened.

00:19:56.460 I said, well, maybe nothing happened because it's psychological.

00:19:59.160 One lady whose husband was a physician, the wife had developed these shakes. 1.00

00:20:04.460 And she was, she's very religious.

00:20:05.820 She was very devout.

00:20:06.760 She was convinced that it's diabolic.

00:20:08.200 I said, does anyone else in your family have these shakes?

00:20:11.060 She said, yeah, my sister.

00:20:12.460 When did it start?

00:20:13.680 When she was 54.

00:20:15.720 How old are you?

00:20:16.740 I'm 54.

00:20:17.980 Are you taking any drugs?

00:20:20.200 Are you on any medications?

00:20:21.640 And then the doctor who's a physician, he starts nodding, like very, like smiling because he's been telling her,

00:20:27.620 honey, don't think this is, this doesn't have to be the devil.

00:20:31.020 We give him way too much credit.

00:20:32.540 And so she's taking these meds.

00:20:34.300 And then her mental health psychiatrist put her on heavy, heavy anti-psychotic meds.

00:20:41.420 And her neurologist put her on these meds. 0.89

00:20:45.340 And I said, doctor, could these meds be, could they be causing problems?

00:20:49.920 And could they create temporary psychosis?

00:20:51.900 He said, yes, they could.

00:20:52.880 I said, my recommendation is to exhaust the natural remedies first because you can become psychologically obsessed.

00:21:02.880 And it's just psychological.

00:21:04.460 But the danger is the psychological obsession can expose you to a spiritual oppression or higher.

00:21:10.420 It's that woundedness that projects into the cosmos.

00:21:13.540 I'm a wounded animal.

00:21:15.020 And that's what attracts sometimes.

00:21:16.520 Even though it started off as psychological, you develop a psychological obsession.

00:21:21.220 And in that woundedness, now the demon is going to work against that because he smells, he smells a wounded human.

00:21:28.560 It's like watching the Discovery Channel.

00:21:30.220 You've got a herd, a wildebeest.

00:21:33.040 And that lion could take out the biggest, baddest, toughest, most experienced alpha wildebeest.

00:21:38.840 But he doesn't go after him.

00:21:40.340 He doesn't go after the whole pack.

00:21:41.760 He goes after the wounded one that's straggling a little bit, that looks a little vulnerable.

00:21:45.280 So we project a certain vulnerability, and we have to work on the psychological as well.

00:21:49.940 If you ignore that, the demon is going to immediately show up and say, see, Jesus isn't strong enough for you.

00:21:56.000 Even the exorcist couldn't think, you might as well just quit now.

00:21:58.780 You might as well just give up.

00:22:00.140 So there's a real interplay that gets ignored in many models of exorcism that is embedded because of Father Ripperger's background and Timist's psychology.

00:22:07.600 It really addresses the psychological and deals with that as the human person, as the whole person.

00:22:15.000 So one of the things that is done or was done a lot was the sort of opposite approach of basically saying everything is a psychological disorder.

00:22:27.080 Possession, does it ever happen at all?

00:22:30.000 They won't say it, but probably not.

00:22:31.820 But just for argument's sake, well, we have to go through, you know, years and years and years of testing to make sure we've eliminated every possibility of psychological ailment before we even think about an exorcism.

00:22:44.820 Yeah.

00:22:45.380 So you see these extremes.

00:22:46.660 Recently I saw in the news, Catholic news.

00:22:48.900 I don't know if it was you guys.

00:22:50.140 I read your news every day, by the way.

00:22:51.540 I really appreciate LifeSite.

00:22:53.300 But there was a lady manifested at mass in Italy.

00:22:56.840 They rushed her out.

00:22:57.900 They took her to a chapel, and three priests prayed over her for nine hours.

00:23:01.460 That's one extreme.

00:23:02.760 The other extreme, you see some bishops.

00:23:04.560 One bishop told Father Ripperger, I believe the devil exists.

00:23:07.640 I just don't think he's in my diocese.

00:23:09.620 And so you have these two extremes that we don't believe in the devil, you know.

00:23:13.020 And so it has to be psychological.

00:23:15.200 And so there's a danger on both, on both of those instances.

00:23:18.420 So part of our protocol is working with the psychological and identifying actually those areas of trauma, those areas of psychological wounds, anything that's lingering, because those are areas of vulnerability.

00:23:31.920 So it isn't just defects and virtue and moral defects.

00:23:37.100 That needs to be addressed in the confessional.

00:23:39.440 But before we go to prayer, we have to get separation.

00:23:42.260 It's one of the stages of liberation is separation.

00:23:44.560 And so getting that psychological separation is very important for the lay team to work with.

00:23:52.000 And this is what my book does.

00:23:53.280 It helps you to identify psychologically areas that you've created that are creating a symbiotic attraction and a psychological compatibility, because those have to be worked through so that you can get the separation from requisite for liberation.

00:24:06.200 And so part of the protocol is built in, is identifying, yeah, this is psychological, you've got to work with it.

00:24:12.240 I've had cases that are like, my gosh, I mean, there's all sorts of witchcraft in this family.

00:24:18.540 They've got all these problems, and she's getting all these things.

00:24:24.280 And then at the end of the day, it's just psychological.

00:24:28.700 You're having a postpartum psychosis.

00:24:30.540 This is not the devil.

00:24:31.420 Other cases that I think, oh, whenever I say, oh, man, there's nothing there.

00:24:36.700 There's always something huge there.

00:24:38.540 You never know.

00:24:39.480 This is why we apply the same rigor to each person and to try to get some, again, objectivity and let the human side come out so we can start to see where this is.

00:24:51.740 We've had cases, you know, people that were, we had a guy that was one of the children of the 12 founding fathers, the 12, a quorum of 12 of Mormonism.

00:25:04.560 And a lot of those guys, they're all Freemasons.

00:25:07.100 And this thing looked like, man, it was just going to be this terrible case.

00:25:10.600 And there was nothing wrong.

00:25:11.820 He was, he just had mental health issues.

00:25:13.800 Other times, you come from a very good Catholic family.

00:25:16.520 There's nothing wrong.

00:25:17.260 They're in a state of grace.

00:25:18.200 They're doing great.

00:25:18.740 And this, something lights up, you know, so there's something in there that lights up and you just never know.

00:25:23.340 So having that objectivity is, is, is very, very critical.

00:25:26.660 And we don't dismiss either.

00:25:28.020 We don't, we don't, we don't, we don't rush one way or the other.

00:25:31.080 We give it time to let it see.

00:25:33.440 Let's see.

00:25:34.240 This is the delicacy, but the interaction between God and the soul.

00:25:38.180 I mean, this is, we're dealing with something very sacred.

00:25:40.040 And so we have to give it time and let them work through it.

00:25:42.460 Ultimately, God will deliver when, at that moment, when only, and not before, when, when that soul is ready.

00:25:49.580 And so we're just there to accompany and do our work to help them along the way.

00:25:53.460 But, but separating out those two is very critical.

00:25:55.480 So they can see, oh yeah.

00:25:57.440 When I was a pilot in Iraq, there was a frequency that we all communicated on.

00:26:02.220 You know, the AWACS, the Air Force, fast movers, the bombers, helicopters, ground control.

00:26:08.860 It was called guard and everybody communicated.

00:26:10.900 Nobody, it was emergency only.

00:26:12.980 And it was, it was important things that we had to know, but otherwise you monitor, but you didn't talk on it.

00:26:17.460 But everybody listened.

00:26:18.940 And so once in a while you'd hear a fast mover up there talking to the tower or this or that.

00:26:22.600 And so the guard, that guard frequency is kind of like the inner self.

00:26:25.620 We have to discern which is my own negative thoughts.

00:26:28.680 I talk on that channel to myself.

00:26:30.540 I talk to God on this channel.

00:26:31.820 God talks to me on this channel and the devil projects his temptations on this same channel.

00:26:37.700 So part of, when we're talking about separation, psychological separation is to go, ooh, yeah, that's not me.

00:26:43.640 That was a diabolic projection.

00:26:44.860 Or I better clean up that negative self-thought, that negative self-talk.

00:26:49.300 Or I need, you know, so that we have to clean up the frequency so you can discern clean from unclean thoughts.

00:26:55.040 This is very critical because they need that separation for liberation to come.

00:26:59.500 It's an amazing way to think about it.

00:27:03.080 A frequency channel, a radio frequency channel where we talk to God, God talks to us, and the devil can project.

00:27:10.460 That's fascinating.

00:27:12.360 So if you have a certain disposition, certain, you know, the devil looks for the mouse that blesses and curses.

00:27:21.540 And so, you know, so if he sees these inconsistencies in your behavior, in your speech, in your own, if you rebel against authority in your life, you haven't dealt with your father wound, so-called.

00:27:35.640 You have psychological behavior that's very attractive because he's got a father wound.

00:27:40.600 How could you have rejected me?

00:27:42.420 How could you have let me make this bad decision and be for eternity damned?

00:27:46.740 How could you, you know, if you rebel against authority, if you badmouth the church and you badmouth the hierarchy of the church and you commit, you know, slander, detraction, whatever.

00:27:56.160 You're doing the same, you have that same attitude towards the church as the devil does it.

00:28:01.060 So you got to be very careful and work on that detachment so you can start to see, oh, that's diabolic projection.

00:28:07.500 I'm not saying we're not, we don't continue to actually work to purify the church.

00:28:10.720 We do.

00:28:11.780 And we should, you know, but at the same time, you got to be very careful of that.

00:28:14.860 Indeed.

00:28:16.560 So a lot of folks from backgrounds that are in the military find a very much easier time in the spiritual life and are asked to do sometimes very difficult things like you were, partly because of your military background, because of the order that puts into your life.

00:28:41.720 It's, it's, it's, it's regimented.

00:28:43.880 There's a very, like you, you make your beds, you polish your shoes in, in, in a way that most people don't.

00:28:50.240 That order has an effect for the good, both in our daily lives, in your home, let's say, but also in, in prayer life.

00:28:59.920 Tell us about that and how that interacts with spiritual life.

00:29:04.080 You know that here on LifeSite, we love to tell amazing stories.

00:29:08.080 There are a few so heroic and amazing as the story we're about to tell you that's coming soon.

00:29:15.440 You got to watch this.

00:29:19.080 When I was in seminary, I was reading a book by Henry Nouwen.

00:29:22.820 He talked about a nuclear man, you know, and people who grew up in the 1980s were kind of formed by that immediate and constant threat of nuclear annihilation.

00:29:33.460 My generation has grown up, you know, under the specter of priestly sexual abuse.

00:29:41.680 What say you, Mr. Foreperson, is the defendant guilty or not guilty?

00:29:45.700 I think that for many of us, that has also been all-encompassing.

00:29:50.560 You know, I mean, I entered the seminary in January of 2004, and it's basically been there for me from the beginning.

00:29:57.920 One priest's sacrifice for many priestly sins.

00:30:06.540 The story of Father John Halliwell.

00:30:10.760 Coming soon from LifeSite News.

00:30:13.180 Yeah, our experience is that the demon responds to the imposition of order as much as to the prayers themselves.

00:30:24.980 And so we always, I have priests call and they'll say, how do I, you know, how do I get this?

00:30:30.620 How do I pray this prayer?

00:30:31.660 How do I do this prayer?

00:30:32.500 I got this type of demon and they did this type of witchcraft. 0.58

00:30:34.980 And the first and foremost is the imposition of order.

00:30:40.080 Imposing order.

00:30:42.220 We have like a PX90 prayer regimen that they pray.

00:30:47.200 6, 12, and 6, the Angelus and the Exilium Christian Orm prayers.

00:30:50.480 Praying at set times every day is very effective.

00:30:53.940 It's like the knocking away sloth and a sadia gets knocked away by the imposition of order. 0.84

00:30:59.480 And we know this as Catholics.

00:31:00.460 Like St. Josemaria Escriva talks about the heroic moment when the alarm goes off.

00:31:05.120 Getting out of bed.

00:31:06.120 Because the first temptation of the day, if you give into that temptation, you've already given into effeminacy.

00:31:11.080 You're giving into softness.

00:31:13.000 Get up.

00:31:13.980 Make your bed.

00:31:14.960 You know, I tell men's groups and I talk to them.

00:31:16.800 If you're looking at dirty magazines, you're playing video games all the time.

00:31:20.240 You don't make your bed.

00:31:21.240 You complain about eating vegetables.

00:31:22.420 You don't want to get physically fit.

00:31:25.060 You're not a man.

00:31:26.260 You're a boy.

00:31:27.340 You know, you got to stop boy-like behavior.

00:31:29.580 You can start living a more disciplined prayer life.

00:31:32.280 So it isn't about, it isn't just praying the right prayers or praying prayers, so many prayers or whatever.

00:31:40.280 It's having a life ordered to prayer, which is different.

00:31:44.080 You know, there are people that follow Jesus and there were people in the crowd behind Jesus.

00:31:48.900 And there are two different things.

00:31:49.780 And so there's those that pray and there's those whose lives are ordered to prayer.

00:31:54.480 And they're very disciplined.

00:31:56.560 If you talk to people that you respect as Catholics, and I bet I would list off several things that you do every day that I don't have to ask.

00:32:03.520 You're probably consecrated to the Virgin Mary.

00:32:06.080 You probably go to daily mass.

00:32:07.180 You probably go to the Eucharistic chapel, if not daily, if not every other day.

00:32:11.720 You pray the rosary every day.

00:32:13.960 You pray with your wife every day.

00:32:15.560 You probably do some of the liturgy of the hours of some form to complain or whatever.

00:32:20.600 You probably stop and do a little bit of mental prayer every day.

00:32:22.800 You probably do five, ten minutes of reading of scripture.

00:32:25.560 And we've never talked about this.

00:32:26.900 But there's certain things that, but if you say it to a soldier, you run three miles every morning.

00:32:30.920 You do this prayer.

00:32:31.780 You work on your rifle.

00:32:32.820 You work on this.

00:32:33.440 You clean your weapon.

00:32:34.460 There's disciplines to the spiritual life.

00:32:36.280 But for some reason we think, you know, you and I can think, well, I'm on an interview.

00:32:40.160 I better wear a tie.

00:32:41.320 But when I go to mass, man, it's hot.

00:32:44.100 I'm going to wear shorts in the flip-flop.

00:32:45.400 Why do I have discipline in my personal life, my professional life?

00:32:48.160 But when I go to mass, I have no discipline, you know?

00:32:50.540 So applying that same rigor of discipline without being rigid, that awful word of being rigid,

00:32:57.960 but having rigor in the spiritual discipline.

00:33:00.500 This is what a CSIS is, you know?

00:33:02.320 Vince Lombardi, we're almost coming on football season, right?

00:33:05.800 He said one year they had a bad season, the Packers, and he holds up a football and he says,

00:33:11.640 gentlemen, this is a football, right?

00:33:13.260 We're going to start over.

00:33:14.620 And he says winning is a habit, but unfortunately so is losing.

00:33:17.940 And vice and virtue are both repeated acts.

00:33:21.300 And so part of liberation has to be identifying the vice and not just – and militating against it

00:33:27.040 through insertion of the virtue of working to counteract with the opposite virtue.

00:33:31.440 This is Catholicism 101, and we've lost this.

00:33:35.240 We've lost this concept of growing in virtue.

00:33:37.740 One of the harder topics, I guess, is authority.

00:33:43.840 And you mentioned it earlier when you were talking about the husband's role in an exorcist sometimes

00:33:51.200 when there is – his wife is the subject of the exorcism.

00:33:56.020 And the authority the husband wields in that, respected by the demons.

00:34:02.180 Talk to us a little bit about authority in the home because that's – it's a very unpopular topic,

00:34:08.080 a very important one for that very reason.

00:34:10.240 Yeah.

00:34:10.760 Yeah, yeah, it is.

00:34:11.780 It's – there's several topics that I touch on, especially at parishes, and I'm like,

00:34:16.280 don't shoot the messenger.

00:34:17.540 I'm just going to teach, you know?

00:34:19.960 And authority structure is absolutely critical.

00:34:21.500 So, you know, I see again and again and again cases, you know, one case before the protocol.

00:34:29.640 This case, this diocese did a kind of a cowboy, the old-fashioned model,

00:34:35.200 and they would have eight men would hold this person down.

00:34:37.940 And I'd consult with the exorcist's father, have her do the protocol.

00:34:41.360 We'll get her ready.

00:34:42.420 And we don't need 20 people there.

00:34:43.980 All you need is her husband and then a prayer couple with a female witness to make sure there's – 1.00

00:34:49.880 we'll always have females present to witness. 1.00

00:34:52.400 And you, all right?

00:34:53.560 And if you – you know, one of your deacons or another priest, but that's all we need.

00:34:57.200 Well, last time, she threw eight people off. 0.89

00:35:00.620 I said, I know.

00:35:01.560 Just trust me, right?

00:35:03.760 So before we did the protocol, I did an intake with her, and she started manifesting.

00:35:09.920 And I said, husband, do me a favor.

00:35:11.840 Just – you're in a state of grace, right?

00:35:13.400 Yeah.

00:35:13.780 Okay.

00:35:14.160 I've seen you.

00:35:14.600 I saw your confession.

00:35:16.180 Put your hand right here where she's manifesting. 1.00

00:35:18.320 And the demons are screaming, he's a liar. 0.99

00:35:21.120 Don't listen to him. 1.00

00:35:21.860 He's lying.

00:35:22.420 He's lying to you.

00:35:23.160 Don't listen to him.

00:35:24.260 And that's what I knew about.

00:35:25.140 And it's kind of like a fighter.

00:35:26.140 When a fighter says – when you ever get – you see a fighter get hit,

00:35:28.440 takes a big punch and laughs and shakes it off, that's when you know it really did hurt

00:35:32.300 because they always fake.

00:35:33.060 I would fake it.

00:35:33.960 If I got hit hard and it really hurt, I would always like, that didn't hurt.

00:35:37.580 But inside, I'm like, dang, that hurt.

00:35:40.260 So this particular case, again, I've seen it again and again and again.

00:35:44.480 The priest places his stole symbolically.

00:35:47.400 He places his stole upon the neck of the person as part of the old ritual,

00:35:51.060 the stole representing the priestly authority,

00:35:52.940 and then a crucifix or relic upon the head.

00:35:55.640 And you see this bodily reaction at the authority of the priest.

00:35:58.920 That makes sense because their hands are consecrated.

00:36:01.040 But to also – again, I'm just a cab scout layman on this team,

00:36:04.040 and you see when the husband puts his hand on his wife's body,

00:36:07.560 it creates the same bodily reaction.

00:36:10.300 And so in this particular case, we said, okay, Father, when she manifests,

00:36:14.760 have the husband just put his hands on her head and pray for her. 1.00

00:36:16.980 And she sat – the demon sat still the entire time, just the imposition of the hands of the husband

00:36:23.620 because the authority structure by natural law and the rights over her body. 1.00

00:36:29.420 And this word, be subordinate to your husband, Ephesians chapter 5.

00:36:37.380 When I talk about Ephesians 6, spiritual warfare, you have to begin with Ephesians 5 because Paul lays it out.

00:36:43.280 That word, it's to be subordinate, upotasos, the Greek word.

00:36:47.340 It's a military term, to be ordered under.

00:36:49.520 You know, I would walk down post.

00:36:51.940 I'd have four guys in a group walking.

00:36:54.480 We'd always walk.

00:36:55.300 The senior ranking officer walked to the outside.

00:36:57.600 His right arm was free to salute.

00:36:59.580 You could always look.

00:37:00.800 You'd look to the outside guy with his right arm free, your left, and you can see – and you would see his rank.

00:37:06.060 And you would see, do we outrank him?

00:37:07.540 Does he outrank us?

00:37:09.180 There's an order there.

00:37:10.580 Upotasso.

00:37:11.460 It means to be ordered under.

00:37:12.840 That's all it means.

00:37:13.520 Literally, it also can mean to be under the protection of.

00:37:18.060 So we always focus on, oh, it's really bad.

00:37:20.080 The husband has authority.

00:37:21.100 The wife has to submit it. 1.00

00:37:22.360 What it means is the husband – the implication of this word is you take your wife and your children, you put them behind you, and you hold your shield up.

00:37:30.220 You're the first to make contact with the enemy.

00:37:32.860 They're under your protection.

00:37:34.560 This is what this word means.

00:37:35.620 And then it goes into, men, die for your wife. 0.56

00:37:41.000 Christ died for the church to sanctify her.

00:37:43.120 Yeah, they're called to be ordered under, and this is the way the demon sees it.

00:37:46.240 He responds to that imposition of order and the order in the home.

00:37:49.200 When the husband engages, he knows.

00:37:51.980 But also, how does he grow in holiness?

00:37:56.500 How does the effectiveness of his authority found?

00:38:00.380 It's through dying like Christ for the church.

00:38:02.360 He dies for her.

00:38:03.240 So the authority structure has two ends, to provide and to protect.

00:38:07.600 That's the twofold structure.

00:38:08.980 It's to provide and to protect.

00:38:10.480 And the constant temptation is for those in authority to usurp – I mean to abdicate their authority and those under authority to usurp.

00:38:19.060 And so when you stay within the authority structure, you can do spiritual combat very, very safely.

00:38:27.240 Yeah, occasionally you're going to get some purification, retaliation to purify you.

00:38:32.720 God will allow it.

00:38:33.440 But working within the authority structure, you're ordered to – it's ordered so that we provide and protect those under our authority.

00:38:40.800 And the demon responds that way.

00:38:41.880 He doesn't respond in your home because a guy shows up with his PhD or with this experience.

00:38:48.000 He's going to respond to you because you're the head of household.

00:38:50.080 You're – this is – because this is the way he is ordered.

00:38:53.680 He's bound very strictly by natural law.

00:38:55.460 So the first question, the first rule of spiritual combat, and the demon's going to yield or not yield.

00:39:01.060 He's not going to do it because, oh, gee, John Henry's a smart guy.

00:39:03.940 Oh, he's a – he's a – I mean that, John Henry?

00:39:06.780 We better yield.

00:39:08.140 He doesn't care.

00:39:09.600 He doesn't care.

00:39:10.460 What he says is does he have authority in his house?

00:39:12.520 Does he have authority over the person, the place, or the object?

00:39:14.620 And so when you stay within that, the demon – part of the ground, the spade work, really, of the deliverance ministry is asserting those authority, the rights of the soul through the authority structure and asserting those rights back.

00:39:33.380 And so the man is the first contact in the home, right?

00:39:36.700 And so that – following that authority structure is very, very critical in spiritual combat.

00:39:41.600 It's not popular.

00:39:42.980 It's not popular.

00:39:43.680 Because we live in a very feminist – and I say feminist as opposed to womanist, okay? 0.66

00:39:48.020 I'll say this.

00:39:48.520 I'll use scholarly terms.

00:39:50.680 Radical feminism is not the same as womanist. 0.80

00:39:54.500 I happen to be extremely devoted to the Virgin Mary.

00:39:57.780 I did doctoral work on the New Eve concept.

00:40:01.660 I mean, you want to look at ultimate womanism. 1.00

00:40:04.340 The ultimate human was a woman. 0.99

00:40:06.520 The ultimate perfect created vessel of grace, perfectly preserved from any stain of sin whatsoever, original or personal, is a woman.

00:40:15.980 And seeing the beauty of woman.

00:40:18.120 John Paul wrote – Pope John Paul or Saint John Paul wrote a lot about the beauty and dignity of woman.

00:40:22.580 That's different than when I talk about radical feminism where it's this rebellion against all things and all authority. 1.00

00:40:27.620 And we're affected by that as well as men.

00:40:31.300 We are.

00:40:32.000 I'm going to take this a step further because it's – it is an area of great contention, but it's also, I think, underlies so much of the battle that Our Lady promised through Sister Lucy would be the final battle, a decisive battle between our Lord and the reign of Satan.

00:40:48.560 I quoted that in the opening of the book, yeah.

00:40:50.620 Yeah.

00:40:51.120 Absolutely.

00:40:52.240 Yeah.

00:40:52.580 You know, one of the things that Our Lord talks about, or as we hear through the scriptures, St. Paul talks about, is about obedience.

00:41:04.420 Wives obey your husbands like Christ did the church. 0.81

00:41:07.540 That debate has gone all around, even among very adhering Catholics.

00:41:14.400 And it's hard.

00:41:15.340 And it, for instance, I come up with this one all the time. 1.00

00:41:19.660 Well, what if my husband is saying something that I know is stupid? 1.00

00:41:24.700 It's not morally wrong, but it's just dumb. 1.00

00:41:29.340 Yeah. 0.98

00:41:29.960 Do I still have to listen to him?

00:41:31.820 I told him, but he won't listen to me.

00:41:33.080 Do I still have to go with that?

00:41:34.900 Yeah, that's a hard one.

00:41:35.740 I met a woman once. 0.99

00:41:38.440 I came to one of my talks, and she said, my husband came, and I think she saved my marriage hearing this.

00:41:44.700 But she said to me, very critical.

00:41:46.320 She said, you know, I'll yield to, I will, this was a very successful woman.

00:41:51.420 She said, I would yield to any man, but I just cannot yield to a boy. 0.99

00:41:56.280 You know, and that's the hard part.

00:41:57.840 When you act like a boy, you're making it really hard for that authority structure to kick into place in your home.

00:42:04.940 And it isn't about who's smarter.

00:42:06.620 For years, I've trained the local deacons in our diocese, and I've worked with deacons across the board in different parts.

00:42:11.980 And I can tell you, and I don't say this disparagingly, but the wives would be better deacons than the husbands.

00:42:18.000 They're smarter.

00:42:18.660 They're more docile.

00:42:21.120 They have a more servant-like heart, the true diakonoid. 0.99

00:42:25.220 They're more intelligent.

00:42:26.560 They're more prayerful.

00:42:27.800 They would be better deacons.

00:42:29.580 But this is the structure that their church has established.

00:42:32.600 It isn't by merit.

00:42:34.380 It's by office.

00:42:35.200 This is a common misunderstanding today that kind of was an infusion from Protestant ecclesiology kind of by way of more of a charismatic ecclesiology, that it's through charism, and it's not.

00:42:47.380 It's through office.

00:42:48.900 And the authority structure is dictated by office.

00:42:51.520 Your office as head of household, your office within the church as a priest or a deacon or bishop.

00:42:57.800 And so it is about who's smarter or better.

00:42:59.440 You know, I'm a successful guy, Ph.D., combat vet, successful in the world, and I could sit in my closet and go, I have no idea.

00:43:11.180 Does this match?

00:43:12.580 Does this?

00:43:13.080 And my wife's like, where this, where this, where that? 0.99

00:43:14.960 That is not a usurpation of authority.

00:43:18.120 It's your orientation.

00:43:20.040 It's your engagement.

00:43:21.360 Just like when I asked St. Michael to subdue the left arm for me and then the wrist and then the hand.

00:43:26.660 And when the husband engages in that way and the wife in union with him, this is how you clean the home up. 0.53

00:43:32.640 I've had people listen to our podcast and other things that we're doing, and they say, man, my, you know, I had my son was just staying in his room playing video games, and he kept smoking pot.

00:43:43.820 And I started praying these prayers as authority of head of household.

00:43:47.960 I bind any demon tempting my son and start asserting themselves in the cosmic realm.

00:43:54.160 He said within two weeks, it cleared off.

00:43:55.780 So that's what we're talking about.

00:43:57.260 The authority structure isn't about who's smarter, better looking, who's more prayerful.

00:44:01.000 It's about you are called, and the demon recognizes this structure, and he's bound by it.

00:44:06.300 So if you're in a state of grace and you're living holiness, the demon will respond.

00:44:10.920 The second rule of engagement, not the authority structure, is what's the state of merit of this soul?

00:44:16.180 If you're not in a state of grace, he's going to say, I don't have to listen to you.

00:44:19.980 Your prayers are not meritorious.

00:44:21.960 I don't have to listen to you.

00:44:22.920 Yeah, it might take a little bit of beating, but I'm going to get you for that.

00:44:26.560 So getting the authority structure straight is absolutely critical.

00:44:29.500 It's the orientation into the cosmos.

00:44:31.360 How you engage, that's very important.

00:44:35.040 Absolutely fascinating.

00:44:36.020 So first of all, any final thoughts for us?

00:44:40.380 Because I want people to know where they can get your book and where they can listen to your podcast, because this is such a fascinating topic.

00:44:46.780 We could go on and on.

00:44:47.940 Give us your final thoughts.

00:44:49.080 Yeah, so I was sitting at mass one day at my parish, and the priest was waiting.

00:44:54.760 We're going to have breakfast.

00:44:56.100 And so my parish, just Joe Parrish priest.

00:44:59.040 And as I was watching him take down all the altar and put everything away, and I was just alone praying, and I realized, I'm going to write for that guy.

00:45:08.660 I want to write to help that guy.

00:45:11.960 Now, this book is being used by Father Ripperker in the four-phase protocol.

00:45:14.940 We're using it in teams.

00:45:16.060 But I wrote it in such a way that anybody could go, yeah, I need help to overcome this.

00:45:22.740 This is a tactical manual.

00:45:24.600 There's strategies, and there's tactics.

00:45:26.620 The next book I'm writing is on strategy.

00:45:28.860 This is the big picture.

00:45:29.980 As a soldier, we're going to take this city.

00:45:32.020 We've got to take this bridge out first.

00:45:33.580 We're going to do tactics is, what am I carrying in my backpack?

00:45:36.800 What do I need for this?

00:45:37.800 I need an extra pair of socks.

00:45:38.780 I need some moleskin in case I get athletes or I get rubbing hot spots on my feet.

00:45:43.700 I need this amount of ammo because I want to fight this type of enemy.

00:45:49.120 This is what I'm expecting.

00:45:50.720 I need an extra pair of socks, whatever.

00:45:52.760 I got my tools.

00:45:53.840 Everything is in there, my weapons.

00:45:55.160 This is the tactical pack.

00:45:57.040 And so I wrote it that for the average Catholic, Dominion and Father's Book on Mental Health, The Science of Mental Health, these are very huge books.

00:46:07.440 I've sat this on my stand to read, and it's like watching, like having to eat a frog.

00:46:13.900 You know it's not going to be pretty.

00:46:15.440 You know what I mean?

00:46:16.280 And the more you stare at it, the harder it's going to get.

00:46:18.700 And so those books are very intimidating.

00:46:20.160 They're written at an academic level.

00:46:21.500 What I've tried to do is bring this down to a level that the average parish priest can go, hey, read this book.

00:46:28.380 This is really going to help you.

00:46:29.340 You're really struggling with this one area of your life.

00:46:31.540 This book is going to help you deal with this trauma that you're dealing with.

00:46:34.600 It's going to help you.

00:46:35.460 This is going to give you tactics to overcome impurity that you're struggling with.

00:46:39.340 This is going to help you make a better, deeper confession.

00:46:41.500 It's just going to – this is a tactical manual, a practical look.

00:46:45.200 This is not going to tell stories.

00:46:46.840 I might tell some stories in the next book.

00:46:48.340 But this book, this is – I'm not trying to use that to sell books.

00:46:52.460 This is a book to help the mystical body, to help people to say, oh, yeah, I never realized that I shouldn't be doing that.

00:46:58.480 I didn't realize that detraction is that big of a deal.

00:47:00.700 I better clean up my speech.

00:47:02.500 I better clean up my sexual practices in my home. 0.97

00:47:05.100 I better clean up this or that.

00:47:07.060 So this is a practical manual for any Catholic that really just wants to grow deeper.

00:47:11.980 I've had – we beta tested this on some cases, and one guy was – he went to a fraternity of St. Paris.

00:47:18.800 He wasn't Catholic.

00:47:19.600 His wife was Catholic.

00:47:20.720 She was afflicted. 0.99

00:47:21.460 He didn't want anything to do with Catholicism, but he finally said, fine, I'll do these stupid prayers, and I'll read this stupid book, and I'll go through it with this couple, one of the – Father Ripperter's team couples. 0.99

00:47:32.020 So they were walking this guy through it. 0.99

00:47:34.000 He happened to be a former Marine.

00:47:36.280 And so I use a lot of military analogies in there.

00:47:39.760 And as guerrilla – spiritual warfare is guerrilla warfare, and I talk about Rogers Rangers and Army Rangers.

00:47:45.100 And so he gets two or three lessons in.

00:47:48.380 And he shows up at this parish and says – the parish priest and says, I want you to hear my confession, and I want it to be received in the Catholic Church after three lessons.

00:47:58.520 And so the priest actually used this manual to supplement, and he did some supplementation, and he was received in the church in three or four months.

00:48:06.540 So it isn't just a manual for spiritual combat.

00:48:09.080 This is a catechetical book on how to go deeper into the Catholic faith.

00:48:13.760 And I've kind of condensed Father Ripperter's larger books into a more functional way, into 12 lessons.

00:48:19.680 Beautiful.

00:48:20.840 Let me say one plug of my own.

00:48:24.680 Imagine just understanding as a parent the real ways to spiritually take authority and help expel demons from your own children and under your family home.

00:48:38.720 So just that all by itself.

00:48:42.020 Dan, amazing.

00:48:43.060 Talk to you.

00:48:43.500 Where can we get your book, and where can we hear more about it?

00:48:47.200 Tan.

00:48:48.280 Tan books.

00:48:48.940 You can type in Libra Cristo Method.

00:48:50.760 Tan books.

00:48:51.340 You can get it.

00:48:52.240 I think it's on the Dark Lord Amazon as well.

00:48:56.000 But I always send people to the publisher because they make the money, and I think I get 50 cents or something.

00:49:02.760 It's not a big – this is not – you don't write books to make a living.

00:49:06.700 And, you know, I'm in it for souls and not sales.

00:49:08.980 But Tan books would really help a great apostle that's a great – they're a great publisher, as you know.

00:49:13.600 Professor Dan Schneider, so good to be with you.

00:49:15.800 God bless you, my friend.

00:49:16.620 You're doing amazing work.

00:49:18.080 Thank you.

00:49:18.520 Thank you for having me.

00:49:19.100 I really appreciate and respect your work.

00:49:26.860 And you've surrounded yourself with some really outstanding young Catholics that are doing great work with God,

00:49:30.680 and I really respect and appreciate what you do for the mystical body as well.

00:49:33.740 Praise God.

00:49:35.180 And God bless all of you.
